SEPULTURA will release its new album, "Quadra", in early 2020 via Nuclear Blast Records.
After relentless touring for its previous opus, 2017's "Machine Messiah", SEPULTURA returned to Sweden's Fascination Street Studios to once again work with producer Jens Bogren. "Quadra" saw the bandmembers pushing their own mental and physical boundaries and has been one of the group's hardest albums to complete.
Singer Derrick Green explained: "The experience was like no other time in the studio. I felt the preparation was key in making the recording process go as smooth as possible. We were relentless each day giving everything that we had until complete exhaustion of the mind, body, and soul. This album is a direct result of the sign of times. The music is an evolution needed to push ourselves to go further than we ever have."
The cover for "Quadra" was created by Christiano Menezes for Darkside Books. Revolving around the meaning of the number 4, the concept goes much deeper, as guitarist Andreas Kisser explained. "Quadra, among other meanings, is the Portuguese word for 'sport court' that by definition is a limited area of land, with regulatory demarcations, where according to a set of rules the game takes place," he said.
"We all come from different Quadras. The countries, all nations with their borders and traditions; culture, religions, laws, education and a set of rules where life takes place. Our personalities, what we believe, how we live, how we build societies and relationships, all depends on these set of rules that we grew up with. Concepts of creation, gods, death and ethics.
"Money, we are enslaved by this concept," he continued. "Who's poor and who's rich, that's how we measure people and material goods. Regardless of your Quadra, you need money to survive, the prime rule to play this game called life. Hence the coin.
"The coin is forged with the senator skull, who represents the set of rules and laws we live by; the world map on his head delimiting the borders of all nations, imaginary lines separating people by concepts of race and the sacred."
SEPULTURA revealed the name and cover artwork of the record during its appearance in October at the Rock In Rio festival. SEPULTURA also performed the album's opening track, "Isolation", for the first time.
"Machine Messiah" was SEPULTURA's fourteenth studio album and the eighth since Green joined the ranks. Lyrically, the disc tackled the metaphorical robotization of society and the need to follow and worship someone.
SEPULTURA was formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, who are no longer with the band. | +8

DAVE MUSTAINE Says JAMES HETFIELD, OZZY OSBOURNE And PAUL STANLEY Sent Messages Of Support After His Cancer Diagnosis
Dave Mustaine spoke to Rolling Stone about his battle with throat cancer with which he was diagnosed back in May.
The 58-year-old MEGADETH guitarist/vocalist revealed his cancer diagnosis on June 17 on social media.
Last month, MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson said that Dave had completed his cancer treatments and was looking forward to hitting the road with his bandmates in January as the support act for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in Europe.
Although most of MEGADETH's previously announced 2019 tour dates were canceled as Mustaine battled the disease, the MEGADETH-curated Megacruise — which took place October 13-19 — still departed as scheduled, with Dave absent from the ship.
"I'm on the other side of the majority of the treatment, and I feel really strong," Mustaine told Rolling Stone in his first interview since the cancer diagnosis. "After the radiation, the guy said all of my test results looked amazing. 'You look like you're in a stage 1 and you're supposed to be in stage 3 right now.' And then the oncologist said the same thing: 'You look really strong.' So we kept moving through the process."
Although Mustaine is not officially in remission, he recently finished the necessary treatment and has started rehabilitation. He went on to say that the incredible outpouring from his fans and peers "came as quite a surprise." He explained "A lot came from people that I knew but I didn't know cared. Most notably, I got a text message back from my old brother, James Hetfield, and I was so, so happy to hear from him. Contrary to what anybody says and contrary to any of the act that we put on, I love James and I know that James loves me and cares about me. You can see that when the moment of truth is here and I'm telling the world that I've got a life-threatening disease. Who comes to stand next to me? James.
"And I got a text message from Ozzy, and one from Paul Stanley. It was great to get one from Ozzy; I didn't expect it from Paul Stanley. That was super bitchin' because in the beginning, when KISS first came out, I was just a kid and I loved them.
"I'm really grateful for everybody. Even the people who have a hard time with my behavior and my big mouth, I'm just so grateful for them showing care for me. Like they say, at the end of the day, all we've got is each other here in this crazy metal community."
According to Mustaine, he also spoke with IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson, who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on the back of his tongue five years ago. "[Bruce] said when he had his disease, after his treatment was done, he was told that he needed between three to six months of rest," Dave said. "He said to me that he didn't listen and had a little bit of trouble, so then he realized he needed to listen. So he did and his voice came back stronger than ever. I care so much about Bruce; he was another really supportive brother to me during this whole thing. He explained to me how he did it, and it really helped. I'm just looking forward to if there's ever a circumstance where this happens to another one of my peers, I can return the favor and help them. It's a tricky disease, but they've got doctors all over the place that are figuring this shit out."
Mustaine added that sounds his head is in a really good space right now. "I'm not letting the cancer get me down," he said. "I have to thank the fans and obviously my family and God but there was no way I was going to let this take me down. When [BLACK SABBATH guitarist] Tony Iommi got cancer, I thought, 'Oh, my God, he's gonna die.' And I actually cried. I wept, because they had said it was stage 4 cancer. And then, when I got it, I thought, 'Oh, my God. I'm gonna die.' Because I didn't know how bad it was. I thought of the fans and how sad everybody was gonna be. And I thought, 'I have to beat this.' No matter what, there's no way I'm gonna act like I can't do this. I can do anything if I set my mind to it."
MEGADETH's tour with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and BAD WOLVES will visit 14 European countries starting on January 20 at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland and ending on February 20 at the Budapest Sportarena in Budapest, Hungary.

Ex-WHITE LION Singer MIKE TRAMP Says 1980s Glam Metal Bands Found Out They Were All 'Replaceable And Disposable' When Grunge Hit
In a brand new interview with The Cosmick View, former WHITE LION singer Mike Tramp was asked if he thinks MTV played an instrumental role in the overall success of the band's 1987 album, "Pride", which went double platinum and scored several hit songs. He responded: "Of course MTV played a major role, and it did that for every single artist, including Michael Jackson. Suddenly the music was visual, and people coast to coast and around the world could watch their favorite artist pose and pout. But looking back now, it also had a dark side — we just didn't know that we were being branded for life with those videos."
He continued: "Like I just said, MTV was king and God, but when they turned their back on all the '80s bands that had built MTV and done videos per three requests, MTV now became the executioner, and it was a big stab in the back. There we learned that we were all replaceable and disposable."
Asked if he thinks music videos are relevant today, Tramp said: “No, they are not relevant. It's great if you can do one and can afford one. But they are an exclusive YouTube thing, and talk about competition. Now your video has to compete with stupidity."
A few years ago, Tramp admitted to Classic Rock that bands like WHITE LION had lost their appeal by the time 1991's "Mane Attraction" was released and alternative rock was in the ascendancy.
"The major impact came when MTV changed its concept," Tramp said. "In the '80s, MTV buttered our bread, but after Kurt Cobain wore his grandfather's sweater in the video for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', there was no place on MTV for bands like WHITE LION and MÖTLEY CRÜE."
In the 28 years since WHITE LION broke up, guitarist Vito Bratta's public profile has been virtually nonexistent, while Tramp has remained active, recording and touring as a solo artist and with the bands FREAK OF NATURE, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL CIRCUZ and, more recently, BAND OF BROTHERS. Tramp also attempted to revive WHITE LION with the 2008 album "Return Of The Pride", featuring new members. Two years later, Tramp ceded ownership of the name WHITE LION to Bratta in an out-of-court settlement.
Tramp's latest solo album, "Stray From The Flock", was released in March via Target Records.

