DESPITE Sign With Eclipse Records; New Album Coming In June

DESPITE Sign With Eclipse Records; New Album Coming In June

Eclipse Records has announced the signing of Gothenburg, Sweden’s Despite to an exclusive, worldwide deal. The band features three eight-stringed guitar players.

In late 2014, the band released their single “Chaos Trigger” and quickly got the attention of VH1.com where the band was listed as one of “fifteen more metal bands you should be listening to”. Despite released another single “Praedonum” in mid-2015, and later that year Eclipse Records reached out to the band about signing a deal for 2016 and beyond.

Vocalist Peter Tuthill said of the signing, “I’m really stoked about Despite now being a part of the Eclipse family. I know that Eclipse, with Chris Poland at the rudder, has what it takes to bring Despite to the next level.” Bassist Anthony Cui elaborates, "this is a huge step in Despite’s career, and I’m sure it’ll be a game changer.”

Despite recently wrapped up recording a new full-length album entitled Synergi, which is currently scheduled for release on July 22nd. More details soon.

RAMONES – Rare And Previously Unpublished Photo Book Coming In April

RAMONES – Rare And Previously Unpublished Photo Book Coming In April

My Ramones - Danny Fields is a unique document of the band’s early career that will be published on April 27th as a hardback limited edition. Preorders can be placed at First Third Books.

The photobook collects rare and never before-seen photographs of the Ramones compiled in collaboration with Danny, the band’s first manager. Chosen from his extensive personal archive, all the images of the four founding members of the Ramones were taken between 1975 – 1977 when Fields co-managed them with Linda Stein and had unique access to the band. The photos are accompanied with commentary and captions by Fields adding new perspective and insight to one of the best-known bands in recent music history.

Fields first saw the Ramones play at CBGBs in New York; after a 17 minute set, he met with the four founding members and told them that he wanted to be their manager. “I had to bribe them with $3000 which they said they needed for a new set of drums. I went to Florida, asked my mother to lend me the money, came back with her cheque, and got the job. I photographed the band on tour, backstage, in the studio, walking around, meeting fans, seeing the sights and just checking things out,” says Fields.

Fields and his partner Linda Stein brought the band to London in July 1976, where their appearances at The Roundhouse and Dingwall’s had an indelible influence on the emerging punk scene in the UK.

CRADLE OF FILTH To Begin Composing New Material In June, Keyboardist / Backing Vocalist LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT Working With Canadian Band DARKSTONE CROWS

CRADLE OF FILTH To Begin Composing New Material In June, Keyboardist / Backing Vocalist LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT Working With Canadian Band DARKSTONE CROWS

Australian Music Network recently caught up with Cradle of Filth's Canadian backing vocalist / keyboardist Lindsay Schoolcraft, who also works as a solo artist under the Schoolcraft name. Following is an excerpt from the interview.

Lindsay: "There are things I can talk about because I’m allowed to talk about them. Of course, Cradle of Filth: we haven’t started yet, but we’ve discussed doing the next album together. So I’ve been given a grace period; I have until June, and then in June I’m going to start composing for Cradle of Filth again, which I’m looking forward to, because it’s going to be the same collaborative effort of the band as we had last time, but this time we’re actually going to meet for a week in Europe and sit down together and do it the way what we feel were the greatest Cradle albums were done—where all six of us are in a room, we’re focussed and we’re making these big songs happen. So that I’m looking forward to.

When it comes to Schoolcraft, before starting, I have to say I’m really, really passionate about organic instruments and about the string sections and having everything authentic. I feel that in today’s world, production is so polished and too clean, and all my favourite music was—not to say terribly produced—but it had some raw authentic qualities to it. And with Schoolcraft, I am redoing some of my old works, and I’m working on new works, and I want the real, live strings. And I’ve found a way to do it within a budget that works, because let’s be honest, this isn’t exactly something that is super affordable. But I believe you have to do your art right, or don’t do it at all.

I’m working on an EP right now with a local band here in Canada. They’re called Darkstone Crows. They’ve got more of a very raw kind of Alice in Chains-vibe, but the singer sounds like Stevie Nicks, and they’re fantastic at what they do. We found a way to make our two styles work together, so I’m doing one EP with them at the moment. We’re still trying to get it together, and we’re taking our time with it. Usually I’d be like, rush, rush, rush, get out a Schoolcraft song right now, but I want to do it right. I’m not going to make people wait years and years and years, but I am going to make sure that I’m happy with it before I put it out there. Because if you rush things, then you’ll look back that them later and think, I could’ve done this a little bit differently. I don’t want to live like that anymore, especially as an artist."

Cradle Of Filth will be returning to Belarus and Russia in May with support from Xandria. Dates are posted below, tickets went on sale March 2nd.

Check out fan-filmed video of the band's complete Orlando show on February 2nd below.

Cradle Of Filth have released a music video for the track "Blackest Magick In Practice" (streaming below). The clip was directed by Sam Scott-Hunter and the song is taken from the groups latest tome of horror and romance, Hammer Of The Witches.

Comments the director: "There’s dark madness in this video. “Blackest Magick In Practice” is a deeply tragic tale of lost love. It’s the grief stricken insanity of trying to bring back that loved one from the dead; desperately trying to hold onto that person who’s gone, even if that leads down a dark and gruesome path. I don’t want to give it all away, but I will say that the hardest part of the production was getting hold of a human ear.

