Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke has released the official music video for his latest single, "Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder". The Christopher C. Pearson-directed clip was shot in Palmdale, California and downtown Los Angeles, while the band performance footage was filmed in Hollywood club Oh My Ribs!
Gilby's live band members bass player EJ Curse (SILENT RAGE, WHITE LION) and drummer Jimmy D'Anda (BULLETBOYS, GEORGE LYNCH) both appear in the video, along with some great cameos by Slim Jim Phantom (STRAY CATS), Taime Downe (FASTER PUSSYCAT), Jimmy Herald (HILLBILLY HERALD) and Teddy "Zig Zag" Andreadis (GUNS N' ROSES, CAROLE KING, CHUCK BERRY, BO DIDDLEY, ALICE COOPER).
Gilby stated about the track: "The song is about having a rebellious spirit. Rock and roll means many things: rebelling, freedom and being who you are on your own terms — not following whatever's now in vogue. Therefore, 'Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder' means 'I am what I am, I won't change that, and I stand up for things that are important to me, even if it's not popular.'"
"Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder" is taken from Clarke's first solo album in 15 years, "The Gospel Truth", which will be released later this year via Golden Robot Records. The disc was produced and written by Gilby at his Los Angeles recording studio, Redrum Recording, where he's also helmed records for such artists as L.A. GUNS, THE BRONX, BEAT ANGELS, BULLETS AND OCTANE and many more. The album was mixed by Grammy Award winner Chris Lord-Alge and mastered by Maor Appelbaum. Joining Gilby on the LP are Muddy Stardust on bass, Kenny Aronoff (JOHN MELLENCAMP, JOHN FOGERTY, CHICKENFOOT) on drums, along with Matt Starr (ACE FREHLEY, MR. BIG) and Chad Stewart (FASTER PUSSYCAT, L.A. GUNS) on backing vocals.
When asked how his new music may be different to his previous material, Gilby said: "I don't think it's very different at all. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel. I have found the music that I like as an artist and a musician. It's important that I get better at it and try new things, but I like rock and roll, and loud guitars are good for the soul."
Clarke also discussed his songwriting process, saying: "I always start with a good guitar riff, then add the devil's drumbeat. It's good when you can put some interesting lyrics to it, too. I always try to find a new way of saying something simple. I don't like to complicate my lyrics, but I never duplicate them either."
At last year's NAMM show in in Anaheim, California, Clarke stated about the long delay in getting his new solo album completed: "For me, I can't do a record unless I feel good about the songs. I wanna make a record that I wanna listen to. So, these songs I'm really excited about. They're new songs. It really is classic rock. There's really nothing new on it — it's just a new version of what I like to do, which is loud guitars, man. So, I went in there. I used guys like Kenny Aronoff on drums, Steve Perkins — some really great players. I played all the guitars and did all the singing on it. But I think it's good — I think it's a good fresh approach on classic rock, really."
Clarke replaced founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin in the GUNS lineup in 1991, during the "Use Your Illusion" tour, and stayed with the band for three years. After exiting GUNS N' ROSES, Clarke continued as a producer and solo artist, while also playing in SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA, HEART and other acts.
Clarke released his solo debut, "Pawnshop Guitars", in 1994.
There are always a lot of questions asked about California rock legends and effects pedal entrepreneurs STEEL PANTHER. Are they sure heavy metal rules? Do they really play their instruments? Could they be my father? While the answer to all of these questions is "yes," another question is what would have happened if STEEL PANTHER chose a different genre of music? That question is answered in the band's music video for their newest single "Let's Get High Tonight", taken from STEEL PANTHER's latest album "Heavy Metal Rules". The Frankie Nasso-directed clip showcases Michael Starr, Satchel, Lexxi Foxx and Stix Zadinia as a black metal band, a Spanish mariachi band, a boy band, a Baroque classical quartet, and a country/western band. Ultimately, the spandex wearing/Aqua-net loving superheroes made the right choice on music styles, but could use some help picking chauffeurs. You will have to watch the video to see how it ends.
"You've never seen STEEL PANTHER like this before," explains Stix Zadinia.
