Listen To New AUGUST BURNS RED Song 'Bones'
AUGUST BURNS RED has been upholding the artistic pillars of technical proficiency, airtight grooves, and thoughtful lyricism in the hard rock world for 17 years now. The two-time Grammy Award-nominated Pennsylvania quintet — JB Brubaker (lead guitar), Brent Rambler (rhythm guitar), Matt Greiner (drums), Jake Luhrs (lead vocals) and Dustin Davidson (bass) — will release its eighth full-length album, "Guardians", on April 3 via Fearless Records.
AUGUST BURNS RED has just shared another new song "Bones". Check it out below.
"'Guardians' is the culmination of a complete and total team effort," says Brubaker. "Dustin and I collaborated musically more than we ever have before. Jake and Brent collaborated vocally more than they ever have before. Matt bounced more drum ideas off of us than we could even comprehend. It was the most time we've ever spent in the studio on one album. We're all so proud of this record, and we can't wait to share it with the world."
Earlier this month, AUGUST BURNS RED dropped the official music video for the disc's first single, "Defender". Rambler said about the track: "The song 'Defender' is about having that person who can come in and take some punches for you, and be in your corner during hard times. I am quite the comic book fan and I thought the lyrics could easily turn into an awesome animated short story — kind of like if the pages of a comic were to come to life. Luckily, everyone else agreed and we have this sick video to go along with the song."
AUGUST BURNS RED will embark on a tour with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and LIGHT THE TORCH this spring in support of "Guardians".

ARMORED SAINT Guitarist JEFF DUNCAN To Release New Solo Album 'Wanderlust' In April
ARMORED SAINT and ODIN guitarist Jeff Duncan will release the physical version of his debut solo LP, "Wanderlust", in April on EMP Label Group, the label founded by MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson. Released digitally in late 2019 by WARRANT's Erik Turner and Jerry Dixon on their Downboys label, the physical release will hit stores April 24 on CD, with a limited-edition vinyl release in July.
Produced by Jason Constantine and Jeff Duncan, and mixed by Jason Constantine, "Wanderlust" is 11 tracks of powerhouse progressive, instrumental hard rock, sure to delight fans of guitar shred albums. featuring a guest appearance by ARMORED SAINT bassist Joey Vera on the track "Mr. Allen".
Duncan formed legendary Los Angeles metal outfit ODIN as a teenager in the early '80s with his brother Shawn Duncan, vocalist Randy O and bassist Aaron Samson, before joining ARMORED SAINT in 1989, performing on the albums "Symbol Of Salvation", "Revelation", "Nod To The Old School", "La Raza", "Win Hands Down" and the 2017 live release "Carpe Noctem", as well as their forthcoming studio album, due out in 2020. Since the mid-'90s, Duncan also performs in hard rock act DC4 with brothers Shawn and Matt Duncan, and guitarist Rowan Robertson (ex-DIO).
Says Duncan: "I've always wanted to do a record like this and I'm so thrilled that it has become a reality. I've had a special relationship with the guitar most of my life, so making a record completely utilizing the guitar as a form of expression is a dream come true. I'm also very excited to release the physical with EMP as I've known Dave Ellefson for many years and Thom Hazaert has been enormously supportive. I hope everyone enjoys 'Wanderlust'."
Says EMP's Thom Hazaert: "Being a huge fan of both ODIN and ARMORED SAINT, I think Jeff Duncan is one of the greatest guitar players on the planet. And being able to forge a unique partnership with our friends Jerry and Erik from WARRANT, for them to release the album digitally, while releasing the physical versions on EMP, was very exciting.
"As a label, we're still very committed to the physical product, and partnering with artists and companies we believe in. And on 'Wanderlust', we got to do both."
Ellefson adds: "I have a long, great relationship with ARMORED SAINT, performing many times over the years with them, including last year on the Megacruise, and with John Bush, both in METAL ALLEGIANCE and on my solo material. So, when Jeff came to us with his solo release, obviously it was a no-brainer. He's an incredible guitar player, and made an incredible guitar record. And to partner with the WARRANT guys, who are dear friends for many years, was just an added bonus."

DEEP PURPLE will release its new album, "Whoosh!", on June 12 via earMUSIC. "Whoosh!" will be available as limited CD+DVD mediabook (including the one-hour feature "Roger Glover And Bob Ezrin In Conversation" and, for the first time, the full live performance at Hellfest 2017 as video), 2LP+DVD edition, limited boxset and digital.

DEF LEPPARD To Release 'London To Vegas' DVD And Blu-Ray In April
According to Amazon, DEF LEPPARD will release "London To Vegas" on April 24 in 2DVD/4CD and 2Blu-ray/4CD editions.
The official product description reads as follows: "Special deluxe edition featuring 2 unique shows! In 2018 Sheffield's finest made their long-awaited debut at London's O2 Arena. DEF LEPPARD performed the ground-breaking 'Hysteria' album in its entirety. In 2019, the newly minted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers returned to Las Vegas for their infamous Sin City residency, featuring stunning video walls, two stages and rarely performed album cuts, making for an unforgettable concert experience. Includes exclusive behind the scenes bonus features."
A short video teaser can be found below.
More information about "London To Vegas" will be made available on Thursday, February 27.
DEF LEPPARD's second Vegas residency concluded in September at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
"It was great," DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott told Meltdown of the WRIF radio station. "It was really fun. We did 12 shows over a three-week period. We never played the same set twice. We threw in some really obscure stuff that we haven't played for many years — things off 'High 'N' Dry' — we played some stuff that we haven't played for 25, 26 years, from 'Pyromania', and we played songs we've never played before live ever in front of an audience. We really did have fun changing it up every night. Great audiences. It was the biggest production we've ever done. And we got to sleep in the same bed for three weeks. [Laughs]"
Joe elaborated on the importance of changing up the setlist during the residency, telling WRIF: "You don't get old in three weeks, but you would if you were playing the same set night after night after night after night. And I think the fact that we changed up the set every night, it means that when we went in to soundcheck, we'd have to play these songs to make sure we were comfortable to play them that night. So it always gives it a bit of an edge, especially when you don't really make your mind up which songs you're gonna play until maybe a couple of hours before you go on. You're, like, 'Oh, what are we gonna do tonight?' There's core elements of the set that don't change, like the intro, the middle bit and maybe the ending, because there's certain songs that a band like us, you can't get out of the building alive unless you play 'em. But there is scope for in and around kind of the ride areas in the set, where you're going from sequence one to sequence two, if you like, where you can change things out, and that's what we did. And we had a lot of fun doing that."
At the opening concert of the residency on August 14, 2019, the band's 23-song set included two tracks which had never been performed before — "Let Me Be" from "X" and "We Belong" from "Def Leppard" — along with rarely played cuts "Die Hard The Hunter" (aired for the first time since 1992), "Slang" (first time since 2013), "Billy's Got A Gun" (first time since 2002), "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad" (first time since 2005) and "Now" (first time since 2003). There was also a mini-acoustic set in the middle, consisting of four tracks.
DEF LEPPARD played its first Las Vegas residency seven years ago at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, a pioneering effort for a rock band.

