Comments vocalist Mikael Stanne: "If you guys are into torture, you might get a kick out of [our new video]. Imagine being strapped to a speeding motorized vehicle like one of those wooden maidens on pirate ships for 15 hours in the freezing cold forests of Finland and you might get an idea of what the video is all about.
The guys from Vasara Films once again did an excellent job."
"Shadow In Our Blood" comes off DARK TRANQUILLITY's ninth album, "We Are The Void", which will be released via Century Media Records on the following dates:
* Sweden: February 24
* Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Italy, Australia: February 26
* Spain, Portugal: March 2
* Finland, Hungary: March 3
* U.K., France, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Rest Of Europe: March 1
* North America: March 9
DARK TRANQUILLITY is currently on the road in the U.S. with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. Stanne states, "Four shows into the tour, we are now in lovely Atlanta, Georgia.
"The shows so far have been amazing. Tons of people have come out to all the shows and we have had a blast performing every night.
"We have been trying out some of the new songs and the response has been amazing. So we cannot wait for the album to come out so that we can play more of the new stuff that we are very proud of."
The drums for "We Are The Void" were recorded at bassist Daniel Antonsson's studio, while the remaining instruments were tracked at Martin Brändström's (electronics) newly renovated Rogue music facility. The mixing duties were once again handled by Tue Madsen (HALFORD, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, THE HAUNTED) at his Antfarm studio in Århus, Denmark.

ORPHANED LAND: \'Sapari\' Video Available
"Sapari", the new video from Israeli progressive folk metal masters ORPHANED LAND, can be viewed below (courtesy of AOL's Noisecreep).
Commented ORPHANED LAND vocalist Kobi Farhi: "With the video clip, we are trying to reflect this inner search of a man and his spirit. The actor, Matti Atlas, was filmed in a room, sitting in a box, writing scared stuff. This is the exact way they used to sit and write in the old days in Yemen. He is writing… searching. At some point, he starts to freak out; to write on the walls, on his body, getting even possessed in a way. He is alone, confused, searching for answers and meaning, just as we all are.
"Sapari (means 'tell me' in Hebrew) is a 17th-century poem written by Sa'adia ben Amram, a jewish poet who lived in Yemen back then. The song is a duet between the poet and his soul. The poet seeks for his soul and asks her where is 'she.' The soul, described as a dove in the song, answers that she is at the high chamber, heavens, preparing herself to wear the shape of a human body.
"In a way, this song reflects the inner search that every human is going through. We are getting to know our self more and more each and every day, and our journey here is far from being easy."

REFLEXION To Release \'Edge\' This Month
Finnish dark-alternative-metal band REFLEXION will release its third album, "Edge", on February 17 in Finland and February 19 in the rest of Europe via Mach XX/Out of Line Records. According to a press release, "Thudding tribal drums and massive, deep guitar riffs infuse the band's dark melodic hit tunes with a refreshing kick that pleasantly distinguishes itself from the over produced kitsch that most of their fellow countrymen are sporting. This time around REFLEXION are playing it rough, spiffing up even their slow songs with SABBATH-esque doom riffs and toying with complex song structures that often border on prog metal, but without ever losing track of the catchy, often gloomy melodies that have made their first two albums nearly impossible to resist. 'Edge' is reveling in dark atmosphere and hit qualities but will probably cause some serious head banging attacks with metal veterans as well, due to a much harder approach."
"Edge" track listing:
01. Morning Sickness
02. Moscow Nights
03. Written on My Skin
04. Unbreakable
05. Generation Kill
06. Couldn't Care Less (THE CARDIGANS cover)
07. On This Dawn
08. No Roots on the Ground
09. Undress the Beauty
10. The Cage
11. Blind for Tomorrow
12. I've Burned Everything I've Got

