SHARON OSBOURNE Comments On OZZY's Latest Tour Cancelation: 'Fans Are Behind Him'
 Sharon Osbourne has commented on the cancelation of Ozzy Osbourne's 2020 North American tour. The trek was scrapped on Monday (February 17) to allow her husband to continue to recover from various health issues. This decision was made months in advance to accommodate fans who've been holding tickets for rescheduled shows.
Speaking on her daytime TV show "The Talk", Sharon said (see video below): "We spoke to the doctor who Ozzy is going to see in Switzerland. And he looked at Ozzy's itinerary, and he said, 'You know you're gonna be here a while.' And we're, like, Yeah, two weeks. That's fine.' And he's, like, 'No. Maybe up to eight.' So, I'm, like, okay, 'Cancel that. See ya.'"
She continued: "The treatment that he has builds up and builds up. He can't just do it and leave. So we have to stay there a while."
Asked what the fans' reaction has been like to the latest cancelation, Sharon — who is now sporting platinum white hair after abandoning her trademark dyed-red look — said: "I went online and I thought, 'Oh, lord. He's gonna get so much flak for doing this again and again and again. And those fans are behind him."
Ozzy's new album, "Ordinary Man", comes out February 21. He plans to fulfill his promotional obligations for that, before heading to Europe for additional treatments.
Ozzy, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, publicly announced his diagnosis last month, but was actually diagnosed back in 2003.
When the latest tour cancelation was announced, Ozzy said in a press release: "I'm so thankful that everyone has been patient because I've had a shit year. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get to Switzerland for treatment until April and the treatment takes six [to] eight weeks."

Official RONNIE JAMES DIO Documentary Coming From BMG: More Details Revealed
 BMG has announced its next feature-length film will be the first-ever, career-spanning documentary on the life and times of legendary rock icon Ronnie James Dio. It is the first documentary about Dio to be fully authorized by the artist's estate. BMG is both financier and executive producer of the film, with all rights available worldwide.
The upcoming documentary is the latest project in BMG's fast-growing line of music-related films and television projects including the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival selections "David Crosby: Remember My Name" — recently Grammy-nominated for "Best Music Film" — and the Joan Jett documentary "Bad Reputation"; "The Show's The Thing", a film about legendary concert promoters and the early days of the live music business; "Rudeboy: The Story Of Trojan Records"; and "Echo In The Canyon", one of the top-grossing documentaries of 2019.
Currently in production, the as-yet-untitled film will be the definitive Ronnie James Dio documentary, incorporating never-before-seen archival footage and photos from his personal archives. The film will offer intimate scenes with his closest peers, friends and family as they bring us inside the life of one of rock and roll's true heroes. The film is financed solely by BMG and will be helmed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton ("Framing John DeLorean", "Believer", "Last Days Here"), produced by Don Argott and Sheena Joyce for 9.14 Pictures, and executive produced by Wendy Dio, wife and longtime manager of Ronnie James Dio, for Niji Productions and Kathy Rivkin Daum for BMG.
Ronnie James Dio's story transcends the standard rock documentary. Set against the backdrop of Dio's unfinished autobiography — half-finished by Ronnie before his untimely death from stomach cancer in 2010 — the film will chronicle the inspiring journey of his life, love, and storied career. Whether playing sold-out stadiums or battling illness, his powerful voice and gentle heart have had a profound influence on his family, friends, and fans around the world.
Wendy Dio said: "I am very excited to be working with BMG on Ronnie's long-awaited documentary. Ronnie loved his fans and I hope they will enjoy this trip through Ronnie's life."

Last year, Wendy Dio told The Metal Voice that the upcoming documentary will feature interviews with "all the people close to Ronnie, people that played with Ronnie or were influenced by Ronnie and also his childhood years and going all the way through his time with ELF, with RAINBOW, with BLACK SABBATH." She went on to say that she had "so much footage — stuff that people have never seen. I've got some Super 8 stuff. I found a whole huge box of stuff — stuff from his childhood, stuff from the RAINBOW days, behind-the-scenes stuff.
"A lot of these Super 8s were at Ronnie's parents' house, and when they passed away, Ronnie and I went there and took a bunch of stuff — we found a bunch of Super 8s — but we haven't looked at them yet, so we don't know what's on them," she laughed. "Hopefully some surprises..."
Wendy went on to say that she is hoping that the documentary will receive a theatrical release before being made available on various streaming platforms.
Asked about the possibility of a Ronnie James Dio biopic seeing the light of day at some point, Wendy told The Metal Voice: "No, I don't wanna do a biopic. Nobody could play Ronnie, I don't think. I don't think so. I'd like to do a straightforward documentary of Ronnie's life, with lots of footage of Ronnie. I've got so many interviews that Ronnie did and so much stuff that I'd really like to just keep it very, very natural."
Best known for his work with BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and DIO, Ronnie James Dio passed away of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010 at the age of 67. A few months after his death, MTV Books announced plans to release his memoir, which at the time was going to be called "Rainbow In The Dark: The Autobiography Of Ronnie James Dio".
Wendy is currently working with legendary rock journalist Mick Wall on the long-awaited autobiography of the heavy metal master.
Dio was renowned throughout the world as one of the greatest and most influential vocalists in heavy metal history. The singer, who was recording and touring with BLACK SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN & HELL prior to his illness, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in late 2009. He underwent chemotherapy and made what is now his final public appearance in April 2010 at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles.

TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Is 'Really Excited' About His New Band With K.K. DOWNING
 Tim "Ripper" Owens says that he is "looking forward to finishing" the "killer" debut album from KK'S PRIEST, his new collaboration with founding JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing and ex-PRIEST drummer Les Binks. The band, which will pay homage to Downing's past, is rounded out by guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE) and bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX).
When the formation of KK'S PRIEST was first announced on Tueday (February 18), Owens took to his Facebook to write: "I'm really excited about this, and the demand for it was simply amazing! It sure will be nice to make the real fans of hard rock and heavy metal music and the real JUDAS PRIEST fans happy! This is gonna rock."
As for the upcoming LP, Owens said: "I'm looking forward to finishing this killer new CD."
KK'S PRIEST's debut album will be released via Explorer1 Music Group. The group will also play select shows later this year to mark the 50th anniversary of PRIEST and Downing's career as a founding member. KK'S PRIEST's setlist will consist of PRIEST classics and new songs.
Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.
Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. He was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.
Downing, Binks and Owens performed a full-length set of PRIEST classics with MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson in November in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. Joining them on second guitar was Mills of HOSTILE, the British metal band whose two albums, "Eve Of Destruction" and "The New World Disorder", were both produced by Downing.
Binks played drums on PRIEST's "Stained Class", "Hell Bent For Leather" (released as "Killing Machine" in the United Kingdom) and "Unleashed In The East" albums.
Downing stated about his new group: "Forging ahead with KK'S PRIEST was not only inevitable but essential for me to perform and deliver everything that is expected from me and KK'S PRIEST," Downing said in a statement. "Due to the massive demand and overwhelming support from fans around the world, I feel this is where I belong, and a set combining the true, classic songs and sound of PRIEST, together with great, newly forged metal tracks, is what fans can expect when KK'S PRIEST is taking to stages."

RAIDER Premier "Bound By No Fate" Music Video
 Death/thrash outfit, Raider, hailing from Waterloo, Canada is releasing their full-length album, Guardian Of The Fire, on March 20. The eight-track LP is a rush of E-standard mayhem, thrash overtones, and blackened vocals.
Comparing it to the 2018 EP Urge To Kill, Raider has this to say: “We brought back a lot of familiar elements but added so much more. Guardian Of The Fire is more diverse, more aggressive, and is frankly just going to hit way harder. We’re stoked to see what our fans and future fans think of these new tunes!”
The band set out with a goal of making this record to be an absolute assault from beginning to end and their first single, "Bound By No Fate" is meant to kick down the gate and get that message across. They go into detail: “This song is meant to be a barrage from beginning to end. It’s about forging your own path in spite of all the overwhelming evidence that your path is chosen for you. It’s about not settling for the predetermined life that would have you playing puppet in someone else’s show. It is an affirmation that we should forge our own way in this world - in spite of the overwhelming odds against us.”
In the veins of Sepultura, Annihilator, and Skeletonwitch, Raider is one of the underground thrash/death bands to keep an eye on in 2020. Watch their music video for "Bound By No Fate" below.

Listen To New OZZY OSBOURNE Song 'It's A Raid' Featuring POST MALONE
 Ozzy Osbourne's new song "It's A Raid" can be streamed below. The track is the legendary heavy metal singer's a second collaboration with Post Malone, following Ozzy's joint appearance with the rapper on the song "Take What You Want".
"It's A Raid" and "Take What You Want" both appear on Ozzy's new album, "Ordinary Man", which will be released is this Friday (February 21). "It's A Raid" is the second-to-last song on the LP, with "Take What You Want" serving as the album's closer.
"Ordinary Man" was produced by Andrew Watt, who has also produced Malone and brought the two artists together. Watt also played guitar on Ozzy's new LP, co-writing and performing the music with GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith.
"It was a lot of fun to do though it's a lot different from my other albums," Ozzy said. "We recorded it quickly, which I haven't done since the first BLACK SABBATH album. This made it a different process, which I actually enjoyed."
Beyond the core band, "Ordinary Man" features a who's-who of Ozzy friends and collaborators including Elton John and Tom Morello.
"It all just came together," Ozzy explains of the guest stars. "Slash is a dear friend of mine, as is Elton. When I was writing 'Ordinary Man', it reminded me of an old Elton song and I said to Sharon, 'I wonder if he would sing on it?' We asked, and lo and behold, he agreed and sings and play piano on the song."
"Ordinary Man" will be available as a standard CD, deluxe CD, black vinyl, deluxe gatefold swirl color vinyl, picture disc and digital album. In addition, all physical copies of the album will include a unique code that will allow the purchaser to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of over 300 Ozzy prizes.

