Left-field metal luminaries Enslaved have revealed the next audiovisual gem taken from their forthcoming Cinematic Tour 2020 live releases. As part of their 30th anniversary revelries, the band has today premiered a live video for their single "Fenris". A classic track from their early arsenal - though black metal to its core, "Fenris" nevertheless hinted at their kosmische obsessions that lurked behind the curtain.
This performance of 'Fenris' is taken from their upcoming live release Chronicles of the Northbound (Cinematic Tour 2020), which sees Enslaved fly through a career spanning entirely fan-voted set of favourites. It is one part of their four new live album/DVD Cinematic Tour 2020 collection due to be released on June 25th.
Enslaved's Grutle Kjellson comments: "'Fenris' was perhaps the first song we wrote that got a massive encore demand, and before we actually had a lot of songs to pick from, we even played it twice during a set… haha. So, since all the songs on the Chronicles of the Northbound set was handpicked and voted for by our fans, it wasn’t a big shock that the grand old wolf was among the chosen ones.
'Fenris' has been present on many of our setlists for pretty close to 30 years now, and it is still a great song for both ourselves to perform and for the audience to absorb. It’s a very energetic song, and its lyrical concept deals with letting the energy flow naturally without trying to enslave (bish!) it. The consequences can be fatal if you keep the wolf in captivity for too long. Let loose your inner wolf, the inevitable tide, and enjoy!"
The Cinematic Tour 2020 release features four new live albums/DVDs with audio and visuals taken from their digital performances in 2020.
- The Rise Of Ymir (Verftet Online Festival 2020)
- Chronicles of the Northbound (Cinematic Tour 2020)
- Below The Lights (Cinematic Tour 2020)
- Utgard - The Journey Within (Cinematic Tour 2020)
The releases will be available via the following formats:
- Wooden Boxset (limited edition 300 copies - handcrafted, personally named & numbered)
- Splatter Vinyl (limited edition 300 copies)
- 4x CD/DVD boxset (limited edition 1000 copies)
- 4x DVD (limited edition 1000 copies)
- digital albums
All formats include a 4 movies download card.
Says the band: "Our will to keep moving regardless of weather and surroundings could be our Norwegian West-coast heritage (you know, from when there was only potatoes and no oil and certainly no reality-TV; Norwegians were once quite tough people), and is perhaps our greatest forte. That; and being surrounded by professionals that genuinely care about this old ship of a band. Put that together and you get the unlikely success of the Cinematic Tour of 2020. To see it materialize further into these wonderfully sounding and magically packaged releases is the Multiverse’s way of telling us to keep moving, creating and performing. No matter what idiotic state the world might be in. So be it.
"We are so stoked about how these Cinematic Tour 2020 releases turned out. The crown jewel for old vinyl collectors like ourselves has got to be the wooden box - handmade, numbered and named individually. That is simply... metal!"

Melancholic metal band Sombria released a new single and music video. The track is a cover of Schiller's "Tired" which is found on their Sehnsucht album.
The band comments: "Tired' is a unique and very powerful song originally created by Schiller, containing a dramatic and deeply emotional background. This is what we had in mind working on this song. Having a big respect towards Schiller’s music, we decided to bring this piece closer to our music genre, emphasizing the melancholy and the hidden 'sorrow' that surrounds it.
Also, we took the opportunity to add our own message through the music video, highlighting the sensation of agony and despair that so many of us meticulously hide for all kind of reasons. Our identity is our most sacred strength in life, it’s a shell hiding our self-esteem, individuality and qualities that is the reason we need to protect it, feel proud and flaunt it!
This video is dedicated to all the unique souls that feel oppressed and frightened to express themselves freely."
Sombria is a dark / melancholic metal project formed by singer/songwriter Dimi De San who works under the name Valentina Devin and guitarist/composer Raven Seven. The band has an international line-up featuring members from Norway, Greece & Mexico. Their critically acclaimed debut album. Chirographon Dei, was released on late 2020 by Finnish record label Inverse Records.
Chirographon Dei is Sombria's debut full length album consisting of nine songs, recorded, mixed and mastered by Raven Seven in his studio. All songs were composed by Raven Seven, the lyrics were written by Dimi De San.

Following a year of isolating, yet creatively prolific quarantine, Maryland heavy rock band, Savage Hands, have returned with an emotionally riveting new single, titled "Love No More". The song is accompanied by a beautifully shot video that can be viewed below.
