OFFICIUM TRISTE Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
 Dutch "atmospheric doomsters" OFFICIUM TRISTE have parted ways with drummer Ronald Lagerwaard and have replaced him with Niels Jordaan (IN AGE AND SADNESS). The band states, "Ronald simply couldn't commit to the plans we have concerning OFFICIUM TRISTE's future. Because of this we had to make a difficult decision as we really appreciated Ronald as a person and as a skilled drummer.
"As a band we do want to perform live on a regular basis and that simply wasn't possible due to logistics and personal affairs."
Regarding Ronald's replacement, OFFICIUM TRISTE says, "After some serious brainstorming who would be an ideal drummer, we decided to ask Niels Jordaan, who in the past pounded the drums for the now-defunct band IN AGE AND SADNESS. Since we shared the stage with IN AGE AND SADNESS several times in the past, we knew Niels would be a good replacement. Niels gladly accepted our offer and we are currently rehearsing material with Niels."
In other news, OFFICIUM TRISTE is currently writing material for its fifth full-length album. The band says, "Right now we have plenty of ideas for 6-to-7 new songs and it's coming along nicely. We hope to finish the album before the summer and have it released this fall. This will be our last album under the current contract with Displeased Records.
"At this moment we are also negotiating a couple of festival appearances later this year. More news about those performances is expected soon."
OFFICIUM TRISTE's fourth full-length album, "Giving Yourself Away", was released on May 28, 2007 via Displeased Records. The CD was recorded at Excess studio in Rotterdam, Holland.  | 0 |  |

STIGMA: New Song Available For Streaming
 "Prove You Are a Man!", a brand new song from Italian horror-inspired extreme metal act STIGMA, is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track, which features a guest appearance by Jon Hunt (ex-DEAD TO FALL), comes off STIGMA's sophomore album, "Concerto for the Undead", which is scheduled for release on April 30 in Europe (except in the U.K., where it will arrive on May 3) and May 4 in North America via Pivotal Rockordings.
The follow-up to 2008's "When Midnight Strikes!", "Concerto for the Undead" features lyrics centered on the cult-classic comic book series Tales From the Crypt and includes an additional guest vocal appearance by Jamie Hope (ex-THE RED SHORE).

NEGATIVE To Release \'Neon\' In June
 Finnish rock band NEGATIVE will release its fifth album, "Neon", on June 2. The CD was recorded at the Broken Wave studios in Los Angeles with Warren Riker as the engineer/assistant producer and Jimmy Westerlund as the producer.
According to a press release, "Neon" is "a milestone in NEGATIVE's career. A lot has been invested in the production — the material has been polished to perfection before entering the studios under the supervision of Jeff Blue. Singer Jonne Aaron's vocal scale stretches wider than ever and the band’s playing comes together brilliantly on this upcoming album. Aaron has composed an album filled to the brim with emotional stadium rock."
"Neon" will be the first NEGATIVE album to be released in Europe and Asia simultaneously via Warner Music and JVC Music, respectively. The CD's first single, "End Of The Line", was distributed to radio stations March 1 and will be followed by a music video later in the spring.
Jonne Aaron describes "Neon" as "melody rich and comprehensive string of pearls with a twist."

POWERWOLF Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
 Multinational metalheads POWERWOLF have parted ways with drummer Stefane Funebre and have replaced him with Tom Diener. The band states, "Tom already toured with us as temporary replacement for Funebre during the last 12 months and in the meantime has become a true member of the pack and a master of the ceremony."
"Bible Of The Beast", the latest album from POWERWOLF, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 76. The CD was released on April 27, 2009 in Europe via Metal Blade Records. Mixed by legendary producer Fredrik Nordström (IN FLAMES, HAMMERFALL, ARCH ENEMY) the opus is said to be POWERWOLF's heaviest album to date.