FLAT EARTH Feat. Former HIM And AMORPHIS Members: New Single 'Draining By Your Flame' Due In March
 FLAT EARTH, the new band featuring former HIM members Mikko "Linde" Lindström (guitar) and Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen (drums) alongside ex-AMORPHIS bassist Niclas Etelävuori and POLANSKI singer Anttoni "Anthony" Pikkarainen, will release a new single, "Draining By Your Flame", on March 23. The song is taken from FLAT EARTH's upcoming second album, due in the fall.
According to a press release, FLAT EARTH "produces heavy riffs, blasting beats and cinematic chords that combine to create an unforgiving, passionate, and dynamic sound." The band's debut single, "Blame", premiered on Radio Rock in 2018, immediately gaining popularity throughout Finland and the rest of Europe. "Cyanide" followed a short time later, gaining public recognition and earning FLAT EARTH a spot as the support act for ALICE IN CHAINS in Helsinki.
FLAT EARTH's debut album, "None For One", was released in November 2018 via Drakkar Entertainment in Europe (excluding Finland, where the effort was made available through the band's own label Suur Etikett). The disc was recorded at Finnvox in Helsinki with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, who has previously worked with HIM, AMORPHIS, THE 69 EYES and APOCALYPTICA, among others.
In the beginning of 2019, FLAT EARTH entered the studio to record the follow-up to "None For One". The new disc was mixed by legendary producer Tim Palmer.
FLAT EARTH was formed after Etelavuori fell out with the manager of AMORPHIS and exited the latter band. Suddenly, Niclas was left stranded. He decided to show the world that he still had a lot to give, so he started looking for possible bandmates.
Niclas explained: "After over two decades playing with bands, I was at a point thinking that maybe I start doing something else. But then I knew I had these songs on my hard drive still, and nothing was done with them. And I just wanted to get rid of them and see what happens. But then it kind of took over and I started to focus more on that."
Linde first sprang to mind, even though he still had his hands full with HIM at that time. Nevertheless, the two of them kept meeting regularly, and started working on ideas for new songs. Getting Anthony on board provided additional inspiration. And when their old bandmate Karppinen finally joined on drums, the group's lineup was completed.
While Linde was busy playing the States and Europe on HIM's farewell tour, the remaining trio spent their time recording drums to seven pilot demos that had previously been taped in Niclas's basement studio. Gas brought along two of his own songs, and Anthony composed a new track for the band. Linde found an old song of his he had first fleshed out when he was only 13. The rest of the tracks were Niclas's ideas mainly, treated to the band's arrangements, with Anthony providing both the vocal melodies, as well as the lyrics. The basic structure for the first album was ready.
Linde remembered: "Our common friend, who's been helping us get this band off the ground, recommended a guy named Anttoni 'Anthony' Pikkarainen, who had been singing in a band named POLANSKI. The band had made a record, and after we'd listened to it, we had to set up a meeting immediately."

EPICA And APOCALYPTICA To Team Up For Fall 2020 'Epic Apocalypse' European Tour
 This fall, Dutch symphonic titans EPICA and Finnish cello masters APOCALYPTICA will join forces for the "Epic Apocalypse Tour". The tour comes in support of EPICA's upcoming album, which will be released later this year. Support on all dates will be provided by Helsinki prog metallers WHEEL.

Watch OZZY OSBOURNE Play 'What's In The Box?' With FaZe Clan

Video Premiere: JOE SATRIANI's 'Nineteen Eighty'
 Joe Satriani's new video for "Nineteen Eighty", the first single from his forthcoming studio album, "Shapeshifting", can be seen below. The clip was shot and directed by Satriani's son, ZZ Satriani, who also filmed, edited, directed and produced the critically acclaimed documentary film "Beyond The Supernova" in addition to work with Sammy Hagar. Set in a soundstage as well as featuring clips from the new album's recording session, the video conveys the nostalgic feelings for the retro sounds of the song. "Nineteen Eighty" finds Satriani spiritually revisiting the time period when he was working with his first band, THE SQUARES. The future guitar hero would have to wait for his time, and the world came to know his name less than a decade later.
"The year that 'American Gigolo', 'The Shining', 'Raging Bull' and 'Caddyshack' came out, I just wanted to rock. 'Nineteen Eighty' is my high-energy throwback instrumental soundtrack to that year," explains Satriani. He recalls that in those early days, they "dialed back the guitar solos and histrionics to try to create a cooler new wave vibe." Now decades removed from those early goals, Satriani was free to go forward and recapture what was on his mind in 1980.
Set for release on April 10 via Sony Music/Legacy Recordings, "Shapeshifting" was co-produced by Satriani and Jim Scott (FOO FIGHTERS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS) with longtime associate John Cuniberti on board handling the mastering duties. Satriani enlisted a wide range of collaborators, both old and new, to help him bring the songs to life. Legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Fogerty), bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and keyboardist Eric Caudieux were the core musicians on the new album, with additional contributions coming from Lisa Coleman (THE REVOLUTION) and Christopher Guest.

Watch PEARL JAM's Animated Video For 'Superblood Wolfmoon'
 PEARL JAM has unveiled the music video for its new single "Superblood Wolfmoon". The song is the latest single to be released from the group's anxiously awaited new album, "Gigaton", arriving March 27 via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records.
PEARL JAM teamed up with D.I.Y. animator Keith Ross — renowned for his homegrown @TinyConcert Instagram channel. The channel has become popular for "bite-sized animated music videos" drawn with a ballpoint pen and harnessing the punk energy and imagination of the songs.
Popular for animating excerpts of songs, this marks the first time Keith delivered a video that runs the entire duration of a track. The black-and-white visual intercuts a stunning vision of the moon with hand-drawn clips of the band performing. The animated counterparts capture each respective member's spirit as the track reflects the adventurous and arresting spirit of "Superblood Wolfmoon".
Produced by Josh Evans and PEARL JAM, "Gigaton" marks the band's first studio album since Grammy Award-winning "Lightning Bolt", which was released on October 15, 2013.

In support of "Gigaton", PEARL JAM will embark on their first leg of North American tour dates in March and April. The 16-date tour kicks off on March 18 in Toronto, hits the "Fabulous" Forum on April 15 and April 16, and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18 and April 19.
PEARL JAM's North American tour is in addition to the band's previously announced European summer tour.

