Louisiana Man Pleads Guilty To Burning Three Churches In Effort To Raise His Profile As 'Black Metal' Musician
A 22-year-old black metal fan has pleaded guilty on Monday to setting fire to three black churches in Louisiana.
Holden Matthews admitted in court to setting fires to St. Mary Baptist Church Greater Union Baptist and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church over a 10-day period in March and April 2019. All three churches are historically black and in the St. Landry Parish, which is nearly 42 percent black.
Matthews pleaded guilty to three counts of violating the Church Arson Prevention Act, 18 U.S.C. § 247(a)(1) — one count for each church — as well as one count of using fire to commit a federal felony, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 844(h). The fires completely destroyed each of the church buildings.
At the plea hearing, Matthews admitted that, between March 26 and April 4, 2019, he intentionally set fire to three Baptist churches in the Opelousas, Louisiana area. First, on March 26, 2019, Matthews set fire to St. Mary Baptist Church in Port Barre, Louisiana. Next, on April 2, 2019, Matthews set fire to the Greater Union Baptist Church, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Then, on April 4, 2019, Matthews set fire to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. The fires Matthews set destroyed each of the church buildings. Matthews admitted to setting the fires because of the religious character of these buildings, in an effort to raise his profile as a "black metal" musician by copying similar crimes committed in Norway in the 1990s. Matthews further admitted that, after setting the third fire, he posted photographs and videos on Facebook that showed the first two churches burning. Matthews admitted that he had taken these photographs and videos in real time on his cell phone, as he watched those churches burn, and that he had posted them to Facebook in an effort to promote himself in the black metal community.
"The Department of Justice will remain unwavering in its protection of the freedom to practice religion without the threat of discrimination or violence," said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Civil Rights Division. "Matthews admitted to setting fire to three churches because of their religious character. His disgraceful conduct violated the civil rights of the church's parishioners and harmed their communities."
"Today, the defendant has taken responsibility for the burning and destruction of three of our churches," said U.S. Attorney David C. Joseph of the Western District of Louisiana. "The freedom to safely congregate and worship in our churches is a fundamental right of all Americans and will be vigorously protected by my office and our law enforcement partners. I want to thank the ATF, FBI, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, St. Landry Parish Fire Department, Louisiana State Fire Marshal, Louisiana Attorney General's Cybercrime Unit, Louisiana State Police, and the Florida State Fire Marshal for their hard work and seamless collaboration on this case."
"Holden Matthews made a conscious decision to randomly target and destroy churches within his own community. His atrocious actions inflicted severe pain and grief upon these congregations, as well as all of St. Landry Parish," said Special Agent in Charge Bryan Vorndran of the FBI's New Orleans Field Office. "Throughout this investigation, the men and women of the FBI, ATF, Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, St. Landry Parish District Attorney's Office, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry's Cybercrime Unit, and the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office worked tirelessly to bring Holden Matthews to justice."
"Protecting our communities is a vital part of our mission," said ATF Special Agent in Charge Kurt Thielhorn. "ATF will continue to provide expertise and resources to investigate arson at houses of worship which threaten the well-being of our communities. I would like to thank all of our law enforcement partners for working tirelessly to ensure justice will be served."
Matthews was arrested after investigators found a gas can at the scene of one of the fires and traced it back to a local Walmart and linked it to Matthews's credit card.
According to The Daily Beast, a Facebook page that appeared to belong to Matthews showed he was active in pagan and black metal pages, and that he commented on two memes about far-right former neo-Nazi metal musician Varg Vikernes, who served 15 years in prison for killing a fellow metal musician and burning churches in Norway. Matthews was also the lead singer for a band called VODKA VULTURES, according to CBS News.
One of the suspect's friends, Nygyl Bryyn, told the Associated Press that Matthews had long been upset with his parents for not supporting his musical efforts. He also said Matthews had been discouraged in the months leading up to the fires as Bryyn urged him to improve the quality of his recordings.
Matthews will be sentenced on May 22. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, and a statutory maximum sentence of 70 years in prison.

Rock And Metal Stars Honor DIMEBAG At DIMEBASH 2020: Official Video Recap
Dave Grohl, members of ANTHRAX, Lita Ford, CYPRESS HILL's Sen Dog, members of IN THIS MOMENT, Chris Broderick, BMX legend Rick Thorne, and Sebastian Bach were among dozens of musicians who came together at Dimebash 2020 to pay tribute to "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, the late co-founder and guitarist of PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN, in front of a sold-out house at The Observatory OC in Santa Ana, California on January 16. The night featured Dime's music and some of his favorite songs performed by a rotating cast of guests that also included members of ARMORED SAINT, BAD WOLVES, BUTCHER BABIES, CROWBAR, HELLYEAH, KING'S X, KYNG, LAMB OF GOD, PRONG, SEPULTURA, STONE SOUR and more, led by musical director Nick Bowcott and stage manager Jessica Hill. Many additional musicians were also in attendance to honor Dimebag, including Mike Inez of ALICE IN CHAINS, Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of HALESTORM and Chad Kroeger of NICKELBACK.
The official video recap of this year's Dimebash can be seen below.
The all-ages event — produced by Dimebag's longtime partner Rita Haney — also served as the unofficial kick-off for the Winter NAMM show, and was hosted by metal ambassadors Jose Mangin (Affliction, SiriusXM) and Riki Rachtman (former MTV "Headbangers Ball" host, Cathouse founder), and opened with the homegrown Texas sounds of WHISKEYDICK.
After the show, artists and VIPs enjoyed a backstage party with tunes spun by KNAC's DJ Will and barbecue from pitmaster Dave Grohl and his BackBeat BBQ. In an interview with the Orange County Register (January 17, 2020), Dave Grohl said: "You share food, you share music, you share laughs and… it's so exciting and an honor to celebrate Dimebag."
The all-star performance featured over 30 songs, including PANTERA classics such as "Mouth For War", "F*cking Hostile", "I'm Broken", "Cowboys From Hell", "Cemetery Gates" and "Walk", along with various rock and metal classics such as "Ace Of Spades", "Sweating Bullets" and "Balls To The Wall".
Other highlights of the night included Dave Grohl joining 10 other drummers for SEPULTURA's "Roots Bloody Roots", with SEPULTURA's Derrick Green on vocals; Lita Ford and her band playing "Gotta Let Go" and "Close My Eyes Forever"; Sebastian Bach belting out "Cemetery Gates"; Nick Bowcott's opening guitar medley of Dimebag songs, the BUTCHER BABIES version of PANTERA's "F*cking Hostile"; and Scott Ian (on acoustic guitar), his wife Pearl Aday and outlaw country music star Cody Jinks performing the PINK FLOYD classic "Wish You Were Here".
Towards the end of the night, Dave Grohl took the stage to sing the FOO FIGHTERS' "Weenie Beenie", with Scott Ian and his young son Revel on guitar, Frank Bello on bass and Charlie Benante on drums. Dimebash wrapped up with all 70+ music artists coming to the stage to honor Dimebag and his brother, late PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN and HELLYEAH drummer Vinnie Paul, with PANTERA's "Walk".
Event producer and Dimebag's longtime partner Rita Haney told Kelli Skye Fadroski of the Orange County Register: "It's hard to express my gratitude to everyone who still loves him [Abbott]. If you could put into words the smile that's on my face and this feeling that I have bubbling up inside right now, it's that. It doesn't matter who you are, whether you're in a band just starting out or a band that sells out Wembley Stadium, everyone wants to come together, hang out, eat some barbecue and laugh."
Various items were raffled off for charity during Dimebash, including a one-of-a-kind Ronz World hand painted guitar featuring Dimebag's likeness. Ronz World also surprised Dave Grohl with a unique BackBeat BBQ guitar, created specially for him. Proceeds from the event will benefit music education and animal rescues.

