OF MICE & MEN will release is new album, "Defy", on January 19, 2018 via Rise Records. The disc will mark OF MICE & MEN's first full-length release without vocalist Austin Carlile, who left the group due to his ongoing battle with Marfan syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that afflicts the connective tissue holding the body's cells, organs and tissue together. Handling lead vocals in the band now is bassist Aaron Pauley.
The official video for the disc's new single, "Warzone", can be seen below. The clip lives up to the song's explosive combination of metallic insurgency and irresistible hooks.

Those songs have clocked over seven million Spotify streams and five million YouTube/VEVO views in six months. Both tracks were recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson (IN FLAMES, ALL THAT REMAINS), mixed by Grammy winner Chris Lord-Alge (DEFTONES, MUSE) and mastered by Chris Athens (DRAKE, OZZY OSBOURNE).

Carlile originally left OF MICE & MEN in 2010 after his doctor forbade him from touring to undergo heart surgery tied to complications with Marfan Syndrome. He returned in 2011, but his ailments didn't cease, forcing him to exit the band for the second, and presumably final, time at the end of last year.
An OF MICE & MEN documentary called "Unbreakable" was released on October 13. The short film, which was directed by Johann Ramos, follows the band across multiple continents on their tour earlier this year.
American metal band The Element released a video for the song “Dusk”, which is the first single from their upcoming album From Sand – Part II. The album is being produced and mixed by one of the greatest heavy metal producers nowadays, the Swede Jens Bogren, who was in charge of the production of albums from Arch Enemy, Symphony X, Angra, Pain of Salvation, Katatonia, DragonForce, Paradise Lost, James Labrie and Devin Townshend. In charge of mastering will be Tony Lindgren, both from Fascination Street Studios.
The band's new video was produced by renowned director Tommy Merry, a specialist in horror movies who brought a tense and dark atmosphere to the video that follow the track's intense and heavy beat, which will please fans of Prog Metal and of bands such as Symphony X, Evergrey and Mastodon, as well as those who enjoy the thrashier side of bands like Megadeth and Metallica.
"Dusk" was filmed at the legendary Soundwave Studios in Oakland (California), known for being active since the early days of the Bay Area thrash metal scene, where several prominent bands have been, such as The Cure, Metallica, Testament, Forbidden, Primus, Faith No More, Green Day, Machine Head, Exodus, Death Angel, and others.
The CD From Sand - Part II brings the sequel of the plot about characters Jared and Anne, a fiction work where Jared is a regular citizen and goes about life being tormented by a mystical being, not knowing if said being is real or only imaginary. On "Dusk", Jared begins his intense journey to find Anne and uncover the mysteries that surround his mind, and during the track, he does find out she is real and discovers the reason of his quest.
Along with the video, The Element has also released the song “Dusk” on the best digital platforms such as iTunes, Google Play, Beats, Amazon, CD Baby, Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora and others.
Black Absinthe's powerful heavy riffs and bass lines are reminiscent of classic thrash and new wave British heavy metal with a range of progressive to classic rock influence. Canadian metal veterans ANNIHILATOR have released a music video for the song "For The Demented". The track is the title cut of the band's sixteenth studio album, which was released on November 3 via Neverland Music/Silver Lining Music. The effort was made available in a limited-edition digipack with lenticular cover, a jewel-case CD, a twelve-inch 180-gram colored vinyl in gatefold and digital download. "It was time to analyze what a lot of fans over the years have kept telling me," says Waters. "It was time to sit down and figure out 'why' ANNIHILATOR's early 'thrash-meets-melodic' caught the ears of so many and to try to sweep the 'fan' part of my writing/playing/singing out the door and welcome back the mostly original Waters writing that was to be the first four ANNIHILATOR albums." Waters didn't venture back alone while looking back through ANNIHILATOR's history. "I was well aware that trying to re-capture the past usually fails, or at least won't come close," he says. "So, I decided to bring in fresh ears, both musically and physically with Rich Hinks, my bassist for the last few years. And doing most all of the records by myself, including writing and playing most all on my own, as well as mixing, mastering, engineering, etc… well, it can become routine and can often hinder you from being objective and more creative. "Rich came in and co-wrote the music with me, as well as co-produced the beginning stages of the record. His background of classic thrash metal meets a newer 'math' metal style was the perfect combination for me to simply ask, 'What do you think of this?' He would most-often reply with 'not the ANNIHILATOR style I like,' so we would keep going until we both felt that core ANNIHILATOR riffing and writing style presented itself."
Jeff continues: "Bottom line, 'For The Demented' captures some feel from ANNIHILATOR's 1985-87 demos mixed with the first four ANNIHILATOR records. Back to the thrash-meets-melody but with some pure Waters guitar riffing, upgraded lead guitar shredding and vocals back to the demo days meets the 'King of The Kill' record. Lyrically, I placed a theme on the record: the human mind and all of its glory, complexity, diversity, weaknesses and insanity! Pretty much the craziness of the music is matched by the lyrics. "I think metal fans are going to hear much of what they have been waiting for from ANNIHILATOR," adds Waters. Since 1989, ANNIHILATOR have not stopped putting out records and touring the world. Despite the ever-changing climate of the metal world (and releasing a series of "different" metal records with various lineups along the way), Waters and company have consistently delivered strong albums since the band's debut, "Alice In Hell". Then there was 1990's best-selling "Never, Neverland", 1995's "King Of The Kill", "Schizo Deluxe" in 2005 and many other critically acclaimed releases up until "Suicide Society". The "under-the-radar" influence of this band, and Waters, has been felt throughout the entire realm of the metal world by a ton of well-known musicians and bands; that influence even stretching into the hard rock and instrumentalist genre. New York City rockers, Station, have premiered their latest single, "Never Enough”, along with an accompanying music video, which can be seen below.
"I'm really proud of this song," says guitarist Chris Lane about the new single. "We've played it live a handful of times, but it really took shape in the studio. I think the process for recording this song really showed us what we can do in the studio and new ways we can create."
Adds singer Pat Kearney, "The response for the video has been amazing. Within a day, our video was shared and posted on rock blogs all around the world. Within hours of releasing the video, we were seeing new fans engage us in places like South America and Europe. It was surreal."

We‘ve always wanted this special song to have a visual representation and we knew immediately that if we ever could realize this project, the man for it would be our favorite artist Costin Chioreanu. Without any guidelines, he has managed to capture the atmosphere perfectly. The video really shows what was inside Anna's head when she wrote the lyrics and recorded the first demo in the middle of the night. CELLAR DARLING just returned from its mostly sold-out tour with DELAIN and is preparing to embark on another extensive tour with LACUNA COIL.
When asked about the biggest challenges facing CELLAR DARLING since the band's conception, Anna told AAA Backstage: "There haven't really been many, as everything kind of fell into place and happened naturally. For us, writing the album was actually quite an easy task because we had so many ideas and so much output. But, of course, there were struggles within the realm of real life. Financially, we obviously weren't having a great time since we lost our main job in ELUVEITIE and thus didn't have any money. We're trying to get our real lives back on track, but creative things are so great and that's more important so I would say we're facing the challenges we have very well."
Murphy went on to say that "some" of these struggles are reflected in the lyrics of CELLAR DARLING's debut album. "Everyone's always subconsciously inspired by what they’re going through, but with CELLAR DARLING, I don't really want to convey what I am currently feeling or currently experiencing," she said. "I want to take those feelings and make stories out of them — completely new stories and abstract poems, so I think it would be pretty hard to tell what is going on in our lives.
"A lot of our songs deal with the end of something, like an apocalypse or a death," she continued. "It kind of represents what is going on with us because something very important ended and something very new started. You can definitely interpret some of that in our lyrics.
"When I write lyrics, it's similar to when I'm writing melodies and songs — it all just comes to me. I don't sit there and have something in mind. It's really interesting because looking at the album and listening to the songs, it's only after we realized what was going on in our lives that we started to interpret out own songs." Two-time Grammy Award-winning, acclaimed singer-songwriter and SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan today shared a new music video for "Aeronaut", off his critically acclaimed new solo album, "Ogilala".
The clip is a 2D preview of a forthcoming immersive virtuality reality experience for "Ogilala". The video was created inside a 3D world that was imagined by San Francisco artist and filmmaker Danny Bittman and brought to life by the joint Viacom NEXT and Isobar team. By capturing Corgan's three-and-a-half-minute performance in volumetric video at Microsoft's Mixed Reality Capture Studios, Isobar, Viacom and Bittman were able to use the Unity creation engine and Tilt Brush to create a world around him. The project is designed for room scale systems, initially for Microsoft's Mixed Reality headsets, with additional versions for other systems to follow. It will be available to the public in early 2018.

