THE GARDNERZ Split With Vocalist
Swedish doom metal band THE GARDNERZ have parted ways with singer Niclas Ankarbranth. A band statement has been released below:
"We are sad to announce that our singer Niclas Ankarbranth has decided to step down. Niclas cited lack of time has his reason to leave and we are sad to see him go but we feel that there is no point on dwelling too much on this issue as Niclas is still a good friend and there is now hard feelings what so ever.
We think Niclas wrote it very well himself in the statement he sent us:
'Yo dudes, hope all is well with you guys. Unfortunately this mail is not all of joy as I have some bad news for you. Last year was a year filled with stress in my life. I did not always do what was best for me and carried too much on my shoulders and that took its toll on me. And this is something I had to learn from so 2014 is a year I have a lot of things going on in my private life as well and this means I have to prioritize differently in my life.
So with sorrow in my heart I have to resign as the vocalist in the band. I have already talked with Wilhelm about this matter and I tell you guys as I told him. I have a lot of respect for you all, not only as musicians but also as individuals so I want to be straight with you about this as I do not resign because of any musical differences or grudges against anything. I assure you, it's because I have to prioritize differently from this time forward.'
So that leaves us with the vocalist spot open. We are looking for someone who:
1 - Preferably lives in Sweden or any of the Nordic countries (Denmark/Finland/Norway). Not a deal breaker if you live elsewhere if you are willing to travel or/and can record at home.
2 - Have vocalist experience, we are mainly looking for someone to growl. Clean vocals are appreciated but not required.
3 - Have the time to write and arrange vocals for our next album that will be recorded this year.
4 - Do not take himself too seriously, we are a easy going dudes, so no rock stars or truer than thou BS.
5 - Please apply with a short bio and samples of your abilities at wilhelm@thegardnerz.com." | 0

Germany's OPHIS Sign With Cyclone Empire; New Album Title Revealed
Cyclone Empire has announced the signing of the mighty OPHIS.
Says the label: "Hailing from Hamburg, Ophis are one of the finest, most extreme and most promising doom bands in Germany and abroad. We are very happy to welcome this cult band and their dark, heavy, brute, grim, yet beautiful (funeral) doom/death from the bowels of rotting dinosaurs (like the band would call it J) in our little Cyclone Empire family!"
Last year, Ophis released the double CD re-release compilation package Effigies Of Desolation via Cyclone Empire. Their next full length will be recorded while you read this and a release date is planned for late summer/early fall 2014.
The band comments: "“After we already worked with Cyclone Empire with our latest release, the Effigies of Desolation compilation, we decided to stick to this label. We had offers from several other companies, and pretty good ones, too. We were also satisfied with the label we had before. So you see: they did something very right!!
We are as happy as a doom band can be to release our upcoming album, Abhorrence In Opulence on Cyclone Empire, because they have the modus operandi of big, professional companies, and at the same time the ethics of devoted underground labels. And that’s exactly what we need. Cheers on a great cooperation!”
Ophis lineup:
Phil - guitar, vocals
Martin - guitar
Olly - bass
Nils - drums | 0 | |

THE HAUNTED / FEARED Guitarist Ola Englund Posts Demo Sample From SOLAR Solo Project
Swedish guitarist and producer Ola Englund, current member of THE HAUNTED and FEARED recently released a demo sample of a new track from his solo project, SOLAR.
Commenting on the reasons behind the creation of Solar, Ola Englund said: “The idea with the project is for me to have an outlet of all my melodies and ideas that doesn't really fit in any of the other bands I play in. I'm thinking of keeping it as an ongoing project with the ability to have different kinds of guest musicians contributing. But as of right now I don’t feel I have the production/mixing skills to take on a project like this so I feel that when I end up with doing a full album I would need to hire someone to do it.”
Regarding the new audio sample, the guitarist adds: “I've decided to release the demo of the first part for free to download on this page. If you want to support you can put in an amount that you would want to donate when snagging the download. You will be contributing to more music being made. If budget allows try and make a full production with drums etc… for the full-fledged album.”
The audio sample can be streamed below, and downloaded for free/name your price here.
Meanwhile, Ola Englund will perform at Musikmesse 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany this week to promote the launch of his signature Randall Satan amplifier and his signature Washburn Solar guitar series. | 0