MICHAEL MONROE: A Lot Of '80s Glam Metal Bands 'Acted Like Morons And Gave Real Rockers A Bad Name'
In a brand new interview with 2Fast2Die.com, Michael Monroe of Finnish rockers HANOI ROCKS, who are often cited as a major influence on the hair metal scene of the 1980s, was asked if he welcomes the recognition or if he is bothered by the connection. He responded: "Well, it's always nice to be recognized. [Laughs] I guess it bothers me that most of those bands missed the point. They were more into their hair and partying than they were the music. The music and the attitude were always more important to me. Anybody can party and pose and act like an idiot. A lot of those bands sold millions of records, but they acted like morons and gave real rockers a bad name. It's almost embarrassing that people might think I would be like that."
He continued: "I've never been with a groupie my whole life. I've just never been into that whole scene. I guess growing up in Finland gave me a different mentality. I've just never been into that pretentious, phony rock and roll. I think it's a crime that phony rock and roll sells millions of records and people think it's real rock and roll."
Monroe's latest comments echo those he made in a 2015 interview with Sleaze Roxx. He stated at the time: "The MÖTLEY CRÜE guys are all, 'Oh, it's cool to be sleazy with the chicks and drugs' and party hardy and all that stuff, but to me, it was all about the music and the attitude and songs. I've never been into that other stuff. I've never been with a groupie in my life. Not once. I could not imagine spending an intimate night with a complete stranger and never seeing them again, even before the whole AIDS thing. It just doesn't agree with my way of thinking. But that's the difference between me and the MÖTLEY CRÜEs and the POISONs and the hairdo bands."
Monroe's latest solo album, "One Man Gang", was released on October 18 via Silver Lining Music. Recorded and mixed by Petri Majuri at E-Studio in Sipoo, Finland over three weeks in March 2018, the 12-song record was mixed that following autumn with Monroe and bandmates Rich Jones and Steve Conte on production duties.

MICK MARS Says He Was 'Joking' About Free Tickets To MÖTLEY CRÜE's Reunion Tour
Mick Mars says that he "was wrong" when he insisted that MÖTLEY CRÜE would never reunite again for more tours after the completion of the band's 2015 "final" trek.
The guitarist offered his first public comments after a viral video from a 2014 episode of the now-defunct "That Metal Show" saw him being asked about the possibility of the CRÜE coming back for more tours after promising that its 2014/2015 farewell run is really its last. In the clip, which can be seen below, Mars replied: "Let me put it this way: If that happens, I will invite the world to come for free."
Earlier today, Mars took to his Instagram to write: "While I was clearly joking about the free tickets that night on TMS, I was also deeply convinced that we would never ever be touring again. I would never have expected to be facing a whole new generation of fans demanding to see us play. In fact, touring with MÖTLEY CRÜE comes at a weird place in time, since my solo record is almost complete after such a long time of writing and recording. But, I put our fans first. Anyways, I am eating a lot of crow and humble pie this Thanksgiving for those remarks and accept that some of you see this as me being dishonest. I said what I said and I was wrong. Peace."
CRÜE fans who shelled out for the band's 2014/2015 "farewell" tour were led to believe that the group would never return after playing its final show on December 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The band touted the signing of a pre-tour "cessation of touring" agreement as cementing the fact it truly was the end of CRÜE's life on the road.
On November 18 — three years and 11 months after the band played its last show — CRÜE posted a video with Machine Gun Kelly, who portrayed Tommy Lee in the band's biopic "The Dirt", explaining that due to the band "becoming more popular than ever" and "gaining an entirely new legion of fans" in the four years they've been off the road, the band felt the need to blow up their previous contract in order to come out of retirement. That same day, Rolling Stone reported that MÖTLEY CRÜE will embark on a stadium tour with DEF LEPPARD and POISON in 2020. However, as of right now, no official announcement regarding the trek has been made.
Back in 2014, bassist Nikki Sixx told Rolling Stone that MÖTLEY CRÜE couldn't legally play again after the completion of the farewell tour. "The only loophole is if all four band members agreed to do it, we could override our own contract," he said. "But we know that will never happen. There are people in this band who will refuse to ever do it again, and you're talking to one of them. There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we’re ending it.
"If anybody ever — and I don't believe anybody ever would — would call any other bandmembers and say, 'Hey, it's been 10 years, let's just do 10 shows. A million a pop,' it could never happen unless all four bandmembers agreed," Sixx added. "And if we did agree, the way we've set it up — including this conversation right now — we'd have so much egg on our face. We have so much pride that that alone would stop it."
After the members of MÖTLEY CRÜE reunited last year to record four new songs for "The Dirt" film, some fans assumed that the group would be open to the idea of playing together again at a special event to promote the movie. But Sixx shot down the idea earlier this year, telling Rolling Stone: "Sometimes I look out at my friends, like the guys in AEROSMITH and METALLICA, and I'm, like, 'God damn it, did we retire too soon?' But there will be no one-offs in our future. Maybe we'll just get together and jam in [guitarist] Mick Mars's front room."

