FIREBIRD: New Album Track Listing Revealed
 FIREBIRD, the British power trio led by CARCASS/ex-NAPALM DEATH guitarist Bill Steer, has finished mastering its new album, tentatively titled "Double Diamond", for a summer 2010 release. The CD features ten songs recorded at Graveland studios in 's-Graveland, Holland during January. According to the band, "this recording heralds a new chapter for the band, seeing [guitarist/vocalist Bill] Steer and [drummer Ludwig] Witt draw inspiration from some of their earliest metal favourites such as BUDGIE, FIST and TANK."

ELVENKING To Enter Studio This Weekend
 Italian folk/power metal band ELVENKING will enter Piranha studios in Karsdolf, Germany on Saturday, March 20 with producer Dennis Ward (ANGRA, PINK CREAM 69, PRIMAL FEAR) to begin recording their new album for a late 2010 release. Mat Sinner (PRIMAL FEAR, SINNER) will executive-produce the CD, which is tentatively due in September. Guitarist Aydan states, "Zender cannot wait to hit hard on his drums to lay down the basis for all the new songs.
"We have 11 new tracks to lay down and we are extremely excited about the new material and really curious to see it developed in the final form and to hear how it will sound in the end."

ION DISSONANCE Reveals New Album Title
 Montreal extreme metal purists ION DISSONANCE have completed the recording process for their new album, "Cursed", for an early summer release via Century Media Records. The CD was tracked at .357 Productions with ION guitar player Antoine Lussier (who also produced EMMURE's latest LP) at the production helm.
According to a press release, "Fans can expect a more refined and streamlined approach that just goes straight for the jugular with a frenetic assault of the band’s trademarked mathematic brutality."
Commented frontman Kevin McCaughey: "We only have a few more days of mixing left and we will be hitting up Wild Studios in the coming weeks to master our efforts and finally put an end to this horribly long and arduous recording process.
"We have been hacking away at this thing for the past three months and are down to our last few days. To see the light at the end of the tunnel and to hear what we have put together is motivating as hell for us. We all had high hopes for this record and feel that we have undoubtedly delivered the goods."

RATT: New Song Available For Streaming
 "Eat Me Up Alive", a brand new track from Californian rockers RATT, can be streamed using the audio player below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Infestation", which will be released on April 20 via Loud & Proud. The group's first studio record in 11 years contains the first single "Best of Me", which is available now at all digital stores.
"Infestation" was produced by Elvis Baskette (CHEVELLE, ALTER BRIDGE) at his Virginia studio, marking the first time the band has recorded outside of Los Angeles. SOULDRAINER Begins Recording New Album
 Swedish death metallers SOULDRAINER have entered Empire Studio to begin recording their new album for a late 2010 release. According to the band, the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2007's "Reborn" will contain 13 sogns and "will be beautiful, evil, slightly more aggressive and heavier" than its predecessor. The group adds, "Prepare for an epic death/doom album so heavy it will blow your face off."
In May 2008, SOULDRAINER parted ways with Mascot Records, the label which released the group's debut album, "Reborn", in May 2007. POWER QUEST Parts Ways With Singer, Guitarist
 U.K-based metallers POWER QUEST have parted ways with singer Pete Morten and guitarist Ben Randall due to "musical differences." According to the band, "the split was amicable and everyone in the POWER QUEST family wishes Pete and Ben all the very best in their respective musical endeavors. "
A new vocalist has already been found and the band is hard at work rehearsing new material with him.
In the meantime, POWER QUEST is looking for a new guitarist to join the lineup. Dedication, commitment and drive are essential, as is the ability and desire to tour and rehearse (one weekend per month in the U.K.) as required. Experience is obviously an advantage but is by no means essential.
If you are a guitarist familiar with POWER QUEST and influenced by melodic metal and hard rock, here's what you have to do to apply:
E-mail stevekeys@power-quest.co.uk with your biography, contact details and links to audio and video examples of your playing both in the studio and in the live arena. Those who are shortlisted will be invited to attend an audition in Derby (U.K.) in late April/early May 2010. The successful candidate will of course be joining the band to record the new album in Italy in July/August this year. Please note no applications will be considered after April 10.
POWER QUEST's latest album, "Master of Illusion", was released in 2008 via Napalm Records/Avalon Marquee (Japan). Guest musicians on the CD include keyboardist Richard West from the U.K. progressive metal band THRESHOLD, Jorn Viggo Lofstad from the Norwegian power metal act PAGAN'S MIND and FOURWAYKILL singer Chris Neighbour.

