David Coverdale, the powerful voice behind Whitesnake and former Deep Purple frontman, sees his solo work shine brightly in a new collection featuring remixed, remastered, and revisited versions of his solo albums Whitesnake (1977), NorthWinds (1978), and Into The Light (2000).
Into The Light: The Solo Albums is available through Rhino Records as a 6CD boxed set. It comes packaged in a hardcover box featuring a 60-page book with rare photos, detailed liner notes, and a new interview with Coverdale. The newly remixed version of Into The Light is also available separately as a double vinyl album presented in a gatefold sleeve.

The boxed set features two versions of Coverdale’s solo albums: one newly remixed to deliver a more dynamic sonic experience and a second remastered from the original recordings for those who want to revisit the classic sound. The remixed versions feature significant updates (particularly to Whitesnake and NorthWinds) and utilize cutting-edge audio separation software. The track "Time & Again" from NorthWinds benefited from innovative voice extraction technology, allowing for new string and piano arrangements that Coverdale has envisioned for decades.
Coverdale shares, “The remixes are modern, using new technology to squeeze the best out of them… Truly exciting to revisit and take care of any technical ‘issues’ I had with the tracks all those years ago.”
Into The Light, Coverdale’s third solo album, boasts an impressive musical lineup that includes guitarists Earl Slick (David Bowie) and Doug Bossi, bassist Marco Mendoza (who later joined Whitesnake), legendary drummer Denny Carmassi (Montrose, Whitesnake), and keyboardist Mike Finningan (Jimi Hendrix). The remixed version of the album expands the original with songs like "Let’s Talk It Over" and "All The Time In The World". The collection also offers additional remixes, demos, and outtakes from the album, including "With All Of My Heart". Coverdale wrote the song for his wife and considers it one of the best he’s ever written.
The set also revisits NorthWinds, and Whitesnake Coverdale’s first two solo albums recorded immediately after leaving Deep Purple. Both albums have been reimagined and re-sequenced for the upcoming collection. NorthWinds includes some new arrangements and additional tracks like "Sweet Mistreater" and "Shame The Devil, Tell The Truth", breathing new life into this classic. Whitesnake features impossible remixes thanks to AI sound separation softwares, courtesy of technology that has only been available in the last couple of years.

Joe and Judy Norelli, founders of the Norelli Family Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation located in Central Florida, have announced the production of a new album of music for children. Released in August 2024 and nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Children's Music Album", "Solid Rock Revival" is a full-length studio album featuring performances and song remakes by the ROCK FOR CHILDREN band, headlined by legendary artist Alice Cooper, and featuring other well-known musicians including GUNS N' ROSES' Slash, JUDAS PRIEST's Rob Halford, and RUN DMC's Darryl "DMC" McDaniels. Proceeds from the sale of the album, as well as live concerts and special events, will benefit the Norelli Family Foundation and Alice Cooper's Solid Rock charity based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Cooper, along with his wife Sheryl, founded Solid Rock in 1995 with a mission to make an everlasting difference in the lives of teens in the community. Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Teen Centers inspire teens to discover their talent and achieve artistic excellence through music, dance, and the arts as well as vocational training in sound, lighting, staging, and fellowship, all in a safe, supervised facility. Alice Cooper's The Rock Teen Center Phoenix encompasses an auditorium, dance studio, computer lab and music rooms for guitar, drums, bass, and vocal lessons, a LeRoy Neiman art studio, Spanky's recording studio, and a video studio. A second location was opened in 2021 in Mesa, Arizona and the third location will soon open in Goodyear, Arizona. All programs are free for teens 12 to 20.
The Norelli Family Foundation provides support and assistance to children and young adults in need. Since its inception in 2013, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to help improve the lives of those most in need through partnerships with St. Jude Children's Hospital, Alice Cooper's Solid Rock, New Hope For Kids, Florida USA VB, The Colton Society, The Steve Azar St. Cecilia Foundation and the Sunshine State Kids.
Cooper is lending an exclusive remake of his classic 1970s hit "No More Mr. Nice Guy" to the album. Cooper has re-penned the lyrics and is calling it "Now I'm Mr. Nice Guy". Cooper also recorded "I'm Thirteen", "School's Out, No Bummer" and "Monster Mash". Halford provided lead vocals on "Pleasant Dreams" and DMC contributed to "In The Midday Hour". Slash provided guitar tracks for "Freewheelin'" — a playful duet with Alice and his daughter Calico Cooper. Grammy Award winner 123 Andres performed "Vamos Mis Amigos" and Radio Nube, the eight-and-ten-year-old-sisters rock duo and TikTok sensation from Mexico, recorded "Sugarrush". Additionally, staff and teens from The Rock Teen Centers were directly involved in the production of the album.