"Ogilala" was released on October 13 and is available via BMG. The album, produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at Shangri La studios in Malibu, California, presents Corgan's distinctive vocals and melodies across a sparse, but rich palette of acoustic guitar, piano, and strings.
Last month, Corgan premiered "Pillbox", a silent film set to the music of the album with four sold-out screenings in London, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. "Pillbox" was written by Corgan, and directed by Corgan alongside longtime collaborator Linda Strawberry. Corgan treated fans to early listen of the album, premiering it a week ahead of release on NPR First Listen.
This weekend, Corgan will wrap his North American solo acoustic tour with a sold-out four-night stint at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. These intimate performances will see Corgan perform songs from "Ogilala", as well as a second set which will span works from his earliest days through his years as the frontman of SMASHING PUMPKINS and beyond.

Sweet recently told That Drummer Guy about "Unified": "This album, to me, sounds a little bit more focused. It's a little bit more raw and in your face. The first album was a little more slick, had a little bit more production and effects and things going on and more tracks, too. This album doesn't have as many tracks. It's a little bit more scaled-down and bare bones, but I think it works. I really do. We experimented a little bit more. Like the song 'Walk', George sent me that. I went 'Wow, this is cool. I don't know what to do with it, but it's really cool.' It sounds like if you merged AEROSMITH and QUEEN, STRYPER and DOKKEN together, you're going to get 'Walk'. It's kinda cool."
Regarding the increased diversity of the songs found on "Unified", Sweet said: "That's all you can hope and pray for when you make an album. That people are going to connect with it and they're going to get it. Sometimes it doesn't happen. Sometimes a band makes an album that they feel is the best album of their career and the fans just don't get it. It's happened with us. We made a couple of albums that we were really excited about and they got released and they didn't do so well. It's probably happened with anything. It's really nice to see and hear the band be so excited and the fans and the critics seem to be equally as excited about that album as well. So far, that's the result of this album. I'm hearing a lot of good things. I think it's going to be a winner, man. I do. Granted, we're limited because of the times we live in. Rock isn't at the top of the charts. It's a struggle, it's a battle, it's a fight for bands from our era and for us to go out there and get it out to the masses and do it the right way, it's very tough. But man, we're still trying. We still love what we do. Hopefully that shows."
Speaking about the work put into the creation of "Unified", Michael said: "We were all, our hearts and our souls and our bodies to the core were completely into this album. We put everything we had into this album and gave our all. We all wanted it to be the best. There's no doubt, you're right on the money with that. You know, it's just again, it's hit-or-miss, especially when you start experimenting. When you start trying different things, as an artist, you have to do that and have the freedom to do that. That's what makes some of the best bands in history so good because they took the risk and they experimented and they did something really unique. We tried a little bit of that on this album. Like I said, songs like 'Walk', there's a song called 'Afterlife'. For typical, what people expect to hear from George and Michael, collectively or individually, that ain't it. Those are the songs people are going to listen to and go 'Oh wow, this is different' for them. It really is. We enjoyed doing that. It was a lot of fun."

Pink Cream 69 was founded in 1987 by singer Andi Deris, guitarist Alfred Koffler, drummer Kosta Zafiriou, who were later joined by bassist Dennis Ward. Deris left the band in 1994 and after auditioning various singers was replaced by Englishman David Readman.

Italian progressive rock/metal band, Klogr, have premiered their new video for “Technocracy”, taken from their new studio album. Keystone. This version of “Technocracy” is a special remix with both the song and video featuring Prong's Art Cruz on drums.
The video was directed and edited by Roberto Zampa, and can be seen below. It's also been confirmed that Art Cruz is to be Klogr's guest drummer for their upcoming European tour with The Rasmus.

