ARCHON ANGEL Feat. ZAK STEVENS Streaming New Track “Twilight”

Frontiers Music Srl released Archon Angel's debut album, Fallen, on February 14. Order the album here, and listen to the song "Twilight" below.

Archon Angel was born from a meeting between producer/guitarist Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) and former Savatage, Circle II Circle, and current T.S.O. lead vocalist Zak Stevens during the making of Timo Tolkki's Avalon's Return To Eden album, of which Aldo produced and played guitar and Zak did some guest lead vocals. The two soon started talking to Frontiers about the concept of working on new music together, which was met with great enthusiasm from the label. Aldo submitted to Zak some song ideas which were reminiscent of the classic Savatage sound, the two felt the magic was there, and thus no time was wasted in getting together to craft an absolutely striking metal album. Aldo was also helped in the songwriting department by some of the most outstanding writers and musicians from the Italian rock scene including Simone Mularoni (of DGM and Sweet Oblivion) and Alessandro Del Vecchio (Aldo’s bandmate in Edge of Forever and of course Jorn, Hardline, etc.).

The album itself deals with a central character, the "Archon", who is a modern day angel figure. The idea goes back to the religious system of Gnosticism. The only difference is that we are immersing the Archon's story into modern-day times. The Archon is a medium who brings messages to God (Demiurge) from the people of Earth. The only real concept to the albums is that they simply follow the story and life and times of the modern day "Archon" and his life as he is called upon to protect the people of earth through frightening, turbulent times.

If Savatage are a favorite of yours, then Archon Angel's Fallen may well be your album of the year in 2020.

United States Army Band PERSHING'S OWN Covers RUSH’s “Time Stand Still” In Tribute To Neil Peart

On January 7th, the music industry lost a giant. Neil Peart, the drummer and lyricist for the band Rush, lost a three and and a half year battle with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Neil will forever be one of the most influential rock drummers of all time. Over Rush’s 40 year career, his drumming and thoughtful lyrics have been part of the soundtrack to millions of lives around the globe, and his passing has created a huge void.

When SFC Tim Whalen heard the news, he was shocked and saddened. As a lifelong Rush fan, he felt compelled to do something to honor Neil and the band that has meant so much in his own life. He immediately knew the song “Time Stand Still” would be the perfect choice.

SFC Whalen relfects, "The lyrics to this song have always resonated deeply with me, and they show Neil’s heart. I wanted to showcase the deep humanity he had in his writing. The song is about life moving too fast, due to both things we can control and things we can’t, and the desire to hold onto something just a little longer. This is such a universal message, whether it be children growing up too fast, a loved one dying, or a soldier leaving home wondering if they’ll ever see their family again.”

Pershing's Own is:
SFC (Sergeant First Class) Chris Rettig - Vocals
SFC Tim Whalen - Vocals
MSG (Master Sergeant) Dan Roberts - Piano
SFC Zack Pride - Bass
SFC Matthew Evans - Violin I
SSG (Staff sergeant) Patrick Lin - Violin II
MSG Holly Watters - Viola
SSG Aaron Ludwig - Cello

"It with great pride that on this, the beginning day of Yule, we in Hexenklad, present to you, our new song 'We Raise A Horn'. This song is unlike any we have done before. Not only is this one all acoustic but it also features only clean vocals, a clarinet and drums that are a mixture of shakers, tambourines, toms, djembe / hand drums and animal bones (moose and deer). There is a feeling in it, especially close to the end, of being in a drum circle, dancing around a fire, surrounded by kin. This is a song for you from us. Thank you for walking this path with us.

Our full-length second album should be finished this coming year and we look forward to having you all take a listen. We are very proud of it. In the meantime, if you haven't heard our first album, Spirit Of The Stone, it is available through CDN Records, on Bandcamp and on all major streaming services. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Until we meet again, Hail to you and Hail to your Ancestors. We raise a horn."

Voldamars on the band's 2017 debut album, Spirit Of The Stone:

"Take the depth of feeling of Falkenbach with the stylings of Hypocrisy, the folk melodies of Moonsorrow with the twin guitar blast of Dissection, the depth of emotion of Primordial with the overwhelming nature of Insomnium. This describes the sound of Hexenklad's debut album Spirit Of The Stone.

MY RUIN Release Offiicial Video For Cover Version Of "My Way"

My Ruin vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy has checked in with the following update:

"And now....we are proud to present our new video!

"I've always loved this song. Both the version Frank Sinatra recorded in 1969 and the infamous Sid Vicious version from The Great Rock "n" Roll Swindle in 1978. They are equally cool and contemplative for different reasons. I wanted to record it for reasons of my own.

Although I was inspired by both of the male artists who previously recorded it, I wanted to make it mine with a female empowerment vibe. From the spoken word intro to the screams, I love the raw in your face confrontational reality of it's feminine brutality. I think Mick Murphy captured the essence of the original but felt the same way musically as he made it a My Ruin song with his signature Southern metal heavy riffs and unique arrangement.

While band members have come and gone, at the core, My Ruin has always been the two of us. The heart and soul and we continue to remain strong. 'My Way' was the last song Mick and I recorded in Los Angeles before putting our band on our self imposed 'hiatus' and moving to Knoxville, Tennessee in 2017. In the end, it was very cathartic and emotional for both of us. We hope you enjoy the video which I created to accompany it for the debut of our new, old school covers album Rock Love & Red Lipstick, which we released on Valentines Day as a gift to you as we celebrate our 20 year Anniversary!"

Tairrie previously issued the following update:

"Rock Love & Red Lipstick features 16 ruined and remastered songs including two brand new, never before heard covers of the old school hip hop classic 'I Ain't No Joke' by Eric B & Rakim and 'My Way' which was made famous by both Frank Sinatra & Sid Vicious, which we have given a spoken word/brutal scream, heavy metal feminine twist. Those who know us and have followed our band will understand why we have chose to both cover and close the album with 'My Way' because it illustrates our journey perfectly.

Although we are still on a self imposed hiatus with no plans for touring in the near future, we just wanted to touch base and let you know we are thinking of you. We've loved, we've laughed and we've cried. We hope you will continue to support us as we follow our hearts wherever they may take us in 2020. Ride or die."

Rock Love & Red Lipstick by MY RUIN

"Slide You The Horn"
"Rid Of Me"

OZZY OSBOURNE Cancels 2020 North American 'No More Tours 2' Dates

Ozzy Osbourne's 2020 North American "No More Tours 2" has, unfortunately, been canceled to allow the legendary heavy metal singer to continue to recover from various health issues he has faced over the past year. This decision was made to accommodate fans who have been holding tickets for rescheduled shows and have been asked to change plans multiple times. Following promotional obligations for his new "Ordinary Man" album (out February 21), Osbourne will head to Europe for additional treatments.

"I'm so thankful that everyone has been patient because I've had a shit year," Osbourne said. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to get to Switzerland for treatment until April and the treatment takes six [to] eight weeks.

"I don't want to start a tour and then cancel shows at the last minute, as it's just not fair to the fans. I'd rather they get a refund now, and when I do the North American tour down the road, everyone who bought a ticket for these shows will be the first ones in line to purchase tickets at that time."

Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. All refunds, including fees, will be returned directly to the credit card used. Additionally, ticketholders who purchased "No More Tours 2" tickets will have first access to tickets when the next tour is announced.

Earlier this month, Ozzy revealed to the Los Angeles Times that his Parkinson's disease, with which he first went public in January, was actually first diagnosed back in 2003.