"I wanted to convey the power of the band too, in amongst the romance, madness and magick. Behind the imagery of the lyrics is a great and powerful metal band of amazing musicians, and I hope people can feel the intensity of the band when they watch this. It is intense viewing. There should be a bit of madness in the video, because there’s madness in this song."

Cradle Of Filth's latest album, Hammer Of The Witches, was brought to fruition in Britain's Witch County, in darkest rural Suffolk at the reputedly haunted Grindstone Studios. The album's title is named after the Malleus Maleficarum, a medieval document of guidelines regarding the persecution and torture of witches - but Cradle Of Filth’s title version is more retributory: It's the Hammer Of The Witches; the hammer is in the witches' hands and it's payback time.

Unquestionably one of the greatest and most influential British metal bands of all time, Cradle Of Filth have cast a commanding and macabre shadow across the metal scene for nearly a quarter of a century. Armed with their trademark, cross-pollinated assault that taps into myriad strands of sonic extremity and morbid opulence they have steadily conquered the entire world, unleashing a malevolent slew of classic albums along the way. From the raw and rambunctious savagery of their 1994 debut The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh to the wickedly monstrous, technicolor bombast of 2012's The Manticore & Other Horrors, the Cradle ethos and aesthetic has had a huge impact on the evolution of metal, the band's insatiable appetite for performing live and frontman Dani Filth's unerring charisma and sense of occasion ensuring that they have established a powerful and enduring connection with Hell-bound acolytes everywhere.

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH's Debut Album To Finally See Light Of Day

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH — the heavy metal band from Flatbush, Brooklyn made up of three African-American boys, guitarist/vocalist Malcolm Brickhouse, bassist Alec Atkins and drummer Jarad Dawkins — will release its full-length debut album, "Chaos", on June 17 via premier independent music distributor Tunecore. The set was produced by Johnny K (MEGADETH, POP EVIL, DISTURBED) and captures the young band's explosive live energy, resulting in a tight, powerfully heavy yet melodic full-length offering.

Of "Chaos", Brickhouse commented: "We can't wait for everyone to hear our album. We've worked very hard to give the fans something they'll love and never forget. We hope they are able to relate to the songs the way that we do and have the time of their lives listening to them. We know that this album will blow you guys away."

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH last year spoke to The Daily Beast about their decision to sever ties with Sony, less than a year after signing with the major label.

"It was pretty difficult at times with [our] meetings [with Sony] — especially with this one particular lady at the label, who had a meeting with us once where she was just talking at us for six hours," Alec said. "We were pretty young at the time so we were pretty restless and wanted to get up and do something else, but she just had us in this meeting for six hours."

As part of its guaranteed two-album deal with Sony, UNLOCKING THE TRUTH was reportedly due to receive $60,000 to record the first disc and possibly as much as $325,000 for the second CD. Sony reportedly had an option to release a total of five albums from UNLOCKING THE TRUTH that could have pushed the label's financial investment to around $1.8 million ($325,000 for the second album, $400,000 for the third, $450,000 for the fourth and $550,000 for the fifth). It should be noted, however, that the band was only supposed to see the real money after an initial $60,000 advance if their debut album sold more than 250,000 copies, a prospect that seemed highly unlikely in an age of diminishing record sales.

Luke Meyer, the director of "Breaking A Monster", a documentary about the band's rise to success, told The Daily Beast: "The $1.8 million is what happens if you add up all their advances for five records, and it increases in amount with each successive album.

"That's what everyone says about the music industry — it's got all this glitter on it, but it's always less flashy than it looks."

The members of UNLOCKING THE TRUTH famously got permission from a New York judge in July 2014 to sign the Sony deal. The musicians needed the judge's approval because they were minors.

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH has already played the Coachella festival and has supported GUNS N' ROSES. In addition, the band has appeared in a national ad campaign for Verizon Wireless.

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH credits bands such as METALLICA, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED, CHELSEA GRIN, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE and ESCAPE THE FATE as its influences.

CARL PALMER To Pay Tribute To KEITH EMERSON And Music Of EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER

CARL PALMER To Pay Tribute To KEITH EMERSON And Music Of EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER

Carl Palmer, among rock's most renowned drummers and a founding member of both EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER and ASIA, is returning to the United States and Canada for a tour he has decided to name "Remembering Keith And The Music Of Emerson Lake & Palmer". Originally designed to be a celebration of Palmer's 50th year in music, the focus and name of the tour was changed in light of the tragic death of Keith Emerson on March 11. Shows will begin in New York City on June 2 and finish in Dallas, Texas on July 12.

"I will deeply miss Keith and I want you all to know I will carry on flying the ELP banner and playing the great music with my band for many years to come," said Palmer in a statement.

To honor his late friend and former bandmate, Palmer, in association with Audio One, will present a special show, "Pictures At An Exhibition- A Tribute To Keith Emerson", which will feature music by Carl Palmer's ELP LEGACY band with special guests, cinematic images, and performances by The Center For Contemporary Dance, who will interpret the music of EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER in contemporary dance segments combined with backing from Palmer and his band. The tribute show, which will also include other guest musicians yet to be announced, will be staged one night only, Friday, June 24 at Miami, Florida's historic and intimate Olympia Theater.

Added Palmer: "I hope this is something all fans of ELP and Keith Emerson will all want to come along and see to help celebrate his music. I had wanted to marry the music of ELP with a contemporary dance interpretation for quite a while. I had invited Keith to come and participate in this, but sadly, fate intercepted these plans."

