The cover artwork for "The Reprobate" is an excerpt of a huge painted piece by Paolo Girardi, who was responsible for the artwork of FIRESPAWN's debut album as well as records by BLACK BREATH, POWER TRIP, CHTHE'ILIST, MANILLA ROAD and many more.
Friberg told Decibel magazine about "The Reprobate": "Musically, it's way different [from the debut]. 'Shadow Realms' was, in a way, a try out, to explore our sound. In the beginning, we know how we wanted it to sound, but not really how to get there. As all new bands in the beginning, I guess. Nonetheless, I think we executed 'Shadow Realms' very well. It's an open fire, in-your-face kind of album. On 'The Reprobate', we have a found our sound in a whole new level and we know each other way better musically also. There is also more thought behind 'The Reprobate'. Vibe-wise, I think that people will feel that 'The Reprobate' is more grandiose. It's a bigger, faster, more evil album. You can compare the two like this. 'Shadow Realms' is mad doctor slicing you up while 'The Reprobate' is a grand coliseum with gladiators and carnivores slicing you up. They are both spot-on, but they are creepy in different ways."
Added Brandt: "To me, it is a natural step. A progress and continuation both as a band as an album. Some parts of 'Shadow Realms' I had written about ten years earlier. I wrote the main riff in 'Necromance' in an apartment in London on a day off on a tour several years back. But some of those riffs and parts never became songs. I did not have anywhere to make use of them, really. So, in a way, 'Shadow Realms' took longer to write. 'The Reprobate' was a much faster process. We even had material ready before 'Shadow Realms' was released. And since we play live as much as we can, the live performance aspect was something we thought a lot about too. We now have a wider selection when we play live. Since we know what type of feeling or style of songs we felt we wanted to add to the live set, we made that happen with 'The Reprobate'. NOCTURNAL RITES previously announced plans to enter the studio in 2011 to record the follow-up to 2007's "The 8th Sin" album.
Guitarist Nils Norberg left NOCTURNAL RITES in June 2008 and was later replaced by Christoffer Rörland. As of 2012, Rörland became the new guitarist in SABATON, while his spot in NOCTURNAL RITES was taken over by Per Nilsson.
"The 8th Sin" in 2007 landed on the Japanese album chart at position No. 68 (No. 28 on "international" chart).
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's official music video for "The Last Song For My Resting Place" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's fourth album, "BCCIV", which was released on September 22 via Mascot Records. This is BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's first studio album since 2013's "Afterglow".
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION is the Anglo-American rock group comprising vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, TRAPEZE), drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, FOREIGNER), Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL) and blues-rock guitarist/vocalist Joe Bonamassa.

Speaking to myRockworld about some of the lyrical themes covered on "BCCIV", Hughes said: "All the songs were written with a topic — what kind of song we're gonna write musically, what kind of song am I gonna write lyrics about? This album is about walking through the fear, having faith, hope, the killing of dolphins, which I'm against, of course. Look for a big video on [that song, 'The Cove'] — a big video. 'Wanderlust', a song that was written about my travels and always returning home, always safe… to get back home to a safe place. 'The Crow', a very intense rock track written about the bird that watches over the band; it's really a great song about the Black Country. I wrote a song for my father when he passed away, called 'Love Remains'. The chorus was very, very sensitive, and it sounds like a song written for someone that had just passed. So it's a very personal song for me."
As for the track "The Last Song For My Resting Place", Hughes said: "[BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION guitarist] Joe [Bonamassa said to] me, 'Hey, I've got this idea about writing a song about the head violin player… or the leader of the orchestra on the Titanic, and I said, 'That's a really good idea.' So he wrote a lyric about the violin player — a great Joe song that needed to be, as always… I mean, I love Joe, I love Joe's voice and I love Joe's work — I really do love him. And I thought it was a great opportunity to show how versatile Joe is on this particular song. So I'm really happy for Joe."
Elsewhere, the basic idea for "Over My Head" came to Hughes in the middle of the night. "[My wife] hears me singing, [singing] 'Over my head.' And she said, 'Honey, what's that?' I said, 'I don't know, but I have to go and record it,'" Glenn recalled. "And I left the bedroom and I went, [singing], 'Over my head,' and I just wrote a song around that chorus, that very melodic chorus. And I came back to bed, and the idea was recorded. And that's the way I took it to Joe and we finished it together."
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's inception took place when Hughes and Bonamassa fused their styles on stage in Los Angeles in November 2009 for an explosive performance at Guitar Center's King Of The Blues event. With the help and guidance of Shirley, they further added to their rock lineage by recruiting Bonham and Sherinian.
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION has announced two exclusive concerts in Europe during January 2018 to support of "BCCIV". The band will play Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Tuesday, January 2 and London Hammersmith Apollo on Thursday, January 4. These will be the only two concerts the band will play in Europe.
Melbourne Australia's Earth Caller has signed with Entertainment One / Lifeblood, Inc. and released a brand new music video for their single, "Fall”. This is the band's first bit of music and music video we're seeing from their forthcoming LP.
"This song is about a bit of a messy break up I had and the process of how it came to unfold," says Earth Caller vocalist Josh Collard. Sweden's Kill The Kong from Västerås, Sweden will release their new album, Colossus, on November 24th via Gain / Sony. They recently released an official video for the song "The Antagonist". Check it out below.