"Self Pollution", the new video from former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman, can be seen below. The clip was directed by London-based photographer Jimmy Cheng.
Friedman says: "This video is the first to feature my live band, with Kiyoshi on bass, Chargee on drums and Jordan Ziff on guitar. These guys (and girl) outshine me every night on tour. The video is loosely based on some of the fun ways you can pollute yourself (hence the title) and takes you from serenity to a chaotic climax, just like real life does sometimes."
"Self Pollution" is taken from Friedman's latest solo album, "Wall Of Sound", which was released on August 4 via Prosthetic Records. Produced by Friedman, engineered by Paul Fig (GHOST, RUSH, ALICE IN CHAINS) and mixed by Jens Bogren (KREATOR, OPETH, SEPULTURA), the disc "expands and destroys any conventional notions of instrumental music," according to a press release. Legendary QUEEN producer Mack came on board to handle the mixing on two tracks, "Streetlight" and "For A Friend", which Friedman proclaimed was "an honor for me, for sure."
Marty's new CD was recorded in part at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in California with engineer Paul Fig (ALICE IN CHAINS, RUSH, DEFTONES) and was previously described by Friedman as "a way more intense version" of its predecessor: "deeper, sadder, happier and more aggressive."
Like "Inferno", Friedman's new album features several guests, including prog-thrashers MUTOID MAN, Jørgen Munkeby of the Norwegian avant-garde jazz-metal outfit SHINING and Jinxx of Los Angeles theatrical rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES.
Regarding how the collaboration with Jinxx came about, Friedman told Guitar World: "I'm a big fan of Jinxx and BLACK VEIL BRIDES. He came to my show in L.A. in 2015. Right after that, I was told that he plays violin. I didn't even know that! Then light bulbs went off. I thought now's the chance to really turn some heads by doing something that's a little bit, well, a lot, unexpected to my fans and his fans."
The official video for "Toadcrucifier - R.I.P.P.E.R.", a brand new song from the cult U.K. doom/sludge outfit IRON MONKEY, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's first new full-length in almost two decades, "9-13", which was released on October 20 via Relapse Records.
After disbanding in 1999 due to the death of their original singer J.P. Morrow, the group has reformed for phase two of their mission.
Recorded in IRON MONKEY's hometown of Nottingham in spring 2017 with producer Johnny A. Carter, "9-13" is nine songs and forty-eight minutes of total nihilism. Now older, more cynical and more isolationist, the band is back to usurp the scene, then crush its skull.
Without question IRON MONKEY's most focused, aggressive and direct material to date, "9-13" is an all-out assault of violent hatred and nightmarish negativity — recommended listening for fans of pain, suffering, and misanthropy.

Heavily influenced by the nihilistic sound of groups like EYEHATEGOD, BUZZOV*EN, FLOOR and GRIEF, IRON MONKEY originally formed in Nottingham, England in 1994 and released two full-lengths (1997's self-titled debut and 1998's "Our Problem"), a live album and a split with CHURCH OF MISERY before splitting in 1999. Now, almost two decades later, the band has decided to reform as a trio with co-founding members S. Watson on bass and J. Rushby on guitar/vocals. They're rounded out by new member S. Briggs (CHAOS U.K.,) who also played with original IRON MONKEY vocalist J.P. Morrow in the short-lived sludge supergroup MY WAR.
Minneapolis, MN-based progressive/technical death metal group Reaping Asmodeia dropped their Prosthetic Records release, Impuritize, in February of this year.
Reaping Asmodeia is back on the spookiest day of the year with their equally-thrilling new Arlo Myren-directed music video for "Irreversible Evolution". In the video, we see a man following clues to a remote destination, but things quickly take an unexpected, frantic turn.
In a group statement, the band offers: "We love incorporating different styles and dynamics throughout our music, as well as in our music videos. We have continued that theme in our new video for the song 'Irreversible Evolution', which you can check out today."