The "Remembering Keith" tour features Palmer's popular ELP LEGACY band and will also highlight his collection of fine art, recently done in conjunction with California's SceneFour art studios.

ELP LEGACY is a red-hot power trio that features Palmer on drums and percussion, guitarist Paul Bielatowicz and bassist Simon Fitzpatrick.

KATATONIA: Official Lyric Video For New Song

KATATONIA: Official Lyric Video For New Song 'Old Heart Falls'

The official lyric video for "Old Heart Falls", a brand new song from KATATONIA, the Swedish purveyors of dark progressive rock/metal, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's tenth studio album, "The Fall Of Hearts", which will be released on May 20 via Peaceville. The follow-up to 2012's "Dead End Kings" was recorded at Stockholm's Studio Gröndahl & Tri-lamb studio, and was produced by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse. Mixing and mastering duties were carried out by Jens Bogren (OPETH, IHSAHN, DEVIN TOWNSEND) at Fascination Street Studios, with Karl Daniel Lidén (SWITCHBLADE, THE OCEAN, GREENLEAF) brought in as engineer. The dramatic-yet-desolate artwork was created by longtime KATATONIA designer and illustrator Travis Smith.

"The Fall Of Hearts" track listing:

01. Takeover [07:09]02. Serein [04:46]03. Old Heart Falls [04:22]04. Decima [04:46]05. Sanction [05:07]06. Residual [06:54]07. Serac [07:25]08. Last Song Before The Fade [05:01]09. Shifts [04:54]10. The Night Subscriber [06:10]11. Pale Flag [04:23]12. Passer [06:25]

Bonus tracks:

* Vakaren [04:54] (CD/DVD & Deluxe Edition)* Sistere [04:11] (LP & Deluxe Edition)* Wide Awake In Quietus [04:59] (Digital & Deluxe Edition)

KATATONIA spent the past four years since the release of "Dead End Kings" touring the world, as well as expanding its fanbase through two special albums on Kscope, the sister label of Peaceville. 2013 saw the release of "Dethroned & Uncrowned", which exploded the core of the songs on "Dead End Kings", creating new moods and textures. In 2015, they released the live acoustic album and concert film "Sanctitude". Both releases illustrate the band's journey toward this, their current more progressive sound.

"The Fall Of Hearts" is the first record to feature new drummer Daniel "Mojjo" Moilanen and with the addition of their recently recruited guitarist Roger Öjersson (TIAMAT), who came in just in time to sprinkle some blistering solos on the album, KATATONIA will continue to push their musical boundaries beyond their roots in the metal scene while drawing in new fans from across the musical spectrum like peers such as OPETH and ANATHEMA have also done, cementing KATATONIA's place as one of the most revered and cherished of all bands in the world of modern heavy music.

KATATONIA comments on "The Fall Of Hearts": "This album is probably everything we unknowingly ever dreamed of to release. It's a bleak but adventurous journey through our elements, we haven't held back, we have pushed to get forward and backward in the ever spiralling night of our musical legacy."

VICIOUS RUMORS To Release 'Concussion Protocol' Album In August

San Francisco Bay Area metallers VICIOUS RUMORS have set "Concussion Protocol" as the title of their twelfth studio album, due at the end of August via SPV/Steamhammer. The CD features eleven brand new songs and tells a chilling story of an armageddon by a global killer asteroid and how humanity unravels in the wake of the news. It's the first concept album for the band.

"Concussion Protocol" was produced by VICIOUS RUMORS guitarist Geoff Thorpe and longtime co-producer and engineer Juan Urteaga at Trident studios (MACHINE HEAD, TESTAMENT, HEATHEN, EXODUS, DRAGONLORD) in Pacheco, California. A video for the first single "Take It Or Leave It" was filmed a couple of months ago and will make its online debut soon. Guest solos by VICIOUS RUMORS brothers from the band's rich history, Brad Gillis (NIGHT RANGER, OZZY OSBOURNE) and Steve Smyth (NEVERMORE, TESTAMENT, FORBIDDEN) only add to the madness.

Thorpe states: "The album is relentless and crushing in true, classic VICIOUS RUMORS style but with many twists and turns. Believe me, you're in for a treat, VRazors!!! If you've ever been a fan of VICIOUS RUMORS, SABBATH, PRIEST or MAIDEN and a little Bay Area-style thrash thrown in for good measure, then this album is definitely for you!!! LAMB OF GOD Guitarist MARK MORTON Releases Another New Solo Song

LAMB OF GOD Guitarist MARK MORTON Releases Another New Solo Song 'Love Heals'

LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton has uploaded another new solo song titled "Love Heals". The track, which features a guest appearance by Jean-Paul Gaster of CLUTCH, can be streamed below. Also available is the previously released song "SnowBound".

Morton stated about the offering: "Here is sample of some of the new music I've been working on. It's definitely a little different than what you're used to hearing me do with LAMB. There are some great players involved in this project (including J.P. from CLUTCH on the drums!). I'm having a blast working on this stuff, and that's what this is all about for me… FUN! I hope you enjoy it!"

Morton previously collaborated with DEVILDRIVER vocalist Dez Fafara on a project called BORN OF THE STORM. The project released four tracks — "Secrets", "The New Rain Blues", "Nowhere Fast" and "Dust" — which featured Kevin Talley (SIX FEET UNDER, DAATH, MISERY INDEX, CHIMAIRA) on the drums.