Former SEAR BLISS Members Launch I DIVINE
 Former SEAR BLISS members István Neubrandt (guitar), Attila Kovács (guitar), Zoltán Pál (trombone) and Zoltán Schönberger (drums) have launched a brand new band called I DIVINE.
Commented the group: "The split [with SEAR BLISS mainman András Nagy] happened due to personal issues that [were] rooted in disagreement between us concerning band management. These disagreements led to personal conflicts that meant the end of our story.
"We wish SEAR BLISS all the best, but we focus on I DIVINE now.
"We needed a charismatic frontman, so we recruited Balázs Tóth, the vocalist of TESSTIMONY. The bass player is Attila Király, who was the bandmate of Attila Kovács in VARSO for years. They fit perfectly in our vision both musically and personally.
"As a start, we recorded two new songs that can be listened to and downloaded at our official MySpace profile. You can read a thorough studio diary about the recording session in the blog section, too.
"We have had two gigs so far, but these will be followed by many.
"We are proud that our first gig in Budapest will be at the Hungarian chapter of Metalfest Open Air in May and we can share the stage with some highly appreciated bands. There are plans for a European tour, too.
"We hope we'll meet soon and we'll show you the live manifestation of divinity."

BURNING POINT Hard At Work On New Album
 Finnish metallers BURNING POINT have entered the studio to record their as-yet-untitled fifth CD, tentatively due later in the year. The group says, "All in all, 21 songs [are being laid down during the sessions]. All the drums are recorded as well as 80% of the final rhythm guitars, and although there's nothing else there yet, the songs sound AWESOME! It's going to be very hard to decide which songs we put on the album but our plan is to choose, somewhere along the line, 10-12 best from the best."
BURNING POINT filmed its performance at last year's Jalometalli metal music festival — which was held August 14-15, 2009 at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland — for a forthcoming DVD.
BURNING POINT is featured on "ReUnation - A Tribute To Running Wild", the tribute to German metal legends RUNNING WILD which contains cover versions of songs exclusively from the albums "The Rivalry" (1998), "Victory" (2000), "The Brotherhood" (2002) and "Rogues En Vogue" (2005).
BURNING POINT's fourth album, "Empyre", was released in February 2009 via Metal Heaven. The artwork for the CD was handled by Felipe Machado Franco who had previously worked with such artists as ICED EARTH, AXEL RUDI PELL and BLAZE BAYLEY.

EVANESCENCE To Enter Studio This Week
 EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee has confirmed that the band will enter the studio this week with Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, THE ROLLING STONES, PETER GABRIEL, CHRIS CORNELL) to begin recording its third album for a late fall 2010 release.
"I can't explain how excited I am to make this record," said Lee. "Over the past year and a half, these songs have become the center of my life, and I can't wait to hear what they grow into in the studio. I think our sound is evolving into something that will surprise people, in a very good way. I feel, as always, that growth can be an incredible, limitless thing if you let it. I never want to make the same album twice."
EVANESCENCE returned to the stage for the first time since 2007 on November 4, 2009, playing a "secret" show at the 1,000-capacity Grand Ballroom in New York City. In addition to Amy Lee, the lineup was almost the same that fans last saw, with Terry Balsamo on guitar, Tim McCord on bass and Will Hunt on drums. Second guitarist Troy McLawhorn was reportedly unable to make the show and was replaced by FINGER ELEVEN axeman James Black. The set was a warm-up for a November 8, 2009 gig that the band played in front of 40,000 people in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

KALMAH: \'12 Gauge\' Video Released
 Finnish metallers KALMAH filmed a video for the song "12 Gauge" on February 20 in the band's hometown of Pudasjärvi. The group states, "The thermometer was pretty low, -37 Celsius as we started. By the end of the day it was -27. It was freezing, but anyways we managed to pull it out."
The clip can now be viewed below.
"12 Gauge" is the title track of KALMAH's sixth album, which is scheduled for release on March 3 via Spinefarm Records. The CD, which which was made available in Japan on February 24, was recorded between June and August 2009 at Tico Tico studio in Kemi, Finland and was mastered at the Cutting Room in Sweden. Nine new songs and one cover version were laid down during the sessions which "went [smoothly], as always, even though this time the recordings were done in three different time periods within a half a year," according to the band.

