KORN Frontman Confirms ROADRUNNER Deal
 KORN frontman Jonathan Davis was interviewed on today's edition of "The Morning After" show, which airs on the Boise, Idaho radio station KQXR 100.3 The X Rocks. During the nine-minute chat, which can be heard using the audio player below, Davis confirmed that KORN has signed a deal with Roadrunner Records and explained the band's decision to work with another record label after contemplating going the independent route for its next album.
The news of KORN's new deal with Roadrunner was first revealed by guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer during an online chat with fans on Tuesday night (March 23).
KORN's ninth studio album, tentatively titled "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", is due this summer. The CD marks the return of producer Ross Robinson, who worked with KORN on the band's first two releases, "Korn" and "Life is Peachy". Davis has said that the new material matches the pure raw emotion of KORN's early releases while the current touring band has never been tighter.
"We experimented with a lot of cool stuff on our last two records [2005's 'See You On The Other Side' and 2007's untitled effort], but we didn't want to do another record like that," Davis explained to Revolver magazine. "So we said, 'Let's strip it back again. Let's do this as a four-piece and make it real raw like the old stuff."
KORN's forthcoming effort was tracked last October at the band's studio. "We recorded everything on tape, just like we did in the old days," said Davis. "And we didn't stack four or five vocal parts like I usually do. I'm singing one part for every song, which was scary. It's just me and the microphone, and you can really hear the emotion."

LEAVES\' EYES Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
 LEAVES' EYES — the German/Norwegian band formed by ex-THEATRE OF TRAGEDY singer Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull and members of ATROCITY — kicked off its European tour with KAMELOT and ADAGIO yesterday (Thursday, March 25) in Charleroi, Belgium. This show marked the live debut of the new LEAVES' EYES drummer Roland Navratil, who previously played with EDENBRIDGE, SIRENIA and DIGNITY. Roland was enlisted by LEAVES' EYES and ATROCITY after the two bands made the decision to part ways with Chris "Seven" Antonopoulos (formerly of OPIATE FOR THE MASSES).
Commented Roland: "First of all, I like the diversity of both bands, ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES.
"I listen to a lot of different music and was blown away by the 'Werk 80' CD of ATROCITY. So-called 'female-fronted' metal bands were always a favorite kind of music of myself, too. That's why I know a lot about Liv and her music and the band LEAVES' EYES.
"I love to play songs like 'Elegy', 'Emerald Island' or the new smasher 'At Heaven's End'!
"The first time I met Alex was years ago when ATROCITY played in Vienna. I met them and Liv again back in 2005 when I was playing in Germany. As I was on the 'Beauty and the Beast Tour' as a session drummer for SIRENIA, it was very cool to tour with both bands, ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES.
"I was excited as they asked me, if I would like to play with them because we had a lot of fun on tour last fall.

TRISTANIA Is Back With NAPALM RECORDS
 Norwegian gothic metallers TRISTANIA have signed a new deal with Austria's Napalm Records. The band is currently putting the finishing touches on a new album for a summer release. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Vulture", "Patriot Games", "Year of the Rat", "The Emerald Piper" and "Sirens".
Commented the group in a statement: "We're happy to say that TRISTANIA has reunited forces with Napalm Records. TRISTANIA is back where it all started 13 years ago, and we are looking forward to work together with Napalm again.
"Our new album is completely recorded, and at the moment only mixing and mastering remains. We are totally enthusiastic about it, and feel that this album will appeal to those of you who have followed us through the years. True to tradition, the new album will also bring along several surprises and elements that are new in our musical universe. Five different singers will appear on the album, and we have already announced that Pete Johansen contributes with his brilliant violin playing — for the first time since 'World of Glass' in 2001.
"We are really looking forward to share this album with you guys."
TRISTANIA last year announced the addition of guitarist Gyri Losnegård to the group's ranks.
The band played a couple of shows last summer with guest vocalist Kjetil Nordhus (ex-GREEN CARNATION, TRAIL OF TEARS) filling in for Østen Bergøy, including last year's Wacken Open Air festival, which was held July 30 - August 1, 2009 in Wacken, Germany
TRISTANIA in 2007 announced the addition of Italian singer Mariangela "Mary" Demurtas to the group's ranks.
The band's last album, "Illumination", was released in January 2007 via SPV. The CD was recorded at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Germany with producer Waldemar Sorychta (LACUNA COIL, TIAMAT, GRIP INC.).

