KVELERTAK To Release 'Splid' Album In February
Rise Records has announced the signing of Norwegian rockers KVELERTAK. The band will release its new album, "Splid", on February 14, 2020. The follow-up to 2016's "Nattesferd" will mark the band's first release since the departure of longtime frontman Erlend Hjelvik and addition of Ivar Nikolaisen.
The first single from the disc, "Bråtebrann", can be streamed below.
"We are very excited that our new album, 'Splid', will be released through Rise Records and we look forward to being a part of the Rise family in the coming years," the band says. "'Splid' ('discord' in English) is a deep dive into western gluttony, our own stupidity, and the abyss of the earth."
"Splid" was recorded with Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts.
"Working with Kurt again has been amazing and we're extremely happy with the production," the band continues. "We've pushed ourselves to the edge this last year — musically, physically, and mentally. The result is one hour of catchy riffs, punk rock, and heavy metal influenced by a world in discord to accompany our way towards Ragnarok."
"Splid" track listing:
01. Rogaland
02. Crack Of Doom (feat. Troy Sanders)
03. Necrosoft
04. Discord
05. Bråtebrann
06. Uglas Hegemoni
07. Fanden Ta Dette Hull!
08. Tevling
09. Stevnemøte Med Satan
10. Delirium Tremens
11. Ved Bredden Av Nihil
KVELERTAK guitarist Vidar Landa told Ireland's Overdrive that the singer switch "was seamless in a way. We knew that Erlend wanted to quit and do other stuff," he said. "We were lucky that we had that close connection with Ivar. He's been part of KVELERTAK for a long time and has sung on a few tracks for us in the past, doing backing vocals. We've toured together in the past also so he was really the only one that we were thinking of to replace him when Erlend was first talking about leaving. Luckily, Ivar wanted to do it and it's all just fit really well, thankfully. It would have been much harder to go through the audition process and undergo that process of looking for a new vocalist. We were very lucky for the way it all happened."
Nikolaisen made his live debut with KVELERTAK in July 2018 at the Fjellparkfestivalen in Flekkefjord, Norway.

HOUSE OF SHAKIRA Streaming New Song "Not Alone"
Frontiers Music Srl will release House Of Shakira's new album, Radiocarbon, on December 6. You can listen to the song "Not Alone" below, and pre-order the album here.
Radiocarbon is House Of Shakira's ninth original studio album and shows the band gaining even more maturity and depth in the songwriting department and truly operating at the top of their game.
Singer Andreas Novak says, "We are very proud to release this particular record with Frontiers. We are certainly in good company, but what counts most is that "Radiocarbon" is truly our strongest and most substantial record ever. Also, thanks to the mighty Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) for the outstanding production job he did on this record. Hold onto your hats!"
Originally formed in Stockholm, Sweden around 1991, House Of Shakira released their debut album, Lint in 1997. They have a unique sound that stands out amongst other bands in their genre as they craft melodic hard rock of the highest quality with vocals that soar, melodies that rise, and guitars that bring it all together. All these components make for a sensational listening experience. Because of the diversity of the lyrics and the music, House Of Shakira does not fall under your typical hard rock classification and appeals to a musically inclined audience and fan community. The band's motto is "try every idea with an open mind", meaning that every member of the band contributes their personal musical ideas: writing the lyrics, rhythm patterns, chord changes, and crafting special melodies.
The band is currently plotting European tour dates for 2020, so stay tuned for more news on that soon.

Brazil's SCULPTOR Sign With Frontiers Music Srl; Melodic Death Metal Band To Release New Album In 2020
Frontiers Music Srl announces the signing of melodic death metal band, Sculptor. Hailing from Brazil, the band joins the label's rapidly expanding metal roster. The band is currently working on their debut album for the label, anticipated for release in 2020.
Based in the city of Curitiba (coincidentally and by happy accident, also the home of labelmates Semblant, Landfall Band, and Electric Mob too), the band was founded in 2015 by Vinne (vocals, guitars) and Rick Eraser (vocals), who are joined by Caco Ramos (bass), Fabricio Reis (guitars), and Mateus Schran (drums).
Their debut album, Untold Secrets, was recorded at the band's studio in Curitiba, produced by Vinne and Rick, and mixed by Linus Corneliusson at Fascination Street Studios (Sweden). A showcase of the complex influences the musicians acquired through their previous projects, for the uninitiated, the band's style can be described as musically akin to early era albums from Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Soilwork, and Tiamat.
For a taste of the band's style, check out the single "Oblivion"
For melodic death metal fans and metal fans in general, Sculptor are a band to keep an eye on. Stay tuned for more news in 2020.