Live GARY MOORE Album From 2009 Show To Be Released In January
The career of Gary Moore was a jagged timeline, full of twists, turns and wild tangents. And yet, through it all, the Irishman never lost faith in the power of live music. On December 2, 2009 — just fourteen months before his tragic death aged 58 — the fabled guitarist played a special one-off club show at London's Islington Academy. Now, 10 years later, Provogue, a division of the Mascot Label Group, will be releasing this never before released recording, "Live From London", on January 31, 2020.
As adolescence hit, Moore fell headlong into the blues flavors that dominate "Live From London"'s track listing, mostly drawing on U.S. giants like Paul Butterfield and Brit blues godfather John Mayall's seminal 1966 "Beano" album with Eric Clapton and during that same formative period, at Belfast's tough Club Rado, an early lesson in the emotional impact of live blues came from Peter Green.
Moore's own first semi-professional steps had been with the BEAT BOYS and Dublin's SKID ROW, who offered an escape-route from Belfast, plus the camaraderie of the band's chaotic frontman, Phil Lynott. Lynott was soon fired, but he remembered his old wingman when his new band, THIN LIZZY, needed a stand-in. It was a gig in which Moore played the guitar hero role to the hilt. But despite the adulation, Moore feared LIZZY was nurturing his self-destructive streak, and left to explore the outer reaches in Jon Hiseman's virtuoso jazz-fusion outfit, COLOSSEUM II.
However, every time he picked up a guitar in the dressing room, he immediately went to the timeless licks of the Mississippi Delta, Moore suddenly saw the path. So began 1990's "Still Got The Blues", the multi-million-selling comeback album on which the Irishman's rebirth as an authentic bluesman was given added credibility by collaborations with A-listers like Albert King, Albert Collins and Harrison himself.
The material from "Still Got The Blues" became the cornerstone of Moore's shows — and it never left the set list. Fast-forward to December 2009, and as a sea of punters streamed into the Islington Academy for the show that would become "Live From London". The pace was set by Albert King's "Oh Pretty Woman", through the raucous "Walking By Myself" and the weeping melody of the title track. And, of course, there was room for "Parisienne Walkways", the guitarist's U.K. No. 8 hit sounding younger than yesterday on this new release. "I can hardly get away without doing it," noted the guitarist of that fan-favorite encore. "It's quite a long version, because I like to draw things out. Us guitar players, if we can squeeze a bit more out of it, we're gonna do it, aren't we?"
Between the opener and encore, Moore gave us everything he had in Islington, revisiting some of the key crossroads of his career. From his 2008 swansong album, "Bad For You Baby", there's the energetic title track, plus "Down The Line"'s high-velocity country-blues and the emotive leads of Donny Hathaway's "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know". Reaching further back, there's the heartfelt guitar hook of Otis Rush's "All Your Love" and an emotive reading of John Mayall's "Have You Heard", both songs that Moore would have first heard on "Beano" as a teenage guitarist.
All the more poignant, then, that just over a year later, Moore would be gone, his screaming-hot Les Paul falling forever silent. In the blues community, it left a chasm, and while the scene has welcomed a roll call of master guitar players since, the Irishman's absence still stings. "Live From London" is one last shard of genius, catching a generation-best performer firing on all cylinders, and reminding us one last time why he was put on this planet.
Track listing:
01. Oh, Pretty Woman
02. Bad For You Baby
03. Down The Line

PHILIP ANSELMO: 'It Would Be A Great Honor' If PANTERA Was Inducted Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME
Philip Anselmo says that it "would be a great honor" if PANTERA was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Despite the fact that artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single, iconic hard rock and metal bands like IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST have yet to be recognized by the institution, which inducted GUNS N' ROSES in that group's first year of eligibility.
In a brand new interview with the 95.9 KRFF radio station, Anselmo was asked if he can foresee PANTERA — which has been eligible for induction since 2008 — one day getting the Rock Hall nod. He responded (hear audio below): "Man, I've had people ask me this very question, and I just… I don't even think about stuff like that, man; I really don't. I guess I know that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is kind of a difficult thing [and] they have their own rules and they have their own little… I mean, I don't know — I don't really know too much about it. But I would not be surprised. And if we made it, I don't know how I'd feel, man. I mean, it's a great honor — it would be a great honor."
Anselmo was also asked if he had any idea, when he first joined PANTERA, that the band would develop into such an influential and ground-breaking metal outfit. He said: "Man, I was so blinded by just getting up on a stage and doing what we had to do, and then, of course, running into a recording session and just doing all the records and doing all the hands-on stuff. I never even halfway imagined all those things that you brought up, man. I still consider myself the dude who's out in the audience as well and watching bands play, collecting bands, listening to music. I still feel like the fan. And I am — don't get me wrong. But so many different people come up to me with their own individual stories about what PANTERA has meant to their life and what it's done for their lives. And it's overwhelming, man. And I'm stunned, amazed and gasping for air every single time."
Back in 2014, PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott said that he didn't think his band would ever get inducted into the Rock Hall. "It's already been proven there are tons of travesties that have gone on with that place," he explained to AL.com. "How in the world did it take forever to get BLACK SABBATH in there? Honestly, I don't think PANTERA will ever get in there. But if we do, I'm going to embrace it just like anything else. I've actually been there and heavy metal is barely even represented in the place, so I wouldn't expect that to happen."
Vinnie Paul and his brother "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.
Vinnie Paul passed died in June 2018 at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 54. | +3

Watch GUNS N' ROSES Bassist DUFF MCKAGAN Unbox 'Super Deluxe' Reissue Of PRINCE's '1999'
GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan has written liner notes for a reissue of Prince's 1982 album "1999", due on November 29 via Warner. The reissued "1999" will be available in three versions: super deluxe (5 CDs or 10 LPs and DVD); deluxe (2 CDs or 4 LPs) and remastered album (1 CD or 2 LPs).
The 5xCD/10xLP "super deluxe edition" will feature 35 previously unreleased tracks from Prince's vault, as well as a DVD containing footage from his 1999 tour stop at the Houston Summit on December 29, 1982. Also included will be photos by Allen Beaulieu, who worked with Prince in the early '80s, and additional liner notes by longtime Rolling Stone critic David Fricke, the Current radio host Andrea Swensson and Prince scholar Duane Tudahl.
A four-minute video of McKagan unboxing the "super deluxe edition" of "1999" can be seen below.
Duff said: "This record taught me so much about music in the early years of forming my style. Truly honored to be a small part of this amazing release."
The GUNS N' ROSES bassist previously told Classic Rock magazine that he was "turned on to Prince" sometime around 1980. "I really love 'For You' and 'Prince' and 'Controversy' and 'Dirty Mind', but there was something about '1999'," he said.
"A lot of heroin was going through Seattle, and while I wasn't using, a lot of people were getting strung out: my friends, my roommate, my girlfriend, my band. We had just signed to Jello Biafra's record label and were going to be the next big thing, but a couple of the guys got strung out and it was the end of the band.
"It was 10 MINUTE WARNING, who were a precursor to SOUNDGARDEN and GREEN RIVER and all of that. I was heartbroken, man, seeing all this stuff going on around me, and I knew I had to make a decision. Then 1999 came out in 1982, and I just dove into the record.
"I loved 'Little Red Corvette'. It may be the most perfect three-chord song ever written. But it was the deeper tracks that I loved most. I would get off work and come home and just play the record and it was my escape.
"Everybody has that record that 'saved their life,' and '1999' gave me the courage to stand on my own two feet. It gave me the courage to leave. I knew my car wouldn't make it to New York, but I knew it could get me to L.A. Somehow it encouraged me to do that on my own, and it was scary, but I knew music was going to be my thing."

