KISS Manager On Upcoming Last-Ever Concert: 'We Might Bring Out All The Former Members'

Doc McGhee, who has managed KISS since 1995, spoke to Pollstar about the band's upcoming final concert, which is scheduled to take place in New York City on July 17, 2021. Asked how the show will end and if there is any truth to the rumors that KISS may bring on all the original members, Doc said: "It's going to be great. It's going to be worthy of the end of the road. It will be worthy to the 45 years of KISS, the last month for sure. We want to celebrate everybody and we might bring out all the former members. We'd like to. Nobody says we hate this guy; we hate that guy; we want everybody who wants to come out."

Last November, McGhee said that all living former members of KISS have been approached about taking part in the iconic group's last-ever gig. It will be the finale of the two-and-a-half-year "End Of The Road" world tour, which, by the time it is finished, will have taken in more than 165 dates across several continents.

In the months after KISS announced "End Of The Road", fans wondered openly if original members Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) would be involved in the tour, especially considering the apparent recent goodwill between Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and Ace. Frehley's latest album "Spaceman" — a title suggested by Simmons himself — features two songs the pair wrote together, and the duo completed a joint summer 2018 tour of Australia, after which Frehley fired his solo backing band and hired Simmons's.

McGhee said during a question-and-answer session on the ninth annual "Kiss Kruise" that KISS is open to reuniting with all former members at the final gig.

"We want to include everybody that played with KISS to celebrate the 45 years of KISS," he said. "And everybody — Vinnie Vincent and everybody else — that [has] played with KISS is part of this whole celebration of 45 years. So, we're still looking at what we're gonna do on the final show of KISS."

According to McGhee, Frehley and Criss have both "been talked to" about participating in some form. But, he acknowledged, "It's pretty difficult. When people say, 'Oh, you should bring Ace and Peter up.' How do you do that when you have two Catmen and two Spacemen? So you say, 'Okay. You don't wear makeup and you wear makeup.' And then they [Ace and Peter] go, 'Well, that was my makeup.' I don't know. So it's real hard to do, but we'll figure it out because they're very much a part of the heritage of KISS. And they're acknowledged by Gene and Paul and everybody in this room as the founding members… So. it's important to you guys [and] it's important to us. It's just a matter of the balance and we can bring it where it works for everybody and everybody is having a great time."

Back in 2018, Frehley told VintageRock.com that "the only way" he would "seriously consider" taking part in "End Of The Road" is "if I took back my make-up and costume and my character — which I designed." He added that current KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer "is not a bad guitar player, but he basically just mimics everything I wrote, and tries to imitate my persona. He's been doing it for 15 years," he said. "But the reality is I'm the original guy. And nobody can really copy the way I play guitar."

Asked if he would still consider participating in the tour if Criss was not involved, Ace said: "I think it would be great if Peter was involved. Obviously, at this point in his life, he wouldn't be able to do a two-hour show. But I can see if we worked out a situation where Peter came out at the end and did three or four songs — sang 'Beth', did 'Black Diamond' and a couple of others, I think that would be fun."

KISS's current lineup consists of original members Simmons and Stanley, alongside later band additions, Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, Criss and Frehley, KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

STRYPER Frontman's Cigar Photo Draws Ire Of Some Christian Fans

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has pushed back against criticism over a photo he posted on social media.

On Monday (February 17), Sweet took to his Instagram to share a picture of him and STRYPER bassist Perry Richardson smoking cigars, along with the following caption: "We're enjoying a long overdue day off and celebrating @pastforpresent birthday in San Antonio. I haven't smoked a good cigar in probably a year or so at least. Thank you @perryrichardson777 for this moment. Life is all about celebrating. With my love @champagnesweet1 as well? Good times...... This is what it's all about. Nest time with you @prministries"

Being that STRYPER is an openly Christian act, some of the band's fans reacted negatively to the image, with a segment of the religious faithful pointing out that the Bible contains principles showing that God does not approve of unhealthy and unclean habits and thus views smoking as a sin.

Earlier today (Tuesday, February 18), Sweet responded to the criticism, writing on Instagram: "Recently I posted a picture of @perryrichardson777 and I sharing a moment together smoking a cigar. I didn't even think of the potential backlash that it could cause and although I'm not surprised by some of the judgmental comments (I've been seeing/reading those for years), I am a little let down by those who forget that we're all flawed, we're all sinners.

