RED DEATH's Sickness Divine Album Out Now; "(Refuse To Be) Bound By Chains" Music Video Streaming
 Washington D.C. crossover thrashers, Red Death, have released their third studio album and Century Media Records debut, Sickness Divine. A video filmed by David Thelen & Norman Heiner during the band’s recent European tour with Cro-Mags is being launched today for the song, “(Refuse To Be) Bound By Chains”.
Vocalist/bassist Chad Troncale checked in with the following comment about “(Refuse To Be) Bound By Chains”: “I resist life’s oppression and prefer to live my life by my rules. It’s very much a “Robin Hood” minded song. Featuring four lines written by one of my favorite lyricists, Mr. Jason Tarpey (Eternal Champion / Iron Age).”
Produced by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Sacred Reich), the album's physical release will be available as limited first-pressing Digipak CD with a bonus track (Misfits cover of "Death Comes Ripping") and a sticker or as Gatefold LP on 180gr. vinyl with poster.

Red Death have announced a co-headline North American Expedition tour with Enforced. The band will be in on tour starting January 4 in Washington D.C. and wrapping on January 31 in Brooklyn, NY.
"We are very excited to finally begin our worldwide promotion of Sickness Divine," states Red Death vocalist and bassist Chad Troncale. "We haven't played a lot of these cities in almost two years so we are thrilled to visit new, as well as familiar, scenes around the country. See you soon!"

Cattle Decapitation have never shied away from confronting the awfulness wrought upon the natural world by the human race, and Death Atlas is their bleakest offering to date. The cover art says it all: a stooped, skeletal Grim Reaper carrying the burnt-out husk of our planet on his back.
"The core concept of this record is humanity's insignificance despite what we've convinced ourselves," explains vocalist Travis Ryan. "That's kind of why this album cover takes place in space, to remind you that 'the universe always finds a way to purge'. In the grand scheme of things, our species is merely a fleeting thought."
This imagery is backed up with a ferocious soundtrack, which includes elements of death metal, grindcore, black metal, sludge, doom, drone - with Ryan's vocals broader and more fully realized than ever before.
Produced once again by Dave Otero (flatlineaudio.com), Death Atlas also features a number of guests: Laure Le Prunenec (Igorrr, Ricinn), Riccardo Conforti (Void of Silence), Dis Pater (Midnight Odyssey), Jon Fishman (Phish) - plus, brass instrumentalists from Ottone Pesante. The end result of these experimentations and collaborations is one of the most devastating records of 2019, and it demands an emotional response.

GREAT AMERICAN GHOST Signs With eOne; Power Through Terror Album Due In February; "Prison Of Hate" Music Video Streaming
 Boston's Great American Ghost has signed a worldwide record deal with Entertainment One (eOne) with plans to release a new LP, Power Through Terror, on February 14.
Produced by Will Putney (Counterparts, Harm's Way, Terror), this will serve as the follow-up to 2017's Hatred Stems From The Seed. The new music video for "Prison Of Hate" was directed by Eric Richter and is the first bit of music we're seeing and hearing from the group from the all-new LP. Watch the clip below.
The band just wrapped up a successful European run on the Never Say Die! Tour alongside Crystal Lake, In Hearts Wake, King 810, and more. Great American Ghost will head back out on the road with Bodysnatcher in January.
Extreme music is aggressive by nature, but Great American Ghost may be the angriest sounding band of all time. The group returns with ten songs of absolute fury, Power Through Terror. They direct old-school hardcore wrath at hypocrisy, apathy, and self-loathing, delivered in a dark cloud of relentlessly bludgeoning riffs.
The Boston tradition includes seminal pioneers like Gang Green, SSD, and DYS. The back of Great American Ghost screamer Ethan Harrison's head is tattooed with the symbol for The Hope Conspiracy. But make no mistake, Power Through Terror is a devastating, mature metal-fueled odyssey. As Harrison says of guitarist Niko Gasparrini and bassist Joey Perron, "No matter how much my dudes listen to Meshuggah and Gojira, I'm always going to sound like I love American Nightmare because I do." And it's that potent concoction of the push and pulls between hardcore spite and metal ferocity that makes Great American Ghost's third LP so potent.
Which isn't to say the anger, malice, and corrosive pummelling of Hatred Stems from the Seed (2017) and Everyone Leaves (2015) is absent. Far from it. The Warped Tour, Metal Alliance, and Never Say Die! tour vets sound more visceral than ever. Power Through Terror is more ambitious and even more violent.