ACCEPT: New Song Sample Available
 "The Abyss", a brand new song from reformed heavy metal legends ACCEPT, was premiered on Eddie Trunk's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show last week on New York's Q104.3 FM and then again on KNAC.COM's "The Vault" this past Sunday, March 21 with host DJ Will.
A reduced-quality, incomplete version of the track is now available for streaming in the YouTube clip below (as recorded off the KNAC.COM online stream).
Following their eagerly awaited return to the live stage at the almost-sold-out Gramercy Theatre in New York City, ACCEPT will be heading to Europe to perform special shows in carefully handpicked venues in various European capitals.
ACCEPT has chosen to play these publicity concerts in small, intimate settings to get close to its longtime fans.
After a decade-long absence, ACCEPT wants to make this a special "thank you" to its European fans, who will be able to attend specially arranged meet-and-greet sessions at each of these shows. In addition, the band will be available for autograph sessions, photo opportunities and interviews during this short trek.

Rumors surrounding these shows have started to pop up all over the Internet due to the exceptionally high anticipation around the world to hear and see the new ACCEPT lineup — featuring the band's latest addition, vocalist Mark Tornillo (ex-TT QUICK) — perform.
In an effort to keep the arrangements a surprise for the fans, ACCEPT has had a difficult time lining up these concerts. Only one or two shows per country will be finalized and not all nations will be included as ACCEPT has a very limited amount of time available before it focuses on promoting its upcoming comeback album.
Following the CD's release and the intimate European "fan-focused" shows, preparations for a full-fledged world tour will start this summer.
"We can't wait to go out and play again," said bassist Peter Baltes. "Just because [former ACCEPT singer] Udo Dirkschneider isn't available to take part in the reunion doesn't mean we'll have to sit idle any longer. We feel Mark is the perfect fit. Mark is an experienced veteran singer who is aware of the ACCEPT legacy and his voice fits the sound of ACCEPT perfectly.
"Wolf [Hoffmann, guitar] and I have always been the songwriting team — most of the classic ACCEPT tunes were written that way; together with Deaffy, a.k.a. Gaby Hoffmann, as a lyricist."
ACCEPT recently completed recording its new album, tentatively titled "Blood Of Nations", at Backstage Studio in Derbyshire, England with acclaimed British producer and SABBAT guitarist Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE). The CD — which will mark the recording debut of Tornillo — will include around 14 tracks and be released before the summer via an as-yet-undetermined record label. Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Shades Of Death", "Blood Of Nations", "Pandemic" and "Teutonic Terror".
Regarding Tornillo's addition to ACCEPT, Hoffmann previously said, "It all happened in minutes. Peter and I were working on some tunes in a studio in New Jersey. Somebody suggested we give this guy Mark a call to see if he would join us on vocals. So when he arrived we started jamming on some old ACCEPT tunes — just for fun. As soon as Mark started singing we looked at each other and realized the impossible just happened: we found a new voice for ACCEPT! The timing could not have been better! Now or never... We are re-energized and excited..."
TT QUICK was a popular club band during the 1980s in the New York and New Jersey area and was known for the guitar work of David Dipietro and the powerful vocals of Mark Tornillo. Dipietro's skills were especially singled out as he had given lessons to both Zakk Wylde of the OZZY OSBOURNE band and SKID ROW's Dave Sabo.
TT QUICK disbanded and later reunited sporadically and released a few more albums, including a live CD from one of their reunion gigs ("Thrown Together Live") and a studio effort, "Ink", which came out in 2000.

"Omen" was recorded at Edge Of The Earth studios in Hollywood, California with co-producer Logan Mader (MACHINE HEAD, DIVINE HERESY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, GOJIRA, DEVILDRIVER) and it features guest appearances by THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN frontman Greg Puciato and PRONG mainman Tommy Victor.
Of the collaborations, guitarist/vocalist Max Cavalera says, "The first one is a song with Tommy Victor from PRONG sharing vocals on a song called 'Lethal Injection'. The other is 'Rise Of The Fallen', with shared vocals from Greg Puciato, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's singer. I also recorded two B-sides with both of my sons playing drums. Igor Cavalera plays on EXCEL's 'Your Life, My Life', and Zyon Cavalera plays on SEPULTURA's 'Refuse/Resist' cover."
In a recent interview with the Metal Assault web site, SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo stated about "Omen", "It's right to the point. There's a real hardcore, punk vibe to the record. Short tunes. This record is kind of different for us and I think the fans are going to like it a lot."
SOULFLY filmed a video for the song "Rise Of The Fallen" during the band's March 17, 2010 live performance at the Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, New York. Directing the clip was Dale "Rage" Resteghini, who has helmed over 550 music videos since 2003, including clips for such metal bands as MUDVAYNE, HATEBREED, ANTHRAX, and SHADOWS FALL. Rage has also directed videos for some of the biggest names in the hip hop world, including Lil Wayne, Diddy, Snoop Dog, and Ice Cube.