"I'm not dying from Parkinson's. I've been working with it most of my life," he said. "I've cheated death so many times. If tomorrow you read 'Ozzy Osbourne never woke up this morning,' you wouldn't go, 'Oh, my God!' You'd go, 'Well, it finally caught up with him.'"

Ozzy, who noted the medication he takes for tremors can cause short-term memory loss, had neck surgery to correct an old injury that he aggravated early last year, forcing him to stay off the road for all of 2019.

"It's been a pretty incredible, interesting career," he told the Los Angeles Times. "People have written me off time and time again, but I kept coming back and I'm going to come back from this.

"When? I don't know," he said. About returning to the live stage, he added: "I don't want to go back out there until I'm ready."

The BLACK SABBATH frontman's wife Sharon explained in an interview on "Good Morning America" that Ozzy has "PRKN 2, which is a form of Parkinson's. There's so many different types of Parkinson's. It's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. It's like you have a good day, a good day and then a really bad day."

Ozzy will head to Switzerland to see a specialist about his condition. He added he has been experiencing other symptoms that may or may not stem from Parkinson's, saying, "I got a numbness down this arm for the surgery; my legs keep going cold. I don't know if that's the Parkinson's or what, you know, but that's — see, that's the problem. Because they cut nerves when they did the surgery. I'd never heard of nerve pain, and it's a weird feeling."

Last month, Ozzy told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine that he thinks about death a lot, but he doesn't worry about it. "I won't be here in another 15 years or whatever, not that much longer, but I don't dwell on it," he explained. "It's gonna happen to us all.

"Am I happy now? No. I haven't got my health," he continued. "That thing knocked the shit out of me, man, but I'm still here. In fact, I worried about [death] more when I was younger than I do now. I just try to enjoy things as much as possible, even though that's so fucking hard sometimes."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Bassist On Touring With MEGADETH: 'It's Definitely Lit A Fire Under Our Rear Ends'

Prior to FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's January 23 concert in Oslo, Norway, bassist Chris Kael spoke with Eternal Terror Live. The full conversation can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the title of the band's new album, "F8" (pronounced "fate"):

Chris: "We were trying to figure out a way to tie in the number eight with it being our eighth release now. I think with all the things that have happened to us individually over the last two years — last three years, probably — it's gotten us to this point. I think all the difficulties that we were going through have led us here. It's kind of our fate to have made it through that and had to go through all that garbage that we went through to really appreciate where we're at now. That's where that album title comes from."

On touring Europe with MEGADETH:

Chris: "I was on vacation in The Phillipines when I got the call from Zoltan [Bathory, guitar]. I know that we were talking about doing some things, and it all came together while I was on vacation. Zoltan sent me a text — he's like, 'Hey, man. We're going over to Europe with MEGADETH.' I'm like, 'That's going to be awesome. We'll be able to, like, get off stage [and] I'll be able to watch MEGADETH every day, kind of relax and hang out.' He goes, 'No, no, no. We're going to be taking MEGADETH with us.' I'm like, 'MEGADETH? One of the 'Big Four'? What has happened to my life to put me here?' I'm absolutely grateful to be able to get up there and share the stage with absolute legends. It's definitely lit a fire under our rear ends. If you're going on after MEGADETH, you've got to bring your A-game. It's been good for us. We feel like we do really well [live], but when you're going on after MEGADETH, let the fire go."

On the platform that FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH provides:

Chris: "I'm very grateful that I have an opportunity to be in a band that touches people the way that we do and has that connection. It's something that's kind of happened naturally. I think people can see the genuine in us, and I think that kind of resonates to everybody. With DEATH PUNCH, you don't so much as just kind of listen to it — the fans, it's like a family. You're really part of a movement and part of that family. Growing up, I enjoyed listening to KISS. I think that we have elements in the same sense where KISS had four very different personalities within the band. You can love KISS, but you always had your own favorite member. I think that with DEATH PUNCH, we have five very distinct personalities that work well within the framework of the group. Each individual personality, as a fan you can find the one that you identify with most because they are so different. I think that works well with us as far as [the] connection goes... I'm all about the butterfly effect. You never know how one little interaction's going to spread. I love those moments. To be in a band with the platform and the audience that we have to be able to do those little things and kind of have that positivity spread throughout, that's one of the best things about being in this band."

On raising funds for veterans:

Chris: "I have a vest that I wear on stage now. Out of that, my part of the proceeds goes to the Vegas Veterans Hockey Foundation. It's a foundation in [Las] Vegas that puts together veterans through the local hockey [league]. A lot of the times when you come home and you don't have that going on anymore, you kind of lose that group interaction, so it gets them back in a team-building effort. A lot of people come back suffering from PTSD and depression and whatnot, and getting all those people together, kind of like on a mission, I guess — you're trying to win the games and whatnot — just builds team-building. We've got a big platform, and the military, the police and first-responders, they've all got the hard jobs. Our job, I basically get up there and shake my beard... Any time I get a chance to shine a light on some of the charitable causes that we believe in and back and support, I'm going to use this platform to do better."

On his sobriety:

Chris: "I went through a certain time where I wasn't dealing with things very well. I'm two years sober coming February 3, so within the last two years, you can hear it in my voice and the things I talk about now — a place of gratitude and thankfulness and awareness. I'm very present at the moment. I've found an appreciation for everything, having gone through all the work that I've had to go through and gotten rid of the drugs and alcohol. I think professionally, personally, as a band, Ivan [Moody, vocals] is also sober as well, so to have those elements of addiction and substances and everything else that comes along with that. Right now, we're all getting along. Even the other day, we had a terrible soundcheck. Ear monitors weren't working well for us; the mix was terrible. Just a terrible afternoon. Two and a half years ago, when those elements were still within the band, it could have very easily blown up into some of the stage performances [suffering]. Luckily, we don't allow those little flare-ups turn into infernos anymore. I think that's the biggest change — being clear and focused. We have a new record coming out, and you can definitely hear the clarity and the presence of mind, particularly in the level of introspection coming out of Ivan on this record."

On the perks of success:

Chris: "The schedule that we have right now has been awesome. We used to do basically three shows on, one day off, two shows on, one day off. I know I sound like I'm bitching, and I realize it's a stupid fucking problem and my life is not hard — it's really not — but we find that when we do no more than two in a row, Ivan and my voice — because I do a lot of backup vocals — our voices hold up better rather than trying to do three days in a row. Three days is starting to push it a little bit, particularly with the aggressive vocal approach that we have. We try to do that as much as possible. We're lucky enough where things are good and we're playing larger places now, so you don't have to hammer out quite so many all the time. You can kind of spread things out. Also, when you spread those things out, it gives us a chance to go see the cities that we're in, and you have the opportunity to not only be Chris Kael the band guy, but while you're out traveling around, you can be Chris Kael the human and go see things and kind of be part of the world again. I like this schedule a whole lot better — particularly in sobriety. It gives you a chance to get back to a level of appreciation about everything, and when you're able to travel the world like we're able to, you really get a sense of how small the world is and how alike all of us are."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's new album, the Kevin Churko-produced "F8", will be released February 28 via Better Noise. It marks the band's first release with new drummer Charlie Engen, who replaced Jeremy Spencer in 2018.

TESTAMENT Release First Titans Of Creation Video Trailer; ALEX SKOLNICK In His Element (Air)

The time has arrived for legendary bay area thrash metal giants Testament to unleash new thunder to the masses and reveal their thirteenth studio album: Titans Of Creation which will be released on April 3 via Nuclear Blast.

