THE AMITY AFFLICTION: Listen To New Song

THE AMITY AFFLICTION: Listen To New Song 'All F**ked Up'

Roadrunner recording group THE AMITY AFFLICTION has debuted the official lyric video for "All Fucked Up", the latest single its their highly anticipated new album, "This Could Be Heartbreak". The full-length disc arrives on Friday, August 12. THE AMITY AFFLICTION will celebrate "This Could Be Heartbreak" with a suitably epic world tour, highlighted by a North American headline trek this fall. The dates — which see the influential Australian band traveling with special guests including BEING AS AN OCEAN, HUNDRETH, TROPHY EYES and DEADSHIPS — get underway September 11 at the Grenada Theatre in Lawrence, Kansas and then continue through mid-October. Furthermore, THE AMITY AFFLICTION is set to perform at a range of upcoming summer festivals, including Denver, Colorado's High Elevation (September 10), Chester, Pennsylvania's Rock Allegiance (September 18), Fort Worth, Texas's Texas Mutiny (September 24), Houston, Texas's Houston Open Air (September 25), Louisville, Kentucky's Louder Than Life (October 1) and Janesville, Wisconcin's Sonic Boom (October 2). The North American tour dates follow an incredibly busy summer schedule for THE AMITY AFFLICTION. The band — which has just wrapped a successful European run highlighted by performances at such famed festivals as France's Hellfest and the U.K.'s legendary Download — recently announced a series of intimate Australian headline shows, all of which sold out in a matter of minutes. Deeply personal and emotionally wrenching, "This Could Be Heartbreak" is THE AMITY AFFLICTION's most transformative and revealing record yet. Recorded by producer and longtime collaborator Will Putney at Melbourne's Holes And Corners with additional drum tracking done at Sing Sing Studios, the album finds THE AMITY AFFLICTION evolving their signature powerful and cathartic song craft. Both ambitious and grand, album standouts "This Could Be Heartbreak" and "All Fucked Up" are equal parts heavy and hopeful, fueled by frontman Joel Birch's desperation which achieves extraordinary transcendence through radical honesty and absolute power. "This Could Be Heartbreak" track listing:

01. I Bring The Weather With Me02. This Could Be Heartbreak03. Nightmare04. Tearing Me Apart05. O.M.G.I.M.Y.06. All Fucked Up07. Fight My Regret08. Some Friends09. Wishbone10. Note To Self11. Blood In My Mouth

SAINT VITUS: Listen To

SAINT VITUS: Listen To 'White Stallions' From Upcoming 'Live Vol. 2' Album

The godfathers of American doom SAINT VITUS will release a new live album, "Live Vol. 2", on September 23 via Season Of Mist.

Another track from the effort, "White Stallions" can now be streamed below.

"Live Vol. 2" track listing:

01. War Is Our Destiny02. Look Behind You03. Let Them Fall04. The Bleeding Ground05. Patra (Petra)06. The Troll07. The Waste Of Time08. White Stallions09. Thirsty And Miserable10. Dying Inside11. Born Too Late

You can pre-order "Live Vol. 2" at this location.

From the very first guitar chords, that unmistakable frying, sizzling, and wailing signature sound of Dave Chandler as well as the trademark deeply resonant vocals of Scott "Wino" Weinrich, any adherent of classic doom metal will immediately know: this is SAINT VITUS.

Despite having been around for more than 35 years, the American heavy legends are only now getting ready to release their second official live album after the 1990 seminal "Live" record.

SAINT VITUS taped "Live Vol. 2" during the tour for their acclaimed comeback album, "Lillie: F-65" (2012), on March 19, 2013 at the Kulturfabrik in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. The album and tour marked the return of Weinrich. Out of respect for their vintage heritage, SAINT VITUS chose to preserve the raw and pure live sound without cleaning up and patching with overdubs. As a result, "Live Vol. 2" is a true live document.

Formed in 1979, SAINT VITUS were largely influenced by BLACK SABBATH, whose song "Saint Vitus Dance" obviously inspired the moniker. Since their debut album, "Saint Vitus", came out in 1984, the Americans have released seven more full-lengths and two EPs that are summarily considered to be classics of their genre.

"Live Vol. 2" will also be released as a special digipak edition containing a digisleeve as well as a triple gatefold vinyl, which are both strictly limited and will contain "Marbles In The Moshpit". This live recording from Ontario, Canada in December 1984 was previously available as a bootleg and on limited vinyl, and features the lineup Dave Chandler, Mark Adams, original singer Scott Reagers, and late drummer Armando Acosta, who sadly passed away in 2000.