LAMB OF GOD's latest album, "VII: Sturm Und Drang", was released in July 2015 via Epic in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Entertainment in all territories outside of North America. The CD was once again produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur with engineering by Wilbur, Nick Rowe and Kyle McAulay, and was recorded at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California and Suburban Soul Studios in Torrance, California.

New Song Premiere: DEATH ANGEL

New Song Premiere: DEATH ANGEL's 'The Moth'

"The Moth", a brand new song from San Francisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "The Evil Divide", which will be released on May 27 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was once again recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, DEICIDE), who previously worked on 2010's "Relentless Retribution" and 2013's "The Dream Calls For Blood". Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover artwork was created by tattoo artist Bob Tyrrell and can be seen below.

DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany said: "Both Mark [Osegueda, vocals] and I had been tattooed by Bob, and when the subject of album artwork came up, we approached him to create the design. We wanted an image that would represent the idea of 'The Evil Divide'; something beautiful, yet simultaneously wicked, hence the death moth. Bob realized our vision with mere pencil and paper, and now we proudly present to you the cover art for our eighth studio album, 'The Evil Divide'."

Osegueda told SFWeekly.com about working with Suecof again: "It's the third time we've used him, and we couldn't really be happier."

He continued: "This time, all the music was written and lyrics were written with the exception of one song, which I purposely saved to write on the spot.

"Sometimes you can get a great vibe from a studio and draw inspiration from that. That song came out great."

Mark added: "It's got the aggressiveness of the last two records, but our songwriting has improved dramatically. Really, it sounds like DEATH ANGEL should."

Regarding DEATH ANGEL's mindset going into the songwriting process for the upcoming CD, Osegueda told Rock Hard magazine: "When we started working with Jason Suecof for the last two records, 'Relentless Retribution' and 'The Dream Calls For Blood', we thought we were gonna do two records intense like that and kind of go back [to the more] melodic [direction of 1990's] 'Act III', but the last two records, we've been loving so much writing that style, and the crowds have been enjoying them so much.

"In our minds, even if we think we're being more brutal than we've ever been, it's inevitable that we are obsessed with melody, so there's always gonna be melody that separates us from, say, different thrash bands or extreme bands, because we always veer to a melody and catchy hooks. No matter how brutal we think we're being, we like to throw in hooks, so we're just gonna carry on how we're doing now and try to pick as many of the young punters there and keep our stronghold on the old punters."

"The Evil Divide" track listing:

01. The Moth02. Cause For Alarm03. Lost04. Father Of Lies05. Hell To Pay06. It Can’t Be This07. Hatred United, United Hate08. Breakaway09. The Electric Cell10. Let The Pieces Fall

Bonus:

11. Wasteland

+ "Making Of" DVD

DEATH ANGEL released "A Thrashumentary" in July 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The DVD was directed, shot and edited by Tommy Jones (KATAKLYSM, SOILWORK, LAMB OF GOD, CARCASS, TESTAMENT) of Videohammer Studios. The release also includes a full live album titled "The Bay Calls For Blood".

UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER: What It Would Take For U.D.O. To Start Performing ACCEPT Songs Again

UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER: What It Would Take For U.D.O. To Start Performing ACCEPT Songs Again

Former ACCEPT and current U.D.O. singer Udo Dirkschneider last month embarked on a special tour during which he is performing ACCEPT songs one last time under the DIRKSCHNEIDER banner before he closes the chapter for good.

Asked by the Neon Sunsets web site if he will miss performing the ACCEPT classics once the current tour is over, Dirkschneider said: "It will not be easy; I have to admit that. But I have to make a clear break for myself — close the book and this is it. And I have the problem that people come to me and ask me to play more ACCEPT songs. Other people ask me why I play ACCEPT songs at all, because there are fifteen U.D.O. records. I want to avoid such things and avoid the repeating questions concerning ACCEPT. I just can't stand that anymore. There is nothing more to be said. U.D.O. exists longer than ACCEPT. We have more records than ACCEPT."

He continued: "This tour is lots of fun to me. The fans enjoy it too. We will release a DIRKSCHNEIDER show as a [concert] DVD and CD. And after that, it is over. A little backdoor is left open, a very small one. If the band ACCEPT dissolves one day in the near future and I am still around with U.D.O., then there is a chance that I put ACCEPT songs back in the setlist. But currently there is ACCEPT, so go see them [if you want to see those songs performed live]. They are playing these songs."

While acknowledging that some ACCEPT fans want to hear the band's classic songs performed by the group's original singer, Dirkschneider explained that "you always have these comparisons [between how these songs are played by ACCEPT and U.D.O.]. I don't want this anymore either. [The current lineup of ACCEPT] also play 'Metal Heart', they play 'Balls To The Wall' and 'Princess Of The Dawn'. And then some people tell me, 'Oh, [current ACCEPT singer Mark Tornillo] is doing it better than you.' And I go, 'That's fine. Enjoy yourself.' But I don't want this anymore. And to avoid all of this in the future, I said, 'We are doing this one more time.'"

According to Udo, the original plan was for DIRKSCHNEIDER to only "a few shows," and "then [the tour] got bigger and bigger [due to demand]." But, he added, "I don't want to complain about that."

Fan-filmed video footage of DIRKSCHNEIDER's entire March 18 concert at Principal in Thessaloniki, Greece can be seen below (courtesy of Industry Kills).