Just as the elements of this planet thrive within all living creatures, each musician in Testament represents a necessary component of this latest musical creation. The band launches their multi-part series examining each member in their respective element. Watch the first episode focusing on Alex Skolnick in his element:

The official lyric video for Testament's new track, "Night Of The Witch", can be viewed below.

Chuck Billy comments, "It has been months since the final mixing of Titans Of Creation and we are eager for fans to hear it. We feel that we put a lot into this record and at the end of the day it is a Testament record that stands on its own. We are very proud of Titans Of Creation."

"'Night Of The Witch’ uses old school lyrics about witches chanting in the moonlight and casting spells. The beauty of this song is that I worked in Eric's vocals into the chorus. I wanted to incorporate him as he does Dragonlord and this song was a perfect match. It is a heavy song and a great way to introduce everyone to Titans Of Creation".

Titans Of Creation was produced by Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson while Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios handled co-producing, recording and engineering. Andy Sneap was responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album. Eliran Kantor stepped up once again to create a new masterpiece of artwork for the cover of this release.

STEVE HARRIS's BRITISH LION Performs In Fort Lauderdale (Video)

Sonic Perspectives has uploaded fan-filmed video footage of BRITISH LION's February 15 concert at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Featured songs:

01. Lightning

02. Last Chance

03. A World Without Heaven

04. Eyes Of The Young

BRITISH LION is the side project of Steve Harris, bassist and co-founder of metal icons IRON MAIDEN.

BRITISH LION kicked off its first U.S. tour on January 18 at Ace Café in Orlando, Florida. The trek is hitting a number of cities, including San Antonio, Dallas, Memphis and Atlanta, before concluding on February 20 in New York.

BRITISH LION's second album, "The Burning", was released on January 17 in digipack CD, double gatefold vinyl and digital download formats via Explorer1 Music (E1).

BRITISH LION comprises vocalist Richard Taylor, guitarists David Hawkins and Grahame Leslie, Steve Harris on bass and keyboards and drummer Simon Dawson.

Recorded, engineered and mixed at Barnyard Studios by Tony Newton and produced by Steve Harris, "The Burning" is crammed with powerful hard rock melodies.

Asked by the Tampa Bay Times what the itch is that BRITISH LION scratches that he doesn't get in his job with MAIDEN, Harris said: "I suppose playing small clubs and being close and personal with the audience. I love playing big places as well. I enjoy them all, and I'm very lucky that I can do them all. But also, it's clubs that I never played with MAIDEN, even in Europe. There's a famous club called the Milky Way in Amsterdam, which I managed to play with BRITISH LION, but I never did that with MAIDEN. There's places now that I'm going to be playing on this [U.S.] tour that I've never played before. So it's all new ground. It's a challenge. It's nice. I like a challenge."

Regarding what his hopes are for what he can accomplish on this tour, Harris said: "There's not enough years left in me to try and do some long-term project, to try to make sure something can be successful. That's not what we're doing it for. We're just going out and having fun. It's a good live band. People should come and check it out, and have a good night out."

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of ALICE COOPER's Performance At FIRE FIGHT AUSTRALIA Concert

Professionally filmed video footage of Alice Cooper's February 16 performance at the Fire Fight Australia benefit concert in Sydney can be seen below.

The legendary rocker played a four-song set consisting of "Department of Youth", "I'm Eighteen", "Poison" and "School's Out" medleyed with PINK FLOYD's "Another Brick In The Wall".

For the last track, Cooper changed jackets to a white number with an Australian flag on his back.

Cooper recently added a number of shows to his previously announced tour with Lita Ford. Most of the newly announced dates will also feature TESLA, with BLUE ÖYSTER CULT joining the bill in Minnesota.

Alice spoke to the New Zealand radio station Bayrock about his all-new "Ol' Black Eyes Is Back" show, which is scheduled to hit Auckland's Trusts Arena on February 20 and Christchurch's Horncastle Arena on February 22.

"First of all, it's a full theatrical show," Alice said. "You know when you go to the carnival and there's that ride that's called 'The Nightmare Castle' and you get in it and you go through it. Well, that's what the stage looks like — it's 'The Nightmare Castle.' And so you can imagine what comes out of that. I can only say that there's a lot of surprises in the show, theatrically. And the music is gonna be A1+. It's the best band I've ever worked with."

Singling out guitarist Nita Strauss, Cooper said: "She's a force of nature — she really is — and one of the nicest ladies I've ever met in my life. [She] cannot wait to get on stage. Everybody in the band is like that, though; everybody in the band are best friends.

"I always tell my band one thing. I said, 'I can guarantee you three things: you're gonna get paid, you're gonna see the world, you're gonna get stitches,'" he said. "Everybody in the band has had stitches at some point. Because the swords I use on stage are not rubber. In fact, the one sword that I use on stage actually belonged to Errol Flynn. I kind of wield this… Every once in a while, if you get too close, you might get hit on the arm or the leg or someplace… It's a matter of pride. 'Did you get your stitches yet?' 'Yes, I did.' It's like your mark."

Cooper's latest release —– the six-track "Breadcrumbs" EP, described as a tribute to the garage-rock heroes of his hometown of Detroit — was released in September via earMUSIC.

In a recent interview with Consequence Of Sound, Cooper said that "Breadcrumbs" serves as preview of sorts for his next studio album, which will be released later this year.

APOCALYPTICA Joined By AMARANTHE's ELIZE RYD For 'I Don't Care' Performance In Oslo (Video)

Fan-filmed video footage of APOCALYPTICA performing the song "I Don't Care" on February 16 in Oslo, Norway, with a special guest appearance by AMARANTHE's Elize Ryd on lead vocals, can be seen below.

Released in 2008, "I Don't Care" was APOCALYPTICA's first No. 1 rock radio hit in the U.S. The track, which originally featured vocals from then-THREE DAYS GRACE frontman Adam Gontier, appeared on APOCALYPTICA's sixth studio album, "Worlds Collide".

APOCALYPTICA's latest LP, "Cell-0", came out in January via Silver Lining Music.

In support of "Cell-0", APOCALYPTICA — cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén — were the special guests for SABATON on a 15-country, 23-date European tour that kicked off on January 17 in Zurich, Switzerland and concluded in Oslo. AMARANTHE also appeared on the bill.

The recording of "Cell-0" followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way it approached the new music. The album sees APOCALYPTICA return to its roots and is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years, finding the APOCALYPTICA members challenging themselves to discover new flavors and colors in their respective instruments.

"Cell-0" was produced by APOCALYPTICA, mixed by Andrew Scheps (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, LANA DEL REY, METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki.

Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached "Cell-0" as a fully formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, APOCALYPTICA opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while traveling through that creative process.

"These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it's not always easy to point exactly what they are about," Toppinen expressed. "But I think that's also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It's also one reason why we don't want to explain the songs before they're experienced."

DREAM ON DREAMER quits

The spirit of this band has always been to create and perform music whole heartedly with all of our attention and passion. After 11 years it seems we are at a cross road where other areas of our personal lives require that care and attention to be focused. So it is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the end of the era that has been Dream on Dreamer.