"I've never claimed to be perfect and never will be. I try to love life to the fullest and enjoy moments like these. I simply thought I would share a nice moment with all of you, not realizing that it would open the flood gates.

"To be honest, I don't know how I've been able to continue doing what I do with the weight I/we have to carry sometimes. I realize that's it's strictly by the strength and grace of The Lord above.

"I put my faith in God and He sustains me. He knows my heart and my motives and that's good enough for me.

"Moral of the story? Trust God, not man. Men will always let you down. I'll keep my eyes on The Lord and NOT on the negative comments that I have to read (because I personally manage my own pages to personally stay in touch with all of you) day in and day out.

"For all the religious Pharisees out there, take a good look in the mirror and start there. You will find a lot of dirt to clean and you won't have any time to clean anyone else's;-) To all the people (certainly the majority) with pure, loving, faithful hearts - May God continue to bless you and all that you do. I'll keep on trying to be as real and as honest as I possibly can be, leaving the judgement to God above. Carry on..... Love & Respect, M"

After BLABBERMOUTH.NET first published this article, former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens weighed in on the controversy, writing on Twitter: "Hahaha. People are a hoot, Bitch and complain about everything! You do know that God loved a good cigar"

In a 2018 interview with the Detroit Free Press, Michael said that STRYPER was never fully embraced by the heavy metal and hard rock communities, largely because of the band's Christian lyrics.

"We've never been accepted by either side," he said. "The secular side, the mainstream, they've never accepted us to this day. We're probably that band that everyone's going to go to whenever there's a time to mock. We'll be the band used for that in most cases. Now on the Christian side, we've never really had the full support of the Christian side because we don't fit into their little club. We're not wearing suits and ties and going to every church and preaching."

Formed 37 years ago, STRYPER's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

STRYPER's albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen" and the band's latest effort, "God Damn Evil".

PRIMUS Announces 'A Tribute To Kings' Tour Performing RUSH's 'A Farewell To Kings' In Its Entirety

PRIMUS will pay homage to prog-rock legends RUSH this summer with "A Tribute To Kings", a cross-country tour that will feature the Bay Area trio playing RUSH's classic 1977 album "A Farewell To Kings" in its entirety, in addition to their own music.

"A little over one year ago, Ler Lalonde and I started kicking the idea around of PRIMUS performing a series of shows featuring an iconic RUSH album from our youth," says bandleader Les Claypool. "Being that 'A Farewell To Kings' was the first RUSH record I ever heard, and that it contains my all-time favorite RUSH tune, 'Cygnus X1', the choice narrowed quickly. Years ago, I had done something similar with COLONEL CLAYPOOL'S FEARLESS FLYING FROG BRIGADE, when we covered PINK FLOYD's 'Animals' in its entirety. It was an insane amount of work, but ended up being one of the most enjoyable live endeavors I've ever done. Dubbing the tour 'Primus: A Tribute To Kings', it was originally scheduled to be performed in the fall of 2019 but, when we were asked to support SLAYER on their 'Final Campaign', the 'Tribute To Kings' tour was postponed.

"Geddy, Alex and Neil had been superheroes to Larry, Herb and I in our teens, so when we all became pals while touring together in the early '90s, we were pretty delighted; partially because of the musical geek-out factor but mostly because the three guys whom we had admired so much from afar, turned out to be truly great, down-to-earth humans, and like us, a tad eccentric.

"The 'Tribute To Kings' tour will be just as it is implied, a respectful and loving tribute to three spectacular musicians, songwriters, legends and friends."

"A Tribute To Kings" kicks off in May and spans over 40 dates through August, including Bonnaroo Arts And Music Festival in Tennessee, New York City's Beacon Theatre, Lps Angeles's Greek Theatre, and a Bay Area hometown show at Berkeley's Greek Theater. WOLFMOTHER will open the entire tour with additional support from THE SWORD and BATTLES. Tickets will be available to the general public starting on Friday, February 21 at 10 a.m. local time.

