1349: \'Demonoir\' Limited-Edition Artwork Unveiled

Norwegian black metallers 1349 will release their new album, "Demonoir", on April 26 in Europe via Indie Recordings and one day later in North America through Prosthetic Records.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Tunnel of Set - I
02. Atomic Chapel
03. Tunnel II
04. When I Was Flesh
05. Tunnel III
06. Psalm 7:77
07. Tunnel IV
08. Pandemonium War Bells
09. Tunnel V
10. The Devil of the Deserts
11. Tunnel VI
12. Demonoir
13. Tunnel VII

"Demonoir" will be available in North America as a digipack CD and a limited-edition 12-inch picture-disc LP.

Check out the cover artwork for the U.S. edition / European limited digipack edition and the European standard edition here.

According to a press release, "Demonoir" is "without a shadow of a doubt 1349's darkest, most sinister and brutal work to date, and in this case it comes to mean that the band has gone from the utterly extreme to the genre-expanding and mindboggling. Black metal cannot, and will never be the same.

"For the band's fifth full-length release, 1349 decided to suck out the fiercest and most potent energies from every single member and surroundings, channeling it into songs that are pulsating with uncanny atmospheres, rawness and nerve-shattering intensity. The whole process of getting the material on record was like one long, exhausting black magic summoning that could not be allowed to go wrong."

"Demonoir" will be available in three different versions:

* Regular CD
* Limited digipack version with special artwork, including a bonus CD with cover versions.
* Double 180-gram vinyl in gatefold sleeve. Includes cover versions.

1349 will embark on a North American tour in April and May as the support act for CANNIBAL CORPSE (alongside SKELETONWITCH and LECHEROUS NOCTURNE). (Note, 1349 will not appear on the last week of the tour.)

1349 rose from the ashes of ALVHEIM in 1997, and in 2003 they released their debut album, "Liberation". Since then, 1349 has added three more albums to its critically acclaimed catalog.

1349 is:

Ravn - Vocals
Archaon - Guitar
Seidemann - Bass
Frost - Drums

SLASH Explains Why OZZY Track Was Nixed As First Single

The Pulse of Radio reports: Slash has released the first single from his upcoming self-titled solo debut, a song called "By The Sword" featuring vocals from WOLFMOTHER's Andrew Stockdale. However, the initial choice for first single was "Crucify The Dead", with Ozzy Osbourne singing. Slash explained why the switch was made. "The problem with this record is, because I do have all guest singers, you run the risk of, you know, getting singles rights and interfering with the release of other people's records," he said. "So that's really what the issue was, is making sure that whatever single I was using wasn't sort of stepping on the toes of that artist's own record. And Ozzy's got a new record coming out."

Slash's album, his first official solo outing, is due out April 6.

The guitarist uses a different guest vocalist on each track, including Fergie, M. Shadows, Kid Rock, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, Lemmy Kilmister, Myles Kennedy, Iggy Pop and others.

Slash has also tapped Kennedy, lead vocalist in ALTER BRIDGE, as the singer for his upcoming solo tour, which will take place this spring. Slash's touring band will also appear at Ohio's Rock On The Range festival in May.

Slash has said in recent interviews that VELVET REVOLVER will regroup after he has toured his solo record to continue looking for a new singer.

The "LP Archives" will open to the public on March 17 at downloads.linkinpark.com, but Linkin Park Underground fan club members have early access to the "LP Archives" right now and receive a 25% discount on their purchase. We wanted to make the highest quality recordings available to all of our fans."

MALADAPTIVE Featuring DRAGONFORCE Bassist: New Song Posted Online

MALADAPTIVE, the French metal band featuring DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq on guitar, has uploaded a new song, "Quarantine", on its MySpace page. The group recorded the track along with two other songs in demo form to gauge interest from record labels while continuing work on material for its debut album, as well as working on live dates for 2010.

The group is currently taking advantage of DRAGONFORCE's downtime to bounce back after laying low for several months.