SAVATAGE's Gutter Ballet Album Turns 30, Guitarist CHRIS CAFFERY Looks Back - "It Was A Very Special Time In My Life"
Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery has checked in with the following look back to the band's Gutter Ballet albumn, released in 1989:
"Thirty years ago today (December 1st) this classic metal record saw its first release date! It remained on metal and hard rock radio for over a full year! It was the metal radio album of the year in 1990. We filmed a video for this song later this month. We filmed it in Alphabet City New York. The temperature was about 4 degrees I believe with wind chills way below zero! Fitting for the arrival of this current storm! January we hit the road for the start of a 10 month tour. It was a very special time in my life."
Caffery officially joined the band in 1989. He had been playing rhythm guitar and keyboards offstage on the band's Hall Of The Mountain King tour cycle prior to being made a full member. He didn't play on the Gutter Ballet album, but was credited with guitars and keyboards and was pictured in the album's booklet "both to prepare the fans for the line-up they'd see on tour and confirm his permanent member status". Despite this, Caffery left the band after the Gutter Ballet tour for personal reasons, but kept writing music with frontman Jon Oliva and would later return to Savatage during the second half of the '90s.

ELUVEITIE - "The Slumber" Hurdy Gurdy Playthrough Featuring MICHALINA MALISZ Posted
Swiss folk metal superstars Eluveitie have released a playthrough video for their song “The Slumber”, from their latest album, Ategnatos. The new video features a performance of the track on the hurdy gurdy by Michalina Malisz. Watch below.
Order Eluveitie's Ategnatos here..
Recordings of Ategnatos took place in their beloved New Sound Studio with their engineer of choice Tommy Vetterli. “Yet it was radically different as we only had four weeks to record this time around - as compared to the eight weeks we had for Origins.” By taking mixing duties to the skilled hand of renowned studio wizard Jens Bogren in his Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, Eluveitie returned to the very spot where they mixed their now legendary Slania album more than ten years ago.
With Ategnatos, the dedicated nine-piece not only worked with a real string quartet (a premiere!) and granted Fabienne Erni’s sublime mastery of the harp the room it deserved; they also undertook a holistic upgrade resulting in some of the most catchy, most aggressive or most epic tunes the Swiss metal nobility has ever offered.
Tracklisting:
"Ategnatos"
"Ancus"
"Deathwalker"
"Black Water Dawn"
"A Cry in the Wilderness"
"The Raven Hill"
"The Silvern Glow"

Eluveitie have joined forces with Lacuna Coil and Infected Rain. The band states: "Our last few months have been extremely intense, creating Ategnatos. Now we simply cannot wait to bring our new songs to the stages and to share our passion, pure fucking metal and heartfelt Celtic mysticism with you all! And all the more we're excited to bring such great bands with us! We feel honoured to team up with our fellows of the heavyweight institution called Lacuna Coil and also with the amazing wizkid that is Infected Rain, whom we've shared festival stages with a few times already!"
Lacuna Coil adds: "Transformation is a process and as life happens you need tons of new music! That’s why we are really excited to team up with Eluveitie and our buddies in Infected Rain for this fantastic tour package. The bill is pretty diverse and interesting and we can’t wait to bring it around Europe. We will play some of our classic songs and introduce some new tunes! We know this tour is going to be rocking, and we know the fans are going to enjoy this as much as we are!"