STEEL PANTHER is currently sitting home practicing social distancing and self-gratification thanks to the coronavirus. The band is planning to return to the road during some month that will kick off in some city with some other bands once the world returns to normal. In the meantime, they are working on ideas for all sorts of new things to better the lives of everyone affected by the pandemic. They recently launched an initiative to help out-of-work strippers affected by the global pandemic by posting about their performances on their socials with links for people to virtually "make it rain" from the comforts of their couches. They are also working on a 24-hour digital stream of adoptable pets as part of their Gods Of Pussy Animal Rescue Activation.
"Heavy Metal Rules" was released last September. The disc, which is described in a press release as a "heavy metal version of a self-help manual and ultimate party album combined," was once again produced by Jay Ruston, who collaborated with the band on all of its previous recordings, including 2017's "Lower The Bar".
STEEL PANTHER specializes in imitating and exaggerating the less flattering aspects of 1980s hair metal, with unrepentantly crude, non-PC sexual content as a favorite lyrical theme.
The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."
Twelve years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.
Heavy metal outfit Virgin Steele have a plethora of updates and new content to share with their fans. The New York-based quartet led by original vocalist David DeFeis is currently in the studio working on their new studio album (which is expected to see a 2020 release), but in the meantime the group has put out three brand new videos; each relating to the band's 2006 release Visions Of Eden, which the band classifies as a "Barbaric-Romantic." Visions Of Eden received a 2-disc re-release in 2017 on SPV/Steamhammer, which can be found here.
The first new video is an "Inside The Music" style mini-documentary discussing the Visions Of Eden album, which in narrative is an exploration of the goddess Lilith. Virgin Steele explore this tale (referenced as "The Lilith Project: A Barbaric-Romantic Movie Of The Mind") in audio/visual fashion. The video/documentary functions as a brief essay that explains, track by track, the themes being presented in the album. Using narration, film clips, still photos, and of course plenty of music, the band dives into both the album and the "Lilith Metal-Opera" that they had previously presented in Germany.
The 2006 studio album from Virgin Steele concerns Lilith, the first “wife” of Adam. In actuality Lilith is the Female Principle Of Divinity, and she is a rebel. Should you need a frame of reference from the male perspective, perhaps she can be considered as something akin to a female Prometheus if you will? However…She is actually something infinitely more powerful. She is the manifestation of the Primal Energy, the Life Force, and Creativity. Indeed She is a major part of the Origin Of All Life itself.
Due to the tremendous appeal, power and popularity of the Great Goddess within early “Pagan” society/religions / “mystery cults”, etc., Patriarchal, Male God worshiping societies felt their status threatened, and therefore enacted laws and actions in which the worship of the Goddess was made illegal. She was demonized, and many attempts were made to inspire scorn and hate against her among women. These attempts were too successful, and the story of Visions Of Eden seeks to parallel what occurred so long, long ago, concerning this paradigm shift and destruction, and the reverberations that can still be felt all along the corridors of Time through to our own era today.
The following two videos are for the tracks "God Above God" and "The Hidden God" from Visions Of Eden. Speaking about the new video for the former, DeFeis says,
"The 'God Above God' video discusses both the paradigm shift mentioned above, and the idea of how the “Black Angels” (3 rather unpleasant Beings on the album)…try to turn Lilith into the opposite of what she actually is. This video begins with a short summation that depicts the idea that everything that is occurring in the album is all happening now, in the mind of a real life modern day woman as she is being raped. As the video develops the viewer becomes privy to Lilith's torment, and hears her cries and appeals to the God Above God."
The final released video is for the track "The Hidden God". DeFeis shares his comments on the both the video and its deeper meanings, stating, "The video for 'The Hidden God is performed from the perspective of the character Samael…who is also the character Adam. He has this dual nature aspect, and our main character Lilith is of course clearly represented in all her various aspects as well. This clip is very atmospheric, but also quite hallucinogenic and dark as the subject matter for the entire album and the song itself is dealing with rape, murder, and the destruction of certain ancient societies, beliefs, and a particular philosophy and way of life. In the case of this particular video for 'The Hidden God', viewers will also find a sardonic sense of humor injected into the proceedings."
In addition to the release of these new videos and a late 2020 release of their newest studio album, Virgin Steele fans can next expect a series of video releases pertaining to the band's Gothic Voodoo Anthems LP, as well as the Ghost Harvest - Vintage I and Ghost Harvest - Vintage II LPs. Stay tuned for more details on all upcoming releases.