"Live Vol. 2" recording lineup:

Dave Chandler: guitarScott "Wino" Weinrich: vocalsMark Adams: bassHenry Vasquez: drums

Drew Fortier: "ZEN FROM MARS has been our secret baby for a long time now. I am so relieved and excited to finally start getting it out there. A lot of thought has gone into this band and the release structure for the record will surely be very unique. Keep your eyes and ears peeled. This is only the beginning."

One year after the release of the debut album in September 2015, OPERATION: MINDCRIME continues in the spirit of the historic album of the same name, spawning concepts as grand as the music, and intertwining the intensity of the former QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist's iconic past with the provocative, progressive mindset that has made him one of music's most resolute forces and frontmen. FREYA Featuring Members Of EARTH CRISIS, SOILWORK, MEGADETH To Release Grim LP Via Fast Break! Records; “The Alchemist” Track Featured In Video Trailer

FREYA Featuring Members Of EARTH CRISIS, SOILWORK, MEGADETH To Release Grim LP Via Fast Break! Records; “The Alchemist” Track Featured In Video Trailer

Fast Break! Records has confirmed the label's first release for long-running Syracuse-based metal outfit, Freya, announcing the September unveiling of the band's Grim LP.

Fortified by the sidewinding winds and mercurial lakes of the land with the largest sinking mall, Freya stands as an immovable heavy metal monolith. Giant serpentine guitar riffs tightly coil around vast passages of tension and melody, creating the band's upcoming fifth studio full-length, Grim. Expanding upon the thematic scope of their previous release, Paragon Of The Crucible, their latest instalment derives inspiration from the historical origins of Grimm folktales.

Grizzled veteran founding frontman, Karl Buechner (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance) breathes life into these cautionary tales, delving deep into their macabre realities and the harsh circumstances of their genesis. Newly-recruited drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, Soilwork), the one-man stampede of savagery, lends his machine gun percussive virtuosity to the album, his complex timing and imagination a perfect complement to the diverse riff-work of guitarists Brendon Flynn and Thom Turner.

Grim was once again mixed and mastered by Jason "Jocko" Randall at More Sound Recording Studio in Syracuse, and features the intense graphic cover artwork by Freya’s Brendon Flynn. The album will be released through Pennsylvania's Fastbreak! Records on September 30th. See a trailer for Grim featuring the opening track "The Alchemist" below.

Grim tracklisting:

“The Alchemist”
“The Spectre Of The Plague”
“The Sentinel”
“Gnawing From Inside”
“Skeleton's Key”
“To Pyre With Them All”
“Hunter In The Dark”
“Swallowed Alive”
“To Burgeon Feathered Wings”
“The Silken Web”
“Eyes Of Malevolence”

Trailer:

Since 2001, Freya has crossed metal and hardcore audiences on stage and on record with a plethora of mind-expanding works, incorporating fantasy and reality with thunderous grooves. The band released their debut album, As The Last Light Drains, in 2003 through Victory Records, where they would remain signed for years to follow.

Their second release came in the form of a split with Hoods the following year. Their second album, Lift The Curse, saw release in 2007, and its follow-up All Hail The End in 2010. Each album saw the band elevate their songwriting and delivery to no sonic territory, and expanded their fanbase into new realms of the metal underground and mainstream.

2013's Paragon Of The Crucible, saw the band lashing out harder than ever, becoming the band's most lauded LP to date within the media and band's fanbase alike. Freya now prepares to deliver their finest works yet, with the writhing, concentrated, metallic wrath of Grim.

BRAINSTORM to re-release "Memorial Roots"

BRAINSTORM to re-release "Memorial Roots"

In the past few months, German power metallers BRAINSTORM have extensively "reworked" their 2009 album "Memorial Roots". The band's longtime engineer Achim Köhler was hired to do a complete "remix" of the album and for the first time ever now all tracks of the "Memorial Roots" sessions (besides the regular album songs there were different bonus tracks on the Digipak, Vinyl and Japanese pressing back then) are featured on this brand new release. "Memorial Roots (Re-Rooted)" comes as Digipak, out September 16th.

The band states:

"Seven years after the original release of "Memorial Roots", we are incredibly proud to finally heed the call of our fans and give one of our most important albums a total "makeover".
This album holds many memories, we love these songs and are confident that the "polishing" (completely new mix) makes this new edition of "Memorial Roots" a great experience for every BRAINSTORM fan.
Many "Memorial Roots" songs are part of our Live setlist ever since. Over the years we received a lot of fan feedback regarding this release especially. Many of you told us that you like the songs but overall wish the album to sound more powerful and aggressive.
For all BRAINSTORM members, being close to our fans is an integral part of what the band is about since day one.
And so we are more than happy to give you what you asked for:
in collaboration with our longtime-engineer Achim Köhler and our label AFM Records we took on this exciting project - to make the album sound like it deserves! "Memorial Roots" was a very important time for us; not only because it was the first release for the current line-up. We've toured Mexico for the first time back then, as well as many festivals in Europe and the US.