SVART CROWN To Release Wolves Among The Ashes Album In February; New Song "Thermageddon" Streaming
 French extreme metallers, Svart Crown, are back with a new single and video, a new album, and a tour. The album, Wolves Among The Ashes, will be released on February 7. Check out the first single, “Thermageddon”, below.
Band leader JB Le Bail comments: "We are again pretty excited to reveal the first track of our new album Wolves Among The Ashes, ‘Thermageddon’. It was the first track we wrote for this album, and it shows a certain desire to come back to the blackened death metal we loved in the late 90's: uncompromising, direct and with no superfluous element. But we cannot ignore that some doors were opened on our past releases and I am pretty sure that everyone is going to be surprised by what will happen next... This time, too, everything has been under the supervision of our Nganda "Francis Caste", who captured our best sound production to date. Last but not least, Dehn Sora gave us the perfect post apocalyptic vibe that this album needed.

NEW MESSIAH Release Music Video For Cover Of DEF LEPPARD's "Switch 625"
 New Messiah, featuring C. Will Harden on guitars and Craig Cefola (Dukes, Wheelhouse Junction) on drums, recently released their debut album, Voice Of Choice. A video for a cover of Def Leppard's "Switch 625" can be seen below:
Voice Of Choice includes 20 cover songs that showcase several singers including drummer Tom Hunting (Exodus). Tom hand picked the Stevie Wonder classic “You Haven’t Done Nothin’” as a song he always wanted to cover, along with three others including The Bus Boys’ “Boys Are Back In Town”, Jerry Reed’s “East Bound And Down” and The Time’s “Jungle Love” that also sparked the interest of Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels. Darryl wrote his part in that song and helped to open the album with this original take on Morris Day’s classic from the Prince film Purple Rain.
Rob Dukes (Exodus, Generation Kill, Fragile Mortals) also lends his vocals to tracks. Rob can be heard on the Judas Priest classic “Turbo Lover”, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and Tom Petty’s “Refugee”, all songs hand picked by Dukes who has worked with life long friend Craig Cefola for decades. Rob was instrumental in helping to get this project off the ground and brought in some of these amazing vocalists to help make this unique collection of covers a reality.
Jack Gibson (Exodus, Testament) and Craig Cefola share their respect for Jerry Reed on “East Bound And Down” from the film “Smokey And The Bandit”. Jack plays bass on the track and also performs the song with his side band (Coffin Hunter).
Venezuelan rocker Deibys Artigas is featured on “Hell Is For Children”, “Call Me”, “The Final Countdown”, the Spanish classic “Bailando” and the Billy Joel masterpiece “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant”, a song that took the band several months to create. Piano parts were turned into Acoustic Guitar, while Saxophone and Clarinet morphs into ripping lead guitar solos.
Tbilisi-based vocalist Esté is featured on “Hot Stuff”, “Our Lips Are Sealed”, “Reach Out” and The Cars classic “Moving In Stereo”. She was the first vocalist on the project and inspired the band to expand the collection to a full album release.
Mitch Saul (Kick Start Charlie) brings his unique vocal stylings to “Holiday Road” from the film “National Lampoon’s Vacation”. The band tried out several singers before finally finding the right voice for this rarely covered Lindsey Buckingham classic.