Las Vegas rockers OTHERWISE have released a Larry Hinson-directed music video for their song "Crossfire". The track is taken from the band's latest studio album, "Defy", which was released last November via Mascot Records, a division of Mascot Label Group.
For the "Crossfire" clip, OTHERWISE took to the streets to capture a picture of Las Vegas no one inhabiting the Earth thought they would ever witness. As the entire civilization across planet Earth navigates towards a better day, the band took the path of continuing to create in support of "Defy".
Singer Adrian Patrick comments: "One of the hardest things we've ever had to do, as performing artists, was cancel our 'Defy Division' tour [due to the coronavirus pandemic]. It's left us wondering how we'll be able to feed our families, if we'll still even have a career after this. We know that millions of others across the globe are facing the same dire prospect. Yet it's not just jobs and money that we are losing... people are fighting for their lives right now. The whole world has been caught in the Crossfire. We never thought we'd live to see the heartbreaking day when the bright lights and dancing fountains are turned off in the Neon Desert. But we are all in this together so let's keep our heads down low and hopes up high, for humanity. This pandemic doesn't discriminate... and neither does rock and roll. Stay safe, stay home, stay strong."
OTHERWISE was formed by Sin City-born brothers Adrian (lead vocals) and Ryan Patrick (guitar, vocals), on a diet of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, THIRD EYE BLIND and FAITH NO MORE, with Tony Carboney (bass, vocals), and Brian Medeiros (drums) completing the lineup. The quartet have also previously enlisted high-profile friends in Ash Costello (NEW YEARS DAY) on "Heaven" from their 2012 label debut and Jonathan Davis (KORN) on 2017's "Sleeping Lions". Adrian Patrick also featured on IN THIS MOMENT's 2010 song "The Promise", the band's highest-charting single to date.
On "Defy", they linked up with producer Matt Good (ASKING ALEXANDRIA, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD) for the first time, commuting from Las Vegas to his Phoenix studio in order to cut these eleven tracks.
BBC Radio 1's SLIPKNOT documentary "Slipknot Unmasked: All Out Life", which was previously only available on Radio 1's channel on iPlayer, has now been uploaded to YouTube and can be viewed in its entirety below.
"Slipknot Unmasked: All Out Life" is described as "a unique and fascinating insight into the career and controversies of one of the most successful and contentious heavy metal bands of all time: SLIPKNOT. The film combines new interviews, backstage access and an exclusive live session from the nine-piece group, performing six career-defining tracks at the legendary Maida Vale Studios in front of an intimate audience. The six tracks, one from each of the band's albums, transport the group, acknowledged by many as one of the most extreme live acts ever, from their usual arena-sized shows to a uniquely intimate and intense setting. The film highlights the group's phenomenal 25-year career, revealing how one of the most relentless and intense-sounding groups ever have struggled with drink, drugs, depression and the death of a band member, topped the charts, outsold their peers and picked up a Grammy along the way, whilst staying as bold, fearless and exhilarating as ever."
Last month, SLIPKNOT postponed its previously announced tour of Asia, including the band's two-day Knotfest Japan festival, because of "global health concerns" amid the spread of coronavirus.
SLIPKNOT spent the last year touring in support of its latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which came out in August. The disc sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Furthermore, the album made an impact worldwide with No. 1 debuts in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Japan, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal and Finland, as well as Top 5 debuts in Germany, France, Norway, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain and New Zealand.
"We Are Not Your Kind"'s sales in the U.S. were boosted by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with SLIPKNOT's summer 2019 tour.
Chris Cornell's 15-year-old daughter Toni Cornell performed an acoustic cover version of TEMPLE OF THE DOG's "Hunger Strike" from her father's home studio during LiveXLive's "Music Lives" global digital music festival, which is being held April 17-19. Check out video of her appearance below.
In August 2017, Toni Cornell joined the band ONEREPUBLIC onstage on ABC's "Good Morning America" to perform the Leonard Cohen song "Hallelujah". The performance was a celebration the lives of Chris Cornell and late LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington, both of whom died within months of each other.
Chris Cornell was found hanged in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel in May 2017, following a SOUNDGARDEN show at the city's Fox Theatre. His body was found soon after he had spoken with a "slurred" voice to his wife, Vicky Cornell, by phone. The death was ruled a suicide.
But his family has questioned the medical examiner's ruling, saying that he had a prescription for Ativan and that a higher than recommended dosage may have caused him to experience suicidal thoughts.

Their first step to Rock’n’Roll World Domitation is the new single "Driving In Style" accompanied by an highly entertaining videoclip bursting with energy. Partying hard combined with finest hard rock, this truly is not easy – but THUNDERMOTHER knows how to deliver and they master that walk on a tightrope perfectly, don’t you think? One of the most iconic names in modern blues music, Joe Bonamassa is back with highly anticipated new music from his studio recordings at the legendary Abbey Road Studio in London. The surprise single "A Conversation With Alice" arrives today via J&R Adventures, along with a special music video showing him in the studio recording the track. The video will premiere at 3 p.m. EST on YouTube and Facebook, where Bonamassa will be hosting an exclusive live chat. "Alice", as it turns out, is the alias of a therapist that Bonamassa spoke with about some reoccurring problems he'd been facing in life but found that these "problems" ultimately led to his success.
In an intimate video from self-quarantine, Bonamassa shares: "The song is derived by an experience I had a couple years ago when some friends of mine intervened and said, 'You know what, Joe? You should go ahead and talk to someone about these problems you have that come up time and time again.' So, I agreed. I went to see this lovely woman in Los Angeles, California and began talking about my problems. After the second session, I came to the conclusion that I was unrepairable and that the crazy in me makes me good at my job. I like being good at my job."
He quips: "I think I'm good at my job, unless you ask the Internet. Which then there's some debate, which bolsters the crazy. See how it's all interrelated? So, I wrote a song about it." Bonamassa ends the video with a comforting smile and a sincere wish to fans, "I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening, be safe and be happy."
Bonamassa also divulges that the song is part of a brand-new album coming sometime later this year, though details of the title and release date are still under wraps. Fans and critics alike will be on the lookout for what's next from America's favorite blues-rock artist. In the meantime, while in quarantine, Bonamassa has taken to social media to give a special behind-the-scenes look at his "Nerdville" home in California. In prior months, Bonamassa was touring relentlessly, up until coronavirus took its hold on the music industry, stopping him just short of a few final dates on his spring tour in the U.S.
"A Conversation With Alice" also follows Bonamassa's recent instrumental side project called THE SLEEP EAZYS, which released its critically acclaimed debut album, "Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell", just last week. The album, which the Associated Press touted as making "instrumental dreams," was produced by Bonamassa and features some of his frequent collaborators, along with his all-star touring band. THE SLEEP EAZYS project is Joe's second time in the studio as a producer, after Reese Wynans' long-awaited debut solo album "Sweet Release". The producer role is one that Joe takes very seriously and thoroughly enjoys. More projects are currently in the works!
"Alice" and THE SLEEP EAZYS follow a string of other successful collaborative ventures, including the adventurous side projects BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, ROCK CANDY FUNK PARTY and Beth Hart. Collectively, Bonamassa has over 40 albums to date and the announcement of "A Conversation With Alice" marks the first of new music from his solo studio record at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. His latest solo album, "Live At Sydney Opera House", marked his 22nd #1 album on the Billboard Blues chart, an incredible feat unparalleled within the music industry.

Napalm Records is the best label I can imagine to release the new Ektomorf album and to go new ways together with us.
"Napalm Events is very well established by now and I can't wait to go on a world tour again with the new album and play further countries. I am very thankful to my new manager Tom, he made this work out. We visited together the Napalm team in Berlin last week. We had very good conversations and a lot of fun. Judas Priest's British Steel album turned 40 last week, the band's sixth studio album was released on April 14, 1980 via Columbia Records. In celebration of the milestone, the band have released a brand new visualizer for the album track, "Rapid Fire". Check it out below:
Last week, the band released a new lyric video for "Breaking The Law", which can be seen below:
In celebration of British Steel's anniversary, Billboard released an interview with frontman Rob Halford and bassist Ian Hill. Read an excerpt from the feature below.
One aspect of British Steel that can't be overlooked is the striking album art from Polish artist Roslaw Szaybo, who had previously created artwork for Priest's Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Hell Bent For Leather, and later, the UK cover for Point Of Entry. The close-up photo of a hand holding a razor blade bearing the band's name and album title was featured on t-shirts and posters, and it was even paid homage to in an early '00s ad from Absolut Vodka.