He said about the record in general: "This album has not been fucking easy to make. There was always somebody fucking quitting. Somebody wants to fire another guy, somebody's unhappy with someone's lifestyle. These things happen on a daily basis."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's new disc was once again helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio.
Bathory recently said that the band's new LP could be its best yet. He said: "We have a little pie that we belong to in the musical spectrum, and within that, the grooves — there are these big, nasty grooves that feel just heavier and grimier, and that's kind of what's happening. The energy of what's in the band now is affecting this process."
The drums on the disc were laid down by Charlie "The Engine" Engen, who made his live debut with the group during its fall 2018 tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN. He stepped in for original drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left the band in December 2018 due to a back injury.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH also announced today that it will kick off the second leg of its current U.S. arena headline tour in April 2020, featuring special guests PAPA ROACH, I PREVAIL, as well as highly acclaimed newcomer ICE NINE KILLS. The tour is co-produced by Frank Productions and Live Nation.
VIP presale, artist presale, and Cyber Monday presale begins today at 10:00 a.m. (local time). Citi is the official presale credit card of the tour. As such, Citi cardmembers will have access to purchase U.S. presale tickets beginning Tuesday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m. (local time) until Thursday, December 5 at 10:00 p.m. through Citi's Entertainment program. Local promoter venue and radio presales will kick off on Thursday, December 5 at 10:00 a.m. (local time). Tickets will go on-sale to the general public beginning Friday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. (local time).

Video Premiere: DREAM THEATER's 'At Wit's End'
DREAM THEATER, twice Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans, have released the official music video for the song "At Wit's End", taken from the CD/Blu-ray edition of the band's latest album, "Distance Over Time".
Released in February, "Distance Over Time" showcases a newfound creativity for DREAM THEATER while maintaining the elements that have garnered them devoted fans around the globe. The album also marks the first for the band's new label InsideOut Music. The artwork was created by longtime cover collaborator Hugh Syme (RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, STONE SOUR). "Distance Over Time" was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, mixed by Ben Grosse and mastered by Tom Baker.
Said Petrucci: "When I listen back to the album, I can distinctly recall every moment of the writing process; where I was standing in the room, what inspired us in that instant and the meaning behind each song. As a producer, my goal was to try and create the best-sounding DREAM THEATER record we've ever made so that listeners can just be enveloped in the music. I really wanted this recording to truly reflect the spirit, joy and passion that went into making the album and for people to walk away feeling some of the organic nature, personality and raw energy that the band captured while together in the studio. For me, I think it accomplishes that and I hope that other people will feel the same way."
In June 2018, the members of DREAM THEATER secluded themselves in a private location in upstate New York to begin writing for the new record. While spending the summer living together in the property's adjacent residence, the band spent their days and nights crafting the music that would make up the new album in the "Yonderbarn"; a beautiful and spacious barn that had been meticulously transformed into a state-of-the art film and recording studio. Following an intense and extremely productive period of group writing sessions and wanting to retain the magic that was captured in this scenic and inspiring location, they decided to record the album in the very room they had all convened to write together in. Living together during the writing and recording for "Distance Over Time" marked another first for the band's 33-year career. The result is a heavier collection of songs that showcases the early roots of the band while exploring new territory as musicians and as friends.
"It was like going back to summer camp," said singer James LaBrie. "Being around each other the whole time made it that much more of a profound experience. I think the songs reflect the energy. It was a lot of fun to have a situation so powerful at this point in our career."

In March 2017, PEARL JAM released a new song called "Can't Deny Me". The just-over-two-and-a-half-minute track was co-produced by the band and Brendan O'Brien. The music for the song was written by guitarist Mike McCready and lyrics by singer Eddie Vedder. Artwork for the single was created by Ament and videographer Kevin Shuss. The song appears to take direct aim at President Donald Trump — albeit without mentioning his name.

SLIPKNOT's JAY WEINBERG Named World's Best Heavy Metal Drummer
SLIPKNOT's Jay Weinberg has been named winner of this year's Music Radar poll for "Best Metal Drummer". Jay earned almost twice as many votes as the rest of the entrants combined, a list which included such names as Paul Bostaph (SLAYER), Ray Luzier (KORN), Jocke Wallgren (AMON AMARTH), Art Cruz (LAMB OF GOD) and Chris Kontos (MACHINE HEAD).
The 29-year-old musician commented via Twitter: "It's an honor to receive the title of 'Best Metal Drummer' in @musicradar's 2019 Best In Drums poll. Thanks to everyone who voted. I sincerely appreciate your support and interest."
He continued: "Shout out to all the other incredible nominees. I'm endlessly inspired by this enormous community of drummers, and I'm grateful for every opportunity to experience their contributions to music.
"The best gratitude I can show is by giving everything I've got in every recording and every performance. Here's to a great 2019 and exciting 2020! See you out there."
Weinberg discovered SLIPKNOT when he was a pre-teen, through his father Max, of Bruce Springsteen's E STREET BAND, and leader of the house band on Conan O'Brien's talk show. He was hooked immediately and was a huge fan of SLIPKNOT by the time he was invited to Los Angeles to try out as replacement for Joey Jordison in 2013.
For the first few months after the release of 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter", the members of SLIPKNOT had declined to name the musicians who were playing drums and bass on their tour, despite the fact that their identities were revealed as Weinberg and bassist Alessandro "Vman" Venturella by a disgruntled former drumtech for SLIPKNOT who posted a picture of a backstage call sheet on Instagram.
SLIPKNOT announced its split with Jordison in December 2013 but did not disclose the reasons for his exit. The drummer subsequently issued a statement saying that he did not quit the group.
Thank you.

