ZZ TOP: 'That Little Ol' Band From Texas' Documentary To Be Released On DVD, Blu Ray And Digitally In February
ZZ TOP's big, brazen blues-rock, combined with a surrealist charisma that continues to intrigue fans, catapulted the band into worldwide stardom. Their history is deeply explored in "ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band From Texas", which will be released via Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD, Blu-ray and digitally on February 28, 2020. The release is available along with exclusive "That Little Ol' Band" merchandise bundles from this location now.
Produced by the award-winning Banger Films ("Super Duper Alice Cooper"; Peabody/international Emmy award-winning Netflix series "Hip-Hop Evolution"), "ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band From Texas", presented through the unique Banger Films lens, delivers the story of this power trio in an artistic style that complements the distinctive ZZ TOP vibe. Originally premiered at a sold-out showing at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood earlier this year, the film experienced a successful 10-week theatrical run via 150 screens nationally.
It unveils the story of three teenage blues musicians: guitarist Billy F Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard, as they went on to become international sensations. The film traces ZZ TOP's rich legacy, from their bar gig beginnings to their defining MTV era and meteoric rise to fame. In addition to interviews with the band members, the disc features conversations with such high-profile fans as Billy Bob Thornton and Joshua Homme (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE), as well as never-before-seen archival footage. Shot exclusively for this film, an intimate ZZ TOP performance at the historic Gruene Hall — the oldest dance hall in Texas — is intercut throughout the documentary.
Alongside the film, the DVD and Blu-ray also includes two live performance segments. 18 minutes of the Gruene Hall performance, along with the Ham Estate Archive, which spotlights rare pre-"Eliminator" ZZ TOP concert footage from 1976 and 1981, complete the set.
"I think even our most steadfast fans will find themselves surprised by what they learn about those men behind the beards and cheap sunglasses," Gibbons said of "That Little Ol' Band From Texas". "There we are, up there on the silver screen and it's something we're delighted to share with fans of all stripes."
Currently celebrating their half-century career with extensive tours of both Europe and North America, ZZ TOP continues to inspire fans 50 years after their inception. "That Little Ol' Band From Texas" takes a deep dive into the band's history that's truly an interesting ride. | +4

SEVENDUST's MORGAN ROSE In 'Stable' Condition After Being Hospitalized
SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose is in "stable" condition after being hospitalized for an undisclosed illness earlier in the week.
On Wednesday (December 11), SEVENDUST announced that it was canceling its previously announced U.K. shows as the support act for ALTER BRIDGE and SHINEDOWN because Morgan was "sick" and "under doctor's orders not to leave the country." The trek was scheduled to kick off on December 14 at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham and conclude on December 21 at The O2 in London.
Late last night, Trevor Omar, who works for Rose's official clothing line, Alien Freak Wear, issued an update on the drummer's condition, saying that "Morgan is in the hospital and stable" and asking fans to keep Rose in their "thoughts and prayers."
Omar wrote in a Facebook post: "Hey, everyone. Just wanted to pop on here will quick and post a message. First I want to thank everyone for keeping Morgan in your thoughts and prayers. Believe me it is truly appreciated.
"I know everyone would like an update & information as to what is going on, but all I can say for right now is that Morgan is in the hospital & stable. We will hopefully have a more clear idea of what's next tomorrow. So unfortunately there isn't many details that I or anyone else can give. Once there are details available to give, it will he passed on in the proper channels. And please do not believe something unless it comes from one of those channels.
"All the messages of support have been amazing, but unfortunately I cannot respond to each message. I am sorry. And just speaking for myself, I can only imagine how many messages everyone in 7D & MGT have received also. Please, be aware that it will be really difficult for anyone to respond to messages at this time. And that we all thank you for your love and support or Morgan.
"As soon as there is information that is able to be passed on, it will be. Trust me. In the mean time, please continue to keep my (our) friend Morgan in your thoughts and prayers.
"Again, Thank You for all your Love & Support."
SEVENDUST is still slated to play three "Acoustic Xmas" shows in Florida and Georgia at the end of the month.
In a 2018 interview with CrypticRock.com, Rose admitted that he no longer parties as hard as he once did while on the road with SEVENDUST. "We are not the way that we used to be as far as the self-inflicted damage we put on ourselves with extracurricular stuff," he said. "Some of the guys are in tip-top shape. Me, I tend to have a few more beers or cocktails maybe than the other guy, but I get my rest."
SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery recently said that the band has "pretty much wrapped" the recording process for its new album, tentatively due next summer. The follow-up to last year's "All I See Is War" was once again tracked at Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, Florida with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who has previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH, among others.

WISHBONE ASH To Release 'Coat Of Arms' Album In February
In the annals of rock music, there have been few bands with a lasting stylistic influence who continue to be active to this day and are celebrated at their shows not only for their past accomplishments but who continue to impress their fans with new albums, new songs and fresh ideas at regular intervals. WISHBONE ASH certainly counts among this rare species. Almost precisely 50 years ago this month, the group led by guitarist/vocalist Andy Powell first caught attention with the release of its debut album, "Wishbone Ash" (1970). Two years later, they went on to write music history with their third release, "Argus", and since then WISHBONE ASH has brought out more than two dozen outstanding studio and live recordings, among them classics such as "Live Dates" (1973), "There's The Rub" (1974) and "New England" (1976), as well as more recent gems such as "The Power Of Eternity" (2007) and "Elegant Stealth" (2011). Their upcoming release, "Coat Of Arms", forges an arc to all these offerings, featuring WISHBONE ASH's characteristic twin lead guitar parts, their haunting melodies and diverse stylistic facets, while at the same time imbuing the scene with a breath of fresh air.
"Coat Of Arms" sounds stylistically diverse and technically accomplished, yet the new album is typical of WISHBONE ASH's traditional strengths — a balancing act that is a challenge to Andy Powell every time.
"Following the countless songs that we have written throughout the history of WISHBONE ASH, my own expectations are extremely high," Andy says. "On the one hand, as a composer, you try not to repeat yourself in your creative output but to come up with new ideas all the time. On the other, you want to remain faithful to your style. Good songs need an inner conviction and the right inspiration. We had both when we started working on 'Coat Of Arms'.
"You'd be right in describing the current lineup as the best in the history of WISHBONE ASH. We all love our lives as musicians, the direct contact with our fans, travelling, the shows, our songs. It's that commitment by everybody involved that you hear in every single note on 'Coat Of Arms'."
"Coat Of Arms" will be released through SPV/Steamhammer on February 28, 2020 as CD DigiPak, 2LP version (including a bonus track), download and stream.
January 10, 2020 will see the arrival of the lead single "We Stand As One", which Powell proudly describes as a "real heavy rock anthem featuring wonderful guitars, in the true spirit of WISHBONE ASH classics such as 'The Warrior'."

HALESTORM Perform Acoustic Version Of "Heart Of Novocaine"; Video
Halestorm have released a new video, featuring an acoustic performance of the song "Heart Of Novocaine", which can be seen below.
"'Heart Of Novocaine' was one of those rare songs that was written in about five minutes," says vocalist Lzzy Hale. "It was a moment I needed to take to change the negative thoughts in my head into something positive. This song is a good example of how I use my music as my personal therapist. I was about to come out on the other side of this song stronger and full of forgiveness, I hope it does the same for all of you!"
"We lived through a fire, a mudslide, an earthquake and 19 months in Burbank, California to make sure our debut album was released," says Halestorm vocalist Lzzy Hale. "To celebrate our 10th year anniversary of our debut album on Atlantic Records, we decided to include raw, never before heard demos and rejects, new art, and a personal letter from me taking you through our rollercoaster ride. I hope you enjoy this special piece of Halestorm history."
December 20th is the release date for the self-titled debut album from Halestorm, pressed onto 12” standard vinyl marking the 10th anniversary. The 2 disc LP contains the original album on translucent sea blue vinyl and demos on translucent highlighter yellow vinyl.

SCORPIONS Flashback - "When The Smoke Is Going Down" Live From Munich, 2011
Scorpions' The Final Sting”tour concluded in Munich, Germany on this day in 2012. The footage below was filmed in Saarbrücken, Germany on April 15, 2011. It was the seconnd leg of the band's epic world tour, which lasted a total of four and a half years with just one six month break.
Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs was recently a guest on New Zealand’s The Metal Bar, and confirmed that the band is working on a new album, and are planning a July 2020 residency in Las Vegas.
Jabs says, "We've been writing some material before we went on tour, before we went on tour this summer. It's always difficult to come up with stuff on tour. You get the inspiration, but to actually put it down, that's a different story, when you travel every day. So we have songs, about ten, I guess, but we will have to do some more writing once this tour is over, and then prepare for the rehearsals and recordings right after our shows in New Zealand and a couple in Asia. So we will be back in early March. And we know that we work with the producer Greg Fidelman, who is known for doing Metallica and Slipknot and others, and he's a great guy. And he came to visit in our studio in Hannover, Germany already. So the plan is to record until the first of July, where we have a residency in Las Vegas for a whole month. And then, during that time, we can either do the final touch-ups or mix. And then the album should come out in the fall of 2020. And then, of course, we go on the road again."
Get ready for the biggest hard rock tour of 2020. Scorpions and Whitesnake are coming for their first ever double headline tour of Australia and New Zealand. Feel the bite of Whitesnake and the sting of the Scorpions.
"We’re gonna rock you like a hurricane,“ promises Scorpions vocalist, Klaus Meine.

UFO Guitarist VINNIE MOORE Talks Making Of Soul Shifter Solo Album - "I Never Plan To Write About A Particular Thing; It Just Sort Of Happens" (Audio)
In the latest episodes of Rockin' You All Night, future Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Vinnie Moore is interviewed at The Pressroom in Phoenix, AZ by Ryan Witting. Vinnie and Ryan talk about Vinnie's current solo album, Soul Shifter. Also, Vinnie discusses the current state of UFO while they are on their Last Orders 50th Anniversary Tour.
Vinnie: "You've got to capitalize on life while you while you're still healthy and doing well, so I just want to keep writing, playing, recording, touring... just doing as much as possible. I never plan to write about a particular thing; it just sort of happens. It's more natural and organic that way. Sometime I don't even know what I'm writing about but I feel a certain mood, get inspired, go with it and write a song. Sometimes a real event like losing someone could inspire a song, but it's never thought out and calculated in advance."
The follow-up to Vinnie Moore’s 2015 release, Aerial Visions, was released on October 9, via his label Mind's Eye Music. Titled Soul Shifter, Vinnie's ninth solo album features guest appearances by legendary artists Rudy Sarzo and Jordan Rudess, with Richie Monica on drums, Michael Bean (bassist from Vinnie’s Time Odyssey album), John Cassidy (keyboards), and John Pessoni (drums).
Vinnie is considered one of the originators of shred guitar, and has released eight influential solo albums, and six albums and a live DVD as a member of rock royalty legends UFO. He’s made countless album guest appearances, and has even recorded the soundtrack for a Pepsi TV commercial. He’s been a member of Alice Cooper’s band and was opening act for Rush on their Roll The Bones tour with his own band. His solo and UFO recordings as well as live performances have amassed rave reviews all around the globe from both fans and music press, catapulting him into guitar icon distinction! He has been an inspiration for fans and guitarists worldwide.
Say’s Vinnie, “I have been touring all over the world extensively with UFO and my solo band for the past 16 years. I started this album a couple years back and have been working on it religiously between tours. It’s quite different than any of my others. It has elements of things I’ve done in the past, but has gone much deeper into certain areas. There is an overall sort of contrast between energetic upbeat songs, versus ballad-like soulful ones which has always been a big part of my style. There are some Jam elements in places too. This is likely the most emotional and soulful thing I have ever done. Very moody, with lots of feel. I wrote a song as a tribute to Carlos Santana, called 'Brother Carlos', and another called 'Gainesville Station', which is a tip of the hat to Steve Gaines. Both players were huge influences on me when I was learning to play, and continue to be now.
“When something moves me, what I am feeling flows directly into music. That’s how I deal with reality. I woke up one morning to the news that Chris Cornell had passed and it really hit me hard. I went into my studio, picked up a guitar and immediately wrote and recorded 'Mystified'. Without intending to do so, and because of what was going on around me at the time, this album in a way became a tribute to people who meant something to me. The Allman Brothers were always one of my favorite bands and I was working on a song called 'Soul Rider' that was inspired by them. While writing it, unfortunately Greg Allman left us. A lot of heart went into recording that song. Also, I wrote a song called 'Heard You Were Gone' for my friend and band mate Elliott (Dean Guitars) who left us unexpectedly a couple years back.
“There are definitely some downhearted cathartic moments on this album, but they’re balanced out with songs like 'Kung Fu Grip' and 'Funk Bone Jame' that represent the opposite side of my personality, which is my constant joking and quirky sense of humor.”
Vinnie has done hundreds of shows all over the planet, including Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Brazil, US, as well as India, S. Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, and Canada. The UFO Last Orders tour began in England in March, and will continue in the US on October 9.
“Ancient astronaut theorists suggest that Vinnie may have been spawned from alien DNA! Or at least his left index finger anyway.” - Giorgio Thessaloniki, Ancient Aliens
“Solo records are a great vehicle because the canvas is totally open and I can paint whatever and wherever I want. There’s total freedom in not having boundaries. All of my influences are on the canvas, from Rock to Blues to Be-Bop to Funk, even R&B and beyond. I have always felt music deeply even before I played guitar. After I began playing, it became my vehicle to express and release what I feel inside. I love channeling my soul into melodies and songs.”
Pre-order the new album via iTunes, or Apple Music.

SAXON Frontman BIFF BYFORD Unveils Title Track Of Solo Album, 'School Of Hard Knocks'
On February 21, 2020, legendary SAXON frontman Biff Byford will step into the spotlight with his first-ever solo album, "School Of Hard Knocks". You can now listen to the disc's title track below.
The English North is everything you saw in "Game Of Thrones" and more. It is the true heart of England, the region where its soul resides, and Biff Byford has earned the right to be considered its true heavy metal bard.
Biff takes on not just tales and stories from his heart and soul, but also investigates the Middle Ages and Medieval history amongst other subjects.
"I'm singing about my past of course and about things I like, but mostly I wanted it to reflect me, my personality and my life," says Biff. "Song-wise, it's more diverse and not just focused on heavy metal. I wanted it to be a slice of the music I like, from metal, to rock 'n' roll. I'm a guy who's just as happy listening to METALLICA or Judy Garland, because as long as it's great and entertains me, then what more do I need?"
An aural Byford storybook highlighting his life and passionate interests, "School Of Hard Knocks" is in all senses a classic, masterfully constructed old-school British hard rock album.
From the spoken-word introduction of "Inquisitor" with its stoic, poetic take on the Spanish Inquisition to the autobiographical, old-school "Wheels Of Steel"-era thrust of "Welcome To The Show" (hear audio below) and "School Of Hard Knocks", you'll get to know Byford supremely well over the 11 tracks which comprise the album.
"One of my favorites is 'The Pit And The Pendulum', which is quite 'prog metal' and I love that," says Biff. "I'm a big prog rock fan and was a huge fan of YES back in the day and being a musician-bass-player myself, the musicianship in bands like that really caught me. There's a version of 'Throw Down The Sword' by WISHBONE ASH, and the reason I did that was because it was the first song I ever heard that was anything to do with history in the sense of battles and war, and was really the thing which started me on the road to writing historically driven songs."
There is also a wonderful version of the SIMON & GARFUNKEL classic "Scarborough Fair", with Byford and Fredrik Åkesson (from OPETH) creating a new arrangement which gives the legend new life.
"It's a traditional medieval song, and the story goes that Paul Simon happened to hear somebody playing it in Whitby, which is just down the road from Scarborough," laughs Biff. "But I wanted something which represented Yorkshire and it is a Yorkshire folk song, so we tried a new arrangement which made it a little heavier, and it works really well."
"School Of Hard Knocks" was produced by Biff Byford, recorded by Jacky Lehmann at Brighton Electric Studios in Brighton (U.K.) and mixed at Queen Street Studios in Stockholm (Sweden) by Mats Valentin. The album features guest appearances by Phil Campbell (MOTÖRHEAD, PHIL CAMPBELL & THE BASTARD SONS), Alex Holzwarth (RHAPSODY OF FIRE), Nick Barker (VOICES), Dave Kemp (WAYWARD SONS) and Nibbs Carter (SAXON).
On "School Of Hard Knocks", Byford worked with a new band comprising Fredrik Åkesson (OPETH) on guitars, Christian Lundqvist on drums and Gus Macricostas on bass (Biff himself played a spot of four-string thunder too!).
Biff is also planning some live shows next year, events which will continue the theme of breaking new ground: "I'm going to do a 'words-and-music' tour in small venues," he states proudly. "The first part will be me in conversation with the audience about anything really, from heart attacks to sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll, old times, new times, friends, enemies and whatever anyone wants to chat about… Then bringing out a band and playing some new songs, covers and maybe end with a SAXON song or two. I'm still working out the details, but it's a show I've wanted to do for a long time and one which I don't think has been done in hard rock before. It'll be something different and a lot of fun."
"School Of Hard Knocks" not only achieves the goal of providing full bore entertainment, it fulfils a long-standing Biff Byford's wish to explore rock 'n' roll a little more.
"It's been great to break new ground, explore new territories and work with some old friends," concludes Biff, "and having waited so long to make this album, I have to say, I am delighted with it! It has a whole range of styles, from the ridiculously heavy to ballads, and it is certainly my album."
Biff will embark on his first-ever solo tour in April 2020. The 10-date trek will kick off on April 17 at Gateshead Sage 2 and will include shows in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Bath, Liverpool, Aberdare, Milton Keynes, London and Brighton.
The performaces will be split into two halves, with the first half consisting of a spoken-word portion featuring American comedian Don Jamieson who co-hosted VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show". Don and Biff will discuss the legendary frontman's life and his career. The second half will be a live show featuring Biff and his solo band.
Biff explains: "The show will consist of some old songs, some new songs, some cover versions and some songs off the solo album. It's going to be great and I am really looking forward to it. It's going to something a little bit different, but it will be very cool, so I'll see you all there!"
Biff Byford tour dates:
April 17 - Gateshead Sage 2
April 18 - Birmingham Town Hall
April 20 - Glasgow St Lukes
April 21 - Leeds City Varieties
April 22 - Bristol St Georges
April 24 - Liverpool Arts Club
April 25 - Aberdare Coliseum Theatre

Watch LAST IN LINE Perform In Aschaffenburg, Germany
Fan-filmed video footage of LAST IN LINE's December 9 concert at Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg, Germany can be seen below.
LAST IN LINE guitarist Vivian Campbell revealed in a recent interview with the "Pat's Soundbytes Unplugged" podcast that the band is seeking a new record label home after issuing two albums through Italy's Frontiers Music Srl.
"We are gonna be looking for a new record label, so that's an exciting thing for us," he said. "We've done a couple of records with Frontiers, and we did not renew our contract with them. So we're in negotiations with some major players, so that will be exciting for us — to do a new record and be on a new label and hopefully get more of a global reach. It's all part and parcel of hard work. We've been working very, very hard for the last few years with LAST IN LINE, and it'll be nice to actually take it to the next level."
Asked if LAST IN LINE has considered forming its own record label to release the band's future recordings and make sure the group is compensated properly, Vivian said: "It's not about the money. I mean, there's not a lot of money in records — even for a band like DEF LEPPARD. There's very, very few people who sell a lot of records nowadays. Maybe if you're Adele or someone like that. It's more about getting music to people's ears. That's the hardest part — distributing music and promoting music. And that's the reason to go with an established label.
"In large part, when you're a musician, the music itself is a reward," he continued. "You create something beautiful, and if it means something to people and it resonates with people, then you've done your job.
"We're in a very enterainment-heavy age, with three million television channels and the Internet and everyone's got a smartphone. Everyone kind of focuses on what is of interest to them, and the hardest thing is getting new music to people's ears and making people aware of it and actually getting your music to the kind of people who would wanna hear it. And that's promotion. It can be difficult, it can be challenging, and it's a constantly changing environment. New platforms come along every year or two, and you've gotta kind of adapt. The one thing that will never change is live music. I'm happy to say that's one thing that — you can't package it."
According to Campbell, LAST IN LINE has already composed most of the music that will appear on the band's third album, which, he says, will "expand" on the material that was included on this year's "II" effort.
"I think we're getting very ambitious with our writing, as we did on the 'II' album over the first album, which was 'Heavy Crown', with [late LAST IN LINE bassist] Jimmy [Bain]. Ever since Phil's [Soussan, Jimmy's replacement] been in the band, I think we're stretching more. We're taking some chances; we're experimenting on some stuff. And Andy [Freeman, vocals] is such a flexible writer that he's able to write a melody across sometimes what are very unusual musical progressions. And riffy — more intricate. So we're definitely pushing ourselves. I'd say at this point, we probably have 80 or 90 percent of the music [written] for the record. Obviously, Andy's gotta do a lot of work and write a lot of the melodies and lyrics, but he's very, very quick with that. We were hoping to start the record in January-February."
LAST IN LINE was formed in 2012, when Campbell, Bain and drummer Vinny Appice — Ronnie James Dio's co-conspirators and co-writers on the "Holy Diver", "Last In Line" and "Sacred Heart" albums — teamed up with Freeman. "Heavy Crown" was released in February 2016, landing at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Initially, the release had been preceded by tragedy when Bain unexpectedly passed away at the age of 68 on January 23, 2016. LAST IN LINE, honoring what they knew would be Bain's wish to keep the band moving, brought in Soussan and committed to sustained touring in support of the album, hitting festivals, headlining clubs, and sharing the stage with metal luminaries such as SAXON and MEGADETH. | +3

Doom Icon WINO Joins Ripple Music; New Album, Forever Gone, Due Early 2020
Ripple Music announces the signing of doom metal icon Scott “Wino” Weinrich. Wino’s new solo album will launch Ripple’s new Blood and Strings series, in which some of the most admired names in riff-rock and metal unplug to record albums of acoustic heaviness. Ripple Music will release Wino’s new Frank Marchand-recorded solo album Forever Gone in early 2020.
Wino declares: "Hello friends, fans, freaks! It is with great excitement that I announce to the rock and roll world that I have signed on to the Ripple family and that Ripple will be releasing my next solo / acoustic recording Forever Gone in early 2020. I think this is the perfect vessel to bring this music to your ears! Thanks all at Ripple Music and thanks to all who believe!"
Ripple Music will soon unveil more details regarding this new solo album as well as their upcoming Blood and Strings series.
Scott “Wino” Weinrich is widely as known as the iconic frontman of cornerstone doom metal founders Saint Vitus and The Obsessed — both founded in the late '70s and revered for inspiring hundreds of bands in their sovereign wake — as well as Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand and Shrinebuilder.
Through his prolific and passion-driven 40-year career, whether he was laying the foundations of modern doom or successfully sailing across stirring folk rock lands, Wino has remained an unwavering force of the underground scene.
Today, Wino is respected the world over as the godfather of doom and one of the heavy music underground’s most revered lifers.
"Wino, what a fucking guitar player, and one of my favorite singers. Nothing to prove, just soul-felt vocals." – Phil Anselmo (Down, Pantera)
"Wino's music has always been so serious, that's the only thing he knows, and he's gonna do it whether or not he makes a million dollars or ten bucks… he means it." – Pepper Keenan (Down, Corrosion Of Conformity)

HALESTORM Completes Recording New Mystery EP: 'It's Something We've Never Really Done Before'
HALESTORM guitarist Joe Hottinger has revealed in an interview with Guitar Bonedo that the band has recorded a new EP with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who previously worked on last year's "Vicious" album. Joe said (see video below): "There'll be more information on that coming up. It's just getting mixed now, and it sounds awesome. It's something we've never really done before. Everyone's expecting a cover EP, but… We're about to shake it up a little. Technically, it is a cover EP. [Laughs] You'll find out. It's cool."
Added vocalist/guitarist Lzzy Hale: "It's nothing like what you think. We can't really talk about it."
Raskulinecz's first collaboration with HALESTORM was the band's third covers EP, "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP", which came out in January 2017.
Earlier in the month, HALESTORM bassist Josh Smith hinted at the band's next recording project, saying that "there might be covers on it" as well as "something a little different."
HALESTORM will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the band's debut studio album by releasing "special package" on December 20. Released in 2009, the LP was produced by Howard Benson (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, P.O.D.) and featured the single "I Get Off". The band went on to release three additional studio albums, becoming a mainstay on rock radio.
The tenth-anniversary vinyl edition of "Halestorm" will feature all-new artwork as well as pre-production demos and bonus material that tell the story of "how that first album came about and the struggles and wins and the things that happened through the music," according to Hottinger.
Last December, HALESTORM was nominated for a "Best Rock Performance" Grammy Award for its song "Uncomfortable".
In 2012, the band won its first Grammy in the category of "Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance" for "Love Bites (So Do I)". According to the Grammy web site, Lzzy became the first woman to earn a Grammy in the category. | +3

Exclusive: VULCANO Premieres “Bride Of Satan” Video
Vulcano will release their new album, Eye In Hell, March 2020 via Mighty Music. BraveWords is premiering the new single and video for the hellish “Bride Of Satan”! Check it out below:
In a time when new bands are born at every minute and meaningless albums are spit forth and back, the simple existence of an entity with the historical depth, aura and attitude of Vulcano is nothing short of amazing. The Brazilian black/thrash metal masters are now back to studio album titled Eye In Hell, to be released worldwide by Mighty Music on the first quarter of 2020. Eye In Hell was produced by Zhema Rodero and Ivan Pelliciotti in O Beco studios, in Curitiba, Brazil, between April and August 2019 and has artwork drawn by Roberto Toderico (Paganizer, Pestilence, Sodom, Tygers Of Pan Tang).
Vulcano were one of Brazil's first heavy metal bands of note. Coming into existence some time before (and having no small influence upon) that country's most famous metal export, Sepultura, Vulcano's albums were far too inaccessible to surface above the heavy metal underground with any regularity; and yet, alongside fellow Brazilians Sarcofago, Mutilator, and others, their primal, astoundingly violent blend of black and thrash metal has attained a worldwide cult legend among some of the genre's most extreme practitioners - notably, Norway's feared black metal inner circle of the early '90s.
“Vulcano has always been a DIY band in essence, since it’s very first album”, states Zhema. “But for the first time in our almost 39-year career, we signed a record deal with a label with name and focus on metal. We’re very proud to be now in a roster with renamed artists - some of them created in the same era we did - like Tygers of Pan Tang and Artillery”, he continues. “This union gave us extra motivation and energy to keep going and I believe we still have a lot of albums and shows ahead”.
Lineup:
Zhema Rodero - guitar
Luiz Carlos Louzada - vocals
Carlos Diaz - bass
Gerson Fajardo - guitar
Bruno Conrado – drums

L.A. GUNS Feat. PHIL LEWIS And TRACII GUNS: Listen To Cover Of SLADE's 'Merry Xmas Everybody'
Just in time for the holiday season and, most importantly, Christmas carolling season, L.A. GUNS have released a brand new digital EP, "Another Xmas In Hell". Featuring covers of holiday classics by THE DAMNED, RAMONES, SLADE and Billy Squier, these tracks will surely liven up your holiday festivities and provide a suitable soundtrack to guzzling down your spiked eggnog.
"Another Xmas In Hell" features a special guest appearance from the one and only William Shatner.
Track listing:
01. The Bills / Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You (feat. William Shatner / BILLY SQUIER cover)
02. Merry Xmas Everybody (SLADE cover)
03. Dreidel
04. There Ain't No Sanity Clause (THE DAMNED cover)
05. Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight) (RAMONES cover)
Listen to the cover of SLADE's "Merry Xmas Everybody" below.
L.A. GUNS, between tour dates, are currently working on writing songs for a new studio album, tentatively due for release in late 2020 via Frontiers Music Srl. This will be the third studio album since the much welcome reunion of the band's core foundation of vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns. It will follow the well-received albums "The Missing Peace" and "The Devil You Know", plus the live release "Made In Milan".
Phil and Tracii became estranged after Guns left L.A. GUNS in 2002 to focus on BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, thereby leaving Lewis to carry on with the name. Four years later, Guns re-teamed with former L.A. GUNS bandmates Paul Black and Nickey Alexander, first as THE TRACII GUNS BAND, then as L.A. GUNS, the name change influenced by the fact Guns and former drummer Steve Riley jointly own the L.A. GUNS moniker. For the next six years, the two versions of L.A. GUNS would compete for fans' attention while Guns and Lewis traded perfunctory barbs through the press, a period Lewis now calls "embarrassing" and "the lowest point of L.A. GUNS' history."
Guns and Lewis would reunite in 2014 at a benefit show in Las Vegas. Two years later, they announced plans to reactivate their version of L.A. GUNS, but without longtime drummer Riley, who, even with the lineup confusion, remained the longest-tenured member of the band. In another twist to the story, Riley's own version of L.A. GUNS performed at this year's M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland and is preparing to record a studio album. | 0

Watch MAX And IGOR CAVALERA Perform SEPULTURA Classics In London
Fan-filmed video footage of Max Cavalera and his brother Igor performing material from the SEPULTURA albums "Arise" and "Beneath The Remains", among other classics, on December 11 at the Kentish Town 02 Forum in London, England can be seen below.
In a 2018 interview with Wall Of Sound, Max stated about revisiting the "Beneath The Remains" and "Arise" material on the current run of shows: "I had to learn those riffs again for the tour, and I had to rediscover the albums again. It was a really fun process, learning the lyrics again. I kind of fell in love with the albums again. I don't have a favorite — I like both together, and I think they're meant to be together. For some reason, they just feel right when you play them together. I was very young when I made them, so it made me very aware of my state of mind at the time. I feel like I'm pretty much the same guy. I'm [50] now, but I'm still a metalhead in the heart. I still have the teenage spirit. I'm a huge metal fan, [a] huge supporter of metal. That's just how it was when those albums were done. It's a blessing that I get to do that with my brother, especially after all we went through together and we didn't speak for 10 years. Now, it's good — we are in a good place, and our brotherhood is really good, and we're just having fun with this music... There's an energy and a real anger and real passion in those songs that translates into people losing their minds when they hear it. I don't even have to tell them, 'Circle pit' — they will do it themselves. It's just the power of music."
Max told Sticks For Stones about the writing process for "Beneath The Remains": "It was a crazy time, man. At that time in Brazil, we only used to play five shows a year, so it was very slow and we were, like, really hungry — we wanted to do more. We knew we could do more. We knew we could be touring. It was a bit of frustration building inside the band, but we knew if we kept working, things will eventually pick up. I got a contract. I finally got a ticket to New York and dropped off a bunch of records in New York and one [label] was Roadrunner and Monte [Conner] called us back and gave us a contract. We were on cloud nine. Recording for the first time with a real label and with a producer. Scott [Burns, producer] came to Rio and did 'Beneath The Remains'. We worked really hard on 'Beneath The Remains' and I think it shows the maturity of the band. You can tell from 'Beneath The Remains' to 'Arise' that grew, also, again. 'Arise' is a different beast from 'Beneath The Remains'. I think together, these two records, they were made for each other. I think 'Beneath The Remains' and 'Arise', if you listen to them together, it's more fun than separate. That's why I had this idea to do the shows, it was Igor's idea to do both records together. I think it was genius. It was really good. We eliminated some of the fillers that we think wasn't that exciting, stuff like 'Subtraction' and 'Meaningless Movements' — those were fillers. We just played the 'hits.' [Laughs] It's a full, aggressive, brutal, all just metal, late '80s. That era in metal was great. It was what I called the 'golden era of metal.' We had us, you had OBITUARY, you had MORBID ANGEL, DEATH and then in Europe, ENTOMBED, CARCASS, GODFLESH. Fuck, man, it was the exciting era of metal. We rode that high with touring. The 'Arise' tour was great; 15 months that took us around the world, Indonesia, Australia, Russia and it was the beginning of it. So, yeah, I look back with really fond memories of that time and that's why it's so cool to play these records nowadays. It kind of makes us remember some of the good times we had and appreciate the record and I really appreciate being back with Igor and be able to do this with him again. It's even more fun and it sounds even better 30 years later. The record sounds better than they did when they first [came out]. It's like we injected new life into those songs and they're even better live now than they were. It's a really, really fun, exciting thing to be able to do this right now in our career."
Speaking about SEPULTURA's musical growth on "Arise", Max said: "I think it was the fact that we started touring on 'Beneath The Remains'. We started seeing the world — we went to America; we went to Europe. It opened a lot of doors for us and made us realize we can do more, and we should do more. We started listening to stuff like FEAR FACTORY and a lot of hardcore and MINISTRY, so the album has an industrial kind of vibe... It was just what we were exposed to, but I think it's still death/thrash as fuck. I mean, 'Arise', to me, is the ultimate death/thrash song of all time. I heard ABORTED doing a cover of 'Arise' that just freaked me out how good it was and how cool it was. It made me really realize how cool the song is. 'Arise' is a bad-ass song from beginning to end."
In 1996, Max exited SEPULTURA after the rest of the band split with Max's wife Gloria as their manager.
Igor left SEPULTURA in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." His departure from the band came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their son (who was born in January 2006).
The current SEPULTURA lineup — featuring guitarist Andreas Kisser and bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. alongside Derrick Green on vocals and Eloy Casagrande on drums — will release its new studio album, "Quadra", on February 7, 2020 via Nuclear Blast.

North Carolina progressive deathcore group, Krosis, have unveiled a live drum playthrough video, showcasing Dan Cece's outstanding chops while playing through the band's new song "Psychoticlysm". The track is off of the band's new album, A Memoir of Free Will, out on February 7 via Unique Leader.

It is the apex of our evolution over the past year in a musical sense, but also in a personal sense. We wanted a huge conceptual vision coupled with an equally huge sound that was refined and honed, yet still undeniably Krosis. We couldn't be prouder to say that this album is all that and more. We wanted something big, really big; something that a listener couldn't digest in just one or two listens. We've never been more excited to present a creation to you all and hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

IHSAHN Releases Music Video For 'Stridig'
EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn will release "Telemark", the first of two new five-song EPs, on February 14 via Candlelight. The effort will represent the heavier side of Ihsahn's music, while the companion EP — to be released at a later date — will show his more progressive side.
"Telemark" track listing:
01. Stridig
02. Nord
03. Telemark
04. Rock And Roll Is Dead (LENNY KRAVTIZ cover)
05. Wrathchild (IRON MAIDEN cover)
The official music video for "Stridig" can be seen below.
"Having released full-length records nearly every second year since I was 16, I felt it might be time to try something else," Ihsahn, whose real name is Vegard Sverre Tveitan, told U.K.'s Prog magazine. "Also, I wanted to approach what I do in a way that felt natural but also to try to adapt it to the way that music is now performed and experienced. I have seven solo albums out now, so the first EP is like a small recap, in a way. I did touch on some of the same thematics with 'Arktis', but this time it's closer to home, both musically and, dare I say, culturally."
He continued: "The plan is to then follow up this EP with its aesthetic and musical counterpart, wherein I can distil all those more progressive, experimental and mellow elements of my music. Ultimately, it's all a means for me to get some of those ideas out of my system, giving myself space before I delve into the next album."
Regarding the "Telemark" title, Ihsahn said: "It's the county I grew up in and still live in, so the whole thing is situated there and very much inspired by that. So you could say it's a roots-orientated album. I decided early on that I wanted this to be very purely related to black metal aesthetics. I wanted to distil the basic, bare bones black metal influences of my musical roots, given the overall concept, writing something for and from Telemark. I decided to do Norwegian lyrics for the first time, too. It feels very much closer to home in many ways."
Ihsahn spends most of his time touring and recording as a solo artist, while continuing to support EMPEROR's legacy with live reunion shows every few years,
His seventh solo album, "Ámr", came out in May 2018 via Candlelight/Spinefarm.