ADRIAN SMITH Talks Return To IRON MAIDEN In 1999 - "I Had The Song 'Wicker Man' And Away We Went; We Just Never Looked Back"

Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith recently guested on the Talk Is Jericho podcast, hosted by Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho. Smith talks Maiden live shows from the props to the set list, shares the songs he enjoys playing most, the ones that are a bit challenging, and how Maiden adapted the music to fit their three-guitar approach when he and Bruce Dickinson rejoined the band in 1999. Smith also recounts the circumstances that brought both he and Dickinson back to Iron Maiden, the band’s reaction to Dickinson's cancer scare, and what happened when Johnny Cash turned up at an Iron Maiden soundcheck.

Smith on his return to Iron Maiden:

"Bruce approached me in the mid-'90s. He'd written some songs for his first album; it wasn't his first solo album, but around the Accident Of Birth at the time. So, I really liked what they were doing, and I just contributed a few songs and it went off from there for the next three-four-five years. Then they wanted Bruce to come back. Blaze (Bayley) was fired from the band, I was playing with Bruce, so there was something in the air about me coming back, and I thought 'Maybe I'll just do one tour or come home after set.'

If you would have asked me 10 years before, I'd say 'No, I would probably never do it....' but things change. As you get older, you get wiser. I thought it might be nice just to round it off. Again, Steve (Harris / bass) does come off with some wacky ideas that first you think are not going to work. So he suggested to the guys, 'Why don't we have three guitars?' I joined up and we went up to Portugal to write some songs, and I had the song 'Wicker Man', and so I started playing that, and away we went. And then we just never looked back, really."

Check out the episode here.

TROUBLE's Next Album Will Be 'Heavier Than Ever'

Hammerheart Records has partnered with TROUBLE to re-release the legendary doom legends' entire musical catalog, in addition to their upcoming album. This partnership that will see the distribution of the band's entire library of music that spans over three decades.

"We are very excited to be partnering with Hammerheart Records and joining their roster of bands," stated Rick Wartell, TROUBLE founder/guitarist. "Our entire back catalog of music will be made available to our fans worldwide, as well as our upcoming release scheduled for later this year."

Hammerheart and TROUBLE will reissue the full catalog with each album remastered and reworked with the respect to the original recordings. Every album will be reissued on a deluxe-2-CD edition, vinyl, music cassette, and digital offerings.

Releases will be scheduled chronologically, starting in May 2020 with the album now known as "Psalm 9", which was originally released on Metal Blade Records in 1984 and is hailed as one of the classics in doom metal.

Other TROUBLE releases will follow, including other '80s heavy classics, the '90s psychedelic era, and more recent releases, including the critically acclaimed "The Distortion Field".

A new TROUBLE album is planned for release at the end of 2020 and promises to be "heavier than ever."

EXHORDER singer Kyle Thomas, who joined TROUBLE in 2012, told "The Metal Magdalene With Jet" a year ago that the doom metal legends were in the "early stages of pre-production" for the follow-up to "The Distortion Field". He said: "This time they've actually written songs with me in mind as the singer instead of, 'These songs were written when Kory Clarke was in the band, but that didn't work out, so let's give it to Kyle and have him back-cleanup,' I guess."

WINTERSUN, STRATOVARIUS, TRACEDAWN Members Join Forces In SMACKBOUND

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the signing of SMACKBOUND to a multi-album deal.

SMACKBOUND is a metal band from Helsinki, Finland featuring the multi-talented vocalist and actress Netta Laurenne, who founded the group in 2015. Guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari (WINTERSUN) was the first to connect with Netta in the band and they were soon joined by Rolf Pilve (STRATOVARIUS, WINTERSUN) on drums, Vili Itäpelto (TRACEDAWN) on keyboards, and Tuomas Yli-Jaskari (TRACEDAWN) on bass.

"I am so happy to belong to the Frontiers family," says Laurenne. "SMACKBOUND was looking for a deal and wanted to partner with someone who shows true passion in working with us. After several months of discussions, we agreed that Frontiers was the right label for us. The journey is just beginning. Thanks for walking with us."

Soon after its formation, SMACKBOUND started crafting its own songs while simultaneously forming a cover band, RUN FOR COVER, to begin developing their live chemistry without delay. Songs came together quickly and the band debuted with a string of successful videos and singles, including "Drive It Like You Stole It", "Wall Of Silence" and "Run", which caught the attention of Frontiers A&R team, who are always on the hunt for the best emerging talent. After immediately being floored by these three songs, Frontiers reached out to the band to begin conversations, which ultimately culminated in a deal being struck. The three aforementioned singles will be included on the band's debut album, "20/20", which is expected to be released worldwide in early May.