The April 2 DIRKSCHNEIDER concert at Kaminwerk in Memmingen, Germany will be professionally filmed and recorded for a DVD and CD release later this year.

GOJIRA To Release New Album In The Summer; Teaser Available

GOJIRA To Release New Album In The Summer; Teaser Available

French progressive metallers GOJIRA will release their brand new studio album this summer via Roadrunner Records. The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2012's "L'Enfant Sauvage" was recorded at GOJIRA frontman Joseph Duplantier's Silver Cord Studio in Queens, New York.

Joseph told RollingStone.com in a new interview that GOJIRA worked on twelve songs for the album before ultimately deciding on ten. "We want a short album," he said. "Something less epic than what we usually do. People's attentions are shorter now. So a lot of the songs are four minutes."

Joseph and his brother, GOJIRA drummer Mario Duplantier, who make up the band's songwriting core, were forced to put the sessions for the new album on hold when their mother got sick and eventually died last summer.

"I felt physically, mentally exhausted," Joseph told RollingStone.com. "At the same time, though, the way it happened was beautiful. We were all around her. We had to cancel a few shows when she died, but it was very enriching at the same time. We learned a lot about death."

"When you read Joe's lyrics, for me, I cry right away," Mario said. "They're very deep and to the point. No bullshit. We recycle our sadness and depression in the music."

"Mario was recording drums, and I was playing guitar with him, just trying to help him know where he's at in the song, and both of us would start crying at the same time," Joseph added.

"The songs were half-written while she was sick," he said. "After she died, I still had to finish them. So one song was like, 'You're going to make it,' but the second verse is 'You didn't make it.'"

A new one-minute teaser for GOJIRA's forthcoming is available below.

GOJIRA's fifth album, "L'Enfant Sauvage", sold almost 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 34 on The Billboard 200 chart.

In March 2015, GOJIRA released "Les Enfants Sauvages", a limited edition 5" x 7", 60-page hardcover photo book chronicling the band's journey around the world over the first two years since the release of "L'Enfant Sauvage". The images were taken around the globe, spanning over 150 shows on three continents, and were hand-selected by Joseph and Mario. The package also included a live CD and DVD capturing the band's performance at the legendary Brixton Academy in London, England.

FEAR FACTORY has just embarked on a U.S. headlining tour on which it is performing its classic second album, "Demanufacture", in its entirety. They are also showcasing songs from their new album, "Genexus", which came out on August 7, 2015 via Nuclear Blast.

A list of remaining tour dates can be found at FearFactory.com

FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares told Metal Forces magazine about the band's plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of "Demanufacture": "Can you believe that that record's already 20 years old? It just went by fast. We feel that because that record has fan favorites, it would be good to do a tour around that just for a whole new generation of people who never got to see us during that time and that tour. To just play it in its entirety, man. To show respect to what was a record that opened a door to metal. It basically gave a facelift to metal. [Singer] Burt's [C. Bell] vocal style is definitely something that is very, very common these days among other bands. We just wanna show people where it came from, where it started, so hopefully a new generation will get into FEAR FACTORY."

Bell told Spotlight Report in a 2013 interview that he felt "Demanufacture" was ahead of its time. He said: "[At the time of its release] it was a hit, but it was an underground hit; it never made the mainstream. It's one of those records that was scratching the surface, but never really crossed over. At the time, it was still too aggressive, still too out there. Ever since then, that album just inspired and influenced so many other bands that if people that never heard 'Demanufacture' would listen to it today, they'd think it's a contemporary album."

FEAR FACTORY last year parted ways with bassist Matt DeVries (previously of CHIMAIRA, where he played guitar, and SIX FEET UNDER) and replaced him with Tony Campos (ex-SOULFLY, STATIC-X, PRONG, MINISTRY).

SOCIETY 1 Release Video For Cover Of THE DOORS’ “Wild Child”; Campaign Launched To Crowdfund Doors Tribute Album

SOCIETY 1 Release Video For Cover Of THE DOORS’ “Wild Child”; Campaign Launched To Crowdfund Doors Tribute Album

Society 1 has released a music video for their cover of The Doors' "Wild Child" (edited and directed by Matt Zane of Lord Zane Productions). The track was produced and mixed by Alex Crescioni at Stygian Sound and was mastered by Mike Wells at Mike Wells Mastering.

The band has also launched an Indiegogo campaign in hopes to crowdfund a Doors tribute album entitled Not To Touch The Earth, with "Wild Child" being the first track from the album.

Watch Society 1 talk about The Doors tribute album Indiegogo campaign below:

"This album isn't going to be some half hearted attempt to cash in by recording a bunch of uninspired covers. We want to bring The Doors music to a place that its never been. By focusing on the groove within the songs and bringing out the innate heaviness of each track our goal is to completely re-envision what The Doors may have sounded like if they created their music in 2016." - Matt Zane

"He's a good singer." - Robby Krieger (speaking of Matt Zane)

"I love my friend Matt's concept. Re-creating the doors classics with his own spin on it. Intense and inspired!!" - Ty Dennis. Drummer for Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger

"A singer has got to bring it all in order to tackle The Doors and Matt Zane has both the voice and the stage presence to do this music the service it deserves." - Dave Navarro

BLACK TUSK Premier NSFW Music Video For “God’s On Vacation” Single

BLACK TUSK Premier NSFW Music Video For “God’s On Vacation” Single

As they close out their last week of their extensive 8-week-long North American tour, Savannah, GA’s Black Tusk have unveiled a music video for their “God’s On Vacation” single from their latest album, Pillars Of Ash (January 29th, Relapse). Check out this NSFW video, directed by Alixandra Petrovich, below:

Since their formation over 10 years ago, Black Tusk have established themselves as one of the hardest working bands in rock. After four full-lengths, numerous splits and EP's and thousands of shows under their belts, the punk/metal power trio was faced with an immense and unexpected tragedy in late 2014 when founding bassist/vocalist Jonathan Athon passed away after a motorcycle accident in his hometown.