ROGER WATERS: Trump Is a “Mass Destroyer of Everything That Any of Us Might Love”
 Roger Waters’ upcoming North American tour coincides with the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, and that’s not by accident. Waters’ “This Is Not a Drill Tour” promises to be his most political outing to date, because “as the clock ticks faster and faster and faster down to extinction, it seemed like a good thing to make a fuss about it… To be blunt, we need to change the way we organize ourselves as a human race or die.”
Waters expanded on those sentiments during a screening of his concert film Us + Them in New York on Tuesday night, as Rolling Stone points out. When the moderator, BMG’s John Loeffler, commented that he “was equally moved [in the film] just to see kids all over the world getting the message that they’re not alone,” Waters said was the case everywhere, except America.
“Funnily enough, they are [connecting to that message], but unfortunately not fucking here,” he said (via Rolling Stone). “Because if they were, you wouldn’t have Donald Trump as a president, you wouldn’t be having all this nonsense with the Democratic primaries, with them trying to destroy the only candidate who can possibly win against Donald Trump, [Bernie] Sanders.”
From there, Waters waxed despair on the sad state of affairs of which America currently finds itself in.
“We’re living here in a fool’s hell,” Waters remarked. “The United States of America is not a fool’s paradise; it’s a fool’s hell. And watching [the film], it reminded me that the great battle is the battle between propaganda and love. And propaganda is winning. And sadly, the buttons of the propaganda machine are being pushed by people who are fucking sick. These sick, sociopathic fuckers, all of them, every single one of them. Believe it or not, Donald Trump is somewhere down here, floundering around in the muddy water at the bottom of the oligarchic pool.”
“And this is a man who has failed at fucking everything in his life except becoming the biggest … tyrant and mass murderer and mass destroyer of everything that any of us might love or cherish in the whole [world], only because he has the power,” Watters added. “Unfortunately, he has his finger on the button on it, and he’s right. In ‘Pigs,’ when we put up that he has a bigger button and it works, it does. And it’s working all over the world, murdering brown people for profit.”

Ex-SCORPIONS Drummer JAMES KOTTAK Praises PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP For Opening DAYTONA 500: 'This Is America'
 Former SCORPIONS and current KINGDOM COME drummer James Kottak has praised President Donald Trump for becoming only the second president ever to attend NASCAR's Daytona 500.
Earlier today (Sunday, February 16), Trump led drivers around the 2.5-mile tri-oval in his "Beast," the presidential limo, and gave a short, non-political speech.
Kottak, who frequently tweets in support of Trump's policies, took to the social media platform to write: "Trump kicks off Daytona 500 YES! THIS is America!"
James's comments came a day after the drummer slammed former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and businessman Tom Steyer for reportedly collectively spending $260 million on campaign advertisements. Their rivals in the Democratic presidential race have collectively spent $222 million.
On Saturday, Kottak tweeted: "Yeah, instead of spending $50 million plus on TV ads, Bloomburg [sic] and Steyer couldv've givin $1000.00 to many peeps..."
In recent months, Kottak has repeatedly used Twitter as a way to voice his controversial views. In early November, he opined that "all law enforcement should be men." In September, he raised eyebrows when he questioned whether climate change is real, writing in a series of since-deleted tweets: "Tell me when one time you have seen 'killed from climate change' or 'death from second hand smoke' appeared on a gravestone....and I am a total anti smoker... it's all b s"
Back in July, he angered some people on the social media platform when he wrote that "anyone against America is a socialist communist asshole." The unusual Independence Day greetings came after the musician wished his 18 thousand followers a happy holiday on Twitter.
"Happy Fourth.... Trump rules!" the 57-year-old musician wrote, adding in a separate tweet: "Any one against America is a socialist communist a hole ."
In June, Kottak, who calls himself a "news political junkie" on Twitter, made BLABBERMOUTH.NET headlines when he said that America should take care of its "homeless problem" before accepting any more "outsiders."
Kottak has spent much of the last year and a half touring with the reunited KINGDOM COME, also featuring guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier, bassist Johnny B. Frank and singer Keith St. John (formerly of MONTROSE and LYNCH MOB).
In September 2016, Kottak was dismissed from SCORPIONS during his well-publicized battle with alcoholism and was replaced by former MOTÖRHEAD member Mikkey Dee.
SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs later said that he and his bandmates "had to make" the decision to fire Kottak, explaining that they gave the drummer "all the chances" to get better. "We reached the point — or he reached the point — where it was just not worth it," Jabs said.

