VINNIE PAUL To Release Cookbook
At Wednesday's (February 17) press conference in Los Angeles to announce the nominees of nine different categories for the second annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott (HELLYEAH, PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) told Liz Ohanesian of LA Weekly that his next venture is a cookbook called "Drumming up an Appetite with Vinnie Paul", which he says he would like to release towards the end of the year.
"It's got a picture of me sitting behind a drum set with a turkey leg in one hand and a chicken leg in another," he said.
Paul told a little bit about his favorite dishes. " I love cooking fajitas. I'm from Texas and it's not a difficult thing to do, but a lot of people burn the chicken."
He's also a fan of stuffed jalapeños. " I take fresh jalapeños, put cream cheese on them, maybe a little fajita seasoning, cheddar cheese on top and the key ingredient, which I learned in Australia, is barbecue sauce. Don't put hot sauce on it, just a little barbecue sauce on them. Put them on the grill."

GODLESS RISING - New Album Release Bumped To May
Ex-ONWARD guitarist Toby Knapp (GODLESS RISING) has issued the following update:
"I will be chatting live with Metal Messiah Radio Monday February 22 (9 PM PST/Midnight EST). More details on this and other radio interviews coming soon! The Godless Rising album Trumpet Of Triumph will now be released in early May on Moribund Records, so all tour plans if any will have to be re-routed and the band is once again fucked in the percussion department. I am not calling forth any potential drummers because I am tired of flakes, bullshitters and wannabees. The recently released solo album The Campaign is doing well but is also the target of countless illegal download sites, so if you receive the album via these means may your computer be eternally spammed with gay pornography. Pick up the album at Myspace.com/shredguyrecords."

Exclusive: NIGHTWISH - Mainman Tuomas Holopainen Currently Writing New Album; Band To Reconvene In July
Management has informed BraveWords.com that while there will be no new album until September of 2011, there are developments within the NIGHTWISH camp. Mainman Tuomas Holopainen is currently writing the follow-up to 2007's Dark Passion Play which featured new singer Anette Olzon. The band will get together in July to record a demo of the ideas Holopainen has come up with. After that, he will live with the music, to determine if it just needs tinkering, or additional pieces must be created.
Currently the band is investigating the possibility of starting the next world tour in Los Angeles. Plans would call for a one-off North American exclusive at the 6,000 seat auditorium within the Universal Amphitheater. This venue would allow Nightwish to bring pyro and the full production to North America for the first time. A full continental tour would commence three-four months later, tentatively billed as late 2011, or early 2012.
NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has issued the following update on her official blog:
"Some of you have asked me about whether or not I will release a solo album.
I have decided not to release any solo album.
The factors are mainly that I want to focus on my family during this break from Nightwish. I am sure I will do a solo some other time, but at this time it doesn't fit into my life and then it's better to not do it, than to do it and it just won't feel good.
But I hope you all will follow me and the boys in NW from the summer when we start to work with the new album. It will be fun!!"

MOONSORROW - New CD, DVD In The Works
In Helsinki, BraveWords.com learned from MOONSORROW's Ville Sorvali (bass/vocals) of the band's plans, which includes setting foot on North American soil, for the a late May begun tour.
"Henri (brother, guitar) has just finished writing the lyrics for FINNTROLL, so he hasn't begun to do stuff for us, yet. We are going into the studio in December. It would be too quick to release something before February 2011. It will be shorter songs this time. We must reinvent ourselves with each album. It's a challenge to writer shorter songs. The CD will be their last under the current contract with Spinefarm and include a DVD, which Sorvali claims, "Will be a documentary, but it will go into stuff that other bands are afraid to talk about."

WARD On Quitting HEAVEN & HELL: I Was Uncomfortable With Some Things Surrounding The Project
BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward spoke to Tom Russell of U.K.'s Rock Radio about why he terminated his involvement with HEAVEN & HELL — the band featuring fellow SABBATH members Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Ronnie James Dio (vocals) — in November 2006 while the group was recording three new tracks to be included on the BLACK SABBATH collection "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years".
"There was a track that I was uncomfortable with," he said. "And I was trying to accomodate the wishes of a couple of the bandmembers, and I'm not very good when I have to do that. I guess I'm just not that kind of a drummer; I have to play the way that I feel it. The way that a couple of the guys wanted the drumming to be, I was unable to accomodate it; I didn't see it that way at all. So it was a problem musically.
"All the way through that particular project, everybody had an open mind — I had an open mind; I didn't know if it was gonna work or not work. I went in there and tried to lay some track in the best way I could, and it was one of those musical things that didn't work out, as far as I was concerned.
"I can't remember initially... I think there were a couple of other... I have never actually spoken publicly about this — I had made a couple of remarks before in the press — but at the time, I think, there were some things that were said about me having other schedules to meet and so on and so forth, and that wasn't the case at all. It was definitely a misunderstanding.
"I was uncomfortable with some of the things surrounding that particular project. So, that was it. And I moved out. I thought Vinny [Appice, former SABBATH and current HEAVEN & HELL drummer] would be a much better choice [for HEAVEN & HELL], because Vinny is able to do those kinds of things... he's able to accomodate the kinds of things the kind of things that were being asked, and I'm not. I react. I'm a reactionary drummer, and Vinny plays drums; there's a big difference between us."