SALEM: Entire New Album Available For Streaming
 "Playing God And Other Short Stories", the seventh full-length album from Israeli extreme metallers SALEM, is available for streaming in its entirety at AOL Music. The CD, which will be released later in the year via Pulverised Records, was recorded at Harold Studios in Israel and was mastered by UE Nastasi at Sterling Sound in New York City.
"Playing God And Other Short Stories" features a guest appearance by AT THE GATES frontman Tomas Lindberg, who shares vocal duties on "The Mark Of The Beast Part 1" and sings exclusively on "The Mark Of The Beast Part 2". The album also includes SALEM's unique cover version of one of Bob Marley's most recognizable songs — "Exodus".

ODYSSEY: \'Reinventing The Past\' Artwork Unveiled
 Back in 1999, Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based Utopian Vision Music released a three-song self-titled EP by ODYSSEY, a band featuring Swedish multi-instrumentalist/producer Dan Swanö (NIGHTINGALE, EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH), Rick Gustafson (ex-MEMORY GARDEN), and Kenth Philipsson (DARK FUNERAL, THE PROJECT HATE). The EP has long been out of print and is a much-sought-after collector's item.
Later this year, Vic Records, which acquired the rights to the EP in 2007, will re-release this slab of epic progressive metal. The EP was remastered by Swanö and will feature no less than six brand new cover versions:

'Eyes Of The World' was demoed once before for a cancelled NIGHTINGALE EP where we all recorded one song each and played all instruments too. 'At the Gallows End' and 'Lost Horizons' were both candidates for the cover of choice for 'Until Eternity Ends' until I accidentally stumbled on 'Invisible Sun' and felt a 'black album' treatment of that would be a far more original choice ('Lost Horizons' was also covered by MEMENTO MORI at the same time... same label)."

ECLIPSE ETERNAL: New Song Posted Online
 Canadian epic black metal band ECLIPSE ETERNAL has posted a brand new song, "Ancient Voices On The Wind", at this location. The track will appear on the group's just-completed two-song EP which was recorded at Eclipse Studios with Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH, KING DIAMOND), who engineered ECLIPSE ETERNAL's first album, 'Reign Of The Unholy Blackened Empire'. The band states, "It is a rough mix so do not expect this to be the way it sounds on the actual finished album."
The two new songs, "Ancient Voices On The Wind" and "Writing With A Razor Upon The Blue Lines", will be available for sale in a special black-disc version at ECLIPSE ETERNAL's show with IMMORTAL on March 27 (where ECLIPSE ETERNAL will also be performing these songs). As there will not be a second printing and these songs will eventually be remixed and remastered to fit with the rest of ECLIPSE ETERNAL's upcoming full-length album, this will be your only chance to hear these new songs in this format.
ECLIPSE ETERNAL frontman Voldamares previously stated about the band's new material, "With this album we've thrown away any rules (either self-made or scene-generated) and have instead focused on making the best songs possible. In so doing, we have probably written the most varied and expansive album of our career to date. The songs range from fast mind-fucks to depressive epics, from melodic odes to extinction to raging, bile-filled thrashers. The thread that binds all these together is the lyrical theme of the senselessness and hollowness of life and the exploration of death in its many forms. ACCEPT To Play Series Of \'Secret Small Gigs\' In Europe
 Following their eagerly awaited return to the live stage at the almost-sold-out Gramercy Theatre in New York City, reformed heavy metal legends ACCEPT will be heading to Europe to perform special shows in carefully handpicked venues in various European capitals!
ACCEPT has chosen to play these publicity concerts in small, intimate settings to get close to its longtime fans.
After a decade-long absence, ACCEPT wants to make this a special "thank you" to its European fans, who will be able to attend specially arranged meet-and-greet sessions at each of these shows. In addition, the band will be available for autograph sessions, photo opportunities and interviews during this short trek.
Confirmed dates so far are as follows:
May 08 - New York, NY - Gramercy Theater
May 11 - Vilnius, Lithuania - Forum Palace
May 14 - Moscow, Russia - B1 Maximum
May 15 - St. Petersburg, Russia - Lensoveta Theater