LAMB OF GOD Guitarist Discusses 'Checkmate' Single In First Album Trailer
The first trailer for LAMB OF GOD's new, self-titled album can be seen below. In the two-minute clip, guitarist Mark Morton discusses the LP's first single, "Checkmate", and how it came together.
"Lamb Of God" will be released on May 8 via Epic Records in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Records in Europe. The follow-up to "VII: Sturm Und Drang" marks LAMB OF GOD's first recordings with Art Cruz, who joined the band last July as the replacement for the group's founding drummer, Chris Adler.
"'Checkmate' brings together all the components of the LAMB OF GOD sound that we've been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band," said Morton. "Re-energized and reignited, this is LAMB OF GOD 2020. We've never been more excited."
The fact that the band's eighth studio effort would warrant "self-titled" status is a testament to the band's pride and satisfaction with these songs and this period in their creativity.
"Putting only our name on it is a statement," singer Randy Blythe said. "This is LAMB OF GOD. Here and now."
A true collaboration between all members of the band, LAMB OF GOD's eighth studio album is an amalgam of each individual's contributions, blended to create a singular style. Guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler fuel the album with a mountain of riffs, taking what LAMB OF GOD are known for, and unbelievably, upping the ante to new levels. The rhythm section of John Campbell, looming large as a rhythmic shadow, and drummer Art Cruz, who makes his studio debut with LAMB OF GOD here on this record, underpin the proceedings with passion, sweat and expansive dynamics. Vocalist D. Randall Blythe is as angry, insightful, and informed as ever. Never one to shrink from facing the darker aspects of our nature head-on, Blythe delivers with no punches pulled, and as only he and LAMB OF GOD can in 2020.
In the midst of writing the ten songs that appear on "Lamb Of God", the group hit pause on the works-in-progress to man the stage as main support SLAYER's "The Final Campaign". After months of playing their best-known songs nightly, LAMB OF GOD returned to the new tracks and began to work with longtime producer Josh Wilbur (KORN, MEGADETH, GOJIRA, TRIVIUM). Special guests Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) and Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT) also make appearances on "Lamb Of God".
"Lamb Of God" track listing:
01. Memento Mori
02. Checkmate
03. Gears
04. Reality Bath
05. New Colossal Hate
06. Resurrection Man
07. Poison Dream (feat. Jamey Jasta)
08. Routes (feat. Chuck Billy)
09. Bloodshot Eyes
10. On The Hook
LAMB OF GOD and MEGADETH's 55-date tour will be split into two legs, the first of which kicks off June 12 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, and wraps August 1 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California. The second run launches October 2 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida, and runs through November 13 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.
LAMB OF GOD is:
D. Randall Blythe - Vocals
Mark Morton - Guitar
Willie Adler - Guitar
John Campbell - Bass
Art Cruz - Drums

GLENN DANZIG's Collection Of ELVIS PRESLEY Covers Gets Official Release Date
Glenn Danzig's long-awaited collection of Elvis Presley covers, appropriately titled "Danzig Sings Elvis", is scheduled for an April 17 release. Tracks set to appear on the effort include "Is It So Strange", "Loving Arms" and "One Night".
Two live shows in support of "Danzig Sings Elvis" will be announced next week for Los Angeles and San Francisco. Set to take place in late April, these will be small, intimate seated performances as Glenn wants to try to capture an old Las Vegas night club atmosphere.
In 2018, Danzig spoke to Full Metal Jackie's nationally syndicated radio show about why it has taken him so long to complete "Danzig Sings Elvis". "Every time I'd have downtime, or if I was working on soundtrack stuff, I would just record another Elvis track or two," he said. "So what started out as an EP, I now have more than enough for a full album; I have extra songs that won't even make it on the record. So I'm really gonna have to sit down and pick the songs that I really want on the record. But it came out really good; I can't wait for everyone to hear it. A lot of people ask me about it all the time when I'm on the road. So it will be nice to get it out."
Danzig previously covered Presley's "Trouble" on his eponymous band's "Thrall-Demonsweatlive" EP in 1993. He also recorded a version of "Let Yourself Go" for 2015's "Skeletons".
"Elvis is actually kind of how I got into music," Glenn told Rolling Stone in 2015 interview. "When I was a kid, I was cutting school pretending I was sick and I would lie at home watching old movies, and 'Jailhouse Rock' came on with Elvis. I was, like, 'I want to do this. This is great.' And that's how I veered to music."
Regarding how he came to cover "Let Yourself Go", Danzig said: "It's a song that a lot of people may or may not be familiar with, but he actually liked it so much he put it on the ''68 Comeback Special'. It's just a cool song I've always liked. I knew I could do something really cool with it. I didn't want to do the obvious Elvis song, you know? You don't have to highlight an Elvis song, everyone's heard them, this is just probably a lesser known song of his thousands of songs that everybody knows. I like his delivery, his voice. He's not just standing there, he's moving around. I like that. I don't like singers who just stand there. It's boring to me. I like singers who are really getting into it and showing you they're getting into it. I think he has all of that."
DANZIG was formed in 1987 after Glenn's involvement with horror-punks the MISFITS and gothic hard rockers SAMHAIN.
DANZIG's latest album, "Black Laden Crown", came out in May 2017 via Evilive Records/Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Udo is scheduled to play two shows at this year's Wacken Open Air festival in August: the first will see his band DIRKSCHNEIDER perform ACCEPT's classic 1985 album "Metal Heart" in its entirety to celebrate the LP's 35th anniversary, while the second will pair Udo's main band U.D.O. with Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr, the military band of the German federal armed forces. U.D.O. and the 100-plus musicians of Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr previously teamed up for the 2015 edition of Wacken and then for another concert in Elspe in 2018.
In 2018, Udo told Greece's Rock Overdose that he would no longer perform any ACCEPT songs live once he has completed his current touring obligations with his DIRKSCHNEIDER project. "I did now the DIRKSCHNEIDER thing for nearly three hundred shows — I played only ACCEPT songs," he said. "If [the fans] wanna hear some ACCEPT classic stuff, what can I say? Then please go to [see] ACCEPT; they're still touring.
"I would say as long as ACCEPT is existing, I don't play any ACCEPT songs anymore," he explained. "If they maybe split up and I'm still continuing to tour, then it's a possibility to play some ACCEPT songs. But at the moment, they're still going on tour and they play also a lot of old ACCEPT classic stuff, so here we go. I mean, I have now 16 U.D.O. albums out and I think we have enough songs to do a setlist without ACCEPT songs."

RIOT V Singer TODD MICHAEL HALL Blows Away 'The Voice' Coaches With FOREIGNER's 'Juke Box Hero' (Video)
RIOT V singer Todd Michael Hall impresed the coaches on NBC's "The Voice" this week with his performance of the classic FOREIGNER song "Juke Box Hero".
The 50-year-old, who lives in Saginaw, Michigan, took the stage during blind auditions this week and surprised the coaches with his range.
Coach Kelly Clarkson, first season winner of "American Idol", called Hall "incredible," saying, "My mind was blown the entire time. We usually tell people, 'You've gotta give us your all, 'cause we're turned around.' You did it."
Fellow coach Blake Shelton also praised Hall's performance, saying Todd's voice reminded him of "the hair bands" of the 1980s. He added that Todd has "a direct path to the finale."
"I was thinking you had reached the peak of your range and then you would just push it one step further," said coach Nick Jonas.
"Not only were you hitting those high notes out of the stratosphere, but I thought your low tone was beautiful as well," said John Legend. "It was magical. So impressive."
Hall is best known as the lead singer of RIOT V, which features members of legendary metal pioneers RIOT. Hall has also sung in many other metal bands, including REVERENCE, ENTICE, JACK STARR'S BURNING STARR and HARLET.
Hall, who is the owner of a climbing gym and the father of three kids, signed on with Shelton as his coach at the end of the round.
RIOT V's latest album, "Armor Of Light", came out in April 2018 via Nuclear Blast.