We will never take for granted the incredibly rare gift that we have been blessed with, the experiences we have gained through music, the connections we have made with people and the community we have been so lucky to create and be apart of. This band has shaped us all personally in such a strong way. For all of this we feel greatly indebted to our fans.
We are so proud of the music we have created. We feel so fortunate to have such a supportive fanbase and hope you can continue to support us as we make this transition in our lives. ❤️ DOD

Ex-MORBID ANGEL Frontman DAVID VINCENT: 'I Would Argue That JOHNNY CASH Was Death Metal; He Just Didn't Know It'

Former MORBID ANGEL and current VLTIMAS vocalist David Vincent recently spoke with Metal Underground. The full conversation can be streamed below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On recording the debut VLTIMAS album together as a band:

David: "We put a lot of work into that record. We pulled out all the stops, and everybody worked very, very hard... There's no replacement for the kind of magic that you get sitting in a room with people. The sharing of ideas... It's very organic. We just banged it out and banged it out — 'Oh, that sounds great.' We just kept it in a circle, kept working and working. We're all very, very pleased with the outcome. It took a long time to get there. We had it recorded, and because we were only worried about the music, then all of a sudden, 'Oh, gee — we need artwork. We need an album cover. We need a photo shoot' — all these things that we didn't think about at all because we were only thinking about the music. That mistake won't happen again, but we were just so excited about the sound that everything else became out of sight, out of mind... We had a lot of fun making the record, even though there were some challenges that I had personally at the time, but we got it done."

On whether he'd change anything about the album if given the opportunity:

David: "When I listen to it — I don't listen to the record a lot, but we did listen to it when we arrived [for our European tour]. We rehearsed in The Netherlands because our bassist lives there, and we were done with rehearsal one day and he put the CD on. I hadn't listened to it for months, and I listened, and I'm like, 'God damn — this song's good.' He goes, 'Fucking yeah'... The good thing about it is that it's done. I think there's always something that somebody would go back and say, 'I might have been able to do this a little better,' but at some point, you have to be done. I've read another artist say this — you're never really done with your record. You give up. You could spend months on new shit, and that's not going to get it done. You have to be disciplined, get in and work every day, do the best you can and hopefully the result is something that everybody can feel proud of. I think that's where we're at."

On the band's future:

David: "This really is a priority for all of us. We already had our first writing session for the next record. It's still in its infancy. I can't say, 'It's almost done' — it's not; it's nowhere near — but I want to say we're further along on the first writing session of our second record than we were on the first writing session of our first record. We all pretty much know how each other thinks now, and it's easier to think in unison than at first when you're still exploring those things. It sounds like us. I'm not going to say it's a drastic change, but it grows. It's going to be bigger. We didn't pigeonhole ourselves on the first record. Because there's so much diversity, it lends itself to continuing with that as opposed to trying to get one very narrow sound. None of us like that."

On celebrating MORBID ANGEL's history with I AM MORBID:

David: "I spent over 30 years of my life on something, and it's very important to me. Apparently it's important to other people too, because our booking agent keeps getting calls. It's nice. It's a nice portfolio of music that has a fair amount of diversity in it, and it lets me wake up in the morning and be me another day."

On whether VLTIMAS and I AM MORBID will ever share the stage:

David: "I'd have to have people carrying all kinds of stuff. I think that'd be a little much. Maybe for a one-off, but not for a tour. That wouldn't work."

On the status of his outlaw country solo career:

David: "I have a lot of material. I just need to find the time to record it. It's a priority, but it's not a priority. Compared to VLTIMAS, it's not a priority — but it is. I have these songs and I want to do it; it's just between touring and writing, I have so much going on, and I still have to build in time to relax and spend time with my wife."

On the kinship between outlaw country and heavy metal:

David: "I would argue that Johnny Cash was death metal. He just didn't know it. He lived it. So did George Jones, David Allan Coe, Waylon Jennings... There's a big difference between Nashville pop music and real, heartfelt country."

On his forthcoming autobiography:

David: "That's another thing I've been working on for many years now. I'm ready for it to come out. It just took a while to get it right, and then it took a while to get the right publisher and set everything up and get the schedules. Everything takes time. Collecting and searching through the archives and family photos and finding old things — personal stuff. Some of it, I'd never seen before, but I somehow found it."

VLTIMAS – in which Vincent is joined by Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen (ex-MAYHEM, AURA NOIR) and Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY) — released its debut album, "Something Wicked Marches In", on March 29 via Season Of Mist.

LITA FORD Says Her Forthcoming Album Contains 'A Lot Of Substance'

Prior to her January 25 performance in Milan, Italy, Lita Ford spoke with Rock Rebel Magazine. The full conversation can be streamed below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On becoming a professional musician:

Lita: "It was just the way my life was going to go. It wasn't an option. It wasn't something where I sat down and made a list — 'What do I want to be? A doctor, or a musician?' There just wasn't any other way for me to go."

On her early years in music:

Lita: "THE RUNAWAYS for me [was] very much a learning process. We were young girls and we had to come into our own. That, to me, was huge — to learn how to be Lita Ford... That was the biggest thing that I got out of THE RUNAWAYS — how to be me, to be a performer."

On the band's legacy:

Lita: "It's wonderful to be able to be in 2020 and still be able to [hear] the music you played when you were a kid. It's come full circle now, but I knew that in THE RUNAWAYS. We all knew that we were before our time. We were just hoping that eventually, it would come full circle, and I think now it really has."

On going solo:

Lita: "It was difficult for many reasons, breaking away from THE RUNAWAYS and then trying to create and give myself an image and write songs and learn how to sing. I wasn't a singer in THE RUNAWAYS — I was just a backing singer, so it was a lot of work. Once you get over that hump and do all those things in putting together a band, I think everything else fell into place."

On her 1990 album, "Stiletto":

Lita: "Herb Ritts shot [the cover], and I don't think he put his name on it. I think he just did the photo shoot and didn't want any credit for it, which was fine. He put me on a rooftop in Los Angeles and he wanted to use sunlight for the lighting, and I was blind. Then he would say, 'Open your eyes'... It was hard, so every time I look at this picture, I think of that sunlight in my eyes... Musically, one of my favorite solos was 'The Ripper'. I love that guitar solo. 'Lisa' was a song I wrote for my mom — she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and she was given just a few months to live. I wanted to give her a song — I wanted to give her a gift. You know [how] some people write songs after the people are dead? I didn't want to do that — I wanted her to hear it, and I wanted her to be there at the video shoot, and she was. That was pretty cool... It's a magic song."

On her 1991 album, "Dangerous Curves":

Lita: "The title was given to me by my dear friend Sammy Hagar. We started writing a song and never finished the song, so I just used the title. I don't know where that song went — I'll have to check that out..."

On her 2012 album, "Living Like A Runaway":

Lita: "I broke away from my ex-husband, and I was living like a runaway. We went straight on tour and we never stopped. A lot of the songs in this album are true life stories. [It's] pretty hardcore if you listen to it."

On the modern music industry:

Lita: "The music industry has changed so much, just like everything has changed over the years. I do miss the old-school, because it was just bigger and better and easier. I'm just happy to be still be out performing now. I feel lucky that we are still able to go out and perform now."

On her future plans:

Lita: "We've got a great new record. Hopefully we'll get it out by the time we start touring with Alice Cooper in the spring. We're shooting for that time frame. It's a great record. I don't want to talk about it yet — once it hits, then we can talk about it — but I'm very excited. It's been a long time in the making, so there's a lot of substance to the record."

Ford's new album — her ninth — will serve as the follow-up to 2012's "Living Like A Runaway". From April through June, she will tour with Alice Cooper.