PINK FLOYD - "Comfortably Numb" From Delicate Sound Of Thunder (Original Vs Restored); Video
Pink Floyd - The Later Years, a 16-disc set (5xCDs, 6xBlu-Rays, 5xDVDs) covering the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards, will be released on December 13, with a 12-track Highlights package (2LP or 1CD) available on November 29.
In support of the upcoming release, Pink Floyd have released the video below, featuring a comparison of the original and restored versions of "Comfortably Numb", from Delicate Sound Of Thunder.
The period covered on The Later Years generated record sales of over 40 million worldwide and included three studio albums: A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, The Division Bell and The Endless River as well as two live albums: Delicate Sound Of Thunder and Pulse. With additional production from David Gilmour and Andy Jackson, over 13 hours of unreleased audio and audiovisual material, including the sought-after 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts, Pink Floyd The Later Years is a must for all fans.
A multi-media, deluxe box set, Pink Floyd The Later Years presents an expanded view of the Pink Floyd story from 1987 to the present and kicks off with A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, the album that confirmed Pink Floyd as one of the world’s biggest artists.
The album, presented for the first time in 5.1, has been remixed and updated by David Gilmour and Andy Jackson. The release of The Later Years project gives an opportunity for a fresh overview of the A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album. By returning to some of Richard Wright’s keyboard parts and recording new drum tracks with Nick Mason, producers David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin have restored the creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members.
Throughout 1987 and 1988 the band’s live shows became the largest-grossing concert tour ever to that date and produced the critically acclaimed, Grammy Award nominated, Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Filmed at the Nassau Coliseum in New York State, the concert shows the band on the top of their form. The concert has been fully re-edited and upgraded from the original 35mm film negatives by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and Benny Trickett and the sound remixed to 5.1. It also includes "Terminal Frost" and "Welcome To The Machine", two tracks that were not included on the original concert film release. For the first time the concert is available in 5.1 on Blu-ray and DVD.
Two of the most sought-after additions to Pink Floyd The Later Years are the 1989 Venice Concert, performed on a floating stage in front of St Mark’s Square, and the 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth. Both concerts, previously unreleased, are now available on both DVD and Blu-ray (145mins). The momentous Knebworth concert saw Pink Floyd topping the all-star bill (that included Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Tears For Fears), in aid of the Nordoff Robbins charity, profits from which went towards setting up the BRIT School. David Gilmour and Andy Jackson have remixed the audio from this iconic concert and all seven tracks performed on the day (with guest musicians including sax player Candy Dulfer, the original The Great Gig In The Sky vocalist Clare Torry, keyboard player Michael Kamen and Sam Brown with her mother, Vicki, on vocals), are released here as well as for the first time ever on CD.
1994’s album The Division Bell sold over 12 million copies, having debuted at No 1 in the UK, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. It stayed at the top of the US charts for 4 weeks, and also went to No 1 in six other countries. The resulting tour was captured and recorded for the concert release Pulse. This release contains the entire Pulse live concert film, re-edited and upgraded from the original masters, from the groundbreaking Earl’s Court gigs, and available for the first time on Blu-ray. Also uncovered for the first time is footage of the band in rehearsals on October 20, 1994 performing "A Great Day For Freedom" and "Lost For Words".
In 2014, Pink Floyd released The Endless River, comprising mostly instrumental and ambient music based on material recorded during The Division Bell sessions. Featuring David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright, additional material was recorded in 2013 and 2014, with one song, "Louder Than Words", with lyrics by author & novelist Polly Samson (the primary lyricist for The Division Bell album). The Endless River became the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon UK and debuted at number one in several countries. The vinyl edition was the fastest-selling UK vinyl release since 1997. This special performance of Arnold Layne took place at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert at The Barbican on 10 May 2007. Documentary About Late BLIND MELON Singer SHANNON HOON To Receive 2020 Release
A documentary about the final years of BLIND MELON frontman Shannon Hoon will be released in 2020. According to Variety, Double E Pictures and Live Nation Productions were recently added as executive producers for the film, which was created using over 200 hours of the late singer-songwriter's home videos by photographer Danny Clinch, Hoon's close friend who co-directed the documentary alongside Taryn Gould and Colleen Hennessy.
"We realized that we basically had all these videos of a guy who was videotaping himself obsessively for five years from before he was famous up until really the day of his death," Clinch told Variety. "It was the dawn of technology where people started to film each other, and he was way ahead of the curve in a way. It's kind of one of the earliest moments of someone who was self-archiving his own life."
Despite scoring one of the decade's most enduring singles and videos, "No Rain", and a quadruple-platinum hit with BLIND MELON's 1992 self-titled debut album (in addition to touring alongside rock's biggest names), Hoon could not overcome a dangerous drug addiction. Only two records into a promising career, Hoon was dead from an overdose at the age of 28.
"He was really an endearing character," Clinch told Rolling Stone in 2015. "He could just become your best friend right away. His energy was great. He was really creative and super friendly. He definitely liked to have a good time and he enjoyed the rock and roll lifestyle for sure."
In the works for four years, "All I Can Say" has played on the festival circuit, including at Tribeca and the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.
BLIND MELON was inactive for more than a decade following Hoon's death before reforming in 2006 with new vocalist Travis Warren, from the band RAIN FUR RENT.

BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, THE WHO, PINK FLOYD Members Among Stars Raising Money For Guitarist JERRY DONAHUE
British "rock royalty" have rallied to help a highly respected American guitarist who is struggling financially after suffering a stroke, reports BBC.com.
Sir Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne and members of Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd are among 23 stars to sign a guitar to be sold at auction. Money raised will help Jerry Donahue, who played with the folk-rock bands Fairport Convention and Fotheringay.
The guitar - a signature Jerry Donahue Telecaster - is due to go under the hammer on December 11 in Wiltshire, UK, and is expected to sell for in the region of between £10,000 and £20,000.
Donahue suffered a severe stroke in 2016 and has not been able to play guitar since. Dave Pegg, bass player with Fairport Convention and one of the leaders of the fundraising drive, said the stars had come together out of "respect for Jerry".
"They recognize he's one of the greatest guitarists in the world with a unique style," he said.

EYEHATEGOD - Music For New Album Is Done
Eyehategod vocalist Mike IX Williams was recently interviewed on The Void With Christina. During their chat, which can be seen below, Mike talks about EHG's long-awaited next album, their new drummer, why Hurricane Katrina changed everything, his gratitude for the fans that saved his life, his favourite memories of late drummer Joey LaCaze, the band's notorious reputation and lots more.
When asked about the follow-up to 2014's self-titled Eyehategod album, Mike revealed that the music "is recorded. I just have to do vocals on it. We've been on tour so much. I was supposed to do it a few months ago, but something happened and things fell apart with that... So, I'm going to try and get it done. We're taking a few months off after this thing; after Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea. But yeah, as soon as all that's done, I'm going to take some time off, and there's a studio... I know where I'm going to go."
Williams elaborated further, "I've got so many words... I write all the time. They're either on my phone, or pieces of paper, or napkins. You just throw it together... it comes to you. I don't write lyrics for a certain song; there's no narrative. It's not like I'm telling a story. It's just words that sound good to me."
Eyehategod's remaining 2019 tour dates are as listed:
November
27 - Revolver - Taipei, Taiwan
28 - We Are Louder Fest at Hanoi Rock City - Tay Ho, Vietnam

