MASTODON, AT THE DRIVE-IN, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Members: 'Starlight' VideoThe official video for "Starlight", a brand new song from GONE IS GONE, the new project featuring MASTODON's Troy Sanders, AT THE DRIVE-IN's Tony Hajjar, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Troy Van Leeuwen and guitarist-keyboardist Mike Zarin, can be seen below. The track is featured on GONE IS GONE's self-titled debut record that will be released on July 8 via their imprint label Black Dune Records in partnership with Rise Records/BMG. Digital pre-orders are available now at iTunes and will include instant downloads of "Violescent" and "Starlight" and physical pre-orders of the limited edition vinyl EP are available now at GoneIsGone.merchnow.com. Says Sanders about "Starlight": "Facing adversity with magnitudes of willpower. Amassing strength to erase fear and fulfill all void with purpose. A story of survival mode. This one hits close to the heart." "Starlight" premiered Tuesday at Beats 1 Radio and is the second single from the band’s forthcoming debut EP. The video for the track was filmed in May 2016 at Pollution in Los Angeles and was directed by Raul Gonzo (†††, PVRIS). The band has also announced their first tour dates, which include shows in Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C. in July. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time at www.GoneIsGoneOfficial.com. GONE IS GONE tour dates:
July 7 - Los Angeles, CA - Teragram BallroomJuly 11 - New York, NY - Bowery BallroomJuly 12 - Washington, DC - Rock & Roll HotelJuly 13 - Brooklyn, NY - St. Vitus
What was once thought a distant idea is now reality. It began when members Tony Hajjar and Mike Zarin were writing music for film trailers and they realized they had created a sound that needed a life outside of that medium. It needed a band. Fast forward through some phone calls and drinks: Troy Van Leeuwen was in. The trio met and wrote an EP within the first several sessions, but were still in need of the right vocalist. Upon first listen, Troy Sanders understood the vision and flew to Los Angeles to write and record vocals on the spot.
In the interview with RollingStone.com, Tony Hajjar said: "GONE IS GONE is a project that can live even when we are working with our other entities as well. The goal is to be able to compose remotely, if needed, on film, trailers, or on anything else that comes up... It feels good to know that all this music will see the light of day soon."
Added Sanders: "The vibe from Day One was, and has been, very therapeutic and refreshing for me. The chemistry was immediate."
GONE IS GONE made its live debut on April 27 at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles.

FATES WARNING - Theories Of Flight Album Sampler Video StreamingScheduled for release via Inside Out on July 1st, Fates Warning’s new album, Theories Of Flight, is the long-awaited follow-up to 2013's Darkness In A Different Light. The band have launched an album sampler video, containing excerpts from all songs on the album. Check it out below.
Vocalist Ray Alder checked in to comment about Theories Of Flight": "We began writing the music for "Theories" while we were still touring for "Darkness"... I believe that the anticipation to write another record was due to the fact that we were once again touring and playing new material after nine years of playing the same songs. It was exciting to be on stage again and we looked forward to getting back in the studio. I also believe that our fans were happy to finally having something new to listen to..
“I/we are very happy with the way that "Theories" turned out. Jim and I collaborated practically every day on the new album for over a year until we actually went into the studio.. There were many different versions of the songs until they were finally complete, and I believe it shows in the final product. I think that Jim did an excellent job producing the new album. The material is, I believe heavier than what people are used to from us, as well as my vocal style. We wanted something different than "Darkness" but something that still carried a lot of melody."
Jim Matheos comments about the title and the artwork for the album: "The working title for the album was The Ghosts Of Home and the song with that name was first called ‘Home Again’. When I started searching for artwork I came across the piece that's now the cover and it was called ‘Theories Of Flight’. In fact, the title you see on the cover is part of the original art, not something we added. There's a loose theme running through a lot of the lyrics, and this developed organically and separately, where Ray and I are often writing about various uprooting, escapes....flights. So I was immediately drawn to that phrase as being a better description of what some of the songs are about."
Theories Of Flight will be available in the standard version and a two disc, Mediabook edition, which will include a trio of unreleased originals, as well as three additional, never heard, cover tunes. A double-LP version will also be available. The bonus disc is entirely acoustic.
The tracklisting is as follows:
CD 1
“From The Rooftops” (6:52)
“Seven Stars” (5:33)
“SOS” (4:34)
“The Light And Shade Of Things” (10:14)
“White Flag” (5:20)
“Like Stars Our Eyes Have Seen” (5:13)
“The Ghosts Of Home” (10:31)
“Theories of Flight” (4:00)
CD 2 – Acoustic Bonus Disc:
“Firefly” (3:15)
“Seven Stars” (4:25)
“Another Perfect Day” (3:25)
“Pray Your Gods” (3:45) - Toad The Wet Sprocket cover
“Adela” (2:25) Joaquin Rodrigo cover
“Rain” (4:03) Uriah Heep cover
Album sampler:
Guitarist Mike Abdow will be touring with Fates Warning for their upcoming live dates. Frank Aresti, who performs a couple of solos on the band’s upcoming new album, will not be able to tour with Fates Waring “for the foreseeable future”.
Says guitarist and main composer Jim Matheos: “To clarify Frank's status with the band, he contributed a couple killer solos on the new record (Mike Abdow did one as well), but due to his current work commitments he will not be able to tour with the band for the foreseeable future. He remains part of the extended FW family and the door is always open for him to return anytime his schedule permits. We hope to have an album sampler up later this week and the first full song shortly after that. As always, thanks for your support."
Frank Aresti states: “I absolutely love Theories Of Flight, and I'm proud to be a part of it. I'll continue to do as much as I can, as often as I can, with the band. Meantime, they're in good hands with Mike Abdow, a great guitarist and a great guy. I wish them the best of luck, and look forward to sitting in on a song (or two).” 3

