COAL CHAMBER Guitarist Meegs Rascón Featured On New GEMINI SYNDROME Album; Video Trailer

Gemini Syndrome have just completed recording their new album with producer Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead). This will be the band’s third album, and the first to feature new guitarist Meegs Rascón (Coal Chamber).

The new album will complete the three-part trilogy of albums which began with the band’s debut album, the 2013 released Lux, and continued on with the 2015 released Memento Mori.

Gemini Syndrome drummer Brian Steele Medina commented: "We've worked long and hard to bring the third chapter of this trilogy to light. Our collective blood, sweat, & tears went into the creation process and we can't wait to finally unleash this new music."

A first single from the as-of-yet untitled new album is expected to be released early in 2020 on Another Century Records.

Additionally, the band have just released a new, limited-edition line of merchandise, which is now available online at geminisyndrome.com.

ICED EARTH Guitarist JON SCHAFFER Unboxes 20th Anniversary Vinyl Edition Of Alive In Athens; Video

On December 6, American heavy metal group Iced Earth finally released the classic 1999 live opus, Alive In Athens, as its first proper vinyl edition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this monumental recording. Guitarist/mastermind, Jon Schaffer, unboxes the title in this new video:

Originally released as a 2CD, 3CD and picture LP set, Alive In Athens came out slightly flawed two decades ago yet turned into a gigantic success for Iced Earth and was certified Gold in Greece, where the more than thirty different songs spanning set had been recorded on two nights at Athens’ Rodon Club in January 1999.

The original release lacked the live version of "Colors" and the picture LP was a fairly careless CD to vinyl transfer interrupting Matt Barlow’s stage banter several times and split up tracks that had been performed back to back (for example the “Something Wicked (Trilogy)”). Together with Jon Schaffer, this anniversary edition was created, offering a partially revised sequencing and fully dynamic vinyl mastering by Patrick W. Engel / Temple Of Disharmony as well as many additional extras.

Jon Schaffer states: "Alive In Athens has been called one of the greatest heavy metal live albums of all time. For me, it was one of the high points in a long and eventful journey that carries on to this day. I’ve experienced some of the best memories of my musical and personal life in Greece and these two nights in Athens are certainly no exception. I am honored and humbled by the passion of Iced Earth fans in Greece and all over the world and hope you will all enjoy this ultimate edition of Alive In Athens!"

Alive In Athens (20th Anniversary Edition) includes five 180gram LPs, a 12-page LP-sized booklet with liner notes by Jon Schaffer and Matt Barlow as well as Hakos Pervanidis (Metal Hammer Greece) who also contributed additional visual content, and 60x60cm poster.

Black and various coloured vinyl editions can be ordered now.

Video Premiere: SLIPKNOT's 'Nero Forte'

SLIPKNOT's music video for the song "Nero Forte" can be seen below. The clip, which was was filmed in late October, was once again directed by percussionist M. Shawn Crahan, better known as Clown, who is also the art director for SLIPKNOT and who directed the band's DVDs.

"Nero Forte" is taken from SLIPKNOT's latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which came out in August.

Guitarist Jim Root recently told Kerrang! magazine about "Nero Forte": "This is a Clown song, which is amazing. This one is going to be great live. It's very percussive, and reminiscent of 'Psychosocial' [from 2008's 'All Hope Is Gone'] — but maybe an evolution of 'Psychosocial'. Obviously, Clown is a drummer and percussionist, but he's also a songwriter — and he always has been. Now we're able to collaborate as songwriters, and this is what we end up with. When Corey [Taylor, vocals] came in and started diving into the vocals, he came up with this extra melody in the chorus line very late into the process. That really drew me into this song."

Corey admitted to WhatCulture Music that he "was struggling with" the chorus to "Nero Forte" during the writing process. "Everything I wrote just didn't match the great shit that was going on and the lyrics and then that bridge," he said. "The chorus, it just always felt like the ass was falling out of it, for lack of a better term. But, honestly, I took my cue from a melody line that Clown had put on there with a keyboard, actually, which I didn't even hear that melody line until… Then he pointed it out. He was, like, 'Listen to this,' and I actually listened to it and that became the high falsetto vibe. And then I wrote the harmony to that. And then it just took off from there. So it was one of those things where — it was almost like learning a new lesson. Sometimes you don't have the best idea, but it doesn't mean that the best idea isn't there. And we just kind of went from there."

"We Are Not Your Kind" sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund was founded in memory of the legendary rock singer Ronnie James Dio, who lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010. A privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $2 million in its short history. Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T.J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. Since 2016, the Dio Cancer Fund has also committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer, which is in keeping with the Fund's mission of cancer prevention, research and education.

Japan's SABER TIGER To Release The Shade Of Holy Light EP Featuring Bonus Live Tracks

Legendary Japanese metal band Saber Tiger continue their collaboration with Sliptrick Records for the release of their new Maxi-EP, The Shade Of Holy Light. The title track is a dark power ballad that was originally released as part of the critically acclaimed 2018 Sliptrick Records release, Obscure Diversity. For this EP, the band recorded an exclusive orchestral arrangement of the title track which will be featured alongside the album version and a live version recorded in Tokyo in November 2018.

The international version of The Shade Of Holy Light greatly exceeds the usual running time of a regular EP because it includes no less than six bonus live tracks recorded at the same concert, four of which are exclusive to the international Sliptrick Records release. Among these are beloved Obscure Diversity tracks like "The Worst Enemy" and "The Crowbar Case", as well as classic tracks, such as "Angel Of Wrath". These live tracks prove that the guitar interplay between Akihito Kinoshita and Yasuharu Tanaka is every bit as tight and creative on stage as it is in the studio. The same can be said about the raw and passionate vocal performance of Takenori Shimoyama, as well as the intricate progressive leanings of drummer Yasuhiro Mizuno and bassist Hibiki.

In recent years, Saber Tiger have been taking their live reputation abroad to audiences in Russia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, including a well-received slot at Estonia’s prestigious Hard Rock Laager festival earlier this year. Even after almost four decades of activity, Saber Tiger’s international ambitions have not dwindled. The Shade Of Holy Light is a great treat to fans that have followed Saber Tiger for many years, but also the perfect way for newcomers to become acquainted with their unique classic heavy metal sound with contemporary touches. The international version of The Shade Of Holy Light is released in Europe and North America by Sliptrick Records.

The maxi-EP was produced by Saber Tiger with co-production by Fubito Endo. It will be released on December 18th.

Tracklisting:
"The Shade Of Holy Light" (Orchestra Version)
"The Shade Of Holy Light" (Album Version)
"The Shade Of Holy Light" (Live Version)
"The Crowbar Case" (Live Version)
"Dying Breed" (Live Version)
"The Worst Enemy" (Live Version)
"Push" (Live Version)
"The Hammer" (Live Version)
"Angel Of Wrath" (Live Version)

Tracks 4, 5, 8 and 9 are an exclusive bonus for the Sliptrick Records release.

Saber Tiger's latest album, Obscure Diversity, was released on October 10th, 2018 via Sliptrick Records. A video for “Permanent Rage” is streaming below. The video was primarily filmed on Saber Tiger’s 2018 Baltic Tour and features the band both on stage and backstage at various venues during the tour.