CHARON: Demo Version Of New Song Posted Online
 Finnish gothic metallers CHARON have uploaded a demo version of a new song, "The Cure", to their MySpace page. It can also be heard in the YouTube clip below.
CHARON recently parted ways with guitarist Pasi Sipilä. The rest of the band is continuing to play and write songs as a quartet. The group recently said, "At the moment we are looking forward to new working methods and finding new ways to surprise our fans and to challenge bandmates with no boundaries on style or sound."
CHARON's latest CD, "Songs for the Sinners", debuted on Finland's national album chart at position No. 6 back in September 2005. The follow-up to 2003's "The Dying Daylights" was recorded at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki with producer Mikko Karmila.

THESE ARE THEY: \'Blood Vengeance\' Video Released
 "Blood Vengeance", the new video from THESE ARE THEY — the Chicago-based death metal band featuring vocalist Paul Kuhr (NOVEMBERS DOOM), guitarist Steve Nicholson (ex-NOVEMBERS DOOM), bassist Wiley Wells (EARTHEN) and drummer Sasha Horn (TRIALS) — can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Raymond Boykin, who previously helmed the NOVEMBERS DOOM video for "Rain". The video was shot in an old lodge on a lake in Antioch, Illinois in a single afternoon. "Blood Vengeance" is described by guitarist Steve Nicholson as, "The wood, the stonework and the mist truly give the feel of an early 19th century lodge. Telling a tale of Native Americans who mixed their blood with early settlers to escape removal from their homeland, and the look of the video fits the story well. The frenzied anger in the performance and the history told is a true tribute."
"Blood Vengeance" comes off THESE ARE THEY's full-length debut, "Who Linger", which was released last November via Unruly Sounds/The End Records.
Thirteen years after departing NOVEMBERS DOOM, Nicholson reunited with Kuhr in 2008 in order to create something new and fresh. With the help of Wells, along with good friends Mike LeGros (DISINTER, EARTHEN) and drummer Evan Berry, a musical style was chosen, material was written, and THESE ARE THEY recorded its debut EP.
Guitar-driven, downtuned and powerful, the material is old-school Chicago death metal with flashes of BOLT THROWER, OBITUARY, and ENTOMBED and contains more headbanging hook than you can shake a fist at.
Paying tribute to the bands that have paved the way with their greatness, THESE ARE THEY will follow with their own take on a style of death metal that to this day has no equal in hook, power, and brutality.

KINGDOM OF SORROW: New Album Title, Release Date Revealed
 KINGDOM OF SORROW, the metal project created by Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) and Kirk Windstein (DOWN, CROWBAR), will release its second album, "Behind The Blackest Tears", in the U.S. on June 8 via Relapse Records. The CD was was recorded at Dexter Lab Recordings in Milford, Connecticut with engineer Nick Bellmore and was mixed and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris at Planet Z Recordings in Hadley, Massachusetts.
Commented Jasta: "I'm really excited about the KINGDOM OF SORROW album because I feel like I really went all out this time. I love the first album but I brought way better riffs to the table this time and really brought a different vocal style on a lot of tracks. I think this new album is much more memorable and that the songs are really catchy but still heavy and raw.

MIRROR OF DECEPTION To Enter Studio Next Week

CANDLEMASS: \'Ashes To Ashes - Live\' DVD Trailer Available
 Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS will release a new DVD, "Ashes To Ashes - Live", in North America on June 29 via Nuclear Blast Records (April 23 in Europe). The set will contain footage of the band's performance at last year's Sweden Rock Festival in front of 30,000 people as well as CANDLEMASS' entire October 2009 concert in Athens, Greece. it will also include a 30-minute interview and two photo galleries. The DVD will be released as a CD+DVD, with the Sweden Rock show as the audio CD. For the die-hard fans, Nuclear Blast is putting two sets of double vinyl together (one set Sweden Rock Festival, one set Athens), limited edition (1,000 copies each).