MALADAPTIVE was formed by Frédéric Leclercq, Pierre-Emmanuel Pélisson (bass, CIVILIZATION ONE, ex-HEAVENLY) and Maxence Pilo (drums, ex-HEAVENLY). The trio was later joined by Nicklaus Minier (CIVILIZATION ONE, ex-DECLINE OF HUMANITY) on guitar and more recently by Arno Strobl on vocals (ex-CARNIVAL IN COAL).

TIMO TOLKKI On His Book: \'I Do Not Want To Generate Negativity And Hatred\'

Former STRATOVARIUS and current REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE mainman Timo Tolkki has issued the following update:

"After a lot of thinking, feeling and getting some distance to my [recently completed] book, I have come to a conclusion that much of the book was written in anger and doesn't represent accurately how things are/were. I cannot release something like that. Specifically the parts of the book concerning some of the STRATOVARIUS members were written in much anger and even vengeance.

"I do not want to generate negativity and hatred.

"After all this time, I am thankful to the [STRATOVARIUS] guys for some of the best years and moments in my life. And I believe STRATOVARIUS deserves a really well-written book when the time is right.

"I set out to write my own book with the help of a Finnish publisher LIKE, the same that published NIGHTWISH book. Somewhere along the way, I got lost.

"If my book will ever see the light of the day, it will concentrate more on my personal life and my childhood, and, of course, music. In these things I believe that my experiences can actually be helpful to some people.

"It has not been an easy ride.

"Thank you for understanding and sorry for you who have been expecting the book. It will take more time now that I am reviewing what to actually put in there."

EVANESCENCE\'s \'Bring Me To Life\' Single Certified Platinum

The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has confirmed that the hit single "Bring Me To Life" from the Grammy Award-winning band EVANESCENCE has been certified platinum for sales in excess of one million copies. The single, which was released on July 18, 2006, is from the band's debut album for Wind-up Records, "Fallen". Released in April 2003, the album went on to sell over 15 million copies worldwide. EVANESCENCE received two Grammy Awards that year for "Best New Artist" and "Best Hard Rock Performance" for "Bring Me To Life".

EVANESCENCE entered the studio on February 22 in New York City with famed U2 producer Steve Lillywhite to begin recording its third album for a late 2010 release. Singer Amy Lee has been writing the record with an old friend named Will Hunt, a drummer and producer who coincidentally shares the same name as EVANESCENCE's touring drummer of the last few years. Lee tells RollingStone.com about the collaboration, "I went through a phase where I didn't know if it was solo time, or go write score music, or what. And then once we wrote together, I realized this is totally EVANESCENCE."

According to Lee, the new EVANESCENCE album will incorporate influences from dance-rock and electronic acts like DEPECHE MODE, MASSIVE ATTACK, MGMT and PORTISHEAD. "A lot of bands I've always been inspired by are just coming into play a little more," she says. "There's a lot of stuff that doesn't sound like EVANESCENCE, but the heart of the band of still there. This is a really, really, rhythmically driven record. So there's tons of drum-programming fused with live drums."

Hunt will also play drums on the record, although the other Will Hunt — the touring drummer — might return as well. Still with the band are guitarist Terry Balsamo and bassist Tim McCord, while touring guitarist Troy McLawhorn may come back if his schedule with SEETHER permits.

FORBIDDEN Signs With NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area metallers FORBIDDEN have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band entered the studio on March 1 to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release.

Commented the group in a statement: "We are very proud to announce that FORBIDDEN has signed to Nuclear Blast Records! Ultimately, we all knew that there is NO better label in the world to handle metal and bring it to the masses with authority.

"For the last year, we have been intensely working on our craft while re-examining our past with a perspective we'd never had before. Our vision is clear and we know exactly who and what we are today.

"FORBIDDEN is in an amazing creative space and we can't wait for everyone to hear it!

"We must thank Jaap Wagemaker and everyone else at Nuclear Blast for making their enthusiasm known to us since we've committed to writing this record. Also, there are so many other amazing friends that helped us along the way and we appreciate everything you've done for us to get FORBIDDEN back into a position of strength.

"If you feel in your bones that you are one of them, then you definitely are!

"Thank you all so much."

Added Nuclear Blast A&R Manager Jaap Wagemaker: "We are totally stoked to announce that FORBIDDEN has inked a deal with Nuclear Blast!!

"It is no secret that the staff of Nuclear Blast has a soft spot for thrash metal! We all grew up here with classics such as 'Forbidden Evil' and 'Twisted into Form'!

"I am sure you can imagine that we were totally thrilled when we heard the news that FORBIDDEN were coming back and after seeing them live several times since then and seeing them doing a smoking rendition of 'Twisted into Form', it was totally clear to us! FORBIDDEN needs a new home and that home is called Nuclear Blast! This feeling became even bigger after [guitarist] Craig [Locicero] had sent us the two new songs last year! Needless to say that a dream is coming true!

"The future belongs to FORBIDDEN and together with Nuclear Blast, we will bring the band back on the metal map!

"What the future will bring? I cannot tell you! 'Cause it is…..forbidden!"

ENFORCER Signs European Deal With EARACHE RECORDS

Swedish heavy metallers ENFORCER have inked a European deal with Earache Records. The band's new album, "Diamonds", is scheduled for release in Europe on May 24 and in the rest of the world a day later via Heavy Artillery Records.

Commented ENFORCER singer Olof Wikstrand: "After the great success of 'Into The Night', we now take things a few steps further with the next album. This time it feels great to have a European dedicated and hard working label on board. I'm really excited to see what this end up like and I'm also proud of being a part of Earache."

Dan Tobin, Earache label manager, added: "Earache is proud to welcome one of the most exciting new bands on the scene onto the label's roster. ENFORCER's brand of streetwise heavy metal is as exciting as anything I've heard from a young band, and we look forward to helping them take steps towards the big league. 'Diamonds' is a superb way to start their march to the top."

Influenced as much by the speed metal bands of the late '80s as traditional NWOBHM and cult Swedish demos, ENFORCER is truly a metal powerhouse.

With 2008's "Into The Night" earning a deserved entry in Terrorizer magazine's Top 100 "Albums Of The Decade", ENFORCER returns with its highly anticipated sophomore album, "Diamonds", which picks up where its predecessor left off — one foot firmly in the past, paying respects to IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST alike, but augmenting its craft with modern flair and technical wizardry, highlighted by the production of renowned Swedish producer Rikard Lofgren.

Thanks to its appearance on Earache's "Heavy Metal Killers" compilation, ENFORCER kicked open the floodgates for the return of traditional heavy metal, paving the way for many other young bands to follow. With critical acclaim pouring in from fans and the international music press, ENFORCER wasted no time taking their show on the road gaining rabid fans at every stop, touring across Europe and North America.

ENFORCER is:

Olof Wikstrand - Vocals
Adam Zaars - Guitars
Jonas Wikstrand - Drums
Joseph Tholl - Guitars
Tobias Lindqvist - Bass

BLACK COUNTRY Forced To Come Up With New Name

The new project featuring drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN) alongside legendary bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH), keyboardist Derek Sherinian (ALICE COOPER, DREAM THEATER, KISS, BILLY IDOL) and guitarist Joe Bonamassa is being forced to come up with a new name.

"There is a band already called BLACK COUNTRY and their legal representatives have already reminded us of that fact," Bonamassa tells Undercover News.

According to Bonamassa, the name was never have meant to have been made public when it was.

"It jumped out of the gun," he says. "It got leaked inadvertently and it has spread like wildfire. It wasn't anybody's fault, it just got leaked. Somebody overheard a conversation. The definition of overhearing a conversation is putting it online and acting if its fact."

He adds, "We will finish this thing in March and we'll have a united, clear-cut name. It is still a work in progress."

In an exclusive interview with Dave Lewis for the forthcoming Tight But Loose magazine, Hughes revealed the future plans for the band formerly known as BLACK COUNTRY.

"You might think with Joe involved it's going to be a bluesy record, and while there are elements of that, it's developed into a classic modern rock album," he said. "There's a real groove to it all, but with a Bonham involved, that's to be expected!

"Jason's drumming is amazing. He really feels the music and knows exactly what's going on in the songs. This is his best playing on an album ever, in my view. It's an honor to be in a band with him. His father helped me so much in my early days in TRAPEZE and was a real mentor to me. He really championed my music. It's amazing to think back and remember being at John's house and seeing him tutoring Jason when he was really young and now I'm playing in a band with him."