Obscure Diversity demonstrates a band that has no intention of slowing down more than three and a half decades after their formation. If anything, their trademark blend of classy melodicism and fierce intensity is in better balance than ever. Tracks like speed monsters "The Crowbar Case" and "Permanent Rage" feature every aspect that fans have come to expect from Saber Tiger; from the whirlwind guitar work of Akihito Kinoshita and Yasuharu Tanaka to Takenori Shimoyama’s passionate vocals and the intricate rhythms of drummer Yasuhiro Mizuno and bassist hibiki. "Beat Of The War Drums" is heavy and modern, while more atmospheric tracks like "The Shade Of Holy Light" and "The Forever Throne" show a surprisingly introspective side of the band without sacrificing any of the band’s renowned heaviness. "Distant Signals", hibiki’s first songwriting contribution to Saber Tiger’s body of work, even manages to take the band to surprisingly progressive territories. Saber Tiger pulls all of these musical directions off with equal class and conviction, truly accounting for the diversity that they have promised in the album’s title.

Unlike their previous release Bystander Effect, which was mixed and mastered by founder Kinoshita himself, Saber Tiger sought international assistance for the sonic representation of Obscure Diversity. The band was looking for a certain degree of clarity and power and found exactly that when they enlisted the help of Simone Mularoni, guitarist of Italian progressive power metal band DGM and owner of the Domination Studio in San Marino.

Tracklisting:

“Daguerreotype Of Phineas Gage”
“The Crowbar Case”
“The Worst Enemy”
“Stain”
“Beat Of The War Drums”
“Distant Signals”
“The Shade Of Holy Light”
“Permanent Rage”
“Seize Your Moment”
“Divide To Deny”
“Paradigm And Parody”
“The Forever Throne”
“The Forever Throne” (Acoustic Version) (Bonus Track)

AC/DC's BRIAN JOHNSON And Wife Donate Property To ALL STAR CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson and his wife Brenda have a celebrated place in rock's pantheon. Their philanthropy is also well known. Case in point? The Johnsons recently donated a property to All Star Children's Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming foster care through innovation, science, and compassion. According to Stephen Fancher, All Star's chief development officer, the organization sold the property for net proceeds of $335,000.

"Over the past two years, All Star has received a remarkable outpouring of support from Brenda and Brian Johnson, and other committed, caring people," says Fancher. "Their extraordinary gifts have made a world of difference."

The Johnsons' personal commitment to All Star began with Graci McGillicuddy, All Star's co-founder and board chair. Two years ago, McGillicuddy and her husband, Dennis, shared All Star's mission with the couple. They dreamed of creating a safe place for children who've suffered abuse and neglect. These children would find a nurturing environment — and a haven for healing, offering the latest trauma-focused therapies. The Johnsons were touched and vowed to make that dream come true. In the years that followed, many others joined the fight.

Thanks to this overwhelming community support, All Star has nearly completed its Sarasota-based "Campus Of Caring," which includes a state-of-the-art center for trauma-focused clinical services. The campus also features six foster family homes that provides children who have experienced abuse or neglect, ages 0-18, with a nurturing, family-style home environment and comprehensive, trauma-sensitive treatment. Siblings will be kept together, and parents and caregivers will also be offered a range of innovative services. All Star also serves children in the region's child welfare system and their families on an outpatient basis.

"Dennis and Graci will make these children believe in angels — because that's what they are," says Brenda Johnson.

"They have brought a community together in a common cause to help children who have grown up in unpredictable households where violence and neglect may have occurred," adds Brian Johnson. "There is no greater good than what they have achieved in building the All-Star Children's Foundation campus, and Brenda and I are honored to be a part of it."

"We are so grateful to Brenda and Brian," says Graci McGillicuddy. "We're preparing to open our campus to children very soon. Raising funds is so important in this crucial time — and they’ve taken us leagues closer to making this dream a reality."

All Star Children's Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to healing the effects of trauma suffered by children who have been abused and transforming foster care through innovation, science, and compassion. All Star's campus, located at 3300 17th St, in Sarasota, is a nurturing community consisting of a clinical treatment center; six family foster homes and inspirational green space featuring a playground, gardens and a clubhouse. Working with research experts from Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, this innovative approach will be researched and evaluated in order to develop models that can be adopted by foster care systems around the state and country. This project has been partially funded under an agreement with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families.

JEFF LYNNE Has 2,000 Cassette Tapes Of Unheard ELO Tracks But Can’t Play Them!

According to Music-news.com, ELO leader Jeff Lynne believes he has around 2,000 cassette tapes with recordings from his legendary band, which he'd love to listen to again, but he doesn't have a tape player to play them on.

Jeff is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's Wired column as saying: "I must have about 2,000 cassettes that I still haven't listened to for about 20 years.

"I haven't got a cassette player for a start! I would love to check some of those really old ones out because there might be something I really love there now."

Jeff Lynne's ELO released their new album, From Out Of Nowhere, on November 1 via Columbia Records.

Lynne, whose music has touched fans deeply across three generations now, has found himself in recent years at the peak of his powers as a songwriter, musician and producer. The forthcoming album features a buoyant title song, opening the album which features ten songs, from the wistful “Help Yourself” to the celebratory “Down Came The Rain” to the churning rocker “One More Time” (featuring a solo from pianist Richard Tandy) to the sweet closer, “Songbird”.

As does its predecessor, 2015’s Alone in the Universe (the first new release from Lynne in 14 years), From Out Of Nowhere shows Lynne finding new facets to his signature sound, at once drawing on his globally loved legacy and forging new paths in both sounds and emotions. Once again, he plays nearly every note of the music on guitars, bass, piano, drums, keyboards and vibes, as well as singing all of the lead and layered harmony vocals. Steve Jay, who also engineered the album, adds some percussion.

The very existence of the album is an unexpected joy, as much for its creator as for his fans. “‘From Out Of Nowhere' - that’s exactly where it came from,” Lynne says. “That’s the first one I wrote for this album and it’s kind of like that.” It’s a song about hope and salvation. Lynne often found himself turning to a sense of optimism, which is a theme recurring throughout the album, saying “Everybody’s got to have a bit of hope.”

This album builds on the energy and acclaim generated by the release of Alone in the Universe and the triumphant return to touring for the first time since 1985, starting with a 2014 performance before more than 50,000 people in London’s Hyde Park. Since then he and the remarkable group he’s assembled have toured in Europe and North America, with shows including sold out dates at such esteemed locales as two nights at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, eight nights at the O2 Arena in London, a headlining slot at the 2016 Glastonbury Festival, a three-night fireworks spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl and a June 2017 spectacle for nearly 60,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. That latter was captured in the Wembley or Bust concert film. That was followed by a major U.S. arena tour in 2018 and a return for twenty North American shows this past summer.

ALTER BRIDGE's MARK TREMONTI Named One Of 'The Guitarists Of The Decade'

ALTER BRIDGE's Mark Tremonti has been named one of "The Guitarists Of The Decade" by the readers of Guitar World magazine.

Tremonti said in a statement: "I can't express with words how grateful, humbled, and honored I am for this recognition! Many of the other guitarists on this list continue to inspire me and I'm so proud to be considered one of their peers. Thank you to all that made this possible, I am forever grateful!"