KREATOR Announces New Live Release 'London Apocalypticon - Live At The Roundhouse'
 German trash metal veterans KREATOR will release a new live set, "London Apocalypticon - Live At The Roundhouse", on February 14, 2020 via Nuclear Blast. The effort was professionally filmed and recorded on December 16, 2018 at the Roundhouse in London, England.
The London show closed out KREATOR's European co-headlining tour with DIMMU BORGIR. Also appearing on the bill were HATEBREED and BLOODBATH.
KREATOR frontman Mille Petrozza states: "Hordes! Welcome to 'London Apocalypticon'! This is the culmination of a long and epic touring cycle in support of 'Gods Of Violence' — over 150 shows, five continents and many amazing memories made! BLACK VEIL BRIDES Announce New Bassist, Release Two New Songs
 BLACK VEIL BRIDES have announced the addition of bassist Lonny Eagleton to the group's ranks. He joins the band as the replacement for Ashley Purdy, who exited the group earlier in the month.
Eagleton previously played with BLACK VEIL BRIDES singer Andy Biersack (a.k.a. Andy Black) on his recent solo tour.
In other news, BLACK VEIL BRIDES have released the first in a series of "duologies," essentially two-song singles that will be released with greater frequency. The first duology consists of the songs "The Vengeance" and "Saints Of The Blood".
Biersack told Alternative Press about the new music: "With the feeling of nostalgia on this one, going back into the time when we were doing the rerecord [of 'We Stitch These Wounds'], the idea was to add two songs that felt very much like the band that we were in the past and maybe strayed away from [and] return to that form.
"Quite honestly, when you've been a band as long as we have and put out five full-length records, EPs and everything else, you want to do new stuff. I think this is a model that we're really excited about, and moving forward, it's a sustainable model that we can do, something that allows us to write songs together and release music, do music videos and artwork, bring it to people and say, 'This is the new thing.' And then half a year later, there's another new thing."
Purdy joined BLACK VEIL BRIDES in 2009 and appeared on all five of the band's studio albums.
Earlier this month, BLACK VEIL BRIDES was announced as one of the support acts for IN THIS MOMENT on the spring 2020 "The In-Between Tour".
BLACK VEIL BRIDES' latest album, "Vale", came out in January 2018 via Lava/Universal Republic. The follow-up to BLACK VEIL BRIDES' 2014 self-titled effort was produced by John Feldmann at his Southern California studio.

PYRAMIDS ON MARS Share “Song Of Light” From Upcoming New Album
 Guitarist Kevin Estrella’s project Pyramids On Mars has a new album being released on December 21, 2019, entitled Edge Of The Black. The full-length offers up an aural palette of intense instrumental rock that's emotional, provocative and 4-dimensional.
Following Pyramids On Mars' two previous albums, Edge Of The Black was written, composed and performed solely by Kevin Estrella who cites influences from musical greats including J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi along with today’s guitar virtuosos Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani. Edge Of The Black pays homage to these artists while still maintaining Estrella’s own creative flair. Estrella shares his thoughts on the album:
“On Edge Of The Black, I wanted to put emphasis on songwriting and telling a story. The emphasis is not just on the lead guitar melody, but on the band as a whole. Harmonic variations on repeating themes are strongly utilized; like rhyming phrases in spoken language that allows easier accurate retelling of the original story. This idea of repeating music phrases/themes so the audience can easily recall it and hum it all the way home.”
Pyramids On Mars is premiering the J.S. Bach inspired track “Song Of Light”, which even kicks off with a harpsichord in the intro.

Former OBSCURA Guitarist CHRISTIAN MUENZER To Release New Solo Album Path Of The Hero
 Path Of The Hero is the third all instrumental solo album by guitarist Christian Muenzner (Eternity’s End, Alkaloid, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist), following the 2014 album Beyond The Wall Of Sleep. The album features Eternity’s End bandmates Jimmy Pitts (keyboards) and Hannes Grossmann (drums; Alkaloid, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist ), as well as bassists Jerry Twyford and Linus Klausenitzer (Alkaloid, Obscura). With nine tracks and a total playing time of only 35 minutes, this is the shortest of Muenzner’s three solo albums so far, purposely done to keep in the tradition of the late ‘80s Shrapnel Records albums. The album was co-produced and mixed and mastered by Hannes Grossmann.
Muenzner states: “This entire album happened very spontaneously. I had originally not intended to make another instrumental guitar album any time soon, but inspiration hit me and the ideas came to me very fast, and I wrote and recorded the album within a couple of months. I think among my three solo albums this is my most compact and focused work and definitely contains my best playing so far. I feel I have improved a lot with my technique, phrasing and melodic sensitivity since my last solo effort 5 years ago.”
The influences on the album range from neoclassical and heavy fusion to power and progressive metal. The song "Discovery" was co-written by Hannes Grossmann and contains a section that was originally intended for an Obscura song when Muenzner and Grossmann were still in the band. "Nocturne" is an arrangement based on Franz Liszt’s "Liebestraum No. 3".
The album will be released in Japan and South Korea through King Records on March 11 and the rest of the world on March 20 through Muenzner’s own label, Shredquarter Records.