TEXTURES Announces New Singer
 Dutch progressive metallers TEXTURES have announced the addition of vocalist Daniel de Jongh (ex-CILICE; pictured below) to the group's ranks.
Commented the band in a statement: "It was really hard for us to part ways with Eric [Kalsbeek]. Emotionally and musically. But Daniel gives us more than enough reasons to prolong our career, more hyped up than ever before. His experience, personality, musical taste and of course his awesome vocal skills make us see the future like a first spring morning after a severe winter darkness."
Added Daniel: "I am truly honored to have been asked to replace Eric as vocalist for TEXTURES.
"TEXTURES is a standout band and is a band which I've listened to the last couple of years, like so many other metal fans out there.

PURIFIED IN BLOOD To Release New Album In June
 Under Black Skies, the second full album from Norwegian sextet PURIFIED IN BLOOD, is set to be released on June 7th via Spinefarm Records UK.
The follow-up to Reaper Of Souls (2006), this 11-track outing has been produced by Ashley Stubbert (a US producer/engineer/mixer who moved to Norway two years ago) in the band’s hometown of Stavanger, and mixed by Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS, BOTCH) over in Seattle.
Since first coming together in 2003, PIB have toured throughout Europe and the US, shared stages with the likes of SLAYER, Mastodon and IN FLAMES, and picked up the occasional award along the way (i.e. the Alarm Award for Best Live Act in 2006).
Now, the six are back with a new album that, in the words of guitarist Tommy Svela, “reflects a decade of terror and decay. It drags you down and rips you apart.

NEVERMORE: \'The Obsidian Conspiracy\' Artwork Unveiled
 Century Media Records has set a May 31 European release date (June 8 in North America) for "The Obsidian Conspiracy", the long-awaited new album from Seattle metallers NEVERMORE.
The drum tracks for "The Obsidian Conspiracy" were completed in the group's hometown of Seattle with SOILWORK guitarist Peter Wichers, who previously worked with Dane on the singer's solo debut, "Praises to the War Machine". Longtime friend and collaborator Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ARCH ENEMY, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD) once again handled mixing duties.
The captivating and dynamic cover art was once again created by the great Travis Smith (OPETH, KATATONIA) and can be viewed now in the video clip below.

FATALIST: New Lineup Announced

SEPULTURA Frontman's MUSICA DIABLO: New Song Posted Online Posted Online
 MUSICA DIABLO — the São Paulo, Brazil-based thrash metal project featuring SEPULTURA singer Derrick Green, guitarist André L.A. (NITROMINDS), bassist Ricardo Brigas, guitarist André Germani Curci (KORZUS, THREAT) and drummer Edu Nicollini (NITROMINDS) — will release its debut album on May 28 via SAOL / H'Art / Zebralution. The band spent the month of January recording 11 songs for the effort. A track from the CD, "Underlord", is now available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

M.A.N: \'Logocide\' Video Available
 "Logocide", the new video from M.A.N — the group formed out of the ashes of Sweden's TRANSPORT LEAGUE (featuring former MNEMIC frontman Tony Jelencovich) — can be viewed below. The clip was filmed the weekend of February 13-14 at Redbergs Theatre in Gothenburg with director Gabriel Engberg, who previously worked with the band on the videos for "Blood Vanish " and the BOB MARLEY cover "Get Up, Stand Up".
"Logocide" comes off M.A.N's third album, "Massive Audio Nerve", which will be released on March 26 via the German label Tiefdruck Musik. The CD was recorded at Grand Recordings in Gothenburg, Sweden with engineer Svein Jensen and was mixed by Ulrich Wild, who has previously worked with WHITE ZOMBIE, STAIND, STATIC-X, DEFTONES, PANTERA and LIMP BIZKIT, among others. The mastering was handled by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering in Encino, California. The band states, "The sound is insanily good; we are very VERY happy with the outcome."