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Tremonti has been at the forefront of guitar-driven hard rock over the course of a 20-year career that has encompassed 14 albums with three different bands: CREED, his own self-named solo act and ALTER BRIDGE, whose latest LP, "Walk The Sky", came out in October.

In a 2016 interview with Music Radar, Tremonti said: "I still think for the most part people consider just that because you're on the guitar, you're just a guitar player. They might think it's just the singers that write the songs and that's the not the case. Vocal melodies are my favorite thing to write, and they always have been. It's what I've always put most of my effort into. The lead guitar thing came along over the years of just being that player that didn't have to sing, I might as well develop that skill along with it. But my real passion is in writing the vocal melodies."

He went on to say that he formed TREMONTI as an outlet for a passion that shaped his life and approach as a musician: thrash metal. "That's what developed my style as a child, and that's what I grew up listening to," Mark explained. "It's funny that my newest music is showing my oldest techniques, but one of the reasons I wanted to do this solo band is there's a huge side of my playing that I never got to put out there. It's something that the other guys [in ALTER BRIDGE] weren't really into; they're more classic and hard-rock guys and were never into speed metal, so I wanted to do a band that I could put my biggest influences on my playing into."

.@MarkTremonti - Guitarist Of The Decade!

THE FLAYING's "Place du Parvis" Music Video Pays Homage To Hometown Of Quebec City

Recently winning "Metal Album of The Year" at the GAMIQ awards (Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec) for their debut, Angry, Undead, released this past March on PRC Music, brutal death metal contingent The Flaying are paying homage to their hometown of Quebec City with the new music video, "Place du Parvis".

The band explains: "Place du Parvis is an important hub in Quebec city. It's an area in our hometown that's a very lively place that sees all social classes living side by side, for better or for worse. From the spray-painted back alleys to the churches, to the restaurants and household dwellings. We found hitting the street like a metal Beastie Boys posse was the best way to showcase our love for this track and hometown. Special thanks and shout out to Jannick Côté from Headcase Prods for filming and editing, Carl Méthot from HsProds for filming for being outstanding as always. Thanks to all of you for coming to the shows, supporting your bands and scene!"

Live dates:

January
25 - Sherbrooke, QC - Le Murdoch (Sherbrooke Death Fest with Beneath The Massacre, Nervous Impulse, Holy Cost)

February
15 - Quebec City, QC - L'Anti Bar

May
2 - Ste-Anne-des-Monts, QC - Microbrasserie Le Malbord (with Brazen)

PALADIN To Release NEVERMORE Covers EP - Anamnesis

Riding high on the success of their debut album Ascension, Paladin have announced that on December 13th, they will release a digital-only, three-track tribute to Nevermore titled Anamnesis.

To create their own distinctive sound, the young Atlanta-based four piece have drawn from a number of influences including 1980s thrash and 1990s melodic death metal - with Nevermore firmly in the epicentre. An inspiration to many bands who followed in their footsteps, Nevermore split in 2011, and hopes for a reunion ended when vocalist Warrel Dane died in 2017.

Of the choice of songs on the EP, Paladin guitarist / vocalist, Taylor Washington comments: “'River Dragon' was an obvious choice since it's probably their most recognizable song. I wanted to do something from This Godless Endeavor since it's still my favorite Nevermore album, and 'Final Product' was kind of the default choice since it doesn't have any super ridiculous hard parts in it. We also wanted to do an older song, one that wasn't played on a 7-string. The name is a mouthful, but I've always been partial to '42147' because it's filled with great riffs and the subject matter is interesting.”

A chance meeting with Nevermore drummer, Van Williams, gave Paladin the impetus to pursue the idea of recording the songs, which will be released on December 13th - the anniversary of Dane’s death. The band’s connection to Nevermore goes back several years as Taylor explains:

"I remember picking up This Godless Endeavor from a liquidation sale at a music store back in high school. From the first listen it immediately resonated with me and I knew it would become one of my favorite albums and Nevermore one of my favorite bands. When Prosthetic proposed the idea of doing a Nevermore tribute EP to commemorate Warrel Dane's death, I honestly hesitated. Jeff Loomis is an absolute monster on guitar and Warrel had one of the most distinct and dynamic voices to grace the metal world. The task of having to do justice to those two and Nevermore as a whole was a daunting one, but I couldn't say no. I decided to sing the songs the way I would rather than try to sound like Warrel since that would feel disingenuous to me.”

The cover art for the Anamnesis EP has been created by Travis Smith, a longtime artistic collaborator of both Nevermore and Warrel Dane.

FRED COURY On Possibility Of CINDERELLA Reunion: 'If The Stars Align The Right Way, We'll Do It'

Fred Coury says that he would be open to doing more shows with CINDERELLA if the stars "aligned the right way."

Although CINDERELLA hasn't released a new studio album since 1994's "Still Climbing", the band started playing sporadic concerts again in 2010 but has been largely inactive for the last few years while frontman Tom Keifer has toured as a solo artist.

During an appearance on this past Thursday's (December 12) episode of "Trunk Nation: L.A. Invasion" on SiriusXM, Coury was asked if he can envision CINDERELLA ever regrouping for at least one more show. He responded: "You know, never say never. We're all cool with each other. I talk to Tom more than anybody in the band; we're still really tight. We haven't played together in a long time, but he supports what I do; I support what he does. And we say no [to gig offers], and the money [that's being offered] keeps going up. And it's at a ridiculous status now, and we're still saying no. So when it goes back down to almost nothing, we'll probably start saying yes," the drummer joked, before adding: "It's not in the cards right now, because we are so busy doing what we do individually. But if the stars align the right way, we'll do it."

This past spring, Keifer shot down the possibility of a CINDERELLA reunion, saying that "it's a situation that doesn't work anymore." He said: "I'm not gonna weigh in on the dynamics of CINDERELLA and what caused that to go south. The only thing I'll say is what I've said in the past, and that is, there's been issues for decades between us, and they've gone years unresolved. And when issues go unresolved, they usually fester and get worse." He added: "I'm not gonna weigh in. We've never aired our laundry, ever, and I'm not about to now."

Back in 2016, CINDERELLA guitarist Jeff LaBar accepted blame for the group's prolonged period of inactivity, explaining that his "drinking problem" caused a rift between him and his bandmates. He told "Another FN Podcast With Izzy Presley": "I can only speculate, but I believe it's all my fault. It's no secret that I've had a drinking problem. And it showed its ugly face on one of those [cruises that CINDERELLA played]. I guess that's what caused a rift… When I fell out on one of those cruise ships in front of everybody — like, basically O.D.'d — that's when the band, and mostly Tom, took notice and was, like, 'What the fuck?'"

Asked if he is sober now, LaBar said: "No, I'm not. Which is the problem. Which is probably the problem. Like I said, I can only speculate, because I don't talk to the other guys anymore. I talk to Fred every now and then. Eric [Brittingham, bass] lives 20 minutes from me. We haven't talked lately, but Eric and I have been the most consistent of all my bandmates throughout the past 32 years. It's just Tom and I that don't talk anymore. And I can only speculate that he's very disappointed and doesn't wanna see me die. He doesn't wanna witness me dying."

Ohio Club Where DIMEBAG Was Murdered Is On Market For $1.295 Million

The Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, where PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was murdered exactly 15 years ago, is on the market for $1,295,000. The listing is held by Best Corporate Real Estate, which has produced a PDF file containing all the relevant information concerning the business.

On the night of December 8, 2004, a 25-year-old ex-Marine named Nathan Gale charged onstage at the packed nightclub and opened fire on the band and crowd, killing Dimebag and three other people before being killed himself by police officer James D. Niggemeyer, who arrived on the scene minutes after Gale began his rampage.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Gale seemed to deliberately target Abbott, leading to speculation that the young man, who had a history of mental illness, held a grudge against Abbott and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul, for the break-up of PANTERA in 2002. Columbus police closed their investigation in October of 2005 without establishing a motive for the shootings.

Niggemeyer told The Columbus Dispatch in a 2014 interview that he was no longer a police officer largely because of the emotional toll of that night. He remained on patrol for three years after Dimebag murder, but the city eventually decided, with the advice of doctors, that he shouldn't be a first responder. He now works in the city's fleet management division.

Dimebag's death was a devastating blow to the close-knit hard rock and metal community. He was known to his fellow musicians for his hospitality, friendship and partying spirit, and was a legend among fans and peers for his powerful, innovative and unmistakable playing style.

Vinnie Paul sued Alrosa Villa over his brother's death. The lawsuit was settled out of court in 2007 for what was described at the time as a nominal amount.

"What happened here on Dec. 8, 2004, was a tragedy for everyone and our hearts go out to the victims and their families," Alrosa Villa manager Rick Cautela said in a statement issued after Vinnie Paul's lawsuit was dismissed. "There is nothing we could have done to stop it."

According to The Columbus Dispatch, the lawsuit said the Cautela family, which owns and operates Alrosa Villa, was negligent in not stopping Gale from entering the club with a gun and ammunition.

Gale jumped a fence surrounding a patio outside the club as DAMAGEPLAN began playing its first song. He then walked through the crowd and entered the stage from behind a stack of amplifiers. He pulled a handgun and shot Abbott in the head, then turned the gun on those who tried to intervene.

DAMAGEPLAN crew member Jeffrey Thompson, club security guard Erin Halk and audience member Nathan Bray also were killed. Band manager Christopher Paluska and band technician John Brooks were wounded.

The carnage ended when Niggemeyer entered the club through a rear door and fatally shot Gale as Gale held a gun to Brooks's head.

In a 2014 interview with the "Talk Is Jericho" podcast, Vinnie spoke about his brother's passing. He said: "It was a really hardcore, tragic event, and the guy [Nathan Gale] wanted to kill me too. And somehow or another, I was lucky enough to escape that, and I'm still here, and I will do everything and anything I can to carry on the legacy and the tradition that my brother always had."

Vinnie Paul died in June 2018 at the age of 54 in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas. The official cause of death was dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. He was buried next to his brother and their mother, Carolyn, at Moore Memorial Gardens cemetery in Arlington, Texas.

MACHINE HEAD's New Drummer MATT ALSTON: Drum-Cam Footage Of 'I Am Hell' Performance From Brussels

Drum-cam footage of MACHINE HEAD drummer Matt Alston performing the song "I Am Hell" with his bandmates on October 31 at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium can be seen below.

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn recently spoke to France's HEAVY1 about the addition of Polish guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka (DECAPITATED) and British drummer Alston (DEVILMENT, EASTERN FRONT) to the group's ranks. Kiełtyka and Alston joined MACHINE HEAD on the first leg of its 25th-anniversary tour for the band's classic debut, "Burn My Eyes", which kicked off in Germany on October 5 in Freiburg, and wrapped in Dublin, Ireland on November 8.

"We were doing auditions for a while, and Vogg's audition just fucking blew my mind — it was so fucking tight and fucking accurate," Flynn stated about how the guitarist ended up landing the gig. "He sent over [a recording of] 'Imperium' as his first song just as a test. We always had all the dudes do a sound test, just to make sure the levels are good and stuff. I was, like, 'Oh my God! This dude is playing 'Imperium' better than I can right now.' [Laughs] It was crazy. And we ended up talking. Super-nice guy. Matt, same thing. We flew him out, jammed with him, and he killed it."

Each show on MACHINE HEAD's current tour was described in a press release as "a three-hour musical extravaganza," comprised of two parts: part one features a battery of MACHINE HEAD's modern classics, such as "Imperium", "Halo" and "Now We Die", featuring Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern performing alongside Kiełtyka and Alston. Part two features "Burn My Eyes" played in its entirety for the first time ever, with original drummer Chris Kontos and guitarist Logan Mader joining in.

Asked how all the musicians are getting along and whether they are traveling together, Flynn told HEAVY1: "We're all in the band together — we all live together. The band's all on the bus — all six of us. And it's a great ride, man. Everybody is very respectful; everybody knows their role and just kind of doing it here and enjoying it. Everybody is out here having a blast. It's so nice to have people who are in a positive frame of mind, 'cause it wasn't like that in the past. And now it is, and it's fucking awesome."

Kontos left MACHINE HEAD before the release of the band's second album, 1997's "The More Things Change", and was replaced by Dave McClain.

Mader contributed to two MACHINE HEAD albums, the aforementioned "Burn My Eyes" and "The More Things Change", before exiting the group and being replaced by Ahrue Luster and, later on, Phil Demmel.

McClain and Demmel both left MACHINE HEAD in October 2018.

WOLF CHAMBER - Metal Vets From WILDESTARR, STEELWITCH, VICIOUS RUMORS, And CHASTAIN Unite; Debut Song "Forest Of Darkness" Available For Free Download, Streaming

If you are a fan of kick ass heavy rock - in the vein of classic W.A.S.P., Rogue Male, Motörhead, and vintage KISS - then the newly-formed Wolf Chamber is a must-hear, especially their newly released song, “Forest Of Darkness” (streaming below).

Comprised of Ed Gage (lead vocals and rhythm guitars), Dave Starr (lead and rhythm guitar), London Wilde (bass), and Josh Foster (drums), metal fans will be familiar with its members’ previous work, with the likes of WildeStarr, Steelwitch, Vicious Rumors, and Chastain. And a free download of “Forest of Darkness” is available here.

“Like many musical relationships these days, Ed Gage and I met via the internet - Facebook to be exact,” explains Starr. “He was a fan of the work I have done over the years with WildeStarr, VR, and Chastain.... and we struck up a friendship. I checked out some of his songs on YouTube, and found one that intrigued me. What I heard was a very rough demo version of ‘Forest Of Darkness'. I contacted Ed and asked him if I could do some work on the song to make it better, and he was very receptive to my ideas. Most people are very protective of their songs and ideas, so to be honest I was expecting Ed to tell me 'HELL NO'. I really had no idea what I was going to do, but to make a long story short, in my spare time over the next few months, I basically re-wrote all of the music and re-structured much of the vocal parts to accompany the new music. I presented Ed with a rough demo of my new changes and he loved it!”