Veil Of Maya have released a video for “Whistleblower”, a track from their new album, False Idol, out now via Sumerian Records. Watch the clip below, and order False Idol here.
The new album is a marked sonic evolution - it's more hypnotic, heavier, and hits harder than ever before. False Idol also encodes a curious narrative underneath a maelstrom of polyrhythmic guitars, sweeping vocals, and shuddering beats.
"The whole album is told from a first-person perspective", explains vocalist Lukas Magyar. "You're following this character, who's not the nicest person, and he rises to power. You'll have to listen to find out what happens - it's a very dark storyline."
"It felt more like we were making a movie or a TV series," guitarist Marc Okubo adds. "Lukas actually had a storyboard idea that we talked about before even starting. It's almost like we were providing the soundtrack in Veil Of Maya's template."
The seeds for this widescreen ambition can be traced back to 2015's Matriarch, which bowed at #2 on the Billboard US Hard Rock Chart and spawned the band's biggest hit to date in the form of “Mikasa” - the video racked up over 5.2 million YouTube views and 5.1 million Spotify streams.
The release of Matriarch saw Veil Of Maya hit the road with the likes of Animals As Leaders, Upon A Burning Body, Volumes, Chelsea Grin, Oceans Ate Alaska and other heavy hitters, as well as performing on the Vans Warped Tour. Then, in late 2016, the band headed to Los Angeles to record what would become False Idol. Marc Okubo worked with producer Max Schad in one studio, while Lukas Magyar teamed up with vocal producer Brandon Paddock in another.
"Working in two studios at the same time was a new approach for us," says Marc. "In the past, we completed all of the instrumentals for Lukas to then marinate on. Everything was done by the time he joined the band, but this is the first time we got to write with his voice in mind. And another change was that he was writing on the spot - it brought a different energy and ended up being really cool. Working with Max [Schad] made a big difference too."
The end product is a darker and heavier vibe, with first single “Overthrow” effortlessly moving from a crushing tidal wave of riffs into a soaring, striking clean refrain. It taps into the expansive energy of signature fan favourites, whilst elevating the group to a new level. In False Idol, Veil Of Maya have an album that crushes pulverising power with an unforgettable narrative in the landscape of their most definitive work to date.
"We wanted to create something fresh," Lukas explains. "We didn't recycle the same old thing. It's a new beginning."

Bibbi commented on the track: "To me this song sounds a little bit different, and I like that fact very much. Don't get me wrong, it is clearly a Skálmöld song, but somehow it's just ... fresh? Yeah, for a lack of a better word, let's go with fresh. I am also very happy about the lyrics, and the concept. The title translates to "The Hand That Scratches The Walls" and is written from a standpoint of a man who is caught with his family inside their burning farmhouse.
It might sound as a total cliché but I truly feel this is one of our best songs to date. And we totally need it since the Omnium Gatherum song on the flip side could easily make us look very bad in comparison. What a killer band they are!"