"We wanted to make metal mixed with all the goodies we love in music, yet you can't beat the force and energy of metal. That's why we brought everything to it," says Netta. She adds about the album title: "The name reflects the message of the whole album. It's time for us all to have 20/20 vision. We wanna get to the bottom of things and cut the bullshit. We show ourselves in the good and the bad, both vulnerable and angry, and ask for honesty and integrity in return. We do this with unconditional love and by not having lost faith in the world. We call out for the truth."

"20/20" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios, produced by the band, and mixed and mastered by Jesse Vainio (SUNRISE AVENUE, APOCALYPTICA, POETS OF THE FALL).

Lineup:

Vocals: Netta Laurenne

Guitars: Teemu Mäntysaari

Drums: Rolf Pilve

Keyboards: Vili Itäpelto

Bass: Tuomas Yli-Jaskari

DERANGED Release "Necro-Bulimia Interfering Afterlife" Lyric Video

Swedish death metal veterans, Deranged, will release their new studio album, Deeds Of Ruthless Violence, on March 27 via Agonia Records. Pre-order the album here, and watch a lyric video for the first single, "Necro-Bulimia Interfering Afterlife", below.

"It's death metal like it was meant to be", says drummer and mastermind Rikard Wermén, who's been in charge of the band's steering wheel for nearly thirty years. "No gimmicks, no costumes, no stage show, no make up, no bullshit. Just straight up ruthless metal the violent and intense way."

Born in Sweden in 1991, Deranged are seasoned veterans of the death metal scene. The band's name was derived from a horror movie, and likewise horror became the main source of its artistic inspiration and lyrical expression. Contrary to its roots, Deranged distincts itself from other Swedish bands that started their journey around 1990's, and encompasses a different approach altogether, with a nod towards American death metal. Their sound is faster, technical, with several deathgrind and groove elements.

Deeds Of Ruthless Violence is Deranged's tenth studio album and first one to feature new vocalist, Johan Bergström (Visceral Bleeding). It was recorded at Berno Studio (Amon Amarth, The Crown, Witchery) in Malmö. The album's artwork keeps the same aesthetics as its predecessor, and was created by Mike Hrubovcak (Grave, Six Feet Under, Sinister).

SHAKRA Premiers "Fireline" Music Video

Swiss hard rockers, Shakra, have released a video for "Fireline", the opening track of their upcoming album, Mad World, to be released on February 28 via AFM Records. Watch below, and pre-order the album here.

For a quarter of a century, Shakra has been part of the music circus. Only someone who's been in a band before, knows how fragile and exhausting this kind of social fabric is. 25 years is a very long time and only a few acts can make this distance. Shakra made it and it doesn't look like they'll give up sometime soon. Quite the contrary.

Guitarist, Thom Blunier, points out: "I'm extremely proud and thankful, that this band is stil existing after 25 years of rock 'n' roll. Those of you who have a clue the difficulties of existing as a band know, how precious and exceptional this is. I am ready for the next 25 years!"

Tracklisting:

Watch KISS Perform 'Rock And Roll All Nite' On 'America's Got Talent: The Champions' Season Two Finale

KISS played its classic song "Rock And Roll All Nite" on the finale of season two of "America's Got Talent: The Champions" on Monday, February 17 on NBC. Video footage of the performance can be seen below.

KISS took a break from its "End Of The Road" farewell tour to appear on the program.

The band played in Fort Wayne, Indiana on February 16 and will next perform in Springfield, Missouri on February 18.

This isn't the first time KISS has appeared on "America's Got Talent". The group previously performed "Detroit Rock City" on the show finale in September 2018, after which it announced it would launch the "End Of The Road" tour.

"End Of The Road" kicked off in January 2019 in Vancouver and resumed on February 1 in Manchester, New Hampshire. The last concert of the trek will take place on July 17, 2021 in New York City.

KISS's current lineup consists of original members Paul Stanley (guitar, vocals) and Gene Simmons (bass, vocals), alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, drummer Peter Criss and lead guitarist Ace Frehley, KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

In its 46-year career, KISS has accumulated 23 gold and platinum albums — more than any other U.S. band.