“While WildeStarr took a short break from recording CD # 4, I had Ed record his vocals and guitars parts out in Los Angeles and sent them to us here in Texas. I recorded my guitar parts here in the WildeStarr studio, and WildeStarr singer London Wilde played the bass. WildeStarr drummer Josh Foster recorded his drum tracks for us out in San Francisco, and he also mixed and mastered the song. What we have in ‘Forest of Darkness’ is a stripped down, brash, rock n’ roll tune. It’s sort of Motorhead meets Rogue Male meets classic W.A.S.P. and KISS. There is none of the sophisticated polish that people are used to hearing from WildeStarr, I did not want to do that. Its loud, obnoxious, and in your face with all the bumps and bruises that rock n roll is supposed to be about. It’s made to be played LOUD. We had fun doing this and hope you like what you hear!”

Gage also explained his side of the story. “It’s a crazy way how this project all came together. I relocated to Los Angeles in the summer of 2017. I began working in the film industry as well as recording music. Almost a year later, an episode I had worked on of the HBO show Westworld aired, which I ended up having a lot of screen time on. After, I got a lot of attention from it - I received an unexpected message from the man himself, Dave Starr. I had told him that I had enjoyed his musical contributions to the band Vicious Rumors. While we were in conversation I had told him that I also was a musician myself, and the topic came up of possibly collaborating on music. Fast forward almost a year and a half later. Here we are with a new project and a debut single! And there’s so many more recordings to come!”

AS I LAY DYING's PHIL SGROSSO On Singer TIM LAMBESIS: 'The Two Of Us Have The Most Positive Relationship We've Ever Had'

AS I LAY DYING guitarist Phil Sgrosso says that he now has " the most positive relationship" he has ever had with the band's singer Tim Lambesis, who was famously convicted in 2014 for his role in a murder-for-hire plot against his estranged wife.

In May 2014, Lambesis was sentenced to six years in jail after pleading guilty to paying a San Diego police officer posing as a hitman $1,000 to kill his wife. Approximately two and a half years later — on December 17, 2016 — he was discharged from a California detention facility and was transferred to the Division of Adult Parole Operations.

In June 2018, AS I LAY DYING played its first show with Lambesis in five years and released a new single. Lambesis also owned up to his crimes in a long apology on the band's Facebook page after his release.

"I can only speak for myself personally, but there was a strange relationship between Tim and I before this all happened," Sgrosso tells San Diego CityBeat. "But, over time, to see who he has changed into after serving his sentence and going into his rehabilitation process, and for the two of us to have the most positive relationship we've ever had is definitely the most ideal situation. I have to admit, it took a leap of faith on my side to believe and trust he became a better person. There was a willingness to forgive once he was seeking it from all those closest to him."

This past September, AS I LAY DYING released its seventh full-length album, "Shaped By Fire", via Nuclear Blast. The band has also been on the road consistently in support of the disc and will concude its latest run of U.S. shows with AFTER THE BURIAL and EMMURE on December 14 in San Diego, California.

"The word 'family' describes the level of interaction and dynamic between our band," Sgrosso tells San Diego CityBeat. "While on tour, we're living together, but also when we're off tour, at home we meet up and work together. The cool part is now it's more positive than it's ever been between us all."

Although most AS I LAY DYING fans have welcomed the group's return, some resistance remains; in late 2018, the band was dropped from the lineup of Spain's Resurrection Fest, and earlier this year, a venue in Memphis, Tennessee called off AS I LAY DYING's performance after it faced online backlash.

The return of AS I LAY DYING raised some questions, particularly since guitarist Nick Hipa categorically denounced the band's disgraced frontman as a "sociopathic narcissist in definite need of rehabilitation" in a social-media post back in 2014.

"Shaped By Fire" was produced by AS I LAY DYING and was mixed by Joseph McQueen at Sparrow Sound in Los Angeles, California, while mastering was completed by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in Nashville, Tennessee. The only exception was the track "My Own Grave", which was produced by AS I LAY DYING, co-produced by Drew Fulk and mixed by Adam "Nolly" Getgood.

AS I LAY DYING has a number of dates lined up for early 2020, beginning with a tour of Asia which will kick off on January 8 in Bengaluru, India.

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH Pays Tribute To MICHAEL TILSON THOMAS At 42nd Annual KENNEDY CENTER HONORS

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich paid tribute to Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT), music director of the San Francisco Symphony and co-founder of the New World Symphony, at the 42nd annual Kennedy Center Honors, which was held on December 8 in Washington, D.C. Ulrich delivered a spoken tribute and took part in a performance with more than 40 alumni of the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), which MTT co-founded 32 years ago as a training ground for the next generation of classical musicians.

"He has such a sense of curiosity. He wants to always challenge himself," Ulrich said about Michael Tilson Thomas after the performance. "He can talk about a piece written in 500 A.D. just as passionately as he will address the merits of a hard rock anthem written in the 21st century."

The Kennedy Center celebrates icons who have left an indelible stamp on the nation's collective cultural consciousness, according to chairman David M. Rubenstein.

METALLICA first teamed with the San Francisco Symphony in 1999 for the live album "S&M", four years after Thomas became the symphony’s music director. This year, Thomas, as conductor, joined with Ulrich and the rest of METALLICA to celebrate 20 years since the band and the Symphony recorded "S&M", at a reunion concert before 18,000 fans at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

Earlier this week, Ulrich took to his Instagram to once again praise Michael Tilson Thomas, writing: "It was absolutely incredible to be part of the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. this past weekend, and being given the privilege of celebrating Michael Tilson Thomas' creative achievements….including giving a shout out to the S&M2 project he was such an integral part of it."

The gala will be televised on CBS on Sunday, December 15, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

QUEEN's BRIAN MAY And ROGER TAYLOR Create Special Film To Send Christmas Message To Fans

QUEEN icons Brian May and Roger Taylor today posted their personal Christmas messages to fans worldwide with the gift of a new specially created animation film for the band's "Thank God It's Christmas" track originally released in November 1984.

"Thank God It's Christmas" was a rare song writing collaboration between Roger and Brian. The song spent six weeks in the U.K. charts over the Christmas/New Year period 1984/1985. It enjoyed a second lease of life Christmas 1995 coupled with the hit single "A Winter's Tale" from the "Made In Heaven" album. Here the track receives a fully animated treatment.

The concept for this new animated film came directly from Brian and Roger who explain their thoughts behind it, with Roger saying: "Ironically, Christmas tends to be such a stressful time for so many of us. So many emotions, joyful memories of past Christmases as delighted children and responsible adults / parents. It's just a great relief when it finally happens."

Brian adds: "The video goes a little further by including a subtle reminder that we as humans now need to feel a responsibility for the welfare of ALL creatures on Earth — not just for our own benefit, and that of our grandchildren, but out of respect for the rights of the animals themselves."

Working with Brian and Roger, the film was directed and animated on their behalf by Justin Moon and executive produced by Drew Gleason for production company °1824.

The new "Thank God It's Christmas" film is available to enjoy in two versions: lyric version and the original version.

JOE LYNN TURNER Says He Has Cleaned Up His Act 'A Lot' Since Suffering Heart Attack

Former RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE frontman Joe Lynn Turner, who suffered a heart attack a year and a half ago, says that he is fully recovered and healthier than ever.