"He was brilliant and a fantastic guy," Halford says of Szaybo. "He passed away recently. A very important man in that role, especially with British Steel - it's become iconic and been used by many other sources outside the music industry."
The singer fondly recalls how the band worked with Szaybo, the painter, photographer and cover designer who also designed covers for the likes of Miles Davis, Elton John, The Clash, Leonard Cohen and Janis Joplin. "In some instances, we had an idea for a title," says Halford. "In some instances, we didn't. We really just got down to the office and looked through what he got. I think with British Steel we did have a suggestion. It played on the punk reference with the way that the punk movement had the razor blades and safety pins and stuff. We played on that and also played with the actual razor blade being part of the steel manufacturing industry, albeit a very small one. It was important. Originally, he had all the blood pouring off the fingers." (That later became the cover concept for the 30th anniversary reissue of the album.)
"We told him: We don't want to do that. We want to show you that metal is so strong we don't bleed," chuckles Halford. "So he very kindly made that adjustment. A terrific illustrator and cover designer. He was one of a kind, that's for sure."
Judas Priest have issued the following message in regards to their upcoming touring plans:
"Hi everyone, As you may already know many of the European festivals are being postponed due to COVID-19 - we will post a more detailed statement regarding touring when we have all the facts and information you need... Our fans health and safety will always come first."
In the clip below, Warrant guitarist Erik Turner and his son Noah perform another quarantine acoustic song. This time it's "You Should See Me In A Crown" by Billie Eilish.
Madison Lane, the daughter of late Warrant frontman Jani Lane, has recorded a cover of the band's song "Stronger Now", taken from the group's 1995 album, Untraphobic. She has issued the following message via Bandcamp, where the song is available. Check out the player at the bottom of the page.
Madison: "I was asked to sing at the UNC Kenan Flagler graduation ceremony on behalf of the Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship this coming May, and I was honored, excited, and nervous. The song I chose was one my favorite songs of my dad’s called “Stronger Now”. At the time, I felt that it related well to all of us enduring the ups and downs of becoming adults throughout college and learning to navigate this crazy life—a bittersweet ode to end our college experience.
Unfortunately, this pandemic halted my ability to not only perform this song, but for us to even have a graduation ceremony, to do all of our 'lasts' before graduating, to go on the many trips we all had planned. In essence, this has brought immense change to our lives, but it’s up to us to make the most of this and come out on the other side stronger, rather than let it consume us.
In light of this, I feel more obligated than ever to release this song. Art and music are forms of expression that are timeless, dependable, and allow us to come together, to be inspired, to escape from what’s overwhelming us, and to see things from a different perspective. As a society, we’re having to dig deep and get uncomfortable in order to combat this virus, but once this is finally over, we’ll be so much stronger.
All of the proceeds will go towards Nourish NC to provide meals for the children that are being impacted by the coronavirus right now."

Lancaster, Pennsylvania rockers FROM ASHES TO NEW have released the official music video for their new single, "Panic", from their forthcoming album of the same name.
The "Panic" clip was made just as the novel coronavirus was taking hold of the U.S. The shoot was done in Rochester, New York in the last days before quarantine. "It was a race against the clock to get it all together," explained vocalist/rapper Matt Brandyberry. "Our director ended up losing employees because they didn't want to put themselves at risk, which is understandable. They had to scrounge up some crew members to get it together and we had to travel to get a hotel that was willing to let us stay there and we had to find places that were open for us to eat. Overall, it was a difficult scenario. It was almost like a 'Book Of Eli' post-apocalyptic situation where it was like fend for yourself."
The story of FROM ASHES TO NEW is truly that of pursuing a dream regardless of the obstacles that may arise.
The band's debut album, "Day One", earned the band a Top 10 track at Active Rock radio with the single "Through It All". They bettered that number on the next album, "The Future", with a No. 2 track, "Crazy".
FROM ASHES TO NEW consists of Brandyberry, guitarist Lance Dowdle, vocalist Danny Case, and drummer Mat Madiro (ex-TRIVIUM).