We love what we do and we do what we love. That's why we are so proud today to give you "Memorial Roots (Re-Rooted").
This one's for YOU... (and your neighbors)... SO PLAY IT LOUD!

Andy & Todde"

Exclusive: CHAINS OVER RAZORS Premier “Damnation” Music Video

Exclusive: CHAINS OVER RAZORS Premier “Damnation” Music Video

BraveWords is premiering the new video from Chains Over Razors. The track, “Damnation”, is featured on the band’s new album, Crown The Villain, and the video was directed by Michael Jacobs.

About the new video, the band states: “The video focuses on the grittiness of war. We as a society tend to view war through depicted events on television or photographs, but the reality is that we have become somewhat desensitized to the events of war. We sympathize during the events for many, but neglect to realize those who fought and are involved with these atrocious events are left in the dark with no support and care when they return. The song itself focuses on political disruption, stripped liberties, and a hero who returned from acts of war realizing that he was nothing more than an item utilized for a political party agenda.”

Few bands have come out straight out of the gate as heavy and hard-hitting as Chains Over Razors has on their debut album, Crown The Villain. And it's even more impressive to learn that the group creates such a mammoth sound as a three-piece, who will be hitting the stage three times in August - on the 10th in Elmhurst, NY (at Blackthorn 51), the 11th in Brooklyn, NY (at Saint Vitus), and the 12th in Liverpool, NY (at Sharkey’s Summer Stage). “Destructive and intense,” is how the band describes their live show. “No mercy, no forgiveness.”

Comprised of singer Franco "V" Roc, guitarist Mikey Vujasin, and drummer Andy Vujasin (the Vapor Brothers), the 12 track album was produced by rock legend Carmine Appice, released via Sweden Music Group. And the band has honed their live show by opening up for such renowned acts as Metal Allegiance, of which Franco said, “With a lineup of iconic musicians and being a huge fan of these guys growing up, it has been an honor.”

And despite two of its members being based in Chicago and one in Montreal, all are fully committed to the band, and will not let a little distance get in their way of success. And they certainly have the tunes to accomplish this, as heard by such ragers as "The Center Line of a Lie," "Devil's Eyes," and "Damnation."

Crown The Villain tracklisting:

“Center Line Of A Lie”
“2020 (Silence Of The Moonlight)”
“Damnation”
“Devil’s Eyes”
“Subtle Words”
“Live It Loud”
“Letters Of Twelve”
“Promises Of War”
“The Run”
“Monster”
“7 Years”
“Only God Can Judge Me”

“Devil’s Eyes”:

"An assault of pure madness," is how Franco describes COR's sound. "This record is a heavy hitting face smasher," adds Mikey. "I can't wait to get this record into the world's hands and perform these songs live." And lastly, Andy describes 'Crown the Villain' as "An adrenaline, frenzied, melodic hard rock album. The unexpected twists within the compositions progressively moves the songs forward to tell the story."

“We love playing New York,” adds Mikey about the upcoming shows. “We feed off of the energy the crowds give and we give back, they get rowdy! New York is very supportive to the rock/metal community. We look forward to our next run of shows on the east coast.”

Ever since the album’s recent release, metalheads worldwide have fallen under the spell of the brutal yet melodic sounds of Chains Over Razors.

Tour dates:

August
10 - Blackthorn 51 - Elmhurst, NY
11 - Saint Vitus - Brooklyn, NY (supporting Metal Allegiance)
12 - Sharkey’s Summer Stage - Liverpool, NY (supporting The Appice Brothers)

CRYSTAL BALL Premier “Déjà-Voodoo” Music Video

Crystal Ball have released a video for the title track of their new album, Déjà-Voodoo, which will be released on September 2nd via Massacre Records. The “Déjà-Voodoo” music video can be found below.

Déjà-Voodoo is the ninth studio album by the Swiss melodic metal gods. The expectations are high since their latest album LifeRider is widely considered as the band's best album so far.

"It was quite a challenge to deliver a high-class album within a year, but we're sure that Déjà-Voodoo will step it up a notch, both regarding the songwriting as well as the sound,” comments the band.

The cover artwork was designed by Thomas Ewerhard.

"The artwork is the perfect symbiosis between the terms déjà-vu and voodoo: Déjà-Voodoo! Our main character, a voodoo doll names Louis, is standing in the water, which mirrors him. The water is symbolic for the sub-consciousness here. Louis also wears the Crystal Ball LifeRider amulet around his neck, as a personal item. Why LOUIS? Well, keep your guesses coming!"