"Calling it a wake-up call is exactly right," he told The Jerusalem Post in a new interview. "After 40-plus years of touring and the heat of the 'sex, drugs and rock and roll' lifestyle, it's going to catch up to you sooner or later.

"I've cleaned up my act a lot and feel like I have a new lease on life," he said. "I've got new opportunities to comprehend my mortality and to be more grateful. It was just a hell of a way to do it."

Turner's April 2018 hospitalization was first reported by the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, which quoted the press service of the Ministry of Health of Belarus as saying that the singer was treated at a Minsk facility for "myocardial infarction," commonly known as a heart attack. Turner's presence at the hospital was also reported by Belarus's most influential daily newspaper, the state-owned SB Belarus Segodnya.

Joe was the frontman of RAINBOW between 1980 and 1984 and he sang on the album "Difficult To Cure", which featured the band's most successful U.K. single, "I Surrender".

During Turner's time with RAINBOW, the band had its first USA chart success and recorded songs that helped define the melodic rock genre.

1990 saw Turner reunited with RAINBOW leader Ritchie Blackmore in a reformed DEEP PURPLE for the "Slaves And Masters" album.

The 68-year-old singer is married to Maya Kozyreva, a lawyer from Minsk.

FOZZY Has 'A Lot Of Great Tunes' Written For '2020' Album

FOZZY frontman Chris Jericho recently spoke to PureGrainAudio's Paltrocast about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2017's "Judas" album. He said (hear audio below): "It's interesting, because the writing process has been in full swing for probably six months or so. And now it's at the point where I get sent new demos — finished demos — maybe once a week. So I think now we're at the point where it's time to start recording. But things have changed. We're on Sony Music now, and the days of recording a record and then releasing a single and having 'em kind of come out together, simultaneously, are done. Now it's more about keeping the momentum going by just releasing singles, which is why [2019 single] 'Nowhere To Run' came out when it did. So we have a lot of great tunes. And whether we need to release another single before the album is ready, that's fine too. So it's kind of a work in progress, but there's a lot of progress being made. The record is called '2020', so it's gonna have to come out within the next 12 months or it's gonna be irrelevant at that point."

FOZZY's next album is once again being produced by Johnny Andrews, who worked on "Judas" and previously co-wrote FOZZY's "Lights Go Out" track back in 2014. He has also written songs with the likes of ALL THAT REMAINS, THREE DAYS GRACE and HALESTORM.

Jericho recently said that FOZZY will take the time it needs to make a worthy follow-up to "Judas", whose title track has 33 million YouTube views, was No. 1 on iTunes charts in eight different countries and spent nine weeks in the top ten on the Active Rock Charts in the USA.

"The thing is you can't rush something like this, because 'Judas' had three Top 10 singles on it," he explained. "So it was a huge breakthrough for us — it really took us to the next level. Your next record has to be better — not as good; it has to be better. And so there's no reason to rush it. I find in this biz, 'Here today, gone later today,' if you make the wrong decisions, is very easy, and also, 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder.' So while people are waiting, as long as we know we've got some of this, like, 'Wow, this is very, very good, and we're gonna really continue this build that we've got,' then we'll be ready. Until then, we're gonna take the time it takes to get it right."

There is no danger, however, that FOZZY fans will undergo the same struggles experienced by followers of GUNS N' ROSES, who spent more than a decade waiting for the arrival of "Chinese Democracy" before it was finally released in 2008.

"I guarantee it won't take 14 years to put out the next FOZZY record," Chris said. "And I think you see that with [other] bands — METALLICA [taking] eight years between records. I don't think there's any reason for that — especially not for us. We wanna get it done, but we don't wanna rush it. But we also know there's a black hole, like a window that you have to go through. If you wait too long, people forget about you."

"Nowhere To Run" was released in August.

Ex-LAMB OF GOD Drummer CHRIS ADLER Says He Missed 10 Of His Daughter's 11 Birthdays

Furtados Music conducted an interview with Chris Adler in November when the former LAMB OF GOD drummer traveled to India to conduct a series of drum and music-business clinics and live shows titled "The Chris Adler Experience", presented by Gravity Talent. The live shows saw Adler supported by a number of the country's top musicians as they belted out the best-known LAMB OF GOD and MEGADETH material.

Asked what projects he has lined up for 2020, Chris said (see video below): "Well, we'll see. I've got a couple of projects going on. There's a guy in California named Myrone that I'm working with. He just put out an album called 'Guitar Magic'. He's kind of one of these virtuoso guys. I'm looking forward to doing something with him. And probably another clinic run in South America; maybe something in the U.S. as well. And I'm also gonna be getting married, so I'm trying to find a good place to do that. And India seems like a great place. We've been talking about it, actually… Other than that, probably just take a little time. My daughter's gonna be 12, and I missed 10 birthdays, eight in a row. So I think it's probably time for me to show up."

When the interviewer said that being a musician is a "tough job," Adler responded: "It is — well, especially with kids. And so, that kind of guilt is starting to get to me a little bit. I wanna be home [for her next birthday]."

LAMB OF GOD officially parted ways with Chris in July. His replacement is Art Cruz, who has previously played with PRONG and WINDS OF PLAGUE, and filled in for Adler on several LAMB OF GOD tours in 2018 and 2019.

When Adler's absence from LAMB OF GOD's summer 2018 tour was first announced, he released a statement saying that he had been undergoing physical and occupational therapy for injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.

In addition to LAMB OF GOD, Adler has played drums with a number of metal artists, including MEGADETH, NITRO, BLOTTED SCIENCE and PROTEST THE HERO.

Adler is currently playing with the rotating supergroup HAIL!, whose lineup also includes EXODUS vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza, VIO-LENCE/ex-MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel and former MEGADETH/BLACK LABEL SOCIETY bassist James LoMenzo.

In 2018, Adler launched a management agency, Kintsugi Management. Less than a year old, the company currently works with two bands: BETRAYING THE MARTYRS from France and DYSCARNATE from the U.K.

JONI MITCHELL To Receive LES PAUL Innovation Award At 35th Annual NAMM TEC Awards

Hailed as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century, inspired folk artist and pioneer Joni Mitchell will receive the prestigious Les Paul Innovation Award at the 35th Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards (NAMM TEC Awards), being held Saturday, January 18, 2020 in Anaheim, California. The award is given on behalf of the Les Paul Foundation to honour individuals that have set the highest standards of excellence in creative application of artistry in the spirit of the famed audio pioneer, inventor and musician, Les Paul.

"We are excited that Joni will be the recipient of the prestigious Les Paul Innovation Award," says Michael Braunstein, Executive Director of The Les Paul Foundation. "Like Les, she has been a trailblazer and a true renaissance woman - a songwriter, musician, producer and influencer who made her mark with very influential songs in the 60s. She has pushed the boundaries of what it means to be a female singer-songwriter over the course of her four decade career, and like Les Paul, she's never been scared to take creative risks. We are thrilled that Joni Mitchell will join the list of extraordinary recipients that represent the spirit of the legendary Les Paul."

"Thank you for this honor," said Mitchell. "I'm grateful for being appreciated."