All-Canadian cover band Toque has just issued a live video for "Never Enough For You" - their first original song. "Never Enough For You" appears on Toque's second album, Never Enough, which was released in 2019.
During these unprecedented times of social distancing, quarantine, and isolation due to the global COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, Todd Kerns, Brent Fitz, Cory Churko, and Shane Gaalaas remind and encourage you to Stay Home, Stay Safe.
Vocalist Joey Tempest and keyboardist Mic Michaeli of Swedish hard rockers EUROPE have recorded a new, acoustic version of "Walk The Earth", the title track of the band's latest album. All proceeds generated from views and sharing of the song will be given to a charity close to EUROPE's hearts, Médecins Sans Frontières – Doctors Without Borders, to assist with their fight against coronavirus.
Tempest stated about the clip: "In these times of hardship for all of us, We would like to present to you a video of the title track from the last EUROPE album, 'Walk The Earth', recorded acoustically at home with all proceeds generated from views and sharing to be given to a charity close to our hearts Médecins Sans Frontières – Doctors Without Borders, to assist with their fight against Coronavirus.
"It was a natural choice for us to support Médecins Sans Frontières. They do such outstanding work on the frontline in over 70 countries around the world.
"We also feel that the song 'Walk The Earth' is well suited for these circumstances. Although performed in a more somber way, we feel the song still carries the basic human message of survival, spirit and perseverance in this very troubled age.
"I asked Mic to record a new version on his piano in Stockholm. He emailed it to me and I recorded the vocal in my home studio in London. It was an interesting way of working and we may look at doing something else in the future, perhaps with the other members of the band.
"We hope that as many people as possible will view and share this video and we will donate all funds generated to MSF. You can of course donate directly, just visit Médecins Sans Frontières at https://www.msf.org

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has uploaded video footage from the rehearsal sessions for METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett's second annual Fear FestEvil, which was held in April 2015 in San Jose, California. The four-minute clip, which can be seen below, features Benante, Hammett and ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 jamming on a cover version of BLACK SABBATH's "Supernaut".
Benante wrote in a caption: "A Fun BLACK SABBATH Jam on the song SUPERNAUT! this was recorded during Kirk Hammett's Fear FestEvil, I love these 2."
In an interview with U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, Benante named SABBATH's 1972 LP "Vol. 4" as one of the 10 records that changed his life.
He said: "My next door neighbor would play it outside constantly. 'Vol. 4' was always played — all the time. I swear, I knew those songs like the back of my hand.
"Coming from a Catholic upbringing, there was a record store about 15 minutes away from us, and me and my friends used to always go to this place — called Records And Stuff," he continued. "And they used to sell these iron-on shirts. I remember coming home with this BLACK SABBATH shirt that had '666' on it, and my mom freaked out and made me take it back! She would not have it in the house."
Canadian tech-metal punk act PROTEST THE HERO has unveiled the first single, "The Canary", from its upcoming studio album "Palimpsest", due on June 19 via Spinefarm Records.
The single, named after Amelia Earhart's bright yellow bi-plane, is inspired by the American aviation pioneer, who was the first female flyer to cross the Atlantic solo.
The 10-song "Palimpsest" marks PROTEST THE HERO's first new material since the "Pacific Myth" EP, which was made available through a subscription series in late 2015 and given a physical release the following year.
The recording of "Palimpsest" was delayed by vocal issues experienced by PROTEST THE HERO singer Rody Walker, who needed about a year to recover before completing the album last November.
"'Palimpsest' is by far the most challenging record we have worked on," said guitarist Luke Hoskin. "The writing and recording process saw so many delays, it's honestly hard to keep them straight. We are very proud of how each hurdle was handled though, and the end result is a record that we believe is deserving of such an endeavor."
"This record was extremely difficult for me personally," Walker added. "With my first child on the way, I built a studio in my basement to ensure I wasn't leaving my wife alone with a new child for weeks on end. I haven't left my house since."
He continued: "What made it most difficult was the change in my voice. During our final tour just before we were set to start recording, I blew my voice out, and it didn't come back. I spent a long time fighting with it trying to bounce back and failing. Finally, through coaching and rehearsal, I got it back in shape. For the first time in my life singing felt like an actual job and I'm still pissed about it. I have never worked harder to put out music in my life and I am extremely proud of the product."