CANNIBAL CORPSE Guitarist PAT O'BRIEN Photographed For First Time Since Arrest

CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist Patrick "Pat" O'Brien has been photographed for the first time since his December 2018 arrest.

Earlier today, an Independence, Kentucky-based business owner took to her Instagram to share a photo (see photo) of her with O'Brien, and included the following message: "And then this guy walked into the bar.... and we were shocked lol #cannibalcorpse #saturdayvibes"

O'Brien, who was born in Northern Kentucky, was arrested on December 10, 2018 for burglary and assaulting a police officer while his Florida home was in flames.

Fire marshals found a large cache of weapon, locked safes and potential explosive devices inside O'Brien's home, including 50 shotguns, 20 semiautomatic rifles, two Uzi-style firearms, 20 handguns and two flamethrowers. Authorities also discovered thousands of rounds as well as additional weapons.

O'Brien, who has been a member of CANNIBAL CORPSE for more than two decades, was released from Hillsborough County jail on December 14, 2018 after posting a $50,000 surety bond. Several days earlier, at a hearing, a judge told the 54-year-old musician, clad in an anti-suicide vest with his hands and ankles chained together, that he would first have to pass a drug test before he would be allowed to post bail and leave jail.

During an appearance on a June 2019 episode of "The Jasta Show", the podcast hosted by HATEBREED's Jamey Jasta, CANNIBAL CORPSE frontman George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher expressed his shock over O'Brien's arrest, saying: "I don't wanna speculate about what could have happened that night, but it could have been way worse — for him.

"When people were seeing [TV reports about] it — I think on the Tampa news, they were pretty good with him," he continued. "They just said he was one of the best guitar players in death metal in America, and in the world, and he's highly respected. And they didn't really trash him at all. And they showed him on TV."

According to Fisher, most of the CANNIBAL fans have been very supportive of Pat while he is dealing with his ordeal. "In the metal world, I think in general, 95 percent [of the people], everyone was, like, 'Get well soon,'" he said. "I didn't spend too much time reading stuff online, because that's when you get people who just wanna say nasty stuff just to be nasty."

In O'Brien's absence, CANNIBAL CORPSE completed several U.S. tours with fill-in guitarist Erik Rutan. The former MORBID ANGEL guitarist appeared live with CANNIBAL for the "Decibel Magazine Tour" and the spring 2019 U.S. leg of SLAYER's final tour alongside LAMB OF GOD and AMON AMARTH.

Fisher went on to say that he and his bandmates are looking forward to O'Brien's return to CANNIBAL CORPSE.

"We love him," he said. "We want him back. But when I saw him in the court with the vest, dude, I cried. Because we just got home from tour… We wish the best for him, and we're just waiting to see [what happens]. He's got a road ahead of him still with legal issues, and that's out of our hands. We support him 100 percent; we're behind him 100 percent."

K.K. DOWNING Joins Forces With TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS And LES BINKS In New Band KK'S PRIEST

Former JUDAS PRIEST members K.K. Downing (guitar), Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals) and Les Binks (drums) have joined forced in a new band called KK'S PRIEST. The group, which will pay homage to Downing's past the lineup, is rounded out by guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE) and bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX).

"Forging ahead with KK'S PRIEST was not only inevitable but essential for me to perform and deliver everything that is expected from me and KK'S PRIEST," Downing said in a statement. "Due to the massive demand and overwhelming support from fans around the world, I feel this is where I belong, and a set combining the true, classic songs and sound of PRIEST, together with great, newly forged metal tracks, is what fans can expect when KK'S PRIEST is taking to stages."

KK'S PRIEST is working on its debut album, to be released via Explorer1 Music Group. It will also play select shows later this year to mark the 50th anniversary of PRIEST and Downing's career as a founding member. KK'S PRIEST's setlist will consist of PRIEST classics and new songs.

KK'S PRIEST is represented exclusively by Andy Gould for Explorer1, with Jim Morewood handling the band's global bookings outside the U.S. for the K2 Agency.

Downing, Binks and Owens performed a full-length set of PRIEST classics with MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson in November in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. Joining them on second guitar was Mills of HOSTILE, the British metal band whose two albums, "Eve Of Destruction" and "The New World Disorder", were both produced by Downing.

Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. He was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.