Executive producer/producer Joe Norelli teamed up with award-winning engineer, producer, and songwriter Ruben Salas and producer/artist and studio owner Dana Kamide to co-write, produce, and record the album's tracks. Norelli, along with the in-house production duo, oversaw the creation of several classic rock and 1970s remakes as well as new original songs for the album.
Salas is credited in multiple Grammy Award wins and nominations in several different music genres including children's music. He also holds a production credit with a Guinness Record for longest song. In addition to being a producer/artist and studio owner, Kamide is founder of Berliner Microphones and chief engineer of the highly acclaimed Berliner U77 Tube microphone. The U77 was hailed as one of the "Best New Microphones" and landed on the front cover of Pro Audio Review the year it was introduced.
"Music is a powerful tool for inspiration and learning," says Norelli. "We wanted to create an album that not only entertains children but also helps drive a positive and uplifting message. We believe that 'Solid Rock Revival' will do just that, and we're excited to share it with families everywhere."
"Solid Rock Revival" features 13 tracks and is available in various formats, including vinyl, digital download, and streaming. Educational resources to compliment the album, including lyric sheets, activity guides, and lesson plans, which are designed to enhance children's learning experience, will also be made available.

Established in 2017 as a way to give back to communities that have supported METALLICA over the years, All Within My Hands has raised over $15 million — providing $8.2 million in grants to career and technical education programs including the ground-breaking Metallica Scholars Initiative, now in its sixth year, over $3.6 million to combat food insecurity, more than $3.5 million to disaster relief efforts.
All Within My Hands was established by METALLICA to invest in the people and places that have supported the band. It also allows METALLICA's fans to engage in philanthropy and volunteerism. The Foundation is dedicated to creating sustainable communities through workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services. All expenses of the Foundation are covered by the band, the board, and a few special friends so that 100 percent of donations go to the organizations it supports. AWMH is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Last year, All Within My Hands donated a portion of all ticket sales from METALLICA's "M72" world tour back into the communities visited during each tour stop. In partnership with local promoters, the Foundation worked diligently to find organizations that aligned with the AWMH mission and actively put funds to use to better the lives of people in need.
The METALLICA family and the All Within My Hands foundation board members are committed to running an organization of the highest integrity where expenses are kept to a minimum and are paid for entirely by the band, the board, and friends who have worked with the band over many years and are excited to help in this mission. As such, 100% of all donations from fans and third parties go to the organizations AWMH supports.
In January 2022, METALLICA announced the appointment of Peter Delgrosso as executive director to All Within My Hands. Pete had served on AWMH advisory board since 2018 and is focused on the future of the foundation.
METALLICA's 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" compilation generated more than $1 million in donations. All the profits from the "Blacklist" project were divided evenly between All Within My Hands and charities chosen by the participating artists.
DOWN played the second of two Louisiana "pop-up" shows on June 21, 2024 at Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. DOWN is the long-running heavy metal supergroup featuring PANTERA's Philip H. Anselmo, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's Pepper Keenan, CROWBAR's Kirk Windstein and EYEHATEGOD's Jimmy Bower, along with bassist Pat Bruders.
DOWN played its rescheduled concert at Inn Of The Mountain Gods Resort And Casino in Mescalero, New Mexico on September 27. The band was originally supposed to perform at at Inn Of The Mountain Gods on June 20, but the show was called off due to a pair of rapidly growing wildfires which were converging on a village inside a tribal reservation in the state. As a result of the postponement, DOWN played two pop-up shows in Louisiana — on June 20 at Southport Hall in New Orleans and on June 21 at Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge.
When DOWN's concert at Inn Of The Mountain Gods Resort And Casino was first announced in April, the band said that Windstein would sit out the show due to his commitments with CROWBAR. Filling in for him at the June gigs was former DOWN guitarist Bobby Landgraf. Windstein was able to rejoin his DOWN bandmates for the rescheduled Inn Of The Mountain Gods Resort And Casino show.
DOWN will support DANZIG on a string of rare live concerts on the U.S. West Coast in late March 2025. Additional support on the trek, which will include cities DANZIG has not played in many years, will come from ABBATH and CRO-MAGS.
In a recent interview with That Metal Interview, Windstein spoke about the status of DOWN. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I've been in DOWN world [for the last few months] kinda, writing with DOWN and finishing up the writing for the album that's [gonna come] out next year at some point… We've got 10 new songs, man. It's awesome."
This past April, Windstein told Concrete Spew about the musical direction of the new DOWN material: "It just sounds like DOWN. I mean, it sounds refreshing because we haven't done it in so long, gotten together with me and the guys and done it in — fuck — 12 years or something. So it sounds like DOWN, I think, to me, it sounds more old-school DOWN. And the reason I say that is I think we got to a point where… Like, the 'NOLA' record is so simple, and it just wrote itself; it was so simple. And that's how this is coming about, which is great."
He continued: "We're not overthinking it. We're not trying to make things too complex. Phillip's not trying to write so many lyrics and things. We just kind of got away — I hate to say 'got away', 'cause anything we do is DOWN, but, to me, we kind of got a little bit… We needed to go back and look at each other and just go, 'Let's just get in a room and do it like we did from the beginning.' And that's what it feels like to me. It's very magical. The ideas and the working together, just bounce off of one another, it's a natural thing."
Prior to Southport Hall, DOWN's last concert took place in September 2022 at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Alton, Virginia.
DOWN made a handful of rare live appearances in the spring and summer of 2022. The band launched a three-date U.S. run of shows in May 2022 at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. After playing in Atlanta and Dallas immediately after Rockville, DOWN took a three-week break before regrouping for three European festival appearances in June. The aforementioned appearance at that year's Blue Ridge Rock Festival followed in September 2022.
In August 2021, DOWN took part in a very special in-person live and virtual experience. "NOLA Town Throwdown" was held at the Fillmore in New Orleans, Louisiana and featured fans attending the show in person as well as watching it in real time from the comfort of their living room.
In August 2020, DOWN celebrated the 25th anniversary of "NOLA" with a special livestreamed event. Dubbed "The Quarter Century Throwdown", the high-production, multi-camera event took place using cutting-edge streaming technology to create a one-of-a-kind virtual concert experience.
A founding member of DOWN, Windstein left the band in 2013 in order to focus on CROWBAR and his family life. He was replaced by Bobby Landgraf, DOWN's former guitar tech who was previously in GAHDZILLA MOTOR COMPANY, a 1990s outfit also featuring Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER),and HONKY.
Windstein announced his return to DOWN in 2019, with the band confirming a number of festival appearances for 2020 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "NOLA", all of which were later canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which swept the globe.
Prior to the August 2020 livestream, DOWN's last live appearance took place in August 2016 at the Psycho Las Vegas festival in Las Vegas.
The supergroup hasn't issued anything since the arrival of the "Down IV – Part Two" EP in May 2014.
"Down IV – Part Two" sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release in May 2014 to debut at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The band's previous EP, "Down IV Part I – The Purple EP", opened with around 12,000 units in September 2012 to land at No. 35.