France's RISING STEEL Sign To Frontiers Music Srl; Label Debut Due In Spring 2020
Frontiers Music Srl continues to expand their metal roster with the announcement of the signing of Rising Steel, a new heavy metal band from Grenoble, France. The quintet delivers a “not so” classical heavy metal sound with their influences coming mainly from the 80’s NWOBHM, hard rock, and thrash metal scenes. Solid and powerful metal music, the band is inspired by the legacies of legends like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and is recommended for fans with diverse metal palates who like bands ranging from early Metallica, Accept, Saxon, Grand Magus, Nevermore, Slayer and beyond.
After their Warlord EP (2014) and full-length Return Of The Warlord (2016), the band shared stages with acts like Jaded Heart, Sister Sin, Nightmare, ADX, Nashville Pussy, Annihilator, and more, which garnered them more exposure to a larger international audience. After three years of gigging and writing new material, the band is now ready to kick ass with their next album, Fight Them All, which is due for release on Frontiers Records in spring 2020.
"We gave our best to keep our influences in this recording, keeping the true heavy metal spirit, but this time we tried our best to strengthen our metal sound with darker influences and go a bit beyond the classic boundaries of this style. This new album is a big step forward for the band, and signing with the Frontiers label is, for us, a true recognition. A dream-come-true story to be continued soon!"
With the new album, the Steels headed to Sweden under the direction of Rickard Bengsston and his associate Staffan Karlsson to give the music an approach closer to the unique and varied Swedish metal sounds (ie., Arch Enemy, Shining, Spiritual Beggars, Grand Magus). For mastering, the band chose to work with Mika Jussila at Finnvox studios in Finland.
If you are looking for an explosive riffing, crushing Swedish sound, then just take a listen to Rising Steel's upcoming record. Lookout for more news soon! In the meantime, if you'd like to familiarize yourself with the band, check out the official videos for "Warlord" and "Dead Or Alive", below.

BEHEMOTH's NERGAL: How I Ended Up Singing 'Evil Has No Boundaries' With SLAYER
BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski has revealed how he ended up joining SLAYER on stage during the latter band's concert this past June at Arena Gliwice in Gliwice, Poland to sing the SLAYER classic "Evil Has No Boundaries". Speaking during Zippo Encore's "Dudes Talking S#*t In A Truck" segment that was filmed several days later at the U.K.'s Download festival, Nergal recalled (see video below): "It really started with Baby Nergal back in — I don't know — 30 years ago or something, when I was listening to that song. Basically, my whole [love for] SLAYER started with that song, and I loved it from the very start. As everyone, maybe you get the same — [people] ask you, 'What's your favorite SLAYER moment?' The first is your sentimental trip. It's not, like, automatically you say 'Reign In Blood'. Is it? So it started with 'Evil Has No Boundaries' with me, when I was this little kid just rocking to that song in front of the mirror. And then I brought it up when we were touring in the U.S. [with SLAYER]. We were just having our Jäger meeting after the show with Kerry [King, SLAYER guitarist] and Gary [Holt, SLAYER guitarist]. I was, like, 'Yeah, I love that song.' I love most of their catalog, but this one just does the trick to me. And every day, they would do this official soundcheck for, like, 20-30 people, VIPs. And I think I just gave them the idea that maybe they should do it. And Kerry was, like, 'Yeah. Let's do it.' He's a very straight-up guy. He said, 'Yeah, we're gonna do it.' Which I took as just courtesy [response]. So, [I didn't think it was] happening. But at least my heart was, like, 'Oh, cool.' And then, two weeks later, they were, like, 'So, when are we doing it?' And I was, like, 'Oh, shit. They were real about it.' And Gary said, 'I know the song.' And Kerry was, like, far away, 'I know it too.' And I'm, like, 'Tomorrow?' 'Tomorrow it shall be.'"
He continued: "So, I went out. It was just a soundcheck — official soundcheck — with the band jamming and 20 people in the crowd. I [had] more stage fright and [was more] paralyzed and just so excited than for the whole tour, with all our shows together — if you just sum it up together. It was, like, 'Wow!' Then we repeated it again during some other soundcheck later, so we did it twice. Nd then I remember, when we got that Polish show [with SLAYER], I approached Kerry in Australia. I was, like, 'Why don't we do it within a SLAYER set?' And he goes, like, 'Oh, shit. I have to learn it again.' But then he goes… Because he really loved my anti-Pope hate, he goes, like, 'We'll do it if you'll be wearing that.' And then I immediately answered, 'Of course.' But, of course, I wouldn't, because it wouldn't work for SLAYER. But I really wanted to do it, so I just promised, 'Yeah, of course. Anything you want, we'll do it.' So we just [stuck] to that. And then they started their tour, and I checked the setlist, and 'Evil Has No Boundaries' is in the setlist."
Last year, Nergal said that he was thrilled to support SLAYER during the band's farewell tour.
"It makes me sad to see SLAYER go," he said. "It was a huge honor to be part of it. It was amazing on one hand; on the other, it was pretty sad. I just can't imagine a world without SLAYER. I can imagine a world without God, but I can't imagine a world without SLAYER."
He continued: "Things change. People come and people go and we better get used to the idea that BLACK SABBATH is no more, that IRON MAIDEN are counting down their days as well. All the big bands we look up to will go sooner or later — probably sooner, because they're all in their 50s or 60s.
"I've just seen THE ROLLING STONES. Mick Jagger is over 70 and he's amazing, but we're just human, we are very fragile and shit happens.
He added: "I just want to see as much of my favorite music as I can before it's gone."
BEHEMOTH is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "I Loved You At Your Darkest", which was released in October 2018 via Metal Blade Records in North America and Nuclear Blast in Europe.

RON "BUMBLEFOOT" THAL Talks Making Of New SONS OF APOLLO Album - "We Only Had Eight Days"
Guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal recently guested on Sonic Perspectives and discussed the forthcoming Sons Of Apollo record, as well as joining Asia as touring singer/guitarist earlier this year. Check out the audio interview below.
Bumblefoot: "The first album, Derek and I would make all these riffs that we would throw into the hat, and then we had maybe 11 days in the studio where we would put them all together and expand on the ideas and turn it into songs. And Billy (Sheehan / bass) was there for that as well once he got off tour. Then Jeff (Scott Soto /vocals) would turn all these crazy prog monstrosities into these palatable, beautiful songs, which is what Jeff does. He's just magic. And the same thing with us now. Now we did the same thing where me and Derek would come up with all these crazy ideas and just throw them into the hat and then me, Derek and Mike (Portnoy / drums) got together. This time we only had eight days, and we just busted out everything we could in eight days and there was a little more of a chance after that where I could take all my guitar parts and work on them at my studio and Derek at his, and that was just the only way we could pull it off this year.
Sons Of Apollo - former Dream Theater members Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, David Lee Roth) and Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Journey, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force) - are ready to ring in the new decade with a sonic boom with their second studio album, appropriately titled, MMXX (pronounced: 20/20).
Produced by The Del Fuvio Brothers (Portnoy and Sherinian), MMXX will be released on January 17 via InsideOutMusic/Sony as a standard CD package, Limited Edition 2 CD package (which includes instrumental mixes and a cappella excerpts), 2 LP + CD package, and on all digital formats. Pre-order here. Digital pre-orders come with an instant download of the album’s first single, “Goodbye Divinity”. A video for the song can be seen below:
“Stylistically, we have followed the same path as the debut,” outlines drummer Mike Portnoy. “But we feel that it has come out stronger, simply because we know one another better. Psychotic Symphony was the first time the five of us had worked together, so there was bound to be an air of experimentation happening. Now, we can draw on having the experience not only of recording that album, but also of touring together a lot. And now there is clearly a lot more obvious chemistry going on.”
“We did 83 shows on the last tour,” adds keyboardist Derek Sherinian. “And it was so worthwhile, because we came out of it with a stronger bond, and that is certainly reflected in what we wrote.”
The writing process began at the start of the year, as Portnoy, Sherinian and guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal got together. “The three of us were at my home studio in Pennsylvania,” explains Portnoy. “And it took about three weeks to get all the music written. That was a very smooth process. The last time, it certainly must have felt a little weird for Bumblefoot to be writing with Derek and me, because we were strangers to him. Now, we know one another better and that helped things push along.”
“Because we all have our home studios, it meant everyone could record there as and when they had opportunity,” continues Sherinian. “We all had the luxury of being able to take our time to get all the parts done, which was a huge help in the way the album's come out. I suppose in all, it took about eight months to record everything.”
The lyrics were written by Soto, who also came up with the melody lines with input from Sherinian. “While Jeff was left to come up with the words on his own, as the melody lines are part of the music, it made sense for me to be involved with that part,” says the keyboard player.
There are eight tracks on MMXX, with variations in length totalling 60 minutes. “The final song is 'New World Today, which is 16 minutes long,” says Portnoy. “This one has elements similar to 'Opus Maximus' and 'Labyrinth' on the previous album. It has some insane, brilliant instrumental moments, which I am sure the fans will love.”
“We wanted to do something epic here, as we did with 'Opus Maximus' last time around,” adds Sherinian. “You have to remember that Mike and I come from Dream Theater, where we never bothered about how long a song was. So, for us doing a 16 minute track is not a problem.”
The album title was inspired by a simple chronological fact. “This will be released in mid-January 2020,” says Portnoy. “That means it will be one of the first releases in what is a new decade. So I came up with the idea of calling it '2020,’ except having it written in the Latin form of 'MMXX'.” And the album’s artwork has been created by Thomas Ewerhard (who was responsible for the cover design of Psychotic Symphony), which inevitably reflects the title. As Portnoy explains, “For the first record, we had a mythological feel. This time around though, there's a much more futuristic style to what we've got. It has a very 21st century appeal. And the band crest is more polished, cleaned up and a lot more modern than last time, when it had an old fashioned look.”
“Each member of this band has their own signature sound on their instrument,” adds Sherinian. “And when you put all of this together what you get is a wonderful five-headed beast. It makes this a sonically special band, which is definitely what comes across on MMXX. You can hear odd time signatures and amazingly crazy performances here. Overall, we've been satisfyingly more adventurous this time than we were before, and I know people are sure to love what we've done.”
MMXX tracklisting:
"Goodbye Divinity"
"Wither To Black"
"Asphyxiation"
"Desolate July"
"King Of Delusion"
"Fall To Ascend"
"Resurrection Day"
"New World Today"

ENSLAVED Re-Signs With NUCLEAR BLAST
Norwegian progressive black avantgardists ENSLAVED have re-signed with Nuclear Blast, renewing a collaboration that has been ongoing for around ten years and two years ago produced the universally lauded album "E".
Band founding member and guitarist Ivar Bjørnson stated about the re-signing: "It is with great pleasure we re-sign our record deal with Nuclear Blast worldwide! We have been working together for more or less a decade, and it has been an individed positive experience. They have both the heart to grasp our musical visions and the business muscles to spread them out into the world. When you add personal friendships with the wonderful people in America, U.K. and Germany, it is simply an ideal situation for us to be in. Onwards, forwards and in all directions!"
To mark the occasion, ENSLAVED presents a stunning new music video filled with atmospheric imaginery for their interpretation of "What Else Is There" by Norwegian electropop band RÖYSKOPP. The song is featured as a bonus track on the digipack CD and digital version of "E".
Watch and listen below.
An album full of revelatory moments, spine-tingling dynamics and exquisite but alien atmospheres, "E" showcased a refreshed ENSLAVED lineup via songs that took the band into unprecedented territory. From the grandiose, weather-beaten riff-scapes of 11-minute opener "Storm Son To The Wild", psychedelic frontier squall of "Sacred Horse" and the muscular, sax-powered shoegaze barrage of monstrous closer "Hiindsiight", it was both a typically bold and fearless statement from this most inventive of modern metal bands and a thrilling sideways step that harnessed the spirit of old and set it loose in a whirlwind of imagination. Conceptually, too, ENSLAVED made giant forward strides. | +9

JOHANNA SADONIS Doesn't Like It When LUCIFER Is Called 'Stoner' Band: 'I Actually Hate That Word'
Alex Haber of Heavy New York conducted an interview with frontwoman Johanna Sadonis of heavy rockers LUCIFER prior to the band's March 27 concert at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, New York. You can watch the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On whether their recent "Lucifer II" studio album is the natural follow-up to their 2015 "Lucifer I" debut:
Johanna: "It's a continuation. Of course, there was a change in lineup between the first and second album, so it is a whole different animal, but I think when you see us live, we play stuff from the first and the second album, it blends in together. It ends up being the same beast, but with a little bit of a twist in the story."
On whether LUCIFER's new band members (including multi-instrumentalist Nicke Andersson of ENTOMBED and THE HELLACOPTERS fame) helped her continue in the vein of their first album:
Johanna: "No, because the original idea for LUCIFER was to actually sound way more than LUCIFER sounds now. When I was looking for a co-writing partner and [ex-CATHEDRAL guitarist] Gaz Jennings joined the band for the first album, it turned out way more doom than I had maybe planned originally for, which was great. I'm very proud of the first album; I love it. But when Gaz left, I thought that's the perfect opportunity to go back to that first initial thought for me of LUCIFER, which is a heavy rock-based band and Nicke, who I'm writing all the songs with since the second album, agreed with that. I don't think when the third album is recorded that the leap will be as big as between as the first two."
On whether she needs to hear music before coming up with a lyrical concept:
Johanna: "Yeah, but there's so many different approaches and we had all kind of cases. Often, I scribble down words that come to my head and I put them away and sometimes the music itself brings something, like I'm demoing vocals by myself and I'm trying to think, 'Okay, what does this feel like, this song?' Something comes out. I have no idea where from, but the lyrics start to already form with the first initial demoing. Sometimes, I draw a blank, then I have to go back to my notes: 'Okay, this one could be about death as well.' [Laughs] There's so many different ways to approach the music. Also with the songwriting, we do it so many different ways. Sometimes Nicke will talk about, 'Okay, we could do something that sounds like URIAH HEEP 'Look At Yourself'.' Then we sit down and it turns into something different. Usually he comes with the music, he writes some riffs and so on, then I sit down and I write the lyrics and the vocal melody, but we've had it the other way around, too. There's two songs on the new album where I gave Nicke a verse and a chorus and he wrote the music around it."
On whether her lyrics are inward or outward-looking:
Johanna: "No, they always are from my inside. They are actually all very personal, but I do shroud them in metaphors. Sometimes, I do tip my hat to something, like on 'California Son', you have the 'Born To Be Wild' and the 'Riders On The Storm', but these are purposely little hints to things that I like. But, generally, they're all from within."
On whether she's trying to leave her lyrics open to interpretation or help listeners see things from a similar point of view:
Johanna: "Both. I mean, I like when lyrics are a little bit more vague, so you can kind of make your own sense of it. But I also like songs when I listen to as a music fan, where it's a story that touches me or that I can relate to somehow."
On describing LUCIFER's sound:
Johanna: "It's always heavy rock. I think that's the basic concept. The first album, of course, had a lot of doom in it. The second album has that a little bit, but not so much. I would say it's a heavy rock band. What I don't understand is when we somehow get the tag 'stoner', because that has never had anything to do with LUCIFER. I just think it's really funny. I actually hate that word. [Laughs] I'm sorry. Nothing against people who dig that. I don't know — it's such a generalization. There's a difference between doom and stoner stuff. It seems like nowadays everything gets thrown into the same box."
"Lucifer II" was recorded at the Honk Palace in Stockholm. It was mixed by Ola Ersfjord (DEAD LORD, TRIBULATION, PRIMORDIAL) at Cuervo Recording Service in Madrid.

Watch TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA Perform SAVATAGE's 'Believe'
Although SAVATAGE has played just one official concert — a co-headlining appearance at the 2015 edition of Germany's Wacken Open Air festival — since the end of its world tour in support of 2001's Poets & Madmen", several of the group's songs have been prominently featured over the years in live performances by TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, whose two touring troupes feature a number of SAVATAGE alumni.
This year's TSO tour — which kicked off yesterday (November 13) — is no exception. In addition to "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" — the 1995 SAVATAGE song that was re-released the following year under the TSO moniker — the band is once again performing "Believe", the closing track to SAVATAGE's 1991 album "Streets: A Rock Opera". TSO has performed the song in the past and even re-recorded it for the 2009 double album "Night Castle", but yesterday's performances of the song were TSO's first since it shared the stage with SAVATAGE at Wacken.
Fan-filmed footage of "TSO East" — which features onetime SAVATAGE bandmates Chris Caffery (guitar) and Jeff Plate (drums) — performing "Believe" with vocalist Robin Borneman can be seen below, as can footage of "TSO West" (which includes longtime SAVATAGE bassist Johnny Lee Middleton and mid-to-late-'90s lead guitarist Al Pitrelli) playing the song with vocalist Nate Amor.
In addition to members of SAVATAGE, TSO's touring troupes also include a number of other notable hard rock and metal musicians, including guitarist Joel Hoekstra (WHITESNAKE), vocalist Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X), vocalist Dino Jelusic (ANIMAL DRIVE, DIRTY SHIRLEY), drummer Blas Elias (SLAUGHTER) and vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (SONS OF APOLLO, SOTO).
This year's TSO tour — during which the band is expected to play before more than one million fans — sees the group performing its triple-platinum 1996 debut album, "Christmas Eve And Other Stories", for the first time since 2011.

GHOST's TOBIAS FORGE To Receive STIM's Platinum Award
GHOST mastermind Tobias Forge will be awarded the prestigious STIM Platinum Guitar this year.
STIM, the Swedish performing rights society, protects the interests of authors and publishers of music in Sweden.
The Platinum Guitar has been awarded since 2004 to authors who have experienced exceptional success over the year.
Forge will receive the award for "his exceptional success as a music creator."
"Artistry usually involves performing works on stage," Tobias said in a statement. "But since the songwriting is ultimately the very essence of the business, such a fine award is fantastically meaningful to get as a songwriting artist."
Previous STIM award winners include Veronica Maggio, Avicii, Max Martin and Robyn.
GHOST spent the past year and a half touring in support of its latest album, "Prequelle", which was produced by Tom Dalgety and originally released in on June 1, 2018. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award as "Best Rock Album", and for Sweden's Grammis award as "Best Rock/Metal Record Of The Year", and Dalgety received a Grammy nomination as "Producer Of The Year." Both Revolver and Kerrang! magazines named "Prequelle" the best album of 2018, and the album produced three Top 10 singles — "Rats", "Dance Macabre" (both of which went to No. 1 at Rock Radio) and "Faith". To date, "Prequelle" has accumulated some 250 million streams globally.

KISS: Officially Licensed ERIC CARR Coins Available
Icon Coins has introduced the officially licensed Eric Carr commemorative collectors coin.
Carr, KISS drummer from 1980 until his untimely passing in 1991, contributed his talent to the bands many gold and platinum albums during his tenure, and can be heard on the band's many hit songs from the 1980s, including "Lick It Up", "Heaven's On Fire", "Crazy Nights", "Tears Are Falling" and "Forever", to name a few. In addition to his musical contributions, Carr was equally known for his inviting personality and genuine love for the fans. From the time he joined the band to this very day, Carr remains one of the most beloved members of the KISS family.
Each Eric Carr commemorative collectors coin is die struck in heavy solid brass with an antique silver finish. The front design features a beautiful sketch portrait of Eric Carr while the back design features his name, birth and passing years, Fox and Chikara icons representing his musical personas, over a shattered glass background reminiscent of the "Crazy Nights" album cover.
Each coin will also include an exclusive backstage-pass-style laminate that will act as the coins certificate of authenticity featuring design elements from the coins themselves as well as an Eric Carr mini-bio.
This addition to the Icon Coins family is limited to 100 coins minted.
Icon Coins designer Ralph Asbury has a long history when it comes to keeping the memory of Eric Carr alive. It started in the late 1990s with an action figure. At the time, McFarlane Toys had released the first set of official KISS action figures as KISS was back on top of the world with the reunion tour. To help fans complete the set, Ralph created one of the earliest custom-made Eric Carr action figures by re-purposing the Paul Stanley figure to represent the Fox character. (One of these custom creations can be seen on the Eric Carr documentary "The Eric Carr Story: Inside The Tale Of The Fox".) This led to an introduction to Eric's family and the next effort to honor The Fox…
In 2000, Eric Carr tribute album "Prophecy" was released. This project was a collection of songs written and performed by Ralph (under the name Ralph E. Carle) and dedicated to Eric Carr. The packaging was designed as a fantasy version of the 1978 KISS solo albums featuring Ralph on the cover as a fictional KISS character presented as a portrait similar to the existing albums. As the bandmembers dedicated their solo albums to the other members, "Prophecy" was dedicated to Eric. The album opens with a rare radio ID the was recorded prior to Eric's passing in 1991. Also included on the album are two different versions of the song "Your Turn To Cry", as pre-KISS song recorded by Eric Carr with his teenage band THE CELLARMEN. The first version on the album is a cover version of the song, and the second version is the original recording featuring Eric on drums and vocals. "Prophecy" was well received by KISS and Eric Carr fans alike. Ralph appeared at KISS Expos around the U.S. and Canada performing the songs and meeting fans of The Fox.
In 2011, "Eric Carr: Unfinished Business" was released. This project featured various artists and friends of Eric Carr completing demos and incomplete songs left behind by Carr. Ralph Asbury was called on to design the packaging CD as well as coordinating some of the guest musicians who contributed to the album, including A.J. Pero of TWISTED SISTER and Kee Marcello of EUROPE. | +2

