JETHRO TULL's Ian Anderson and his longtime friend/collaborator Leslie Mandoki have recorded the song "We Say Thank You" as a dedication to everyone on the frontline, from the doctors to grocery store workers, in the unbelievable coronavirus battle.
Written by the Hungarian-born/German producer/songwriter/bandleader of SOULMATES (which has featured Ian through the years), "We Say Thank You" was written in the context of Leslie's own isolation in Germany, where his doctor wife, Eva, is a first contact physician. Using social distancing as the foundation for their collaboration, Leslie e-mailed tracks to England for Ian to sing and play flute on between April 7 and 8.
Ian and Leslie have worked together for over 20 years on various collaborations with his jazz-rock band SOULMATES featuring the good and great of classic rock and jazz. Artists in SOULMATES (through the years) have included David Clayton-Thomas, Bobby Kimball, Tony Carey, Jack Bruce, Chaka Khan, Chris Thompson, Steve Lukather, Eric Burdon, Nik Kershaw, Greg Lake, Al Di Meola, Randy and Michael Brecker, Bill Evans, Mike Stern, Paul Carrack, Peter Frampton and Jon Lord.
In addition to the brave, hardworking front-line medics and care workers, the lyrics reference the police, grocery clerks, supermarket workers. Ian adds the dark reference to the speculators making a killing from the current crisis. He says: "They know who they are."

Formed in 1981, SORTILÈGE released a self-titled EP in 1983 and followed it up with an amazing debut album, "Métamorphose", one year later. The two releases quickly gained cult status, and are now known as some of the most important — if not the most important — heavy metal releases from France.
Although SORTILÈGE's original albums all featured French lyrics (as did practically all French metal albums back in the '80s), English-language versions of the band's two albums ("Métamorphose" and 1986's "Larmes De Héros") were also made available.
SORTILÈGE one of DEATH leader Chuck Schuldiner's favorite bands, and he proudly wore his SORTILÈGE t-shirt at various concerts prior to his untimely passing in 2001.
WHITESNAKE singer David Coverdale has uploaded a video of him performing a new song on acoustic guitar while in quarantine.
Earlier today, Coverdale tweeted "Song For Saturday...:) XXX" and he posted the track, which features the lyrics: "And the sun will shine for you and me, for you and me, Baby, can't you see. And the sun will shine for you and me, for you and me. We're meant to be."
As previously reported, all of WHITESNAKE's previously announced touring activities, including this summer's U.S. trek with SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE and NIGHT RANGER, have been canceled so that Coverdale can undergo surgery for bilateral inguinal hernia.
Last month, WHITESNAKE postponed its Japanese tour due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus.
Coverdale had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.
WHITESNAKE has been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood", which was released last May via Frontiers Music Srl. The disc follows the 2011 critically acclaimed studio album "Forevermore" and 2015's "The Purple Album", a reimagining of DEEP PURPLE classics from Coverdale's time in that band.
Joining Coverdale on "Flesh & Blood" is the band comprised of Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra on guitar, Michael Devin on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums, and Michele Luppi on keyboards.

Last month, SLIPKNOT postponed its previously announced tour of Asia, including the band's two-day Knotfest Japan festival, because of "global health concerns" amid the spread of coronavirus.
Coronavirus, which originated in China, has already claimed more than 100,000 lives worldwide, including 18,000 in the U.S.
SLIPKNOT spent the last year touring in support of its latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which came out in August. The disc sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Furthermore, the album made an impact worldwide with No. 1 debuts in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Japan, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal and Finland, as well as Top 5 debuts in Germany, France, Norway, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain and New Zealand.

When a person turns 50, they usually spend that entire year celebrating in as large of a way as possible to make it their biggest and most memorable birthday yet.
Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Richie Kotzen. is taking the concept literally, as he's released his most ambitious album to date, and he wants to share this big birthday present to himself with his fans around the world.
50 For 50 - his 22nd solo album - was released February 3 via his own custom label, Headroom-Inc. The self-produced three-disc collection is just what the title implies: a collection of 50 previously unreleased compositions produced, performed and written by Kotzen in honor of his birthday. It’s the follow-up to his critically acclaimed Salting Earth album, which was released in 2017 via Headroom-Inc.
Although Kotzen has been hailed as a guitar virtuoso since the release of his first album, it is his emotional lead vocal delivery and diverse songwriting style that separates him from his peers thanks in large part to artists that influenced him in the Philly Soul R&B to Jazz, Rock, Funk, and Fusion Guitar genres. 50 For 50 captures the full artistic scope of what makes Richie Kotzen such a unique artist.
“The idea of a 50 song album came to me while I was on tour sometime last year,” Kotzen explains. “I had completed what would have been your typical 10 to 12 song album and was anticipating a 2020 release. Somewhere along the line, I discovered a few completed songs that for whatever reason were never released. Along with that, I found a massive collection of material that was in various forms of completion. Some songs had drums bass and piano with no vocal, other songs were nothing more than a bass line and a vocal melody and so on. I decided to take that summer and fall, stay in the studio, and see how many of these ideas I could bring to completion. The concept was to include the already completed works and finish the other ideas and then stop once I reached 50 songs. Reality is we’ve got way more sitting on the hard drives waiting for attention. I figured if I can walk out of the studio with 50 songs (that I like) mixed and mastered, I can release a 50 song package on my 50th birthday.”

Pink Floyd have released a restored and re-edited live version of their classic “Money” taken from 1995’s live album, Pulse, which was filmed live on October 20th, 1994 at Earls Court in London, UK. The song is included on ‘The Later Years’, a 18-disc box set (5xCDs, 6xBlu-Rays, 5xDVDs, 2x7”) covering the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards, with unreleased audio and audiovisual material, including the 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts, as well as updated, restored and remixed audio and video, 2 x 7” singles, 60-page hardback Photo Book, 40-page hardback Credits Book, Lyrics Book, 3 x reproduction tour programmes, card envelope containing collectible memorabilia, plus Blu-rays and DVDs in individual wallets.

Says Lanvall (Guitars & Keyboards): "The financial conditions of the postponed dates would have changed massively to the already agreed conditions we had for the April/May dates. This made it impossible for us being a part of this touring package anymore unfortunately. Furthermore we would only have been part at the rescheduled December gigs in Wetzikon, Trier, Aschaffenburg and Manchester anyway. The remaining rescheduled dates were already planned with a different special guest. We are working on an own headline tour for spring 2021 and we will present you the first dates soon!"
KILL THE LIGHTS, the band featuring former members of BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, STILL REMAINS and THROW THE FIGHT, has released the official music video for a new song called "Plagues".
"Lyrically, 'Plagues' deals with the fear of being alone, and feelings of isolation away from family, friends, and loved ones," says vocalist James Clark. "It forces you to take a hard look at yourself and accept that we are all vulnerable and need human interaction and love. As a founding member of Welsh metal titans BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, Michael "Moose" Thomas lived a rock'n'roll dream that few ever get to see with their own eyes — winning awards, selling millions of albums, touring with his idols, and playing numerous sold-out headline shows, becoming one of the biggest metal exports in U.K. history. After parting ways with the band he formed to focus on his family four years ago, 2020 sees the drummer extraordinaire back where he belongs in international new band KILL THE LIGHTS.
"I'm super grateful and excited to be back. I can't wait for everyone to hear this," grins Moose, of the new project completed by Clark (THROW THE FIGHT), guitarists Jordan Whelan (STILL REMAINS) and Travis Montgomery (THREAT SIGNAL).
"When I parted company with the old band, musically I was just sitting around doing fuck-all and realized I had worked too hard and come too far to turn around," continued Moose. "I thought I'd get in touch with Jordan and sent him a text asking, 'Got any riffs or what?!' Before I knew it, he had sent me 30 or 40 songs. I was like, 'Erm, okay!' I couldn't believe it."
"I'm a hobby songwriter," explained Jordan, "which means I'm writing every day, whether it's for a band or not. I've known Moose since I was a 19-year-old kid. Funnily enough, his first tour in the States was opening up for my band, then he said we should jump on a tour with them through the U.K. — which ended up being the Kerrang! Tour of 2006. The chemistry was there right off the bat and I knew right away this could be something that takes over the world."
Frontman James Clark joined after auditioning on a demo of what would become the group's debut single, "The Faceless".
"We all want to do something fresh, and for me it was about exploring some of the throwback metal more like [IRON] MAIDEN or [JUDAS] PRIEST that I felt had gotten lost over the years, but in a new way," said the singer.

METALLICA has posted another video as part of its new concert series, "#MetallicaMondays", where the band is streaming a complete live show for fans on the group's YouTube channel and on Facebook every week. The third concert to be shared was recorded on July 22, 2009 at at Forum København in Copenhagen, Denmark and can be seen below.
The band said in a statement, "While we're all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music, so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance?"
METALLICA has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when the band canceled an Australian tour and announced that frontman James Hetfield was returning to rehab for the first time since 2002 to battle his addictions.
Hetfield made his first major public appearance since entering rehab on January 30, when an exhibit featuring 10 of his classic custom cars opened at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
Last month, METALLICA announced that its South American tour, which was originally planned for April, has been postponed until December. In addition, the band's appearances at three Danny Wimmer Presents-produced festivals in May have been canceled: Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome To Rockville in Daytona and Sonic Temple in Columbus.
Guitarist Kirk Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that METALLICA has to be in better than average shape to play its music live. "There's a physicality to our music that we cannot ignore, so we just kind of have to keep ourselves in a certain sort of physical sort of state where that we can't let ourselves get to a point where we can't play these songs," he said. "That's just not allowed. When we write this music, we have to make sure that we can play it and play it when we need to play it."

On a lighter note, Mike says that "'Take Me Higher' is a real fun rockin' track with a lot of movement and energy. Ailyn did a fantastic job on the vocals, as she did on the entire album, with some great multiple harmony layers. The mid section dropdown enters the solo section with a cool effect I tracked using my kill switch then kicks back up into the solo and takes off. The track has a great energy for the album and the melody has you singing along before the track ends. Video wise Ailyn, myself & the film crew shot right in the heart of New York City's Times Square & Central Park. We also shot Ailyn singing directly in front of the Macy's 4th of July fireworks show near the famous Brooklyn Bridge."
This exciting new musical alliance came about through the vision of Frontiers, who put the two artists - each eager to create a new and exciting project - in touch. The pair gelled extremely well, creating an album that offers songs that will excite all lovers of technical, aggressive, modern and extremely catchy heavy music. Melting the well defined metal approach of Adrenaline Mob with more melodic hooks, Her Chariot Awaits showcases the incredible vocal talents of Ailyn. Here, she moves in a heavier and more straight ahead direction compared to her previous band.

Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Spell's new LP Opulent Decay is now available as of April 10, 2020 via Bad Omen Records. With the full length's release, they are also sharing the new video “Dawn Wanderer”.
Spell's debut, 2014's Full Moon Sessions, and 2017 LP, For None And All, are proof positive of an outfit - completed by drummer and co-vocalist Al Lester and guitarist Graham McVie - whose grasp of diverting dynamics matched their infectious songcraft. However, these were apparently mere preludes to Opulent Decay, the band’s third and finest record to date.
In addition to the lyrical influence of romantic poets like Keats, Shelley and Coleridge, there's an underlying concept to Opulent Decay, as Cam explains: “All of the songs deal with the contrast between opulence and austerity, and the decay that results from imbalance. Our drive to avoid suffering is strong, but it can be overcome by the love for another and the desire to put them before yourself. Opulent Decay examines this balance and the dangers that await on either side of the pendulum."
Divining its art from the realm of nocturnal visions and fantasies, Spell has already proven to be mighty chroniclers of the more supernatural quarters of the heavy music sphere.
“Music, like dreams, exists in feeling rather than explanation," continues Mesmer. "In sleep, the strangest things can elicit joy or terror — this is why dreams are so difficult to articulate. Creating music, for me, is similar; often, I’ll wake in the dead of night with a powerful feeling or melody in my mind, not connected to reality in any concrete way. I’ll then leap out of bed to try and capture it before it disappears!”

'Low Road' is maybe one of the heaviest songs we’ve ever written, filled with the brutalness of the human mind that can be both vicious and lost. Everybody have probably found themselves fumbling in the dark at some point in life. And with 'Low Road' there is no way out. We love playing this song live, because it's just raw, balls to the wall rock power. Hopefully this can be a relief for a moment in this wicked world.
“With the video for 'Low Road' we just wanted to express ourselves live and adding some humor to this raw tune putting ourselves in a twisted surreal TV-show. And in some way it’s an honor to some of our heros from the ‘60s-‘70s era of rock ‘n’ roll it’s where we got the inspiration from. The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, MC5, The Rolling Stones to mention a few. The ones who did something to break down the barriers. Imagine, to be the ones taking the first steps opening up the world to heavier rock music. We love them for that."