Watch QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT Perform Cover Of LED ZEPPELIN's 'Whole Lotta Love' In Dunedin, New Zealand
QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT played a cover version of the LED ZEPPELIN classic "Whole Lotta Love" during their concert last night (Monday, February 10) in Dunedin, New Zealand. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
This spring, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT will play their first European dates since the worldwide box office sensation that was the "Bohemian Rhapsody" film.
Last summer, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT rocked North America with 25 giant shows which drew universally ecstatic reviews — "it's loud, it's fun, and it's unforgettable" — and played to sold-out audiences totaling close to 400,000 spectators.
The all-new "Rhapsody" show, already hailed as "a marvel of technical advances," will arrive in Europe in late spring, as QUEEN original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor team up once more with longtime frontman Adam Lambert on lead vocals to perform shows across nine countries from late May into early July.
Over the "Rhapsody" tour, European audiences will, at last, have the chance to see the epic new show which has drawn awe and acclaim all through its North American run and became rock's hottest ticket of the year in the USA. Ever the masters of extravagant performance and sumptuous visuals, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT's newest production is again the work of Stufish Entertainment Architects' set designer Ric Lipson and lighting designer Rob Sinclair who both have a long-term association with QUEEN, including the band's 2017-2018 eye-popping "News Of The World"-inspired touring show.
Lipson describes the two-and-a-half-hour production as "a new chapter in the history of the band. Once again for them expanding the parameters of what a live music experience can be, this new show delivers the band's most spectacular yet, an innovative and interactive celebration of the continued power of QUEEN's music."
The tour comes at a time when QUEEN continues to ride high on the momentum of their box-office-busting, Oscar-winning "Bohemian Rhapsody" biopic, which has introduced their music to new audiences with record-breaking results. Apart from becoming the highest-grossing music biopic of all time, in the U.K., it is also No. 1 biggest-selling film of 2019 on home release.
QUEEN's original soundtrack to the film has remained high in the U.K. album chart ever since its November 2018 debut; in the U.S., it became the band's highest-charting album in 38 years, and QUEEN sold more albums in North America than any artist in the first half of 2019. The timeless and groundbreaking "Bohemian Rhapsody" video has reached a historic one billion views on YouTube, making it the most viewed music clip of the 20th Century. In addition, YouTube views of "Don't Stop Me Now" have passed the 500 million mark.
Once again completing the tour lineup are the band's long-term on-stage collaborator Spike Edney on keyboards, Neil Fairclough on bass and Tyler Warren on percussion.