Downing recently said that he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST about taking part in the band's upcoming 50th-anniversary tour but that their response was that they were not interested in including him in the celebrations.

In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Glenn Tipton's decision to retire from touring.

Binks played drums on PRIEST's "Stained Class", "Hell Bent For Leather" (released as "Killing Machine" in the United Kingdom) and "Unleashed In The East" albums.

Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.

SYMPHONY X Singer RUSSELL ALLEN And Ex-NIGHTWISH Frontwoman ANETTE OLZON: Listen To 'Never Die' Song

Noted progressive metal vocalists Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X, ADRENALINE MOB) and Anette Olzon (THE DARK ELEMENT, ex-NIGHTWISH) will release a collaborative album titled "Worlds Apart" on March 6 via Frontiers Music Srl. The project will be issued under the moniker ALLEN/OLZON.

Allen and acclaimed Swedish guitarist, songwriter and producer Magnus Karlsson (PRIMAL FEAR, MAGNUS KARLSSON'S FREE FALL) collaborated successfully on three critically acclaimed albums where Russell dueted with Norwegian singer Jorn Lande. After a break in their collaboration on said albums, where former STRATOVARIUS guitarist Timo Tolkki stepped in and oversaw an album, Magnus has returned to the fold, but with an exciting new twist to the formula. This time, Russell and Magnus welcome none other than the amazingly talented Olzon as Allen's vocal partner and offer up an unbelievable new duets album.

The song "Never Die", taken from "Worlds Apart", can be streamed below.

"Worlds Apart" track listing:

01. Never Die

02. Worlds Apart

03. I'll Never Leave You

04. What If I Live

05. Lost Soul

06. No Sign Of Life

07. One More Chance

08. My Enemy

09. Who You Really Are

10. Cold Inside

11. Who's Gonna Stop Me Now

Recording lineup:

Vocals - Russell Allen, Anette Olzon

Guitars, bass and keyboards - Magnus Karlsson

Drums - Anders Köllerfors

Since the end of her five-year stint with NIGHTWISH in 2012, Olzon released a solo album, 2014's "Shine", and formed THE DARK ELEMENT with former SONATA ARCTICA guitarist Jani Liimatainen. The group's self-titled debut album was released in 2017; a follow-up, "Songs The Night Sings", was released in November.

Over the past 14 years, Allen — best known as the frontman of long-running progressive metal group SYMPHONY X — has released four acclaimed collaborative albums with Norwegian singer Jørn Lande (MASTERPLAN, AVANTASIA, JORN). The first three ALLEN/LANDE releases were produced and written by Karlsson, with the fourth and most recent — 2014's "The Great Divide" — produced and written by Tolkki.

This past December, Anette commented on the upcoming LP, writing on social media: "So this is my secret project I've hinted about. To make an album with such a great and versatile singer as Russell Allen is an honor for me, and to have Magnus Karlsson making the songs and playing is also an honor."

Allen — who has toured with TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA since 2013 — was recently injured during the rehearsals for TSO's annual winter tour. He will spend much of 2020 touring with SYMPHONY X, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.

Japan's All-Female Metal Band LOVEBITES Releases New Single 'Signs Of Deliverance'

LOVEBITES, the all-female heavy metal band from Tokyo, Japan, has released a new single called "Signs Of Deliverance". The song is taken from the group's new album, "Electric Pentagram", which is due on April 24 via Red River Entertainment/BFD, in partnership with JVCKENWOOD Victor Entertainment Group and distributed by The Orchard in North America.

"'Signs Of Deliverance' is a song we were playing at shows in July last year even though it didn’t have a title yet," says guitarist Miyako. "We performed the song at the U.K. tour supporting DRAGONFORCE in November last year, as well. Listen carefully to the intro where the sounds of the string instruments are piling up together, and the guitar solo part."

The track is a fiery, fleet-fingered display of power metal mastery from the hands and minds of a quintet about to take the world by storm.

"Electric Pentagram" includes 12 new recordings and sees Finnish engineer supremoes Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila return to mixing and mastering duties, respectively. The same team responsible for working on releases from CHILDREN OF BODOM, NIGHTWISH and STRATOVARIUS, among many more. Cover art duties also sees Spanish illustrators David López Gómez and Carlos Vincente León. The pair had worked on the cover art of LOVEBITES' previous albums, as well as HELLOWEEN's 30th anniversary book "Hellbook" and single "Pumpkins United".

