ADAGIO Parts Ways With Singer
 French neo-classical metallers ADAGIO have parted ways with their Finnish singer Christian Palin.
Commented guitarist Stéphan Forté: "We have had no other choice but to separate from Christian Palin this morning. That is a decision we needed to take as soon as possible for the best of ADAGIO. We have no hard feelings towards him and wish him all the best for the future."

WES BORLAND: \'Everyone Who Hated LIMP BIZKIT Before Will Continue To Hate LIMP BIZKIT\'
 Guitar Edge's Elliott Politte conducted an interview with LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland at the Yamaha booth at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 14-17, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Watch the chat below.
When asked about the sound of the forthcoming LIMP BIZKIT album, "Gold Cobra", Borland replied, "I think that everyone who hated LIMP BIZKIT before will continue to hate LIMP BIZKIT. It's not like we, all of a sudden, grew up and started making smarter music. It's definitely a fun, party kind of vibe. It's a little bit like the old stuff, but with a little bit of maybe a [French electronic music duo] DAFT PUNK vibe thrown in on some of it. There's big, huge riffs and hopefully catchy lyrics."
Due this spring through Interscope/Polydor, "Gold Cobra" will be LIMP BIZKIT's first new studio album with the original lineup since 2000's "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water". "We will slowly be revealing the meaning of the [LP] title," frontman Fred Durst told Kerrang! magazine late last year. "Cobras are quite venomous. I wish it were a much longer, more ridiculous title, but 'Gold Cobra' is as ridiculous as we're going to get right now."
Durst told NME.com, "I'm having a great feeling about going in and doing [the new LIMP BIZKIT CD], more than I have about any of our albums before. It's not going to be a watered-down version of LIMP BIZKIT, it's going to be a more explosive, more addictive, more driven version of LIMP BIZKIT."

VILE: New Album Update
 Colin Davis, founding member and songwriter of Californian brutal death metallers VILE, has issued the following update:
"The [new VILE] album has been almost completed for several months now and I have been working through many technical difficulties that arise when you record with musicians who live across the world.
"It just so happens that the current band membership includes musicians who have other projects, jobs, other priorities as well. And it's understandable because I do, too. I run a CD mastering studio and have been studying law in my spare time also.
"I have reached a point where I can't pull my hair out with anxiety when things go more slowly than expected. This band's progress has always been on the slow side.
"As all of you know, what we release is very high quality and that won't change, but, unfortunately, that comes at the price of a slower pace.
"As of today, I am about four weeks away from mixing and then that will take another 4-5 weeks. I don't see any reason why that timeline will change at this point though. After that, I will have to do some business related to the record label situation and I will release another song after the album is finished. Maybe another one a little bit later.
"If the label situation goes well, we will release the album this summer and hopefully a tour will happen in the fall. But first things are first....get this album finished." | 0 | |

SLAYER Drummer To Guest On APOCALYPTICA\'s New Album
 Finnish cello-rockers APOCALYPTICA just announced a summer debut for their latest metal-inspired creation. The new album will follow up their chart-topping release "Worlds Collide" (2007) featuring the #1 Billboard single "I Don't Care" produced by Howard Benson (MOTÖRHEAD, PAPA ROACH, SEPULTURA). THREE DAYS GRACE frontman Adam Gontier provided vocals for the track and sultry video, which became a top 20 fixture on the modern rock charts for nearly an entire year.
On this seventh studio album, fans can look forward to more of Benson's production as well as strong artistic direction from Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, COHEED & CAMBRIA), who is presently in Finland with the quartet perfecting the final details. Dave Lombardo of SLAYER, along with several other surprise guest musicians, are also set to participate in the project.
Classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and drummer Mikko Sirén are currently putting finishing touches on the album and gearing up for their February invasion of Kaapelitehdas, Finland's world-famous metal expo. By early March the band will return to Los Angeles and prepare to unveil the anticipated album on an international stage.
"Worlds Collide" has sold around a quarter million copies in the U.S. and marks the group's first significant success in this country in APOCALYPTICA's 15-year career. APOCALYPTICA's Paavo Lotjonen told The Pulse of Radio that their newfound recognition has been worth all the effort. "It's been really amazing, all the success we have got," he said. "Of course it has taken a lot of work and we have given our heart to this. But I feel that it's been worth that and we have reached something new."

AMORPHIS To Release \'Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes\' DVD In June
 AMORPHIS will release its first-ever live DVD, "Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes", in early June via Nuclear Blast, in time for the band's 20th anniversary. The filming took place on November 20, 2009 at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland, where AMORPHIS was supported by STRATOVARIUS and BEFORE THE DAWN. REVAMP Signs With NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS

SCAR SYMMETRY Drummer To Record BOTH OF ME Debut EP

Guitarist JESPER STRÖMBLAD Quits IN FLAMES
 Guitarist Jesper Strömblad has officially quit Swedish metallers IN FLAMES. He says in a statement, "I have decided it is best for me to leave IN FLAMES and to quit the band permanently.
"The last 17 years have been a blast, and I am proud to have been part of this great journey, with the most talented and amazing people anyone can wish to have the privilege to work with. I'm also the luckiest guy in the world, to have the BEST fans in the world, who have been supporting me during my difficult times. It means the world to me, and I'm determined to fight and defeat my demons once and for all…. and by the help from you guys, I'm on my way.
"I'm far from done with music, metal, or whatever my direction is taking me, so be sure to hear from me in the future."
The remaining members of IN FLAMES have released the following statement regarding Jesper's decision to leave the band:
"We are losing a great guitar player and musician, but in order to keep a very dear friend this is probably for the best. If this feels right for Jesper, we are behind him 100% on his decision.
"It is way too early to speculate about the future and possible replacements and things like that. However, we can assure you that IN FLAMES will continue as a band, release albums and tour the world.
"The door to IN FLAMES is always open to Jesper. We are, and will always be, behind Jesper 100% on his way to recovery."