MR. BUNGLE Joined By CRO-MAGS' HARLEY FLANAGAN For 'Malfunction' Performance In Brooklyn (Video)
MR. BUNGLE was joined by CRO-MAGS founder Harley Flanagan on stage during the Mike Patton-fronted band's concert Monday night (February 10) at Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, New York. Together, they performed a high-energy rendition of the CRO-MAGS classic "Malfunction", with Patton and Harley sharing lead vocals.
The Brooklyn concert took place five days after MR. BUNGLE played its first show in close to 20 years at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, California. Both gigs saw the Eureka-born band performing its 1986 demo in its entirety, and marked the first time these songs have been played live in over 30 years.
MR. BUNGLE's 2020 lineup consists of original members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton and Trey Spruance, along with Scott Ian (ANTHRAX, S.O.D.) and Dave Lombardo (DEAD CROSS, SLAYER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).
When the MR. BUNGLE reunion was first announced last year, Spruance said: "Ever since Trevor hatched 'The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny v.2' idea a few years back, Patton, Lombardo, he and I had each been incubating some idea of that egg. Lombardo called me one day and asked me to make some guitar demos so he could learn the songs. He had this generous idea to surprise the other guys with being totally ready to go with the tunes. It just so happened that I was in Eureka at the time. So, I found myself revisiting all of those riffs in the same goddamned town and in the same goddamned house where I recorded all the original guitars on that demo 33 years earlier. There was something about actually physically working out the mania of those riffs again at Dave Lombardo's request, in that environment — it just split my head open. It wasn't long before the train of destiny had picked up too much speed for any of us to jump off."
Added Dunn: "When we recorded that demo, we were 16 and 17 years old and we were absolutely serious about the music. At the time, we were living the deluge of '80s metal and absorbing every riff and every drum fill from every known band from Denmark to San Francisco. The recording and playing were amateurish (save for Trey's video-game-solos) but the schooled composition and spirit were solid. I always felt like this music held its own and deserved to be presented in a clearer and more defined package even if it meant being 33 years later."
Said Patton: "I remember writing riffs for this cassette in my parent's garage, with no heat, so I recorded in a sleeping bag for analog warmth, playing a one-stringed acoustic guitar that was piped into a ghetto blaster. Thank god I had Trevor and Trey to help decipher my rotten riffs into something intelligible!"
Commented Ian: "When Mike hit me up about this, my brain thought he was asking me if I wanted to come to a show, him knowing I am a HUGE BUNGLE fan. When I realized he actually meant for me to play guitar with them, it broke my brain; I was a giggly drooling mess. Somehow I pecked out Y E S on my keyboard and holy crap I'm playing in MR. BUNGLE. Seriously, it's an honor and a privilege to get to play with my favorite 'Mr.' band of all time."
Said Lombardo: "I don't know what was in the water in Eureka, California, but it certainly wasn't clean. This is going to be a ridiculously, insane band to play with and I am honored to have been asked to join the wrath."
The idea that Dunn, Patton and Spruance are being joined by their early musical heroes is not lost on the musicians.
Said Dunn: "They are a significant percentage of the 'Big Four,' all of which had a major impact on us. Aside from their obvious skills and — for crying out loud, INVENTION of this genre — there's nothing like being in a band with those whom which you have rapport. If we are going back to the source with this stuff we might as well go ALL THE WAY back."
Added Patton: "To have Scott and Dave with us on this suicide mission is more than an honor. THEY are a big part of the reason we wrote this stuff in the first place, and to realize it 30+ years later with these maestros is an absolute miracle… we can finally play this teenage nonsense correctly! A total catharsis for us."
Commented Spruance: "At our very first show, at the Bayside Grange Hall, Nov. 30, 1985, we played SLAYER's 'Chemical Warfare' and a S.O.D. cover. I mean, are you kidding?? We WORSHIPPED those guys! And now they're gonna PLAY in our band?"

LIMP BIZKIT's FRED DURST Nominated For 'Worst Director' RAZZIE AWARD
LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst is among the "Worst Director" nominees at the 2020 Razzie Awards. Also known as the Golden Raspberry Awards, the satirical annual event celebrates the "worst" films, actors, actresses and others in the industry from the past year.
Durst earned his nomination for his work on the movie "The Fanatic", which flopped spectacularly in theaters when it was releaed last August. On its first day, the film grossed a mere $3,153 from 52 theaters scattered across the U.S. for a location average of roughly $60. In a handful of theaters, it grossed $10 or less; the highest gross was $736 at the Arena Cinelounge in Hollywood.
"The Fanatic" stars John Travolta as an obsessive fan named Moose who stalks an action movie star. The movie was previously described as having the feeling of an independent thriller film, with Travolta's unassuming-turned-dangerous stalker reminiscent of Robin Williams's transformative performance in "One Hour Photo".
Reviewers hadn't been kind to "The Fanatic", with Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com giving the movie zero stars and writing: "'The Fanatic' hates fans. It hates actors. It hates tourists, shop owners, and servants. It really, really hates autistic people. And it hates you. It's a movie that thinks you're an idiot, someone who won't see through its shallow provocations, illogical behavior, and vile misanthropy."
Robert Abele of TheWrap wrote: "With no explanation for what the Moose's condition is — and boy, is what Travolta doing a choice — Durst and his main star have, rather than giving us a character, merely offered up a hapless, carnival figure of laughable madness, alternately impossible and improbable."
Variety wrote: "One hesitates to lay all the blame at Durst's doorstep, since by all accounts his first directorial feature 'The Education Of Charlie Banks' (2007) was a serious, creditable drama. But as helmer, producer, co-writer, concept originator and recording catalog self-promoter here, he merits the accusation of this typically rank dialogue morsel: 'Moose didn't just cross the line. He fuckin' nuked it.'"
"The Fanatic" has a 17% critic score from 58 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, an online review aggregation service that allows the public to score the movies alongside critics.
Travolta said that the LIMP BIZKIT frontman approached him with the idea of being in the film.
"I didn't know Fred could write this well, I didn't know he could direct as well, and he blew my mind," he told 11 Alive. "He knew this guy Moose that's actually loosely based on a real guy and he wrote it with me in mind. He just knew I could portray this guy."
Other "Worst Director" nominees this year are James Franco for "Zeroville", Adrian Grünberg for "Rambo: Last Blood", Neil Marshall for "Hellboy" and Tom Hooper for "Cats".
"The Fanatic" received two other nominations at the Razzies, with Travolta up for "Worst Actor" and the movie itself competing for "Worst Picture".
Durst's feature debut, 2007's "The Education Of Charlie Banks", was produced for $5 million but earned only $15,000 at the box office, although Durst won the Made In NY Narrative Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. For his second feature, "The Longshots", Durst teamed up with Ice Cube and Keke Palmer.