"We are very excited that our new album 'Electric Pentagram' will be released in the U.S. and Canada," LOVEBITES says. "This new album has made our bonds as a band stronger than ever."

Speaking on the album title, bassist Miho comments: "LOVEBITES is an electric pentagram. A pentagram is a five-pointed star consisting of five lines. It’s been an emblem that’s adorned amulets and talismans since ancient times as a symbol of protection. That's why we felt 'Electric Pentagram' is the perfect title for this album, we are five points brought together to protect heavy metal."

"Electric Pentagram" track listing:

01. Thunder Vengeance

02. Holy War

03. Golden Destination

04. Raise Some Hell

05. Today Is The Day

06. When Destinies Align

07. A Frozen Serenade

08. Dancing With The Devil

09. Signs Of Deliverance

10. Set The World On Fire

11. The Unbroken

12. Swan Song

LOVEBITES is:

Miho - Bass

Haruna - Drums

Asami - Vocals

Midori - Guitar

Miyako - Guitar And Keys

Hear PEARL JAM's New Single 'Superblood Wolfmoon'

PEARL JAM has released a new single called "Superblood Wolfmoon". The track, which can be streamed below, is taken from the band's much-anticipated eleventh studio album, "Gigaton", which is due on March 27 via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records in the U.S. Internationally, the album will be released and distributed by Universal Music Group. Produced by Josh Evans and PEARL JAM, "Gigaton" marks the band's first studio album since Grammy Award-winning "Lightning Bolt", which was released on October 15, 2013.

"I can't tell you how proud I am about this group of songs, " explains Jeff Ament. "As you know, we took our time and that benefited us taking more chances. 'Dance' was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration, mixing up the instrumentation and building a great song, and Ed writing some of my favorite words yet, around Matt's killer drum pattern. Did I mention Mike's insane guitar part and that Stone is playing bass on this one? We've opened some new doors creatively and that's exciting."

"Gigaton" track listing:

01. Who Ever Said

02. Superblood Wolfmoon

03. Dance Of The Clairvoyants

04. Quick Escape

05. Alright

06. Seven O'Clock

07. Never Destination

08. Take The Long Way

09. Buckle Up

10. Come Then Goes

11. Retrograde

12. River Cross

"Gigaton" is available for pre-order now at PearlJam.com.

"Making this record was a long journey," says Mike McCready. "It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on 'Gigaton' ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times."

"Gigaton"'s cover features Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist Paul Nicklen's photo "Ice Waterfall." Taken in Svalbard, Norway, this image features the Nordaustlandet ice cap gushing high volumes of meltwater.

In support of "Gigaton", PEARL JAM will embark on their first leg of North American tour dates in March and April. The 16-date tour kicks off on March 18 in Toronto, hits the "Fabulous" Forum on April 15 and April 16, and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18 and April 19.

PEARL JAM's North American tour is in addition to the band's previously announced European summer tour.

OPETH's MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT Suffering From 'Acute Laryngitis'; Band Cancels Three Shows On North American Tour

Swedish progressive metallers OPETH have been forced to cancel three shows on their ongoing North American tour due to acute laryngitis suffered by the band's frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt.

Åkerfeldt broke the news of the cancelation earlier today in a social media post. He wrote: "I regret to inform you that we have to cancel the following shows on the North American run: Worcester, Toronto and Montreal. The reason being 'acute laryngitis,' according to the doc.

"It all started with voice problems in Royal Oak, Michigan. I had a doctor take a look at me before that show, and even if he gave me the all-clear in terms of being free from flu symptoms and the likes, he couldn't dismiss potential problems with the vocal cords. Which indeed I had during Saturday's show. So we have a day off to rest during Sunday and arrived in sunny Worcester Monday morning to another doctor's appointment. This time the doctor advised a 3-4 day rest due to 'acute laryngitis.' We set the stage up and started getting ready for soundcheck anyways. As I was warming up my voice, it was abundantly clear that I was not going to be able to perform at the level where I want to be vocally. I sounded like a goddamn troll. And not in a good way.