Centinex originated in 1990 as a riff-oriented part of the classic Swedish death metal movement and disbanded in 2005 after releasing eighth full-length albums. In 2014 they surprisingly resurfaced with a refreshed line-up of Martin Schulman (Demonical) on bass, Sverker Widgren (Demonical, Diabolical) on guitars, Alexander Högbom (October Tide, Spasmodic) on vocals and Kennet Englund (Interment, Centinex 1999-2003) on drums. Year 2014 also saw the release of their come-back record, Redeeming Filth.
The band doesn’t want the fans to be kept waiting another near-decade for a new album. Titled Doomsday Rituals, the record is a natural follow-up to Redeeming Filth.
Martin Schulman (bass) commented: "Heavy riffing, deep brutal vocals, everything from slow via mid-tempo to faster stuff, a perfect mix of the early 90's Florida and Stockholm sound.”
Doomsday Rituals was recorded at Wing Studios with Sverker Widgren (Centinex, Demonical, Diabolical) behind the knobs. The cover artwork was made by Bahrull Marta of Abomination Imagery.
Tracklisting:

Heavy Metal Youngsters UNLOCKING THE TRUTH Release 'Monster' Video"Monster", the new video from UNLOCKING THE TRUTH — the heavy metal band from Flatbush, Brooklyn made up of three African-American boys, guitarist/vocalist Malcolm Brickhouse, bassist Alec Atkins and drummer Jarad Dawkins — can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's forthcoming debut full-length album, "Chaos", which will be released on June 17 via premier independent music distributor Tunecore. The set was produced by Johnny K (MEGADETH, POP EVIL, DISTURBED) and captures the young band's explosive live energy, resulting in a tight, powerfully heavy yet melodic full-length offering.
Of "Chaos", Brickhouse commented: "We can't wait for everyone to hear our album. We've worked very hard to give the fans something they'll love and never forget. We hope they are able to relate to the songs the way that we do and have the time of their lives listening to them. We know that this album will blow you guys away." As previously reported, UNLOCKING THE TRUTH will be the subject of the forthcoming documentary, "Breaking A Monster". An exclusive feature-film account of the band's experience with the major record industry, it will be released this summer. SeeThink Films, the collaborative behind the release effort, has launched a Kickstarter campaign in support of an even wider theatrical presence.
"Chaos" track listing: 01. Chaos02. Monster03. A Tide04. Help Me05. Other Side06. Numbing07. Made Of Stone08. Ravens09. Escape10. FAYWB11. Take Control
UNLOCKING THE TRUTH last year spoke to The Daily Beast about their decision to sever ties with Sony, less than a year after signing with the major label.
"It was pretty difficult at times with [our] meetings [with Sony] — especially with this one particular lady at the label, who had a meeting with us once where she was just talking at us for six hours," Alec said. "We were pretty young at the time so we were pretty restless and wanted to get up and do something else, but she just had us in this meeting for six hours."
As part of its guaranteed two-album deal with Sony, UNLOCKING THE TRUTH was reportedly due to receive $60,000 to record the first disc and possibly as much as $325,000 for the second CD. Sony reportedly had an option to release a total of five albums from UNLOCKING THE TRUTH that could have pushed the label's financial investment to around $1.8 million ($325,000 for the second album, $400,000 for the third, $450,000 for the fourth and $550,000 for the fifth). It should be noted, however, that the band was only supposed to see the real money after an initial $60,000 advance if their debut album sold more than 250,000 copies, a prospect that seemed highly unlikely in an age of diminishing record sales.
Luke Meyer, the director of "Breaking A Monster", told The Daily Beast: "The $1.8 million is what happens if you add up all their advances for five records, and it increases in amount with each successive album.
"That's what everyone says about the music industry — it's got all this glitter on it, but it's always less flashy than it looks."
The members of UNLOCKING THE TRUTH famously got permission from a New York judge in July 2014 to sign the Sony deal. The musicians needed the judge's approval because they were minors.
UNLOCKING THE TRUTH has already played the Coachella festival and has supported GUNS N' ROSES. In addition, the band has appeared in a national ad campaign for Verizon Wireless.
UNLOCKING THE TRUTH credits bands such as METALLICA, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED, CHELSEA GRIN, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE and ESCAPE THE FATE as its influences.