SONS OF APOLLO got together very organically, as Portnoy explains: "Derek and I reunited shortly after I left DREAM THEATER in 2010 and we put together an all-instrumental touring band with he and I, Billy Sheehan, and Tony MacAlpine. That was my first time working with Derek since the '90s when he was in DREAM THEATER and it was just great to be working with him again. Ever since that tour, which was really just a one-off live thing, he has been nudging me to start a real, original, full-time band. The timing just had never been right, because I had too many other things on my plate. Long story short, the time was finally right to take the bait and put together a band." "Mike and I work at a relentless pace in the studio," continues Sherinian. "The music is modern, but we have an old-school soul. What is unique about SONS OF APOLLO is that we have true rock 'n' roll swagger along with the virtuosity — a lethal combination!” But what to call the next great supergroup? "Derek was mainly the one behind the name," says Portnoy. "I have a list that I keep on my phone of about a hundred different band names, which I constantly have to refer to every time I have a new band every year. [Laughs] So, I pulled up the list and APOLLO was one of the names on the list. It was a word that both of us really liked. We started fiddling with different variations of the word. One of the original band names we were working with was APOLLO CREED, the character from the 'Rocky' movies, but after lots of different discussions on different variations, Derek suggested SONS OF APOLLO and it seemed to stick. Apollo is the God of music so with that in mind it seemed like a fitting name." Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian and Billy Sheehan previously toured together in 2012 and 2013 as PSMS (along with guitarist Tony MacAlpine), playing all instrumental versions from each of their previously recorded music. SONS OF APOLLO is the next logical progression by adding a vocalist and creating all-original material. The band incorporates the progressive style and individual technical prowess that Portnoy and Sherinian shared together in DREAM THEATER combined with the swagger and groove of VAN HALEN, DEEP PURPLE and LED ZEPPELIN. "I have known Mike and Derek for a long time, so when they came to me with SONS OF APOLLO, I jumped on this straight away," says Thomas Waber, label manager/A&R international of InsideOut Music. "However, the album they ended up recording exceeded my already high expectations by a long mile! We couldn't be happier about it!" SONS OF APOLLO will hit the road in 2018 for their first worldwide tour. "This is a real band," Portnoy declares. "This is going to pick up for me and Billy where THE WINERY DOGS left off, in terms of this being the next logical full-time thing for us. I'm not saying THE WINERY DOGS have broken up, because we haven't, we're just on a break. SONS OF APOLLO is absolutely going to be a full-time band and we plan on touring all over the world all throughout 2018 and, honestly, it is the priority for all five of us." HARDCORE SUPERSTAR singer Joakim "Jocke" Berg told World Metal Domination this past summer that "the energy level" during the band's live performances "is high because of the love for the music. I mean, sometimes we are tired like everybody else, but when you go up on that stage, something happens to your body," he explained. "I remember several times when I have been so tired or had a little to much to drink the day before and almost had to beg someone to drag me up on stage. But when the intro is on, something happens to your body; it feels like somebody slapping you in your face, and then you all of a sudden get your strength back and you become Superman!"
Hungary’s Angertea have released a video for the song “Seeds Of Hell”, featured on the band’s fifth album, Snakes In Blossom, available via Inverse Records. The animated video was created by Hungarian filmmaker Demeter Lorant, and is about the circulation of evil spirits on earth.
Snakes In Blossom was recorded in Szeged, Hungary at Black Hole Sound Studio, and Szentes, Murphy Studio. It was mixed and produced by Gábor Vári.