"So, I'll end this rant with a massive apology to the people looking forward to tonight's event as well as to our Canadian friends. We are currently looking into postponing these cancelled shows and come back hopefully with a clean bill of vocal health and everything else. Try and make it up to you. In the meantime… I 'll watch TV. The joy!

"All ticket buyers can get a refund at their point of purchase if so desired but you can also opt to hang on to your tix as we're definitely intending to reschedule these shows and all purchased tickets will remain valid for these."

Affected dates:

Feb. 17 - Worcester, MA - Palladium

Feb. 18 - Montreal, QC - Mtelus

Feb. 19 - Toronto, ON – Rebel

OPETH is scheduled to resume its North American tour on February 21 in New York City.

The band is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "In Cauda Venenum", which was released in September via Moderbolaget / Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The disc landed at No. 13 on the U.K. chart and No. 5 on the German chart. The band's previous LP, 2016's "Sorceress", peaked at No. 11 on the U.K. chart, while 2014's "Pale Communion" entered the list at No. 14 and 2011's "Heritage" landed at No. 22.

SPIRIT ADRIFT Sign To Century Media Records

2019 was a banner year for Spirit Adrift. Their latest album, Divided By Darkness, made an undeniable impact on the landscape of heavy metal, placing high on nearly every major year-end list and receiving widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. The band’s skyrocketing trajectory continues as they sign a deal that will see their next album released by Century Media Records outside North America, while 20 Buck Spin (who released Divided By Darkness and 2017’s highly-acclaimed Curse Of Conception) handling the domestic release.

Spirit Adrift began as an outlet for multi-instrumentalist Nate Garrett, who started the band in 2015 as a studio project encompassing his love for hard rock sensibilities and multiple strains of timeless heavy metal. With the addition of permanent drummer Marcus Bryant, the band started performing live in 2017 and swiftly became a force to be reckoned with.

With Divided By Darkness, Spirit Adrift honed their riff obsessions into a mastery of all things heavy, as Garrett further evolved as a songwriter and vocalist. The record united metal fans across the spectrum, garnering a range of stylistic comparisons from classics like Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Judas Priest to modern heavy hitters like Mastodon, The Sword, and Ghost. In the live setting, Spirit Adrift have stunned audiences in the US and Europe, including multiple headlining tours and highly acclaimed sets at US rock festivals such as Migration Fest, Psycho Las Vegas, Northwest Terror Fest, Sacramento’s Aftershock, Thrasher Magazine's "Death Match" series, and the Los Angeles edition of Decibel Magazine's Metal and Beer Festival to close out 2019 (in addition to the East Coast installment of the fest back in 2018). European audiences will be able to catch the band this coming April and May as they offer direct support to fellow volume dealers, Corrosion of Conformity.

Spirit Adrift comment the signing to Century Media Records as follows:

“We’re thrilled about our new partnership with Century Media. Everyone we’ve dealt with at the label has been a pleasure to work with right out of the gate. We already feel a strong sense of mutual respect, and it’s clear the label and the band share a united vision for the future. 2020 will be a transformative period for Spirit Adrift, and Century Media is the perfect new partner to spread our music to as many people as possible. We say it every time, but we mean it every time: our new material is our strongest to date. The songs we’ve been working on encapsulate each era of the band, while experimenting even further with the limits of what we can achieve. As always, we are pushing ourselves to explore fresh ideas without abandoning our identity. As always, we are pushing the limits of our playing abilities. And as always, you can expect the unexpected. Thank you all for the continued support, and we’ll see you soon.”

Philipp Schulte, Director Century Media Records Europe, comments:

“Welcome Spirit Adrift to Century Media Records! We are stoked to be working with America’s finest export of riff-driven, straight and melodic metal. The band’s current album Divided By Darkness is a shining example for timeless, heartfelt and honest music and justly earned them worldwide praise from fans and media. Now 2020 opens another chapter with the European tour with C.O.C. taking off this spring and new music at the horizon in the second half of the year. We’re happy to be part of Spirit Adrift’s journey. This is real US metal for the new decade!”

Reissues of their records Curse Of Conception and Divided By Darkness will be released on April 24 via Century Media Records available as a ltd. Digipak and colored LP. 2020 also promises the band’s fourth full-length which will be released on Century Media in Europe and on 20 Buck Spin in North America.

Spirit Adrift will also accompany Corrosion Of Conformity on their tour across Europe in May 2020.