WEDNESDAY 13 Releases Cover Of GARY NUMAN's 'Films'
Wednesday 13 has debuted an previously unreleased cover of Gary Numan's song "Films", from Numan's debut solo album, "The Pleasure Principle", which just turned 40 this past September. The track is taken from the sessions for Wednesday 13's recent album, "Necrophaze", and features guest vocals from Calico Cooper (daughter of Alice Cooper). The unique take on "Films" is available on all digital service providers today.
"Necrophaze" was released on September 27 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Heavily influenced by the real-life night terror occurrences of Wednesday himself, historical serial killers, and a slew of '80s horror films, the ideas behind "Necrophaze" are bizarrely familiar, frightening, and a hell of a lot of fun. Being a collector of both media and toys, Wednesday 13 was inspired by a craving for variety to create dual album artwork for this release (seen below). The covers showcase either end of the horror spectrum with a "Creepshow" comic book vibe for the LP artwork, and the eeriness of something akin to John Carpenter's "The Fog" adorning the CD.
"Necrophaze" was recorded by Michael Spreitzer, who is the producer, recording engineer and longtime guitarist of DEVILDRIVER, and is the first WEDNESDAY 13 record to feature guest spots, which include performances by Cooper, Roy Mayorga of STONE SOUR (who provides an eerie, authentic, '80s-inspired synth soundtrack-score to the album), Alexi Laiho of CHILDREN OF BODOM, and Cristina Scabbia of LACUNA COIL. Also making an appearance on the album is Jeff Clayton, member of legendary punk bands ANTISEEN and GG Allin's MURDER JUNKIES. | +2 | |