The remaining dates and locations will be announced within the next few days.
Rumors surrounding these shows have started to pop up all over the Internet due to the exceptionally high anticipation around the world to hear and see the new ACCEPT lineup — featuring the band's latest addition, vocalist Mark Tornillo (ex-TT QUICK) — perform.
In an effort to keep the arrangements a surprise for the fans, ACCEPT has had a difficult time lining up these concerts. Only one or two shows per country will be finalized and not all nations will be included as ACCEPT has a very limited amount of time available before it focuses on promoting its upcoming comeback album.
Following the CD's release and the intimate European "fan-focused" shows, preparations for a full-fledged world tour will start this summer.
"We can't wait to go out and play again," said bassist Peter Baltes. "Just because [former ACCEPT singer] Udo Dirkschneider isn't available to take part in the reunion doesn't mean we'll have to sit idle any longer. We feel Mark is the perfect fit. Mark is an experienced veteran singer who is aware of the ACCEPT legacy and his voice fits the sound of ACCEPT perfectly.
"Wolf [Hoffmann, guitar] and I have always been the songwriting team — most of the classic ACCEPT tunes were written that way; together with Deaffy, a.k.a. Gaby Hoffmann, as a lyricist."
ACCEPT recently completed recording its new album, tentatively titled "Blood Of Nations", at Backstage Studio in Derbyshire, England with acclaimed British producer and SABBAT guitarist Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE). The CD — which will mark the recording debut of Tornillo — will include around 14 tracks and be released before the summer via an as-yet-undetermined record label. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Abyss", "Shades Of Death", "Blood Of Nations", "Pandemic" and "Teutonic Terror".
BLABBERMOUTH.NET in December uploaded exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for the new ACCEPT album. The six-and-a-half-minute clip, which includes interview footage with Sneap and members of the band, as well as audio samples of the group's new material, can be viewed below.
Regarding Tornillo's addition to ACCEPT, Hoffmann previously said, "It all happened in minutes. Peter and I were working on some tunes in a studio in New Jersey. Somebody suggested we give this guy Mark a call to see if he would join us on vocals. So when he arrived we started jamming on some old ACCEPT tunes — just for fun. As soon as Mark started singing we looked at each other and realized the impossible just happened: we found a new voice for ACCEPT! The timing could not have been better! Now or never... We are re-energized and excited..."
TT QUICK was a popular club band during the 1980s in the New York and New Jersey area and was known for the guitar work of David Dipietro and the powerful vocals of Mark Tornillo. Dipietro's skills were especially singled out as he had given lessons to both Zakk Wylde of the OZZY OSBOURNE band and SKID ROW's Dave Sabo.
TT QUICK disbanded and later reunited sporadically and released a few more albums, including a live CD from one of their reunion gigs ("Thrown Together Live") and a studio effort, "Ink", which came out in 2000.

SICK OF IT ALL: New Album Track Listing
 New York hardcore legends SICK OF IT ALL will release their new album,"Based On A True Story", on April 20 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Death To Tyrants" was recorded Antfarm Studios in Århus, Denmark with Danish producer Tue Madsen (HALFORD, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, THE HAUNTED).
Regarding the direction of the new material, SICK OF IT ALL singer Lou Koller told the LimeWire Music Blog, "It's typical us. It's a mixture of what we love — old-school sing-along Oi! music mixed with modern hardcore. That's what we do."

MOON Begins Recording New Album
 MOON, the Polish death/black metal band led by Cezar (CHRIST AGONY), entered Sinquest Studio in Lublin on February 20 to begin recording its third album, "Lucifer's Horns", for an August release. The recording and engineering duties are being handled by Arek "Malta" Malczewski, who has previously worked with BEHEMOTH, among other acts. He will also co-produce the CD, along with Cezar.
"Lucifer's Horns" will be released by Witching Hour Productions on digipack format and as an extra limited package with a digipack and a T-shirt. The LP version will also be made available.
In other news, reissues of two first albums by MOON ("Demon's Heart" and "Satan's Wept", originally released in 1997 and 1999, respectively, by Pagan Records) will be made available in March. They will be released as one double-digipack package under the title "Devil's Return", featuring a new cover and layout.

THEATRE OF TRAGEDY Calling It Quits
 Norway's THEATRE OF TRAGEDY has released the following statement:
"After nearly 17 years in existence, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY has decided to call it a day and close down.
"This has not been an easy decision to make and we have thought about this for a long long time. We finally agreed to this during the production of our latest album, 'Forever Is The World'.
"THEATRE OF TRAGEDY will come to an end on October 2, 2010, exactly 17 years after we started making music together.
"Over the years all of us have strived to combine the THEATRE with everyday life but in the end it has proven more and more difficult.
We have come to appreciate our family lives and jobs, which makes it very hard to continue this life of rock 'n' roll on the road.
"We know that some of you will probably be very disappointed, but we also hope you will continue to listen to our music, which all of you learned to appreciate and love so much.
"We want to thank everyone of you for all your support over the past 17 years! THEATRE OF TRAGEDY wouldn't have been possible without you!
"Be sure to catch us on the last THEATRE OF TRAGEDY shows ever this year!
"The final gig will take place on October 2 in Stavanger, where it all began.
"Our music will live on... and forever is the world."

POWER QUEST To Enter Studio In July
 U.K-based metallers POWER QUEST will enter Remaster Studio in Vicenza, Italy on July 5 with producer Nick Savio to begin recording their fifth, as-yet- untitled album for a late 2010 release via Napalm Records. The band states, "This fantastic studio was where the majority of the [last POWER QUEST album] 'Master of Illusion' was recorded."
Adds band leader Steve Williams: "It's going to be great to be back in Italy and to be working with Nick again and I'm expecting to run into one or two very familiar faces during the recording process!"
In the meantime, POWER QUEST will demo three new tracks for Napalm at the end of March at Aubitt Studios in Southampton. The following songs are set for inclusion in the recordings: "Sacrifice", "Time to Burn" and "Rising Anew".

Details of the new album of UNLEASHED
 Swedish death metal veterans UNLEASHED will release their tenth full-length album, "As Yggdrasil Trembles", on March 19 in Europe and April 6 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast Records. According to the band, the musical direction of the forthcoming CD, which was recorded at guitarist Fredrik Folkare's Chrome studio, is "the logical continuation from 'Midvinterblot' [2006] and 'Hammer Battalion' [2008]. Lyrically, you will recognize what has become the UNLEASHED trademark since more than 20 years, the combination of the past, present and future of viking struggle and way of life. A few of the songs also mark the beginning of a story never before told."

AMBERIAN DAWN\'s Next Album To Feature Guest Appearance By Professional Opera Singer
 Finnish female-fronted symphonic metallers AMBERIAN DAWN entered the studio on November 23, 2009 in Hyvinkää, Finland to begin recording its new album for a late spring release.
Commented the band: "We are proud to announce that professional opera singer, baritone Markus Nieminen is going to [guest] on our next album. Markus has been singing for the Vienna State Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Sempreoper in Dresden, opera houses in Basil and St. Gallen and in Volksopera, Vienna.
"AMBERIAN DAWN likes to experiment with different kinds of styles of music. So, on the next album, there's going to be one classical piece (a walz) on which Heidi's [Parviainen, AMBERIAN DAWN singer] going to duet with Markus.
"We are expecting the most special and stunning song so far."
According to the band, "The new album is going to be more diverse, faster and darker than our previous albums. The fastest AMBERIAN DAWN songs to date contrast some extremely slow and heavy songs."
AMBERIAN DAWN last year completed a European tour as the support band for EPICA. Also appearing on the bill was SONS OF SEASONS, the new progressive/symphonic metal band led by keyboardist/guitarist Oliver Palotai (KAMELOT, DORO).
AMBERIAN DAWN's second album, "The Clouds of Northland Thunder" was released in Europe on June 29, 2009 via Ascendance Records.
AMBERIAN DAWN guitarist Tuomas Seppälä, who has played the keyboards in the studio on the band's albums, in 2009 became the group's full-time keyboardist. The new AMBERIAN DAWN axeman is Emil Pohjalainen, who is described as "a talented shredder from Finland."

