EMPYREAN Release “Judges” Lyric Video

EMPYREAN Release “Judges” Lyric Video

Progressive metal band, Empyrean, have released the John Spinney-directed lyric video for their djent influenced sophomore single "Judges". "Judges" was mixed by Jason Daggett and mastered by Kris Krummet.

““Judges” is written about a moment in time where I had a job that was extremely rough day after day. It's about the consequences of being "different" regardless of where you are. I realized not all consequences are direct, there is subtleties in this too. There is opportunities lost, being overlooked, and overruled, among other things that looking different cause. This doesn't stop in school, there is genuine discrimination no matter where you go or where you live. This song was about learning to deal with the weight of judgment for who I am.” - Jakoby Pierce (Lyrics/Vocals)

Catch Empyrean live at Tacoma Real Art with Misery Signals on July 29th.

TRICK OR TREAT Debut Music Video For "Never Say Goodbye" Featuring Sara Squadrani Of ANCIENT BARDS

TRICK OR TREAT Debut Music Video For "Never Say Goodbye" Featuring Sara Squadrani Of ANCIENT BARDS

Trick Or Treat will release their new album, Rabbits’ Hill Pt. 2, on July 8th. A new music video for “Never Say Goodbye”, which features guest vocalist Sara Squadrani of Ancient Bards, can be seen below:

Originally formed in 2002 as a Helloween tribute band, Trick Or Treat soon became a popular live attraction in their home country of Italy. After recording their first demo of original material, they were signed by an independent Italian label, Valery Records. In 2006 they released their first full-length album, entitled Evil Needs Candy Too, to critical acclaim. The band then spent the following two years on the road playing over 100 gigs in Europe and the USA. The band released their second album, Tin Soldiers in 2009.

Three years later, 2012 proved to be an important year for Trick Or Treat, firstly because singer Alessandro Conti was chosen by Luca Turilli's Rhapsody to be the lead singer on the album Ascending To Infinity and secondly, the band released their concept album Rabbits' Hill Pt.1, based on Richard Adams' novel Watership Down.

Four years on, the second chapter, Rabbit's Hill Pt. 2 is now finally finished and comes with the news of the band signing a worldwide, multi-album deal with Frontiers Music Srl. The recording sessions for the new album have been the longest the band has ever taken part in and the work with producer Simone Mularoni (DGM) captured all the intricate details of their take on power metal. For this album, the band added huge orchestrations and epic choirs mixed to their usual signature power metal sound, in order to sonically reflect all the epic adventures told through the lyrics. The musical vibes range from acoustic and melodic parts to darker, heavy metal anthems.

Once again on this new album, Trick Or Treat had the honour to work with great international guest musicians and friends like Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica, Sara Squadrani from Ancient Bards and, in the role of the evil general Woundwort, Tim "Ripper" Owen (ex-Judas Priest ex-Yngwie Malmsteen).

Frontman Alessandro Conti on the new album: "After a long time spent on the production of the new album, we can finally confirm the official release date and the last guest singer. In addition to our friends Sara Squadrani and Tim “Ripper” Owens, we're so happy and proud to have our friend Tony Kakko on Rabbit's Hill Pt. 2 is an incredible honor for us! These guests did an amazing job, helping us to capture the perfect atmosphere of the concept taken from Richard Adam's novel Watership Down.

“We are so happy about the final result of our new album and we are excited about the new partnership with Frontiers, one of the most important rock labels in the world! This is really a great moment for Trick Or Treat! So don't miss the new album!!"

KINGCROW Premier “If Only” Music Video

KINGCROW Premier “If Only” Music Video

Rome, Italy-based progressive metal sextet, Kingcrow, have released a video for the track “If Only”, featured on the band’s sixth full-length studio recording, Eidos, out now via Laser's Edge division, Sensory Records. Find the clip below.

Eidos is a conceptual album about choices, consequences, dealing with regret and disillusion. As their Phlegethon album dealt with childhood, and In Crescendo about the end of youth, Eidos can be considered the third part of a trilogy about the path of life. Musically it sees the band exploring new territories and pushing the extremes of its complex soundscape with a darker atmosphere and a more progressive attitude.

Eidos was recorded at Sound Under Pressure in Rome, with the production handled by Diego Cafolla and Thundra Cafolla. Several guest appearances help create the album's new atmospheres, including saxophone provided by Stefania Bentivoglio on the track, "Slow Down", and piano by Fred Colombo of Spheric Universe Experience for the track, "The Deeper Divide". Mixed by Giampiero Ulacco and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York, the stunning production of the album is matched by visionary artwork by Cristian Nastasi/Devilnax. With over an hour of new material, Eidos is the next logical progression in the evolution of Kingcrow, and will open the next doorway for whatever lies ahead.