CLUTCH Releases Music Video For Cover Version Of CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL's 'Fortunate Son'
 Maryland rockers CLUTCH have released a David Brodsky-directed video for their cover version of CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL's "Fortunate Son". The track, along with CLUTCH's previously issued rendition of the Willie Dixon 1950s classic "Evil" (later recorded by CACTUS) and ZZ TOP's "Precious And Grace", along with a reworked version of "Electric Worry", comprise a collection of newly recorded songs, "Weathermaker Vault Series".
Drummer Jean-Paul Gaster told Cory Blose of TotalRock Radio's "The Valley" about "Weathermaker Vault Series": "We got into the studio early this year. After we finished another U.S. tour, we jumped in the studio and we recorded a selection of songs. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a full album. But the idea is just to release a few things throughout the rest of the year. And these will be completely just digital releases as well. We're sort of experimenting with that format — just releasing stuff for streaming purposes. And we'll see how that goes."
He continued: "It was fun to get in the studio, and we picked some songs that sort of all meant something to us in different ways. We also re-recorded a few CLUTCH classic songs, so those will be coming out as well. I suppose maybe in some ways it's sort of just a way to tide us over until we really get the juices flowing to record another album."
Gaster said that CLUTCH's insistence on recording and releasing new music comes from a pure place.
"As we all know, there's not a tremendous amount of money to be made in releasing albums anymore, so you have to do it because you wanna do it," he said. "And also too, it just gives us an opportunity to play some new stuff when we get out there on the road and play shows. We do not wanna be a band that gets up there and just plays the hits and that would be the end of it. This is not a nostalgia thing for us. For us, this is still very much a live working rock band. We have the desire to be creative and to play music, so we try to foster that in whatever way we can."
He added: "I can say a scenario where we'll release this collection of singles and maybe a few more, and then eventually we might put these all on a vinyl record and put them out.
CLUTCH's latest album, "Book Of Bad Decisions", was released in September 2018. The record sold 26,000 copies in America during its first week of availability, giving the group its third consecutive Top 20 album on the Billboard 200.

KING DIAMOND Guitarist ANDY LA ROCQUE Celebrates 57th Birthday Onstage In San Francisco (Video)
 KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque celebrated his 57th birthday onstage with his bandmates Friday night (November 29) at The Warfield in San Francisco, California.
KING DIAMOND's namesake frontman led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" to the Swedish axeman, who is the only other member of the group to have remained a constant since its inception in 1985. Check out video footage below.
In addition to playing guitar for KING DIAMOND, La Rocque — whose real name is Anders Allhage — has made a long career in recording and producing other artists at his Sonic Train Studios in the city of Varberg, which is located 40 minutes south of Gothenburg, on the west coast of Sweden.
Earlier this month, KING DIAMOND released a new song called "Masquerade Of Madness". Mixed by La Rocque and King Diamond at Sonic Train Studios, the track will appear on KING DIAMOND's first studio album in 12 years, "The Institute", which will be released in 2020 via Metal Blade Records.
KING DIAMOND received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the band's last album, 2007's "Give Me Your Soul … Please".
"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.
KING DIAMOND released a DVD/Blu-ray, "Songs For The Dead Live", in January via Metal Blade Records. The set captures 1987's seminal "Abigail" album in its entirety, twice, and in very different locales: Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting in June 2016 and Philadelphia's Fillmore in November 2015. The performances feature KING DIAMOND's current band, comprising of guitarists La Rocque and Mike Wead, bassist Pontus Egberg and drummer Matt Thompson.