JIMI HENDRIX - Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 Out September 30th In Various Formats

JIMI HENDRIX - Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 Out September 30th In Various Formats

Experience Hendrix L.L.C. and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, are releasing Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69, fully documenting the debut performance of Jimi Hendrix’s short-lived but eternally influential Band Of Gypsys on September 30th. The group played four historic concerts at the Fillmore East in New York City – two on New Year’s Eve 1969, and two on New Year’s Day 1970. Never before has the first of these sets been available in its entirety. The vast majority of the performances have never seen the light of day in any configuration.

Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 was produced by Janie Hendrix, Eddie Kramer and John McDermott, the same team who have overseen all of Jimi Hendrix’s audio and audio visual releases by Experience Hendrix L.L.C. since 1995. Kramer served Jimi Hendrix as his primary recording engineer throughout his lifetime and the newly mixed Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 from the original 1” 8 track master tapes. The album was mastered by Grammy Award winner Bernie Grundman and will be simultaneously released, on CD, 2 LP 180 gram vinyl, high resolution SACD and digitally.

Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 marks the first ever Jimi Hendrix SACD and high resolution digital release. Additionally, Experience Hendrix is also releasing People, Hell & Angels on the same day. People, Hell & Angels, a collection of previously unreleased studio recordings, peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album chart in March 2013. The album features studio versions of many of the songs featured on Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69.

Over the course of four extraordinary years, Jimi Hendrix placed his indelible stamp upon popular music with breathtaking velocity.  Measured alongside his triumphs at Monterey Pop and Woodstock, Hendrix’s legendary Fillmore East concerts illustrated a critical turning point in a radiant career which boasted of indefinite possibilities.

The revolutionary impact Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, and Buddy Miles had upon the boundaries and definitions of rock, R&B, and funk can be traced to four concerts over the course of two evenings on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. These performances were first celebrated by Band Of Gypsys, which featured six songs from the two January 1, 1970 concerts including “Machine Gun,” the album’s dramatic centerpiece. Issued in April 1970, Band Of Gypsys challenged and surprised the guitarist’s wide following with its extended arrangements and vibrant mix of rock and soul. Nonetheless, the album proved to be a runaway commercial success and sadly, with his death in London in September 1970, would become the last album Jimi Hendrix personally authorized for release.

Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 documents the first of the group’s four legendary Fillmore East concerts. This set presents an assortment of fresh, exciting new songs such as “Earth Blues,” “Ezy Ryder,” “Stepping Stone,” “Burning Desire,” and “Machine Gun”—none of which had ever before been issued on disc. Moreover, nearly all of the group’s material had never been performed before an audience. “We decided that we couldn’t do any songs that had already been released,” explains Billy Cox. “We wanted to give them something different. So we went at the project in a joyous, creative posture and ultimately developed the repertoire of the Band of Gypsys.”

While promoter Bill Graham had advertised the concerts as ‘Jimi Hendrix: A Band Of Gypsys’, few could have anticipated what Hendrix had in store. “We had two shows New Years Eve and two shows New Years Day,” remembered Cox. “We didn’t know what to expect from the audience and the audience didn’t know what to expect from us, but from the time we hit that first note, they were in awe. You had Jimi Hendrix, a drummer who had been with the Electric Flag and Wilson Pickett, and I was the new kid on the block.”

With the anticipation of the sold out Fillmore audience heightened to fever pitch, Hendrix led his trio through a scintillating, seventy-five minute opening performance. None of the eleven songs presented had yet to grace an Experience album. In the place of signature songs like “Purple Haze” and “All Along The Watchtower” were confident renditions of “Power Of Soul” and “Hear My Train A Comin.’”

Jimi generously extended center stage to Buddy Miles, providing a showcase for “Changes” and a charged rendition of the Howard Tate R&B hit “Stop”. “We had rehearsed “Changes” and a few others for Buddy,” explains Cox. “All of the songs we performed had been rehearsed. We didn’t look at it as Buddy’s part of the show. We were all there to give. We were all there to help and material went on whether it was written by Jimi or not.  Former Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, who authored this collection’s liner notes, describes “Stop” as being something akin to “a psychedelic power-trio Temptations.” Hendrix’s scalding version of Elmore James’ “Bleeding Heart” is the set’s only other cover, underscoring the new band’s emphasis on the blues.

As the Fillmore audience roared with approval, the Band Of Gypsys left the stage confident that they had validated Jimi’s new music before his loyal followers. “After the gigs were finished, Jimi was quite relieved,” remembers Cox. “We felt the concerts went well. I might add that in previous gigs with the Experience he had used a fuzz face [tone control pedal] and a Wah-Wah pedal, then at Woodstock he used a fuzz face, Wah-Wah pedal and Uni-Vibe, but at the Fillmore East he used a fuzz face, Wah-Wah pedal, Uni-Vibe and Octavia and it was incredible. In fact you could hear all of it kicking in on ‘Machine Gun.’ It was incredible. There were people in the audience with their mouths open.”