TRIVIUM Bassist Is Optimistic About Where Streaming Will Take Music

TRIVIUM Bassist Is Optimistic About Where Streaming Will Take Music

Austria's Mulatschag TV recently conducted an interview with bassist Paolo Gregoletto of Florida metallers TRIVIUM. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about how streaming has changed the way an increasing number of people now listen to music and the way it has affected record sales, Paolo said: "We're already well on our way to doing pretty good on [the streaming] front, and I think it keeps growing.

"I just am really excited where the next ten years goes — not only for our band but for music.

"I'm on the optimistic side of where streaming is gonna take music.

"I feel like people… People are not just being turned into consumers and buying stuff; it's more about discovery, about becoming what I feel like musicians have, which is you have such a love for music and discovering new stuff and trying new things. It's shifting that mindset on to the people that buy and stream. Make them love music, make them passionate about discovering.

"I think things are gonna change big time and for the better.

"I'm glad that we could be a part of it and that we're on the forefront of where music is gonna go from here on out."

Paolo also talked about the way technological advancements have given consumers access to music from a variety of portals while making it harder than ever for artists to make a living directly off their music.

"There's a lot to work out; there's a lot of unknowns and fears about it," the bassist said. "But you have to kind of find your way through it. It's never been easy.

"I don't think being in music has ever been… There was never a point where it was, like, well, you could just become a musician and it was like having a 9-to-5 job. You've gotta put a lot in, and you're risking everything without any guarantee or any safety net.

"For me, it's, like, well, if we're gonna be in this, let's really take advantage of everything that's coming out — whether it's technology in music, anything."

TRIVIUM's latest album, "Silence In The Snow", was released on October 2, 2015 via Roadrunner. The follow-up to 2013's "Vengeance Falls" was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette (SLASH, ALTER BRIDGE, THE AMITY AFFLICTION) and was mixed by Josh Wilbur (GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD).

New TRIVIUM drummer Paul Wandtke made his live debut with the band on December 5, 2015 at Knotfest in Mexico.

AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Releases Title Track Of 'We're All Somebody From Somewhere' Solo Album

"We're All Somebody From Somewhere", the title track of the debut solo album from AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler, can be streamed below. The country-tinged album will arive on July 15 via Big Machine Label Group's Dot Records.

The AEROSMITH frontman appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and spoke about the album, explaining: "I headed down to Nashville last spring to start working on this project, wrote some kick-ass songs with some of Music City's finest songwriters and now we get to share them with the world on July 15th."

He added: "Country music is the new rock 'n' roll. It's not just about porches, dogs and kicking your boots up. It's a whole lot more. It's about being real."

Tyler co-produced "We're All Somebody From Somewhere" with such heavyweights as T Bone Burnett, Dan Huff, Marti Fredriksen and Jaren Johnston.

Tyler spoke about the strength of the new material, telling Rolling Stone: "I believe y'all are gonna listen to this stuff and you're gonna agree with me that it fell from a star. I had nothing to do with this shit, it's just Nashville. There's something so magical about this town and me writing with all these people."

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' 'The Getaway' Lands At No. 2 On U.S. Chart

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' eleventh studio album, "The Getaway", has topped the charts around the world. The heralded studio effort from the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees landed No. 2 on The Billboard Top 200, having shifted 118,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 23. "The Getaway" debuted at No. 1 in Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands and New Zealand, with No. 2 debuts in the United Kingdom and Germany. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS's music video for their current single, "Dark Necessities", can be seen below. The clip was directed by actress Olivia Wilde and features notable female long boarders Carmen Shafer, Amanda Caloia, Amanda Powell and Noelle Mulligan.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS frontman Anthony Kiedis stated about the band's decision to work with Wilde: "We received [her treatment] and it was very simple and it was about this dark and bruised side of these athletes, these female skateboard athletes and it was just easy and simple and we were trying to do simplicity." He added abut the experience: "I like it a lot. I like her a lot, I like the video a lot and I'd work with her again."

Wilde's only previous directing credit is a short film called "Free Hugs". Her acting resume includes roles on the TV series "Vinyl", "House" and "The O.C.", while her film credits include "The Lazarus Effect", "Her", "Tron: Legacy", "Rush", "The Change-Up", "Cowboys And Aliens" and many more.

CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea told The Pulse Of Radio that "Dark Necessities" almost didn't become the first single. "I mean, I knew that was a good song," he said. "There was another one that was gonna be the first single and then we… Like, we already told the record company, 'Okay, we're gonna do this one,' and then we changed our mind and went to 'Dark Necessities'. But I'm glad we went with it. What I like about this record is that every song really occupies its own space, the songs don't repeat themselves, and that one was a great song. It's dynamic and it just feels great to play, you know. It has a real pull to it."

SABATON: First

SABATON: First 'The Last Stand' Album Trailer

Swedish metallers SABATON will release their eighth studio album, "The Last Stand", on August 19 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2014's "Heroes" was once again produced by Peter Tägtgren (PAIN, LINDEMANN, HYPOCRISY) and it "marks a brand new chapter in SABATON history," according to a press release.

The first trailer for "The Last Stand" is available below.

SABATON bassist Pär Sundström previously stated about "The Last Stand": "We once again worked with Peter Tägtgren in his newly upgraded and top-class Abyss studio in Sweden to record, produce and mix the album. The mastering [was] done by Jonas Kjellgren who also works in the same building in nice Pärlby on the countryside of Sweden. Both 'Carolus Rex' and 'Heroes' were done in the same way and we [felt] very comfortable to return to the same place and people again. Fans will recognize the sound of the album as SABATON, but we really feel we took it a step forward this time."

The artwork for "The Last Stand" was created by Peter Sallaí, who has worked with SABATON since "Carolus Rex". Sundström explained: "We had the idea to make an image reflecting soldiers of different times representing the different historical battles we sing about on the new album. This only reveals a small part of the album topics though."

Stated SABATON vocalist Joakim Brodén: "The concept of a last stand has always fascinated me, and both me and Pär were 'all in excited' about the subject so it was an easy choice to make."

Added Sundström: "We have always several ideas for albums to work with. Since there are countless different views and angles of war, we will, unfortunately, never run out of ideas. We kinda felt that the last stand was something perfect for SABATON. Something we really wanted to do. 'Heroes' was a perfect theme and 'The Last Stand' is right down our alley too. It was exciting to do the research."

"The Last Stand" will be available in the following editions:

- CD+DVD-Digi (including a concert DVD)- CD- Box (including earbook, 2LP Pic, 12" photo card, 12" poster, three plectra)- 2LP (black, clear, gold, yellow/blue)- Special edition (SABATON tank + box)- Digital

Video: Estranged BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD Plays First Show With New Band DAY OF ERRORS

DAY OF ERRORS, the new three-piece band led by estranged BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward, made its live debut last night (Saturday, June 25) at Gaslamp in Long Beach, California.

Video footage of DAY OF ERRORS performing the song "Vacant Church" at the concert can be seen below.

The group, which was formed by Ward "in the desire to have my drumming spirit continue to live," also features Joe Amodea on guitar/vocals and Nick Diltz on bass/lead vocals.

Ward says: "We play loud, hard, with overtures of gut-kicking heavy, heavy parts."

DAY OF ERRORS lineup is:

Joe Amodea - Guitar/VocalsNick Diltz - Bass/Lead VocalsBill Ward - Drums/Vocals

Guest musicians:

Walter Earl - PercussionAron Ward - Keyboards

Ward was on board for the SABBATH reunion when it was first announced in November 2011, but backed out soon after. He later claimed that he sat out the recording and touring sessions because of unfair contractual terms, although the members of SABBATH have hinted in other interviews that he wasn't physically up to the task.

SABBATH has used singer Ozzy Osbourne's regular touring drummer Tommy Clufetos since then for live work. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Brad Wilk laid down the drum tracks on the band's comeback album, "13", which came out in June 2013.

It was rumored that SABBATH wanted to bring a second drummer on the road to share duties with Ward, which he allegedly balked at.

Asked in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine if he would be in shape right now to rejoin BLACK SABBATH, Ward responded: "Absolutely, yeah. I have no doubt in my mind. I know that they've suggested that I played half the gig, and I don't want to play half the gig. I'm quite capable of playing a complete fucking BLACK SABBATH set. So this health thing has been bandied around, and it's true that I have heart disease, and it's true that I did get sick a couple of years after the fact. But when the health card is being thrown around, the bottom line is that I really tried to take care of myself. Every day, I always look at the day and say, 'Could I have played a gig today no matter what's going on with me?' And the answer is always, 'Yes.' I'm much harder on me than those guys could ever be."

Ward in 2015 released his first solo album in 18 years. Titled "Accountable Beasts", the record can be purchased on iTunes.