Ex-THE BLACK CROWES Drummer STEVE GORMAN Looks Back On How NAPSTER Changed The Music Industry
 In a new interview with 98.1 The Max, former THE BLACK CROWES drummer Steve Gorman recalled the first time he found our about Napster, the pioneering file-sharing service which unleashed piracy on the record business and began the cataclysm that caused worldwide revenues to decline.
He said (see video below): "THE BLACK CROWES came out at the last gasp of the old industry, the business. But then what we realized was, well, every two or three years, it always changed. There wasn't the tech component, but as far as how things operated, every realm is evolving at all times. Look at radio, look at medicine — look at anything. And so the music industry, it's easy to say, 'Well, the '90s were cool, because of this.' But within that, it was changing — just the shifts of what was cool change, not to mention what happens behind the scenes.
"I remember the first time I ever heard the word 'Napster,'" he continued. "There was a band conference call. I'm at my brother's house in Baltimore. I go in and take the call, and our manager, Pete [Angelus], and the band, we're all talking about, 'Okay, we've got a checklist. Let's go down these things. This. This. This.' And he goes, 'Oh, by the way, I wanna tell you something. There's this thing called Napster. Has anybody heard of it?' We're all, like, 'No.' He goes, 'Well, okay, there's files online of songs.' And we're, like, 'What does that mean? What do you mean 'a file online'?' We know nothing. We're all Luddites. And he goes, 'People can download songs and they're not paying for 'em.' That was like saying, 'A man's gonna go to the moon.' We're, like, 'That's not possible. What do you mean? That can't possibly work.' And he explained it to us. And I remember thinking, 'What are we gonna do about it?' And he goes, 'We're not gonna do anything about it. We're gonna adapt and realize we're entering a new realm.' And he goes, 'This is the end of the world as we know it. Things are gonna be accessible to people and they're always gonna find a way around it.' And I remember he said, 'People steal cable television. There's always a way around.' And I got off the phone and I thought, 'This is really weird.'"
Gorman added: "My nephew Jeff, who at the time was nine or 10, and he's now in an incredible band called ILLITERATE LIGHT… I went down to the basement, and he has a computer there and everything. This is in '99 or 2000 — when did Napster really hit? Around that time. And I said, 'Hey, have you ever heard of a thing called Napster?' And he goes, 'Oh, yeah.' I go, 'Do you use it?' He goes, 'Yeah.' I go, 'Show me.' And he pulls it up. And then he goes, 'These are all the songs I have.' And he was always into music. And he's just got hundreds of songs. And I go, 'You got all those in your computer. You didn't pay for 'em?' And he was, like, 'Pay for 'em?'
"It takes one second for someone to think, 'Why would I pay for it?' The minute you get something for free, you're never gonna buy it again. It's like when promoters pay for the house. It's, like, 'Hey, we put a crowd in there.' If you give someone a free ticket to a band, even if they love the show, they're not gonna buy their next one. It's just a general thing. If you get something for free once, it'll never make sense for you to pay for it — almost always.
"And I looked at that computer and I looked at him. And then he said, 'Hey, Uncle Steve, have you ever heard THE ALLMAN BROTHERS?' And I went, 'Yeah.' He goes, 'They're really good.' And right away, I had these two trains of thought, which was, 'This is egregious and theft. They should kill these people.' 'My nine-year-old nephew likes THE ALLMAN BROTHERS now? How would he have ever heard them otherwise?' And right away, I was, like, 'Well, this is a duality of thought and feeling.' It's, like, the horse is out of the barn. Forget it, man. Game over."
Gorman, who released a book, "Hard To Handle: The Life And Death Of The Black Crowes - A Memoir", in September, went on to say that he saw an almost immediate impact on his own livelihood after Napster was first introduced to the world.
"We used to get these things called royalty checks every quarter," he said. "You just go to the mailbox, and back catalog. Here's a big chunk of money. 'Cause 'Shake Your Money Maker' is still selling. And 'The Southern Harmony' is still selling. And from that phone call about Napster, I think I probably got another one, and then the next one was much smaller and then smaller, and within a year, they just stopped. It's, like, why would anyone pay for an album that's 10 years old? That immediately became insane to people."
He continued: "We're talking about tech. Look at 15 years later. This is before YouTube, this is before MySpace, this is before anybody's sharing music anywhere. You're just downloading it from one site. But you could just see, 'Okay, that's the first domino. And it's just done."
Gorman is not involved in THE BLACK CROWES' upcoming reunion tour, which is scheduled to kick off on June 17 at Austin's Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin wrap on September 19 at the Forum in L.A. Joining Chris and Rich Robinson will be a all new lineup of THE CROWES featuring EARTHLESS guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, former TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND bassist Tim Lefebvre along with ONCE AND FUTURE BAND members Joel Robinow on keyboards and Raj Ojha on drums.

OZZY OSBOURNE - Tracklisting Of New Album Ordinary Man Revealed
 Ozzy Osbourne has set Friday, February 21 as the release date for his new Ordinary Man album via Epic Records. This marks Ozzy's first new solo music in almost 10 years, as his previous studio album Scream, was released in June 2010.
Although Ordinary Man has been preceded by the release of three singles, the #1 rock track "Under The Graveyard", "Straight To Hell" featuring Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, and the title track "Ordinary Man" featuring Elton John, the complete tracklisting has only just been made available. Recorded in Los Angeles, the album features producer Andrew Watt on guitars, Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses) on bass and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums. Beyond the core band, Ordinary Man, features a who's-who of Ozzy friends and collaborators including Slash, Elton John and Post Malone.
"It all just came together," Ozzy explains of the guest stars. "Slash is a dear friend of mine, as is Elton. When I was writing 'Ordinary Man,' it reminded me of an old Elton song and I said to Sharon, 'I wonder if he would sing on it?' We asked and lo and behold, he agreed and sings and play piano on the song."

Cirith Ungol was formed in Ventura, California in the early 1970s, first appearing on the scene with their self-financed debut album, Frost And Fire, via their own Liquid Flame Records imprint in April 1981. It was obscure and arcane, mysterious and eccentric, epic and expansive, but most of all unfailingly, bone-crushingly heavy, dark and doom-filled.
Cirith Ungol went on to release two additional studio albums - King Of The Dead and One Foot In Hell - now regarded as stone-cold classics. However, by the early 1990s, the musical climate was shifting away from traditional metal. The band was plagued with lineup instability and then came an unsatisfying studio experience during the recording of the 4th full-length album, Paradise Lost, that left them profoundly disappointed. Finally, after years of frustration took their toll, Cirith Ungol was laid to rest in May 1992.
As the years passed, the fervent clamor for Cirith Ungol's return would not be silenced. Then, in late 2015, the sleeping giant awakened. The quartet of drummer Robert Garven, vocalist Tim Baker, and guitarists Greg Lindstrom and Jim Barraza began to knock the rust off and rediscover the magic. With Michael "Flint" Vujea unavailable to rejoin them on bass, Cirith Ungol recruited Night Demon bassist Jarvis Leatherby to fill that slot. As a seasoned musician, lifelong fan, and one of the driving forces to reanimate Cirith Ungol, Leatherby was the logical choice.
On October 8, 2016, Cirith Ungol officially returned to the stage by headlining the Frost and Fire II festival at the Majestic Ventura Theater, playing to a packed house of metal fans and friends who had converged in the band's hometown of Ventura, California to witness the Kings Of The Dead rise from the grave. In the ensuing years, Cirith Ungol have held fast to their objective to bring their music to as many fans around the world as possible, performing select high-profile festival gigs spanning North America, Europe and South America.
Now, as their resurrection enters its fifth year, the band proudly presents Forever Black: a classic Cirith Ungol album in every sense of the word. The trademark dark and foreboding riffs, pounding rhythms, and soul-searing vocal attack are instantly recognizable as the Kings of the Dead. Simply put, Forever Black is a testament to Cirith Ungol's continuing vitality and enduring primacy in the classic metal pantheon, more than four decades after the band's inception.

 Swedish melodic power metal force, Bloodbound, returns a with a very special release - which is dedicated to its ever-growing fanbase.
Titled Bloodheads United, this new mini LP (which will be available as 10” white vinyl) contains four exclusive live tracks - all recorded at Bang Your Head festival 2017 - and on top of that, the brand new studio recording, “Bloodheads United”, which is a true hymn dedicated to the Bloodbound fans who kept supporting the band over all these years.
“Our fanclub was named “bloodheads”, that’s why it was obvious for us to include this into the song’s title. Also, it was the easiest way to show our gratitude and appreciation to those who brought us where we are today - our fans!,” Bloodbound keyboardist Fredrik Bergh states. “All five tracks are exclusively available on this mini LP, which comes as 10” white vinyl only and is limited to 500 units. KHYMERA Feat. DENNIS WARD Streaming New Song "The First Time"
 Frontiers Music Srl recently announced the release of Khymera's new album, Master Of Illusions, on March 6. Pre-order the album here, and listen to the song "The First Time", below.
While Khymera started out as an alliance between Italian producer/musician, Daniele Liverani and then Kansas singer Steve Walsh, it developed into a regular musical project when bassist and producer Dennis Ward (Magnum, ex-Pink Cream 69) entered the fold.
While known as a bassist, Dennis always sang background vocals with his bands, so he was more than ready and willing to take over the lead vocals on the Khymera albums A New Promise, The Greatest Wonder, and The Grand Design. While Khymera has been on hiatus for some time, Dennis is ready to come back with a new album, Master Of Illusions, which comes about four years after the release of the last album, The Greatest Wonder.
"I started writing in 2017," says Dennis. "It was a slow process. I first tried to collaborate with a pair of songwriters but it did not work out. I was actually having a very hard time trying to write the songs I was looking for. Fortunately, I was offered one song from Michael Palace that became the song 'After All This Time' and shortly after I collaborated with Pete Newdeck (Drums), Michael Klein (Guitars), Eric Ragno (Drums), and Jean Funes (Silent Tiger). Then everything fell into place pretty quickly. I was able to finalise melodies and lyrics and complete the recordings."
Musically, the new album very much follows the logical progression of the musical path that was started when Dennis joined the project. Master Of Illusions is a strong, extremely melodic release, which showcases the fantastic vocal abilities of Dennis and highlights his great skills as a songwriter and producer.
"One of my personal favourites is 'Rhythm Of My Life'," continues Dennis. "Not only because I like it, but because it was the last song I wrote. The lyrics are kind of summing of my life routine and my work as an artist and music producer and how I believe that no matter how stuck one can get if you just allow it things to happen they will, hence the song 'Just Let It Happen' which is another favourite not only because of the lyrics, but because of the mesmerizing atmospheric soundscape in the background. I had fun writing and playing that one. 'Paradise' is another favourite because I literally had the whole song written, including most of the lyric, in less than a work day. I think it has a catchy chorus and a good message."
Khymera still offers one of the most shining examples of what great European melodic rock is all about: crystal clear production, soaring vocals, killer musicianship and songwriting that reminds fans of the heydays of the genre when bands like Giuffria, Icon, and Signal roamed the Earth.

HELLOWEEN Release Official Live Video For "Perfect Gentleman"
 Helloween have released the new video below, featuring a performance of the Master Of The Ring album classic, "Perfect Gentleman", taken from United Alive.
The new, yet to be named Helloween record will see the boys going “back to the roots,” with the band recording fully analogue and Dani Löble drumming on Ingo Schwichtenberg’s original drum kit, as used in the legendary Keeper Of The Seven Keys recordings.
In the video below, Dani Löble sends an update from the studio. As the drum recordings are finished now, the band is working on guitars, bass and vocals in various studios in Hamburg and Tenerife.

Immediately following the massive Brazil tour with the Scorpions and Iron Maiden, the Pumpkins United line-up entered the H.O.M.E. Studios in Hamburg (where everything started in 1984) to work on brand new song material. The same recording console used for albums such as Master Of The Rings, Time Of The Oath or Better Than Raw is now being used to record a new legendary studio album - analogue and deliberately "back to the roots."
With Michael Kiske, Kai Hansen and Dani Löble drumming on Ingo Schwichtenberg's original kit, one thing is for sure: a stronger Helloween vibe won't be possible. With United power, the new album will slam down our door end of August / beginning of September 2020 - produced by Charlie Bauerfeind and Dennis Ward, who are likewise excited about the quality song material they have on offer from the band.

It's official: The United Alive World Tour Part II is coming! The ultimate Helloween party will continue and there are a million reasons to attend again. Besides the full-speed hit rollercoaster carrying the fans through three decades, the brand new album (yet to be named) will be presented live for the very first time.
In September 2020, the legendary United line-up will be unleashed again: stronger, with new song material and a ton of horsepower - simply the ultimate United Alive World Tour Part II.