SHARON OSBOURNE Says OZZY And POST MALONE 'Nailed It' With Their Performance At AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS
During today's (Monday, November 25) episode of her daytime TV talk show "The Talk", Sharon Osbourne dished on husband Ozzy's performance with Post Malone and Travis Scott at last night's American Music Awards.
The BLACK SABBATH singer, who has spent much of 2019 recovering from health issues and surgeries, returned to the stage for a flame-filled performance of "Take What You Want", from Post Malone's latest album, "Hollywood's Bleeding".
"Obviously, it's the American Music Awards, so it's all pop music and pretty little girls coming on one after the other with their little dances," Sharon said. "And then suddenly there's ugly — a lot of guys get up there. And they nailed it. There was more pyro than I've ever seen. And then I'm, like, 'Oh god, Ozzy. Please don't move. Everything has happened to you except set on fire. Please don't move. Don't move.' And then, of course, he's moving around, and I'm going, 'Oh god, please. Did we put hair spray on him?' And then, at the end of it, [Andrew] Watt, the guitar player, goes boom with his guitar, and I'm, like, 'Yes!'" Sharon added: "You know what? To be able to get up with Post and Travis Scott, it was just amazing."
Three days before his American Music Awards appearance, Ozzy joined Post Malone onstage at a show at the Forum in Los Angeles to perform the same song. The performance marked the first time Ozzy stepped on stage since a New Year's Eve performance nearly a year ago.
"Take What You Want", which debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 8, marked Osbourne's first Hot 100 top 10 in over 30 years, as the BLACK SABBATH singer broke the record for the most time between top 10s in the chart's 61-year history.
One of Post's producers, Watt connected with Osbourne after meeting Ozzy's daughter Kelly at a friend's party and pitching her on the idea of Post and Ozzy collaborating together.

LAST IN LINE Is Seeking New Record Label Home
DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell has revealed in a new interview with the "Pat's Soundbytes Unplugged" podcast that his LAST IN LINE side project is seeking a new record label home after issuing two albums through Italy's Frontiers Music Srl.
"We are gonna be looking for a new record label, so that's an exciting thing for us," he said (hear audio below). "We've done a couple of records with Frontiers, and we did not renew our contract with them. So we're in negotiations with some major players, so that will be exciting for us — to do a new record and be on a new label and hopefully get more of a global reach. It's all part and parcel of hard work. We've been working very, very hard for the last few years with LAST IN LINE, and it'll be nice to actually take it to the next level."
Asked if LAST IN LINE has considered forming its own record label to release the band's future recordings and make sure the group is compensated properly, Vivian said: "It's not about the money. I mean, there's not a lot of money in records — even for a band like DEF LEPPARD. There's very, very few people who sell a lot of records nowadays. Maybe if you're Adele or someone like that. It's more about getting music to people's ears. That's the hardest part — distributing music and promoting music. And that's the reason to go with an established label.
"In large part, when you're a musician, the music itself is a reward," he continued. "You create something beautiful, and if it means something to people and it resonates with people, then you've done your job.
"We're in a very enterainment-heavy age, with three million television channels and the Internet and everyone's got a smartphone. Everyone kind of focuses on what is of interest to them, and the hardest thing is getting new music to people's ears and making people aware of it and actually getting your music to the kind of people who would wanna hear it. And that's promotion. It can be difficult, it can be challenging, and it's a constantly changing environment. New platforms come along every year or two, and you've gotta kind of adapt. The one thing that will never change is live music. I'm happy to say that's one thing that — you can't package it."
According to Campbell, LAST IN LINE has already composed most of the music that will appear on the band's third album, which, he says, will "expand" on the material that was included on this year's "II" effort.
"I think we're getting very ambitious with our writing, as we did on the 'II' album over the first album, which was 'Heavy Crown', with [late LAST IN LINE bassist] Jimmy [Bain]. Ever since Phil's [Soussan, Jimmy's replacement] been in the band, I think we're stretching more. We're taking some chances; we're experimenting on some stuff. And Andy [Freeman, vocals] is such a flexible writer that he's able to write a melody across sometimes what are very unusual musical progressions. And riffy — more intricate. So we're definitely pushing ourselves. I'd say at this point, we probably have 80 or 90 percent of the music [written] for the record. Obviously, Andy's gotta do a lot of work and write a lot of the melodies and lyrics, but he's very, very quick with that. We were hoping to start the record in January-February."
LAST IN LINE was formed in 2012, when Campbell, Bain and drummer Vinny Appice — Ronnie James Dio's co-conspirators and co-writers on the "Holy Diver", "Last In Line" and "Sacred Heart" albums — teamed up with Freeman. "Heavy Crown" was released in February 2016, landing at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Initially, the release had been preceded by tragedy when Bain unexpectedly passed away at the age of 68 on January 23, 2016. LAST IN LINE, honoring what they knew would be Bain's wish to keep the band moving, brought in Soussan and committed to sustained touring in support of the album, hitting festivals, headlining clubs, and sharing the stage with metal luminaries such as SAXON and MEGADETH.

ERIC KRETZ Confirms Next STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Album Will Be Mostly Acoustic
In a recent interview with Australia's Heavy magazine, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS drummer Eric Kretz shared more information about the band's follow-up to their 2018 self-titled album, the first with new vocalist Jeff Gutt. The new effort is not expected to arrive before early 2020.
"Yeah, it's an acoustic-ish record," he said (hear audio below). "I mean, it's not all acoustic. There's some electric guitars and some keyboards in there. It has strings in there and just some beautiful other instrumentation. It's something that we kind of delved on 25 years ago when we starting doing the [MTV] 'Unplugged' thing in New York. We just love being able to present songs in that genre, so we wanted to do not only just a few songs like that, but we said, 'Why don't we do a whole album so we can do a tour?' We're going to do about a three-week tour we're looking at for America. Being able to present the songs in just a different light and just try things a little different and maybe be able to play some material that we haven't been able to touch in 25 years or 20 years. Songs that I don't necessarily… songs that will be really fun to play maybe with some extra players onstage. We haven't worked it all out yet. You'll be hearing bits and pieces of the new record really soon."
Kretz then went on to discuss what Gutt has brought to STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. The 43-year-old Michigan native beat out 15,000 other hopefuls for the vacant STP singer slot after an extended search that lasted for more than a year.
"When we were auditioning singers, not only was his voice a mile wide when he first hit the first mic, but he was the only guy that every time we wrote a song on the spot, he could come up with a melody and lyrics for it," he said. "It was, like, 'Oh, man this is great!' It was very similar to what we had with [original vocalist] Scott [Weiland] in the early '90s where he could come up with ideas and start coming in with a melody right away and not say, 'Oh, I have to think about this for a few days before I even come up with a melody.' That's not the way we work. We work really fast. If someone has a riff, we all just jump in and change it sometimes, or sometimes we stick with it or turn it upside down, add some Tabasco to it and a little bit of spices and do our thing. Writing with Jeff was so important. We didn't want to do catalog. We wanted to be able to forge forward with new music. It just worked out great. I'm really happy with the 2018 self-titled and the new record. He's really, really shining on that one. He's the real deal."
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS recently completed a co-headlining North American tour with RIVAL SONS. The trek kicked off in Baltimore on September 13, with stops in Philadelphia, New York City, New Orleans and more, before wrapping up in STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' former hometown of San Diego on October 9. | +1