AXL ROSE: 'Make The White House Great Again'
Axl Rose has broken his three-month social media silence to once again bash the Trump administration.
The GUNS N' ROSES frontman took to his Twitter account on Monday to share a photo of a New Hampshire voter wearing a hat that reads "Make The White House Great Again."
Although Axl chose not to caption the picture, the response from other Twitter users was predictably mixed, with one person tweeting "Make Axl's Singing Great Again" and another adding "Make GNR great again." A third Twitter user wrote: "The only way to [make the White House great again] is to fumigate it. The current infestation is out of control, the cockroaches and snakes have taken over the premises."
Rose has been extremely vocal in his distaste for the current U.S. president, having taken to Twitter a number of times in the past few years to slam Trump, his administration and his policies.
Back in November 2016, Rose condemned then-President-elect Donald Trump's choice for U.S. attorney general, and berated Trump for demanding an apology from the cast of the Broadway show "Hamilton" after then-Vice President-elect Mike Pence was booed when he attended the musical. One month later, Rose invited fans at a GUNS N' ROSES concert in Mexico City to beat the crap out of a large piñata designed to look like Trump.
In January 2018, Axl blasted the Trump administration as the "gold standard of what can be considered disgraceful." Nine months later, he urged his fans to go with Democrats in the midterm elections that year.
"As far as I'm concerned anyone can enjoy GNR 4 whatever reason n' there's truth 2 the saying 'u can't choose your fans' n' we're good w/that," he tweeted at the time. "Having said that my personal position is that the Trump administration along w/the majority of Republicans in Congress n' their donors that support him 4 their own agendas r doing r nation a disservice."
"We have an individual in the WH that will say n' do anything w/no regard for truth, ethics, morals or empathy of any kind, who says what's real is fake n' what's fake is real. Who will stop at nothing 4 power feeding off the anger n' resentment he sows 24/7 while constantly whining how whatever doesn't go his way is unfair," Rose wrote.
"Most of us in America have never experienced anything this obscene at this level in r lifetimes n' if we as a country don't wake up n' put an end 2 this nonsense now it's something we definitely will all pay hard 4 as time goes on," he warned.
Also in November 2018, when Trump blamed the "costly" California wildfires on "gross mismanagement of the forests," adding "Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!", Rose responded, writing: "Um...actually...it's a lack of federal funding that's at the 'root' of the purported forest mismanagement. Only a demented n' truly pathetic individual would twist that around n' use a tragedy to once again misrepresent facts for attempted public/political gain at other's expense"
Earlier this month, GUNS N' ROSES announced a run of North American stadium dates this summer, starting on July 4 at Milwaukee's Summerfest and ending on August 26 in Missoula, Montana.
The Los Angeles-based band will also be the first rock act to play its hometown's new SoFi Stadium after it opens this July. The first performer to play the venue — the new home of the Los Angeles Rams — will be pop star Taylor Swift.

"I can’t tell you how proud I am about this group of songs," explains Jeff Ament. "As you know, we took our time and that benefited us taking more chances. 'Dance' was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration, mixing up the instrumentation and building a great song, and Ed writing some of my favorite words yet, around Matt’s killer drum pattern. Did I mention Mike’s insane guitar part and that Stone is playing bass on this one? We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting."

MÖRK GRYNING Sign To Season Of Mist; New Album On The Horizon
Season Of Mist announce the signing of the legendary Swedish black metal formation, Mörk Gryning. In the last years, the Swedes have returned to the stage triumphantly with live performances in Stockholm (Sweden), at Party San Open Air (Germany) and at Eindhoven Metal Meeting (the Netherlands). Now, they're ready to head to the studio to record a new album.
Regarding the signing, the band comments: "The sleepers are asleep no more. The dead are resting peacefully no more. After many years of slumber, the old flame of chaos has flared up once again to fill our hearts and souls.
"We are very proud to announce that our new album will be released under the banner of Season Of Mist. A label not only known for their extremely strong collection of artists, but also for their professional and honest work over many years.
"This album is a creation of Mörk Gryning's original members Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera with contributions from members who were part of us on later releases.
"Music wise, it returns to the melody based, straightforward style of the debut Tusen år har gått with hellish blast beats alternated with epic pagan rhythms and acoustic breaks. A furious assault upon the civilized world and a descent into the nether regions of the world beyond. Join us into the maelstrom!"
Stay tuned for updates.

THULCANDRA Release New Live Video For "Spirit Of The Night"; European Tour Starts Friday
Thulcandra have just released a new live video for their single, “Spirit Of The Night”, off their trailblazing album Fallen Angel’s Dominion, released in 2010 via Napalm Records.
The striking audiovisual was filmed at the band’s 15th anniversary show in Landshut in 2018. A melodic, yet charmingly aggressive mixture of death and black metal, directly inspired by the iconic sound of the 90s, makes Thulcandra’s performance an unforgettable. It’s an almost hypnotizing experience, tempting the audience to focus on the dark spectacle, its diversity and complexity on both a musical and textual level.
The skillfully constructed live video for “Spirit Of The Night” manages to showcase not only that range of Thulcandra’s sound, but also demonstrates the striking impression their performance leaves on the audience, proving the band’s talent to summon the darkest sounds and frame them with technical abilities.

Last month, Aldrich told Guitar Interactive Magazine about the forthcoming album from THE DEAD DAISIES: "The new record is kick-ass. [Glenn is] on fire. It's a different sound than anything he's done, maybe, before — definitely different for me. Of course, I was sorry to see John and Marco go, but Glenn is killing it. He's a legend and he is who he is. There's a reason why he's called the 'Voice Of Rock.' He brings it every day."
Aldrich, who played guitar for Hughes's solo band on tour in Europe, South America and Japan prior to joining THE DEAD DAISIES, said that it was "amazing" to reconnect with Glenn. "We were talking about doing some recording together maybe at some point; it just never happened," the guitarist said. "He got in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and then he got so busy with his 'Hughes Plays Deep Purple' [tour], [and] I was busy with THE DAISIES. But then something happened, and John Corabi wanted to have some free time to do his own thing, and Marco too. And [Lowy and the rest of THE DEAD DAISIES camp] started talking to Glenn, and they said, 'Hey, we're talking to Glenn Hughes.' I go, 'Man, that would be amazing.'"
Hughes told "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" at last month's NAMM show that THE DEAD DAISIES's new album is "a beautiful piece of music." He described the LP's musical direction as "classic rock," adding that "it's a groovy album. It's got a lot of melodies to it. It's what you can imagine with me joining them — what could have happened and what has happened. It's a very interesting piece of music."
Hughes went on to praise Lowy, saying that collaborating with THE DEAD DAISIES leader — who is also the son of billionaire Frank Lowy, the founder of one of the biggest retail groups in the world, Westfield — was a "wonderful" experience. "He's a studious guitar player," Glenn said. "He works his socks off. With Doug playing lead, David plays rhythm, it's a good combination with me playing the way I play."
Last August, THE DEAD DAISIES released "Righteous Days", the band's first song to feature Hughes.
According to Wikipedia, since the band's formation in 2012, THE DEAD DAISIES has featured two dozen different members (including "session" players and "temporary substitutes"), including drummer Brian Tichy (FOREIGNER, WHITESNAKE), GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus and GN'R keyboardist Dizzy Reed. The group has toured with the likes of AEROSMITH, KISS and BLACK STAR RIDERS.
Known as the "voice of rock," the 68-year-old Hughes is best known for fronting the Mk. III and Mk. IV lineups of DEEP PURPLE in the mid-1970s and for singing on BLACK SABBATH's 1986 album "Seventh Star". He was replaced by Ray Gillen after only six live performances with the band.
In 2009, Hughes formed BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION with blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa, keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, SONS OF APOLLO) and drummer Jason Bonham (BONHAM, FOREIGNER). Hughes recently told Midlands Metalheads Radio that the group will reunite to record its fifth album in January of 2021.

Back in December 2019, Five Finger Death Punch announced that guitarist Jason Hook "was taken to the emergency room where it was determined his gallbladder needed to be removed. Jason underwent surgery successfully but will have to remain in the hospital until his doctors determine he is fit to be discharged and travel home. Jason's healing is our #1 priority. As a result, the last three shows of this current tour will be postponed."
On January 20, Five Finger Death Punch resumed touring in Europe, with special guests Megadeth and opening act Bad Wolves. On February 4, the band issued the following statement:
"Hamburg Knuckleheads,
Due to unforeseen circumstances, our brother Jason Hook will not be able to perform tonight. He needs additional time for his recovery and must step back from the current tour in order to have the opportunity to do so. We discussed this as a band and Jason's well-being is our priority - health comes first.
It was Jason's express wish that we continue the tour so with Jason’s blessing we have invited our friend Andy James who has agreed to step in and finish the tour for Jason.
We are grateful for Andy stepping up and will continue to deliver the great show the fans deserve every night.
We've been having an incredible run with our friends in Megadeth and Bad Wolves so far, and the vibe of the tour has been amazing. We look forward to seeing all the German fans next and appreciate all of you joining us in wishing Jason a speedy recovery."

Israel's WALKWAYS Release Official Live Video For "Unbearable Days"
Israeli alternative metallers Walkways released their latest album, Bleed Out, Heal Out, on June 14th, 2019 through Nuclear Blast. Today, they release a new live video for the song "Unbearable Days", that was filmed at The Barby Club in Tel Aviv. Check it out below.
Bleed Out, Heal Out journeys through six chapters. It begins with a heart break and a deep disappointment, goes into a struggle with the urge to avenge and let a darker side take over, from there comes the chapter of release and unchaining from the burden of trauma. Then comes the step of letting someone new in to your life, the stage of loving again. Following that is a contemplation of the outside world - being horrified by our ways as human beings (wars, environmental pollution and animal abuse) and a strong desire to correct and evolve as one and a shout out to change as a whole.
To end the album, there is a recurring chapter of convergence due to the shock from the outside world, which is again flooded with great disappointment and a kind of despair from the current situation, but the deep desire to correct and transcend the internal and external chaos is always preserved.
Tracklisting:
"Till The End"
"Hell Born Shove (Impossible)"

TESTAMENT's CHUCK BILLY On 'Titans Of Creation' Album: 'It's Probably Some Of Our Best Work That We Ever Did'
TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy spoke to Australia's Heavy about the band's upcoming album, "Titans Of Creation", which will be released on April 3 via Nuclear Blast. The long-awaited follow-up to 2016 album "Brotherhood Of The Snake" was produced by Billy and guitarist Eric Peterson while Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios handled co-producing, recording and engineering. Andy Sneap was responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album. Eliran Kantor stepped up once again to create artwork for the cover of this release.
"I think it's probably some of our best work that we ever did," Chuck said (hear audio below). "I'd say the record might sound the best we ever did. I don't know what it was. Maybe all of us worked a little tighter and [spent] a little more time together [working on the album]; that probably had something to do with it. But it feels really good. The record came out really good."
Asked about the musical direction of the new TESTAMENT effort, Chuck said: "It's definitely fast. It's definitely a thrash record — with melody. I gave the vocals melody. Eric and them guys write fast, thrashy [music] with a lot of double bass, but I wanted to still keep my melody, still keep a groove. So it's really thrashy, but it still has hooks — it still has something that catches your ear. We're excited for it."
TESTAMENT has teamed up with EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL for "The Bay Strikes Back 2020" European tour. The trek kicked off on February 6 in Copenhagen, Denmark and is hitting 25 cities before concluding on March 11 in Hannover, Germany.
Last week, TESTAMENT announced a spring 2020 North American tour. The 30-date trek will kick off in Phoenix on April 20 and will make stops in Austin, Mexico, and Toronto before concluding in Anaheim on May 28. Joining them on the tour will be THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, MUNICIPAL WASTE and MESHIAAK.

DANNY DE LA ROSA - Former BABYLON A.D. Guitarist To Release Debut Album In Early 2020; "Acid Flame" Track Streaming
Danny De La Rosa has released the first single, "Acid Flame", off of his debut solo album, 12 Weekends, due out in early 2020. The single was co-produced with Marc Kapetan, and a static video for the track can be seen below. In addition to "Acid Flame", Danny is also releasing a gratuitous track titled "The Mirror".
"The inspiration of 'Acid Flame' came from the memories of trying to sleep when I had a fever or the flu. It sucks so bad and the nighttime is never ending," says Danny De La Rosa.
Pre-order / buy here.
From the very beginning, Danny De La Rosa has been drawn to play the melodies he hears constantly in his head. “There was something about a distorted guitar and melodies that caught my attention at a very early age. It subconsciously and consciously pulled me in.”
Music and Danny are magnets that just attract. Songwriter, self-taught guitarist Danny De La Rosa left the band Babylon A.D. in 2017 and began working on his own personal development: writing his own style of music, learning and playing the instruments and establishing his own brand of hard rock-pop.
It has always been Danny’s dream to establish his own sound. “Writing and recording is my passion. I constantly hum and have melodies in my head. I can’t wait to record a second album as I have it written already.”
It took twelve weekends of travel to record his music at the American Made Studios in Fresno, California. Hence, Danny’s debut solo album will be titled 12 Weekends and is due out in early 2020.
Danny De La Rosa has already established his directive as he auditioned and jammed with KISS when Ace Frehley left the band. In addition, while at Arista Records, Danny had three of the songs he wrote chosen by record mogul Clive Davis. All three charted brilliantly on the radio. Clearly, Danny De La Rosa’s passion for music will continue to keep growing.
When it comes to making music Danny De La Rosa is still learning and growing on his journey as he writes and records his brand and style; creating music that falls in between the realm of Cheap Trick and a little hard rock Beatles’esq’ sound.
Tracklisting:
"Acid Flame"
"Third Wheel Man"
"It's Alright It's OK"
"The Mirror"
"The Secret"
"You Bring Me Down"
"Leave It Alone"
"So Low"
"As Weak As I Am"
"Downtown Slide"
"It's Alright It's OK" (Borracho Version)