Listen To Title Track Of New BODY COUNT Album, 'Carnivore'
"Carnivore", the title track of the new album from BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by hip-hop legend, actor and director Ice-T, can be streamed below. The LP is tentatively due in early 2020 via Century Media.
Back in June 2018, Ice-T told Iain Chambers that BODY COUNT wanted to up the ante with its next album after setting a high standard with its last two studio releases.
"When we did [2014's] 'Manslaughter', it was 20 years [since the previous record], and I just wanted to see if we had a fanbase, and we did," he said. "We outdid 'Manslaughter' with 'Bloodlust', and the posse grew. So now we've gotta outdo 'Bloodlust'. That's our only goal — not to make the greatest rock album in history; it's just to outdo 'Bloodlust'."
According to Ice-T, he decided to call BODY COUNT's new album "Carnivore" because "people are getting so soft. It's okay for me to say, 'Oh, I'm a vegan,' or, 'I'm a vegetarian,'" he explained. "I say I'm carnivorous — I only eat meat. People go, 'What the fuck?' I think the person that's gonna come get you won't be a vegetarian; it will be [someone] carnivorous."
"Bloodlust" was released in March 2017. The disc included contributions from MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine, SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's Max Cavalera and LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe.
"Bloodlust" was recorded with producer Will Putney (MISS MAY I, UPON A BURNING BODY), who also helmed "Manslaughter". The effort contained BODY COUNT's medley of the SLAYER songs "Postmortem" and "Raining Blood".

WALKWAYS Premier Official Music Video For "Till The End"
Israeli metallers, Walkways, have released a video for "Till The End", the opening track of their new album, Bleed Out, Heal Out, available via via Nuclear Blast. Watch below:
Bleed Out, Heal Out journeys through six chapters. It begins with a heart break and a deep disappointment, goes into a struggle with the urge to avenge and let a darker side take over, from there comes the chapter of release and unchaining from the burden of trauma. Then comes the step of letting someone new in to your life, the stage of loving again. Following that is a contemplation of the outside world - being horrified by our ways as human beings (wars, environmental pollution and animal abuse) and a strong desire to correct and evolve as one and a shout out to change as a whole.
To end the album, there is a recurring chapter of convergence due to the shock from the outside world, which is again flooded with great disappointment and a kind of despair from the current situation, but the deep desire to correct and transcend the internal and external chaos is always preserved.
Tracklisting:
"Till The End"
"Hell Born Shove (Impossible)"
"Despair (For Heaven's Sake)"
"Half The Man I Am"

NEAERA Announce Reunion And New Self-Titled Album; "Torchbearer" Music Video Streaming
After announcing their farewell tour in 2015, Neaera has now re-formed. The band is ready to release a new self-titled album via Metal Blade Records on February 28.
Neaera's fire was first rekindled when the band played two exclusive shows in 2018. "We have been overwhelmed by the reactions," comments singer Benjamin Hilleke. "None of us was expecting that and it was the moment when the fire was de-fact again!"
A little while later Tobias Buck started to come up with new song ideas: "I just really got up to it again and met directly with our friend and later producer Trisan Hachmeister to record a few things in his studio for testing purposes. The other guys were immediately fished-on from the first auditions. A few months later, we sat down together at one table and decided to record another album together."
For the mixing and mastering the band got Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn, a.o.) on board. "Hansen already did a great job with our albums 'Let The Tempest Come' and 'Armamentarium'. This is exactly the sound we wanted to have back on this album," says Buck happily.
For a preview of Neaera, the video for the first single, "Torchbearer" can be seen below.
The album is available for pre-order here in the following formats:
- digipak-CD
- box set (digipak CD, bonus demo CD, pin, sweat band, patch - limited to 3000 copies)

- ochre brown marbled vinyl (US exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
* exclusive bundles with shirts, plus digital options are also available!
Neaera is playing an exclusive club show on February 29 in their home town of Münster, Germany. Tickets for this intimate happening are only available via the pre-order bundle.
Founded in 2003, Neaera has been with Metal Blade Records since 2004, releasing six albums during this time. For their upcoming self-titled record, they decided to work with professionals and studios that have contributed to the band's history: drums were recorded in the Docma Klang Studio in Osnabrück (where the demo was recorded in 2004); Jacob Hansen handled mixing and mastering duties; artwork was created by Terje Johnsen (who also handled the art for 2007's Armamentarium, 2009's Omnicide - Creation Unleashed, 2010's Forging The Eclipse). The result is an album that reflects 100% of Neaera's trademarks.