AC/DC's New Album Will Contain Mind-Blowing MALCOLM YOUNG 'Surprises'
Dee Snider says that AC/DC's upcoming album will feature "some surprises" related to late rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young that will blow the minds of the band's diehard fans.
The TWISTED SISTER singer discussed AC/DC's plans for the new disc during an appearance last Thursday (February 20) on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" show to promote a Change.org petition to get the legendary Australian hard rock act to perform at next year's Super Bowl.
Snider said: "I had dinner with [AC/DC singer] Brian [Johnson] recently, and we talked about [the band's return to activity]. He told me a lot of stuff, and a lot of stuff that I don't wanna say. But we know from the photos, and Brian confirmed it, they've been in the studio, they've been recording. The original — I don't say the 'original' guys, because a lot of 'em are gone, but I say the 'classic' lineup is back together and there are some surprises, which I can't talk about, regarding Malcolm Young that just had my jaw on the floor. I will say he will be present. So this is AC/DC as we know and love them."
Last December, Snider confirmed that Johnson was doing "good," four years after the the AC/DC frontman was forced to leave the band mid-tour due to a dangerous level of hearing loss. He was eventually replaced on the road by GUNS N' ROSES vocalist Axl Rose.
Snider was responding to Twitter questions regarding his earlier comment that the surviving members of AC/DC were working on a new studio album which will reportedly be dedicated to Malcolm Young.
Snider's latest comments seem to corroborate a September 2018 report from JAM! magazine, which cited a "reliable source inside the AC/DC camp" as indicating that the band was recording a new LP which will utilize previously unreleased guitar tracks from Malcolm Young on all the songs.
The magazine's web site reported at the time: 'Five years prior to the (2008) 'Black Ice' LP, AC/DC's 15th studio release, Angus and Malcolm Young . . . literally wrote hundreds of songs, many were recorded and have been stashed away until now. Angus has decided to selected [sic] the best tracks from those recordings that Malcolm played on and is now back in the studio recording and mixing them with fellow bandmates Phil Rudd [drums], Cliff Williams [bass] and, yes, Brian Johnson on vocals."
A year and a half ago, Johnson and Rudd, along with guitarists Angus Young and Stevie Young, were photographed outside Vancouver's Warehouse Studios. Based on the pictures, the assumption was that AC/DC was in the midst of making — or at least planning — another album, with Rudd and Johnson both back in the lineup.
Ever since AC/DC completed the tour cycle for its 2014 album "Rock Or Bust" three and a half years ago — a turbulent trek that weathered the forced retirement and eventual death of co-founder Malcolm Young, plus the departures of Johnson, Rudd and Williams — fans have wondered whether sole remaining founding member Angus Young would keep the band going or decide it was time for AC/DC to pack it in.
In February 2019, a photo surfaced on social media suggesting that Williams has also returned to AC/DC and will appear on the rumored comeback album which is expected to be released in the coming months.

AYREON Release "Twisted Coil" Performance Video From Upcoming Into The Electric Castle Live And Other Tales
If the bedrock of progressive rock is to throw caution to the wind and to indulge your wildest musical flights of fancy, then Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a modern-day titan of the genre.
On April 10, Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group release Ayreon - Electric Castle Live And Other Tales, a 3 LP/2CD+DVD/BD set of last year’s spectacular live performance of the third Ayreon album ‘nto The Electric Castle. Over four nights at Tilburg’s 013 venue (the scene of Lucassen’s Ayreon Universe series of live shows in 2017) Lucassen, his band and one of modern progressive music’s most emphatic of casts celebrated the 20th anniversary of ‘Into the Electric Castle’ in front of 12,000 adoring fans from 64 different countries who had flown in from around the world.
“Because it was the 20th anniversary of the album, and we’d just remixed and re-released it, we figured it was the perfect moment to perform this live”, says Lucassen. “The Ayreon Universe shows were such a fantastic experience for everyone involved, and I’d had loads of requests for more live shows, so we decided to perform the entire ‘Electric Castle’ album back at the 013, and also play one track from each of my side projects billed as ‘Other Tales’.”
Released in 1998, Into The Electric Castle is your classic tale of an epic quest. Set in “no time and no space”, it tells the story of eight individuals who are guided by a mysterious voice and tasked with finding the mysterious Electric Castle. The original album features amongst others Fish (the Highlander), Lucassen (the Hippie), Edwin Balogh (The Roman), Anneke van Giersbergen (the Egyptian), Damian Wilson (the Knight) and Edward Reekers (the Futureman), all of whom repeated their performances for the live spectacular.
Also, among the 22 musicians and singers who made up the impressive cast list were long-time Lucassen collaborators Thijs Van Leer (Focus), Simone Simons (Epica), John Jaycee Cuijpers (Praying Mantis), Marcela Bovio and musicians Joost van den Broek, Johan van Stratum, Marcel Singor, Ferry Duijsens, Bob Wijtsma and Ben Mathot. Star Trek actor John De Lancie (Q) appears as the narrator.
Having made a name for himself in the 1980s with Dutch hard rock bands Bodine and Vengeance, and with his first solo album in 1993, it is with Ayreon that Lucassen has truly made a name for himself as a composer of unbridled imagination and creativity.
Having set out his stall with the first two Ayreon albums The Final Experiment (1995) and Actual Fantasy (1996), as a creator of vivid musical works built around some of the finest talent in the prog and rock worlds, everything seemed to align perfectly with 1998’s Into The Electric Castle.
“I poured my heart and soul into it”, says Lucassen of the original album. “Investing everything I had both financially and creatively, and enlisted the best instrumentalists and singers I could find in the world at that time. When making the album I was unconstrained by any musical or stylistic boundaries and incorporated many of my favourite musical styles. ‘Into The Electric Castle’ received an overwhelmingly positive reception from both the press and the fans. This firmly established the Ayreon name, making Ayreon the perfect project to pour all of my time and creative energy into.”
Although best known as a studio-based musician, Lucassen slowly countered his fear of performing live when he first joined long-time collaborator Anneke van Giersbergen for some live dates in 2015, before tackling the more elaborate theatre staging of his 2004 Ayreon album The Human Equation in Rotterdam over four nights the same year (on which he served as special advisor). He went even further in 2017 when he appeared on stage with his star-studded ‘Ayreon Universe’ shows at Tilburg’s 013.
“I get absolutely crippling stage fright”, he says. “Up to the night before the Tilburg shows, I was having dreadful panic attacks. But it’s all for a good cause!”
Creating a live show for Into The Electric Castle seemed like the logical next step, and the four 2019 shows were a resounding success, captured for posterity in Ayreon - Electric Castle Live And Other Stories. In fact, it all went so well, that Lucassen is taking the show to headline the prestigious German progressive rock festival Night Of The Prog in June of this year.
“I just love recording my various projects in the studio,” he concurs, “but I’m not a live performer. I’m the guy who comes up with the ideas, sees the big picture, and puts it all together. So, I’m glad that so many incredible musicians helped me bring my music to the stage.”

DEEP PURPLE To Release New Album, 'Whoosh!', In June
According to various online retailers, the new DEEP PURPLE album will be titled "Whoosh!" and will be released on June 12 via earMUSIC. The legendary rockers' 21st studio LP was once again helmed by Canadian producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, ALICE COOPER), who also worked on DEEP PURPLE's last two studio albums, 2017's "Infinite" and 2013's "Now What?!"
DEEP PURPLE will promote "Whoosh!"'s release by embarking on a five-date U.K. tour in October with special guests BLUE ÖYSTER CULT.
Last fall, DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover told the Chicago Sun-Times that he and his bandmates planned to keep recording new music.
"We've been working a bit," he revealed. "There's a few things around, we don't know yet what's, where, or when, but we've not stopped yet.
"There's a danger, of course, if you've become successful, that people want you to do the same thing and be successful all over again and keep going, but it doesn't work that way," he added. "You can't just simply repeat yourself."
Having released six albums since 1996, Glover said everyone in PURPLE has been committed to keeping things fresh.
"I think that there was almost an unspoken desire to move forward, to not repeat ourselves," he explained. "Of course, the players are the same, so the sounds can be the same in all the style or something like that. But as far as writing songs are concerned, I think most bands don't get the songs right. They talk about performance and hooks and stuff like that, but to me writing a song is much more than that. And we've always tried to write different songs. The danger is, of course, you become a parody of yourself if you try and copy yourself. And so, we've always tried to move on and change. It's a challenge."
DEEP PURPLE — which had been eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for two decades — finally entered the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2016. The band's first three lineups were inducted, including drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, late keyboardist Jon Lord, and various singers and bassists — Rod Evans; Ian Gillan and Glover; and David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE Premier Cinematic Music Video For "Monnalisa"
Italian orchestral-death metal giants, Fleshgod Apocalypse, have release a cinematic masterpiece with their music video for "Monnalisa", a track from the band's Veleno album. Watch below.
Francesco Paoli says: “'Monnalisa' is truly experimental but, at the same time, one of the best songs we've ever written. It stood up amongst the other Veleno tracks right from its release, becoming an instant classic for our fans. I believe what makes this one so special for everyone is that the idea of "poisoning", which is at the very center of our album Veleno, is connected to love. Even the most noble of feelings can become toxic if we suddenly lose our identity, letting our mind and soul become enslaved to someone else. In the end, we can truly love someone only if we find a way to love ourselves first. This is one of the most meaningful messages hidden inside our album. That's why we felt the need to emphasize it even more through this video.
"When I came up with the concept behind the video, we all agreed that only someone like Giovanni Bucci (Korn, Oddko), who directed our previous video 'Sugar', could have handled it the way we desired. The final result is a cinematic video that looks as good as a high-end fashion film, with incredible production values and unconventional imagery, mostly inspired by the historical heritage of Italian fashion and architecture, while still maintaining some horror aspects.
"Giovanni and I have known each other for a very long time and I collaborated with his band Oddko. I'm a huge fan of all his work as a full rounded artist. He and all the creative minds of the Void ‘N Disorder team, like the extraordinarily talented Art Director Paola Rocchetti, and top-level colorist Gabe Sanchez (Post Malone, Usher, Camila Cabello) transformed a bunch of cool ideas into a mind-blowing piece of art.”
Giovanni Bucci adds: “My goal with this music video was to prove that you can make something elegant and classy and still be metal as fuck. I wanted to get away from the gritty stereotypes of metal videos and since we are all Italians, I thought that it would be interesting to juxtapose Death Metal imagery with elements from classical Italian culture, with its sophistication, elegance, and style. Moreover, it's always a pleasure to work with these guys and Francesco, who plays the drums on Oddko’s upcoming album and is also featured in the next, soon to be released, music videos.”
Fleshgod Apocalypse will descend upon North America in March in support of Veleno. For the first time in the band’s celebrated career they’ll be doing a full tour accompanied by a classical string quartet, which will be an unprecedented experience for death metal fans.
The band recently issued a message for fans that can be viewed below:
Fleshgod Apocalypse will be joined by special guests The Agonist on the excursion, that begins in Dallas, TX on March 16 and culminates in Los Angeles on April 6. Tickets here.
"Once again, we’re sharing the stage with a wonderful string ensemble and, this time, in some of the best live music clubs across North America. About a year ago, we had the pleasure to perform a special show in our hometown with a classical string quintet. We filmed the entire event and, a few months later, it became our first ever official live Blu-Ray, An Evening In Perugia. Right after that, we’ve been literally flooded with requests from all over the world to make it happen abroad. Everyone in our team, including band, management and label, could only work at making it happen as soon as possible.
"So here we are, bringing the full experience across North America in March/April 2019. For the first time in the history of Death Metal, a band is touring with a full string ensemble. Every night will be a night to remember, featuring the longest set we’ve ever played in the continent. No excuses to miss it then, every single detail is going to be perfect and, above all, it might be a once-in-a-lifetime event… Don’t hesitate and get your ticket before it’s too late! Let’s write a new page of Death Metal history together!" - Francesco Paoli

BARISHI Premiere Music Video “Entombed In Gold Forever”
Progressive metal outfit Barishi have premiered the official music video for their new song, "Entombed In Gold Forever." The animated video, which entangles themes of Ancient Egypt with the fable of King Midas, was created by Joey Carlino, and can be seen below.
"Entombed In Gold Forever" is the second single from Barishi's forthcoming album, Old Smoke, which is due on April 24 via Season of Mist. Preorder Old Smoke here.
Speaking of the creation of both the song and video, Barishi comments:
"We saw some of Joey Carlino’s animation on Instagram and thought it would be cool to have him do a video for ‘Entombed In Gold Forever.’ The final product absolutely blew us away and I think captured the vibe of the song perfectly. The song itself was kicking around in various forms for a couple of years, but we were never really happy with its structure. We had all the other songs for the record finished, but that one had some glaring issues. I had to go out to the West Coast for work last year and spent all my free time tinkering with the structure. When the song eventually came together, it felt like the final puzzle piece of the record was found. Hope you enjoy.”

IGORRR Launches New Video “Parpaing” Featuring CANNIBAL CORPSE’s GEORGE “CORPSEGRINDER” FISHER
On March 27, Igorrr will release their new album, Spirituality And Distortion, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the new single, "Parpaing", is streaming below.
Igorrr's Gautier Serre comments: "We are so honored to welcome the final boss of death metal: George Fisher, to sing on one of the most brutal Igorrr tracks we have ever made.
"I've been a huge fan of George since the legendary albums Gallery Of Suicide and Bloodthirst from Cannibal Corpse which had a pretty serious influence on my music.
"His participation makes a complete sense to me and to this track: who's got a better voice than George Fisher's voice and could fit better on chiptune 8-bit music? Heaviness versus its opposite, I found on this track the perfect match, the perfect balance."

With 2017's Savage Sinusoid, Igorrr more than proved to be a truly unique musical force - and 2020's Spirituality And Distortion cements that well-earned reputation. Slamming together disparate musical styles ranging from death and black metal to breakcore, Balkan, baroque and classical music in a manner that is as unconventional and unpredictable as it is thrilling, Igorrr are unlike any other act, and Spirituality And Distortion displays just as broad a range of emotions as sounds. "Getting stuck in only one emotion is very boring to me; life is a wide range of emotions - sometimes you're happy, sometimes you're sad, angry, pissed off, nostalgic or blown away," states mastermind Gautier Serre. "Life is not only one color. These 14 tracks are a journey through different states of mind I've been through."
At no stage was there any plan, embracing the freedom offered in the wake of achieving Savage Sinusoid and going wherever ideas took him, embracing a small army of specialist musicians to help him attain his vision. Importantly, like its predecessor, this is not a predominantly electronic record. "The organization part has been more complicated as we had to fly traditional instrumentalists to our studio, so, lots of planes, trains and cars were involved to make it happen, but all the acoustic instruments have been recorded traditionally, with no help of the computer." These included violinist Timba Harris, bassist Mike Leon, pianist Matt Lebofsky, Oud player Mehdi Haddab, accordion player Pierre Mussi, Kanoun player Fotini Kokkala and harpsichordist Benjamin Bardiaux, among others. Vocally, the most prominent performer is Laure Le Prunenec, whose operatic strains are a longtime part of the Igorrr mix, while regular collaborator Laurent Lunoir also appears on a few tracks. Serre also invited Pierre Lacasa and Jasmine Barra back to the studio (known from their appearance on previous tracks like "Vegetable Soup" and "Cheval") to appear on "Kung-Fu Chèvre" and got to realize a dream with one guest performer.
"We had the honor to welcome my personal favorite musical hero on this album: George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher of Cannibal Corpse. He screams on the track 'Parpaing', and his legendary voice brings the heaviness this track deserved. George is like the final boss of death metal. Like on a video game you have the final boss who is the strongest, George is the best in death metal singing. Due to the extreme heaviness and violence of his voice, I found it very much coherent to contrast it with a cheap tune of 8bit music which is the least heavy music on earth. The contrast is beautiful to my ears." However, lyrics are less important when he is creating, and often these are delivered in languages he does not even speak. "As with the previous albums, I'm entirely focused on the sound itself and how the sonorities of the voice speaks to the heart, not the intellectual meaning of the words."

FIGHT THE FIGHT To Release Deliverance Album In September; "Triggerfinger" Single, Music Video Out Now
Norwegian high-octane metallers, Fight The Fight, have released their new single and music video, "Triggerfiner", via Blacklight Media Records/Indie Recordings. Listen to the single here, watch the music video below.
It's fast, it's wild, it's energetic. Bouncy guitar riffing opens up what Fight The Fight call their "Triggerfinger". Musically the song lies in between a metalcore influenced version of Devin Townsend Project and crazy mathcore similar to the calm side of The Dillinger Escape Plan. Still, Fight The Fight maintain their unique style of modern, progressive and core-influenced metal. One of the catchiest choruses you'll hear today follows uncommon rhythmical drum patterns, and makes "Triggerfinger" a true fun song to listen to. Bouncing heads incoming!
The band states: "The song is about being at war with yourself, the mind and the alter ego. Everything gets out of control or maybe it all falls in part? It's up to you how you see it."
"Triggerfinger" is the first single off their upcoming sophomore album, Deliverance, to be released on September 18.
In Christianity, deliverance ministry refers to the activity of cleansing a person of demons and evil spirits in order to address problems manifesting in their life as a result of the presence of said entities and the root causes of their authority to oppress the person.
The band states: "You can say that in many ways writing this album has been a path to set free our individual alter egos. These are all coming out in the lyrics during the album. It is not about cleansing but realizing. Always be true to yourself and everyone around you. Sometimes you have to let that beast out and here it is, a beast of an album!"

VINTERSEA Release "Befallen" Music Video
Portland, Oregon-based Vintersea - whose crushing progressive metal draws heavy inspiration from the darkened skies of their native Pacific Northwest - has unveiled a new music video, “Befallen”, the latest in a series of dazzling clips that pair the group's blackened, dramatic mini-epics with stunning visuals.
The “Befallen” video - which the band premiered before a live audience at Portland's Hawthorne Theatre on Sunday night - was directed by bassist Karl Whinnery and filmed at the abandoned Satsop Nuclear Power Plant in Elma, Washington, a small town located 90 miles southwest of Seattle.
"I wanted the video to represent the bleakness and capture the aggressiveness of 'Befallen' appropriately,” Whinnery says. “When we started discussing concepts, I knew I had the proper location in mind and everyone jumped on board. Barely above freezing and filming six stories off the ground in some spots, it was an epic shoot. We had to shoot with fish-eye lenses to fully capture the gigantic scope of the cooling tower and reactor rooms."
Adds guitarist Riley Nix, “'Befallen' occupies a particularly dark place in the album's timeline, and it's meant to evoke immense dread and opaque darkness through blistering riffs, punishing blast-beats and relentless vocal lines. However, even in its darkest and most desperate moments, a sliver of hope shines through the song with ethereal vocals and epic chords. As many of our long-time friends and fans know, resolve in the face of overwhelming darkness is a huge theme throughout our music, and we hope the song and video showcase that."
“Befallen” is the third video from Vintersea's sophomore release (and M-Theory Audio debut), Illuminated, which was released in September on CD, digital and limited-edition blue/white vinyl. The album was engineered and mixed by Gabe Johnston (Idle Hands) and mastered by Troy Glessner (Devin Townsend, Intervals). Head here for additional streaming and webshop links.

THOR Banishes His Enemies To A "Wormhole" On The New Single; Lyric Video
From the moment the monster riff, stomping groove, and thick wah-pedal solo kicks in at the top of “Wormhole”, you know the heavy metal god of thunder is not here to play around. The song, the second single from Thor’s upcoming Rising album, rock’s hard with the spirit of musical giants of yore such as Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne and Alice Cooper, laying waste to metal poseurs everywhere. “Throw them all in a wormhole,” screams Thor mercilessly, his voice dripping with ruthless severity and disgust.
Thor offers this rumination, “For ‘Wormhole,’ I channeled some Sabbath, Ozzy and Alice. The song is also influenced by my interest in science fiction and outer space but it also pertains to the everyday stress of life. When things become overwhelming, one may want to place their problems in a black hole. In space anything that enters a black hole is lost, gone for good, but with a wormhole it comes back at ya, just faster! So it becomes a vicious cycle.”
The new Thor studio album, Rising, is out this Friday, February 28, via Cleopatra Records. Pre-order the album here.
Rising features Thor’s classic ’80s metal sound combined with modern influences to create a potent blend of old and new that has kept this metal viking thriving for over four decades. Available on both CD and on limited edition gold vinyl.

BLACK SABBATH Keyboardist ADAM WAKEMAN To Release 'Long-Lost' Debut Album From JAZZ SABBATH
On April 10, JAZZ SABBATH's self-titled debut album will be released on vinyl, CD, cassette and all download and streaming platforms. The band's story will surprise many, as the seven songs featured on this album, supposedly recorded in 1969, have not been heard by anyone for 50 years, but they are known by millions.
Ahead of the album, a JAZZ SABBATH documentary has been released online. In this documentary bandleader Milton Keanes — better known as Adam Wakeman, longtime keyboard and guitar player for BLACK SABBATH and Ozzy Osbourne — is interviewed by renowned actor Robert Powell, discussing the rise and fall of the jazz trio and the "blatant theft" of their songs. Robert also interviews a list of people — including members of BLACK SABBATH, OZZY OSBOURNE, MOTÖRHEAD, FAITH NO MORE, YES, RAMONES — recalling their memories about seeing the band or hearing the bootleg tapes 40-50 years ago.
A statement released by the band's label reads: "Formed in 1968, JAZZ SABBATH were considered by many to be at the forefront of the new jazz movement coming out of England at the time. The eagerly awaited debut album, scheduled for release on Friday 13th February 1970, was destined never to be released. Until now.
"The album was cancelled when news broke that founding member and pianist Milton Keanes was hospitalised with a massive heart attack which left him fighting for his life. The record company took the decision to shelve the album and cancel the scheduled release out of compassion and the financial uncertainty of releasing a debut album from a band without its musical leader.
"When Milton was finally released from hospital in September 1970, he found out that a band from Birmingham, conveniently called 'BLACK SABBATH', had since released two albums containing metal versions of what he claims were his songs.
"Milton tried to contact his record label, Rusty Bedsprings Records, only to find out it didn’t exist anymore and the label owner was in jail. All recalled JAZZ SABBATH albums had been destroyed when the warehouse burned down in June 1970; which turned out to be a case of insurance fraud by the label owner, leaving only a few bootleg tapes of JAZZ SABBATH's live performances between 1968 and 1969 as proof of existence.
"The album masters were said to be lost in the fire, but were actually misplaced and gathered dust in the basement vaults of the recording studio for many years, destined never to see the light of day.
"In late 2019, nearly 50 years later, the man who bought the building where the recording studio had been located (in order to turn it into a vegan pet shop) found the master recording tapes, which contained the original masters from the 1969 recording sessions and the slides containing the original album cover.
"These tapes have now been remixed and will finally be heard. The album will prove that the heavy metal band worshipped by millions around the world are in fact nothing more than musical charlatans, thieving the music from a bedridden, hospitalised genius."

SLIPKNOT's MICK THOMSON Loves To Expose Death Metal Bands To Wider Audiences
SLIPKNOT guitarist Mick Thomson was interviewed by Andertons Music Co. prior to the band's January 25 concert at the O2 Arena in London, England. You can now watch the chat below.
Speaking about the differences between doing a tour like SLIPKNOT's current European run and to the first couple of tours the band did two decades ago, Thomson said: "The first couple of tours, you're struggling for anything — food, sleep. It's just really rough when you're starting out, especially with a lot of people. You only get so much money, and it has to find its way to taking care of bills. You don't eat well, and you don't have your own hotel room. You're sharing a shower that's all pubed up and stuff. Life is a lot cushier — there's not the struggle. But the struggle is not forgotten. We still do what we do with passion. So, it's still there — it's just not as uncomfortable the rest of the day."
Asked how soon it was after SLIPKNOT started that the band was playing to audience sizes like the one at the O2, Thomson replied: "Festivals. Our first thing we ever did was Ozzfest in '99. We were the second stage; we rotated, so we didn't play in the same spot every day. I don't know what the biggest crowd there would have been. But I know that, overall, the amount of people in there was pretty huge. I don't know if that was [BLACK] SABBATH's original final tour. But having SABBATH there was fucking huge.
"Festivals are great, though, because it's not for you — it's for everybody," he explained. "So when you're pulling up with your own show, then that's when it really starts to feel, like, 'Holy shit! Look what we've done.' Because there's two bands playing tonight [before SLIPKNOT], and not 43 on three stages."
Mick also talked about the motivation for SLIPKNOT to start its own festival. Launched in 2012, Knotfest has been held across the globe, playing in the states, as well as Mexico, Japan and Colombia. Artists like DEFTONES, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, PAPA ROACH and BRING ME THE HORIZON have played Knotfest in the past.
"I think it's great for the fans and it's great for bands," Mick said. "We can put a lot of different bands that we would love to have on tour with us on something like that where normally we couldn't just take out whoever. A lot of times, trying to get recognition for some great bands that have just never got that much publicly. So I'm always really happy when we get some more underground stuff and death metal stuff that we can get on there that I would love to expose a wider audience to. I know from teaching guitar, I've turned a lot of kids on to death metal shit they've never heard of. I'll play some stuff for 'em, or they'll take a tape home, or something, and they're, like, 'Holy shit! This is brutal.' I'm, like, 'Of course it is.' I love to try to do anything I can to get exposure for bands we love. So that helps. We get to put some cool bands on."
Earlier this month, SLIPKNOT announced the 2020 edition of the "Knotfest Roadshow" tour, produced by Live Nation. Joining them on the trek will be special guests A DAY TO REMEMBER, UNDEROATH and CODE ORANGE.
Last year's "Knotfest Roadshow" saw SLIPKNOT play to the biggest U.S. crowds in their history, hitting 30 cities across North America throughout the summer. This year, "Knotfest Roadshow" 2020 begins in Syracuse, New York on May 30 and hits a further 15 cities before culminating at The Woodlands, Texas on June 25.
SLIPKNOT is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind", which came out last August.

BOBBY GUSTAFSON: '99 Percent Of First Four OVERKILL Albums Is My Riffs And My Sound And My Songs'
Former OVERKILL guitarist Bobby Gustafson says that the band hasn't been the same since his departure from the group three decades ago.
Gustafson joined OVERKILL in 1982 and played on the band first four albums — "Feel The Fire" (1985), "Taking Over" (1987), "Under The Influence" (1988) and "The Years Of Decay" (1989) — before being shown the door in 1990 amid growing tension between him and OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni.
In a recent interview with J-Rocks Metal Zone 's "That Metal Interview", Gustafson stated about his contributions to OVERKILL: "Basically, the band was a cover band before I joined. They were out a couple of years before me, but they were playing the circuit doing covers. And actually, when I first joined, that's what I was learning — was covers. And I hate it. I just don't like to do cover-band stuff. I'm, like, 'Why would I practice every day of my life to play somebody else's songs?' And I was basically the youngest guy in the band. I think I was 17, and those guys are, like, six years older than me. So, I told them, 'Look, I can write songs. I don't wanna play other people's music. Why don't we become an original band?' We actually had two guitar players, on and off, for a month or two, but no one would stay, for some reason, until I just said, 'Look, let's just keep one. I can handle it.' And we did. So, then we started to write.
"Basically, 99 percent of those first four albums is my riffs and my sound and my songs," he continued. "It's my feel. I was the only guitar player, so there was no one else putting in any other influence, and, basically, the job was left up to me, so that's what I did.
"Once your main songwriter is gone, which is one of the things I presented to Blitz [OVERKILL singer Bobby Ellsworth] when all that crap was going down… I'm, like, 'If you feel strong enough that you wanna lose your main songwriter after four albums, you're not gonna be the same.' But he and D.D. were closer friends before — they kind of started the band together — so it just took a different route.
"I didn't really listen to much of the stuff they did after me — once in a while, if it was on YouTube or it came up on television, on satellite radio, that I listen to — but that's all I hear from people, that the band was not the same and the band they fell in love with completely changed and they kind of lose interest," he added.
"They can have other guitar players come in, but they don't have my mind and they don't have my thought patterns of how a song should be put together. They can play the parts, but they can't duplicate, really, what I did, because everyone is just an individual, and once that's kind of gone, it's gone."
Asked what happened to cause his exit from OVERKILL, Gustafson said: "It's a whole bunch of stuff — it's a little bit of a lot of things — but, basically, the final fight was… There was a show at L'Amours that D.D. wanted to do for Christmas money, and I just didn't see that as being a good idea after we had just sold out Studio 54 in Manhattan, and we were getting ready to do what would have been the fifth album. I didn't feel right about doing a show where our last impression was gonna be half OVERKILL, half covers, half being drunk and having a good time and charging people a regular OVERKILL price to get in. But you're not seeing an OVERKILL show. I said, 'I'm not gonna do this.' I said, 'I don't want any part of that.' And then one thing led to another. And then I didn't hear from him. But then I'm hearing other stuff that they were kind of plotting behind my back because we had some money coming in from a merchandise advance. So it was just a lot of little things that kind of all built up. And I was just getting kind of sick of them not really having much integrity anymore and just using the band for nothing but a profit. They just became greedy. And I'm, like, 'I didn't bust my ass getting us bigger and bigger and bigger and having better songs with each album just so you can have Christmas money.' It's, like, 'Get a fucking job. Don't use my band to do something like that.' I just didn't agree with them on many levels after that. And maybe if we were making money, it would have been a different scenario, but four albums in, we still really weren't making much money, but then when finally we were gonna make some, which would have been the merchandise advance, they kind of found a way to cut me out of it. And the two of them [D.D. and Blitz] have pretty much owned the band ever since. And that's what they wanted. So they got it."
Ellsworth told Invisible Oranges that OVERKILL's decision to replace Gustafson with two guitarists was primarily due to the fact that the group wanted to do something different. "Bobby left the band, and it wasn't the most amicable circumstances," he explained. "There are different stories about what happened, but I wanted to play with D.D. We started the band and I trusted his ethic and songwriting. We knew if we replaced Bobby with one guitarist, we'd get compared to what we were. So, it seemed like to logical thing to bring in two players. We didn't want anyone to say, 'Bobby was better than this new guy.' And we wanted to perform old stuff with two guitars to keep in fresh. We realized that change isn't a bad thing."
OVERKILL's current lineup includes Verni and Ellsworth alongside guitarists Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer, plus the band's latest addition, drummer Jason Bittner.
Gustafson is involved in a new band called SATANS TAINT, which released its latest album, "Destruction Ritual", last year.

Ex-NIGHTWISH Singer ANETTE OLZON Talks Balancing Full-Time Job As A Nurse With Her Various Musical Projects
"Let's Discuss With Lance Hall" recently conducted an interview with former NIGHTWISH frontwoman Anette Olzon. You can listen to the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On finding the time to partake in various Frontiers Music Srl-backed musical projects, including THE DARK ELEMENT and now ALLEN/OLZON, her new venture with SYMPHONY X singer Russell Allen.
Anette: "This [ALLEN/OLZON] was recorded last spring, one year ago. When I got the question to do this, I was actually recording THE DARK ELEMENT's second album. I was first saying 'Well, can we do it in the autumn? I'm quite busy.' But they were, like, 'No, no, no, you have to do it now!' I just entered the studio for one album, then straight into the studio. I do have a regular job, actually — I'm working as a nurse. It was like working full-time Monday through Friday, then entering the studio and recording. It was a bit busy and I was quite happy I got some vacation in the summertime. But, you know, it's fun still. I love to sing. It's great. I'm really happy that they asked me to do all this kind of stuff. That's fantastic."
On the writing process for "Worlds Apart", the debut album from ALLEN/OLZON:
Anette: "The whole album was done when I joined the project. It's only [producer/songwriter] Magnus Karlsson who has made all the lyrics and the music for this. The only thing Russell and I have contributed, of course, is our voices. I did harmonies in my own way and some screams here and there and all those things. That's my duty from my point."
On how she interacted with Allen and Karlsson during the making of "Worlds Apart":
Anette: "Actually, me and Magnus had met. We met after we started the recordings. We were at a show and I met him, then I met him a couple of times. He lives very close to me, actually. He lives half an hour from where I live in Sweden. But, yeah, I haven't met Russell. I've e-mailed him a little bit. We wanted to do a real video with both of us in it. We tried to get that together, but Russell had just finished some touring and he was a soccer dad. I think he has his kid on a team where he's a coach or something. He didn't want to leave his family and that's totally acceptable. We have e-mailed, but we have never met on Skype or seen each other.
On whether she heard Allen's vocals while she was tracking her parts:
Anette: "Actually, when I entered the studio, Russell had started recording, so I think I got three or four songs with his voice. Then the other voice, which was mine, was actually sung by Magnus. So it was two guys, then I had to form and make my own melody lines and put it up and stuff. Then, actually, one or two songs, I recorded before Russell, then he got me and Magnus. [Laughs] But, it was nice to hear the end result."
Since the end of her five-year stint with NIGHTWISH in 2012, Olzon released a solo album, 2014's "Shine", and formed THE DARK ELEMENT with former SONATA ARCTICA guitarist Jani Liimatainen. The group's self-titled debut album was released in 2017; a follow-up, "Songs The Night Sings", was released in November.
Over the past 14 years, Allen — best known as the frontman of long-running progressive metal group SYMPHONY X — has released four acclaimed collaborative albums with Norwegian singer Jørn Lande (MASTERPLAN, AVANTASIA, JORN). The first three ALLEN/LANDE releases were produced and written by Karlsson, with the fourth and most recent — 2014's "The Great Divide" — produced and written by ex-STRATOVARIUS guitarist Timo Tolkki.

SEPULTURA's DERRICK GREEN: 'There's A Lot Of People That Just Get So Trapped In The Past'
In a new interview with DJ Force X, SEPULTURA frontman Derrick Green was asked about the criticism that has been leveled at him and his bandmates about the perceived lack of stability in the group's lineup, particularly in the years following the departures of founding members Max and Igor Cavalera. He said (hear audio below): "It definitely has been a good, solid run so far, keeping the same drummer for the past three albums. It was almost like a curse before — we'd get to almost three with one person, and then it would be over. With Igor, there's definitely [more] albums.
"People forget very quickly — we heard a lot of the same things that people are saying before, when Max left the band and Igor was in the band, and he's an original member," Derrick continued. "So, we realized that a lot of people didn't really know what they were talking about; they were just kind of saying what other people are saying. And that's kind of the majority of the way people run in groups that don't wanna be singled out. They wanna be a part of a group, people saying the same thing. And for me, that's always been — I come from a hardcore punk rock scene, where I was, like, 'Fuck that.' I never wanted that. That was the reason I got into underground music — so you can have your own opinion and not be a part of this fucking gang of people [going], 'Yeah, you're right, man.' You don't wanna stand out and look different. I was, like, no, I always wanted to stand out [and] always [wanted to] look different. And that was something that continued with SEPULTURA.
"We were a band [that formed in] Brazil," Green added. "I've been in the band for over 20 years. I had to move to Brazil and I learned the language. There's a really beautiful history about the band, even before I was in the band, but it's still continuing onwards. And for people who wanna hear it, wanna see it, wanna investigate it for themselves and not pay so much attention to what's happening online or what their other friend is saying, or what this old-school friend is saying, they start just becoming old. It's not old-school — those people just end up becoming really old. I mean, I'm no spring chicken, but at the same time, mentally wise, I still wanna create music and try new things and listen to new music and go out and see shows. But there's a lot of people that just get so trapped in the past. And that's not only in the music scene, but just in general in life. They get in their comfort zone and they find it very hard to step outside of that. And they become like — like, your parents are, like, 'Oh, I don't understand that. There's nothing good now. This is just noise.' And all they do is complain about how it's not the same. It's, like, obviously, it's not the same. Nothing is the same. Everything has been passing you by, changing. That's life. That's sad in a way, but at the same time, what's really inviting is the fact that there are people who weren't around then, who are listening to new things, who have their own opinion and go to shows. And that's really kept SEPULTURA alive — that open mentality. There are old fans that are like that, too, as well, but it took them some time to get used to change, but change is gonna happen, whether you like it or not."
SEPULTURA's latest album, "Quadra", was released on February 7 via Nuclear Blast Records. The disc is a concept effort created at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios with renowned producer Jens Bogren. It will be followed by a world tour starting in March.
SEPULTURA comprises Green, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr., guitarist Andreas Kisser and drummer Eloy Casagrande.

BRING ME THE HORIZON Is Working On New Music
British rockers BRING ME THE HORIZON are back in the studio working on new music.
The band, which released its acclaimed sixth album "Amo" more than a year ago, is already putting together ideas for the follow-up effort.
Speaking to NME at the Brit Awards 2020, frontman Oli Sykes revealed that he and his bandmates recently spent time in Amsterdam laying down tracks for what will become their next release.
"We'll give ourselves a day to recover tomorrow and then get straight into it. We're planning on having music soon, to be honest," Sykes said (see video below).
When asked about the musical direction of BRING ME THE HORIZON's new material, Sykes said it is "evolving every day." He added: "The concept and the idea of what we're thinking is different every day. We thought we might have an idea of where we want to take it, and I think there's just gonna be a cosmic force that pulls us in different ways, so it's gonna be unexpected again, I think."
BRING ME THE HORIZON was nominated for the "Best British Group" award at the Brits, but lost to FOALS.
This past December, BRING ME THE HORIZON dropped a surprise new album. The eight-song set runs for an hour and 15 minutes and features guest appearances from Halsey, Happyalone., Toriel, Yonaka, Lotus Eater and Bexey. Two of the tracks clock in at more than 10 minutes each, while "Underground Big {HEADFULOFHYENA}" runs over 24 minutes long.
The LP followed BRING ME THE HORIZON's video for "Ludens", a song the band recorded for the "Death Stranding: Timefall (Original Music From The World Of Death Stranding)" soundtrack, featuring original music inspired by the PlayStation 4 (PS4) video game "Death Stranding".
Last year, Sykes told NME that the group is changing its approach to releasing music, saying: "We're not going to do an album again, maybe ever. We're thinking about doing shorter records... the plan is to release multiple records [in 2020]."

DEVANGELIC - New Album Ersetu Due In May, First Single "Sigils Of Fallen Abominations" Streaming Now
Italy's Devangelic are back with their third full-length album Ersetu, scheduled for release on May 15 via Willowtip Records on CD, LP and digital formats.
Named after the Akkadian term for "Mesopotamian Underworld / Realm Of The Dead,” Ersetu is a concept album based on the Annunaki’s myth “Those Who From Heaven To Earth Came.” The myth explores the theory of creation through the alien DNA, human slavery and the legend of the great serpent (the Knower) as the emblem of Enki and of two of his sons, Ningishzidda and Marduk.
The band comments on the album: "We worked hard during the past two years to create our best songs; the new effort is certainly our most brutal and mature material to date. The concept, music and lyrics represent a new chapter of the band's career and on what Devangelic will move on with the future releases."
The band has just launched the album’s first single, "Sigils Of Fallen Abominations". Stream the track now:
Featuring nine tracks of otherworldly death metal, Ersetu is a journey through the ancient land of Mesopotamia all combined with the darkest elements of the Sumerian's religion and deities.
Tracklisting:
"Swarm Of Serpents"
"Upon The Wrath Of Divinities"
"Eyes Of Abzu"
"Subterranean Revelations"
"Embalmed In Visceral Fluids"
"Throne Of Larvae"

"Sigils Of Fallen Abominations"
"Cryptic Resurrection"

BLACK MIRRORS Release Unplugged Single And Video "Whispering Ghost"
Belgian rockers Black Mirrors have released an official video for the acoustic version of their song, "Whispering Ghost". Check it out below.
Says the band: "The concept behind 'Whispering Ghost' goes a bit deeper lyrically as it tells Marcella’s story about someone very dear to her passing away. We wanted the song to sound like a farewell. Now, every time the audience is singing the melody with us, it feels like a nice goodbye and a tribute to Marcella's 19 year old friend who's sailing away. The vocals on this version go deeper than the original version and we’re very happy with the result."
Since the release of their debut album, Look Into The Black Mirror, in September 2018, the band has played over 120 shows in 16 European countries, and on top of that, the band won the prestigious D6cibels Music Award in the category “Rock & Alternative”. Following these exceptional months, it is no surprise that in addition, the famous Eurosonic showcase festival in Groningen sent a special invitation. Now, Black Mirrors have revealed a new facet.
The original first single from their hypnotizing debut is now available in its purest form - an intimate acoustic version that will send shivers down your spine. The band offers the perfect equilibrium between modern blues rock and a glimmer of swampy tinted stoner rock.
The black and white audiovisual creates a rich atmosphere and draws you right into their heavenly delights: an emotional perception accompanied by the captivating power of Marcella’s vocals.
Marcella (singer) & Pierre (guitarist) on the new video and unplugged song: “As kids of the 90's, we grew up with bands like Nirvana and Alice In Chains playing their songs unplugged. We loved to see how faster rock songs changed into something slow with a very intense and deeper feel to it. With ‘Günther Kimmich Unplugged’ we turned a fast, straightforward rock song with heavy riffs into something very intimate and melodic. We often make acoustic versions of our own songs during breaks in between tours and we’re happy to share it with our fans now!”