JOEY KRAMER Rejoins AEROSMITH On Stage In Las Vegas (Video)
Joey Kramer rejoined his AEROSMITH bandmates on stage last night (Monday, February 10) during the group's residency in Las Vegas.
The drummer played drums with Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford at the Park Theater in Vegas, which is where their residency shows are currently being held.
After a short film summing up AEROSMITH's career was shown on the screen, the curtain rose, with Tyler announcing, "On the drums, Mr. Joey Kramer," to cheers from the audience.
Several fan-filmed video clips of last night's concert can be seen below.
Kramer sued the rest of AEROSMITH last month in a bid to perform with this bandmates at two Grammy-related events. But a Massachusetts judge eventually ruled against him and the group played without Kramer.
After Kramer injured his shoulder last year, his drum tech filled in for a few gigs during AEROSMITH's residency. Kramer did, however, perform with the rest of AEROSMITH in July at the Twin Cities Summer Jam in Shakopee.
AEROSMITH has two more residency shows scheduled for this month.
In his 16-page complaint filed in Massachusetts state court, Kramer said the disability he suffered last year was minor, and insisted he was ready to return to the group's "lucrative" Las Vegas residency at the MGM Resorts a few months later, as well as its slate of "50th anniversary activities."
Tyler, Perry, Hamilton and Whitford later responded to Kramer's suit in a statement to People, saying Joey "has not been emotionally and physically able to perform with the band, by his own admission, for the last 6 months. We have missed him and have encouraged him to rejoin us to play many times but apparently he has not felt ready to do so. Joey has now waited until the last moment to accept our invitation, when we unfortunately have no time for necessary rehearsals during Grammys week. We would be doing a disservice to him, to ourselves and to our fans to have him play without adequate time to prepare and rehearse."
In a statement, Kramer said he was "extremely disappointed" with the judge's ruling.
"I knew filing a lawsuit was a bit of an uphill battle," the drummer said. "I can hold my head high knowing that I did the right thing — to fight for my right to celebrate the band’s success that I have dedicated the better part of my life to helping build."

THE BLACK CROWES' RICH ROBINSON Denies Turning Down JIMMY PAGE's Offer To Collaborate On New Music
THE BLACK CROWES guitarist Rich Robinson has refuted Steve Gorman's claim that he turned down an offer to write music with Jimmy Page.
In his book "Hard To Handle: The Life And Death Of The Black Crowes", Gormam said that he learned from Page that the legendary LED ZEPPELIN guitarist wanted to write songs with the Robinson brothers for what at the time was supposed to be THE BLACK CROWES' next record, but that Rich blew him off with a "No thanks! … We don't need more songs." "I was insulted," Page allegedly said to the drummer, who furiously called THE CROWES' manager and told him, "I'm driving to Connecticut, and I'm going to kill Rich in his home."
Speaking to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, Robinson said that there is no validity to Gorman's account. "Absolutely not true," Rich said. "I remember having conversations with Jimmy, telling him: 'Hey, if you ever wanted to make a record or do anything, I would love to help in any way I can.' Jimmy's a brilliant musician, a brilliant person. I loved playing with him."
He continued: "Jimmy Page wants to write songs for me, and I'm gonna say: 'You know what, Jimmy? LED ZEPPELIN was all right, but I'm not gonna do it'? It's the most absurd thing I've heard in my life."
In October 1999, Page teamed up with THE BLACK CROWES for a two-night performance of material from the LED ZEPPELIN catalogue and old blues and rock standards. A live album, "Live At The Greek", was recorded during these shows and released in February 2000. The set was dominated by LED ZEPPELIN tunes, along with a mix of classic blues nuggets and covers of FLEETWOOD MAC and Page's first group, THE YARDBIRDS. (Due to contractual obligations, no CROWES songs were included.)
Gorman is not involved in THE BLACK CROWES' upcoming reunion tour, which is scheduled to kick off on June 17 at Austin's Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin wrap on September 19 at the Forum in L.A. Joining Chris and Rich Robinson will be a all new lineup of THE CROWES featuring EARTHLESS guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, former TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND bassist Tim Lefebvre along with ONCE AND FUTURE BAND members Joel Robinow on keyboards and Raj Ojha on drums. | +1

Prog Metallers MYTH OF I To Release Debut Instrumental Album In April 2020; First Single "The Illustrator" Streaming
Formed in the fertile metal musician community found within the esteemed Berklee College of Music, Myth Of I arose from chance circumstances into a formidable act in progressive metal spheres. After recently signing with The Artisan Era, the Boston-based group is excited to announce the release of their self-titled debut album on Friday, April 10th.

Myth Of I - Myth Of I is strongly recommended for fans of groups such as Animals As Leaders, Scale The Summit, Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, The Faceless, and Cloudkicker.