"ATTENTION: The March 14th GUNS N' ROSES show in Rio De Janeiro at Apoteose Stadium has been officially canceled for this evening due to the stage collapsing because of heavy rains. Stay tuned for more info and possible rescheduling information as we receive it. There is a possibility the show may be rescheduled for tomorrow night, March 15th or at a later date. There fortunately are no fatalities but there are injuries from both our camp and Rio crews the extent of which is not known at present. The Rio Fire Dept is evacuating crews out of the venue to avoid further injuries with the heavy rains and winds. Details are just coming in. Also a truck w/part of The Sebastian Bach Band's gear has rolled on the trip from Sao Paulo to Rio what is our understanding several times and we are awaiting details on the safety of the driver at this time. VIOLENT STORM Parts Ways With Singer
 VIOLENT STORM — the band formed by ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/BLACKMORE'S NIGHT bassist Mick Cervino — has parted ways with singer Craig Swyger "due to musical differences." Cervino states, "Craig will soon be embarking on his own brand new project and I wish him nothing but the best on his future endeavors."
He adds, "VIOLENT STORM's upcoming release is on its last stages. We are focusing on the new vocals and adding the final touches to have a single out in just a few more weeks."

AVANTASIA: \'Dying For An Angel\' Video Featuring SCORPIONS Frontman Available
 "Dying For An Angel", the new video from EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA project, can be viewed below. The clip was shot in late January at the ancient town hall in Hannover, Germany and features a special guest appearance by SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine. The song comes off AVANTASIA's new epic masterpiece, to be released on April 3, 2010 as regular CDs ("The Wicked Symphony" and "Angel Of Babylon"), two separate double picture vinyls, and as a beautiful collector's edition with an AVANTASIA picture book. The deluxe box set will feature two CDs in two digibooks with impressive booklets, codes for online content (like bonus tracks, etc.) and the AVANTASIA book "The Wicked Trilogy", including many never-before-seen photos from the tour and from photo sessions, etc. An exclusive interview, liner notes, and a biography will also be included. All the album versions will be released simultaneously on April 3, so no one will be forced to buy everything piece by piece; instead everyone will be able to choose a version of his/her choice right from the release date.
"The Wicked Symphony" and "Angel Of Babylon" are the continuation of the trilogy that began with the 2008 album "The Scarecrow".
The cover artwork for the two CDs (see below) was created by Thomas Ewerhard, who also worked on EDGUY's "Hellfire Club" and AVANTASIA's "The Scarecrow" albums.

Regarding his decision to release the next AVANTASIA chapter in two separate CDs, Tobias said, "I have always given my very best, but this new chapter in AVANTASIA's history is too much and too ambitious to be just a regular album. I have worked on it for years now, and it has become even more than two albums!
"I knew that story would be spread out over two albums back then when we started working on it in 2006, 'cause we had written a real rock opera of over 20 songs even back then. But since then, we kept composing, and out came even bigger and better material.
"Looking at the music industry today with all the CD burning and downloading, I guess in the near future many of us traditional rock and metal bands won't be able to spend such a production budget. I am afraid I won't be able to afford so many guests and such a big production with orchestration and a choir and all that. That's why this production takes so much time; it may be the last big epic I will be able to afford, and I want it to be the biggest piece I have worked on so far."
Kiske has appeared on every AVANTASIA album so far, including the first two full-length releases, "The Metal Opera" (2001) and "The Metal Opera Pt. II" (2002).
On the topic of the new AVANTASIA album's musical direction, Sammet recently stated, "We've got quite many songs, and it ranges from epic ballads to metal opera. From pop to hard rock to folk to speed metal. My best friend, who co-wrote the story of 'The Metal Opera' back then, just listened to some of the tracks and he said that it will blow people away and enchant AVANTASIA fans and it will surely piss people off . . . It's just enchanting music. And these days honest and good music is kind of offending to some, that's pretty sick, isn't it? But as long as I get goose bumps hearing majestic music, I do not really care if I am fashionable or not."
The most recent album from AVANTASIA, "The Scarecrow", was one of the 20 best-selling albums in whole Europe during the fourth week of January 2008, according to a press release.
"The Scarecrow" was released on January 25, 2008 as a standard CD as well as rare picture (double) vinyl. It features a long list of guest musicians, including Bob Catley, ex-MASTERPLAN frontman Jorn Lande, ex-HELLOWEEN singer Michael Kiske, Alice Cooper, KISS drummer Eric Singer, SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker and GAMMA RAY's Kai Hansen. The album produced a Top 10 German hit single, "Lost In Space", and entered the national charts in 15 countries, with the CD landing in the Top 10 in four countries.