Now, as a testament to his profound and lasting legacy on the heavy music scene, the band, which also features guitarist Andrew Fidler and drummer James May with Corey Barhorst now on bass, are releasing Pillars Of Ash, the culmination of three brothers-in-arms' blood, sweat and tears, and is Black Tusk's finest accomplishment to date.

Pillars Of Ash tracklisting:

“God's On Vacation”
“Desolation Of Endless Times”
“Bleed On Your Knees”
“Born Of Strife”
“Damned In The Ground”
“Beyond The Divide”
“Black Tide”

NOTHING Premier “Eaten By Worms” Music Video

NOTHING Premier “Eaten By Worms” Music Video

Philadelphia’s Nothing have released a music video for “Eaten By Worms”, a track from their sophomore LP, Tired Of Tomorrow, due for release on May 13th via Relapse Records. Watch the new video below.

Tired Of Tomorrow will be available on CD / LP / Deluxe 2xLP (with two bonus tracks) / Cassette / Digital. Physical pre-orders and bundles are available via Relapse.com here, and digital downloads can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp at this location.

People often wonder why Nothing are so damn loud. In the case of many artists, the volume stems from a preoccupation with negativity, misanthropy and the human condition. But while Nothing's attitude lines up with these ideas, their personality isn't one that the band picked from a list of clichés. It's one moulded by their own experiences, from family troubles and personal tragedy to a string of bad luck that Murphy's Law would balk at. And that volume, rather than a selling point, is the only way the band has been able to translate the difficulty of real-life events into musical form.

Tired Of Tomorrow is a record born out of a chain of events that forced frontman Domenic Palermo to drastically re-think and re-shape his perspective about both life and music. Borrowing from personal memoir and external works alike, Nothing have worked the deepest influences of their youth and maturation into a package that's ultimately at its most relevant in the present day.

Tired Of Tomorrow was originally set for release via Collect Records, until the band discovered that the label had been funded by the now-infamous hedge fund manager Martin Shkreli, whose roster subsequently dissolved under the weight of the unsettling controversy surrounding him. Though the album was written before the Shkreli debacle, Palermo sees those events to only have strengthened the sentiments and ideas behind Tired Of Tomorrow, rather than confuse its message. It's a mess to think about, but as always, the contradictions and paradoxes of the kind Nothing harnesses ultimately lead to the greatest revelations, and the band's personal and tragic path has nonetheless led Nothing to produce deeply heartfelt and inspiring music. Whichever way you want to look at it, you can't deny that Nothing feels good.

The band’s 2014 debut LP Guilty Of Everything, a record inspired largely by the events surrounding Palermo’s incarceration in 2002 following an aggravated assault charge (to which he pleaded self-defense), garnered widespread critical acclaim. After having toured relentlessly across North America and Europe, playing with the likes of DIIV, Merchandise, Torche, Failure, Hum and many more, Nothing will announce tour dates for 2016 imminently.

Tired Of Tomorrow tracklisting:

“Fever Queen”
“The Dead Are Dumb”
“Vertigo Flowers”
“ACD (Abcessive Compulsive Disorder)”
“Nineteen Ninety Heaven”
“Curse Of The Sun”
“Eaten By Worms”
“Everyone Is Happy”
“Our Plague”

JEFF SCOTT SOTO's SOTO - Snippet Of New Track “Fall From Grace” Streaming

Soto, featuring vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, will release their second studio album, Divak, on April 1st via earMUSIC. A snippet of the new song, “Fall From Grace”, is streaming below:

Divak (pronounced "dee-vock") comes shortly after the band's debut release, Inside The Vertigo. It's a mere 15 months later, partly due to singer Jeff Scott Soto's insistence on continuing to create and build a true brand for his new venture.

Once again, the album is produced by Jeff Scott Soto and drummer Edu Cominato. It was mixed by long time JSS engineer/associate John Ellis, as well. The band features Soto on vocals, Cominato on drums, lead guitarist Jorge Salan, bassist David Z, and keyboardist/guitarist BJ. They are heavily featured on Divak, with their writing contributions together.

The first single "FreakShow" was co-produced/written by Tony Dickinson, who also co-wrote "The Fall”, which was the first single from Inside The Vertigo. The track is an extension of the Soto sound created especially for this new band.

Soto will debut live this month with a string of East Coast US dates, leading into the annual Monsters of Rock Cruise (East), alongside Steve Vai, Extreme, Queensryche, and countless headliners.

Soto, formed in 2014, are the dream band created when Jeff Scott Soto realized how much he missed the "heavier side" of his career after fronting artists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, and Journey, and even his own solo albums. The band hopes to continue its role as a driving force in today's current hard rock and metal scene.

OZZY OSBOURNE:

OZZY OSBOURNE: 'This Is Definitely The End For BLACK SABBATH'

In a brand new interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne spoke about the band's decision to call it quits after the conclusion of their "The End" world tour, kicked off in Nebraska in January.