ANTHRAX's CHARLIE BENANTE Teams Up With PHILIP ANSELMO To Perform PANTERA Classics In Las Vegas (Video)
 ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante celebrated his 57th birthday by joining PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS on stage on November 27 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada to perform the PANTERA classic "Strength Beyond Strength" and part of "Goddamn Electric". Check out video footage below.
During a June 2018 appearance on Eddie Trunk's SiriusXM tribute show to Vinnie Paul Abbott, Benante said that he met the former PANTERA drummer for the first time when ANTHRAX made its Texas live debut more than 30 years ago. "And those guys [PANTERA] were there," he said. "We played at this club, and I believe PANTERA were the opening band. A mutual friend of ours, who everybody knows now — Rita [Haney, longtime girlfriend of PANTERA guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott] — she kind of was the conduit to grouping us together to become friendly. We've known those guys since 1985, and just the two of them, Darrell and Vinnie, after you met those two, it was like you had a friend in Texas, both of them, and they just made the experience so much better, and you immediately bonded. So throughout the years, we just remained friends."
Benante went on to draw a parallel between PANTERA and another legendary rock band which featured siblings who achieved notability together.
"I always equated Dime and Vinnie as, like, Alex and Eddie from VAN HALEN; I always thought PANTERA was like VAN HALEN reborn," he said. "They had a guitar player, who was a hero. The drummers were fucking awesome, but the thing about Vinnie that, I think, not a lot of people know — maybe they do — but from a technical side of things, Vinnie made those PANTERA records sound like that. He was the guy behind it all who was turning the knobs, EQing shit so that his kick drum wasn't fighting with Darrell's fucking chunky guitar. He was a lot of the brains and the glue that held that band together and, basically, pushed that band."
Prior to his untimely death 15 years ago, Dimebag made guest appearances on three ANTHRAX albums: 1995's "Stomp 442", 1993's "Volume 8: The Threat Is Real" and 2003's "We've Come For You All".

IRON MAIDEN And WEST HAM UNITED Unveil Football Kit Collaboration
 "Die With Your Boots On" is the name of a unique collaboration between IRON MAIDEN and the English professional football club West Ham United. Named after the 1983 song of the same name and driven by die-hard West Ham fan and founder member of the band Steve Harris, this partnership brings together two institutions with shared origins in London's East End.
Harris has been flying the flag for West Ham on stage for decades, with his bass guitar even featuring the club's iconic logo. His love for the Hammers goes back to 1965, as he recollects: "I went to see West Ham play against Newcastle when I was 9 and my mate was 10. We jumped on a bus and went to the game, and they won 4-3 and that was it. I was hooked!"
Many MAIDEN fans around the world have embraced Harris's passion for West Ham and taken up support for the club themselves, often appearing at concerts in Hammers apparel. Steve adds: "When I'm up there playing and I see fans in the audience wearing West Ham stuff, it gives me goosebumps."
Tracey Stratton, licensing manager at West Ham, was aware of the phenomenon. "One weekend last summer, our club shop was inundated with rock fans from all across the globe, and we realized that IRON MAIDEN were playing two sold-out shows at the O2," Tracey says. "It makes perfect sense to launch this collaboration, and with Steve's passion for it and attention to detail, it has been amazing."
Harris is very proud of the tie up with West Ham and was deeply involved in the design process, commenting: "I think it's brilliant. I really love that version and colour of the crest, and that old classic kind of kit. It's a modern shape but with a retro design, and I like that. Up the Irons!"
A full home kit will be available to fans around the world, who can now show their love for both institutions with one unique homage to the Irons. Steve launched the kit with West Ham and Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta, who added: "IRON MAIDEN are a huge icon back home in South America and it's great for fans of West Ham and the band to be able to show their support for both."