NIGHTWISH's FLOOR JANSEN: 'We're Ruining The Planet For Future Generations'

NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen says that we are at the edge of ruining the planet for future generations.

The Dutch vocalist spoke about the environmental crisis three months ahead of the release of NIGHTWISH's ninth studio album, "Human. :II: Nature.".

She told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine: "One good thing about social media is that it has made us more aware. It takes a global effort to make real change, and countries you might not at first think of are actually very active in trying to turn things around.

"As a child, I was shocked at the idea of animals being killed for sport. I became a member of an organization that campaigned against it, but today they're still fighting exactly the same battles. Shooting animals for pleasure is disgusting, and it's more organised now than before, with people paying a lot of money. They claim it's raising funds to help conserve animals — that's sad and weird, but at least it's not as bad as it was 20 years ago. The way we then treat the planet to get those luxuries is a problem. We're ruining the planet for future generations.

"As a musician looking out of my window and seeing nothing but nature, I'm aware these problems aren't at my doorstep, and sometimes even reading about it doesn't get you nearer the truth because everything is colored by someone's agenda," she continued. "For example, we've heard a lot about the problem of plastic being dumped in the ocean, and while that's terrible we don't hear so much about all the other places plastic is being dumped. Getting to the truth about global warming, equally, isn't easy. As long as people's power and money are more important than their consideration of our planet, nothing will change. Using compostable supermarket bags is a start, but big corporations need to start changing their ways, too.

"I don't think we're doomed yet, but we really need to smarten up. If you look at how long humans have been around, the threat seems less immediate because the planet is much older than we are. A lot of shit came along as we industrialized, but also a lot of new knowledge and exciting possibilities arose. If we explore those details, and show that we care about them, we can turn our polluting effect into a much more planet-friendly outcome."

"Human. :II: Nature." will be released on April 10 via Nuclear Blast. The long-awaited follow-up to 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" will be a double album containing nine tracks on the main CD and one long track, divided into eight chapters on CD 2.

"Human. :II: Nature." was recorded from August to October 2019 at Röskö campsite, Petrax Studios and Troykington castle, as well as Finnvox Studios, by Tero Kinnunen, Mikko Karmila and Troy Donockley. The mixing was done by Mikko Karmila at Finnvox, with Tuomas Holopainen and Tero Kinnunen. Mastering was done by Mika Jussila at Finnvox.

NIGHTWISH's new album will mark the band's second full-length effort with Floor, who has been touring with the group since 2012.

GARY HOLT Hopes To Have New EXODUS Album Out Before End Of 2020

This past Wednesday (February 12), EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt spoke to Finland's Kaaos TV about the band's plans to make the follow-up to 2014's "Blood In Blood Out" album. He said (see video below): "We'll be in the studio hopefully this summer. We're staying home this summer, except for one show at the Dynamo festival [in the Netherlands]. We're not doing a European summer festival tour or nothing, and we're just gonna work on the new record. And it's fucking heavy. [Laughs] It's so heavy. [Laughs]"

Gary went on to say that he has "a lot of stuff" already written for the next EXODUS LP. "I never stop writing," he revealed. "I've got enough riffs for five albums right now. I'll keep writing right up till we start recording."

As for a possible release date for EXODUS's new effort, Holt said: "I hope to have it out this year — like late in the year. We'll see how the scheduling goes and all that."

Holt also talked about returning to EXODUS as a full-time member after playing with SLAYER for nearly a decade as the replacement for late guitarist Jeff Hanneman. He said: "[When I first started playing with SLAYER], I thought I was just going to step in and help the guys out until Jeff could come back. And I thought maybe [I would stay there for] six months tops. And tragedy struck, and next thing I know, it's almost nine years. And it was nine great years, and we had a lot of fun, despite the tragedy that resulted in my still being there. But at the end of the day, I'm happy to be back here. This is my family. SLAYER is my family too. This is my first family. They're second family. And these guys are my childhood friends. So it's good to be back with 'em."

Gary also shot down the suggestion that playing with SLAYER inspired him to write new EXODUS material. "[Those are] totally different worlds," he explained. "My job in SLAYER was play the songs, play them well and go out and shred as fast as I can for the whole show. And it was cool. And it was good for my lead chops, 'cause there's a lot of solos in the SLAYER songs, especially for me, 'cause I did all of Jeff's solos, and Jeff had a lot of leads. So it was cool. I got to shine and do my thing and stuff and do it in front of a lot of people. But I'm happy to be back where I belong."

Holt joined EXODUS in 1981 shortly after the band's formation, and has been its main songwriter ever since. Holt has performed on every EXODUS album, and is considered highly influential in the world of thrash metal. In 2011, he began filling in for Hanneman at SLAYER live shows, and became the band's full-time co-guitarist as of 2013, while remaining a member of EXODUS. In October 2014, EXODUS released its tenth studio album, "Blood In Blood Out", on the Nuclear Blast label.

"Blood In Blood Out" marked EXODUS's first album since the departure of the group's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.

MACHINE HEAD's LOGAN MADER Says It's 'Pretty Surreal And Weird' To Be Taking Part In 'Burn My Eyes' 25th-Anniversary Tour

MACHINE HEAD guitarist Logan Mader spoke to Heavy New York about his participation in the 25th-anniversary tour for the band's debut album, "Burn My Eyes". Asked how he looks back on "Burn My Eyes" more than a quarter century since the LP's release, Logan said (see video below): "The way I look at it now is it's pretty special and unique. I'm just super lucky that it even matters today and that the timing worked out where we could do this tour and that I was able to be a part of it. It's pretty emotional and a pretty big milestone in my life as far as things that are awesome in life — this is one of the most important things. And now to get to relive it, it's pretty surreal and weird, I guess. Most people don't get to do that, and I'm aware of it, and I'm super grateful and just stoked. It's all good vibes."

According to Mader, the fans' reactions to the current tour have been overwhelmingly positive. "It just reminds me, and it makes me aware, like, 'Wow! That really did have a big impact on a lot of people,'" he said. "And I can see it now. And I know it did then too. But the fact that it still does is pretty awesome. It's, like, I'll see people my age coming to our shows with their teenage kids, and the kids are wearing MACHINE HEAD shirts. Obviously, they weren't even born [when 'Burn My Eyes' came out]. And they're into it. That's something super unique, and I didn't ever think about that until I got out here [on the road] and saw it."

Asked if he and MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn had a preconceived idea about the "Burn My Eyes" musical direction when they first started writing the material for the record, Logan said: "When I came in, it was the beginning, but Robb had a few songs written already, and he had a pretty clear direction of where the band was gonna go creatively and how to sound, and it had something special to it. So when I came in, I did my best to be myself, but also to fit alongside the foundation he had laid, with songs like 'Death Church', 'Blood For Blood' and 'Block', which I think was [originally] called 'Fuck It All'; I think those three were done when I joined. And then songs like 'Old' — I participated in the riff writing of 'Old' and 'Davidian' and 'A Nation On Fire' and 'A Thousand Lies'. So, yeah, and I guess it worked — chemistry-wise, it worked — and I brought some really cool riffs to the party. But we didn't know what the fuck… Robb knew. He told me when I first talked to him about it. He was, like, 'Yeah, I think this is gonna be big. It's gonna be big.' And I believed him for some reason. And he was right. But nobody would have known it could have been as big as it was. It was just, I guess, a lucky thing."