"We're all in our late 60s!" he said. "I'm 68! The way things are going, people are dying left, right and centre this year, you know what I mean? So many of our colleagues have died.

"Lemmy's died, [David] Bowie's died. Jimmy [Bain] from Ronnie James Dio died, Natalie Cole died, the singer from the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS died, the guy from THE EAGLES died. It's like, every day somebody else dies and I'm thinking, fucking hell, I hope I'm not… I'm not liking this."

Ozzy talked in more detail about the December loss of his close friend Lemmy, with whom he had collaborated in the past.

"I spoke to him two days before he died, or tried to. I couldn't make head nor tail what the fuck he was talking about, he was so ill. And two days before I spoke to him he just had a birthday, his 70th … I mean, there's nothing fucking good about fucking dying at any age, you know?"But as he said to me, in one of the last conversations I had with him, he says, 'Well, I lived my life the way I wanted to live it. Who wants to live to 85? You're gonna be bored shitless.'"

Ozzy also reiterated that SABBATH will not come back and do any more touring after the completion of the current trek, which is scheduled to hit Australia in April.

"It's definitely our farewell tour," he said. If somebody thinks that a couple of years up the road we'll have problems with our memory and do another 90 shows… This is definitely the end for BLACK SABBATH."

BLACK SABBATH is selling a new limited-edition CD titled "The End" at the shows on its farewell tour. The disc features four previously unheard studio tracks left off the band's 2013 reunion album, "13", as well as live versions of four songs from the world tour the band did in support of that disc.

The four studio cuts are "Season Of The Dead", "Cry All Night", "Take Me Home" and "Isolated Man". They feature drums by Brad Wilk.

The live tracks, with drumming from Tommy Clufetos, are "God Is Dead?", "Under The Sun", "End Of The Beginning" and "Age Of Reason". The live cuts were recorded in Sydney, Australia, Auckland, New Zealand and Hamilton, Ontario.

Wilk and Clufetos had to get involved after founding SABBATH drummer Bill Ward withdrew from the reunion after initially agreeing to participate in it.

DISTURBED Fan Who Was Publicly Humiliated At Dallas Concert Says She

DISTURBED Fan Who Was Publicly Humiliated At Dallas Concert Says She 'Will Never Pay To See' Band Again

A DISTURBED fan has slammed the band's frontman for calling her out for texting during the group's recent concert in Dallas, Texas, saying that she will "never pay to see him again nor will my friends."

Shannon Pardue tells the Dallas Observer that she started texting her 14-year-old daughter — who was at home in Rendon, a suburb southeast of Fort Worth, in the middle of a hailstorm — after the main part of DISTURBED's show was over and before the band returned to the stage to the encore. As the crowd began chanting "one more song," Pardue began texting with her daughter to calm her down.

"So what is so important going on in the world that you need to be texting the entire fucking show?" DISTURBED's David Draiman asked, in an episode that was captured on video and posted on YouTube (see below).

Pardue says she tried to tell Draiman that her kids were more important, but he couldn't hear her since she didn't have a microphone.

"Don't tell me to go fuck myself," Draiman added. "You already did by looking in your phone instead of paying attention."

"I'm not wrong. Am I wrong?" Draiman asked Pardue. "If you were up here and I did that to you, how would you feel? Seriously! It is fucking rude. It is!"

Draiman then addressed the rest of the crowd. "Now she's all pissed off," he said. "She thinks that I did something wrong to her. I love it. Welcome to the age of the Internet, ladies and fucking gentleman."

In an online posting, Draiman tried to further explain his actions, writing: "That woman was not a fan. She was the date of a real fan who was standing next to her. She was face in phone from the moment the show started 'till the very end.

"I didn't 'stop the show.' This was when we came back out for an encore, and I started out by saying how amazing the crowd was (the part not on the recording)... this woman, who didn't want to be there in the first place, was the exception, so I chose to make an example of her.

"These shows went on sale in August and the whole run sold out in 48 hours. There were many TRUE fans who simply didn't have the opportunity to buy tickets and would GLADLY have switched places with this woman."

In a separate posting, he added: "You may not agree with my calling out the girl texting/tweeting/Facebooking the entire show the other night, who was clearly only there because her boyfriend took her to the show, and, like it or not, I have to accept that. But when we musicians go up on stage, bleed for our art, leave everything up there, and someone doesn't even have the decency to watch for even one song, it's like a slap in the face. We put all we have into what we do.

"It wasn't ego, it wasn't arrogance. It was my shock at the situation, to be honest, especially when so many others would have gladly taken her place."

After video footage of the exchange went viral, Pardue spoke to Dallas Observer about the experience, saying: "At first it ticked me off. But then I just wanted to go away. I told my husband, 'The most embarrassing thing in my life just happened to me.'"

She went on to say: "Rock stars wouldn't be where they are without people who come to pay for the show. Whether I had my eyes on him or not, I am still there and I can hear them. He's an amazing singer, and they were good, but it was just his attitude. I'll never pay to see him again nor will my friends."

Pardue, who says her husband purchased upper balcony tickets for the March 23 show at the House of Blues about six months ago and even wore his 15-year-old DISTURBED concert T-shirt to the show that evening, summarized the episode in a Facebook post. "[Draiman] was a jerk," she wrote. "DISTURBED just lost two big fans."