“Machine Gun” stands as one of Hendrix’s finest and most influential compositions. Hendrix pushed Delta blues into places its pioneers could not have imagined, fusing his extraordinary instrumental skills within his passionate expression of man’s inhumanity to his fellow man. “Machine Gun” endures as a classic amongst the already classic-drenched Jimi Hendrix canon. Fricke notes of this version, the first that Hendrix and company had ever played in concert, “..Here it is, after 46 years, another revelation – a stunning essay in pain, rage and determined survival, fully formed in its initial outing.”

Long sought after by the guitarist’s worldwide following, Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 presents the complete performance in its original sequence.

Tracklisting:

“Power Of Soul”
“Lover Man”
“Hear My Train A Comin’”
“Changes”
“Izabella”
“Machine Gun”
“Stop”
“Ezy Ryder”
“Bleeding Heart”
“Earth Blues”
“Burning Desire”

Glory Road - Issued in 1980, at the height of the NWoBHM, Glory Road took Gillan to new levels of energy and success, cementing them as Top Of The Pops regulars. Classic British hard rock at its best.

For Gillan Fans Only - Originally issued as a limited edition bonus disc to 1980’s Glory Road, For Gillan Fans Only features b-sides, studio outtakes and specially recorded material, interspersed with quips and irrelevance, all showcasing the band’s creativity and humour. This also features the side project The Split Knee Loons.

Future Shock - Gillan’s 1981 album Future Shock saw these Reading Festival regulars at their lyrically most personal and diverse, taking on religion and the cold war. Aptly futuristic artwork encompassing a blistering cover of New Orleans, and No Laughing In Heaven an early rock meets rap chart hit.

Double Trouble - Gillan’s third album in 15 months saw this 1981 double album Double Trouble feature new guitarist Janick Gers (later of Iron Maiden), and a slightly more melodic approach. Two chart hits and a bonus disc of live material from the Reading Festival .

Magic - Magic, issued in 1982, was Gillan’s swansong before singer Ian joined Black Sabbath and then a reformed Deep Purple. There most melodic and underrated album, it featured the blistering Demon Driver and a cover of Stevie Wonder’s Living For The City. The catalogue ended on a high.

Watch MARILYN MANSON In

Watch MARILYN MANSON In 'Salem' Season 3 Trailer

A teaser trailer for third season of "Salem", starring shock rocker Marilyn Manson, is available below.

WGN America's original drama series will premiere Halloween week, Wednesday, November 2. The network also revealed a first-look photo of Manson, who portrays Thomas Dinley, a barber and surgeon who is the go-to man in Salem for everything from a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up.

"My character ends up being something that could be called the devil's advocate or the devil's best friend," said Manson, who also wrote the show's opening theme song "Cupid Carries A Gun" with composer Tyler Bates. The third season of "Salem" dawns with the triumph of the witches' plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital. But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself. And there's only one person on earth who can beat the devil — the very witch that birthed him, his mother, Mary Sibley. The only problem is — she's dead. Or is she? "Salem" stars Janet Montgomery ("Human Target", "Made in Jersey") as Mary Sibley, Shane West ("Nikita", "ER") as Captain John Alden, Seth Gabel ("Arrow", "Fringe") as Cotton Mather, Ashley Madekwe ("Revenge") as Tituba, Tamzin Merchant ("Jane Eyre") as Anne Hale, Elise Eberle ("The Astronaut Farmer") as Mercy Lewis, Iddo Goldberg ("Mob City") as Isaac Walton, Joe Doyle ("Raw") as Baron Sebastian Marburg, Oliver Bell ("The Saint") as Mary's son and Manson guest stars as Thomas Dinley. New this season is Samuel Roukin ("Turn") as The Sentinel. Created and written by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, "Salem" is executive produced by Braga, Simon, Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson and The Firm's Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.

BOBBY BLOTZER

BOBBY BLOTZER's RATT Parts Ways With Guitarist NICHOLAS 'BLAZE' BAUM

Bobby Blotzer's RATT has parted ways with guitarist Nicholas "Blaze" Baum.

Said Blotzer in a statement on Facebook: "While we are shocked and saddened by the events that led up to his departure and do not agree with the manner and time frame in which he chose to let us know, in that only giving us only two days for his replacement, we all can live with his decision to move on with his career and wish him the best in the future in country music."

He added: "RATT will, with great integrity, rear up on its back legs with its head high and come out to Sturgis at the Buffalo Chip in front of 35,000 fans this Thursday then Montana Rockin' The Rivers festival with 20,000 Friday kicking all kinds of ass as always."We know you understand that things don't always end up the way we'd like them to. But, know that we have high expectations and want that to translate to the stage with the best players as always."