Additionally, the band performed live for the first time ever its new song "California Love Song", from its latest album "Shock", plus "Tied To The Tracks" and "Forever Loving You". The performance was recorded and filmed in 4K high definition, bringing forth the band's newest live album "Five Man London Jam" as an homage to their critically acclaimed live acoustic album "Five Man Acoustical Jam".
"Five Man London Jam" will be released on March 27 on Blu-ray, 2LP vinyl, CD and digital. The Blu-ray includes a bonus interview with TESLA relecting on the 30th anniversary of "Five Man Acoustical Jam" and performing for the first time at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

11. Stir It Up
12. Into The Now
13. Love Song
An audio sample of "What You Give", taken from "Five Man London Jam", is available at this location.
Issued in July 1990, TESLA's stripped down "Five Man Acoustical Jam" was an instant success that coincided with the rise of MTV's unplugged format. The set has since gone platinum in the U.S.
Last year, TESLA singer Jeff Keith told Canada's The Metal Voice about "Five Man London Jam": "It was done at Abbey Road studios [in London, England]. How cool is that? It's been 30 years. We had fun doing it 30 years ago, and we had fun when we were over at Abbey Road studios, where THE BEATLES and a whole lot more other great bands have recorded. And it was awesome. We just did it live [with] a little audience there. Once again, [it was] a live performance. And that's my favorite thing to do — performing live… I like it when it's live, because you don't even realize it. We're just having fun performing songs and they're gonna make a live record of it, and have some extra footage to put in there. We had a great time; we had a fantastic time. It was a blast."
Asked about the setlist for TESLA's performance at Abbey Road, Keith said: "Well, it was requested that we do some stuff to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of 'Five Man Acoustical Jam', so we did five or six songs from that. And then we did some of our new songs, [from] the record that we made with Phil Collen from DEF LEPPARD [2019's 'Shock'], which was fantastic. So we've got some new recordings there — it's new recordings of the 30-years-ago celebration — and we had fun with it. Just like we did 30 years ago, we had fun with it again."
Regarding the original "Five Man Acoustical Jam" recording, Jeff said: "It was just like an accident waiting to happen, and it was a great accident. Not an accident, but… We had been on tour with MÖTLEY CRÜE, and we had to jam an acoustical set that we did for, I think, the Bammies, the Bay Area Music Awards. So we decided, 'Hey, instead of sitting on two nights off in a row, we'll just find a club that'll let us come in and play our songs acoustically and have fun with it,' and that's what we did. And it was feeling so good, the decision was made with Geffen Records, 'Let's just record the whole night.' And we went to a radio station — me, Frank [Hannon] and Tommy [Skeoch] — and we played 'Signs' and the phones were ringing off the hook. I think it's our biggest-selling record to date. But it was all just having fun."
TESLA is continuing to tour in support of "Shock", which was released in March 2019 via UMe. The follow-up to 2014's "Simplicity" was produced and co-written by Collen. | 0

NEW FOUND GLORY Announces 'Forever + Ever x Infinity' Album, Releases 'Greatest Of All Time' Single
NEW FOUND GLORY will release its tenth studio album, "Forever + Ever x Infinity", on May 29 via Hopeless Records. The band has put together a quintessential record, supremely catchy with sing-along anthems, trademark breakdowns, and sweetly poignant lyrics.
"This is the record our fans have been waiting for us to make," guitarist Chad Gilbert says, "The old now feels new and fresh. It was a blast finding ourselves again."
Fans can check out the first taste of new music from the pop-punk legends with "Greatest Of All Time". This song dives beyond the surface and into the depths of love, rolling through ups and downs, and riding through the fear to keep going through failure. Lines like "I think we are what we've been waiting for" tug at the heartstrings of anyone that has struggled, worked, and made it out the other side. NEW FOUND GLORY has always been about this; life will be difficult, but these difficulties make us into stronger, bolder people, and celebrating the triumphs in life make it all worth it.
Combining punk, hardcore, and post-hardcore with emotional lyrics and melody is nothing new for the band that epitomizes heartfelt optimism with DIY work-ethic and spirit. But never has this been more evident than this 15-song barn burner of a record. Set at a blistering pace, songs like "Shook By Your Shaved Head" and "Nothing To Say" rip the listener out of their monotonous day-to-day and drain away all the pressure and self-doubt that manifests inside. When frontman Jordan Pundik sings, "You've gotta take your life back. You've got so much more to give. That's what I say to myself when I feel like giving into the shame I feel. Won't let it keep me standing still," you can't help jumping up, throwing a fist in the air, and singing the words out at the top of your lungs. This is what NEW FOUND GLORY has always been about — inspiring people to not be afraid of the odds, to lift each other up, and get up again.
After more than 20 yars of being a band, ten studio albums, one live album, two EPs, and four cover albums, NEW FOUND GLORY's ethos has never wavered; they always strive to be the friend you always need and who always understands you. With "Forever + Ever x Infinity", the band created an album that is 100 precent NEW FOUND GLORY.
NEW FOUND GLORY is Jordan Pundik (lead vocals), Chad Gilbert (guitar), Ian Grushka (bass guitar) and Cyrus Bolooki (drums).

SEPULTURA's ANDREAS KISSER: 'We Are Not Here To Please Everyone'
SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has told Dead Rhetoric in a new interview that his band never considered calling it quits after the departure of founding guitarist/vocalist Max Cavalera in 1996. "No, we never thought about that," he said. "Changing a singer is always difficult — especially Max who was a very strong personality, image. Of course, bringing Derrick [Green] in, a totally different guy, a black guy in the metal scene, which is very rare.
"We are not here to please everyone — if you don't like it, fine," he continued. "If you like it, fine. We are not here as a church or a religion to indoctrinate people or make people believe in it what I believe. This is art. Somehow it's going to touch people in a good and a bad way. The influence is there.
"People talk shit about SEPULTURA, but they are still talking about SEPULTURA, you know? We never thought about pleasing anyone. Who is the fan of SEPULTURA? It's very hard to create a stereotype of a SEPULTURA fan, you know? We have grandmothers to little kids that like SEPULTURA. Some people like a specific period of time, or an album, or everything. Thirty-five years of a band, so it isn't like an IRON MAIDEN fan who you can see from far away. Our albums show that we are very diverse and we are not really locking into a specific thing. We do music because we like to do music."
SEPULTURA's classic lineup fell apart in 1996 with the exit of Max after the rest of the band split with his wife Gloria as their manager. His brother, drummer Igor Cavalera, stuck around with the group for another 10 years before leaving SEPULTURA and re-teaming with Max in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.
Although SEPULTURA has maintained a diehard fanbase in all parts of the world throughout the band's three-and-a-half-decade-plus history, Max-era albums "Roots" and "Chaos A.D." were by far SEPULTURA's most commercially successful, having both been certified gold in the U.S. for sales in excess of five hundred thousand copies.
SEPULTURA's new album, "Quadra", will be released on February 7 via Nuclear Blast Records.