Watch TOM ARAYA Bid Emotional Goodbye To Fans At Last-Ever SLAYER Concert
Thousands of fans of SLAYER fans witnessed the band's last-ever concert at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Saturday night (November 30) during the second of two last tour dates dubbed "The Final Campaign".
At the conclusion of SLAYER's set, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya addressed the crowd, thanking the group's fans for supporting him and his bandmates for nearly four decades.
"Thank you. Thank you very much," he said. "I want to thank you for sharing your time with us. Time is precious. So I thank you for sharing that time with us. Thank you. I'm gonna miss you guys. But the most important thing I want to thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you. Good night. You guys be safe."
The setlist for the show was as follows:
01. South Of Heaven
02. Repentless
03. Postmortem
04. World Painted Blood
05. Hate Worldwide
06. War Ensemble
07. Stain Of Mind
08. Disciple
09. When The Stillness Comes
10. Born Of Fire
11. Payback
12. Seasons In The Abyss
13. Jesus Saves
14. Chemical Warfare
15. Hell Awaits
16. Dead Skin Mask
17. Show No Mercy
18. Raining Blood
19. Mandatory Suicide
20. Angel Of Death
SLAYER's final world tour began on May 10, 2018 with the band's intention to play as many places as possible, to make it easy for the fans to see one last SLAYER show and say goodbye. By the time the 18-month trek wrapped at the Forum, the band had completed seven tour legs plus a series of one-off major summer festivals, performing more than 140 shows in 30 countries and 40 U.S. states.
SLAYER's final world tour has been a wild ride. Three bus drivers, four truck drivers, and a crew of 32 have traveled all over the world to set the stage for this farewell. At most shows, SLAYER's pyro expert set off 160 pounds of propane and 10 liters of 99% isopropyl alcohol, prompting the Phoenix New Times reviewer to comment on the "eyebrow-singeing pyrotechnics that could be felt even 10 rows behind the pit." In Toronto, one diehard fan was ejected from the concert before SLAYER took the stage, so jumped into Lake Ontario (that surrounds the Budweiser Arena) and swam back to the venue. The Tampa Bay Times' Jay Cridlin wrote, "Beginning with the throttling opener 'Repentless', SLAYER tore through their set like a flaming cigarette boat across the river Styx, charring up a vicious circle pit by the stage," and Detroit's Gary Graff noted in his Oakland Press review the "10,000 headbangers who skipped the 'Game Of Thrones' finale to pay homage to the pioneering quartet." "The sheer physicality of their show was something to behold and was yet another indication that while the band may be calling it a career, they are going out on top, playing at their absolute best," wrote Andy Lindquist for the SF Sonic.
Araya talked about his possible retirement in a 2016 interview with Loudwire. He said: "At 35 years, it's time to collect my pension. [Laughs] This is a career move." He continued: "I'm grateful that we've been around for 35 years; that's a really long time. So, yeah, to me, it is. Because when we started off, everything was great, because you're young and invincible. And then there came a time where I became a family man, and I had a tough time flying back and forth. And now, at this stage, at the level we're at now, I can do that; I can fly home when I want to, on days off, and spend some time with my family, which is something I wasn't able to do when [my kids] were growing up. Now they're both older and mature. So now I take advantage of that." Araya added: "Yeah, it just gets harder and harder to come back out on the road. 35 years is a long time."
Tom also revealed another reason for his diminished enjoyment of the touring life. He said: "There's things that have gone on in my life that have made me change how I play as a bass player. I had neck surgery, so I can't headbang anymore. And that was a big part of what I enjoyed doing what I do — singing and headbanging. I liked knowing that I was one of the fucking badass headbangers. That played a big part. Now I just groove with the music, which is cool, because I'm grooving with the music and the feel of the songs, so that's changed a little for me."
SLAYER has been touring in support of its latest album, "Repentless", which was released in September 2015 via Nuclear Blast. That effort marked the band's first release since the death of SLAYER's co-founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman.
Hanneman contracted necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating disease, in January 2011 from a spider bite in his backyard. The infection ravaged the flesh and tissues of Hanneman's arm, leading to numerous surgeries, skin grafts and intense periods of rehab that forced him into semi-retirement and left him near death at several points.
Hanneman eventually died in May 2013 from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. He is credited for writing many of SLAYER's classic songs, including "Angel Of Death" and "South Of Heaven".
Original SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo was effectively fired from the band after sitting out the group's Australian tour in February/March 2013 due to a contract dispute with the other members of SLAYER. He has since been replaced by Paul Bostaph, who was previously SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band.

Watch JASON MOMOA Sing PANTERA's 'This Love' With PHILIP ANSELMO
Jason Momoa, the hulking star of the superhero film "Aquaman", joined PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS on stage last night (Saturday, November 30) at the Forum in Inglewood, California to perform the PANTERA classic "This Love".
After the concert, the Hawaiian-born actor, who is perhaps best-known for his role as Khal Drogo in HBO fantasy epic "Game Of Thrones", took to his Instagram to post a few photos and video clips (see below) of him hanging out backstage with Philip Anselmo as well as some of the show's other performers and attendees, including members of SLAYER, PRIMUS, ANTHRAX and METALLICA.
To view Jason's slideshow-type Instagram post below, swipe/click to see each image and video in the collection.
Momoa wrote in an accompanying message: "going on stage and yelling love love LOVE with my baby boy and PANTERA. aka @philiphanselmo and the illegals my mind was blown FUCKIN BLOWN. i was living out my childhood dreams. i am so thankful for those moments shared with dear friends and my babies.
"it's crazy to think of SLAYER and ANTHRAX and METALLICA as ohana but they are love u guys. and to finally meet Les Claypool was legendary PRIMUS. "SLAYERs last show on tour. what a fucking night. love you @garyholt_official @tomarayaofficial paul and kerry @slayerbandofficial mahalo for having da momoas. babies i hope you remember these moments with your papa forever back to work. aloha j"
Momoa previously said that he listened to a lot of PANTERA, METALLICA and MUDVAYNE to get himself into the right frame of mind for playing a warrior like Conan in Marcus Nispel's remake of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger action adventure "Conan The Barbarian". More recently, he tapped vocalist Oli Peters of the Canadian death metal band ARCHSPIRE to coach him on how to mimic his distinct vocal style for the early troop rallying scene in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series "See".
Last year, Momoa revealed that METALLICA and TOOL served as inspiration for his character in "Aquaman", telling Metal Hammer in an interview: "Aquaman's pretty metal. I know no one thinks that, but Aquaman's metal."
He singled out METALLICA's debut album, "Kill 'Em All", and the TOOL song "Ticks And Leeches" as two pieces of music that influenced his portrayal of Arthur Curry's alter-ego.