The North American leg of the "Burn My Eyes" 25th-anniversary tour kicked off in Phoenix on January 16 and will continue across Chicago and Denver, wrapping up at the legendary Fox Theater in Oakland, California on February 21 and House Of Blues in Anaheim, California on February 22. Each show on the trek consists of two parts: part one sees Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern performing alongside new recruits, Polish guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka (DECAPITATED) and British drummer Matt Alston (DEVILMENT, EASTERN FRONT); while part two features "Burn My Eyes" played in its entirety for the first time ever, with original drummer Chris Kontos and Mader joining in.

Kontos left MACHINE HEAD before the release of the band's second album, 1997's "The More Things Change", and was replaced by Dave McClain.

Mader contributed to two MACHINE HEAD albums, the aforementioned "Burn My Eyes" and "The More Things Change", before exiting the group and being replaced by Ahrue Luster and, later on, Phil Demmel.

Demmel and McClain exited MACHINE HEAD in the fall of 2018.

QUEEN Reprises Iconic 1985 LIVE AID Set At FIRE FIGHT AUSTRALIA Concert

For first time in its history, QUEEN, fronted by singer Adam Lambert, performed the band's iconic 1985 Live Aid set earlier tonight (Sunday, February 16) at the Fire Fight Australia benefit concert in Sydney.

QUEEN played the original 22-minute set consisting of six songs: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Ga Ga", "Hammer To Fall", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions".

As part of the performance, QUEEN included footage and audio of late singer Freddie Mercury from Live Aid for a crowd sing-along.

QUEEN's appearance at the Live Aid benefit concert at Wembley Stadium has been referred to as the "greatest live performance of all time." The July 13, 1985 concert was set up to raise funds for the famine in Ethiopia and QUEEN delivered what was arguably the performance that stole the show.

QUEEN's Live Aid performance was recreated for the band's biopic, "Bohemian Rhapsody", which was released in 2018. The film has become the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, bringing in more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. This was despite a lukewarm reaction from critics upon release.

The 10-hour Fire Fight Australia concert benefits key organizations providing vital short, medium and long-term rescue, recover and rehabilitation assistance in Australia's fire-affected areas. Both internationally renowned and local musicians will unite to share one stage during the country's time of need.

Earlier this week in Australia, fire officials announced that all fires in New South Wales were contained for the first time this bushfire season. Bushfires destroyed more than 2,400 homes and burned more than 13 million acres in the country's most populous state.

SAXON Frontman BIFF BYFORD Unveils Video For 'Me And You' Song From 'School Of Hard Knocks' Solo Album

Legendary SAXON frontman Biff Byford has released the official music video for his new solo single "Me And You". The song is taken from Byford's first solo album "School Of Hard Knocks", which is set for release on February 21 via Silver Lining Music.

"Happy Valentine's Day," says Biff. "I wrote this song for my wife and our 25th anniversary but I think it can be for anybody who's in a relationship. We all have anniversaries and memories. [It's] not my usual style of song but it's always good to throw in a curveball!"

With his roots firmly in the north of England, Biff has earned the right to be considered The Heavy Metal Bard Of The North and his debut album reflects the man and his personality, his loves and his musical versatility.

"School Of Hard Knocks" features Byford on vocals (and a spot of four-string thunder) along with Fredrik Åkesson (OPETH) on guitars, drummer Christian Lundqvist and bass player Gus Macricostas. The album also features guest appearances by Phil Campbell (MOTÖRHEAD), Alex Holzwarth (RHAPSODY OF FIRE and TURILLI/LIONE RHAPSODY), Nick Barker (VOICES), Dave Kemp (WAYWARD SONS) and Nibbs Carter (SAXON). The album was produced by Byford, recorded by Jacky Lehmann at Brighton Electric Studios in Brighton (U.K.) and mixed at Queen Street Studios in Stockholm (Sweden) by Mats Valentin.

"School Of Hard Knocks" fulfils Byford's long-standing wish to explore rock 'n' roll a little more. The album is a personal journey highlighting his life and his passionate interests, from the history of the Middle Ages to growing up in the industrial North. A classic, masterfully constructed old-school British hard rock album, "School Of Hard Knocks" embraces a variety of musical genres and includes the Yorkshire folk classic "Scarborough Fair", famously covered by SIMON & GARFUNKEL. Byford and Fredrik Åkesson's arrangement breathes new life into the legendary song.

Byford recently announced his first-ever solo tour dates. The tour begins in the U.K. in April and continues to Europe in May. The show, in the form of "An Evening With...", will be split into two halves. The first features Biff in conversation with Don Jamieson (American comedian and star of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show") on all aspects of his life and career. After the break, Biff and his band will play some new songs, covers and, maybe, a SAXON song or two.

Biff says: "It's a show I've wanted to do for a long time and one which I don't think has been done in hard rock before. It'll be something different and a lot of fun."

HATEBREED Releases New Single, 'When The Blade Drops'

Connecticut hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED have released a new single called "When The Blade Drops". The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, which is tentatively due in May. The follow-up to 2016's "The Concrete Confessional" was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with ROB ZOMBIE and QUEENSRŸCHE, among many others.

HATEBREED guitarist Wayne Lozinak stated about "When The Blade Drops": "Can't wait for you to hear it. It's a great song and I think you're gonna love it."

Last year, HATEBREED drummer Matt Byrne told Heavy New York that his band "absolutely" has a specific formula or a template when it comes to songwriting. "I think record to record, the earlier you go, the more 'hardcore' you would find the material," he said. "But as we've progressed through the years, I think we've injected more and more 'metal' into it. We're fans of both genres. I think that's just what we listen to and what we like to play, so naturally, that's the type of stuff we're gonna write."

Matt went on to say that HATEBREED "experimented a little bit" on its 2009 self-titled effort. "That's where we started really experimenting with — not so much singing, but maybe holding a note in the vocal lines and adding some more guitar solos, a little bit more shred work, instead of just — which is the typical HATEBREED formula — simple song structure, short structure, fast part, breakdown, mid-tempo; there's always those elements within the music," he explained. "And that is the identity, I think that is the formula; that's what we naturally have always done. We've always been fans of music that comes right out of the box and just punches you in the face, and I think the longer the song — how people are nowadays anyway — the longer the song, people kind of get lost and the attention dwindles and stuff. So we're short and to the point, man — we get it done. We just punch you in the face and then we're gone. If there's a formula, that would be it — just short and concise, short and sweet."

HATEBREED singer Jamey Jasta's latest solo album "The Lost Chapters - Volume 2" came out in December.

Ex-ACCEPT Singer DAVID REECE Releases Music Video For 'Metal Voice'

"Metal Voice", the new video from former ACCEPT singer David Reece, can be seen below. The song is taken from Reece's new full-length album, "Cacophony Of Souls", which is due on March 13 via El Puerto Records. Joining Reece on the effort are ex-U.D.O./SINNER guitarist Andy Susemihl, bassist Malte Frederik Burkert (EXOTOXIS) and drummer Andrea Gianangeli (DRAGONHAMMER, SOULS UNCHAINED).

Track listing:

01. Chasing The Shadows

02. Blood On Our Hands

03. Judgement Day

04. Collective Anaesthesia

05. Cacophony Of Souls

06. Another Life Another Time

07. Metal Voice

08. Over And Over

09. Back In The Days

10. A Perfect World

11. Bleed

12. No Disguise

Reece was recruited by ACCEPT for the "Eat The Heat" album in 1989 following the departure of Udo Dirkschneider. Reece's higher-pitched delivery was in sharp contrast to Udo's distinctive style, and overall, the album was a critical and commercial disappointment. Midway through the "Eat The Heat" tour, differences between the band and Reece had come to a head, leading to the altercation between the singer and bassist Peter Baltes in Chicago. By the end of 1989, ACCEPT had hung it up.