FILTER's RICHARD PATRICK Says DONALD TRUMP Is 'HITLER 2.0'

In a brand new interview with Australia's Loud magazine, FILTER frontman Richard Patrick revealed that the band's upcoming seventh album, "Crazy Eyes", was inspired largely by controversial Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. He said: "The whole record is about his fucking lunacy. It's an anti-Trump record... We all fucking know that he's Hitler 2.0. He's dividing the country, he's doing all the tell-tale signs of Hitler's. He's taking everybody and getting them mad at brown people. Whether you're an immigrant from Mexico or you're Muslim, he's just getting everybody riled up, and he's dividing the country. Unfortunately, for him, there's a buttload of people, like us, like me and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and all the other Democrats that have been backing Barack Obama this whole time. The Republican Party is absolutely for scorn and full of shit. They are dastardly, desperate people and they need to be stopped. And that's that."

He added: "Yeah, the record is about the hysteria that I see in the world. We've got riots up here, we've got cops shooting black people while they're running away, in the back. We've got all kinds of stuff going on, and it's not right. Listen, Justin [Timberlake], Adele and all those people are singing about how lovesick they are, and how much they love. They've got love songs and the sugary pop stuff down. So I'm going to let them do that and I'm going to be the exact opposite, and be strange, weird and heavy, and fucking dig a deeper hole for myself. Because I'd rather be underground and real than full of shit."

"Crazy Eyes" will be released on April 8 via Wind-Up Records. The follow-up to 2013's "The Sun Comes Out Tonight" was produced by Patrick.

On "Crazy Eyes", Patrick collaborated with old friends such as the man behind 1999's seminal platinum-certified "Title Of Record", producer Ben Grosse (THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS, MARILYN MANSON), and Michael "Blumpy" Tuller (NINE INCH NAILS). He also worked closely with new bandmates Oumi Kapila (guitar, programming), Ashley Dzerigian (bass), Chris Reeve (drums) and Bobby Miller (keyboards), plus former FILTER bandmates Johnny Radke and Danny Lohner. Mixing, meanwhile, was taken care of by Brian Virtue (JANE'S ADDICTION, THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS, DEFTONES), with the mastering handled by Howie Weinberg (VAN HALEN, THE MARS VOLTA, THE WHITE STRIPES).

SEBASTIAN BACH Is Returning For

SEBASTIAN BACH Is Returning For 'The Gilmore Girls' Revival On NETFLIX

According to TV Series Finale, former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach has returned for the upcoming revival of "The Gilmore Girls", which has been filming in recent weeks. Bach's character Gil is expected to come back to rock with HEP ALIEN, the band he played with on the show.

Netflix announced last October that it was reviving "The Gilmore Girls", with most of the original cast returning, including Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Jared Padalecki (Dean), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess), Matt Czuchry (Logan), David Sutcliffe (Christopher), Liza Weil (Paris), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Keiko Agena (Lane), Yanic Truesdale (Michel) and Vanessa Marano (April).

Instead of a full season of episodes, "The Gilmore Girls" reboot will consist of four 90-minute mini movies, each titled a specific season, beginning with winter, followed by spring, summer, and fall.

Bach told Ultimate Classic Rock earlier in the year: "Honestly, the way I look at [my appearances on] television is to promote my music. I know that's silly, but, to me, the albums last forever, more than any TV show. MTV doesn't play rock videos, but if I'm on 'Gilmore Girls', it's like, 'Who is this dude? I'm going to check out his albums.'"

He continued: "Netflix has given that show a whole new thing. I walk around and I always hear [about] 'Gilmore Girls'.

"I get noticed for different things in different parts of town," he added. "If I go to [famous Los Angeles rock club] the Rainbow, it's SKID ROW. If I go to a mall, it's 'Gilmore Girls'. If I walk around in the country of Canada, there is one thing that they like about me and that's 'The Trailer Park Boys'. Everywhere I go! I just consider myself lucky that I can do different things."

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to fund children's brain tumor research at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, one of the nation's leading children's medical facilities. "Acoustic-4-A-Cure" was created by Bay Area rock legends Sammy Hagar and James Hetfield, whose vision was to raise needed funds and awareness for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF by bringing together some of their legendary friends and throwing a must-see concert for fans. In past years, artists including Billie Joe Armstrong, Jerry Cantrell, Pat Monahan, Linda Perry, Chad Smith, Adam Sandler, Joe Satriani, Nancy Wilson, and more have joined Hagar and Hetfield to rock the sold-out benefit concerts. Rolling Stone said Acoustic-4-A-Cure "delivered on its promise of once-in-a-lifetime musical moments, duets, jams and surprise guests" and The San Francisco Chronicle stated, "from the moment the doors opened at the venue... more than anything else it felt like a great big party among friends." Highlights from 2015 included a surprise appearance from Adam Sandler who performed "Ramble On" and "Dream On" alongside Monahan, Satriani and Smith; Cantrell, Smith and Hetfield joined together for METALLICA's power ballad "Mama Said"; Hetfield accompanied his daughter Cali, who wowed the audience with her performance of Adele's "Crazy For You"; and Satriani and Perry got the crowd rocking with "Communication Breakdown". 2014 highlights included Hetfield's acoustic rendition of THE BEATLES' "In My Life"; Billie Joe Armstrong, Hetfield and Satriani bringing the house down with a medley of Bob Seger's "Turn The Page" and "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"; and the Hagar promised "only-in-San Francisco moment" when Hetfield, Armstrong, Satriani, Monahan and Nancy Wilson joined him on stage for an all-star jam of Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" to close the show.