A consummate artist, Roberta Joan Anderson is an accomplished musician, songwriter, poet and painter. An only child, Joni's artistic talents blossomed early as she began drawing as a young child. Always a lover of music, it wasn't until high school in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that Joni began performing. She bought a ukulele and soon began playing in the local club, The Louis Riel, in 1962.

Heading to art school in Calgary after graduation, Joni auditioned at a coffeehouse called The Depression and immediately landed a regular gig there. Weighing two viable career options - art or music - she decided to focus on the latter. In 1964, Joni moved to Toronto and immersed herself in the fledgling Yorkville folk scene - performing in coffeehouses along with other fellow unknowns Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot. It was during this time that Joni's songwriting skills began to emerge.

Moving stateside in 1965, Joni worked the coffeehouse circuit for the next three years - playing as many as twenty sets a week. David Crosby caught her performance in a Florida club in 1967, was 'stunned' by her talent, and invited her to Los Angeles.

Soon thereafter Joni signed with Reprise Records. Her first record, Song To A Seagull, was released in 1968. A wholly original masterpiece buoyed by her unique songwriting and guitar style, this album still sounds fresh and timeless 50 years on.

Joni Mitchell went on to serve as producer for most of her subsequent albums. She produced and recorded Blue (1971), a unique collection of songs, performed with an emotional honesty that resonated with a wide audience. Blue is considered by many critics to be one of the best LPs of pop music ever created.

Joni's most commercially successful LP, Court And Spark (1974) was created with the jazz-fusion group The LA Express. The Hissing of Summer Lawns (1975) steered her away from traditional pop forms into formats of complex lyrics and melodies, accompanied by a variety of jazz musicians. Her album Hejira (1976) shed much of the instrumentation creating a minimalist recording with an expansive ambience achieved with the help of her sound engineer, Henry Lewy, by overdubbing Joni's electric rhythm guitar. In 1978 one of jazz's great geniuses, Charles Mingus approached Joni to propose a collaboration. The result was Mingus (1979), released shortly after Mingus's untimely death from ALS.

Dog Eat Dog (1985) featured Joni's exploration of sociopolitical themes set to complex synthesizer arrangements. In the 1990s her acoustic guitar playing came back to the forefront and produced the Grammy winning Turbulent Indigo (1994). She has also recorded an orchestral retrospective, Travelogue (2002), two live recordings, Miles Of Aisles (1974) and Shadows And Light (1980), and an orchestrated collection of popular music standards, Both Sides Now (2000). In 2007 the Alberta Ballet Company staged the ballet "The Fiddle And The Drum," choreographed to a collection of Joni Mitchell's recordings. Her last recording of new material was 2007's Shine.

Although Joni's sophisticated music rarely topped the pop charts ("Help Me" reached #7 in 1974), many of her songs have become classics. "River," "Big Yellow Taxi," and "A Case Of You" are instantly recognizable. "Woodstock" has become the anthem of the 60's counter-culture movement and "Both Sides Now" has been recorded more than 1,250 times by other artists.

Three Junos, nine Grammys (plus their Lifetime Achievement Award), the Governor General's Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame and Songwriter's Hall Of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, and a Polar Music Prize are but a few of Joni's awards and accolades. With this award, Mitchell will join the likes of Peter Frampton, Jackson Browne, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Don Was, Slash, Todd Rundgren, Pete Townshend, Steve Vai and others, as a Les Paul Innovation Award honoree.

The NAMM TEC Awards, held during the global gathering of music, sound and event technology at The NAMM Show, are bestowed annually in honor of the many individuals, companies and technical innovations used in sound recordings, films, broadcast television and video games. Nominees were announced earlier this year. Purchase tickets on site or in advance here for $65 (General Admission) or $195 (VIP). The show begins with a VIP-only reception at 6PM, followed by the awards ceremony at 7 PM, held in the Hilton Anaheim Hotel's Pacific Ballroom. Portlandia co-creator, Saturday Night Live alumnus and drummer, Fred Armisen will host the event.

PINK FLOYD - "One Slip" From Delicate Sound Of Thunder (Original Vs Restored); Video

Pink Floyd - The Later Years, a 16-disc set (5xCDs, 6xBlu-Rays, 5xDVDs) covering the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards, will be released on December 13, with a 12-track Highlights package (2LP or 1CD) available on November 29.

In support of the upcoming release, Pink Floyd have released the video below, featuring a comparison of the original and restored versions of "One Slip", from Delicate Sound Of Thunder.

The period covered on The Later Years generated record sales of over 40 million worldwide and included three studio albums: A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, The Division Bell and The Endless River as well as two live albums: Delicate Sound Of Thunder and Pulse. With additional production from David Gilmour and Andy Jackson, over 13 hours of unreleased audio and audiovisual material, including the sought-after 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts, Pink Floyd The Later Years is a must for all fans.

A multi-media, deluxe box set, Pink Floyd The Later Years presents an expanded view of the Pink Floyd story from 1987 to the present and kicks off with A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, the album that confirmed Pink Floyd as one of the world’s biggest artists.

The album, presented for the first time in 5.1, has been remixed and updated by David Gilmour and Andy Jackson. The release of The Later Years project gives an opportunity for a fresh overview of the A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album. By returning to some of Richard Wright’s keyboard parts and recording new drum tracks with Nick Mason, producers David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin have restored the creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members.

Throughout 1987 and 1988 the band’s live shows became the largest-grossing concert tour ever to that date and produced the critically acclaimed, Grammy Award nominated, Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Filmed at the Nassau Coliseum in New York State, the concert shows the band on the top of their form. The concert has been fully re-edited and upgraded from the original 35mm film negatives by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and Benny Trickett and the sound remixed to 5.1. It also includes "Terminal Frost" and "Welcome To The Machine", two tracks that were not included on the original concert film release. For the first time the concert is available in 5.1 on Blu-ray and DVD.

Two of the most sought-after additions to Pink Floyd The Later Years are the 1989 Venice Concert, performed on a floating stage in front of St Mark’s Square, and the 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth. Both concerts, previously unreleased, are now available on both DVD and Blu-ray (145mins). The momentous Knebworth concert saw Pink Floyd topping the all-star bill (that included Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Tears For Fears), in aid of the Nordoff Robbins charity, profits from which went towards setting up the BRIT School. David Gilmour and Andy Jackson have remixed the audio from this iconic concert and all seven tracks performed on the day (with guest musicians including sax player Candy Dulfer, the original The Great Gig In The Sky vocalist Clare Torry, keyboard player Michael Kamen and Sam Brown with her mother, Vicki, on vocals), are released here as well as for the first time ever on CD.

1994’s album The Division Bell sold over 12 million copies, having debuted at No 1 in the UK, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. It stayed at the top of the US charts for 4 weeks, and also went to No 1 in six other countries. The resulting tour was captured and recorded for the concert release Pulse. This release contains the entire Pulse live concert film, re-edited and upgraded from the original masters, from the groundbreaking Earl’s Court gigs, and available for the first time on Blu-ray. Also uncovered for the first time is footage of the band in rehearsals on October 20, 1994 performing "A Great Day For Freedom" and "Lost For Words".