Classic DOKKEN Lineup To Reunite For New Album, Tour
On Sunday, February 21, guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, SOULS OF WE, DOKKEN) was interviewed by host Jim Alvino on the "Turn It Up" show on the WSCA 106.1 FM radio station. Topics of discussion included new albums by SOULS OF WE and LYNCH MOB; songwriting; recording with other artists; and LYNCH MOB's November 2009 West Coast shows as the support act for DOKKEN. During the chat, Lynch also revealed that he has been writing songs for a new DOKKEN album with the band's classic 1980s lineup.
An excerpt from the interview follows below.
Turn It Up: The shows that you did at the end of last year, with LYNCH MOB opening for DOKKEN, and at the end the classic lineup of DOKKEN playing together again, has that now blown up into that lineup working together again?
George Lynch: "Yes, actually it has. And that's something that isn't gonna happen for a little while. We all have our respective commitments, meaning Jeff, Mick, Don and myself are all real busy this year doing other things. But we've all made a commitment to each other to dedicate ourselves to getting back together. We've already got three songs on the table and we're gonna continue to write throughout the year and put the whole business together and probably go in the studio late fall or early winter of this year and then have a record out toward late spring of next year, and then hit the road." | 0

TORTURE DIVISION Putting Finishing Touches On New Demo
TORTURE DIVISION, the Swedish death metal project featuring guitarist Lord K. Philipson (THE PROJECT HATE, GOD AMONG INSECTS, ex-LEUKEMIA), bassist/vocalist Jörgen Sandström (VICIOUS ART, THE PROJECT HATE, ex-ENTOMBED, GRAVE) and drummer Tobias "Tobben" Gustafsson (VOMITORY), recently entered the studio to begin recording the second part of the band's second demo trilogy, "Evighetens Dårar". The group states, "[Jörgen Sandström] finished up his vocals this past Saturday so all we are waiting for now is some guest vocals that we hope will happen. We are not going to wait around forever for those to come in so if it takes more than a few days, we will scrap the idea and use those vocals on the last part of Trilogy 2 instead."
The band adds, "This is shaping up real nice and hopefully we'll be able to hand over everything to [Dan] Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH, NIGHTINGALE) for the mixing job [as soon as possible.
"Four tunes have been recorded. One of those four goes for a compilation album that we'll participate on.
"You'll get three amazing 'n' blasting tunes on the demo — and we are positive you will fucken adore the insanity and intensity displayed within them. We are truly satisfied with how they sound and can't wait for Swanö to give them that final punch that comes with his amazing productions."
"Evighetens Dårar I" was released in August and it featured the songs "Heretics! Now!", "Eld Och Plågor" and "Traumatic Inhuman Severance". The demo was once again mixed by Dan Swanö. For one of the songs, TORTURE DIVISION invited its fans to send in a recording of them screaming the word "HAIL!", with and every one of the few hundred contributions making it into the song. | 0

HACRIDE Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
French progressive metal band HACRIDE has parted ways with its original drummer Olivier Laffond and has replaced him with Mike Roponus (OM MANI).
Commented HACRIDE vocalist Samuel Bourreau: "We've been using Mike's services over the past few months because of Olivier's wife pregnancy. It was originally supposed to be a temporary situation, but he decided to quit the band to focus on his new family responsibilities, which we perfectly understand. It feels a bit weird for us because we have had the same stable lineup since the band's birth. On top of being a great friend, Mike has proved to be one of the best drummers known to us. We are glad to have him as a full member of HACRIDE."
Mike Roponus was officially announced as HACRIDE's new drummer during the band's February 18 concert in Toulouse, France. Video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

NIKKI SIXX Issues SIXX: A.M. Album Update
SIXX: A.M. — the band featuring MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx alongside James Michael (vocals) and DJ Ashba (guitar) — is continuing to write and record material for its second album, tentatively due before the end of the year.
SIXX: A.M. is the project Sixx started a couple of years ago whose debut disc acted as a "soundtrack" to Sixx's memoir, "The Heroin Diaries".
Commented Sixx: "DJ laid down guitars yesterday on a few tracks [for the forthcoming SIXX: A.M. album]. Today is bass and a new tune we're just finishing up.
"Some very SIXX: A.M. left turns on this album...
"I don't remember laughing this much in the studio in a long time.
"I imagine there is over two albums worth of material written, but just like last time, it will probably be a single album... The cream always rises to the top... No filler allowed."
In a summer 2009 interview with Road Crew Magazine, James Michael stated about the forthcoming SIXX: A.M. CD, "The new SIXX: A.M. record, it's kind of gonna be a long time coming, just like the first one was. . . What I can tell you is that it's gonna be more than just a record full of songs; it is gonna be attached to some other things, and they are things that are really inspiring to all of us. And that's really all I can say at this point."
On whether the forthcoming CD will be more about all three members of the band as opposed to focusing primarily on Nikki, James said, "Yeah. In fact, I think that the last record ended up being about all three of us in different ways. A lot of the songs even were written before 'The Heroin Diaries' book came about, but they all just fit in so well, and we kind of adjusted them to work. I think that's why 'The Heroin Diaries' soundtrack so well — we were all sharing our personal experiences with it, and we found a universal theme that kind of worked. Nikki's book happened to be the catalyst for that and happened to be the guiding force, and I think that's kind of what we're doing on this one. Because for three songwriters to be in a room writing, it can't just be about one of those songwriters; I think that it has to be about shared experiences."
Although SIXX: A.M. was initially just a studio project, a touring lineup did go on the road in 2008 as part of the first Crüe Fest package,
SIXX A.M.'s debut featured the hit "Life Is Beautiful".