The drummer has been touring the U.S. for the last few months with his own version of RATT, featuring several new members alongside bassist Robbie Crane, who previously played bass for RATT from 1996 to 2012 and appeared on the band's 1999 self-titled album and "Infestation".

Blotzer earlier in the month hinted at trouble in the RATT camp, telling ClassX Radio: "We are a great band, that's all I can say. I'm so proud of us, you know. But I also wanna see people having their act together on every level. That includes me, too. Nobody's immune from the… from what we've gotta do out there.

"I'm doing all the work behind the scenes, and these cats, all they've gotta do is show up and do their part," he added.

"They'd better grow up real quick here, because there's a lot of sailors out there that would give their leg to go out on this ship."

Blotzer also defended his decision to go out on tour as RATT without any other original members of the band, explaining that fans just want to hear the music performed the way it was recorded on the group's albums.

"No matter what, this band plays so good and does such great integrity to the music of RATT," he told ClassX Radio. "That's why everybody's been hired. It's been uncanny. Especially for the age of some of these guys. The lead guitar player, he just turned 22 about, I don't know, a half year ago or something, and he's amazing. He cops Warren's [DeMartini's] stuff amazingly. The singer just blows Stephen Pearcy out of the water at this day and age. And frankly, [he sounds better than Stephen did] even when we started out."

Blotzer also addressed the legal battle that is playing out between him and DeMartini over the rights to the RATT name, with the guitarist filing a lawsuit last fall claiming that the drummer was falsely advertising his "tribute band" as the real thing. That dispute is still pending in California state court.

"God bless Stephen and my other RATT cohorts," Blotzer said. "I mean, we made history; I recognize that, I appreciate it. We all wrote it together, wrote the music, rode the waves. But now, it's, like, okay, guys. There's three rafts left here. You're in or you're out. And it's been going on for five years. And I wanna finish the race. So that's where I'm at."

He continued: "I do not wanna insult anybody in the old-school RATT camp — I call it the class of '84 — but, you know, these guys were our own worst enemies. They're on a five-year strike thing that was going on between Juan Croucier [bass], who came back in after twenty years gone, and got Stephen riled up. And here we sat… last year was five years [that we were away from the road], [and] this would have been number six, and I was not willing to sit, as one of the owners of the name; DeMartini and myself own the name. And I'm, like, 'I've got a great band, Warren. Do you wanna come out and play with this band?' It'll be our band, obviously, but these are great. And he just didn't wanna have any part of it. So I said, 'I'm going out. I'm taking it out.'"

Despite the fact that he has not yet reached an agreement with DeMartini over his use of the RATT name, Blotzer predicted that the new version of the band would stay on the road for the foreseeable future. "We're booked through December 30 at this point, and they're already booking next year. So RATT is gonna be out there, man. The cast could change; it could stay the same. I don't know. It's like a football team. You want the team to win? You root for the team, 'cause you like the team. And we have a good team, and we have great songs, and we will perform those excellently."

Blotzer's revamped RATT also includes vocalist Josh Alan (ex-SIN CITY SINNERS) and guitarist Doc Ellis (Jizzy Pearl's LOVE/HATE).

Thank you for another great week of amazing shows, great times and great people. We are truly blessed to have everyone...

DEICIDE

DEICIDE's GLEN BENTON To SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR: 'F**king Blow Me'

Bassist/vocalist Glen Benton of Florida death metal veterans DEICIDE was interviewed on a recent edition of the "Talk Toomey" podcast. You can now listen to the chat using the widget below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On how he feels when he hears bands like SLIPKNOT crediting DEICIDE as an early musical influence:

"Not to fucking bust balls, but I'll bust balls. SLIPKNOT, 'Oh, dude, we're gonna take you guys out, man. We're gonna take you guys out, dude.'

"Yeah, blow me. That's what I say to you. Fucking blow me, Corey Taylor and all you f*gs. 'Oh, we're gonna take DEICIDE out on tour with us and blah blah,' blowing air up our asses, back in the day. And it's just, like, you know what?! You never did a fucking thing for us. You introduced us at a show once. Great, thanks. How about a fucking tour? How about fucking helping us out a little bit? I mean, we've only been doing this for so many years. These bands [are like], 'Dude, these guys are what got me started.' Well, you know what? Return the fucking favor. You know what I mean? And I see a lot of this, 'We don't want that kind of competition.' At least they know it.

"But you know how they get away with… This is how a lot of the bigger bands… this is how they get away with getting out of having you on a tour, 'cause they offer you a shitty amount of money, where it's virtually impossible to do it, so you end up declining or canceling or whatever the fuck, and then you look like the idiot. 'We offered you the tour. You can make t-shirt money.' Yeah, right. We've gotta at least make it so we can afford our transportation. You wanna stick us on a fucking city bus to the gigs?