"What Doesn't Kill You", the new video from VANDENBERG'S MOONKINGS, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's sophomore album, simply titled "MK II", which will be released on November 3 via the Mascot Label Group.
"What Doesn't Kill You" is a call to action; combining a hypnotic melody, soaring chorus and a timelessness that evokes a sense of empowerment and determination. You will prevail, you will be strong, you will get through this it cries to you; "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, you're a survivor, your mind set to carry on," proclaims Jan Hoving as you are whipped up into a captivating whirlwind of infectious hooks into a journey of self-belief. Talking about the song and video, Adrian Vandenberg says: "In this video, the lyrics, the powerful music and the expressive performance of the band call for images and symbolism just as powerful. All these elements reinforce each other in order to get the message across. The owl, the wise creature of the night and as such the talisman of MOONKINGS, breaks free of the confinement of the band logo and flies unhindered over cities like New York, Paris, London and Los Angeles to eventually circle around the Statue of Liberty. Nighttime fireworks symbolize the celebration of freedom and the determination to survive, no matter what goes on in the world."
Four years after Adrian Vandenberg made a spectacular comeback with VANDENBERG'S MOONKINGS, the band returns with "MK II". The disc has all the qualities of the debut: once again the four-piece band manages to create a perfect mix of vintage seventies hard rock and current styles of heavy rock. Adrian Vandenberg shines as a bonafide guitar virtuoso, while the rest of the band also delivers in spades. Yet "MK II" has even more to offer than the highly praised first album. It shows how the band grew into a strong unit during the world tours of the recent years. "The last few years have been very important indeed," confirms Adrian Vandenberg, who previously gained world fame as the guitarist and songwriter of VANDENBERG and WHITESNAKE. "We just got to know each other when we recorded out debut album. I think we all exceeded each other's expectations. But you really get to know each other while on the road. It was then that I really became impressed by the abundance of energy that this band has. We tried to capture this on our new album. At the same time, we all grew individually. I am really amazed by the way Jan Hoving has grown even more in his role as a singer and as a frontman. I've played with the best bass players and drummers in my extensive career, but, with all respect, I dare to say that Sem Christoffel and drummer Mart Nijen Es form the best rhythm section I ever had the pleasure of working with." The comeback gets a worthy follow-up with "MK II". It was (partly) recorded in the famous Wisseloord Studio in Hilversum, Holland, where the band also worked on the debut album. Once again produced by Adrian Vandenberg, engineer/ soundmixer Ronald Prent used his magic again and the mastering was done by Darcy Proper. "The fantastic response to our debut received also gave us a major boost," said Adrian. "We felt confident to loosen things up quite a bit. Sem and Mart really go for it of at the end of 'The Fire'. Previously, I would have called for a fade-out in the mix, but this time we decided to keep it and put it on the record. It somehow reminded me of the '70s CREAM and LED ZEPPELIN jam sessions that nobody seems to do anymore these days. I allowed myself to rip all over the end section of 'If You Can't Handle The Heat'. I've always found that as a guitar player you should be able to tell a story in about twenty seconds, so this time it was great to break this rule for a change and let myself go completely. Never before in my career I have done this on an album. All in all, working on this album was a wonderful experience. The notorious 'second album syndrome' never reared its ugly head." The release of "MK II" will be supported with club tours and appearances on festivals worldwide. "I've been a professional musician for over forty years, but I am still as eager as I have always been and still have the feeling that I'm just getting started," added Adrian. "I am convinced that we have many good years ahead with this band."

"Roots" is taken from IN THIS MOMENT's latest album, "Ritual", which was released this past July by Atlantic Records in partnership with Roadrunner Records. The disc features a guest appearance from JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford on the song "Black Wedding".
"Ritual" was produced by IN THIS MOMENT's longtime collaborator — and multiple Grammy Award nominee — Kevin Churko (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, OZZY OSBOURNE).
Asked how the material from "Ritual" has been going over live, guitarist Chris Howorth told Fuel The Scene magazine: "The reception has been overwhelmingly good all across the board. It's kind of weird now… Because album sales are so different, with streams and everything, you don't really notice it, except for on the live front, you see the people showing up and singing the songs, and you know that they're getting it and hearing it. Otherwise, it's hard to kind of tell."
Added guitarist Randy Weitzel: "When we play a song for the first time, people are just sort of staring at you. But as tours go by, they start to get to know the lyrics and it livens up a little bit. So I think it's going pretty good."