Ex-SCORPIONS Drummer JAMES KOTTAK: 'All Law Enforcement Should Be Men'
Former SCORPIONS and current KINGDOM COME drummer James Kottak says that all members of law enforcement "should be men."
It is unclear what prompted the rocker to make the comment, but it apparently had something to do with the wildfires currently blazing through California, where Kottak lives.
Earlier today, James took to his Twitter to write: "All law enforcement should be men...next time your house is on fire...who do you want 6'4"willie strong as an ox or 5'4" petite shellie? Jeez?! Please?!"
This is not the first time Kottak has used Twitter as a way to voice his controversial views. Last month, he tweeted that he was "sick" of seeing commercials featuring "interracial couples," insisting that "this is not reality." A month earlier, he raised eyebrows when he questioned whether climate change is real, writing in a series of since-deleted tweets: "Tell me when one time you have seen 'killed from climate change' or 'death from second hand smoke' appeared on a gravestone....and I am a total anti smoker... it's all b s"
Back in July, Kottak angered some people on the social media platform when he wrote that "Trump rules" and added that "anyone against America is a socialist communist asshole."
In June, Kottak, who calls himself a "news political junkie" on Twitter, made BLABBERMOUTH.NET headlines when he said that America should take care of its "homeless problem" before accepting any more "outsiders."
Kottak has spent much of the last year touring with the reunited KINGDOM COME, also featuring guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier, bassist Johnny B. Frank and singer Keith St. John (formerly of MONTROSE and LYNCH MOB).
In September 2016, Kottak was dismissed from SCORPIONS during his well-publicized battle with alcoholism and was replaced by former MOTÖRHEAD member Mikkey Dee.
SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs later said that he and his bandmates "had to make" the decision to fire Kottak, explaining that they gave the drummer "all the chances" to get better. "We reached the point — or he reached the point — where it was just not worth it," Jabs said.
Last fall, Kottak told Detroit's 101 WRIF radio station that his recovery was "a work in progress." He explained: "Over the last 10 years, I would say I was 90 percent sober, and then I'd have these struggles and I'd go through a bad two- or three-week period. So right now it's, like I said, to use a cliché, it's one day at a time and I work the program. I still go out, and if you wanna drink a bottle of Jack in front of me, go for it — [it's] no big deal — but it is, like I said, a work in progress."
All law enforcement should be men...next time your house is on fire...who do you want 6’4”willie strong as an ox or 5’4” petite shellie? Jeez?! Please?!

SLIPKNOT And EVANESCENCE Forced To Cancel Performances At KNOTFEST MEETS FORCEFEST Due To Broken Stage Barricade
SLIPKNOT and EVANESCENCE were forced to cancel their appearances at the first day of the Knotfest Meets Forcefest in Mexico City Saturday night (November 30) due to a security issue. According to reports, the stage barricade broke during BEHEMOTH's set and it was impossible to fix it in time for either of the two final bands to perform.
A short time later, SLIPKNOT released a statement about the cancelation. They said: "Because of a broken barricade and failed attempts to fix it, SLIPKNOT were forced to cancel our performance last night. Safety — especially the safety of our fans and fellow bands — is priority number one. We apologize profusely and hope you all understand. If anything were to happen to any of you, we wouldn't forgive ourselves. Also, if we could have fixed the barricade correctly, we would have gone on stage. Again, we hope you all understand and we will try to make it up to you as soon as we can."
In a video message, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee said: "Mexico City, we are so, so disappointed that we didn't get our chance to play for you tonight at Knotfest. The last couple of bands didn't get to play because of a safety issue with the barricades and it wasn't something that could be fixed. We are so sorry. We love you so much. We were waiting there, just like you, hoping that we would get our chance, but it didn't work out tonight. I don't know how, but somehow we are going to make it up to you. We love you so much. We'll see you next time."
The first-ever Knotfest Meets Forcefest is being held over two days at the Parque Deportivo Oceanía venue. This year, Knotfest joined forces with Forcefest, combining two massive festival brands over one weekend. The Knotfest day was scheduled to take place on Saturday, with Forcefest happening on Sunday, December 1, headlined by Rob Zombie.
Knotfest is the brainchild of SLIPKNOT and the band's longtime manager, Cory Brennan of 5B Artists And Media. Started in 2012, the brand has grown at an exponential rate and already seen expansion across the globe to Tokyo, Mexico City, France, Bogotá and, of course, the USA. With big plans to expand into further new territories in 2020, the cultural phenomenon that Knotfest has created shows no signs of slowing down.
SLIPKNOT is continuing to tour in support of its sixth studio album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which was released in August via Roadrunner Records.