"But I appreciate the fact that bands like that fucking mention us, and shit like that, and it's great. It's really awesome. Here's an idea: talk to one of these big-time promoters [into offering] DEICIDE a better position on a festival or putting us on one of these tours this year.

"I don't mind opening for these bands; I really don't. But I'm gonna fucking bring my 'A' game, and if I blow you away in the fucking process… whatever."

On DEICIDE's plans for the follow-up to 2013's "In The Minds Of Evil" album:

"Next month, September, we're gonna start tracking drums and guitars. And then I'll start writing lyrics. I'm already started on most of it now. I've got an album concept already, got the titles, maybe the possible title track and everything.

"Steve [Asheim, drums] wrote… I really lit a fire under him, man. Steve, he's responsible for writing a lot of our catchier shit, and I really lit a fire under him this time, and he wrote some really astounding shit this time — I mean, catchy-wise, riffing-wise.

"We're only taking the strongest material and putting it on this record. So it's gonna be pretty heavy, man."

"In The Minds Of Evil" sold 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Issued on November 25, 2013 via Century Media Records, the follow-up to 2011's "To Hell With God" was recorded at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER).

BLIND GUARDIAN To Release Live Album In 2018; Orchestral Album To Follow In 2019

BLIND GUARDIAN To Release Live Album In 2018; Orchestral Album To Follow In 2019

Alan Dixon of The Metal Voice conducted an interview with vocalist Hansi Kürsch of German power metallers BLIND GUARDIAN at this year's Heavy Montreal festival, which was held August 6-7 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On BLIND GUARDIAN's decision to perform its 1995 album "Imaginations From The Other Side" in its entirety on the band's upcoming North American tour with GRAVE DIGGER:

Hansi: "I was surprised myself. The point is we have toured for 'Beyond The Red Mirror' a long time now. We do, for the first time, the second leg of a North American tour. And we just thought, 'Well, what chances do we have to set up new songs in a proper way? because we didn't have any time. And since André [Olbrich, guitar] seemed to have a conceptual album tour in mind for a while, he came up with that resolution. And, yeah, I somehow liked the idea, and so did Marcus [Siepen, guitar]. And then we worked on it. And it appeared to us like the most attractive thing to do. Because people can be pretty sure that they are going to listen to different stuff in comparison to what they have heard last year, actually. And therefore it was a pretty good idea. We prepared a few more songs which we haven't played, so I would say 75 percent of the shows will be different to what we have done twelve months ago."

On why "Imaginations From The Other Side" was chosen over other albums:

Hansi: "It's a very successful album — maybe the second most successful album of BLIND GUARDIAN, just behind [1998's] 'Nightfall In Middle-Earth', I would say. There are still a lot of people liking that album most. And the main point for us is it is easier to prepare it than, for instance, 'Nightfall In Middle-Earth' or [2002's] 'A Night At The Opera'. 'A Night At The Opera' would be a nightmare, and I would say, 'Well, give me another six months, at least.' Well, apart from that, it's so intense. It has a vivid live feeling, and that's also different. You spoke about the orchestration and about the epicness of songs, and they contain a little bit of the epicness, but they are still on the thrashy side as well, and I believe that's, in a live situation, pretty good."

On where BLIND GUARDIAN can take its music next after 2015's "Beyond The Red Mirror" album:

Hansi: "[Producer] Charlie Bauerfeind was a great help there. We have had many, may ideas, but he, at a certain point, came up with the idea to drive things into a stronger direction even, into the orchestral direction, so that is where we would go next. And then it totally makes sense, because after that, we will have time to keep our focus on new dimensions which we could explore, but since the orchestral elements are so strong on 'Beyond The Red Mirror' already, I believe it will be a little easier for people to consume what we are doing with the orchestral album, because that's a plain orchestra with me singing. Typical BLIND GUARDIAN songs — you will immediately recognize that it's BLIND GUARDIAN, and it may be even easier to consume than 'Beyond The Red Mirror', because 'Beyond The Red Mirror' is very massive and very progressive while the next album, the orchestral album, will be very melodic, very intense, but classical intense."

On the upcoming orchestral album:

Hansi: "It's all new songs. We started with these songs when we did 'Nightfall In Middle-Earth'. We got the first two songs back then, and I was really pushing to have them on 'Nightfall', and [the other guys were] just, 'They don't fit. They are too special. So why not work on a whole album like that?' And I said, 'Yeah! Great idea! And we are going to release that five years from now.' 'Yeah, five years from now.' [Laughs] So twenty years later, we're still working on it. But composing-wise, we are almost working on the second album already."

On when he thinks the orchestral album will be released:

Hansi: "The orchestral album — I was wrong with that ever since 1998 — is going to be released in 2019. Because we recorded a lot of shows last year, and we are going to release a live album in 2018. [The live album] will be a double. We are still working on the songs in terms of choosing which songs to take from which city. I believe once we are back from North America in November, we are going to mix it."