In 2014, Pink Floyd released The Endless River, comprising mostly instrumental and ambient music based on material recorded during The Division Bell sessions. Featuring David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright, additional material was recorded in 2013 and 2014, with one song, "Louder Than Words", with lyrics by author & novelist Polly Samson (the primary lyricist for The Division Bell album). The Endless River became the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon UK and debuted at number one in several countries. The vinyl edition was the fastest-selling UK vinyl release since 1997. Included here for the first time is the never previously seen specially commissioned full 52-minute The Endless River film by Ian Emes, famed for his work with Pink Floyd, including his animations for "One Of These Days", "Speak To Me", "Time" and "On The Run".

Rounding off the package are hours of unreleased bonus materials including music videos, documentary footage, bonus live tracks, upgraded tour screen films and documentaries. It includes the first ever release, on Blu-ray, DVD and 7” vinyl, of the last live performance of Pink Floyd with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright together in 2007. This special performance of Arnold Layne took place at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert at The Barbican on 10 May 2007. The full set boasts previously unreleased or remixed audio, plus restored, remastered and re-edited audio-visuals including unreleased concert footage and promo clips.

With the help of Nick Mason and the Pink Floyd archive, the box set comes with reproductions of tour artwork, posters, programmes, tour laminates, lyric book and much more including two 7” vinyl singles, (the live version of "Arnold Layne" performed at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert in 2007 and "Lost For Words" from the Pulse tour rehearsals at Earl’s Court), in new picture sleeves and etched image B-sides. Also included is a brand new 60-page hardback book of photos, designed by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis and Peter Curzon of StormStudios, including many previously unseen images.

The 5 CDs are encased in their own 40-page hardback book with an extensive guide to all content, tracklists and credits.

There is also be a 2-LP / 1-CD ‘Highlights’ package. It comes in a gatefold sleeve (for both 1-CD and 2-LP), and each contain a 24-page booklet containing previously unseen and rare photos.

CHESTER BENNINGTON's First Band GREY DAZE To Release Album Of Re-Recorded Material In His Honor

Chester Bennington's former bandmates in his first group, the Phoenix, Arizona-based post-grunge act GREY DAZE, have re-recorded their old material with the help of the late LINKIN PARK frontman's friends and family. Among the guest musicians set to appear on the recordings are Chester's 23-year-old son Jaime Bennington, KORN's Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer, P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel, BUSH's Chris Traynor, as well as Ryan Shuck, Chester's bandmate in DEAD BY SUNRISE. The resulting album will be released via 320 Changes Direction, the the mental health awareness organization launched by Chester's widow Talinda Bennington.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday (December 10), Talinda explained that releasing the GREY DAZE album will help "shine a light on" where her "husband started and hopefully give fans a better understanding of his art and a more full picture of his journey through this incredible music."

Talinda wrote: "One of Chester's greatest gifts was music. The only thing he took more pride in was being a father to his children. Given how much he cared, he wanted fans to hear everything he did, and his musical journey started with GREY DAZE.

"In February 2017, Chester and his bandmates began re-recording their music for a planned re-release of the band's early music and by June, he announced that GREY DAZE was reuniting and would be playing a 20th anniversary show that fall. He was so enthusiastic about doing this, he was eager to play rock music and there were messages in those songs he knew would be meaningful to fans.

"It also meant a lot to him to be working with his GREY DAZE bandmates, Sean Dowdell (with whom he had a very special friendship, and was a business parter in Club Tattoo) along with Mace Beyers, and Cristin Davis. He'd known them more than half of his life.

"When Chester passed away, GREY DAZE's reunion seemed like an afterthought to everyone involved, they were suffering, I was suffering, and there were way too many emotions to work through before we could even think about what would happen to that project.

"Once the clouds lifted a bit, once we could focus on what Chester would want us to do, we looked for a way to continue what Chester was working on, the things he was proud of and wanted to share with his fans. The GREY DAZE project is one of the ways we can continue to tell Chester's story and connect with his fans.

"Through our foundation, 320, I endeavor every day making sure Chester's legacy shines a light for positive change. For us, releasing a new GREY DAZE album will shine a light on where my husband started and hopefully give fans a better understanding of his art and a more full picture of his journey through this incredible music."

In a 2001 interview with Revolver magazine, Chester described GREY DAZE's musical style as "early-'90s -style rock. It wasn't pop rock, it wasn't heavy metal. It was in between grunge and good rock. We didn't know what we were doing. We were just writing songs and singing. It was a four-piece band. Some of our songs were more rock. Others were more, I don't know, alternative? I've always been into punk and classic rock. The first few years of being a musician, it was all cover band stuff, and we'd throw in a few originals. The last band I was in, I was in it for almost eight years. We made two albums, and tried really hard."

He added: "I definitely know why it didn't go anywhere: We all wanted to make it, but we all wanted to make it for different reasons. It wasn't all about making good songs, where anything else that comes from that is a fringe benefit."

Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home in July 2017 after hanging himself.

LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.

MÖTLEY CRÜE Was One Of GOOGLE's Top U.S. Trending Search Terms Of 2019 In 'Musicians And Bands' Category

On Wednesday, Google released its "Year In Search" list, revealing some of the top trending searches in a number of topics. Specifically, Google looked at the biggest trends — meaning, search terms that saw the largest spikes in traffic over a sustained period in 2019 compared to 2018.

In the U.S., MÖTLEY CRÜE was the No. 6 biggest search trend of 2019 in the "Musicians And Bands" category. Rappers R. Kelly and 21 Savage were at the top of the list, followed by singer Billie Eilish. Also making the Top 10 were rapper Lil Nas X and singer Lizzo.

Google's top U.S. trending searches of 2019 in "Musicians And Bands" category:

01. R. Kelly

02. 21 Savage

03. Billie Eilish

04. Lil Nas X

05. A$AP Rocky

06. MÖTLEY CRÜE

07. Lizzo

08. Gladys Knight

09. Tekashi 69

10. Joy Villa

It should be noted that the above musicians/artists were the top trending search terms of 2019, not the "most searched" or "top searches" overall — just what searches were trending the most in the United States over the last year.

With the success of CRÜE's biopic "The Dirt" on Netflix and its soundtrack, the band landed another No. 1 album on iTunes and Top 10 worldwide with 22 chart-topping singles and seven albums on the charts. Its massive global success saw CRÜE's popularity rush to new highs, catapulting the band's music back to the top of the worldwide charts with the younger 18-44 demographic now representing 64% of the band's fanbase. Moreover, in the six months following the release of "The Dirt", MÖTLEY CRÜE has celebrated a meteoric rise of almost 350% increase in streams of their music across all streaming platforms. In addition, MÖTLEY CRÜE's music is frequently licensed by major household brands such as KIA Motors, Dodge, Coldwell Banker, NASCAR, Carl's Jr. and many more.

Earlier this month, the four members of MÖTLEY CRÜE scrapped their supposed contractual agreement to never tour again just four years after the band's farewell trek and announced a stadium tour with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and Joan Jett. The 22-date "The Stadium Tour", as it's being called, kicks off July 7, 2020 at Miami, Florida's Hard Rock Stadium and wraps up on September 5 at Los Angeles's SoFi Stadium. Tickets go on sale on December 13 at 10:00 a.m.