Commenting on the single and video, the band states: "'Love No More' is a track that comes straight from the soul. A broken feeling from a loss in life, a heartbreak, or being afraid become vulnerable again. The lyrics dramatically portray the feelings of what one may think of themselves while going through pain such as mentioned. The video basically portrays falling in and out of a nightmare. The dream sequence portion of the video represents the mind trying to take over. We used the black tears to represent a feeling of pure sadness, but since the color black holds little to no emotion, we thought it was a powerful symbolic representation of feeling empty."

In the video below, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash describes how AmpliTube 5 is "so damn easy" and "sounds amazing" and how he uses it all the time for demoing, writing, and recording.
Slash knows AmpliTube is the real deal, he uses it all the time, and AmpliTube 5 has taken it to a new level. Slash says: "It was great to begin with, but it has gotten even better."
AmpliTube Slash puts you in front of some killer rigs. Want to rock Slash's rig? Now you can with AmpliTube Slash, one of the great signature collections inside AmpliTube custom shop. Slash's tone is instantly recognizable and can now be yours. Play through a rock icon's pedals and amplifiers, all from the convenience of your personal playing space — your studio.
AmpliTube Slash is a suite of Slash's signature guitar effects, amps and cabs that he uses on tour and in the studio. IK Multimedia worked closely with Slash to recreate his rigs perfectly and Slash says we nailed it. Now you can play and record with the exact sounds that make the legend.
Slash joined GUNS N' ROSES in 1985 in Los Angeles and quickly rose to international fame by the summer of 1987 with the release of the band's debut LP, "Appetite for Destruction", which has sold over 30 million copies and became one of the best-selling rock LPs of all time.
Slash has amassed album sales of over 100 million copies, garnered a Grammy Award and seven Grammy nominations and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Time magazine named Slash No. 2, behind Jimi Hendrix, on its "The Ten Best Electric Guitar Players of All Time" list. Slash helped create signature sounds like the guitar riff on No. 1 hits for GUNS N ROSES, "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome To The Jungle". After leaving the band, Slash went on to critical acclaim with SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and global success with the supergroup VELVET REVOLVER. Slash's self-titled biography, critically well-received, climbed the bestseller list in both the U.S. and U.K., hitting No. 8 on the New York Times Bestsellers List. Slash landed on the top of the charts with his first solo album, "Slash" (2010) which featured Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and more. Slash also released "Nothing Left To Fear" (2013) the first-ever motion picture he co-produced from Slasher Films, his film/TV production company.
RAMMSTEIN singer Till Lindemann will release a new solo single, "Ich Hasse Kinder" (English translation: "I Hate Kids"), on June 1. The first teaser for the song's official Serghey Grey-directed music video can be seen below.
Earlier this month, Lindemann released a music video for the orchestral version of his latest solo single, "Lubimiy Gorod", sung entirely in Russian, for the original motion picture "Devyatayev", which came out on April 29. Translated as "Beloved Town", the piano-led ballad was composed by Yevgeniy Dolmatovsky (lyrics) and Nikita Bogoslovsky. It was originally performed by Mark Bernes in 1939.
"Devyatayev", directed by Timur Bekmambetov, is about the Soviet pilot Mikhail Devyatayev, who was captured by Germany during World War II. He leads an escape from a concentration camp on the island of Usedom in the Baltic Sea by hijacking an aircraft.
LINDEMANN, the project featuring vocalist Till and Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN), released a concert film, "Live In Moscow", on May 21 on Blu-ray. The set includes professionally filmed video footage of LINDEMANN's March 15, 2020 performance at Moscow, Russia's VTB Arena.
Last November, Lindemann and Tägtgren confirmed that they were ending their collaboration on the LINDEMANN project.
LINDEMANN's second album, "F & M", was released in November 2019. The follow-up to 2015's "Skills In Pills" was once again produced and mixed by Tägtgren.
"Skills In Pills" reached gold status in Germany and was entirely in English. On the second opus, Lindemann went back to singing exclusively in German.
LINDEMANN had received some criticism due to its use of pornography during its second album cycle, with the music video for "Platz Eins" described by one site as "full-on art porn — slick and stylish, weird and experimental, and definitely X-rated."
This past February, RAMMSTEIN keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz confirmed that the band recorded a new studio album during the coronavirus pandemic.
Last October, RAMMSTEIN revealed that it had returned to La Fabrique studios in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in the south of France. At the time, the band wrote in a social media post: "Sadly no tour this year - but it's great to be back in the studio!"
RAMMSTEIN's seventh, untitled album came out in May 2019 via UME/Spinefarm in Europe and Caroline Records in the U.S. The band's first studio disc since 2009's "Liebe Ist Für Alle Da" debuted at No. 1 on the album charts in 14 countries and was the band's tenth No. 1 in Germany.