Swedish singer songwriter Jonathan Hultén’s superb new single “Falling Mirages” is out now. It follows “Afterlife” as the second single to be released from his upcoming album Eyes Of The Living Night, out January 31 on Kscope.
Speaking on the new single, Hultén shared, “‘Falling Mirages’ addresses the dangers of miscommunication in relationships and the potential consequences of silence. By not speaking up and expressing what weighs on one's heart, unresolved tension builds up and eventually could make a bond so fragile that it could break by the weight of a feather. Yet if it were to fall apart, much like a house, the relation could be rebuilt if its foundation is solid, and might even be constructed to be sturdier than before. But, as with a house built on porous, unstable or sinking ground, a relationship lacking foundational stability will eventually and continually crumble, with each attempt to save it only prolonging the inevitable – a painful yet familiar realization many of us come to experience in life.”
Musically, "Falling Mirages" weaves together elements of acoustic folk, Manu Chao influences, the delicate sounds of a mechanical music box, and a lo-fi, carnival-esque fantasy soundtrack. Both through its music and lyrics, it tells a story of contemplation in the shadow of loss and resignation, yet offers a glimmer of hope on the horizon – depending on the perspective one takes.
Recorded at Stockholm’s Chanting Studios and co-produced with Ola Ersfjord (Lady Blackbird/Tribulation/Monolord), the new album Eyes Of The Living Night is a remarkable showcase of Hultén’s distinctive blend of folk, rock and pop, drawing influence from the likes of Bert Jansch, John Martyn and Nick Drake as well as contemporaries such as Anna Ternheim, Chelsea Wolfe and Hexvessel.