THOMAS ZWIJSEN’s NYLON MAIDEN Release Music Video For Acoustic Cover Of IRON MAIDEN’s “When The Wild Wind Blows”A video for “When The Wild Wind Blows” from Nylon Maiden’s upcoming double CD, Preserved In Time, can be seen below. Nylon Maiden is headed up by Dutch classical guitarist Thomas Zwijsen - known for his acoustic renditions of some of metal’s greatest songs and arrangements of Iron Maiden tracks.
Nylon Maiden’s Preserved In Time is due for release in June. Thomas has gained almost 10 million views on YouTube with his arrangements of Iron Maiden songs for classical guitar, making this his most anticipated album to date.
Preserved In Time promises to be Zwijsen’s ultimate Iron Maiden tribute album. It makes the classical guitar world a bit more metal by adding 16 Iron Maiden songs (and two Bruce Dickinson songs) to its repertoire.
Zwijsen’s long-time collaborator Blaze Bayley is one of the returning guest musicians on this album, performing two tracks from his Iron Maiden days, as well as a unique version of “Blood Brothers” off the Brave New World album! This is the first time Blaze performs an Iron Maiden song from the post-Blaze era. It gives Iron Maiden fans an idea of what it would have sounded like if Blaze had stayed with the band.
Tracklisting:
Disc 1
“If Eternity Should Fail”
“Stranger In A Strange Land”
“Judgement Of Heaven” (with Blaze Bayley & Anne Bakker)
“Ghost Of The Navigator”
“Powerslave” (Thomas & band)

“Fear Of The Dark”
“Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” (Thomas & band)
Zwijsen comments: “In our attempt to choose the best track listing for the most fulfilling, surprising and complete Iron Maiden tribute album, we simply couldn't fit all the songs on a single CD, so we decided to make it a double CD this time. Many of the songs were requests from people on YouTube. If this were to be the setlist at an Iron Maiden concert, I’d be very happy!”
People who pre-order the album get some cool extras:

BRAD WHITFORD And DEREK ST. HOLMES Tap SLASH Drummer BRENT FITZ For Upcoming TourWHITFORD/ST. HOLMES, featuring the dynamic duo of AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford and TED NUGENT vocalist/guitarist Derek St. Holmes, is back together and ready to release their new studio album and hit the road with WHITESNAKE — all beginning on June 3.
Joining the two on the road will be bassist Chopper Anderson and keyboardist Buck Johnson, who both played on the "Reunion" album. Filling in on drums for all dates will be Brent Fitz (SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS) replacing Troy Luccketta, who will be touring with TESLA at the same time.
"We are very excited to have Brent join us on this run," says Whitford. "Troy is so good, he is just not an easy guy to replace!" "We really needed a guy with the right feel," adds St. Holmes, "Brent brings that with him along with the power that kicks these songs out like they were meant to be. We can’t wait to get out there with him."
Asked how he feels about his new gig, Brent was quick to answer. "I was already excited for the new WHITFORD/ST. HOLMES 'Reunion' record. So, it goes without saying how thrilled I was to get a call from Derek and Brad asking me to step in on drums for the upcoming tour. Playing brand new music with these two legends, and in such a great new band, couldn't be more exciting! I consider them both architects of my own musical makeup, so, of course, I'm looking forward to playing a few of their own classics as well!"
WHITFORD/ST. HOLMES's tour with WHITESNAKE launches on June 3 in Dallas and continues on through Texas, Indianapolis, Ohio, Detroit, Boston and more with headlining dates peppered in between. This leg of the tour will conclude on July 2 with a headline show. The band will also play with LYNYRD SKYNYRD on July 31 at Festival Park in Elgin, Illinois.
It was 1981 when Whitford, who had left AEROSMITH, first teamed up with St. Holmes to release their self-titled debut. Tracks like "Sharpshooter" and "Whisky Woman" carried on the stadium rock and roll style that made them famous. The album received critical acclaim and they did a successful round of tour dates before returning to their respective bands and shelving the duo. Until now!
Recently, the two friends found themselves living in the same town on the outskirts of Nashville. While working on some catch up time, they decided to revamp their collaboration. After writing a number of songs, the duo recruited Anderson, Johnson and Luccketta to record the album. Produced by Whitford and St. Holmes, the album was recorded at The Castle Studios in Franklin, Tennessee.
Whitford and St. Holmes, who have collectively been part of tens of millions of record sales as part of AEROSMITH and TED NUGENT, know the true purpose of their art. "It's hard to believe we first jammed over thirty years ago," states Whitford. St. Holmes adds: "We are excited for this record to get out there, we want to share it with our friends, all those hardcore rock 'n' roll fans… Like our fans and good whiskey, we all seem to get better with age."

DUFF MCKAGAN Documentary 'It's So Easy And Other Lies' Begins Theatrical RunGUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan's new documentary, "It's So Easy And Other Lies: Live At The Moore", will begin a limited theatrical run in U.S. theaters starting May 26, according to The Pulse Of Radio. XLrator Media will present the film in 50 cities ahead of its arrival in Los Angeles on June 3. The film focuses on McKagan as he tells his life story in a live performance at Seattle's famed Moore Theatre in 2013.
Featuring exclusive archival footage, this authorized documentary chronicles Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee McKagan's meteoric rise to fame and fortune, his near-fatal struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, and his remarkable life transformation. The film features interviews with many of the people who took this wild ride, including a constellation of rock stars that rose to fame alongside him, and the people who inspired him to overcome his addictions. In a voice that is as honest as it is indelibly his own, Duff takes audiences on a harrowing journey through the dark heart of rock 'n' roll and out the other side.
"It's So Easy And Other Lies: Live At The Moore" was directed and produced by Christopher Duddy, produced by Daniel Zirilli and Steven G. Kaplan, and executive produced by Vision Films' Lise Romanoff, Gato Scatena, Jordan Rosner, Hans Stangl, Birgit Stein and Kati Thomson. Evan Saxon did the theatrical booking.
Fans can go to ItsSoEasyMovie.com for theater information and to purchase tickets.
The Seattle appearance was part of a promotional tour by McKagan in support of his 2012 memoir of the same name, which debuted on the New York Times' Hardcover Nonfiction Best Sellers list at No. 17.
McKagan's first book and his second, "How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions)", chronicled not just McKagan's life but the wisdom and experience he gained from his time with GUNS to getting sober after a life of hard living to raising a family with his supermodel wife.
McKagan told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago what the best part of sobriety was. "Waking up every day. Waking up and being able to have a cup of coffee and be aware of what's going on around me and being comfortable in my own skin, and being curious about what's gonna happen that day," he said. "Simply, just waking up is the best thing."
The documentary's release comes three weeks before the partially reunited GUNS N' ROSES will begin a summer stadium tour of North America at Ford Field in Detroit on June 23.

FOO FIGHTERS Guitarist Calls Current Hiatus 'Strange' And 'Super Unusual'According to The Pulse Of Radio, FOO FIGHTERS guitarist Chris Shiflett appeared on KROQ in Los Angeles on Monday morning (May 23), where he discussed the band's current hiatus. Shiflett said the band is enjoying the time off, explaining, "It's pretty great, man. We were working really hard for a long time. We were on the road for at least a year or so for the last [album], but then we were also traveling when we made the record, so that kind of felt like we were on the road, so it felt like a year and a half or so. Then before that there were shows we did for Dave's [Grohl, FOO FIGHTERS mainman] movie, then the album before that, so it seemed like it was just a long stretch of back-to-back stuff."
Shiflett added: "This is, like, nothing on the calendar; you're just kicking it for the summer. It's very strange, and super unusual for us; we don't tend to do that." The guitarist also said he felt "weird" for the first couple of months, revealing that it's often around January that he hears from Grohl about making the next record. Shiflett said: "Dave usually sends out an e-mail or a text or something: 'Hey, I've got some songs. Let's go.' But usually we don't have this amount of time off."
FOO FIGHTERS bassist Nate Mendel told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how the band's songwriting process works. "It's really been pretty consistent over the years," he said. "Dave writes the songs, and about half the time he'll do a demo on his own, and the other half of the time he'll come in and just play it on guitar. Then [he] shows it to the band and then we sit around and play it and figure out, you know, what kind of song is it gonna be. Is it a country song? Metal song? You know, what the dynamic is, arrangement, tempo, that kind of stuff. We help him finish it out."
Shiflett insisted that the band "shall return," but admitted, "I just don’t know when, but it will happen."
FOO FIGHTERS finished an intense, nearly three-year period of activity at the end of 2015, which included the release and promotion of the Grohl-directed "Sound City" documentary, the filming and recording of the "Sonic Highways" HBO series and album, and the year-long world tour in support of the latter — with Grohl nursing a broken leg for the second half of 2015.
The FOO FIGHTERS cut the fall European leg of the tour short after last November's terrorist attacks in France, but managed to issue an EP of five new songs, titled "Saint Cecilia", that was dedicated to the victims of the Paris attacks. Grohl revealed at the time that the FOO FIGHTERS would go on hiatus.

ALICE COOPER Says JOE PERRY Asked JOHNNY DEPP For Guitar LessonsAlice Cooper says that AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry asked Johnny Depp for guitar lessons after hearing the actor play in movie.
Cooper, Perry and Depp are members of the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES supergroup, dedicated to the memory of Cooper's late drinking buddies Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon and John Lennon.
Cooper tells EonMusic: "Johnny is one of these guys that just loves that era, and he's a killer guitar player.
'There's a movie called 'Chocolat' and he plays this gypsy guitar player. He does all this Django Reinhardt stuff — and it's really him. It's not somebody playing for him. Joe Perry heard that, and he called up and said, 'Can I get guitar lessons from you?' So that's how good Johnny is."
The HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES released their self-titled debut album last year and will hit the road in Europe and North America this summer. The U.S. tour runs through July 25 in Paso Robles, California.
Rounding out the lineup are Matt Sorum from GUNS N' ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER on drums, Robert DeLeo from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS on bass, Tommy Henriksen from Cooper's band on guitar, and Bruce Witkin on piano, percussion and guitar.
After the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES tour, Cooper has U.S. dates with his band in August and October.