DARKTHRONE: \'Circle The Wagons\' Audio Samples Available
 Norway's DARKTHRONE will welcome a new decade with a new album, to be released on Peaceville Records. "Circle The Wagons", a creative feast of metal and punk, will initially be released on vinyl on March 8 through the Peaceville Records webstore as an exclusive taster for the legions of metal supporters out there who still care about great music delivered the classic way. The vinyl will also include a link to download a digital version of the album, which will be available when the regular and special edition CD versions of the album are released on April 6. The special edition is packaged in a natural rough board slipcased digipack with a 24-page booklet, including an additional band history by Fenriz. This deluxe edition also features an exclusive 12-minute video of the band's inspirations for the album, shot at the mastering house in Oslo.
The special edition and the vinyl edition can now be pre-ordered now at the "Circle The Wagons" mini-site at this location. The mini-site also features audio samples, record recommendations, downloads and much more.
"Circle the Wagons" was self-recorded at Necrohell II Studios. Artwork for the album comes once again courtesy of Dennis Dread, notable for his talents on previous DARKTHRONE albums, "F.O.A.D." and 2008's "Dark Thrones and Black Flags".

UNEARTHLY TRANCE Begins Recording New Album
 New York's UNEARTHLY TRANCE will enter SIR studios in the band's hometown this weekend with engineer Sanford Parker to begin recording its fifth album, aptly titled "V", for a late spring release via Relapse Records. After completing the basic tracks with Parker, the band will continue to self-record with additional help from trusted experts along the way.
According to a press release, "V" "will mark another twist on UNEARTHLY TRANCE's sound, with slower-paced riffs, raw sonics and even more progressed songwriting.
"The band is taking its sound towards creatively darker and strangely morbid realm."
"V" will feature artwork by Glyn Scrawled.
UNEARTHLY TRANCE recently teamed up with VOLITION for a limited-edition split seven-inch single of WINTER covers. UNEARTHLY TRANCE recorded its take on "Servants of the Warsmen" and VOLITION covered "Eternal Frost".
Reissues of UNEARTHLY TRANCE's first two albums, "Season of Séance, Science of Silence" and "In The Red", will be made avaialble on double vinyl later this year via Parasitic Records. The band is also working on a split 12-inch EP with THE ENDLESS BLOCKADE. | 0 | |

HEIDEVOLK: Trailer For New Album Released
 Dutch folk metal six-piece HEIDEVOLK will release its new album, "Uit Oude Grond" ("From Old Soil"), on March 26 via Napalm Records.
"Uit Oude Grond" was recorded at S&K Studio in Doetinchem, Holland with producer Dick Kemper. 11 songs were laid down during the sessions "ranging from epic and solemn folk tunes to brutal and merciless metal riffs," according to a press release. The CD was mixed and mastered by Dick Kemper while Awik Balaian created the album artwork.

FAITH NO MORE Singer Exposes Himself In Brisbane
 A photo of FAITH NO MORE frontman Mike Patton exposing himself for the camera during the band's February 20, 2010 concert in Brisbane, Australia as part of the Soundwave Festival can be found at Dlisted.com. (Warning: Intended for mature audiences only.) The incident apparently occured halfway through FAITH NO MORE's performance of the song "Just a Man" after the singer made his way towards an onstage cameraman and took over the camera, using it to tape the audience. He then pulled out his manhood, and showed it to the camera before the song's close.
FAITH NO MORE will play three shows in the band's hometown of San Francisco in early April at the Warfield Theatre. The concerts will serve as a warm-up for the band's appearance the following weekend at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California.
FAITH NO MORE reunited last year and has played European shows, but has yet to announce a full North American trek.
FAITH NO MORE kicked off its reunion tour on June 10, 2009 with a headlining performance at the Brixton Academy in London, England.
Original guitarist Jim Martin is not part of the reunion. Performing in his place is Jon Hudson, who played with FAITH NO MORE during the latter stages of its initial run after Martin departed.
The rest of the band's best-known lineup — singer Mike Patton, Gould, drummer Mike "Puffy" Bordin and keyboardist Roddy Bottum — is intact.
FAITH NO MORE released "The Very Best Definitive Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection" in June 2009 in the U.K. via Rhino Records.
This double disc set contains the band's greatest hits on the first CD, while the second CD features b-sides and rarities.