Talking about recording the project's debut album, Glenn recalled the sheer buzz of performing in this lineup.

"I remember we were recording the second track, 'One Last Soul', on January 3; it was a Sunday. We were doing it all live and I had this overwhelming feeling that this is the way it should be now. This is what I'm supposed to be doing.

"I'm back in a band and I feel totally rejuvenated. I need, for my own sake, to be involved in this. I love the variety we have and there's a real focus that allows us to grow musically. It's a real 'black country'-sounding album, too. Kevin Shirley's production is typical of his style; there's a rawness and lots of live solos and not a lot of overdubs. There's a light and shade there, too, but as I said, it's also a very gutsy vocal record."

RAVENS CREED Announces Singer For New Album

RAVENS CREED, the "VENOM-worshipping scumbags" featuring Steve Watson (ex-IRON MONKEY), Jason Graham, and former SABBAT bassist Frazer Craske, have recruited Stian "Iscariah" Smorholm (ex-IMMORTAL, DEAD TO THIS WORLD) to handle the vocals on the band's second album, "A Conspiracy Of...". The group states, "Stian will not be able to become a full-time member as he lives in Norway, but [we are] positive we will be able to do some shows with him at some point.

"Stian's filthy rasp will complement the new RAVENS CREED songs, which [we] think is more aggressive than 'Albion Thunder'. [Former RAVENS CREED vocalist] Ben 'Sarge' Ward has said he thinks it will be killer, too."

RAVENS CREED is currently writing material for their second album, "A Conspiracy Of...", at the band's own Tenko studios for a tentative late 2010 release via Doomentia Records once again. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include:

* Raped By The Graveyard
* Bashed In
* Five Witches Of Nine
* Shoot The Wounded
* The Wires Will Kill You
* Kick To Kill
* War Cauldron
* Hearse Fokker
* Unleash The Ratbashers
* Bloody Luxury
* Black Bullets
* Wiccan Wanderers

DEATH ANGEL Begins Recording New Album

San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans DEATH ANGEL have entered Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida in March with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER) to begin recording their new album for a tentative September release via Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented guitarist Rob Cavestany: "After months of writing and pre-production in our Oakland rehearsal studio, I'm suddenly a temporary resident of Sanford, Florida!

"I have travelled across the country to begin the process of recording our new album at Audiohammer Studios and tonight we kicked in the action.

"Monday was all about getting acquainted, listening to music, getting a vibe and discussing the game plan. Tonight we worked on tempos, arrangements, riffs and guitar harmonies... getting right down to the core of the songs.

"I laid down scratch guitar tracks for the first four songs, and damn, how they have blossomed from the original ideas! I'm really liking where we are going so far... just the scratch tracks sound sick!

"Jason and I seem to be off to a good start. The vibe is on and we are both night owls so we're on the same wavelength... which is important if magic is to be weaved!

"It's rather late (early?) so I better hit the sack as I expect an intense long session [on Wednesday, March 3]. Ted [Aguilar; guitar] and Will [Carroll; drums] arrive late [Tuesday night] and I plan to have all the scratch guitar tracks recorded by Thursday evening when we begin tracking drums.

"Looking forward to a productive and enjoyable time making this record out here."

DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda recently stated about the band's decision to work with Suecof, "The new material is the most aggressive and technical music we have written in years. So we needed a producer that was capable of unleashing the tones that match and complement the overall vibe of the songs. With Jason's experience in producing some of the most brutal contemporary metal artists and albums of today, I know we made the right choice! I think the collaboration between the two of us will prove to be venomous and infectious!"

BROKEN TEETH: \'Blackheart\' Video Available

BROKEN TEETH's video for the song "Blackheart" can be viewed below. The track comes off the band's new album, "Viva La Rock, Fantastico!", which was released on January 26 via Perris Records.

BROKEN TEETH is the Austin-based hard rock quintet featuring DANGEROUS TOYS/WATCHTOWER vocalist Jason McMaster.

Featuring 13 all-new tracks and cameo vocals by Canadian compadre Danko Jones, "Viva La Rock, Fantastico!" was written on the road during BROKEN TEETH's 2008-2009 "Blood on the Road Tour". As expected, the fifth release from the hard-bitten Texas head-knockers is torn from the same hellraiser's hymnal that gave us the likes of MOTÖRHEAD, AC/DC, RHINO BUCKET and other wheels-of-steel rockers.

"Some of these songs were written in the back of the bus, some were written in hotel rooms and others were written in the darker corners of life on the road," said McMaster. "Inspiration is at its finest when it's covered in grease, sweat and blood."

All of the guitar and drum tracks for the new album have been completed and the bass and vocals are nearly done. Mixing is set to begin at the end of March.

Regarding the direction the band has taken since recruiting new members last year, Williams stated, "Whether it's the infusion of the new members and their particular backgrounds or just the way we were going already... the new album is faster, thrashier, heavier and tighter. Old-school crossover hardcore/thrash meets death metal."

GLORIOR BELLI Recruits New Drummer

French black metallers GLORIOR BELLI have recruited drummer G. (FROSTMOON ECLIPSE, DEATHROW, MACABRE OMEN) to lay down the tracks on the band's new record, "The Full Intrepid Experience of Light", to be released later this year.

GLORIOR BELLI recently uploaded a new video clip and sample taken from "The Full Intrepid Experience Of Light". The follow-up to 2008's "Meet Us Of The Southern Sign" is described in a press release as a "a unique glimpse into an honest experience for the sake of truth, exploring the very essence of 'light' defined by the Demiurge's most virulent adversary!"

GLORIOR BELLI mainman Julien (a.k.a. Infestvvs) previously stated, "After (too) many changes and (too) many mistakes from my side, I have decided to go on my own way and do what I should have done in the the very first place with GLORIOR BELLI: A SOLO project, helped by a handful of musicians for LIVE-related matters.

"I want to make sure this isn't going to 'hurt' the people we have recruited lately, as there was absolutely nothing wrong with them, besides the fact that I AM a control freak.

"So please note that this is on ME only. The solitary path is the only one I know and the only one that gives satisfaction at the end of the road for me."

GLORIOR BELLI in May 2009 cancelled its participation in the "CIII" tour with U.S. black metal legends ABSU, Austin-based AVERSE SEFIRA and Los Angeles-based SOTHIS. According to a statement released by GLORIOR BELLI, the band "couldn't acquire the appropriate papers" in time for the tour and therefore had "no other choice but to pull out."

GLORIOR BELLI's third full-length album, "Meet Us Of The Southern Sign", was released in North America on June 2, 2009 via Candlelight Records.

Jed Simon (TENET, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, ZIMMERS HOLE), Tim Roth (INTO ETERNITY) and Matt Thomspon (KING DIAMOND) will make guest appearances on the fourth album from U.S. metallers SINGLE BULLET THEORY, entitled "Divine Ways Of Chaos". The CD is currently being recorded at Collinwood Studios in Wenonah, New Jersey and it's "shaping up to be a monster of a release," according to vocalist/guitarist Matt Difabio (ex-PISSING RAZORS). Difabio added: "Both [Jed and Tim] are absolutely top notch so we are stoked to have them on board. They will be sharing a shred-fest section of a song called 'The Heretic', so I cant wait to see the madness that will unfold."

Continued Difabio: "In the coming week we will also be leaking a snippet of an amazing cover song we have done. It features longtime SINGLE BULLET THEORY friend Matt Thomspon on drums. It was originally recorded in 2004 when we tracked 'Behind Eyes Of Hatred' and I can say that it is a serious tribute to an absolute legend."

A brand new SINGLE BULLET THEORY track, "The Edge of Broken", is available for streaming using the ReverbNation TuneWidget below (click on "Songs" tab).

"The Edge of Broken" "marks a significant change in SINGLE BULLET THEORY's sound and leans much farther into the heavier elements of the band," according to a press release.

STORMLORD Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement

Italian extreme epic metal act STORMLORD has parted ways with guitarist Pierangelo Giglioni and has replaced him with Andrea Angelini (STICK IT OUT, WITHATE). The group states, "We know [Andrea] since a long time, we like his bands and we already had a sort of collaboration back in 2002, on Francesco [Bucci; bass] and David [Folchitto; drums] side-project, OUTBREAK. Andrea has been on stage with us for more that a year now, he is highly motivated and ready to measure his talent with some new STORMLORD music."

STORMLORD's fourth full-length album, "Mare Nostrum", was released in May 2008 via Locomotive Records. The CD was recorded at Giuseppe Orlando's Outer Sound Studios (NECRODEATH, NOVEMBRE, KLIMT 1918) and was mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila (HIM, CHILDREN OF BODOM, NIGHTWISH, SENTENCED).

Commented the band: "After almost two years of touring promotion for 'Mare Nostrum', we're about to stop the live activity for a while.

"The response to our 2008 album has been outstanding and we had the chance to perform a lot of concerts in Europe and even in Africa. Now it's time for us to work harder on the new songs. That's why we’re gonna play four last shows before to dig ourselves in the rehearsal room in order to complete the songwriting for our fifth album.

"The stuff we already have sounds damn good: innovative yet loyal to the epic Mediterranean style of 'Mare Nostrum'.

"We hope to enter the recording studio between the end of this year and the beginning of 2011."

KATAKLYSM Completes Songwriting Process For New Album

Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM have completed the songwriting process for their new album, "Heaven's Venom", for a tentative fall release via Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "It's done after two years of hard work! We really made sure we had every element covered, going over all the riffs and arrangements hundreds of times to make it the best it could be.

"Our fans have given us so much over the years and it was time for us, without any label pressure or time limit, to give back with the album they have been waiting for. We think we've accomplished something special, but we are not going to say this is the heaviest or best KATAKLYSM and all that stuff. The fans will decide that. I just know the mission is accomplished when all of us have big cheesy smiles on our faces!

"We're going to take a little break now and hit the road with KREATOR, which should be a lot of fun! As soon as we are back, we will give the album one last check-up and then start recording this beast. Should be wrapped up and mixed by this summer.

"Next year it will be the band's 20th anniversary so you can bet that we will deliver the goods. We promise! Lots of cool surprises ahead."

Tentative songtitles set to appear on "Heaven's Venom" include "Soul Made of Shrapnel", "Blind Savior", "Hail the Renegade" and "Push the Venom".

The follow-up to 2008's "Prevail", "Heaven's Venom" will once again be recorded by guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX) while Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, SUICIDE SILENCE, WINDS OF PLAGUE, DARK TRANQUILLITY) will handle mixing duties.

HAIL OF BULLETS Putting Finishing Touches On New Album

HAIL OF BULLETS — the Dutch death metal band featuring GOREFEST drummer Ed Warby, THANATOS guitarists Stephan Gebédi and Paul Baayens, former PESTILENCE/ASPHYX singer Martin Van Drunen and former HOUWITSER bass player Theo van Eekelen — has issued the following update:

"So we are almost finished with the sessions for the new HAIL OF BULLETS studio album.

"We've been pretty busy these past few months, especially Ed, who was, and still is, working his ass off handling all recording and editing chores. But we're not too far removed from finishing all the work!

"Martin will do vocals in a few weeks at Excess Studios where we also recorded the drums last month. Everything else was recorded at Ed's home studio, the aptly named Warbunker. Mixing and mastering will once again be in the capable hands of mister Dan Swanö (ex-EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH, NIGHTINGALE). Crushing heaviness guaranteed!"

ADAGIO has recruited Swedish vocalist Mats Levén (KRUX, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, THERION, TREAT) for their upcoming European tour as the support act for KAMELOT.

Commented ADAGIO guitarist Stéphan Forté: "Mats is an incredible singer and performer, with a tremendous technique. His unique tone, both aggressive and melodic, fits ADAGIO's music wonderfully. So, we're very much looking forward to meeting all of you guys next month on the tour with KAMELOT... We're fuckin' impatient to share a dark musical moment with you!!"

ADAGIO recently parted ways with Finnish singer Christian Palin, a decision the band said it "needed to take as soon as possible for the best of ADAGIO."

ADAGIO is scheduled to support KAMELOT on a number of European dates beginning on March 25 in Charleroi, Belgium.

"Archangels In Black", the latest album from ADAGIO, was released in February 2009 via Listenable Records. The cover artwork was created by Guilherme Sevens and the CD was mastered at the Cutting Room in Sweden with Björn Engelmann (RAMMSTEIN, MESHUGGAH).

According to a press release, "without being a concept album, 'Archangels In Black' evokes the band's convictions about a certain Nightside philosophy and a very personal approach of life and death." Forté says, "Darkness is a concept with many branches, often misunderstood from outside, but elemental for some kind."

"Archangels In Black" was the first — and last — CD to feature Palin.

Palin was previously a member of the Swedish/Finnish bands ESSENCE OF SORROW and RANDOM EYES.

ORANGE GOBLIN: No New Album For The Foreseeable Future

British doomsters ORANGE GOBLIN have announced that, due to various circumstances, there will be no new album from the band for the foreseeable future.

Commented the group: "With everybody's commitments to work, family and other things, we have decided that it is best that we do not commit to any deadline for the next album as we wouldn't want to rush and deliver a record that we are not 100% happy with. Songwriting will continue as and when we can, but we honestly couldn't say when we will be ready to go into the studio to record again. It will definitely NOT be in 2010. Please rest assured that it will happen, but sometimes it is better to stop and think of what is best for ORANGE GOBLIN as a band!"

ORANGE GOBLIN's Ben Ward recently left RAVENS CREED because he could "no longer give the band the time and energy that it deserves."

DELAIN Announces New Bassist

DELAIN — the Dutch gothic rock/metal project founded by ex-WITHIN TEMPTATION keyboardist Martijn Westerholt (brother of WITHIN TEMPTATION's Robert Westerholt) — has announced the addition of bassist Otto "The Baron" Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (DETONATION) to the group's ranks. He will make his live debut with DELAIN on the band's upcoming U.K. tour, which is scheduled to kick off on March 21 in London.

Otto "The Baron" Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (pictured below) joins DELAIN as the replacement for Rob van der Loo, who will perform with DELAIN for the last time on April 8 in Breda, Holland.

DELAIN's second album, "April Rain", was released in North America on June 30, 2009 via Sensory Records (with U.S. distribution through Ryko and Canadian distribution through Sonic Unyon). The North American version of the album features a bonus track — "Come Closer" — which was previously only available on the limited-edition digipack version of the LP.

DELAIN last year parted ways with guitarist Ronald Landa due to musical differences. He has since been replaced by Ewout Pieters.

"April Rain" benefits from the return of NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala who sings male vocals on two tracks, as well as world-renowned cellist Maria Ahn.

HECATE ENTHRONED Completes Recording New Album

U.K. black metallers HECATE ENTHRONED have set "Virulent Rapture" as the tentative title of their new album, due later in the year via an as-yet-undetermined record label.

Commented the band: "Recording has now finished on the new [HECATE ENTHRONED] album. Dean finished his vocals last weekend, where Nigel and Andy also finished off some final guitar work, leaving only the mixing and mastering to be done.

"The mixdown will begin very soon and the tracks are already sounding very big, very heavy and very epic. Release will then depend on which label we sign with and as to when will be the most appropriate time for release."

HECATE ENTHRONED's first CD since 2004's "Redimus" will NOT be issued through Candlelight/Blackend, which handled the band's last release.

THE SWORD Exploring Sci-Fi Concept On New Album

Austin, Texas' THE SWORD entered the studio in February with producer Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS, MINUS THE BEAR) to begin recording its third album for a late 2010 release via Kemado Records. Frontman J.D. Cronise tells AOL's Noisecreep that the as-yet-untitled record will have a broader hard rock sound but stresses that the band's aim isn't to broaden its appeal outside of the heavy metal market. "If more people listen that's great, but we're not doing it for that reason," he says. "We are just more interested in expanding our sound for ourselves. If we wanted to expand our audience we should just remake the second album over again, rather than challenge people with something new."

Cronise adds, "It's really a concept record. The songs revolve around a concept we came up with or spin off from it. It's not the kind of fantasy concept though, it's more sci-fi."