SHADOWS FALL: \'Bark At The Moon\' Video Posted Online
 SHADOWS FALL's video for the band's blistering take on OZZY OSBOURNE's "Bark At The Moon" can be viewed below.
SHADOWS FALL's "Bark At The Moon" cover was featured on the deluxe version of the band's latest album, "Retribution", which came out on September 15, 2009. The deluxe CD also included bonus covers of NUCLEAR ASSAULT's "Critical Mass" and CRO-MAGS' "Age Of Quarrel", along with a companion DVD, featuring making-of-the-album footage, live material, lessons, interviews and more.
SHADOWS FALL will embark on its first-ever headlining tour of Canada. The trek will kick off on Wednesday, February 24 in Calgary, Alberta. Support on the tour will come from BISON B.C. and BAPTIZED IN BLOOD. Special guest GOATWHORE will be on the first six West Coast dates only.
Before they cross the border to the Great White North, SHADOWS FALL will play a headlining show at The Knitting Factory in Spokane, Washington with support from BISON B.C., BAPTIZED IN BLOOD and GOATWHORE.
"Retribution" sold around 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released via Everblack Industries, the label SHADOWS FALL created in conjunction with Warner Music Group's ILG, Ferret Music and ChannelZERO Entertainment.

 "Pakkolasku", the new video from Lemi, Finland-based metallers STAM1NA, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Tuomas Petsalo of Medialouhos. The song comes off the band's fourth full-length album, "Viimeinen Atlantis", which was released on February 10 via Sakara Records. KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI: New Album Title Announced
 Finnish symphonic folk metal band KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI has set "Betrayal, Justice, Revenge" as the title of its second album, due in late April via Century Media Records. According to the label, the group is "ready to surprise [the listeners] with [its] most diverse and mature album to date."
Formed in 2002 in Kouvola, Finland by brothers Joni (growls, guitar) and Antti Koskinen (keyboards, backing vocals), KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI previously recorded three demos — "Kristallivuoren Maa" (2002), "Taival" (2004) and "The New Chapter" (2007) — one EP called "Mustan Valtikan Aika" (2006), and a full-length album, "Shadowheart" (2008).
In 2009 the band toured the U.S. for the first time as part of the Heathenfest America with ELUVEITIE, BELPHEGOR, ALESTORM and VREID.

THE SWORD Taps Producer MATT BAYLES For New Album

GARY MOORE To Perform Hard Rock Set At SWEDEN ROCK Festival
 It's finally happening — Gary Moore is coming to Sweden Rock festival TO PLAY HARD ROCK!
The Northern Irish guitar legend has, obviously, been playing blues (and certain other things) for two decades now. But in Sweden, home of Gary's arguably most devoted fan base, he is still primarily remembered and cherished for his hard-rock classics.
He got his break in 1979, when "Parisienne Walkways" became a hit and he released the "Black Rose" album as a member of THIN LIZZY. His solo career began "for real" with "Corridors of Power" (1982), and subsequent releases, in particular the Celtic-inspired "Wild Frontier" (1987), made Gary famous in many countries and idolized in Sweden. His subsequent blues records also sold very well in Sweden, but his personal and emotional hard-rock songs remain the greatest favorites among Swedish fans. "Empty Rooms", "Out in the Fields", "Over the Hills and Far Away" and "After the War", to name but a few.
Now, after more than 20 years, classics as these, and the occasional THIN LIZZY nugget, will once more echo across the plains.
The Sweden Rock festival concert will be his only in Sweden.

EQUILIBRIUM Parts Ways With Vocalist, Drummer
 According to Metal Storm, German pagan metallers EQUILIBRIUM have parted ways with vocalist Helge Stang and drummer Manuel Di Camillo. This was first reported by the organizers of Winterfire Festival at which EQUILIBRIUM was supposed to perfom this coming weekend (February 13). The band itself has yet to confirm this information and has thus far only offered the following statement regarding the situation:
"We regret to inform you that we have to cancel our appearance at Winterfire Festival due to serious restructuring within the band. We regret this deeply and hope for your understanding. Of course we will inform you as soon as possible about the future of EQUILIBRIUM."

Former AMORAL Guitarist Launches THE NIBIRUAN
 THE NIBIRUAN, the new Finnish metal band featuring former AMORAL guitarist Silver Ots alongside Lauri Koskenniemi (guitar) and Eerik Purdon (bass) of SHEAR, is putting the finishing touches on its debut EP, to be released at the end of February.

HATE AMMO: Two New Demo Tracks Posted Online
 HATE AMMO — the Umeå, Sweden-based band featuring members of NAGLFAR, ASSAILANT, LIVE ELEPHANT, THOSE WHO BRING THE TORTURE and BONE GNAWER — has posted demo versions of two new songs, "A Solution" (working title) and "Just War", on the group's MySpace page. The band states, "We want you to get a hint on where we are going with the new tracks. The songs will be up for 24 hours starting now."
HATE AMMO recently inked a deal with Mortal Music Inc., the label founded by SOIL bassist Tim King and TWELFTH GATE's Rob Such.
The group's forthcoming debut album, for which a release date has not yet been announced, will feature the following track listing:
