BON JOVI To Release '2020' Album In May; 'Limitless' Single Now Available

A new BON JOVI song titled "Limitless" can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "2020", which will be released on May 15. The effort will be made available as a CD, gold vinyl and as a digital download.

Frontman Jon Bon Jovi said about the album's title: "The meaning behind it — there's the obvious. It's an election year, and I couldn't do any worse. And I also have clear vision. 'This House Is Not For Sale' dealt with a lot of personal matters, and now it's behind us. So, '2020' — of course, it's an election year, but more importantly, it's that I have clear vision going forward."

Earlier this month, BON JOVI released an instrumental version of "Limitless" and encouraged fans to take a stab at singing it. A winner will get a chance to join the band on stage and perform the song with Jon Bon Jovi himself.

BON JOVI's U.S. tour will kick off on June 10 in Tacoma, Washington and will conclude July 28 in New York City. Support on most dates will come from Bryan Adams.

"2020" track listing:

01. Beautiful Drug

02. Unbroken

03. Limitless

04. Luv Can

05. Brothers In Arms

06. Story Of Love

07. Lower The Flag

08. Let It Rain

09. Shine

10. Blood In The Water

Last November, BON JOVI released another new song called "Unbroken", which was featured in the documentary "To Be Of Service". Written by Jon Bon Jovi, and produced along with John Shanks, the song shines a spotlight on the thousands of veterans living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Over an illustrious career spanning more than three decades since its formation in 1983, BON JOVI has earned its place among global rock royalty and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2018. With over 130 million albums sold worldwide, and extensive catalog of hit anthems, thousands of concerts performed in more than 50 countries for more than 35 million fans, and ticket grosses well over $1 billion around the world in just the past decade, BON JOVI is the consummate rock and roll band.

AETERNAM Streaming “Al Qassam” Video

Exotic symphonic metal band Aeternam has unveiled a spine-chilling new video for the song “Al Qassam,” the title track from their upcoming fourth album.

“We are thrilled to reveal the music video for the title track of our new album, ‘Al Qassam,’” the band says. “The song is a literal ancient incantation sung in Arabic. The video depicts a woman, played by the talented actress Mahafsoun, who performs a ritual to invoke one of the seven king demons of the Middle Eastern culture.”

The video for “Al Qassam,” which translates to “The Oath” in Arabic, shows the woman reciting the incantation and ritualistically cutting her hand in a blood ritual to invoke the jinn, a demon in Middle Eastern culture. As the words are spoken, the demon begins using a man as vessel to interact with the woman. The woman asks a favor of the demon-man and agrees to travel to a demonic realm in exchange. Ultimately, this costs the woman her life.

“This video is an allegory of how the human being can go very far to get what he wants even if it means to lose his own life,” says the band.

Aeternam has also just launched an Indiegogo campaign for pre-orders of Al Qassam, t-shirts and more.

The album will be released March 27. Al Qassam was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy), and features artwork by well-known artist Eliran Kantor, who has been responsible for the art adorning releases by Fleshgod Apocalypse, Testament, Iced Earth and more. The album also features a guest appearance by Orphaned Land vocalist Kobi Farhi.

Aeternam debuted in 2010 with the album Disciples of the Unseen. Their sophomore release, Moongod, followed in 2012 and their third album, Ruins of Empires, dropped in 2017. Aeternam takes symphonic death metal to a new level with its combination of harmony, brutality and a fascinating ethnic flair.

The Quebec-based band has lined up a run of spring dates along the east coast following the release of Al Qassam.

Tour dates:

DAVID LEE ROTH: 'I've Never Had Any Delusions About My Voice'

In a new interview with StarTribune, David Lee Roth was asked if he is thinking about retiring from the road, like his tourmates KISS, who have already announced "End Of The Road" as their farewell tour

"At my age, everything is a possible farewell tour," he responded. He also addressed criticism about his live performance, saying: "I've never had any delusions about my voice. It sounds like four miles of flat road with knobby tires. Mom used to say that; in fact, she said it last week. However, some people's definition of perfect vocals might be pristine and pretty like Adam Lambert. My definition of absolutely the best vocal in the last 20 years is [sung off-key like Biz Markie]: 'Girl, you got what I need! And you say he's just a friend…'"

Asked directly about his VAN HALEN bandmate Eddie Van Halen — who has been the subject of a lot of rumors regarding his supposedly worsening health — Roth simply said: "You know what I know."

"Ed, God bless him, may have a fair amount of time ahead of him," Roth said, "but going out on the road is an unforgiving task. It kills people."

VAN HALEN has been inactive since it completed its U.S. tour in October 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

Roth's "Rocks Vegas" Las Vegas residency kicked off in early January and is scheduled to play six more dates in March at the House Of Blues. Backing the 65-year-old singer are lead guitarist Al Estrada from the VAN HALEN tribute band ERUPTION, rhythm guitarist Frankie Lindri, bassist Ryan Wheeler, keyboardist Danny Wagner and drummer Mike Mussleman.

This isn't the first time David has set up shop in Sin City. Back in 1995, Roth completed a Las Vegas engagement at Bally's Hotel and Casino and another short run at MGM Grand.

VOODOO SIX Featuring KK’S PRIEST’s TONY NEWTON Streaming New Single “Never Beyond Repair”

Voodoo Six, the London based hard rock band renowned for delivering driving, contemporary rock with an undercurrent of blues and killer riffs, has released their third single, “Never Beyond Repair”, taken off their upcoming album Simulation Game, the second album featuring vocalist and frontman Nik Taylor-Stoakes later in March 2020. Stream the single on Spotify.

Recorded at Barnyard Studios, Simulation Game consists of ten tracks produced/mixed by Tony Newton (Iron Maiden, British Lion, Airrace) and mastered by Ade Emsley (Iron Maiden, Steve Harris). With the addition of Tom Gentry (GUN/Marco Mendoza) on guitar, fans are treated to an even more dynamic six-string assault than on previous records and live performances.

Voodoo Six quotes about the third single “Never Beyond Repair”:

“Matter how broken we feel we are ‘never beyond repair’. This world is full of arseholes trying to break you, and they might succeed. Get up! Keep going! You are never beyond repair.

“In general life can be really tough, everyone is going through something you might just not know about it, these words are personal, this is how I felt and still feel, I don’t like to talk but I had to express something as I felt I was getting close to doing something stupid, this was my expression, you are not alone, you are never beyond repair.

“Eternal under achiever, the nearly man, one step short of success every time, my best never quite good enough, I feel it, you feel it, but I tried, I can accept failure, but I can’t accept not trying, it hurts, it breaks, but never beyond repair.

“This album is the album we’ve always wanted to make! Lyrically and musically it’s the album the world needs right now, I just hope they get to hear it! In a genre flooded will countless heritage acts it feels great to do something with a voice and integrity. Every track can stand alone...these clichés are always thrown out by artists, however with The Simulation Game we actually mean it. This isn’t classic rock! The world doesn’t need any more classic rock regurgitating the same riffs and formulas for the last 40-50 years now! Yes, The Simulation Game isn’t reinventing the wheel, but it is its own thing, it has its own identity!”

Tracklisting:

“The Traveller”
“Gone Forever”
“Liar And A Thief”
“Inherit My Shadow”
“Last To Know”
“Lost”
“Never Beyond Repair”

VOICES OF RUIN Release Music Video For New Track "I Am God"

Southern California melodic death metal quintet, Voices Of Ruin, unveils “I Am God”, the first taste of their forthcoming third album (and M-Theory Audio debut) Path To Immortality. A lyric video for the track, designed by Rafael Ortega of Ecliptic Visions (The Absence, Helsott), can be seen below.

“I Am God” can now be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms. In addition, the song is downloadable instantly with all digital pre-orders of Path To Immortality. Physical pre-orders for the album - which was produced by Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader (Gojira, Septicflesh) and includes a cover of the Foo Fighters' “Everlong” - are available on compact disc and limited-edition splatter vinyl via Bandcamp and the M-Theory Audio webshop. The cover artwork by Par Olofsson (Exodus, Immortal, Revocation) is pictured below.

Says vocalist Dave Barrett, “We are stoked to release 'I Am God' as the first look into our upcoming album. This song’s an absolute ripper with shreddy guitars and aggressive verse. The lyrical content tells the story of a demon taking control of this universe and beyond, which is brilliantly captured by Par's artwork. Rafael did an amazing job piecing together this lyric video to flow with the song - kudos!”

Adds guitarist Tom Barrett, “It was difficult to choose a single because all of the songs turned out killer, but we felt that 'I Am God' was a good place to start. It tips the hat to classic melodic death metal while also incorporating thrash elements and a crushing production, and it's a furious track that represents the intensity of the album. We think it's by far our strongest material to date, and we can't wait to unleash it in April!”

Voices Of Ruin - who describe their sound as an epically-crafted blend of classic heavy metal and modern death metal that also pays homage to the traditional Scandinavian melodic death metal sound - have performed extensively in support of their two self-released albums, 2010's Into Oblivion and 2015's Born From The Dark. In addition to winning the US Wacken Metal Battle in 2018 - when they bested dozens of unsigned groups to earn the chance to perform at the world's largest annual heavy metal festival - the group has toured Europe with Internal Bleeding and Sacrificial Slaughter; supported Vader across North America on the 2017 Strike Of The Empire tour; played in Japan alongside Vader and Hate; and performed extensively in Southern California alongside a number of notable acts, including Morbid Angel, Trivium, Devildriver, Dark Tranquillity, Amorphis, Cattle Decapitation, Dying Fetus and Origin.

For the past six years, Voices Of Ruin have also organized the annual Ruinfest festival, a celebration of California's extreme metal scene that has featured the likes of Fallujah, Exmortus, Pessimist, Skeletal Remains, Helsott and Letum Ascensus. The band will return to the stage in their native Orange County alongside Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum in Santa Ana, California on April 3.

Voices Of Ruin is:

Dave Barrett - vocals
Tom Barrett - lead guitar
Steve Calton - rhythm guitar
Wally Myers - bass
Lonnie Van Horn - drums

AENIMUS - Metal Meets Tango In "Between Iron And Silver" Music Video; Band Announce New Guitarist

Bay Area natives, Aenimus, have released a music video for "Between Iron And Silver", off the band's most recent offering, Dreamcatcher. Watch below.

Seth Stone comments,"We are happy to premiere our music video for 'Between Iron And Silver'. The idea behind the video was to create a dance that showed passion, struggle and intensity between two dancers to metaphorically represent the relationship between Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling from the novel and hit movie Hannibal.

"The lyrical concept of 'Between Iron And Silver' is a letter from Dr. Lecter to Clarice expressing his obsession for her, the spell he has over her and his desire for Clarice to 'Join me in the darks of hell.' We sought out the help and immense skills of Joe Ferreira and Dahiana Oliver to create and perform a powerful dance routine to retell this story. The two absolutely captured my vision and beyond, utilizing their background in tango and contemporary dance. It’s not common that two things on the opposite side of the spectrum like tango and death metal can come together to create something so powerful and beautiful, but I feel that as a team we accomplished that very thing and I hope you enjoy the video as much as we did creating it for you all."

The band also announces the departure of guitarist Sean Swafford and the introduction of Greg Paulson as the new guitarist.

Aenimus comments, "With the release of the video you will notice the absence of guitarist Sean Swafford. Unfortunately, Sean is not able to tour anymore and since touring is so important to the success of bands these days, Sean made the decision to step down from Aenimus. We all have the highest respect and love for Sean and are so thankful to have had him be apart of Aenimus all these years. With that, we have the pleasure of welcoming Greg Paulson into the band. He is both an incredible guitarist and has been an absolute pleasure to tour with this last year. We are very excited about the new music him and Jordan have been writing together recently and are confident he will be a great addition to Aenimus."

Sean Swafford comments, "It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from Aenimus. I want to be clear that this split was amicable. I am at a point in my life where touring is not possible any longer. This breaks my heart. I’ve put in more than half of my life to make this my sole endeavor. I have made huge strides and I’m grateful for those opportunities. I’ve made lifelong friends that I would’ve otherwise never met. I will continue to make music since it’s still so much fun. Thanks to everyone that has supported me to get to this point.

"I would like to give thanks to my parents for always encouraging me, housing me on tour and supporting me at shows. Thanks to my band mates for allowing me in the band and, specifically, Seth for always finding ways to keep this band afloat. Thanks to the many people that have housed us on tour. Thanks to Gerardo and Nuclear Blast for always being so generous and putting faith in us. Most of all, thanks to the fans for helping remind me why I did it in the first place. This won’t be the last you hear from me. Cheers to a new chapter."

Greg Paulson states, "I am thrilled to be officially joining Aenimus as the new guitarist! I have big shoes to fill, but am very grateful for this opportunity. After having done 2 tours with the band, I realized how well we connect musically. We have begun the writing process for an epic new record, and have a lot more exciting news to come. See you guys on the road!"

SCORPIONS Postpone Sydney Concert Due to 'Medical Emergency'

SCORPIONS have been forced to postpone their concert in Sydney, Australia.

The German hard rock legends, who are in the middle of a tour of Australia with WHITESNAKE, called off Saturday's (February 22) gig "due to a medical emergency within the SCORPIONS tour party."

"Live Nation is working on a rescheduled date for next week, with details to follow as soon as possible," the promoter said in a statement.

"All existing tickets will remain valid for entry on the rescheduled date, without the need for exchange. Refunds will be available for patrons who are unable to attend the rescheduled date and can be obtained by contacting their point of purchase."

METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD Performs For First Time Since Rehab Stay (Video)

James Hetfield performed live for the time since his rehab stay on Thursday (February 20) at a tribute to Eddie Money. The METALLICA frontman played an acoustic rendition of Money's "Baby Hold On" at Saban in Beverly Hills, California.

Hetfield wasn't among the announced guests at "A Star-Studded Tribute To Eddie Money", proceeds from which benefited the USC Eddie Money Cancer Research Fund.

Hetfield and Money were friends, with the METALLICA guitarist/vocalist recalling how he first connected with the late singer.

"So I got to hang out with Eddie the last probably three years of his life," James said before playing the song. "I saw the cleaned-up version of Eddie.

He explained that he first met Money at an Oakland Raiders football game where Eddie was performing the national anthem. "I met him before he went out there, and he kinda blew me off," Hetfield recalled. "I thought, 'Who is is this pompous ass?' And if you spot it, you've got it, is what I'm saying. So it was like two big dogs going in a circle around each other, which was kind of funny. I saw through it. I saw through that ego, and he saw through mine, and we got to be friends, 'cause I think our egos matched the size or our insecurities."

Hetfield has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when METALLICA canceled an Australian tour and announced that Hetfield was returning to rehab to battle his addictions. The singer/guitarist first got treatment in 2002, a process that was chronicled in the 2004 documentary "Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster".

James made his first major public appearance since entering rehab on January 30, when an exhibit featuring 10 of his classic custom cars opened with a ticketed reception at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

IRIST Streaming New Single "Severed" (Visualizer)

Georgian metal quintet, Irist, have released the second single, “Severed”, from their upcoming album, Order Of The Mind, out March 27 via Nuclear Blast.

The band’s recent upward trajectory can be traced just a few short weeks back to the premiere of their crushing first single, “Burning Sage”, which set the metal scene ablaze with its rousing infusion of progressive metal and vitriol hardcore. Now, the band follows with another massive track, “Severed”, that further demonstrates dynamic songwriting, lyrical depth and the power of their riffs.

Discussing the meaning behind the new song, vocalist Rodrigo Carvalho says, “‘Severed’ is about transcendence. It is a dark song that talks about detachment from material things and connecting with nature. It’s supernatural vibe contrasts with aggressive elements that make for a moody yet commanding song.”

The framework for Irist began in the summer of 2015 when South American born friends Pablo Davila (guitar) and Bruno Segovia (bass) conspired on a dream of finding success in music outside their native lands as iconic metal band Sepultura had done decades before. After relocating from their homelands to Atlanta, the duo brought on Adam Mitchell (guitar) and Jason Belisha (drums) and began writing music. After the addition of vocalist Rodrigo Carvalho, the group’s creative cohesion and songwriting improved immensely and Irist was officially born.

On Order Of The Mind, Irist’s skillful songwriting is jaw-droppingly impressive, and although only together for a relatively short period of time, they sound years ahead of a “debut” record and more like a well-seasoned band in the prime of their career. While there are vestiges of the group’s pan-South American heritage (from Andean music to Sepultura) throughout Order Of The Mind, the band’s collective influences come from all parts of the heavy spectrum. From The Melvins, Ratos de Porão, and Alice in Chains to The Dillinger Escape Plan, Soundgarden, and Converge, Irist fold in, twist fervently, and scorch their faves until they’re decidedly protean and uniquely a product of the fivesome’s songwriting prowess. In many respects, Order Of The Mind is itinerant, introspective, portentous, indefatigable in its attack, but that’s not all it is either. Irist’s angst-powered thrusts are distinctly advanced utilizing opposing forces, textures, and layers, so no single sonic model fits perfectly.

Order Of The Mind was engineered, produced, and mixed by Lewis Johns at the Ranch Production House in Southampton, UK and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Ted Jensen (Metallica, Mastodon) at Sterling Sound.

FOREIGNER Performs Classic Hit "Feels Like The First Time" Live At SiriusXM; Video

British-American rockers, Foreigner, performed hits and told stories in front of a Los Angeles audience at the Sirius XM studios, hosted by original MTV VJ and Sirius XM host, Alan Hunter. Watch them perform their classic hit "Feels Like The First Time", first released in 1977 on the band's eponymous debut album, below:

During the event, guitarist Mick Jones revealed he was once the opening act for The Beatles.

“I was fortunate enough to play on the same bill as them in Paris when I was a mere youngster,” he says. “And I got to hang out with them for a week. It was the Olympia theatre in Paris in 1964. I was playing with a French artist, a girl. I had recently bought a guitar on credit and it was my prize possession. It was my first Les Paul. What would happen was when we finished our set, the Beatles would come running on and the curtain would fall. One evening the curtain snagged my guitar and pulled me down on the floor. I was cursing in English and John Lennon said “he lad, I thought you were a frog. We didn’t realize you were English. Come and have a drink with the boys afterwards.” I can still hear those words - “come and have a drink with the boys.”

STATUS QUO Singer / Guitarist FRANCIS ROSSI And HANNAH RICKARD Release "Heartbreaker" Single; Lyric Video Streaming

Francis Rossi, founder of the mighty Status Quo, is gearing up for a busy 2020. Rossi, a bona fide musical legend, has confirmed the release of a final single from his collaborative album recorded with vocalist Hannah Rickard. "Heartbreaker" is out today, and you can watch a lyric video for the song below.

The single release comes just ahead of a new round of the hugely successful spoken word tour that will see him and writer/compere Mick Wall discussing his Quo guitarist’s illustrious career and taking questions from fans.

"Heartbreaker" is taken from We Talk Too Much, the album by Rossi / Rickard that was released in 2019 - the pair met when Hannah Rickard worked with Status Quo on the hugely successful Aquostic projects. Reconnecting with one of Rossi’s true loves, this is a collection of country-flavoured duets and was released via earMUSIC. Featuring all brand-new material, and boasting writing credits for Rossi and Rickard as well as Quo stalwart Bob Young, this album was a true labour of love.

On the I Talk Too Much spoken word tour, Rossi will share the extraordinary secrets of his 50-plus years in rock’n’roll when he takes to the stage for an intimate evening at 54 theatres across the UK (full routing here) kicking off on March 11 in Wimborne and culminating on June 9 in Portsmouth. Expect laughter, revelations, tales involving some of the giants of music, exclusive video clips, snatches of classic tunes and a great night out.

Rossi said: “It will be live and unscripted, so god knows what could happen! One thing's for sure though, it’ll be a white-knuckle ride for me, but fans will get a real unvarnished insight into what’s happened over the years. I’ll be taking a guitar along to demonstrate how some of those Quo classics came into being, and hopefully we’ll take a few questions from the audience too.”

TESTAMENT's ALEX SKOLNICK On Brief Stint As OZZY OSBOURNE's Guitarist In 1995: 'There Was Still A Lot Of Craziness In That Camp'

Andrew McKaysmith of the "Scars And Guitars" podcast recently conducted an interview with lead guitarist Alex Skolnick of San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT. You can listen to the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On whether he's "overqualified" to be playing in TESTAMENT considering his accomplishments in the jazz guitar world:

Alex: "I hear that sometimes. I think it helps me definitely to be able to stretch out. We're sort of at a point — there has been for this whole later period of the band that I've been able to do that. I've been able to stretch out and balance out all of my other styles of music and working with musicians outside of the metal world. It's hard for me to exist in a bubble. I do love playing the music. The fans are amazing, the community is amazing, but I think one of the things that's helped is just not being stuck in a bubble. Thanks to technology, being able to have a personal computer on tour with a full-fledged recording studio with software and being able to work on any music I want during the day helps a lot, and also being able to send files to other musicians or work on my educational projects, whether it's video content for TrueFire or written projects that I'm doing. It wasn't like that the first few years of the band. It was just a pressure cooker of release an album, go straight on tour, do an album cycle, do the next record. I think, for me, I needed to get away and just develop on my own. But, now it's different. Having had that time away and being able to balance it just makes it much more doable."

On replacing the deceased Criss Oliva in SAVATAGE in 1994 for the recording of "Handful Of Rain":

Alex: "It was a big honor. I've been a big fan of the band in high school. I was one of many friends — that first album they did [1983's 'Sirens'], it wasn't well distributed. They didn't have a real record label at the time — it was very hard to get. Everybody had a third-generation cassette of that SAVATAGE record. At that time, I couldn't have imagined being asked to play for SAVATAGE. It worked out. It was very sad there was an opening because of Criss's loss. I was very honored to do it and it was a very good thing to do musically because, at that point, I had pretty much only recorded thrash stuff, TESTAMENT in its formative years, which is great, but it's very limited. With SAVATAGE, I am actually playing with some slow grooves, there's actually piano on a few tracks. It was a nice chance to explore some of the other sides of music as well."

On landing the coveted guitarist gig in Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1995 only to be told less than a month later it had been given to someone else:

Alex: "It was what it was. It was one of those things. Again, that was probably the greatest gig of all. Randy Rhoads was one of my favorite guitarists, but I do think at that point, yeah, it was a strange period. They sort of had gone back and forth with Zakk Wylde. At that point, Zakk Wylde, he's just such a larger-than-life presence and just knowing what I know about show business now, I understand it. They were used to somebody like Zakk Wylde, like a big lumberjack. [Laughs] I think that's what they had in mind. With all respect to Zakk, I think he's great, [but] Randy was my guy; Randy was my big influence. I really tried to bring more of that, but yeah, it was a crazy period. From what I've heard, just the tour was kind of crazy. There was still a lot of craziness in the Osbourne camp. It takes a certain know-how to just be able to come in and be a part of that. I suppose I could say, if I may be so bold, I had the musical skills, but there's more than musical skills required. [Laughs] I had the experience and that was it. It worked out well. It definitely motivated me to work harder at developing my improvisational skills and just focusing on finding what I wanted to do as a musician."

In a 2004 interview, Skolnick called the experience of being dropped from Ozzy's band "a major lesson in the music business." He explained: "I go home [after playing the Rock City gig in Nottingham, England] and don't hear anything for three weeks. Finally, I called Sharon's [Osbourne] assistant, who was surprised that she hadn't called me yet and that I should expect a call from Sharon. I sensed bad news. When Sharon called, she told me they really liked my playing and appreciate the time I put in, but they've decided to hire someone else, Joe Holmes. With all due respect to Holmes, to this day everyone I've spoken to has no idea why they [or she] made this decision. I was told it might have been because Holmes was a former student of Randy Rhoads."

TESTAMENT's new album, "Titans Of Creation", will be released April 3 via Nuclear Blast.

Video Premiere: BODY COUNT's 'Bum-Rush'

"Bum-Rush", the new music video from BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by hip-hop legend, actor and director Ice-T, can be seen below. The clip was shot in New York as well as Los Angeles and it was produced and directed by Jay Rodriguez for Itchy House Films. The New York footage was shot by Eric Mittleman.

"Bum-Rush" is taken from BODY COUNT's seventh studio album, "Carnivore", which will be released on March 6 via Century Media. BODY COUNT's second album for Century Media continues the path of its uncompromising and critically acclaimed predecessors, "Bloodlust" (2017) and "Manslaugther" (2014), in pairing Ice-T's impassioned and socio-critical lyrics with thick guitar riffs and nods to metal and hardcore greats like SLAYER, METALLICA, PANTERA, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Bangers like "Thee Critical Beatdown", "The Hate Is Real" and the title track will please old-school BODY COUNT fans, while "Colors" is a killer metal version of Ice-T's 1988 hit single of the same name. With MOTÖRHEAD's classic "Ace Of Spades", BODY COUNT is again paying tribute to one of its major musical influences. "When I'm Gone" shows a new side of BODY COUNT and features guest vocals by Amy Lee (EVANESCENCE). Other guest musicians include Dave Lombardo (ex-SLAYER), Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) and Riley Gale (POWER TRIP).

"Carnivore" will be available as a digipak CD, as gatefold LP+CD (including bonus track) and as limited 2CD box set (including three bonus tracks, the instrumental version of the album, a BODY COUNT beanie, a metallic pin and a poster featuring the fantastic cover artwork created by Zbigniew M. Bielak).

Video Premiere: THE AMITY AFFLICTION's 'Forever'

"Forever", the new video from Australian metalcore trailblazers THE AMITY AFFLICTION, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them", which will be released on February 21 via Pure Noise Records.

"'Forever' is a song about the dueling internal narrative while in the depths of a depressive episode," says singer Joel Birch. "On the one hand, love and support, on the other hand, thoughts of suicide, while also grappling with the follow-on effect it would have. I made a promise to myself to make it to my son's eighteenth birthday when he was three, and I intend to keep it. Hopefully by then I will have figured out how to properly cope with what is likely a lifelong battle with Bipolar II."

"Forever" follows the previously released singles "Soak Me In Bleach" and "All My Friends Are Dead". All three tracks represent some of the heaviest, most memorable material and the most relatable lyrics of the band's deeply personal catalog. As always, THE AMITY AFFLICTION hold nothing back, allowing fans to get closer than ever on "Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them".

"This album is a result of our re-found love for heavy music," THE AMITY AFFLICTION said. "We wanted to make a heavier album to back up our most recent releases to let our fans know that we understand what the majority want to hear from us. We have experimented creatively over the years and are now able to apply what we've learned to what we consider the perfect blend of AMITY new and old."

"Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them" track listing:

01. Coffin

02. All My Friends Are Dead

03. Soak Me In Bleach

04. All I Do Is Sink

05. Baltimore Rain

06. Aloneliness

07. Forever

08. Just Like Me

AETHER REALM - Redneck Vikings From Hell Album Due In May; "Goodbye" Music Video Posted

Aether Realm takes the next step! After signing with Napalm Records in 2018, the four-piece from North Carolina is ready to unleash their newest multi-faceted full-length, Redneck Vikings From Hell, to be released on May 1. The new album will take you on a stupefying rollercoaster ride of death metal, thrash and even neo-classical shred. With their new album, the band improves upon their already distinctive sound that’s been astonishing fans since day one.

Today, Aether Realm has revealed a brand new music video for their new jaw-dropping single, “Goodbye”, a song that will be stuck in your head all day. Escalating aesthetically into an unmistakably catchy, electronic-influenced chorus, the futuristic video harmonizes breathtaking neon visuals of the clip and the heaviness of the song in an even more spectacular way.

Frontman Vincent "Jake" Jones says about the track: "It's hard to leave people we care about. But something hasn't felt right for a while. We dance around it and put it off as long as we can; 'But maybe this time we can change, but maybe this time we'll make it work' - sometimes you just know it's time to say "Goodbye"."

Watch the video below.

Redneck Vikings From Hell not only cements Aether Realm as a band to watch, but will also have listeners questioning just what exactly they can’t do. Each track on Redneck Vikings From Hell is entirely distinct, setting the stage by playing upon the band’s southern roots with the banjo-laden epic folk metal-inspired title track “Redneck Vikings From Hell”. Meanwhile, the first single “Goodbye” and center-cuts like the thrashy, unwavering “Lean Into The Wind”, the powerful anthem “Hunger” and symphonic brutality banger “Slave To The Riff” provide a weightier sample of the unconventional stylings of Aether Realm 3.0. Otherworldly closing track “Craft And The Creator” drives it all home, showcasing each individual band member's infallible technical skills and featuring hair-raising leads that would make any guitar god blush. The album is strung together by colossal orchestral elements that lift the band to new heights.

Vincent "Jake" Jones comments: “We really didn't want to make Tarot two with this album, not because we don't like it or anything but because we've already done that. So, when I found myself with this chorus for the title track, I just couldn't get it out of my head. We intentionally kept the songs short and dense, and allowed ourselves enough variety between topics to explore that space between how we present ourselves and who we actually are. We're four North Carolina boys - we like epic, bombastic metal, and the only thing to stop us from combining these elements of ourselves musically is our own attachment to the conventions of the genre.”

Redneck Vikings From Hell will be available in the following formats:

- 1 CD Digipak
- LP Gatefold BLACK
- Digital Album
- 100 Piece Exclusive Napalm Gold Vinyl

Pre-order here.

GOTTHARD To Release #13 Album In March; "Bad News" Lyric Video Streaming

Swiss rockers, Gotthard, will release their new album, #13, on March 13 via Nuclear Blast. You can pre-order the album here, and watch a lyric video for the new single, "Bad News", below.

Amongst the usual straight up rock and roll that Gotthard are known for, #13 offers remarkable variety between songs - such as the powerful opener "Bad News", the fast hard ’n’ heavy "Every Time I Die", the straight to the point lyrical message of "Man On A Mission", old-school blues-rock with "Another Last Time", epic ballads like "I Can Say I’m Sorry" and unbridled 70’s psychedelia with "Rescue Me".

Aside from the obvious standout of the record, the cover of ABBA‘s world-famous hit "SOS", the first single "Missteria" (video below) confidently displays the band’s passion for experimentation that is on show throughout #13. The eccentric track, that was written in collaboration with none other than Francis Rossi himself, combines an unmistakeable rock structure with flourishes of oriental instrumentation and is a perfect basis for the video, that was recorded at the Madi-Zelt in Berlin. Exotic mysticism, the sense of illusion and sensual dancers, that remind the watcher of Salma Hayek‘s legendary appearance in From Dusk Till Dawn, frame the band’s performance between velvet, deceptive mirrors, fog and fascinating LED-effects. An extremely opulent clip, matching the breathtaking first single.

After 16 #1 albums, over three million records sold worldwide and more than 2000 live shows, #13 proves that Gotthard, even after 25 years, still know how to provide their fans with exactly what they love about the band. #13 was produced by US producer Paul Lani, while Leo Leoni upheld the role of co-producer for the album. The recordings of #1" took place at the Yellow House Studio in Lugano, while the mixing was done in Los Angeles and the final touches were added by the renowned Darcy Proper at Valhalla Studios in New York.

#13 will be available on CD (Jewelcase) with 13 tracks and as a special edition collector’s box (including a digipack with 2 bonus tracks, a bandana and a poster-booklet) as well as a double LP with two bonus tracks.

Tracklisting:

"10.000 Faces"
"S.O.S"
"Another Last Time"
"Better Than Love"
"Save The Date"

As Randy George explains: “After the Similitude tour, expectations were really high, and we had more people coming to these shows than ever before. People were really excited to see it, so we had to make sure that we delivered.”

Performing The Great Adventure flawlessly and in its entirety 47 times in 2019, Neal Morse (vocals, keyboards and guitars), Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals and audience cheerleading), Randy George (bass), Bill Hubauer (keyboards and vocals) and Eric Gillette (guitars and vocals) brought audiences to their feet night after exhilarating night: “The tour delivered every night. We never got tired of playing it, and it always paid off”, says George.

One of the countries was the Czech Republic, and it was there in Brno that the band chose to film The Great Adventour 2019 - Live In Brno, the definitive record of the tour, as George explains: “This was our first time playing in the Czech Republic and this venue had a different look and vibe: the audience also turned out to be very energetic. They loved it!”

The Great Adventour 2019 - Live In Brno shows The Neal Morse Band at the very height of their powers: extraordinary, passionate, intense and intricate rock music played to perfection by five masters of their craft, backed by dramatic video illustrations by Christian Rios.

AXEL RUDI PELL - Official Lyric Video For New "Gunfire" Single Released

German metal wizard Axel Rudi Pell releases a new digital single and lyric video for the song "Gunfire" today. The song is taken from the forthcoming studio album, Sign Of The Times.

Pell "I wrote the lyrics last year, but unfortunately current events in Germany show that we are living in a very uncertain time. 'Gunfire' deals exactly with this topic!"

The figures speak for themselves: more than 1.7 million albums sold worldwide, 2.6 million streams for the top 10 predecessor Knights Call (2018). Now Axel Rudi Pell is about to release Sign Of The Times, his 18th studio album in 31 years.

But quantity doesn't matter - it’s the quality that counts. His consistency enjoys more and more respect and appreciation within the hard & heavy community. Not every time, but with increasing frequency you hear the term ‘cult‘ when it comes to Axel Rudi Pell. Being the man that he is, he cannot rely on that idea, but "if someone is that successful over such a long period of time, he might as well deserve it.”

The 59-year-old knows what he’s capable of, he is still able to surprise himself, like on Sign Of The Times. "I don‘t know why, but this time I finished the songs at least a month ahead of my deadline.”

With the double bass assault "Gunfire", Pell has delivered the best opener of the last ten years or so; "Bad Reputation" is one straightforward melodic rocker; the mighty epic title track was created in a pretty unusual way during a sound check on the last tour; the up-tempo track "The End Of The Line" impresses with a long, but undisputedly catchy chorus, and the ballad "As Blind As A Fool Can Be" is as touching as ever.

But the second part of the album is the most interesting and surprising because Pell breaks with his own traditions several times: "Wings Of The Storm” is a modern-day homage to the Coverdale/Hughes-led line-up of Deep Purple, but delivered in Jimi Hendrix style. The intense "Waiting For Your Call" sees one of Gioeli’s best vocal performances, while the reggae intro on "Living In A Dream" left his bandmates in awe. "Into The Fire" ends the album in the typical, well-known epic Pell way, but is shorter than on the previous efforts. That is one of the differences: the solos are not over the top, but song-orientated and much more melodic, there is no hint of a lack of quality on the whole album.

And you can tell that Axel Rudi Pell is still able to surprise himself AND his fans. What more could you ask for when it comes to a decent birthday present? Axel Rudi Pell is turning 60 in June. There is no better way to celebrate life, right? Watch the sign of the times!

Sign Of The Times will be released on April 24 via SPV/Steamhammer in the following configurations:

WHITE STONES - OPETH Bassist's Death Metal Project Premiers "Drowned In Tears" Lyric Video

From Martin Mendez, bassist of the ubiquitous Opeth, comes White Stones, a solo death metal project. White Stones' debut album, Kuarahy (pronounced Kwa-Ra-Hee), will be released on March 20.

Pre-order the album here, and watch a lyric video for the song "Drowned In Tears", below.

Martin Mendez comments on the signing: "I feel very proud to release this album and being part of the Nuclear Blast catalogue couldn’t be better!"

"It doesn‘t happen very often, that when a manager is coming to the office to discuss matters about a band and then says: 'Would you be interested in listening to this? A new band I am working with'. Well if the manager is Andy Farrow, you know that this has to be good! Already after listening to two songs, we knew that this was special and that we wanted to work with this band! White Stones is the perfect band for you when you are into old Opeth and Morbid Angel; looking forward to unleash this beast“, says Jaap Wagemaker, A&R Manager at Nuclear Blast.

The creative process for White Stones’ debut album, Kuarahy, began during a year-long break Opeth took after the Sorceress tour, as a means of unwinding by exploring new avenues of creativity. Initially that’s all it was ever meant to be.

“I’ve always written music at home but never had the confidence to do anything like this” says Mendez, “I never wrote a song, never presented something I wrote for Mikael (Åkerfeldt, Opeth singer/songwriter). I didn’t have any direction, I came up with the first song for fun. White Stones has nothing to do with Opeth, I see no relation between the two. I played 'Kuarahy' to Mikael a few months ago, he really liked it and was happy for me. Everyone in the band has side projects, it’s important. We tour so much you can become consumed by it; it has been really nice to do something different. White Stones has renewed my strength and energy.”

Named after his birthplace in Uruguay, the record represents a return to his roots, both familial and musically.By exploring the forgotten paths of his ancestors via the style of music that remains his one true love - death metal.

“I feel strongly connected to Uruguay still,” he reflects. “I wanted to write music related to that - the sun on the Uruguayan flag I transformed into the White Stones logo; there are a lot of small things that connect the record to that place. 'Kuarahy' is the native Uruguayan people’s word for ‘Sun’.”

Kuarahy was recorded at the Farm Of Sounds studios in Barcelona and produced by Martin Mendez himself, while Jamie Gomez at the Orgone Studios in the UK was responsible for mixing and mastering.

NOVENA Release Music Video For New Song "Sun Dance"

Novena, the new progressive metal/rock act from the UK including the frontmen Ross Jennings, also of Haken, and Gareth Mason, also of Slice The Cake, have released a video for "Sun Dance", a song from their upcoming Frontiers Music Srl debut, Eleventh Hour, out on March 6.

The new video is a product of a close collaboration with The Cathy Waller Dance Company and filmmaker Neil Monaghan, "Sun Dance" is a passionate, dynamic and intense piece of contemporary dance, at once romantic as it is violent, telling the story of two colossal forces intertwined a battle of wills. With soaring harmony vocals, an infectious rolling groove, and melodic guitar lines, "Sun Dance" shows off another stroke of what to expect from Eleventh Hour.

Pre-order the new album and stream the singles here.

Novena exploits fully the world class skills of their talented line-up: Ross Jennings’ (Halen) unmatchable voice, to Gareth Mason’s (Slice The Cake) inimitable poetry; Dan Thornton’s (ex-Haarp Machine, ex-No Sin Evades His Gaze) blistering guitar work, to Cameron Spence’s (Ravenface) invariably musical drumming, deeply rooted in pop idiom, and unlike anything else in the modern prog scene; from Moat Lowe’s (Slugdge, Ex-NSEHG) expressive and versatile bass playing to Harrison White’s (Theatrical Director and Composer) complex and nuanced compositions. Novena delivers something greater than the sum of its parts.

Novena established themselves on the UK and international prog scenes in 2016 with the release of their widely praised experimental EP Secondary Genesis in 2016 and is now ready for a comeback with their sophomore release, Eleventh Hour. Performing at high profile concerts like UK-Tech Fest 2016 and 2017, as well as other dates supporting Skyharbor, Vola, Sithu Aye, and others, Novena has been busy establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

“Eleventh Hour is an exploration of twilight, a dance in the space between life and death, a collection of swan songs from people real or imagined. Something that connects us all as human beings is the inevitability of death, and yet we all have our own totally unique experiences of it. Those who have experienced it can never share their stories. Those who have not, cannot contemplate it; all we can do is ask questions and tell stories. 'Eleventh Hour' follows the last days of several characters who, whilst separated by space and time, are connected by something greater," says White.

Novena’s music moves from the profound to the profane, from the fragile to the unforgiving, and from the introspective to the utterly destructive, exploring a plethora of different genres along the way. Despite this, every song has a solid and personal identity, with choruses that dare the listener to try and not forget them.

Fans of intelligent, engaging, emotional music will have much to indulge their mind and spirits in with this band. Novena are ready to embark on a tour in support to the spring release of the new album. Dates forthcoming.

Exclusive: FREDDY AND THE PHANTOMS Premieres “River Of Hate” Video

One of Denmark’s hardest touring bands, Freddy And The Phantoms, has premiered their new single and video for “River Of Hate” through BraveWords! The track, featuring a guest solo from Danish guitar play Soren Andersen, is taken from the band’s upcoming album, A Universe From Nothing, due for release April 24 through Mighty Music.

"‘River Of Hate’ is a picture of how politicians and the media feeds on promoting fear, hatred and dividing people into us and them. Trump is the leader of the current movement - the king of lies and deceit,” vocalist/guitarist Freddy Schnoor comments.

On Freddy And The Phantom's fifth album, A Universe From Nothing, the band embark on a new epic chapter in the history they have been writing over the past decade. The door to the future is open and the band now finds itself in a dystopian and dangerous universe, where the threat of doom is constantly lurking in the shadows. There is no easy answer to the highly conceptual new album, which has been inspired by both Dante's The Divine Comedy, Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, and the world's current climate crisis. These heavy themes have also resulted in a heavier and tougher musical expression. A musical transformation that has sent the band into a heavy and sci-fi-rock universe, but without leaving their basic DNA of blues music behind.

DARKER HALF Sign With Massacre Records; If Only You Knew Album Due In March

Australian melodic power metal band, Darker Half, has signed with Massacre Records, and will release its new album, If You Only Knew, in late March.

Consisting of vocalist/guitarist Vo Simpson, guitarist Daniel Packovski, bassist Simon Hamilton and drummer Dom Simpson, Darker Half's sound is rooted in traditional metal drawing on only the heaviest, most face-melting forms of steel.

The album artwork was designed by Karim König, and is based on the painting Stańczyk by the Polish artist Jan Matejko. If You Only Knew was mixed by Chris Themelco at the Monolith Studios, and mastered by Thomas "Plec" Johansson at The Panic Room Studio.

European fans of the band are in for a treat, because Darker Half will support Geoff Tate live on selected dates in April, along with Demonhead. Further album details as well as the new digital single will be revealed soon.