Back in 2017, Reece told Canadian rock journalist Mitch Lafon that he still looks back fondly on the "Eat The Heat" album. "You know what? It's weird, because the bad blood happened at the end of it, and I hated it — I hated everything about it," he said. "I knew it opened a bunch of doors for me, but… I, on a daily basis, get people telling me what that album means to them now. At the beginning, they hated me, but now it's, like, they have this rebirth of how great it is. And I listened to it the other day, and I went, 'That's a pretty dang good album for a first.'"

He continued: "Yeah, I'm proud of it. I mean, that's a… I mean, it's not ACCEPT — okay, let's be honest — but there's some cool stuff on there. And I still get paid royalties for that album. They [re-released] it on vinyl. I get these statements; people buy it from the old crowd and the new crowd. And I'm, like, 'Ooooh…' So it's got legs to this day, and that was '88… 1988, '89. Amazing."

Reece has also played with BONFIRE and BANGALORE CHOIR.

Listen To SYSTEM OF A DOWN's JOHN DOLMAYAN And SERJ TANKIAN Cover DAVID BOWIE's 'Starman'

John Dolmayan, the drummer of Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum Los Angeles quartet SYSTEM OF A DOWN, has released "Starman", a high-voltage rendition of David Bowie's 1972 hit. The song, which features SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian, marks the second single from Dolmayan's "These Grey Men" album.

The eight-track LP, due on Friday, February 28, is an eclectic collection of reimagined songs Dolmayan was inspired by during many drives between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. "These Grey Men" features additional special guest artists, including AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, with a bulk of the album recorded at Dave Grohl's Studio 606.

"While I was driving, I'd put on satellite radio and listen to whatever came on," says Dolmayan. "Oftentimes, I'd hear something and ask myself how I would play or arrange it. I actually started to make a list of about 30 songs I might cover someday. I just got inspiration from desert driving and listening to music. SYSTEM wasn't making music at the time, but I needed an outlet for my artistic energy. So, I whittled down the list and reached out to some artists I wanted to work with."

Through the album are standouts including powerful renditions of notable song's such as the leadoff single, "Street Spirit", a lively cover from the RADIOHEAD catalog that catapults the song into a new dimension with M. Shadows on vocals and a blistering guitar solo from Morello. Jon Blistein of Rolling Stone noted: "Dolmayan's cover itself is a complete transformation of 'Street Spirit', making it a larger-than-life arena rocker that still retains the same pathos as the original. The track ends with the delirious buzz of Morello's guitar."

Other tracks that break into new sonic territory include a spirited arrangement of TALKING HEADS' "Road To Nowhere", on which Dolmayan's commanding drumming also links with Tankian.

Over a span of five years, Dolmayan carefully assembled what would become "These Grey Men", joined by James Hazley on guitar, Tom Coppossela on bass and Danny Shouman on keys for the bulk of the project. Choosing eight diverse classics from the popular music canon, Dolmayan recorded his parts at Studio 606 and personally arranged strings at Toys Of The Masses.

Produced by Dolmayan with Hazley, the title for "These Grey Men", was birthed from conversations with a close friend, a former U.S. Navy S.E.A.L.

"A buddy of mine is a former Navy S.E.A.L., and he was staying at my house when I was making the album," Dolmayan says. "He's a very introspective guy and a really good person. We'd have these long conversations. He told me S.E.A.L.s would always try to be nondescript. You would never notice them in a room. In other words, they were 'Grey Men.' He said, 'They're kind of invisible — similar to a drummer.' We thought it would be a great title, because many people don't necessarily notice the drummer unless there's a mistake."

"These Gray Men" track listing:

01. Hung Up (MADONNA)

02. Street Spirit (RADIOHEAD)

03. Beautiful Thieves (AFI)

04. Road To Nowhere (TALKING HEADS)

05. Rock Bottom (EMINEM)

06. Runaway (DEL SHANNON)

07. Starman (DAVID BOWIE)

08. What You Know (TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB)

AMARANTHE Releases 'Do Or Die' Single/Video Featuring Ex-ARCH ENEMY Singer ANGELA GOSSOW

Swedish/Danish metallers AMARANTHE are ready to present a very special Valentine's Day gift: a brand new song featuring former ARCH ENEMY vocalist Angela Gossow. "Do Or Die" displays AMARANTHE's heavier side and is accompanied by a dystopian horror video filmed in Spain, featuring Fardou Keuning's stunning creations.

Gossow comments: "It was thrilling to join AMARANTHE for a more extreme track and shooting a cutting-edge video for it! This is no cozy studio performance, but real ice-cold winds, sewages, cadavers and pouring rain — the reality we live in, the devastating legacy we leave to our future generations. Time to wake up, turn — and bang — some heads! Watch out for these guys and killer lady, they are going to crush you this year with a new album and some heavy touring!!!"

Guitarist Olof Mörck states: "While AMARANTHE's music is often uplifting, energetic and positive, sooner or later everyone needs to deal with the obvious fact that the world is literally crumbling around us — and it is crumbling fast, thanks to the short sighted abuse of our common Mother Earth! We talked to legendary Angela Gossow of ARCH ENEMY fame to do an entire package of a video and a song, outside of any normal album cycle, and let our different perspectives on metal collide in a massive explosion; and it resulted in 'Do Or Die'! Together with Overbeck Media who shot the video, we delivered something really quite special, and Angela brings in a fresh strength to the trademark AMARANTHE sound that is sure to resound all across the metal world! Death and fire!"

Last fall, AMARANTHE announced it had signed a new deal with Nuclear Blast for the release of its sixth studio album, due later this year.

AMARANTHE will embark on a North American headlining tour in the summer/fall of 2020. The 37-date trek will kick-off at the Soundstage in Baltimore on August 20 and will make stops in Chicago, Vancouver and Denver before concluding on October 2 at the Riverfront Live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Support on the trek will come Finnish metallers BATTLE BEAST and the Boston symphonic metal band SEVEN SPIRES.

With its foundations tracing back to 2008, AMARANTHE has released five albums thus far, consistently delivering hauntingly catchy tunes led by their unique three-part vocals. Within their arsenal of hit singles, a myriad tracks have been received very well via press and fans alike; having also gained countless plays on both radio stations around the globe and across streaming services (the group's songs have been streamed more than 100 million times on Spotify). A string of support tours has blazed AMARANTHE's trail in front of huge crowds as well as at their own headline concerts (the group impressively once performed in front of 10,000 fans at Liseberg, Gothenburg). They have kept working incredibly hard over the years, the latest product of which culminated in the form of 2018's "Helix", which achieved them some of their highest chart positions in the band's history.

AMARANTHE is currently on tour in Europe as the support act for Swedish metal giants SABATON alongside Finnish cello metallers APOCALYPTICA.

19. Fire with Fire

20. Pristine (with George Oosthoek and Elianne Anemaat)

21. We Had Everything

22. We Are the Others

23. The Monarch (Outro)

Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below.

"Apocalypse & Chill" was released on February 7. According to a press release, the disc "explores topics of impending doom and human indifference," making DELAIN's "their boldest, most daring and undeniable offering yet. Brutal riffs, synth-heavy patterns and fully orchestrated compositions accented by vocalist Charlotte Wessels's extraordinary vocal potency will enthrall the listener, while new influences may surprise. The broad soundscape on 'Apocalypse & Chill' ranges from anthemic rock to electronic metal and breaks all stereotypes, without losing the special DELAIN trademarks."