DISTURBED Celebrates 10 Years Of \'Sickness\'
 The Pulse of Radio reports: DISTURBED reissues its debut album, "The Sickness", on Tuesday (March 23) in a special 10th anniversary expanded edition. The album was originally released in March 2000 and remains DISTURBED's biggest-selling disc, with four million copies sold. The CD contained the singles "Stupify", "Voices" and "Down With the Sickness", which is the seventh most downloaded track of the last decade. Guitarist Dan Donegan told The Pulse of Radio that the band never expected the song or album to do as well as it did. "I think 'Down With The Sickness' was like the seventh most downloaded song that was recorded in the '90s," he said. "It was like in a list of like four MICHAEL JACKSON songs and NIRVANA's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and we were in the Top 10 of those songs. And I was just blown away by those statistics. Those are big numbers there. I mean, we're just overwhelmed to think that we could go from a garage band in the south side of Chicago to selling a lot of albums and having a fan base and making a career out of it."
The 10th anniversary package features two previously unreleased bonus tracks and expanded artwork. It's also available on vinyl for the first time ever.
The band has also re-launched its web site with a special section, accessible only by a code included with new copies of "The Sickness", that will feature clips of the quartet in the studio recording their upcoming fifth album, due out later this year.
A DVD, possibly the "Decade of Disturbed" package that the band has hinted at in interviews, is also slated to arrive sometime in 2010. | 0 | |

SLASH: New Song Available For Free Download
The song "Watch This" from legendary guitarist Slash's (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash", is available for free download using the widget below. The track features guest appearances by Dave Grohl (NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS) and Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER).
In a recent interview with MusicRadar.com, Slash stated about the song, "I wrote the basic parts and I had sort of a loose arrangement, but this was definitely the loosest song of the bunch, and having Dave there, who is such a dynamic drummer — I'd never actually worked with him but I'm very familiar with his drumming — and with Duff there too, they're both very creative so I knew we could throw this together.
"I didn't want it to be epic, I wanted it to be three minutes long, and it came together very quickly with a very spontaneous, live kind of vibe. Actually, I tried to get Dave to sing it, but he wouldn't sing it, so I just said fuck it, we'll put guitars on it. He was adamant about not singing, he was like, I just wanna play drums, and he's a fucking phenomenal drummer."

CANNIBAL CORPSE: \'Priests Of Sodom\' Video Released
 "Priests Of Sodom", the new video from Florida-based death metallers CANNIBAL CORPSE, can be viewed below.
Commented bassist Alex Webster: "We had a great time working with [director] Kevin Custer [HATEBREED, TESTAMENT, SUFFOCATION, OVERKILL] on the 'Priests of Sodom' video; he was totally professional and really seemed to understand what to do with our music. He brought a lot of cool new ideas to the table, ideas that may very well make this our most intense video yet."
"Priests Of Sodom"'s lyrics can be found in the Vince Locke-illustrated CANNIBAL CORPSE "Evisceration Plague" 96-page graphic novel, which is still available in VERY limited quantities.
CANNIBAL CORPSE is gearing up to hit the road on the band's first headline run since it appeared on the Hot Topic stage on 2009's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Joining CANNIBAL CORPSE on "The Evisceration Plague Tour" are SKELETONWITCH, LECHEROUS NOCTURNE and 1349 on select dates.
"The Evisceration Plague Tour" kicks off on Tuesday, April 20 in Orlando, Florida and finishes up in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, May 15.

ATREYU: \'Lonely\' Video Released
 "Lonely", the new video from Orange County, California's ATREYU, can be viewed below. The clip, which is described as "part live and part cinema vérité, depicting touring life both on and off the stage," was filmed in January in Tokyo, Japan with director Sean Stiegemeier, who first worked with ATREYU on 2003's "Lip Gloss in Black" and has shot numerous vids for the band, including last year's special effects-filled "Storm to Pass".
"He did the live video for 'Doomsday', which was more for European release," drummer Brandon Saller told AOL's Noisecreep. "The way he captured touring in that video was perfect. So [we wanted] to do something similar, but make it extraordinary because [we were] in Japan. There are so many beautiful things and different looking locations."
"Lonely" comes off ATREYU's latest album, "Congregation of the Damned", which sold 26,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD, produced by Bob Marlette (OZZY OSBOURNE), mixed by Rich Costey (THE MARS VOLTA, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE) with select tracks mixed by Noah Shain (ENDLESS HALLWAY, SONNY), is the follow-up to 2007's "Lead Sails Paper Anchor", which was fueled by the Top 5 Active Rock hit "Becoming The Bull" and the #2-charting Alternative Rock hit "Falling Down".