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' FLEA Is More Afraid Of The NRA Than Terrorists

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea has continued to remark on current political issues, saying in a new interview with Hot Press that he fears the National Rifle Association (NRA) more than Muslim terrorists. Flea explained: "I'm definitely more afraid of the NRA than I am of any Muslim terrorist, that's for sure." Asked about the shootings in Dallas that left five police officers dead, Flea added: "It's just too sad to comprehend, really. Like, I think when somebody does something like that, they are so insane and so removed from love and the connection that we all are one. All religions, all people, all races, all ethnicities, we all are one."

He continued: "I know everyone knows this and you hear or see the hippie bumper sticker on a car, but when you don’t understand that, you really are sick, you know? It's a sickness and it's something that people have a little bit of sometimes and sometimes people have it a lot — to the point they want to kill people."

Flea took to Twitter last week to take actor/director Clint Eastwood to task for the latter's new Esquire interview, in which Eastwood called out the "pussy generation" for what he saw as too much political correctness.

The bassist wrote, "Hey Clint Eastwood count me in as a pussy as we aspire to evolve above racism."

The CHILI PEPPERS' eleventh studio album, "The Getaway", arrived in June and debuted at No. 1 around the world.

The band will tour Europe for the rest of the summer and fall. North American dates are expected to begin in early 2017.

LINKIN PARK

LINKIN PARK 'Didn't Take The Easy Way Out' On New Album, Says Guitarist

LINKIN PARK singer Mike Shinoda and guitarist Brad Delson posted a new podcast online late last week in which they answered questions submitted by fans and discussed the progress of the next LINKIN PARK album. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Shinoda said in response to a fan question that the biggest challenge of recording this new disc was that "we approached the process differently."

Delson added: "There's a certain amount of experimentation and failure, essentially trial and error that's baked into this process. We've made so many records and we clearly know how to make a record and we definitely didn't take the easy way out this time."

Delson continued: "The songs are shaping up so well, we just want them to be as phenomenal when we share them with you… as we imagine them in our heads."

Shinoda told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that LINKIN PARK is a very collaborative band. "Luckily in our band, we've got a situation where, whether we agree or disagree, we sit down and we talk it out and we approach it like adults, and we also put our egos to the side and somebody can tell you something that's difficult to say and it's difficult to hear," he said. "And we all know that we're all coming at it from the perspective of making the best thing that we can."

Shinoda and Delson also revealed in the podcast that LINKIN PARK has worked with outside songwriters on the new album, with Delson saying: "As much as we know how to approach songwriting, everybody does it differently so being able to like sit with someone and kind of pour ourselves into their process has been really exciting."

The yet-to-be-titled new LINKIN PARK album does not yet have a release date, but will follow up 2014's "The Hunting Party".

MESHIAAK Featuring Former SLAYER / TESTAMENT Drummer JON DETTE Streaming New Song “At The Edge Of The World”

MESHIAAK Featuring Former SLAYER / TESTAMENT Drummer JON DETTE Streaming New Song “At The Edge Of The World”

Meshiaak will release their debut album, Alliance Of Thieves, on August 19th via Mascot. The band are streaming the album track, “At The Edge Of The World”, which can be found below.

In a world where thrash has blended with metalcore, black metal, and NWOBHM, it’s hard justice a band of brothers has come together to champion songwriting, performance, and production this straightforward. Meshiaak bestows upon the scene an egregiously confident, “old soul” record that evokes the magic of Ride The Lightning, Rust In Peace, South Of Heaven and Burn My Eyes.

Formed in Melbourne, Australia by 4ARM’s Danny Camilleri and Teramaze’s Dean Wells, the band is rounded out by bassist Nick Walker and major rhythmic weapon Jon Dette (Iced Earth, Slayer, Testament).

Throughout the sonic and emotional peaks and valleys of this expertly paced and sequenced record, it becomes obvious that all four of these guys have spent a lifetime soaking in the best of metal music and woodshedding it outward onto tape. The listener comes away with rock-solid confidence in the band as stadium-level songwriters capable and worthy of anchoring... let’s call it the “next next four” somewhere down the line generationally speaking past the original eight to ten thrash bands that wrote and then executed this well.

Says the band: “This style of music gets you pumped up, and so we just want people to feel what we felt during the time that we wrote it. It’s exciting music and I think metalheads are really going to dig it. It’s the perfect soundtrack for punch-ups with your mates.”

Alliance Of Thieves tracklisting:

“Chronicles Of The Dead”
“It Burns At Both Ends”
“I Am Among You”
“Drowning, Fading, Falling”
“At The Edge Of The World”
“Last Breath Taken”
“Maniacal”
“Alliance Of Thieves”
“Death Of An Anthem”