STEEL PANTHER Collaborates With Actor/Comedian ROB RIGGLE On Thanksgiving Song
 STEEL PANTHER has collaborated with Emmy Award-nominated actor/comedian Rob Riggle on a Thanksgiving song called "Thanks Again". STEEL PANTHER composed the music for the track while Riggle penned the lyrics.
STEEL PANTHER said in a Facebook post: "We collaborated with Rob Riggle to bring you the #Thanksgiving song you never knew you needed!! Shout out to Rob and NFL on FOX for having us!!"
STEEL PANTHER's fifth studio album, "Heavy Metal Rules", was released on September 27. The disc, which is described in a press release as a "heavy metal version of a self-help manual and ultimate party album combined," was once again produced by Jay Ruston, who collaborated with the band on all of its previous recordings, including 2017's "Lower The Bar".
STEEL PANTHER specializes in imitating and exaggerating the less flattering aspects of 1980s hair metal, with unrepentantly crude, non-PC sexual content as a favorite lyrical theme.
The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."
Eleven years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.

Watch Mashup Of JUDAS PRIEST's 'You've Got Another Thing Coming' And MICHAEL JACKSON's 'Billie Jean'
 Bill McClintock, the man behind several popular video mashups, has returned with his latest creation: a mashup of JUDAS PRIEST's classic "You've Got Another Thing Coming" and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". Check it out below.
In a 2018 interview with Forever State College, McClintock, who resides in the Pittsburgh area, said that he started doing mashups "as a hobby after I heard (and was blown away by) the 'Crazy Train'/'September' mashup by DJ Cummerbund. I was so intrigued by the way that two songs could be combined to create something that seemed entirely new," he said.
"Making music mashups came somewhat easily to me, as I have a background in music theory from majoring in music technology and music education at Duquesne University," he continued. "I was able to find songs that could work together based on key and tempo.
"For my day job, I teach elementary and middle school music. My middle school students have enjoyed watching some of my mashups."
When asked how long it takes on average to complete one mashup, Bill said: "Once I have an idea, mixing the audio probably takes on average about five to ten hours. The video part takes about two or three hours. The most time-consuming part is coming up with a really good match. That can take days, if not weeks."

Ex-SCORPIONS Drummer JAMES KOTTAK Says Black Americans Are Disproportionately Represented In Commercials
 Former SCORPIONS and current KINGDOM COME drummer James Kottak says that blacks in American ads and commercials are way overrepresented relative to their population share.
Late Tuesday night (November 26), Kottak took to his Twitter to write: "OK so the percentage of black Americans in the US is about 13% so why are they represented 50 to 60% on all commercials? Just saying call me out if you have a reasonable argument?"
A short time later, he added: "Maybe none of you have any balls to speak the truth?"
This is not the first time Kottak has called out what he sees as disproportionate representation of certain races in advertising. This past October, he tweeted that he was "sick" of seeing commercials featuring "interracial couples," insisting that "this is not reality. It is Hollywood shoving it down our throat," he added. "I don't have one friend or friends who live in this category...just saying"
According to The New York Times, a number of companies and brands like JPMorgan Chase, Humira, State Farm, Smile Direct Club, Coors Light, Macy's, Tide and Cadillac have recently featured multiracial couples or families in their advertising.
Sarah Block, the executive vice president and creative director of Leo Burnett USA, who has worked on several ads depicting multiracial families, including commercials for Kraft, told the paper that the prevalence of these commercials "is a reflection of modern society. It's portraying the situation that is out in the world," she said.
In recent months, Kottak has repeatedly used Twitter as a way to voice his controversial views. On November 3, he opined that "all law enforcement should be men." In September, he raised eyebrows when he questioned whether climate change is real, writing in a series of since-deleted tweets: "Tell me when one time you have seen 'killed from climate change' or 'death from second hand smoke' appeared on a gravestone....and I am a total anti smoker... it's all b s"
Back in July, he angered some people on the social media platform when he wrote that "anyone against America is a socialist communist asshole."
The unusual Independence Day greetings came after the musician wished his 18 thousand followers a happy holiday on Twitter.
"Happy Fourth.... Trump rules!" the 56-year-old musician wrote, adding in a separate tweet: "Any one against America is a socialist communist a hole . Happy fourth"
In June, Kottak, who calls himself a "news political junkie" on Twitter, made BLABBERMOUTH.NET headlines when he said that America should take care of its "homeless problem" before accepting any more "outsiders."
Kottak has spent much of the last year touring with the reunited KINGDOM COME, also featuring guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier, bassist Johnny B. Frank and singer Keith St. John (formerly of MONTROSE and LYNCH MOB).
In September 2016, Kottak was dismissed from SCORPIONS during his well-publicized battle with alcoholism and was replaced by former MOTÖRHEAD member Mikkey Dee.
SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs later said that he and his bandmates "had to make" the decision to fire Kottak, explaining that they gave the drummer "all the chances" to get better. "We reached the point — or he reached the point — where it was just not worth it," Jabs said.
Last fall, Kottak told Detroit's 101 WRIF radio station that his recovery was "a work in progress." He explained: "Over the last 10 years, I would say I was 90 percent sober, and then I'd have these struggles and I'd go through a bad two- or three-week period. So right now it's, like I said, to use a cliché, it's one day at a time and I work the program. I still go out, and if you wanna drink a bottle of Jack in front of me, go for it — [it's] no big deal — but it is, like I said, a work in progress."