OZZY says that he plans to start work on new album
Ozzy Osbourne says that he plans to start work on the follow-up to his new album Ordinary Man as soon as possible.
Speaking to iHeart Radio’s Eddie Pappani, Ozzy said: “I'm hoping that next month I'll go and do another album with Andrew [Watt, Ordinary Man producer]. I might as well, while I'm not doing gigs.
Ozzy recently postponed the North American leg of his No More Tours 2 tour after revealing that he has diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, prompting suggestions that he would retire.
He admitted: “I've thought about it. I sometimes think crazy thoughts like that. I cannot retire. I love [the fans].”
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Ozzy said that his new album Ordinary Man is the first time he has recorded “completely sober”.
Said Ozzy: “I thought it was the drugs and alcohol that made it all work. But it’s not true. All I was doing for years is self-medicating, cos I didn't like the way I felt. But then this is the first album I've co-wrote and recorded fucking completely sober.
"The last album, I wrote some of it stoned. I quite like being sober now. Cos at least I can remember the fucking thing I did yesterday."
Ozzy, who has been sober for seven years, says that he’s shocked he’s still alive while musicians such as Bon Scott, Chris Cornell and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington have all died.
He said: "I'm not being funny and I'm not being cocky, I can remember times when I've fucking woke up with puke down me," he continued. "I've fucking woke up with a bed full of blood, when I've fallen down and banged my head or whatever. My friend John Bonham, I used to go drinking with him. He died. Bon Scott, he died. I don't know what to fuckin' say.
"People go, 'You must have the Midas touch' or whatever," he added. "I'm lucky. I wasn't any better than any of them. I even fucking would go so far as to say I was worse in some cases. But it's the luck of the draw. Seventy-one and I don't fucking understand how I got there."

METALLICA Pulls Out Of SONIC TEMPLE And LOUDER THAN LIFE Festivals; JAMES HETFIELD Issues Statement
METALLICA has regretfully had to cancel their headline performances at Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio (May 15 and May 17) and Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky (September 18 and September 20) to allow singer James Hetfield to continue his road to recovery.
METALLICA reassures its fans that the band will appear at Danny Wimmer Presents festivals Epicenter (May 1 and May 3), Welcome To Rockville (May 8 and May 10) and Aftershock (October 9 and October 11) as scheduled.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS (recently reunited with guitarist John Frusciante) and TOOL have been announced as new headliners for Sonic Temple, joining Saturday's headliner SLIPKNOT for the May 15-17 festival at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS will headline Friday, May 15 while TOOL will headline Sunday, May 17.
Hetfield has released the following statement regarding the cancelations:
"Dear METALLICA Family,
"It pains me to write this, but I have to let all of you know that I cannot make it to Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville this year. As part of my continuing effort to get and stay healthy, I have critical recovery events on those weekends that cannot be moved. I apologize to all of our fans who have bought tickets for these festivals. We are working with the festival promoters to provide for refunds or exchanges.
"My intent with this statement is saying 'I apologize' to each one of you. The reality is that I have not prioritized my health in the past year of touring and I now know that my mental health comes first. That might sound like a no-brainer for most of you but I didn’t want to let the METALLICA team/family down and, I alone completely compromised myself.
"Looking on the brighter side, my therapy is going well. It was absolutely necessary for me to look after my mental, physical, and spiritual health.
"I want to stress that the band will play all other announced 2020 shows.
"I am looking forward to getting back to playing and seeing all our great South American fans in April. And, of course, playing the Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome To Rockville, in Daytona and Aftershock Festival in Sacramento. We will still play two unique sets at each of these festivals.
"Beyond 2020, I am optimistic about the blessings I have been given and what the future brings. I appreciate all the great prayers and support from everyone since I went into rehab last September. Like the moth into the flame, being human in this career has its huge challenges and can be difficult. Your understanding helps the healing."
Danny Wimmer Presents founder and festival creator Danny Wimmer says: "First and foremost, I want to say how much I respect and support James for taking care of himself, and for his commitment to getting healthy. At the same time, I am also deeply devoted to providing our festivalgoers with the biggest and best festival experience in the world. As disappointed as we all are to lose METALLICA, I am thrilled that RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and TOOL, dear friends of both DWP and METALLICA, are stepping up on short notice to join SLIPKNOT, keeping Sonic Temple on track to be the greatest rock festival in America."
Sonic Temple and Louder Than Life pass holders who would like to exchange their passes to see METALLICA at another Danny Wimmer Presents festival, or would like to receive a refund, will be able to do so starting this Friday, February 28. An email will be sent out to purchasers from Front Gate Ticketing on Friday at 10:00 a.m. EST with complete exchange and refund details.
Hetfield has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when METALLICA canceled an Australian tour and announced that Hetfield was returning to rehab to battle his addictions. The singer/guitarist first got treatment in 2002, a process that was chronicled in the 2004 documentary "Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster".
James made his first major public appearance since entering rehab on January 30, when an exhibit featuring 10 of his classic custom cars opened with a ticketed reception at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
Hetfield performed live for the time since his rehab stay on Thursday (February 20) at a tribute to Eddie Money. The METALLICA frontman played an acoustic rendition of Money's "Baby Hold On" at Saban in Beverly Hills, California.
Dear Metallica Family,
It pains me to write this, but I have to let all of you know that I cannot make it to Sonic...

MEGADETH To Begin Recording New Album Before Hitting The Road With LAMB OF GOD
MEGADETH is preparing to enter the studio to begin tracking its sixteenth album.
The band revealed its recording plans over the weekend while thanking its fans and crew for a successful European tour with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH which ended on Saturday (February 22) in Sofia, Bulgaria.
MEGADETH wrote: "We wanted to thank the bands we played with, our amazing hardworking crew who help us put on the best show possible night after night, the venues, security, & our die hard fans who traveled far and wide to see us play. It means the world to us! An extra special thank you to Cullen and Ellie at adidas for setting us up with these amazing jackets! Kept us warm in these beautiful frozen European cities.
"We are heading home for a brief break, record album 16 and then preparing for our summer tour with LAMB OF GOD, TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. Get your tickets now, you don't want to miss what we have planned for you!"
Last December, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine spoke to Rolling Stone about the musical direction of the band's new material. He said "The Dogs Of Chernobyl" has a feel similar to 2016's "Dystopia" album, while he said "Faster Than Anything Else" and "Rattlehead, Part Two" — both of which only have working titles at this point — speak for themselves.
According to Mustaine, David Ellefson has contributed a ballad at the frontman's urging that will feature the bassist's lead vocals for the first time. "I said to him, 'What was the biggest song that KISS ever had?'" Mustaine said. "He goes, 'Beth'. I said, 'Yeah, we should write a song like 'Beth', where it's a ballad and it’s just you singing it. I think you should write a song about what it's like being in MEGADETH with me, because I read all your lyrics, and I know that your lyrics are aimed at me. You're upset. So why don't you write about it?'"
He added: "I'm going to try to work on it now for this record, and if it doesn't get on this record, I'm going to try to work on it on the next record. Because it was actually really cool to see Ellefson writing something and hear him singing."
The early sessions for MEGADETH's 16th studio album took place in Franklin, Tennessee with co-producer Chris Rakestraw, who previously worked on "Dystopia".
Mustaine spent most of 2019 receiving treatment for throat cancer with which he was diagnosed last May.
MEGADETH's next LP will be the first to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren (ex-SOILWORK), who joined the band almost four years ago.
Guitarist Kiko Loureiro made his recording debut with MEGADETH on "Dystopia", whose title track was honored in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD's 55-date tour will be split into two legs, the first of which kicks off June 12 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, and wraps August 1 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California. The second run launches October 2 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida, and runs through November 13 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.
Mustaine and Ellefson are the two remaining original members of MEGADETH, which was formed in 1983, following Mustaine's dismissal from METALLICA.
We wanted to thank the bands we played with, our amazing hardworking crew who help us put on the best show possible...