BLIND GUARDIAN: Happy New Year
Some important words right at the beginning: A small step for mankind, but a gigantic one for me. "It is finished" as people with a more pathetic attitude probably would say. For the first time in my long life I finally managed to complete a computer game!!! I have to admit that I more or less only assisted my son throughout the whole journey and all in all was of little help, but that's of minor importance I have to say. Brave and courageous I stood by his side throughout the whole quest. Such complexity, such passion, such grandeur and beauty all in one story... What an overwhelming feeling, after all. Why didn't anyone tell me before? Yes, André and Marcus tried to convince me here and there, but they should have tried harder!!! Very soon they will taste my revenge, I tell you. I am intending to play "Guitar Hero" next and once I am better than Marcus and André (shouldn't take too long) ... they are history. The game which got me hooked? "Rabbids Go Home" of course. Who needs "WOW"?
For those who are not interested in computer games (even though I doubt the existence of such silly people) I also would like to tell you what is going in the Guardian camp. We are progressing quickly! Even I, who is always last in line, can sense the end of the recording session is close at hand. Maybe another four weeks and we should be done with all recordings.
Apart from some minor guitar, bass, percussion, flutes and effect parts the time mainly will be used for vocals. I have to sing two more songs, which would be "Curse my Name" and "Song 12". As some of you figured already this hardly will be the title of the song once vocals are finished, even though we have had a live album, which carries the provoking title "Live"...
Back to "Song 12". After counting all songs (and I did that again and again) I finally figured we only have worked on eleven in total. Don't blame me, blame André. He has called it "Song 12". What can I do? Well, I do have two choices. I either call it "Song 11" from today on or I keep it as it is. To create no further confusion I call it the "Eleventh song which is called Song 12" for now. It is another nice one, to say that much.
To finish the "still- to-do-list": We will end up recordings with some gigantic choir sessions, which will take some time to be completed. :-) Anyway, the stuff so far turned out even better than expected. Keep in mind it is me saying that and I partly have been involved. By now I assume it is no secret anymore that we twice have traveled to Prague during the last months for orchestral recordings. What can I say? It sounds brilliant. We have heavily used orchestration in "Sacred" (yes, the song will be on the album in an even longer and certainly better version) and naturally for "Wheel of Time" as well as in some other parts on the album. As probably said before, this will be our most bombastic and epic album so far. Whether there will be 8 or 9 songs on the album I do not know, by now. But each and every song has a completely different approach in comparison to each other and one compliments the other in a perfect way. Except probably for "Song 5" and "Song 10". Or was it "Song 10" and "Song 8"? I can't remember. So it won't matter, right? September you will know what I mean. :-) We may show mercy and provide you with some small samples, before. If I don't forget. What was I talking about?
As you may have noticed we have finally started to establish our Facebook profile. For us it is the easiest way to provide you with current information in a constant mode. The page is now run by our webmasters who do have the privilege to get some first hand information directly from the studio while accompanying us or directly communicating with us via Skype (yes, I do know this modern tool, too). For us it is really impressive to see how many people have joined us within such a short amount of time. Thanks for supporting us.
We, of course, still check the forum to see what is going on there. As there were many questions about where and when we play which country on the next upcoming world tour I can only say this much: The announced shows will only be the beginning of an extensive tour marathon. Our intention for sure will be to play all continents, again. I am very positive about a Northern American tour in late 2010. But nothing is yet confirmed. As usual you will find all necessary information with regard to tour dates once they are confirmed on the homepage. As for our friends in these European countries where no shows are announced for 2010: Patience is a virtue! Do not worry we will come by in 2011. That's for sure. We of course will do everything possible to visit our friends in Asia, South America , Australia and Africa sometime in 2011 as well. But unfortunately you will have to wait for announcements a little longer, I suppose. It's just a matter of time, I promise. As for the set list and the general live production I can promise this much: we will perform a lot of stuff from the new album and we are working on some very spectacular visual effects. To be more precise: We have people working on visual effects. :-)
Album title and album cover? We worry when we get there...
That's it from my side. Next infos will be provided by André.....just joking.
Hansi
Oh, by the way, did I say "A Happy New Year"? It's not too late, now, is it? "A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU"

DISTURBED Begins Recording Next Album
According to The Pulse of Radio, DISTURBED has hit the studio in its hometown of Chicago to begin recording its fifth album, with a tentative summer release date planned. The group has not yet announced a title for the project, which will follow up 2008's "Indestructible". Guitarist Dan Donegan told The Pulse of Radio that DISTURBED had 15 to 18 songs ready to go, adding that the band doesn't like to waste time once it gets started. "I mean, we definitely go in there very prepared," he said. "We never enter the studio unless we feel like, right now, if these are the songs we record, that we would have an album that we're proud of and we're excited about. And we put everything under the microscope and examine it the best we can to make sure that we're prepared. We don't like going in there wasting time. We go in there to work, and to try to make the best album we can."
Meanwhile, the band has set March 23 as the release date for the 10th anniversary edition of its debut album, "The Sickness". The set, which will also be available on vinyl, will feature B-sides, new artwork, and exclusive online content.
Around the same time, the group will re-launch its website with a special section, accessible only by a code included with new copies of "The Sickness", that will feature clips of the quartet in the studio recording their new album.

Dutch battle metal bashers ELEXORIEN have checked in with the following update:
"Hearken, proud Legions of the Blade, and hear our words, for we have been quiet for too long, now. Allow us to share something with you.
Something out of the ordinary, really. A thing which fills us with great pride and honour, and which has changed our perspective for the better, from a reminiscent gaze at what we have achieved so far, to boldly looking ahead at a bright and splendorous future for Elexorien.
My friends, we have found our new singer!
Nineteen years of age, she goes by the name of Lotte, and she will manifest baffling new definitions of sounding the siren call. Numerous events are being planned as we speak, so have no fear of missing out on an opportunity to behold us in full glory once more in the near future.
Exact dates and locations of said conquerings will be announced soon. We expect our Legion to be at its full strength, and present at all skirmishes.
As always, we are looking forward to rush into the fray side by side with you."

JUDAS PRIEST Guitarist Comments On GRAMMY AWARD
JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing has issued the following update:
"At last, after five nominations, I am happy to say the PRIEST has at last come home with a Grammy Award!
"I know that some of you may think that the awards are geared up mainly for the pop and country fraternity. But, really, it is a celebration of music excellence around the globe that inspires people in all corners of the world. And when it comes to metal, I think that as long as it gets the recognition and acceptance that it deserves, then I am happy. And I am especially happy for you the fans. I feel that it is your award too; you have been loyal campaigners staying loyal to the music that we all love whilst giving your support to so many bands throughout the decades. None least other than JUDAS PRIEST. For this I thank you and wish for us all be winners time and time again for the good of heavy metal.
"Meanwhile, we are continuing to put together the cool package I was speaking of and that is the 30th anniversary reissue of 'British Steel' and live DVD of the 2009 'British Steel Tour'. There will also be hopefully some bonus stuff too. I can't make any promises, but we are determined to make it as good as it can be.
"I guess many of you are already planning which of the festivals you are going to go this year. Again I think it's going to be a bumper year with tons of great bands to see. One thing is for sure: if PRIEST has a rare summer off this year, you will definitely see me at as many festivals as I can get too. So keep an eye out for me and as usual a good place to look would be in the beer tent!"

AC/DC Singer: \'It Makes Me Mad When People Try To Use Politics Or Charity For Publicity\'
According to The Pulse of Radio, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has lashed out at U2 frontman Bono and musician and Live Aid organizer Bob Geldof for their outspoken activism and public charity work. In an interview with Australia's Herald Sun, Johnson said that he donates to charity but prefers to stay quiet about it, explaining, "I don't tell everybody they should give money — they can't afford it. When I was a working man, I didn't want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa. I'm sorry, mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done."
AC/DC does not play charity events, even turning down a slot at Geldof's massive 1985 Live Aid global concert. Johnson said, "Bob Geldof is a canny lad. He did what he thought was right at the time but it didn't work. The money didn't go to poor people. It makes me mad when people try to use politics or charity for publicity. Do a charity gig, fair enough, but not on worldwide television."
AC/DC starts its first Australian tour since 2001 next week amid reports that Johnson has been thinking about retiring after a possible throat cancer scare late last year. Johnson said, "Of course I don't want to retire, but I'm telling you if the body or the voice packs in there's nothing I can do. Pride is what it is. You don't want to let yourself, the band or the fans down. I'll go on as long as I can."

HELSTAR Announces New Drummer
Texas metal veterans HELSTAR have parted ways with drummer Russell De Leon and replaced him with Mikey Lewis. The band states, "Some of you may remember Mikey from last summer's Headbangers Open Air festival [in Germany] or even the last four shows we played here in Texas back in September and December.
The group adds, "Mikey is not new to the HELSTAR family. We've all known him for many years, and in fact, he toured Europe with James's [Rivera, vocals] HELSTAR reunion shows in 2004.
"Mikey is a solid drummer with impeccable timing and sense for what a song needs! He grew up on HELSTAR and was also heavily influenced by the major thrash drummers of the '80s. He is a very welcome addition to the family and we can't wait for you all to hear him!"
HELSTAR's "Pain Will Be Thy Name" video can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's latest album, "The King of Hell", which received a North American release in January 2009 via Locomotive Records. The CD was issued in Europe in September 2008 on AFM Records. | 0

Doug Wimbish (bass) and (LIVING COLOUR drummer) Will Calhoun arrived here yesterday night. The lovely lady from the farm went to pick them up from Helsinki airport. As you might wonder correctly, Will is here to record drums for some of my songs. I am very happy to have him on board. He is going to give different colour for some songs with his drumming, for sure.
Mike (Terrana; drums) was recording three more songs and his work is almost done. Only one more song to go that demands some experimentation as I wish that Mike and Will would play together.
Mike is going to stay longer in Finland though, since he will shoot his own video with my friends from Same-Eyes. He kills two birds with one stone
Ok. I need to keep on working now. Will be a long, but interesting day.
With love, Tarja."

SLASH To Guest On ALTER BRIDGE Frontman\'s Solo Album
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has contributed a guitar solo to the forthcoming solo album from ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy. "As always, he knocked it out of the park!" Myles states. "They don't call him one of the best guitarists of all time for nothing."
Slash recently announced via his MySpace page that he has tapped Kennedy as the lead singer for his upcoming solo tour, which will take place this spring following the release of Slash's self-titled solo debut. Slash wrote, "Myles sang a killer track on the record and I think he is by far one of the best rock and roll singers out there today. I'm really honored and proud to be working with him. I will announce the other band members shortly."

THE RED CHORD Replaces Drummer
Boston, Massachusetts metallers THE RED CHORD will perform with original drummer Michael Justian at all upcoming shows. Justian has not publicly performed with the group since the Maryland Deathfest of 2004 and replaces recently departed drummer Brad Fickeisen.
Commented guitarist Mike McKenzie: "It's great to be jamming with Mike again. His approach to drumming is truly unique and amazing. Even though it has been about six years since he has played this stuff, his playing is stronger than ever. We've rehearsed almost every day for the last month and we can't wait to do this live again." | 0

MEMOIRA Issue New Album Update
Finnish metallers MEMOIRA have issued the following update:
"We have been rehearsing and writing and arranging material for the new album like hell! The truth is we are really excited and (new vocalist, pictured) Kati (Rantala) has been working alot with the old ones!
About the new album! There has been a lot of discussion about making a concept album and now finally it seems real! The details of the story of the album is being developed but the main idea is a story about a night at the theatre! During the play an actress gets murdered, the crowd gets to escape but the remaining actors realize they have been locked inside the theatre with the murderer! While they begin to solve who is the murderer they discover horrifying truths about the play itself and about the other actors..." | 0

MEGADETH Rejoined By Bassist DAVID ELLEFSON
MEGADETH founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to MEGADETH's upcoming historic month-long "Rust In Peace" 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, MEGADETH will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album "Rust In Peace" in its entirety, in addition to other MEGADETH favorites.
"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness," Mustaine says. "David Ellefson belongs in MEGADETH. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked...HARD!"
David Ellefson concurs: "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."
Ellefson will join Mustaine and MEGADETH band members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) on tour in support of the group's current CD, "Endgame", which has received some of the highest critical accolades of the band's career.
"We'd like to thank James Lomenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best," Mustaine adds.