OUR DARK DOMAINS - MORGANA LEFAY Vocalist CHARLES RYTKÖNEN Emerges In New Project; Debut EP Out Now
 Our Dark Domains has released their debut EP. The tracks featured on the EP were intended for thrash act Morgana Lefay, but never materialized. Featuring Charles Rytkönen (Cibola Junction & Morgana Leafy) and Tomas Andersson (Freevil, Denata & Seance), Rytkönen dug up old recordings written by Tony Eriksson (Morgana Lefay).
Rytkönen asked Eriksson for permission to use the songs and Rytkönen teamed up with Andersson to nail out the songs and record them.
Rytkönen and Andersson worked together with Mats E. Eriksson for his project Primoridal Rigor Mortis and Our Dark Domains is their new project.

OMEGA INFINITY Share New Single “Jupiter” Featuring VALBORG's CHRISTIAN KOLF

STONE SOUR Releases Demo Version Of 'Take A Number' Song
 STONE SOUR has released a demo version of the song "Take A Number". The original track appeared on the band's self-titled debut album, which came out in 2002.
In a statement accompanying the YouTube release of the "Take A Number" demo, STONE SOUR guitarist Josh Rand wrote: "When we were trying to figure out what songs to put on the self titled album, 'Take A Number' kept coming up. This is the original recording from 1996 with Shawn [Economaki, bass] playing the guitar solo."
Rand recently said that he has "no idea" when STONE SOUR will release a new studio album. Asked in an interview with Guitar World if the band has started working yet on a follow-up to 2017's "Hydrograd", Rand replied: "To be honest, the band is on hiatus right now with no timetable on a return. It's a mixture of needing a break, plus Corey wants to do a solo album, so I don't know when there will be new STONE SOUR music."
Rand hinted that the band will release something next summer which he can't talk about yet, but also told The Pulse Of Radio he's working on another project to keep fans happy during the hiatus. "I archive like everything that we've done, so starting at the top of [2020], every week I'm going to release a demo or an alternate version of a song, starting from the very beginning. And then throughout the entire year will get us up to 'Hydrograd'. So I'm pretty excited about that."
STONE SOUR has been off the road and out of sight since completing the touring cycle for its 2017 LP "Hydrograd". Taylor has been working with SLIPKNOT since then, recording and currently touring behind that group's sixth effort, "We Are Not Your Kind". Rand is currently promoting STONE SOUR's new live album, "Hello, You Bastards: Live In Reno", which came out on December 13.
Taylor also recently told WhatCulture that he has already written 26 songs for his long-in-the-works solo album, which he has hinted at recording over the years. | +4 | |

Keyboard Legend RICK WAKEMAN Returns To Prog On New Album 'The Red Planet'
 Keyboard legend Rick Wakeman & THE ENGLISH ROCK ENSEMBLE will release "The Red Planet" on April 3. The album features eight newly composed pieces, specially for this project, and harks back to Wakeman's critically acclaimed debut album "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII", where there were six heavy keyboard pieces based around a central subject matter. It is a serious return to "Wakeman prog."
Rick has blown the dust off his favorite analog keyboards and has used the same formula he devised when making his legendary albums "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII" and "Criminal Record".
Upon being asked about the expectations of his prog fans who are hoping he will have shoved the "prog fader" up to 11, Rick replied: "That could be a problem.... as it's already at 14!!!"
The first 1,000 units of vinyl come in 180-gram red double vinyl, signed and numbered, in a special "pop-up" album cover. The first 2,000 units of the CD edition are signed and numbered, in a special "pop-up" CD album cover. These collector's items are sure to sell out quickly. "The Red Planet" was produced by Rick Wakeman and Erik Jordan. It is the first release on the newly formed R&D MultiMedia, which is a transatlantic partnership between music business veteran and longtime Wakeman sidekick Rob Ayling and rock journalist and producer Doug Harr.
Professional musician, keyboard player, songwriter, broadcaster and raconteur, Wakeman's career started as a much-in-demand session player, who performed on recordings by David Bowie, Elton John, Lou Reed, Al Stewart and hundreds more artists. His big break came in 1971 when he joined YES, who went on to become the most successful prog rock band in the world, but Wakeman has also always gone his own way outside the framework of that group.
In the seventies, he achieved chart-topping success with solo albums such as "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth", "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII" and "The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table", which cumulatively sold over 10 million copies in North America alone.
He has written several film scores, amongst them two for director Ken Russell ("Lisztomania" and "Crimes Of Passion") and two "Harry Palmer" movies starring Michael Caine ("Bullet To Beijing" and "Midnight In St. Petersburg"), and in the U.K., has built up an impressive reputation as a witty guest and host on shows like "Grumpy Old Men", "Countdown", "Watchdog" and the comedy cabaret show "Live At Jongleurs". His wickedly irreverent acceptance speech when YES was inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017 nearly brought the house down.
That same year, he made British chart history when his "Piano Portraits" record became the first solo piano instrumental album to enter the U.K.'s Top 10 on release — a feat he then repeated with last year's "Piano Odyssey". Both records feature tunes that have a special connection with Rick's personal musical journey and his subsequent tours, in which he performs a selection of tracks accompanied by hilarious memories and anecdotes have been instant sellouts in the U.K.

THE BLACK CROWES' CHRIS And RICH ROBINSON Launch BROTHERS OF A FEATHER Acoustic Tour In London: Video, Setlist
 THE BLACK CROWES' Chris and Rich Robinson launched a short acoustic tour under the BROTHERS OF A FEATHER banner last night (Wednesday, February 12) at Omeara in London, England.
The 13-song set included three songs from THE BLACK CROWES' "Shake Your Money Maker" album, as well as select cuts from "The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion", "Amorica", "Three Snakes and One Charm", "By Your Side", "Lions" and "Warpaint". Chris and Rich also played two covers: MANASSAS's "So Many Times" and LITTLE FEAT's "Willin'".

The BROTHERS OF A FEATHER tour will include one more show in Europe — in Amsterdam on Saturday (February 15) — before hitting the U.S. for nine additional dates.
The trek is taking place ahead of THE CROWES' tour this summer celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Shake Your Money Maker".
THE BLACK CROWES played two reunion shows in November — in West Hollywood, California and in New York City.
Joining Chris and Rich in the new BLACK CROWES lineup are EARTHLESS guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, former TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND bassist Tim Lefebvre along with ONCE AND FUTURE BAND members Joel Robinow on keyboards and Raj Ojha on drums.
THE BLACK CROWES' upcoming tour will mark Chris and Rich's first shows together since 2013. The group will perform its multi-platinum 1990 debut album in its entirety, along with a smattering of other hits and favorites.
The official tour kicks off properly on June 17 at Austin's Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin wraps on September 19 at the Forum in L.A.
Regarding the decision to enlist all-new members for THE BLACK CROWES' reunion, Chris told Rolling Stone: "That was the first thing Rich and I agreed on. We don't want anyone from the solo groups. We don't want anyone from the past." Rich added: "In order to make this work. To give Chris and I the space to…" Chris interjected: "Be here right now."
Chris told Rolling Stone the new tour will hearken back to THE BLACK CROWES' original style, explaining: "I think this is pure. We went off into a lot of things. There's no jamming. There's no extraneous stuff. This is the purest BLACK CROWES that people first [heard]. I hope we reconnect with some people who lost their way with us because of all of our other shit we were doing."
Rich spoke frankly about the obvious family politics in reuniting with his older brother, saying "No one is here to be a dick. We love this music. We're musicians. We're brothers. We love each other. We love this opportunity. Changing the context with Chris and I and all new people is a much healthier place for us."

GREAT WHITE To Reissue Long-Out-Of-Print Live Album 'Stage' On CD And Vinyl
 Multi-platinum-selling hard rock act GREAT WHITE, remembered fondly for its blockbuster singles "Once Bitten, Twice Shy", "Rock Me" and "Save Your Love", will reissue a killer double live album originally released in 1995. The album captures highlights from two shows in Southern California, one at the gone-but-not-forgotten House Of Blues in Los Angeles 1994 and one at the Celebrity Theatre in Anaheim 1994. Both shows were professionally recorded for absolutely stellar sound quality.
Vocalist Jack Russell reflects back on the shows, saying: "These were two of the best live shows the band ever recorded. They definitely captured us firing on all 8! The band has always been an exceptional band live and this album really captured the heart of what GREAT WHITE was all about. It's rare when a you have a show where you're proud of every single moment — these were two gigs that I can honestly say that about!"
For this 2020 reissue, Alan Niven, longtime manager for GUNS N' ROSES as well as GREAT WHITE, granted exclusive rights to Deadline Music, the metal imprint of Los Angeles-based indie giant Cleopatra Records. Niven proclaims: "GREAT WHITE produced a catalog of songs the breadth of which was unrivaled by their contemporaries. 'Stage' indicates both that and just how good they were live. There are no post-show overdubs on this recording. Over time, it has proven that it is what it is and it doesn't get much better than that."
The label will release a 2CD set of "Stage" packaged in a special mini-LP sleeve that fans and collectors will love. In addition, the release has been pressed on vinyl for the very first time in a double LP gatefold jacket with white vinyl. Now this epic live document can be enjoyed by turntable enthusiasts everywhere.
"Stage" will be available on all formats starting February 21, and will be followed later this year by very special acoustic album from JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE called "Once Bitten Acoustic Bytes", coming May 1.

Guitarist CHRIS SANDERS Confirms Exit From RATT
 Guitarist Chris Sanders has confirmed his exit from RATT.
Sanders joined RATT in 2018 after the departure of original axeman Warren DeMartini. He spent most of the last two years playing sporadic shows with the band's most recent lineup, which also featured singer Stephen Pearcy, bassist Juan Croucier, drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE, RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER) and guitarist Jordan Ziff (RAZER).
Two days after Metal Sludge reported a rumor that Sanders had been dismissed from the veteran hard rock act, Chris released a statement to Mike Gaube's Headbangers announcing his retirement from the music industry.
He wrote: "At the beginning of the year, I sent an email to [RATT's] management that I would not be renewing my contract for 2020. After playing music in some form for 25 years, I've retired from the industry."
Sanders's statement comes just one day after Pearcy said in a radio interview that Chris was "missing in action."
Speaking with Cameron Buchholtz of the KATT Rock 100.5 FM radio station, the singer said about Chris: He's a little M.I.A. right now, so… It's not concerning at all — it's not a big issue."
RATT has not yet announced a replacement for Sanders.
The band is rumored to be joining forces with Tom Keifer, SKID ROW and SLAUGHTER for a U.S. tour this summer, with the official announcement expected next Monday, February 24.
RATT — featuring Pearcy, Croucier and DeMartini — played a number of shows in 2017 after reforming a year earlier in the midst of a highly publiced legal battle with drummer Bobby Blotzer over the rights to the RATT name. They were joined at the gigs by ex-QUIET RIOT guitarist Carlos Cavazo, who played on RATT's last studio album, 2010's "Infestation", and drummer Jimmy DeGrasso, who previously played with Y&T, WHITE LION and MEGADETH, among others.