TODAY IS THE DAY Premieres "No Good To Anyone" Single; New Album To See Release Through BMG
BMG welcomes visionary metal outfit, Today Is The Day, to the label's massive roster, confirming the band's new LP, No Good To Anyone, for release in early 2020.
No Good To Anyone was recorded and mastered by Today Is The Day's Steve Austin, who offers, "I fuckin' love my new album, No Good To Anyone. I wanted to make the heaviest and most rocking, psychedelic songs possible. To take you on a trip. Anything goes at any second. No Good To Anyone is an experience. No Good To Anyone is beginning of the end of your life."
Along with the the cover art, commissioned to Jef Whitehead (Leviathan, Lurker Of Chalice), the title track to No Good To Anyone can be streamed below.
No Good To Anyone will see release through BMG in February 2020. Watch for full details on the album to be issued in early January alongside new audio and video previews of the album, tour dates, and more.
Today Is The Day has been one of the most groundbreaking and unclassifiable entities in experimental music for nearly thirty years, achieving notoriety on fabled bastions of both noise-rock (Amphetamine Reptile) and metal (Relapse, Southern Lord). For such a bold and uncompromising artist, frontman Steve Austin has been a reliably prolific fixture both on wax and the live stage. Although TITD's last album, Animal Mother, emerged six long years ago, he has played out frequently in the interim: with Kayo Dot, Abigail Williams and Weedeater from 2015 through 2017; a month with Soulfly and Nailbomb in 2018; high-profile one-offs at Psycho Las Vegas and Maryland Deathfest later that year; even the occasional European tour. Album number eleven was taking a while, sure, but fans probably assumed the machine was running as smoothly as ever.
They had no idea what Austin endured in the preceding three years. No Good To Anyone represents the literal sound of a man rising from the darkest and lowest point of his life to a new plateau, delivering one of the most dynamic and poignant records in Today Is The Day's enduring and ongoing legacy.
Steve Austin has performed on and produced Burn The Priest, the self-titled album from the band that would evolve into Grammy-nominated juggernaut Lamb Of God, introduced the world to half of Grammy-winning juggernaut Mastodon by showcasing Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor as the rhythm section on Today Is The Day's crushing 1999 LP In The Eyes Of God, toured with first-ballot extreme music Hall Of Famers ranging from Motörhead and Morbid Angel to Neurosis and the Melvins, has been called onstage to share his unmistakable voice with iconic veterans Brutal Truth, Napalm Death and Sick Of It All, and more.

COHEED AND CAMBRIA Releases Animated Holiday Video For 'Toys'
Modern progressive rock band COHEED AND CAMBRIA has released an official music video for "Toys", which is featured on the group's acclaimed new LP "The Unheavenly Creatures". The animated holiday clip, titled "The Unheavenly Christmas Carol", was developed by the band's frontman Claudio Sanchez and directed by Alek Wasilewski. The video debuted earlier today via Funny Or Die, which professed: "We're in the middle of 45's impeachment... that's a lot to try and cope with during the holiday season, but COHEED AND CAMBRIA's here to meld holiday bliss with democratic shit-shows."
Sanchez remarked: "I've wanted to 'toy' with a Santa story for some time. I guess, no better time than the present. And for Jolly Ole' to decide if he's Naughty or Nice? The President."
Last month, COHEED AND CAMBRIA announced the S.S. Neverender, the band's very own immersive festival at sea, which promptly sold out in three days during the pre-sale. The S.S. Neverender, which sets sail aboard the Norwegian Pearl on October 26-30, 2020 from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas, will see the band performing early songs and deep cuts from its catalog. The cruise will also find COHEED AND CAMBRIA bringing its sci-fi concept, "The Amory Wars", to life with several on-board installations, and will include additional performances from TAKING BACK SUNDAY, THRICE, THE DEAR HUNTER, POWER TRIP, POLYPHIA, THANK YOU SCIENTIST, SHEER MAG, CULTURE ABUSE, TORCHE, FIRE DEUCE, WEERD SCIENCE, 3, RADKEY, HAIL THE SUN and PEELANDER-Z.
COHEED AND CAMBRIA recently canceled its remaining 2019 tour dates in order to allow drummer Josh Eppard time to recover in full from a heart operation.
"The Unheavenly Creatures" was released last year. The 78-minute disc debuted in the Top 15 of the Billboard 200 chart.
Comprised of Sanchez, Eppard, Travis Stever (guitar) and Zach Cooper (bass), COHEED AND CAMBRIA has gripped listeners and press around the globe with its visionary compositions and conceptual mastery. | +1

$25,000 Reward From OZZY OSBOURNE Remains For Return Of All Stolen RANDY RHOADS Items
Following a Thanksgiving burglary of a variety of historical Randy Rhoads instruments and memorabilia, Ozzy Osbourne is still offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction and/or return of the remaining missing items. The reward will be disbursed upon the return of all the missing items.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Grammy-winning singer and songwriter made the appeal via an announcement on social media. While some items were recovered, the most valuable ones remain missing.
The robbery occurred Thanksgiving night (November 28) at the Musonia School Of Music in North Hollywood, California, the school where Randy Rhoads famously taught guitar and which was run by Randy's late mother Delores. Following Randy's death 37 years ago, the school drew fans from all over the world as a place where the Rhoads family happily opened their hearts to share the life of Randy.
"As you can imagine, the items that were viciously stolen, including Randy's first electric guitar, are irreplaceable to the Rhoads family," Ozzy says "I am heartbroken that these treasured physical memories of Randy and Delores have been taken from the family so I've decided to personally offer a reward."
Anyone with information regarding the theft, should reach out to Nick D'Argenzio, 818-281-7893 (phone) or e-mail: [email protected]
The stolen items are as follows: The stolen items are as follows:
* Randy Rhoads's first electric guitar owned, Harmony Rocket, est. 1963
* Randy Rhoads series Marshall head, rare prototype No. 1 or 2 given to the family by Marshall company.
Several items belonging to the legendary OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist and his family were recovered over the weekend.
Local resident Bobbi Fredriksz says she spotted a guitar and photos in a dumpster as she was walking her dog early Sunday morning. She initially didn't think anything of it until she got home and saw a report about the theft on ABC7.
"As I was laying in bed, not feeling well, when it came on I was like wait a minute, oh my God," Fredriksz told ABC7. "I ran all the way back over here it was still here. Somebody else started to see it and called police."
Musonia School Of Music was founded in 1948, as a place where children and adults in the local community could receive music education at an affordable price. Run today by Delores's son Kelle Rhoads, Musonia continues to teach local students of all ages piano, drums, and guitar.
Randy Rhoads learned how to play guitar at Musonia. After his passing, Musonia now serves a dual role as a music school and the Randy Rhoads museum.
Randy Rhoads and two others were killed on March 19, 1982 when the small plane they were flying in at Flying Baron Estates in Leesburg, Florida struck Ozzy's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion. Rhoads was 25 years old.
Delores Rhoads died in November 2015 at the age of 95.
Randy paid homage to Delores with "Dee", a beautiful classical guitar piece on OZZY OSBOURNE's 1980 album "Blizzard Of Ozz". | +9