THE WINERY DOGS: 'Captain Love' Video ReleasedTHE WINERY DOGS, the power trio featuring drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB), legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, TALAS, DAVID LEE ROTH) and guitarist/vocalist Richie Kotzen (MR. BIG, POISON), will launch another U.S. headlining tour on Saturday, June 25 in Hinckley, Minnesota at the Grand Casino Amphitheatre. The band is on the road in support of its second album, "Hot Streak", which was released last October in North America via Loud & Proud Records.
To get fans revved up for the new tour, the hard-rocking trio will release a new single, "Captain Love", to radio on June 3. A Vicente Cordero-directed video for the song can be seen below.
"Captain Love" is one of the band's favorite songs on the album. While lyricist/singer/guitarist Richie Kotzen doesn't confess to be the subject of the song, drummer Mike Portnoy believes it's the perfect groove to be played in strip clubs around the world.
"Eight months after kicking off our first U.S. leg last October and following runs in Europe, Japan and South America," explains Portnoy, "we are excited to round home plate and return home with some more U.S. shows in June and July."
THE WINERY DOGS' May 27 performance at Teatro Cariola in Santiago, Chile will be professionally filmed and recorded for an upcoming DVD and Blu-ray.
"Hot Streak" debuted at No. 30 on The Billboard 200 chart, having shifted 13,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 8, 2015.

STITCHED UP HEART Releases 'Monster' VideoSTITCHED UP HEART's debut full-length offering, "Never Alone", is set for a June 17 release via Another Century. The group's new video for the Active Rock single "Monster" can be seen below.
STITCHED UP HEART singer Mixi states: "The track 'Monster' was the very first song we wrote for the new record with Another Century.
"The night before we went in the studio, I was getting tattooed by my artist Mr. Monster and he asked me to write a song for him. That's where the idea started. The next day the producers, Merritt (our lead guitarist) and I met up to start the writing process. The studio was dark with spell books, herbs, spices and other various weird ritual stuff. There was an odd feeling that overcame me, almost like a beast was ready to be set free. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the environment, our determination to kill this record or the mass amounts of monster energy drinks I had that day, but something came over me and was unleashed into the recording."
She continued: "The same thing happened shooting this video. There was something that just needed to be let out. The director, Robert Graves, and producer, Marco DeMolina (BUCKCHERRY, BUTCHER BABIES), were very good at capturing the crazy energy in each take. It only seemed to take one or two times to get the shots he wanted. Everything ran very smoothly. The location had a lot of history as well. I remember in between takes at one point I really felt possessed or something. There was a scene shot in a chamber I was looking around the room with a feeling like I had been in there forever and would never get out. Maybe it's just something about the song lyrics about releasing this beast inside of me, or maybe I really am a monster."
STITCHED UP HEART is described in a press release as "a band built around the strength that comes from realizing we are the only ones that control our lives, and focused on the hope that reminds us there is always light at the end of the darkest tunnel. It's something heavy and powerful, jarring the album's epic closing track 'I Can't Breathe' from a piano-paced ballad that would do Lady Gaga proud, to a metallic onslaught of drop-tuned guitars that is sure to see the band sharing a stage with the hardest of their hard rock peers. And it is something undeniable, Mixi's voice taking flight amidst anthems of self-awareness that bridge the unrelenting confidence of IN THIS MOMENT's Maria Brink and the soulful transcendence of Adele."

PAUL GILBERT - “One Woman Too Many" Song Snippet StreamingGuitar legend Paul Gilbert will release his newest record, I Can Destroy, on May 27th via earMUSIC on CD Jewel and digital. A snippet of the new song “One Woman Too Many" is streaming below.
From platinum album sales and number one chart success as a founding member of Mr. Big, to frightening the guitar community with new levels of ferocious picking technique with shred-pioneers Racer X, to exploring punk, pop, classical, blues, jazz, and progressive instrumental styles in his solo career, Paul Gilbert has recorded a massive amount of stunning guitar music, all while circling the globe to play sold-out arenas from Japan to Jakarta.
Gilbert’s style stands out for its rare combination of accuracy, creativity, and power – all which are balanced with Paul’s sense of humour and pure love of music.
Although Paul is best known for his work with Mr. Big and Racer X, he has also toured with Joe Satriani’s G3, played in a host of tribute concerts with legendary drummer Mike Portnoy, and been integral in the design of his signature Ibanez PGM and Fireman guitars.
Paul’s legacy as a guitar instructor began when he was eighteen, when he was hired to teach at Hollywood’s Guitar Institute of Technology. His groundbreaking “Intense Rock” videos and DVDs have inspired legions of guitarists to improve their accuracy, speed, and phrasing. Years as a columnist for Guitar Player magazine, and most recently, Premier Guitar magazine, along with giving countless clinics, private lessons, and serving for five years as the dean of MI Japan, have given Paul Gilbert deep experience in the art of communicating music to all levels of guitarists.
Over 25 years in the music business have only increased Paul’s passion to explore the possibilities of music and the art of playing the guitar. Whether he’s playing to 10,000 fans or jamming one-on-one with a student, Paul Gilbert is living his childhood dream of taking the sounds in his head and bringing them into reality – on the electric guitar.
I Can Destroy is Paul’s next solo-masterpiece and will be his 18th solo album. The album features 13 very diverse rock-tunes. With Kevin Shirley producing, and an amazing band of Freddie Nelson and Tony Spinner on guitars and vocals, Kevin Chown on bass, and Thomas Lang on drums, Paul rocks with more power and emotion than ever before.

AC/DC: Official Video Recap Of Prague ConcertThe official video recap of AC/DC's May 22 concert in Prague, Czech Republic can be seen below.
AC/DC performed the song "Touch Too Much" live for the first time in more than 35 years in Prague. The show marked GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose's sixth appearance as the temporary frontman for AC/DC. For the Prague concert, as was the case in Vienna last Thursday, Rose was only partly confined to the chair he's been seated on ever since breaking his foot during a surprise GUNS club show in April 1 in Los Angeles.
Rose told photographers back in late April that he would be wearing the cast for "a couple of weeks" longer. Although that was a month ago, he is clearly becoming more mobile at each show.
Rose sustained the injury at the first GUNS N' ROSES show featuring the partially reunited original lineup, who will also head out on a summer stadium trek beginning June 23 in Detroit.
He took over the mic in AC/DC after singer Brian Johnson was warned by doctors that he would face a total loss of his hearing if he stayed on the road. Rose is slated for now to play AC/DC's current run of European shows as well as ten postponed North American gigs.
Rose told NME in a new interview that he didn't speak with Johnson before temporarily replacing the latter, saying it was only because he didn't have enough time. Rose explained: "I have not spoken with Brian. We haven't spoken much about Brian. There hasn't been any negative talk with the guys or anything — it's just the time schedule of having to get things together for the shows, while I also had GUNS N' ROSES commitments, and then breaking the foot."
Rose reached out to AC/DC himself after hearing about Johnson's misfortune. Guitarist Angus Young said: "A lot of people were putting people forward. You get a lot of people. The modern world being what it is, everyone's, 'Well, I can sing a song.'" AC/DC did audition at least two tribute band singers during their search.
Rose recently indicated that he's willing to continue with AC/DC past the 22 shows he's contracted for.

Ex-AC/DC Drummer SIMON WRIGHT Says AXL ROSE 'Seems To Be Doing Okay' Singing For The BandFormer AC/DC drummer Simon Wright has weighed in on the strange situation regarding AC/DC and singer Brian Johnson. The legendary Australian rock band postponed the last ten dates of its recent North American tour after doctors told Johnson he faced "total hearing loss." AC/DC has since announced that it will use GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose as a "guest vocalist" for all remaining shows this year, with Johnson apparently not returning to the band at all.
Asked how he feels about the fact that Brian appears to be out of AC/DC, Simon told Argentinean rock journalist Lucas H. Gordon at this past Sunday's (May 22) "Ride For Ronnie" motorcycle rally and concert in Encino, California (see video below): "It was a little weird and strange how the news came out. For a moment, it seemed like [Brian had] been fired, and that seemed, to me, to be the strangest thing ever, if he'd been fired, but it wasn't true. So he's had a problem with his hearing."
He continued: "I'm just shocked. But it's like Brian said, we all get older, we get injuries and stuff and everything. Like he said, I'm just glad for him that he's not really, really badly injured and that he's doing okay and I wish him the best of luck. And Axl seems to be doing… I saw a couple of [clips online and] Axl seems to be doing okay. It seemed really weird at first, but when you watch it, he's giving it his all and he seems to have a big respect for the band and the fans and everything. So it seems to be going along…"
Wright added: "I don't know what they'll do after this run of dates — I don't really know — but I wish 'em all the luck in the world."
According to a Billboard.com source, Rose initially met with AC/DC members in Miami and Atlanta back in March. It was then that the decision was made to have Rose join AC/DC on tour. There was also talk of having other singers alternate with Rose, including ex-SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach and Nic Cester of the Australian band JET.
Rose made his live debut with AC/DC on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal, and by all accounts delivered a triumphant vocal performance as fill-in for Johnson even if he was still confined to a chair onstage due to the broken foot he suffered during a GUNS show last month.

SERJ TANKIAN Releases 'Aurora's Dream'Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and activist Serj Tankian has released "Aurora's Dream", a song he was commissioned to write for the recent "Aurora Prize" ceremony in Yerevan, Armenia. "Aurora's Dream" was featured as the main theme song for the inaugural "Aurora Prize" ceremony, which was organized by the 100 Lives initiative to honor individuals whose actions have had an exceptional impact on preserving human life and advancing humanitarian causes. On behalf of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide and in gratitude to their saviors, an Aurora Prize Laureate will be honored each year with a $100,000 grant as well as the unique opportunity to continue the cycle of giving by nominating organizations that inspired their work for a $1,000,000 award. Though the April event was the first official ceremony, it marked the second time an Aurora Prize has been awarded. "'Aurora's Dream' is the result of some of my best compositional efforts in years," said Tankian. "I'm glad it was for the 100 Lives organization and for the wonderful things they're doing with bringing attention to devastating tragedies and the real heroes that rise to the occasion, especially with their Aurora Prize events." An instrumental version of "Aurora's Dream" served as the backdrop to "Aurora", a film by Eric Nazarian that was featured during the ceremony. "Aurora's Dream" follows the recent release of "Artsakh", an acoustic song Tankian wrote in support of the people of Artsakh, a former region of Soviet-era Azerbaijan. "These people have lived on those lands for thousands of years," said Tankian. "They have great struggle but also great beauty written on their foreheads. The whimsical appropriation of land by an empire (Stalin) placed them under Azerbaijan. They have since gained their independence and have lived a prosperous existence for the last 20 or so years. I do not believe in wars and ultimately borders but I deeply believe in self-determination and life without oppression. Therefore it is time for the world to recognize them as the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)." Tankian recently composed the soundtrack for "The Last Inhabitant" and just released the soundtrack for "1915", a film created by writer-directors Garin Hovannisian and Alec Mouhibian about the Armenian genocide, an attempted extermination of the Armenian people by the Ottoman Empire. From 1915 through 1923, 1.5 million men, women and children were starved, shot, beaten and banished to die in the desert during one of history's greatest crimes. Though considered by many to be the first genocide of the 20th century, the Turkish government denies it ever happened. For Tankian, who's worked tirelessly over the years fighting for genocide recognition, it's a topic close to home. With his band SYSTEM OF A DOWN, Tankian last year commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with a global arena tour that included the group's first-ever performance in Yerevan's Republic Square. 8

Former MEGADETH Drummer NICK MENZA's Death Reportedly Not Drug-RelatedAccording to TMZ, investigators have ruled out drugs as a factor in the death of former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza.
"Law enforcement sources" have told the site that autopsy results indicated that the 51-year-old drummer did not succumb to a "stereotypical drug-related death." They reached the conclusion that Menza had no recent history of drug use after conducting a search and interviewing people close to him.
Sources close to Nick told TMZ that the drummer had dabbled with drugs in the earlier part of his career but that he had been completely sober for eight years.
Nick collapsed after suffering a heart attack during the third song of OHM:'s set on May 21 at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California.
One person who was present at The Baked Potato Saturday night told BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "It appeared to be a seizure but [Nick] stopped breathing. Two patrons took over and began CPR until EMS arrived. EMS worked on him for 25-plus minutes, including adrenaline shots, three shocks and non-stop compressions."
Menza joined MEGADETH for the 1989 recording "Rust In Peace" and for the next nine years became associated with the band's "classic" and most profitable era.
In addition to Menza, OHM: featured another ex-MEGADETH member, guitarist Chris Poland.
Menza joined OHM: last year after the passing of the band's previous drummer, David Eagle, who suffered a heart attack and had open-heart surgery in May 2015.
Last week, it was announced that Nick would unveil an art collection crafted from the new medium of "rhythm-on-canvas" on June 16. That unveiling has now been postponed to an as-yet-undetermined date.
Menza had been working with art team and publisher SceneFour on the collection titled "Rhythm Hits The Wall". 3

GONE IS GONE Feat. MASTODON, AT THE DRIVE-IN, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Members: 'Starlight' Song Streaming"Starlight", a brand new song from GONE IS GONE, the new project featuring MASTODON's Troy Sanders, AT THE DRIVE-IN's Tony Hajjar, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Troy Van Leeuwen and guitarist-keyboardist Mike Zarin, can be streamed using the Apple Music widget below. The collaborative group plans to debut an EP later this summer through their own imprint label via Rise Records/BMG.
A fan-filmed clip of that performance can be seen below.

EXTREMA Streaming New Song “Child Abuse”Italian thrashers Extrema are preparing for the release of The Old School EP, set for May 27th by Punishment 18 Records. The EP will be released as digital version, CD and vinyl (250 copies limited edition), and will feature two powerful guests: Ralph Salati (Destrage) and Bob Capka (ex-Vicious Rumours). A new song, "Child Abuse" is streaming below.
""Child Abuse" is another track from our past production that never ended on an album, there is a really old version on our demo tape Rehearsal 1989 that I found, the same as all of the tracks on this EP. We wanted to finally record all of them for our official discography. I've always been pissed that we never recorded them before because even today, these songs are timeless - they don't sound old. This song has a strong lyric, the title says everything," states guitarist Tommy Massara.
The Old School EP embodies the spirit, immediacy and brutality of the years in which its tracks were originally written, accented by fresh, pummelling production. Recorded last year at Fear Studios in Alfonsine (Ravenna, Italy) with The Seed Of Foolishness producer Gabry Ravaglia, these tracks do not just prompt the "old school" cliché - they are the real deal - recorded in classic brutal fashion with only minimal writing tweaks.
All five tracks were originally written in 1987, shortly after the release of Extrema’s We Fuckin ' Care EP. Only one of these songs saw the light on an album - "Life" was originally released in 1993 on the band's first full-length album Tension At The Seams. The track has been re-recorded for The Old School EP in addition to tracks the band is known for performing live-only or releasing as raw demos on rare tapes, including "Child Abuse", the instrumental "M.A.S.S.A.C.R.O", "Tribal Scream" and "Carcasses". The idea came to guitarist Tommy Massara while tidying Extrema’s audio archives. He began listening to a tape on which there were no notes or text records of any kind.
In addition to those tracks, The Old School EP will feature two bonus tracks, including live versions of "Life" and Motörhead's "Ace of Spades", both recorded in Rome, Italy.
Tracklisting:
“Life”
“Carcasses”
“Tribal Scream”
“Child Abuse”
“M.A.S.S.A.C.R.O.”
“Life” (Live in Rome)
“Ace Of Spades” (Live in Rome)
"Child Abuse":
"Carcasses" video:
Extrema will perform an EP showcase presentation on May 21st at Legend Club in Milan, Italy.

PERIPHERY: New Song 'The Price Is Wrong' Available For StreamingWashington D.C.-based prog innovators PERIPHERY will release their new album, "Periphery III: Select Difficulty", on July 22 via Sumerian Records.
A song from the CD, "The Price Is Wrong", can be streamed below. "It's like handing somebody a grenade," PERIPHERY guitar player Jake Bowen says about the track, which serves as the album opener. "It's so in-your-face and brutal for us. It was a great way to start." "Every one of our albums has a nice long intro, and we were, like, 'Let's kick this off with a drum fill and a pissed-off riff,'" laughs PERIPHERY guitar player Misha Mansoor. "It's something we haven't done. It was fun." "Periphery III: Select Difficulty" track listing:
01. The Price is Wrong02. Motormouth03. Marigold04. The Way The News Goes…05. Remain Indoors06. Habitual Line-Stepper07. Flatline08. Absolomb09. Catch Fire10. Prayer Position11. Lune
PERIPHERY's own Adam "Nolly" Getgood oversaw production for the album as he did with the "Juggernaut" releases. Nolly will no longer be a touring member of PERIPHERY, as he will be expanding his production work in his native U.K. He remains an integral part, and a member, of PERIPHERY. At this time no decision has been made about a touring bassist.
"Touring with PERIPHERY has shown me some of the most incredible experiences I could ever have imagined, to meet amazing people all over the world and to create friendships for life; it has truly been an honour to perform in front of every audience who has watched us play over the years," he said. "However the touring life isn't something that everyone can continue doing indefinitely, and for me, the time has come where I want to settle into a more normal existence, be able to make plans further into the future than the touring life enables, and to be able to focus more on the studio side of my music career. I will, however, be remaining as a band member and contributing in any way that I can while the band is off the road; I love all of my fellow bandmates like brothers and I'm so grateful for the incredible support they've shown as I make this huge life change. I know they are going to be taking the music and performances to the next level when they hit the road later this year."
PERIPHERY's U.S. tour, dubbed the "Sonic Unrest" tour, launches on August 4. The month-long outing, sponsored by D'Addario and Guitar Center, includes openers SIKTH, CHON and TOOTHGRINDER.
PERIPHERY will host a four-day, immersive summer camp dubbed the Periphery Summer Jam on July 25-29 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. 1

Video Premiere: DEATH ANGEL's 'Lost'"Lost", the new video from San Fracisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "The Evil Divide", which will be released on May 27 via Nuclear Blast. The clip was directed and edited by Tommy Jones of Videohammer Studios.
Comments DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda: "The song 'Lost' is very personal to me and I believe it will resonate with many.
"As one who has been fortunate enough to be raised In the San Francisco Bay Area (an extremely diverse region), I have made friends with people from every religion, race, sexual orientation, and genre of music fan!
"One thing that no one can escape, no matter what one's beliefs are, or how well you were raised, or educated, is that one point in your life that you felt apart, or alone. It is an awful and disparaging feeling. Some are fortunate enough to have only experienced a fleeting moment of that empty feeling. More often than not though, it's much longer than a fleeting moment, and time moves no slower than when stuck in that feeling. I myself am not immune to that human experience.
"I find the best release for me, and what makes me feel as though I belong / am doing something right / have a quality of life that is not measured by a monetary system, is creating music!
"This song is for and about all who have ever been trapped in that dark hole of your own mind. This is 'Lost'! You are not alone!"
Adds Jones: "When I first spoke to Mark about the lyrical context of the song, I realized that he was coming from three different mindsets, or three different narratives that would lead someone to feeling 'lost.' So there was a challenge to represent these three scenarios into the video for the song. They were pretty heavy, current social topics in the form of religious extremism, a bad relationship riddled with drug and physical abuse, and cyber and school bullying. Each of these situations could make a person feel 'lost' as to what's right or what's wrong, or a sense of being trapped in a situation that in your mind you know is wrong, but being stuck in it, makes you feel 'lost'. I also wanted the band to seem 'lost' as if they were nowhere. So the setting of the video is that they are in complete never-ending blackness. The rain was a necessity. With the power that Mark is belting out the lyrics 'rain down on me', it was a no-brainier, I saw it in my head and needed to have him singing that last chorus in the rain. So we made it rain, yo!"
"The Evil Divide" was once again recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, DEICIDE), who previously worked on 2010's "Relentless Retribution" and 2013's "The Dream Calls For Blood". Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover artwork was created by Tyrrell and can be seen below.
"The Evil Divide" track listing:
01. The Moth02. Cause For Alarm03. Lost04. Father Of Lies05. Hell To Pay06. It Can't Be This07. Hatred United, United Hate08. Breakaway09. The Electric Cell10. Let The Pieces Fall
Bonus:
11. Wasteland
+ "Making Of" DVD
DEATH ANGEL will take part in a live performance and signing session on Thursday, May 26 at 5:00 p.m. at the Amoeba record store in San Francisco, California. 3