Keyboardist Martijn Westerholt told Metal Insider about the making of "Apocalypse & Chill": "I think a lot of interviewers ask us, 'Do you have a goal or like an aim before you started?' We always say no, but there's also always one exception. We always say, 'We want it more heavy, hard, or loud.' And so we always aim for that part and then let me start with just go, literally go with the flow, so to say. And it really worked out well with this album. What also helped is that our guitar player, Timo [Somers], he normally always arranges what we write. So when we were done writing, we gave it to Timo and he tweaked it and then we recorded it. But this time, he also really contributed some material himself. And that also helped very much in the heaviness. And then there's, of course, how you mix and produce it. And yeah, we've always tried to make that as heavy as possible."

Westerholt also talked about the "Apocalypse & Chill" recording process, saying: "I was kind of thinking that this time it would be better to do everything fragmented. So normally the old-fashioned way of doing it, so to say, is that you write everything first and then you record and mix everything. And this time we kind of wrote a couple songs then recorded and mixed those and then went back and wrote more songs and recorded and mixed those. And an advantage of that is you are way more flexible. You can go back to your song, which is already mixed and tweaked things even, while in the old way of working, when everything is mixed, it's done and there's kind of no return. And that makes things way more flexible. It always makes it more inefficient in the process because you have to build down and build up drums over and over again, and in the studio, and record over and over again instead of in one go, but it also gives you more flexibility, and I think it really benefits the process very much."

DELAIN is:

Martijn Westerholt - Keyboards

Charlotte Wessels - Vocals

Joey Marin de Boer - Drums

Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije - Bass

Timo Somers - Guitar

RUSH: 'Permanent Waves' 40th-Anniversary Expanded Reissue Due In March

The classic RUSH album "Permanent Waves" will be made available as a 40th-anniversary reissue on March 27. Amazon currently has the title listed in Super Deluxe, 2CD, 3LP and Digital formats.

The Super Deluxe Edition will feature two CDs, three 180-gram audiophile black vinyl LPs and a 40-page hardcover book filled with reimagined artwork by original album designer Hugh Syme, unreleased photos from the band's archive and an exclusive twelve-thousand-plus-word essay. The "Abbey Road Mastering Studios 2015" album remaster is made available on CD for the first time. CD 2 is loaded with unreleased bonus live tracks from three stops on the "Permanent Waves" world tour 1980: Manchester Apollo, Manchester, England; Hammersmith Odeon, London, England; and Kiel Auditorium, St. Louis, Missouri, all newly mixed by the band's longtime producer Terry Brown.

"Permanent Waves" is the band's first of many iconic visits to Le Studio recording studio in Morin Heights, Quebec which has been nicknamed RUSH's Abbey Road Studios. A blank sheet of Le Studio letterhead was newly discovered, so the first of many collectibles included is a 20-page 5"x7" Le Studio notepad. The two replica tour programs represent the official "Permanent Waves" world tour 1980 program and with the inclusion of U.K. performances the very rare, unofficial "The Words & Pictures Volume II" U.K.-only tour program is included. The Super Deluxe Edition's finishing touches feature three bandmember replica backstage laminates, a 24"x36" double-sided poster showcasing the original album cover model and photos of each band member recording at Le Studio, and three Neil Peart handwritten lyric sheets for "The Spirit Of Radio", "Entre Nous" and "Natural Science".

"Permanent Waves" is the band's first departure from in-depth, ten-minute-plus conceptual song crafting and is deemed as a poignant moment they reinvented themselves and their sound. "We've taken it (the conceptual album) to its logical limit and it's time to do something else," remarked Geddy Lee. To further reinvent themselves, the band opted to record at Le Studio in Quebec which has been highly credited in the evolution of the RUSH sound and would soon become their home away from home for future albums to come. Giving birth to two of the band's most important songs in their stable, "The Spirit Of Radio" along with "Freewill" offered fans a long-overdue experience: regular radio play. Additionally, the album features the cinematic "Jacob's Ladder", the album's third single "Entre Nous", the Geddy Lee-lyric-penned "Different Strings" and the barometer for pure progressive rock "Natural Science".

Super Deluxe Edition track listing:

TESLA Releases Music Video For 'What You Give' From 'Five Man London Jam'

Sacramento, California rockers TESLA visited iconic recording studio Abbey Road Studios in London, England in June 2019 for a one-night musical event capturing the band performing songs from their legendary arsenal, including "Love Song" and "What You Give", along with their classic covers of "Signs" and "We Can Work It Out". Additionally, the band performed live for the first time ever its new song "California Love Song", from its latest album "Shock", plus "Tied To The Tracks" and "Forever Loving You". The performance was recorded and filmed in 4K high definition, bringing forth the band's newest live album "Five Man London Jam" as an homage to their critically acclaimed live acoustic album "Five Man Acoustical Jam".

"Five Man London Jam" will be released on March 27 on Blu-ray, 2LP vinyl, CD and digital via Ume. The Blu-ray includes a bonus interview with TESLA reflecting on the 30th anniversary of "Five Man Acoustical Jam" and performing for the first time at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

Issued in July 1990, TESLA's stripped down "Five Man Acoustical Jam" was an instant success that coincided with the rise of MTV's unplugged format. The set has since gone platinum in the U.S.

Last year, TESLA singer Jeff Keith told Canada's The Metal Voice about "Five Man London Jam": "It was done at Abbey Road studios [in London, England]. How cool is that? It's been 30 years. We had fun doing it 30 years ago, and we had fun when we were over at Abbey Road studios, where THE BEATLES and a whole lot more other great bands have recorded. And it was awesome. We just did it live [with] a little audience there. Once again, [it was] a live performance. And that's my favorite thing to do — performing live… I like it when it's live, because you don't even realize it. We're just having fun performing songs and they're gonna make a live record of it, and have some extra footage to put in there. We had a great time; we had a fantastic time. It was a blast."

Asked about the setlist for TESLA's performance at Abbey Road, Keith said: "Well, it was requested that we do some stuff to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of 'Five Man Acoustical Jam', so we did five or six songs from that. And then we did some of our new songs, [from] the record that we made with Phil Collen from DEF LEPPARD [2019's 'Shock'], which was fantastic. So we've got some new recordings there — it's new recordings of the 30-years-ago celebration — and we had fun with it. Just like we did 30 years ago, we had fun with it again."

Regarding the original "Five Man Acoustical Jam" recording, Jeff said: "It was just like an accident waiting to happen, and it was a great accident. Not an accident, but… We had been on tour with MÖTLEY CRÜE, and we had to jam an acoustical set that we did for, I think, the Bammies, the Bay Area Music Awards. So we decided, 'Hey, instead of sitting on two nights off in a row, we'll just find a club that'll let us come in and play our songs acoustically and have fun with it,' and that's what we did. And it was feeling so good, the decision was made with Geffen Records, 'Let's just record the whole night.' And we went to a radio station — me, Frank [Hannon] and Tommy [Skeoch] — and we played 'Signs' and the phones were ringing off the hook. I think it's our biggest-selling record to date. But it was all just having fun."

TESLA is continuing to tour in support of "Shock", which was released in March 2019 via UMe. The follow-up to 2014's "Simplicity" was produced and co-written by Collen.