AMBERIAN DAWN Covers ABBA's 'Lay All Your Love On Me'
With the first single, "United", already providing a hint of the musical direction their new album, "Looking For You", is headed, AMBERIAN DAWN's new version of ABBA's hit track "Lay All Your Love On Me" leaves nothing left to be questioned. This song is the perfect statement and sound honoring the Swedish pop giants.
Following in the footsteps of ABBA, Tuomas Seppälä recorded most of the keyboard parts directly in Benny Andersson's legendary studio on the original equipment that ABBA used to create their worldwide hits! This popular sound is spiced up with exciting keyboard and guitar details. "Capri" Päivi Selo's outstanding, emotional voice and the riff-driven AMBERIAN DAWN attitude create a powerful rejuvenation of ABBA's all-time pop classic "Lay All Your Love On Me" — pushing it to the next level.
Tuomas states: "This song is one of my ABBA favorites. I really like the sound and feeling of it. Before recording this song with my band, I hadn't ever done a cover version of any song. There's so many good bands out there I've loved during all these years so it was hard to choose just one song for covering. But since my musical taste has been a little bit 'lighter' lately, I decided to choose an ABBA song. It was even more obvious to me to choose this song after I got a chance to visit and record at Benny Andersson's studio in Stockholm."
"Looking For You" will be released on January 31, 2020 and enter a new, but still familiar-sounding, musical universe, mixing the best of both worlds into a new genre: "ABBA metal." The new album is packed with well-polished and immaculate songwriting full of catchy melodies and epic keyboard parts that immediately send shivers down your spine.
Since the band's music changed from power metal to symphonic metal over the last years, AMBERIAN DAWN is now navigating into yet another new style, which is even more melodic, keyboard-driven and influenced by the Swedish band ABBA. Therefore, they've been working closely with award-winning Finnish artist Kebu for over a month, to create the ingenious keyboard sound that can be heard on the recording.
AMBERIAN DAWN is:
Vocals: "Capri" Päivi Selo
Guitar: Emil Pohjalainen
Bass: Jukka Hoffren
Drums: Joonas Pykälä-aho
Keyboards: Tuomas Seppälä

DELAIN To Release 'Apocalypse & Chill' Album In February
Dutch symphonic metallers DELAIN will release their new full-length album, "Apocalypse & Chill", on February 7, 2020 via Napalm Records. The disc explores topics of impending doom and human indifference, making this the band's boldest, most daring and undeniable offering yet. MÖTLEY CRÜE's MICK MARS To Release Debut Solo Record In April 2020
MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars says that his debut solo record will arrive next April.
Mars has been working on the disc — on and off — for at least the past four years. The effort is being recorded in Nashville, where Mars has lived for about six years, with producer Michael Wagener (OZZY OSBOURNE, ACCEPT, WARRANT, SKID ROW) at Blackbird Studio.
After a CRÜE fan tweeted on November 25 that he hoped Mick's solo record was nearing completion, the guitarist replied: "No one will ever stand in the way of my solo record. Ever. Watch for it in April . 2020."
This past September, Mars told Billboard about the musical direction of his solo material: "[It's] not like today's music, which to me is pretty much pop metal and more growly guys. It's all cool and it's all good, and I'm just searching for something that's just a little different than that. I [also] don't want to be living in '85. It's hard to reinvent yourself, but that's what I'm doing now. I'm trying to reinvent the way that I approach music writing. I've got a lot of crap, and I've got a lot of good stuff too."
Mars said that he has been working with a vocalist named Jacob — with some fans speculating that he was referring to Jacob Bunton (ADLER, LYNAM) — on some of his new material. "[He] can be a lot of different voices, and it's pretty amazing," Mick said. "I go, 'I want this kind of voice here,' and he'll pull it straight off."
In a separate interview with "Talking Metal", Mars said that his debut solo record will not sound like anybody else. "Well, I guess it's my own style," he said. "It isn't really blues. My playing has a blues element to it, of course, but it isn't what you would call a blues record. It's more of a heavier rock thing, but I don't wanna even try to 'outheavy' the heavies, you know what I mean? It's just something hopefully just a little different than what's going on now. You're not gonna hear a MÖTLEY-flavored song, except for the guitar, [because] that's me. They're gonna be a bit harder than that, but not as hard as the heavies, like MINISTRY and some of those guys."
Back in 2016, Mars released snippets of two solo songs, apparently called "Gimme Blood" and "Shake The Cage". The tracks, which were recorded at Blackbird Studio, featured singer John Corabi, who appeared on CRÜE's 1994 self-titled album. Corabi later said that he didn't contribute to the writing process for the two songs, but that he was open to collaborating with Mars on some brand new material.
Earlier this week, Mars said he was "clearly joking" when he said in 2014 that he would "invite the world to come for free" if MÖTLEY CRÜE ever reunited following its 2014/2015 farewell tour. Mars added that he was "wrong" at the time to say that the band would never tour again after completing what was billed as its final trek.
On November 18, MÖTLEY CRÜE posted a video explaining that due to the group "becoming more popular than ever" and "gaining an entirely new legion of fans" in the four years they've been off the road, the band was coming out of retirement. They will reportedly embark on a stadium tour with DEF LEPPARD and POISON in 2020, but that has yet to be officially confirmed.
No one will ever stand in the way of my solo record. Ever.
Watch for it in April . 2020. ??

RAVENWORD Featuring Former TEMPERANCE Singer CHIARA TRICARICO Sign Worldwide Deal With Rockshots Records; "No More" Single Streaming
Symphonic power metal band Ravenword has signed a worldwide deal with Rockshots Records to release their one-time studio album, Transcendence', on January 31, 2020.
Inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe’s novel The Raven, the Milan-based band was originally formed in 2007 by keyboardist and composer Davide Scuteri (Choirs Of Veritas). After several years of activity, which included a self-titled demo, the band went on a brief hiatus, re-grouping in 2016 when singer Chiara Tricarico (Temperance, Sound Storm, Moonlight Haze), drummer Michele Olmi (Chronosfear, Skeleeton) and bass / guitar player Cesare Ferrari (Choirs Of Veritas) joined the band, in order to create a one-time studio album that embodies the whole history of the band.
With Transcendence, Ravenword captures the romantic and decadent poetic themes typical of Edgar Allan Poe’s period, combined with an equally decadent symphonic metal sound. In line with Ravenword's ode to poetry, the title Transcendence was chosen to symbolize the idea of always going beyond one’s perception of reality and seeking deeper meanings.

KNASTERBART Debut Official Music Video For "Laich Mich Ein"; New Album Out Now
German folk rock collective, Knasterbart, have released a video for "Laich Mich Ein", featured on their Napalm Records debut, Perlen vor die Säue, out now. Watch below:
Knasterbart have steered clear of all things golden and glamorous and chosen the hard life of a bunch of partying hicks instead: These seven dudes keep finding the stars in the gutter and have done so since 2012, churning out truly unique folk rock full of lewd humor, naughty daydreams and a healthy dose of self-mockery courtesy of musicians of Versengold and Mr. Hurley & Die Pulveraffen.
Perlen vor die Säue is a smorgasbord of catchy and tongue-in-cheek songs full of outlaw party flavor ("Ringelpiez am Kiez"), tear-jerking moments ("Bambis Mama") and a peculiar love/hate relationship with Christmas ("Herzchen im Schnee"). This is a hefty, rough-and-ready album for all future piglets and those who already know how to grunt!