SEBASTIAN BACH Says His Former Bandmates In SKID ROW Are 'Allergic To Cash' And 'Happy Not Being Big'
Ex-SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach has responded to a recent interview in which SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan told a journalist that answering questions about the possibility of working with Bach again is "a waste of time."
"I go on my Twitter feed and I read things like [January 24] was the 25th anniversary of the release date of the first SKID ROW album, and SKID ROW doesn't give a fuck," Bach tells Yahoo! Music. "I would love to do something to celebrate it, and my former bandmates are like, 'Nah, we're playing a bowling alley. We're happy. We don't care.'"
He adds: "There's a lot of unreleased material sitting around collecting dust. The fans would love [to see it being released], but I guess my band is allergic to cash. They're happy not being big. It's such an insult to the millions of people who dug our albums. It's like saying, 'We were just joking [back then]. Happy anniversary!'"
Bach in July 2012 posted a letter on his Facebook page in which he said he was willing to reunite with SKID ROW. "For the fans, I would be willing to put my ego aside and do something that would be special for the people who put us where we are today," he wrote. "I do not personally want it myself. But it's not always about 'what I want.' If the fans really want to see us together, I would do it for the fans. Sometimes you can do things for people other than yourself."
Bach said he wanted to write the letter in response to current SKID ROW singer Johnny Solinger's interview in which Johnny said a tweet by Bach about a possible SKID ROW reunion was an attempt to "get attention."
Speaking to SCTimes.com, Bolan stated about Sebastian's departure from SKID ROW, "We thought we were disbanded and that we'd never do it again. Then we kept getting e-mails and the management office was getting lots of letters about people wanting to see SKID ROW on stage and we really started to miss it. We knew if we got back together, we were going to do things different."
He added, "When Johnny joined the band [in 1999], that really gave us a kick in the ass. It was a different guy there and everything that came out of that guy was positive."
On the topic of the persistent rumors of a reunion with Sebastian, Bolan said, "Actually, there were never any talks. Ever. That was all just total rumor. We got rid of him in the '90s and never looked back. . . After the first tour [with Solinger on vocals], it seemed like this is the way it's always been. It's so weird, I'll hear an old song on the radio and it just sounds so bizarre to me because I'm so used to Johnny singing it."

DEF LEPPARD Singer JOE ELLIOTT's DOWN 'N' OUTZ To Release 'The Further Adventures Of…' Album
DOWN 'N' OUTZ has announced the release of a brand new album "The Further Adventures Of…", which is the third instalment of the project fronted by DEF LEPPARD's lead singer Joe Elliott, and features tracks connected to MOTT THE HOOPLE.
The project was born in 2009 when MOTT THE HOOPLE reformed and asked longtime friend and fan Elliott to get involved. Joe formed the DOWN 'N' OUTZ with THE QUIREBOYS' Paul Guerin (guitar), Guy Griffin (guitar) and Keith Weir (keyboards), plus Phil Martin (drums). Together they looked to bring songs by MOTT THE HOOPLE and spin-off projects of MOTT, IAN HUNTER and BRITISH LIONS to a wider audience.
In 2009 DOWN 'N' OUTZ supported MOTT THE HOOPLE at one of the band's five Hammersmith Apollo shows, which garnered much interest with fans. The fan demand eventually led to the bandlooking to create an album. 2011 saw the release of the critically acclaimed debut "My Re-Generation" through Bludgeon Riffola via Mailboat Records (Joe Perry, Walter Becker, Chris Isaak, Jeff Bridges). "My Re-Generation" included the singles "England Rocks" and "Overnight Angels" that reached No. 4 and No. 1, respectively, on the U.S. Mediabase rock chart — keeping Eric Clapton's new single off the top of the chart for two weeks. The band then released a live DVD taken from those initial shows called "Live At Hammersmith Apollo".
DOWN 'N' OUTZ' new album, "The Further Adventures Of…", picks up where the live DVD left off and features the driving groove of album opener — and first single — "Rock And Roll Queen". The collection also includes the good time of rock 'n' roll tune "One Of The Boys", and ballad "The Journey", plus the drum-heavy song "Violence". The album was produced by Joe Elliott with co-production by Ronan McHugh. It was recorded at Joe Elliott's own studio Joe's Garage.
Elliott says: These songs make up a huge portion of who I am and I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to record them and hopefully give them a new lease of life, which, quite frankly, is long overdue." Morgan Fisher (keyboardist MOTT THE HOOPLE 1973/1974 and also MOTT and BRITISH LIONS) expresses: "It's like Joe and the boys have taken some vintage films and slapped them onto a big, bright Technicolor screen. A great, in-your-face new way to experience some of MOTT's finest songs!" Ian Hunter says: "I'm blown away by these recordings. The solo by Paul Guerin on 'The Journey' is one of the best I've heard. These songs really suit Joe's voice also. It's a whole different side to him and the project gets my approval!" After supporting MOTT THE HOOPLE in 2009, DOWN 'N' OUTZ played the main stage of inaugural High Voltage festival at Victoria Park, London during the summer of 2010. Following this memorable performance, they toured the U.K. as main support to Paul Rodgers in 2011. The band is currently working on live dates for 2014/2015. "The Further Adventures Of…" track listing:

SUBVERSION Signs With ROGUE RECORDS AMERICA
United Kingdom-based melodic technical metal band SUBVERSION has inked a two-album deal with Rogue Records America for publishing and distribution. "I remember hearing SUBVERSION a while back, actually putting them on one of our compilations 'Songs In The Key Of D' and thinking how much I'd love to work with them one day," says Rogue Records America owner Dean Martinetti. "Well, that day has finally come and I am super excited. Kai and the band have something special and we are really honored that they are sharing it with us." The band had this to say about the new relationship with Rogue: "SUBVERSION has been given an opportunity to grow in a way that we have been striving for since the band's inception. We are proud to be a part of such a passionate and caring label that shares the same vision for this band as we do. This is the start of something remarkable."
SUBVERSION is working on the follow-up full-length to the underground success "Least We Forget". They say: "We can't wait to get our hands on the next album as we know it's going to crush…expect big things from this band and expect a whole new way to get the album as well when its released." SUBVERSION has been tearing up the metal scene since 2010. Born of the mind of Kai Giritli (guitars, clean vocals) in 2008, SUBVERSION is a five-piece experimental metal band from Kent in the U.K. Featuring hard-hitting aggro vocals from Karl Harrigan, Kai's hook-filled clean vocals and guitar riffs that sway from heavy groove to epic melody, and extremely tight percussion from Ben Atkinson. Dabbling in the arts of odd time signatures combined with huge thought inducing soundscapes; this band is not afraid to push the boundaries of modern music and move away from the norm of any genre. SUBVERSION's first full-length release, "Lest We Forget" (2010), was critically acclaimed by Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Terrorizer and Rock Sound magazines. Singles such as "Treason", "Butchered" and "What We Are Entitled" received airtime on XFM, Total Rock and Radio 1 as well as various international stations across the world, securing SUBVERSION a slot on 2011's Euroblast festival in Germany. | 0

NONPOINT Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS
Metal Blade Records has announced that NONPOINT will join its global roster of artists. Metal Blade will serve as the label home for the band outside North America, where NONPOINT remains signed to Razor & Tie.
Since its debut album, "Statement", NONPOINT has done nothing but prove, record after record, they can still dominate stages and radio airwaves everywhere. Their most recent, self-titled release was their most critically acclaimed and landed them their two highest-charting singles. Now, with their recent signing to Metal Blade, they are making the biggest statement of their careers. They now want world domination.
"This is a dream situation for us," says NONPOINT vocalist Elias Soriano. "Just getting an offer from Metal Blade. We've always needed a team behind us outside of the U.S. It's a great feeling knowing you now have the best team possible."
Adds NONPOINT drummer Robb Rivera: "We are excited to not only get THE worldwide label of labels to release our album outside of the U.S., but to be part of a family now that has pretty much set the bar for metal releases for 30-plus years. Needless to say, [we are] extremely excited to be able to get our music to the fans outside of the U.S. through the team that helped launch METALLICA."
Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records adds: "All of us at Metal Blade are happy to welcome NONPOINT to the Metal Blade family. We are excited to work with them and the bit of new material I heard sounds great!!"
NONPOINT's eighth full-length album is scheduled for release this fall. The CD is being recorded at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago with Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, STAIND, MEGADETH) and Daniel Salcidoto.
Commented Elias Soriano, "It's great to be back in the studio with Johnny K.
"After the last record turned out so awesome, the way we saw it, why fix what ain't broke?
"Pre-production has gone smoothly and the songs luckily didn't seem to need a lot of work. So we're gonna get some ridiculous tones, play and sing our hearts out. We are going to have as much fun as we can doing it so hopefully that translates to the music."
NONPOINT's latest, self-titled album sold 7,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 62 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "Miracle" (2010), opened with around 8,000 units to land at No. 60.
"Nonpoint" was produced/mixed by Johnny K and featured additional production and mixing from Brian Virtue (30 SECONDS TO MARS, CHEVELLE).
NONPOINT's January 31 concert at Club Revolution in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was filmed for an upcoming DVD. | 0

SPLIT HEAVEN Announce Departure Of Guitarist Pedro Zelbohr
Mexican powerhouse SPLIT HEAVEN has checked in with the following:
“In these last few weeks Split Heaven and guitarist Pedro Zelbohr had to separate due to his personal reasons to carry out other goals in life. This was a big blow for us, but just that the flames of our heavy metal are becoming stronger and make us be more alive than ever.
Because of this, a new alignment has been formed and we want to announce and welcome our friend Pablo Ollervides as new bassist of the band, leaving the position of guitarist for Carlo "Taii" Hernández who acted as bassist since the beginning of Split Heaven. Tomas Roitman will continue destroying the battery, Armand "Hank" Ramos bleeding our ears with his guitar and Giancarlo Farjat riffs will never cease to gritaaaar!
So let us rock and shake our heads because: the heavy metal will never die!”

MOTÖRHEAD: 'Crying Shame' Lyric Video Released
The official lyric video for the song "Crying Shame" from MOTÖRHEAD can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's 21st studio album, "Aftershock", which sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart.
MOTÖRHEAD's previous CD, 2011's "The Wörld Is Yours", opened with 7,000 units to enter the chart at No. 94. The band's 2008 effort, "Motörizer", premiered with 6,400 copies to debut at No. 82, while 2006's "Kiss Of Death" registered a first-week tally of 3,500.
"Aftershock" was recorded at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, California and is described in a press release as "a true leveler, a crushing confirmation of everything MOTÖRHEAD stands for, marching from the dust storm to deliver 14 belting statements which see MOTÖRHEAD in perhaps their best writing form for years. There's swagger, there's punch, there's speed and there's dirty filthy grooves, Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee showing clearly that MOTÖRHEAD is not simply a band, it's a genre!"
"Aftershock" track listing:
01. Heartbreaker02. Coup De Grace03. Lost Woman Blues04. End Of Time05. Do You Believe06. Death Machine07. Dust And Glass08. Going To Mexico09. Silence When You Speak To Me10. Crying Shame11. Queen Of The Damned12. Knife13. Keep Your Powder Dry14. Paralyzed
The "Heartbreaker" video can be seen below (courtesy of RollingStone.com). The clip incorporates concert footage from last year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards ceremony in the U.K., a 2010 Manchester gig and several 2011 shows (including Rock In Rio, Germany's Wacken Open Air Festival and Teatro Caupolicán in Santiago, Chile). Fans who hang on for the credits at the end of "Heartbreaker" may be surprised to learn that the video's sketch art was created by frontman Lemmy Kilmister.
MOTÖRHEAD canceled a handful of shows on its European festival tour in August 2013 after Lemmy suffered a haematoma (where blood collects outside of a blood vessel). The news of Lemmy's latest medical issue followed reports that he was also fitted with a defibrillator because of heart problems. The band also postponed a European headlining tour which was scheduled to kick off in November. | 0

THE AGONIST: First Photo Of New Lineup Released
Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based melodic death metallers THE AGONIST have released their first group photo featuring new vocalist Vicky Psarakis. The band tapped acclaimed photographer Von Wong to bring its new single, "Disconnect Me", to life.
THE AGONIST guitarist Danny Marino says: "After working with Von Wong on our 'Prisoners' photo shoot, we knew he was the only one that could realize our vision for 'Disconnect Me'. It was an 18-hour shoot, but at the end of the day it was more than we could have hoped for."
The official lyric video for "Disconnect Me" can be seen below.
THE AGONIST last week announced the addition of Vicky Psarakis to the group's ranks. Vicky joined THE AGONIST as the replacement for Alissa White-Gluz, who left the band to focus on her new gig as the frontwoman of ARCH ENEMY.
Commented THE AGONIST in a statement: "We announce that after three albums and countless tours, we officially part ways with vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. We wish Alissa all the best with ARCH ENEMY and her future endeavors.
"It is the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for THE AGONIST! We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to the THE AGONIST family. Please give a warm welcome to very talented vocalist Vicky Psarakis!"
THE AGONIST's third album, "Prisoners", debuted at No. 19 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Prisoners", was released on June 4, 2012 in Europe and June 5, 2012 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was produced by Christian Donaldson (CRYPTOPSY) and mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, DARK TRANQUILLITY, SUICIDE SILENCE) and it "picks right up where 2009's 'Lullabies For The Dormant Mind' left off, with soaring melodies over complex metal passages that fans of thinking-man's metal can appreciate," according to a press release. | 0

HELLOWEEN – back home again
Germany’s HELLOWEEN have been one of the most influential and internationally most successful acts of the global Heavy Metal scene and this year the Hamburg-based quintet, founded in 1984, celebrates their 30th anniversary. Their latest studio album »Straight Out Of Hell«, charted at a sensational #4, their highest German chart entry to date, holding this position for five long weeks. Additionally they made another five top ten entries in Europe and also cracked the US Billboard Charts.
Now HELLOWEEN return to their old label home Nuclear Blast, where they released two albums - »The Dark Ride« (2000) and »Rabbit Don’t Come Easy« (2003), both of which have just been re-issued with extended bonus material.
Nuclear Blast are overwhelmed to bring the band back into the fold: “We are more than proud, that HELLOWEEN is part of the Nuclear Blast family again,” Label owner Markus Staiger announces. “All those years we had a friendship-like connection and ways crossed on a regular basis at concerts and festivals. HELLOWEEN to us is a matter of the heart, there’s not only the two records to mention, but an act that influenced me and many of our employees. Together there are big plans and we are looking forward to having another productive and successful cooperation.”
The band itself are equally celebratory. Vocalist Andi Deris: “As a label, Nuclear Blast is “Heavy Metal to the bone”, and we are really looking forward to working together with a lot of familiar faces.”
HELLOWEEN are currently busy working on the successor to »Straight Out Of Hell«, that saw the founders of German Melodic Speed Metals playing a total of 84 shows in 34 different countries. After summer, the band will hit the MiSueno Studio on the isle of Tenerife with producer Charlie Bauerfeind (GOTTHARD, HAMMERFALL etc.) to record a new album set to be released in early 2015.

Is this the prelude for Judgement Day...
Following the release of the debut album "The Land of New Hope", the "Metal Opera" was met with critical and fan acclaim, entering the national album charts in seven European countries, including a Top 10 entry in Tolkki's home country, Finland. In August 2013, Tolkki flew to Greece to seek the right inspiration for the follow-up album and upon his return he managed to develop a sound that is even more grandiose and symphonic and yet heavier and darker in direction as compared to the debut album.
"In August 2012, I planned to release a Metal Opera that had to be a trilogy," says Tolkki.
"I am following a specific storyboard in a musical format and this time the musical direction is heavier and darker than the previous AVALON. This was deliberate since the Apocalyptic scenes described in the lyrics demanded that".
As for the players on the album, Tolkki finally managed to reunite the legendary STRATOVARIUS "Dreamspace" lineup, calling Antti Ikonen and Tuomo Lassila to play keyboards and drums respectively. "It was really nice and brought good vibes and freshness to the album," says Timo. "Definitely the right move."
The amazing cast of vocalists appearing this time includes NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen — who takes care of the lead vocals on the first single, "Design The Century" — along with Simone Simons (EPICA), Fabio Lione (RHAPSODY OF FIRE), David DeFeis (VIRGIN STEELE), Zachary Stevens (ex-SAVATAGE, CIRCLE II CIRCLE), plus Elize Ryd (AMARANTHE) — who appears again after contributing to the first album — and the stunning Chilean singer Caterina Nix, who is working on her debut album, which is also produced by Tolkki.
"Some songs were written with a specific singer in mind, while for some others I decided based on the knowledge that I had on how he or she would perform," says Tolkki.
"I am particularly happy of how this record sounds especially two songs, 'You'll Bleed Forever' and the 10-minute title track, are among my favorite ever."
Once again the stunning artwork is provided by the French artist Stanis W. Decker and the first pressing of the physical edition will be available in a glossy digipak.
"Angels Of The Apocalypse" final track listing:
01. Song For Eden02. Jerusalem Is Falling03. Design The Century04. Rise Of The 4th Reich05. Stargate Atlantis06. You'll Bleed Forever07. The Paradise Lost08. Neon Sirens09. High Above Of Me10. AMORAL: 'Blueprints' Video Released
Finnish heavy rockers AMORAL will release their new album, "Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows", on March 31 via Graphite Records. It is the band's first release on U.K. label Graphite, having previously been signed to Spinefarm.
The official video for the song "Blueprints" can be seen below.
In 2011, AMORAL – bored by the limiting genre definitions offered to them to describe the band's sound — started calling their music "classic rock of the 21st Century." Sure, the tongues were firmly on their cheeks, but there definitely were some valid points to the new, self-appointed title. If the likes of PINK FLOYD, LED ZEPPELIN, QUEEN and BLACK SABBATH could all venture into many different paths musically under the moniker of classic rock, then AMORAL could simply not settle for any less.
The title has never been more appropriate than on the band's sixth album: "Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows". After 2011's "Beneath", with its rave reviews, great fan response and a tour that took the band everywhere from Europe to Japan, with debut shows in the USA and China, AMORAL had a clear vision of what it wanted to do on the next album.
"Very early on in the writing process, we noticed we were leaning towards lengthier, 'proggy-er' songs, in the vein of 'Beneath''s title track. Those type of songs were the ones we enjoyed playing the most on the 'Beneath' tour, and the ones where we felt the band was at its best. So it felt natural to try and focus on these aspects for the next album," says Ben Varon, guitarist and founding member of AMORAL, who also acted as producer on "Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows".
"Another defining guideline came to me a bit later, but made perfect sense with the material we were coming up with: this was to be a concept album. Not only were my lyrical ideas already intervening together, but the songs themselves were starting to paint a bigger picture."
In its simplest form, "Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows" is about that one big mistake that cannot be undone.
"People like the idea of second chances, but sometimes that's simply not an option. There are points of no return, decisions you can never undo. You can read into the lyrics as a tale of a drug addict, a relationship gone horribly wrong, longing for days past, fear of getting old... the latter two are probably the ones hitting closest to home for me," Varon chuckles.
While Varon was responsible for the lyrics, writing the music was a fruitful collaboration between him and guitarist Masi Hukari, who joined the group just before the recording of "Beneath" in 2010.
"It was great to have Masi there from the very beginning of the writing this time around," Ben says.
"Some of the best moments on the album were written together, feeding off each others ideas. 'Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows' also has our bassist Pexi (Pekka Johansson) chipping in with the writing for the first time, which is really cool."
Another first this time around is a collaboration many years in the works. Ever since singer Ari Koivunen joined AMORAL in 2008, there has been talks of Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH, TAROT) producing the vocals on an AMORAL album. With the idea sabotaged by schedule clashes on the last two albums, Marco was finally available to oversee the vocal sessions for "Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows". Ben and Ari spent a week at Marco's home studio in Kuopio, and the stress-free environment and Hietala's input resulted in some of the best vocal performances heard from Koivunen to date.
"Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows" track listing:
01. On The Other Side Pt. I (7:14)02. No Familiar Faces (4:07)03. Prolong A Stay (7:39)04. Blueprints (4:20)05. If Not Here, Where? (9:15)06. The Storm Arrives (6:25)07. See This Through (6:39)08. On The Other Side Pt. II (9:14)
AMORAL is:
Ari Koivunen (RASKASTA JOULUA) - VocalsBen Varon (GREASE HELMET) - GuitarMasi Hukari - GuitarPekka Johansson - BassJuhana Karlsson (SHEAR) - Drums

DELAIN: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Tour Kick-Off
Fan-filmed video footage of DELAIN's March 21 concert at Hedon in Zwolle, The Netherlands can be seen below.
"The Human Contradiction", the new album from DELAIN, will be released via Napalm Records on the following dates:
Germany, Austria, Switzerland, April 4Rest of Europe: April 7USA, Canada: April 8
"The Human Contradiction" track listing:
01. Here Come The Vultures02. Your Body Is A Battleground03. Stardust04. My Masquerade05. Tell Me, Mechanist06. Sing To Me07. Army Of Dolls08. Lullaby09. The Tragedy Of The Commons
The CD once again features a guest appearance by Marco Hietala of NIGHTWISH and TAROT; George Oosthoek (ex-ORPHANAGE); and THE AGONIST vocalist Alissa White-Gluz.
In a recent interview with Sonic Cathedral, Charlotte stated about DELAIN's "heavier" direction on "The Human Contradiction": "It is just how it evolved. I have been thinking about this because I know 'We Are The Others'… Well, I regard it actually as a very heavy record, but maybe that is more in the production than in the songs themselves. I have been thinking that maybe it has to do with the fact that, when we were at Warner, they were kind of pushing us to have a commercial mainstream single and stuff. Our solution was: 'Okay, we'll make a single version out of one song. We will make sure we like the single version, but we'll keep the album untouched as it is.' So I did not have a feeling that we were not trying to be heavy on our previous album. But yeah, there are a lot of things in there which are heavy. It also just has to do with the situations that we find ourselves in. The fact that we have toured for a month with Alissa contributes greatly to the fact that we asked her to sing on this record.
"People often ask me: 'Would you do something different if you would make that album again?' But I think that an album is also significant for the time and place that you are, as a band, at that moment.
"A lot of the choices were given by this time and this place that we found ourselves in when making this record, although we always want to have the fattest riffs and the heaviest sounds. Why it is here more heavily than on previous records? Yeah, it could have something to do with the way we went about having all these things back in our own hands, but I also think that a lot of it is just inspiration coming as it comes. Some things don't even let themselves be steered in a way like that."
Charlotte also spoke about the lyrical themes covered on "The Human Contradiction". She said: "The idea behind 'The Human Contradiction' is basically the contradiction which is talked about in this great work that I shamelessly stole this title from. The book is called 'Lilith's Brood' by Octavia E. Butler. The human contradiction there is explained as the combination of qualities in humans: we are both intelligent and hierarchic. Within this book, it is also explained that the most successful life forms, which are intelligent, are not hierarchic. Actually, this hierarchic aspect causes us to rank people over other people (or species over other species) and to pick random qualities in order to justify as ranking one over the other. This kind of very, very random selecting and ranking and dismissing of otherness is a very destructive (and often self-destructive) attitude, and this is how it broadens on the topic which was first introduced on 'We Are The Others' within the song 'We Are The Others', which was very much about 'otherness' within human beings. On this record, there are also songs that are about human attitudes towards non-human others, which (just as with human beings) are often picked by a random quality. For example, in our attitudes towards animals, it is the random quality of species that tells us: 'Well, we can hurt an animal, but not a human.' When actually, in our ability to feel pain, we are completely equal. So, it's about the randomness of the qualities that we pick, and then decide 'this one is higher than the other.'
"I have been obsessing about all these topics of otherness for the last couple of years, so it was bound to find its way into lyrics at one point or another, and it does in multiple songs on this new record. So I thought that 'The Human Contradiction' was a beautiful over-arching concept to tie that together." | 0

Following hesitant first steps, Ferd commenced a quest for hyperboreal purity, concluding with Yearning, thus shedding all flesh and past wanderings. Now the yonder beckons a final journey towards the Northern blaze - a horizon of ashes and frost.”

Swedish rock act WE ARE THE CATALYST follow-up the success of their last video, 'Tomorrow' (directed by Grzegorz Jonkajtys, the extraordinary visual effects artist famous for his work on such epic movies as Transformers, Pacific Rim, Terminator Salvation, Star Trek Into Darkness and Sin City), with their new clip, for the track 'Being Number One'.
The song brings to the forefront modern societies obsession with being the biggest, the fastest and the best. 'Being Number One' challenges the need to have the newest and the latest, but in this video the topic is taken to the next level.
"Our management secured an amazing partnership with Stephan Zlotescu and we have ended up with an incredible video that really connects the lyrics and meaning of the song with some outstanding visuals", said Catrin Feymark, vocalist and co-writer from WATC.
'Being Number One' is the final single from the bands EP Panem Et Circenses, which was released on May 2nd, 2013 and signifies the run in to the release of the bands debut album carrying the working title of Believe In Everything Because Everyone's Right, due out later in the year
"The new album is really taking shape", added Kenny Boufadene. "We have the final 13 tracks selected and are half way through re recording the release ready versions. Some of the tracks have been picked up by some major movie producers and will be featured on several movies later in the year which is pretty exciting when you consider our last single has also been picked up for 4 soundtracks. Additionally our management is in talks with numerous parties for overseas shows so it's looking like an exciting year ahead."