OPETH's FREDRIK ÅKESSON: People On BLABBERMOUTH.NET 'Complain About Everything'
 In a recent interview with Davide Sciaky of TrueMetal.it, OPETH guitarist Fredrik Åkesson was asked if he thinks the band's fans are over the fact that OPETH no longer incorporates growling vocals into its music. "I don't read everything on the Internet," he responded. "On certain forums, you will always have that complaint — especially on Blabbermouth. [Chuckles] But they complain about everything. It's kind of fun, actually. But we still play that era of OPETH live, and we still enjoy playing it. And I think Mikael's [Åkerfeldt, OPETH guitarist/vocalist] growls are even more guttural than ever, really. We love it, but Mikael is the main songwriter and he is very artistic, and he doesn't like to repeat his sound, and neither do we. So we've kind of stayed on this path. But I'm not sure it's ruled out forever — it might come back, in a different way.
"I can understand some fans [being disappointed by the lack of growling vocals in the new music], but it seems like there's still a lot of old-school fans that appreciate both types of sounds," he continued. "And when it comes to the live gigs, I think it's quite interesting to have the blend between these two. It creates a good dynamic in a live setting… But then again, the older OPETH stuff with the growl always had some more calm stuff in those songs. It's always been a bit like yin-and-yang kind of thing, and in a way, I still think that [we've kept] that, but in a different way."
Asked if he thinks it's possible that growling vocals will ever come back to OPETH's music, Fredrik said: "If it would come back, I think it has to be… I know Mikael well, and if I was starting to question about it, it's probably less chance that it will happen. He likes to do the opposite, So, if it happens, it has to be him that comes up with it naturally, and feels like he wants to do it. There's been a little bit of talk about bringing it back on some… On the 'Pale Communion' album, he had an idea to bring back [the growls] for one song, without us asking about it. So it's been almost happening."
OPETH's latest album, "In Cauda Venenum", landed at No. 13 on the U.K. chart and No. 5 on the German chart. The band's previous LP, 2016's "Sorceress", peaked at No. 11 on the U.K. chart, while 2014's "Pale Communion" entered the list at No. 14 and 2011's "Heritage" landed at No. 22.
"In Cauda Venenum" was released on September 27 via Moderbolaget / Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Recorded last year at Stockholm's Park Studios, the effort was made available in two versions, in both Swedish and English languages.

HOLYCIDE Reveal Cover Art, Tracklisting For New Album, Fist To Face
 Spanish thrash metal band Holycide, led by Dave Rotten of Avulsed, has revealed details of their second album, titled Fist To Face, whose cover art has been created by Akirant Illustration (Iron Maiden).
This new album will be released on February 14th, 2020 through Xtreem Music on CD, 12" LP and cassette formats; and also through MDD for the German territory (G/A/S) and Spitirual Beast in Japan (February 12th).
After the success of their 2017 debut, Annihilate... Then Ask!, Holycide returns with an intense and aggressive album. Recorded again at Cadillac Blood Studios with Andy C. at the controls, the production is impeccable, combining the rawness of the sound of the '80s with the force of sound prevailing today.