Video: MÖTLEY CRÜE's MICK MARS Performs LED ZEPPELIN, JIMI HENDRIX Classics In Nashville

MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars joined Kenny Olsen on stage on June 23 at Ernie Ball Music Man Pickers' Paradise party at Mercy Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee to perform a couple of rock classics, including LED ZEPPELIN's "Rock And Roll" and "Hey Joe", written by Billy Roberts but popularized by Jimi Hendrix. Video footage of Mars's appearance can be seen below.

The Ernie Ball Music Man Pickers' Paradise party was part of the summer NAMM show, which s a musical instrument extravaganza, a gathering of the industry's top dealers who introduce their new products and organize star-studded events and concerts for the public to enjoy.

Mars earlier in the year released snippets of two new songs, apparently called "Gimme Blood" and "Shake The Cage". The tracks, which were recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, also feature former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer John Corabi, who was featured on the band's 1994 self-titled album.

Asked what he planned on doing after MÖTLEY CRÜE retired from touring, Mars told Edmonton, Alberta, Canada's 100.3 The Bear radio station: "A solo record. People have been asking me for that for years and years and years. And 'Why hasn't Mick written a book?' So that, of course, is gonna be in the works. I haven't started anything or figured out who I want to write with me, or help me write it. But doing that kind of a thing. Putting together, probably, a cool band with some cool friends of mine and stuff, and going out and doing some… you know, a few weeks here and a few weeks there, touring… but not as the MICK MARS BAND; I won't do that. [Laughs] You'll see, like, a name, and you'll go, 'Hey, who's that?' 'I don't know' That's the name of the band."

ROBERT TRUJILLO Had Fun Recording METALLICA

ROBERT TRUJILLO Had Fun Recording METALLICA's New Album

METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo spoke to So What!, the magazine of The Metallica Club (usually known as Metclub), the official METALLICA fan club, about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's long-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic" album. He said: "I can say James [Hetfield, METALLICA guitarist/vocalist] and I had a blast doing back-up vocals last week, it was probably the most fun I've had during this album cycle; I wouldn't even call that work. It was just super fun blasting out those choruses. He had a big smile on his face and so did I, so that's something that I'll always remember, because I don't think I've ever done it on that level. I mean, we've done a couple things here and there, but that was a first for me, to be in the vocal booth with him. It was pretty cool. So I feel great. The bass sounds are crushing. I would say they're the best bass sounds that I've had with this band, for sure, and already for me that's a plus. I'm very proud of what Greg [Fidelman, producer] has done with the sound of my instruments, and I'm also proud of the way I played. We've had fun."

Trujillo also talked about his role in METALLICA and whether Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich appreciate his work ethic and positive attitude. "I think so," he said. "I know it's important to James. I think there is a level of respect from him in knowing I'm staying on my game, so to speak, and that I'm happy. I think that's important to him that Robert Trujillo from METALLICA is happy with what he's doing as a musician, and that he's happy with what he's doing as a musician in METALLICA. But he also respects where I come from and what I did, and he likes the INFECTIOUS GROOVES music. He likes my style with that band. Not to say that that style specifically with the INFECTIOUS GROOVES is the style that's supposed to exist in METALLICA. No. It's not about that, he's more interested in celebrating what was good about SUICIDAL or INFECTIOUS in the same way Lars is. I think one of his favorite top ten albums quite possibly might be 'The Art Of Rebellion' by SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, you know? He turned me back on to that album, okay? I forgot about that record. And he was talking about the record, about this one song, and I didn't know what one he was talking about because it had been so long. And then he had Kent [Matcke, METALLICA engineer] put it on the PA system in the studio, and then I'm listening to it going, 'Oh, shit. Yeah, that is good.' All of a sudden, it's coming back to me. And then what's funny is, I'm driving home from the studio about an hour later and then I realize that I wrote the song. I didn't realize that it was actually a song that I'd written."

Trujillo also spoke about the level of care and attention to detail with which METALLICA approaches every project. "The thing about METALLICA is everything is top notch," he said. "There's always gonna be a focus on detail, and whether it's stage production or preparing a song, even a cover song. I mean, look at the nurturing process that happens with a cover song in the METALLICA universe. When we did the Ronnie James Dio 'Ronnie Rising' medley, you know? That composition to me encompasses the energy and the focus in developing and creatively collaborating jumping into what would be essentially a cover song, or a batch of cover songs. There's a lot of focus that goes into that, and I think that quality separates METALLICA from a lot of other bands."