DOUG ALDRICH Says GLENN HUGHES Is 'Killing It' On THE DEAD DAISIES' New Album
Doug Aldrich spoke to Guitar Interactive Magazine about the forthcoming album from THE DEAD DAISIES, the hard rock "collective" founded by Australian musician and businessman David Lowy. The group's fifth LP was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in the south of France and is due on April 24. The follow-up to 2018's "Burn It Down", will be the band's first to feature Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION), who joined the group last year as its new bassist and vocalist, replacing John Corabi (MÖTLEY CRÜE) and Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY).
Aldrich said (see video below): "The new record kick-ass.
Asked about THE DEAD DAISIES' plans for the rest of the year, Doug said: "We're almost done with the record. It's gonna start getting mixed. I'm really excited about it, obviously. The songs are top — really good. I think it's gonna be one of my favorite records I was a part of. And then we start touring in April."

SLAYER's PAUL BOSTAPH: 'Postmortem' + 'Hate Worldwide' Drum-Cam Footage From Chicago RIOT FEST
Drum-cam footage of SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph performing the songs "Postmortem" and "Hate Worldwide" during the band's September 14, 2019 concert at the Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois can be seen below.
SLAYER played its final concert on November 30, 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles.
Bostaph, who was previously SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band, rejoined SLAYER in 2013 after the group's original drummer, Dave Lombardo, was effectively fired from the band due to a contract dispute with the other members of the veteran California-based thrash metal act.
Several years ago, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King told Fuse about Bostaph: "Paul, I mean, he's a machine. I don't worry about him at all. He never would have been out of SLAYER if he didn't quit twice. It was never over anything personal — he was always my friend — so it was very easy for him to come back and be a part again."
Speaking to Loudwire about Bostaph's contributions to SLAYER's latest album, "Repentless", King said: "I think it's just making the unit whole, more than anything. Of course, Paul can play the shit out of the drums. I didn't realize — and I don't mean this in a detrimental way to Paul — I never realized Paul had so many niche SLAYER fans who are just Bostaph fans; I didn't realize that, and a lot of people had mentioned that to me since Paul has been working on the record. And I think that's great. I used to say 'God Hates [Us All]' was his 'Reign In Blood' — Bostaph's. The new one is his 'Reign In Blood'. The new one's… I would play any song live." | +7

KISS's PAUL STANLEY On Life After 'End Of The Road' Tour: 'The Band Isn't Necessarily Disappearing Into Thin Air'
In a brand new interview with C-Ville, KISS frontman Paul Stanley clarified that the band's ongoing "End Of The Road" tour does not necessarily mean that the group will go away entirely.
"It's important to note that this is the end of touring," he explained. "The band isn't necessarily disappearing into thin air. It's just reached a time where touring, and doing 100 shows in seven months, which is what we've done so far, is just… it's just too demanding and time-consuming, when there's other things to do in life."
In a separate chat with The Daily Progress, Stanley said that he is already making plans for his time after the KISS tour ends. "I can walk and chew gum at the same time," he said with a chuckle. He also confirmed that he recently completed work on the debut album from his R&B band SOUL STATION.
"End Of The Road" kicked off in January 2019 in Vancouver and resumed on February 1 in Manchester, New Hampshire. The last concert of the trek will take place on July 17, 2021 in New York City.
KISS's current lineup consists of original members Stanley and Gene Simmons, alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).
Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, drummer Peter Criss and lead guitarist Ace Frehley, KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.
In its 46-year career, KISS has accumulated 23 gold and platinum albums — more than any other U.S. band. | +3

'Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story' To Receive Physical/Digital Release In April
"Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story" has today announced a physical and digital release date of April 24 via MVD on DVD, Deluxe DVD, 4K and HD. New bonus material from the documentary is now available, as well as a question-and-answer session with director Adam Dubin (BEASTIE BOYS "Fight For Your Right To Party" and "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn") at RollingStone.com.
Pre-order "Murder In The Front Row" here.
"Murder In The Front Row" premiered in spring 2019 during SF Doc Fest before embarking on a run of screening dates across at Alamo Drafthouses, art-house cinemas, music venues, and film festivals across the U.S. and abroad. The film garnered praise from publications such as The Wire, The Playlist and San Francisco Chronicle. It made Artform's "Best Of 2019" list, which opined, "Dubin's film is a visceral document of the scene's blistering early-'80s heyday. Come for the warp-speed lickery; stay for the sense of community that transcends genre and time."
"Murder In The Front Row" contains over fifty interviews with various metal stalwarts, including METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, TESTAMENT and DEATH ANGEL. It tells larger-than-life stories through a mix of first-person interviews, animation, and narration by comedian Brian Posehn. Narratively, "Murder In The Front Row" follows the story of a group of young kids in Northern California with a shared passion for heavy rock bands like UFO, IRON MAIDEN and MOTÖRHEAD.
"These are just good stories, and they are very human stories," Dubin said. "All these bands were mainly from England, and they never really toured the West Coast, so these young people started creating their own music, starting their own fanzines, booking clubs and trading tapes. These were people who were adamant about music and the bands, but also each other."
During the interview with Rolling Stone, Dubin explained what he hopes viewers will take away from the documentary. "I feel that 'Murder In The Front Row' is a first-hand look at an important music scene on par with the blues explosion in swinging London in the 1960s or New York City punk in the 1970s," he said. "The film is musical but also historical. One thing that I noticed when I attended screenings of the movie was that parents who had grown up loving metal music brought their kids as a sort of metal history lesson. That’s a great thing! I hope that people will use 'Murder In The Front Row' as a way of connecting with the music and each other. In a way, that's what the Bay Area scene was all about!"