Holy Moly! was written, produced and recorded in Blues Pills' own analogue studio which they built in the beautiful countryside of Närke, Sweden. In the old factory building, where the studio is located Zack, Elin and André spent almost a year recording and writing songs.
”This album is something we’ll be proud of even after death. These songs are from a very dark period of our lives. So much loss, anger and anxiety. Sadness and change. A separation into reincarnation. We stand behind every note and every word. This album was created in darkness and it guided us into the light again. One can only hope it will give you comfort too.”
Blues Pills founders and main songwriters Elin and Zack spent the majority of their waking moments arranging and refining the songs. Together with drummer André they built up an album in nuances of light and dark. The album is recorded by Blues Pills guitarist Zack, although with some helping hands along the way from The Hives members Nicolaus Arson and Johan Gustafsson, as well as Martin Jacobsson from Rovljud Sound.
Holy Moly! is self-produced by Blues Pills and mixed by the Grammy award winning Andrew Scheps.

Texas speed metal stalwarts Rabid Flesh Eaters have revealed a new video for the song “The Fall,” from their quartet’s latest album, R.F.E., available tomorrow.
“The Fall” follows the video’s main character as he partakes in mind-altering drugs and begins seeing zombies and monsters. In his altered state, the character begins taking on and killing these enemies, only to find out – once sober – that his victims were innocent people.
“’The Fall’ video can be viewed as a self-reflection on damaging yourself and others while suffering in a state of total psychotic turmoil,” says guitarist Mike Taylor. “Your perception of reality can be twisted and dangerous to your health and others.”
Adds bassist John Hill, “Eventually, there is a price to pay for everything. PSA – Don’t Do Drugs!”
“The Fall” was produced by Cyclonus Video, the company responsible for the recently released “Lycanthrope” video, taken from Rabid Flesh Eaters’ Reign Of Terror album.
After over 30 years of a brotherhood founded on the searing fire of classic metal bands like Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Slayer, and Rigor Mortis, the aggressive foaming at the mouth sonic assault of the R.F.E. is more relentless than ever.
“We recommend people get vaccinated for rabies before they listen,” teases bassist John Hill. “Even a man who is pure of heart, and says his prayers at night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms, and the moon is full and bright.”
R.F.E.’s eight vicious new tracks are stronger and achieve heavier, faster heights than anything they’ve released before. With developed dynamics, extreme tightness, and a heart pounding impact this band has clearly evolved since their last album, 2016’s Reign of Terror. Beyond setting new standards for today’s speed metal genre, this record is a visceral homage to their longtime friends, Texas metal legends Rigor Mortis - drummer Harden Harrison, bassist Casey Orr, and their fallen brothers, guitarist Mike Scaccia (1965-2012) and vocalist Bruce Corbitt (1962-2019).
“We feel Mike Scaccia’s and Bruce Corbitt’s spiritual energy around us every day, both when we’re making music or just hanging out,” says Hill. “When these tragedies happened and we lost our buddies who played with us and encouraged us for so many years, we realized that it was high time to honor their legacy. We feel that we’ve done our best to do their songs justice and keep their spirit alive with ‘R.F.E.’”
On R.F.E., the thrashers put crazy new twists on three classic Rigor Mortis - the merciless, murderous war drama “Die In Pain;” the blazing, intensely percussive instrumental “Welcome To Your Funeral;” and the bloody, carnage, plague and vengeance filled “Contagious Contamination.” The album’s title track, a freewheeling, flesh eating, pain inducing romp, features Rigor Mortis vocalist Corbitt’s last recorded studio performance, trading lines with vocalist Ricky Wilson to soul-searing effect.
But make no mistake: R.F.E. is not some sort of Rigor Mortis cover band. While R.F.E. is a visceral homage to their longtime friends, the increasingly angry and aggressive band is fast expanding their influence with their latest epic album. R.F.E. sets new standards for today’s speed metal genre through their own original tunes, such as “Demons Within”, which tackles the dark reality that the demons one needs to conquer are the ones that hide within; and “The Fall,” a searing self-reflection on how those demons can drive one over the edge of sanity.