He continued: "There's just a lot of… how do you say it… a lot of pride that goes into every note that is played, even on a cover song let alone an original. The other thing that I've learned with METALLICA too is, the band is not afraid to take chances. The Lou Reed album ['Lulu'] is a fine example. A lot of METALLICA fans didn't like that record. For us, it was a great learning experience, and there were a few magic moments in there. I mean, in my career as a musician for as long as I've been doing this, there were a couple of magic moments that I would never really be able to explain to a person who doesn't understand what happens when you're connected, and when musically there's a certain energy. And I always value that, I keep that close to my heart because there was magic. So the point is, whether it's playing with an orchestra or Lou Reed or whatever, the band takes chances and tries different things."

METALLICA's new album is currently being mixed for a tentative fall release.

ROSE TATTOO

ROSE TATTOO's ANGRY ANDERSON Would Have Considered Stepping In For BRIAN JOHNSON In AC/DC

ROSE TATTOO singer Angry Anderson says that he would have considered fronting AC/DC if he had been asked to step in for Brian Johnson on the Australian band's recent tour.

AC/DC postponed the last ten dates of its recent North American trek after Johnson was advised to stop playing live or "risk total hearing loss." The band has since completed the European leg of its tour with GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose as a "guest vocalist," with Johnson apparently not returning to the group.

Prior to Axl being announced as the new touring singer for AC/DC, many people felt that Angry Anderson, who has been fronting ROSE TATTOO since 1976, was a better choice to replace Johnson.

Asked by The Rockpit for his thoughts on the fact that he wasn't asked to step in for Brian, Anderson said: "I knew I wouldn't [be]. I thought it was obvious it would be Axl. The other singer I thought it may be would be Sammy Hagar."

Pressed on whether he would have "been on that plane" if he had gotten the call to sing for AC/DC, Anderson said: "Depends on what they were offering. Of course. Why wouldn't I?"

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian recently told Brazil's R7 that he thought the ROSE TATTOO singer would have been the best man for the AC/DC job. "I wish they would get Angry Anderson," he said. "I don't know if Angry Anderson is still even singing anymore. But I always thought, in 1980, he was the guy. I didn't know who Brian Johnson was yet, but I knew Angry Anderson in 1980, and when Bon died, I was hoping Angry Anderson was gonna join AC/DC, 'cause he was from Australia and he sounded like a guy who should be in AC/DC. But then Brian came and Brian was great. So who knows?"

Johnson had been AC/DC's frontman for 36 years, ever since replacing the late Bon Scott in 1980 and making his debut on the classic "Back In Black" album.

Rose will next join AC/DC for the ten North American shows that need to be made up starting in late August.

Watch BLACK SABBATH Perform At Denmark

Watch BLACK SABBATH Perform At Denmark's COPENHELL

Fan-filmed video footage of BLACK SABBATH's June 25 performance at the Copenhell festival in Copenhagen, Denmark can be seen below.

BLACK SABBATH has announced that it will play its last show ever in the U.S. on November 12 at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The gig will take place nearly five years to the day that the legendary act announced their reunion.

San Antonio is also home of the Alamo which is a significant place in Ozzy Osbourne's legend since he was arrested for public urination and intoxication at the landmark in February 1982. He revisited it and apologized, again, for his upcoming series on History.

The group has also added two more headlining shows to its North American trek, on November 8 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and November 10 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

These dates and the previously announced headlining slot at at the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest weekend event on Saturday, September 24 in San Bernardino, California come at the end of the band's North American tour, which kicks off on August 17 in Wantagh, New York.

SABBATH is currently on tour in Europe for a mix of summer headlining and festival performances. They will make their final visits to Mexico and South America at the end of the year as they wind down their farewell tour.

Bassist Geezer Butler told The Pulse Of Radio that it's a melancholy feeling visiting some countries for the last time. "It's sad, especially when we're in Australia or New Zealand, I was just thinking, 'I'm never gonna come to these places ever again,'" he said. "It's too far to go on holiday. But yeah, it is sad. It's like, you enjoy it."

SABBATH will bring its storied career to a close in the band's native England, with seven shows booked there in January and February. The last two, on February 2 and February 4, will take place in SABBATH's hometown of Birmingham and will likely be their final shows.

The original lineup of SABBATH came together in 1969 with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. That lineup recorded and toured through 1978, and periodically reformed through the '90s and 2000s for live work.

They regrouped again in late 2011 for a new album and tour, although Ward dropped out after just a few months. The remaining trio issued the "13" album in 2013 and backed it with a successful world tour — despite Iommi being treated for lymphoma since 2012.