The song is taken from the band's latest album, "Deep Calleth Upon Deep", which was released on September 22 via Napalm Records. The disc was recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on SATYRICON's 2006 album, "Now, Diabolical").
SATYRICON frontman Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven stated about the video: "I wanted 'To Your Brethren In The Dark' to be a director's interpretation of the song rather than a band performance type of thing.
"Seeing what we do through the eyes of another artist is always interesting to me and just like the song, the video has become a little bit of a journey on its own.
"'To Your Brethren In The Dark' is definitely one of the flagship songs on the record. It is about emotion, our nature, the spirits, the autumn, the sombre and rainy days, those who we lost and the ones who we have not met yet. You could say it is a tribute to the sorrow in man and to the drama of the nature we surround ourselves with. A song for the dark towers of the past and those who will rise in the future. Pass the torch to your brethren in the dark."
The "Deep Calleth Upon Deep" front cover is an obscure drawing from 1898 by perhaps the greatest Norwegian artist of all time, Edvard Munch.
SATYRICON drummer Kjetil-Vidar "Frost" Haraldstad told "The Jasta Show" that "Deep Calleth Upon Deep" "is an album that we have been really working a lot with for a long time. It's all about getting the right expression for each and every song," he explained.
"It has never been anything that we've discussed in the band, but at least I personally feel that every song has a life of its own, a very strong and unique identity," he continued. "This album is really about giving life to those eight songs that constitute it.
"Like with every SATYRICON album, I guess it's very, very diverse, and this is more true than ever with the new one," he said. "In particular, when it comes to this identity bit, I feel the songs, even if they fit extremely well together in a compilation of songs, each and every one, it's very, very different from the others — almost like human beings are different from each other."
Austrian symphonic metal masters SERENITY will release a brand new full-length album, "Lionheart", on October 27 via Napalm. The disc was mixed and mastered by Jan Vacik at Dreamsound Studios. Gyula Havancsák at Hjules Design And Illustrations created the fantastic album artwork, which can be seen below.

SERENITY bassist Fabio D'Amore told Rock Arena about "Lionheart": "The producer is the same man behind our last past albums, Mr. Jan Vacik from Dreamsound Studios in Munich, also composer and keyboarder of the band SERIOUS BLACK. The album is talking about legacy and happenings of King Richard, as known as Lionheart. All lyrics are based on historical facts, but with the help of our imagination and intuition."
Regarding the production process for "Lionheart", Fabio said: "The most difficult process is always matching the schedules of all of us since we're not living close to each other, and the same for the studio activity. But it always works out well in the end. Everyone is bringing ideas, lyrics and full songs, including the producer Jan. We then select the songs we want to include after a long time process of sorting out, and then the working titles will be replaced with the final one, ones we decide the core of the message."

GWAR is set to return to "The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show" this Halloween (Tuesday, October 31). The band will perform two songs, including "I'll Be Your Monster". The show is hosted by Gary Dell'Abate and Jon Hein and airs at 11 a.m. EST on Howard 100 and Howard 101 on SiriusXM and repeats throughout the day.

"The Blood of Gods" is nothing less than a sacred text chronicling the rise of humanity against their makers, and the massive battle between GWAR and the forces of all that is uptight and wrong with the world. Along the way, the band challenges the sins of their great mistake, from politics, pollution, and organized religion, to fast food, and factory farming. Humans are shown as what they are; a parasitic disease that must be eradicated before they suck the planet dry.

Canadian metal veterans INFERNAL MAJESTY have released the official music video for the song "No God". Written, directed, produced and edited by vocalist Chris Bailey, this is the second video from the band's critically acclaimed new album, "No God", available from High Roller Records. The clip was filmed in Northumberland County, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Bailey says: "Some people enjoy nightmares."
Once again, INFERNAL MAJESTY went through some lineup changes before the new album was recorded: Eric Dubreuil (bass) and Kris DeBoer (drums) left and were replaced with two new members. Some may know new drummer Kiel Wilson from his time with Canadian melodic death metal outfit SEVERED SERENITY, while new bassist Daniel Nargang is actually the singer of the classic heavy metal outfit KICK AXE. They are joined by Bailey and guitarists Steve Terror and Ken Hallman.
"This is without a doubt the strongest we have been," Chris said. "We have no missing pieces now. No weak links."
It took the band a year to capture the amazing, heavy and dark, crisp and powerful sound of "No God". "We really worked on it day and night," Bailey explained. "Tweaking and modifying and receiving 3 a.m. phone calls saying, 'You got to hear this!' Steve, Ken and I wrote and produced the album. We believe that it's the ultimate way to express the band."
The beautiful sombre cover artwork, originally titled "Death Angel" or "Fallen Angel", was contributed by the exquisite and incredibly gifted artists Safir & Rifas.
What development does Chris see when he looks at "No God", both compared to the last effort, "One Who Points To Death", and when looking at it as the last link in a chain that runs from INFERNAL MAJESTY's legendary debut, "None Shall Defy", to "No God"? "It feels like we have come full circle and are now about to break free into orbit," Chris said. "I personally believe 'No God' to be our greatest works since 'None Shall Defy' was created."