In 2018, legendary TWISTED SISTER vocalist and pop culture pillar Dee Snider turned the heavy music world on its axis with his transformative album, "For The Love Of Metal". Produced by HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta, the album re-cemented Dee's undeniable prowess with its modernized mastery and take-no-prisoners attitude. Three years later, with one of the most collectively tumultuous times society has ever experienced behind him, Snider triumphantly returns with his fifth full-length album, "Leave A Scar", due out July 30 via Napalm Records.
Once again produced by Jasta with co-production, mixing and mastering by drummer Nick Bellmore, "Leave A Scar" sees Snider & Co. continuing in the invigorated direction of "For The Love Of Metal", infusing a dose of classic heavy metal flavor that longtime fans will rush to embrace.
In celebration of the album's announcement, Snider has unleashed the album's first single, the charging track "I Gotta Rock (Again)", accompanied by a new music video. Channeling his years as one of music's most respected vocalists while harnessing modern flair, Snider delivers a headbanging anthem of lifelong dedication to heavy metal — no matter what!
Snider says about "I Gotta Rock (Again)": "'I Gotta Rock (Again)' is the starting gun for this album and the driving motivation behind me returning to the studio to record 'Leave A Scar'. At the end of 2019, I had felt my recording and live performing was over, but I didn't announce it to the world. I mentally had decided I was done. But the state of things in 2020 had other plans for me. Between COVID and the political state around the globe, I found myself yearning (yes, I yearn) to get back in the studio. In the immortal words of Ice Cube, 'I got somethin' to say!'"
Like a scar itself, "Leave A Scar" is an illuminating plentitude of angst etched in time — serving as a musical refuge and expressive output for Dee. But in turn, this auditory time capsule written to express the anger, unease and pain he experienced during lockdown emerges as not only blisteringly heavy, but relentlessly powerful. Each of the 12 tracks on "Leave A Scar" not only further bolster Snider's position as one of the most celebrated frontmen of all time, showcasing that his vocal delivery and commanding swagger is as strong as ever, but that he is nowhere near stopping.
Heads will bang within seconds of the hard-charging opening notes of ultra-catchy album starter and lifer anthem "I Gotta Rock (Again)", instantly setting the stage for the non-stop onslaught of metallic mainstays to come. Tracks like the brutal "Time To Choose" — featuring the primed guest vocal attack of CANNIBAL CORPSE's George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher — and mosh-ready "The Reckoning" showcase the album's heavy assault, without sacrificing the harmonic goodness evident on tracks like the unrelenting, hooky thrasher "All Or Nothing More" and melodic, metalcore inspired "In For The Kill". Energetic single of strength "Down But Never Out" encapsulates the chunky riffage and driving drums palpable throughout the album, while searing "Before I Go" provides one of the album's most massive, memorable choruses and chilling lyrics. The album closes with victorious ballad "Stand", a call for listeners to take a stand and make their voices heard. If "For The Love Of Metal" ignited Snider's eminent surge into a new era — "Leave A Scar" sets it ablaze.
Snider says about "Leave A Scar": "By the end of 2020, I knew I not only had to get back into the studio, but for the first time since the '90s, I wanted — no, needed — to be a part of the writing process. I reached out to my producer Jamey Jasta and told him I was ready to make another record. 'Leave A Scar' is filled with messages to and for the silent voices in the world who need someone to speak out on their behalf. This is my purpose."
Jasta says regarding working with Snider again: "Getting to work with Dee again has been incredible! The power and range in his vocals on this album really shine. Not only is he an American treasure and staple in the rock/metal community, he's a truly original voice and talent like no other. Combine that with the metallic prowess of the Bellmore bros + Russell Pzütto and Nick Petrino, you get a rockin' metal recipe that even the most 'Dee-hard' SMF'ers will surely love!"
Earlier this week, ATREYU members Brandon Saller (vocals), Dan Jacobs (guitar) and Travis Miguel (guitar) performed an acoustic version of their song "Warrior" for the listeners of the Tucson rock radio station KFMA. You can now watch video of their performance below.
"Warrior" is taken from ATREYU's upcoming album, "Baptize", which is due on June 4 via Spinefarm Records. The album version of the track features a guest appearance by BLINK-182 drummer Travis Barker.
Regarding how the Barker collaboration came about, Brandon told Detroit's WRIF radio station: "That came really organically. John Feldmann, who produced the album — we've been making records with him for over a decade, and this is the third record we've done with him. He works really closely with Travis on a lot of [things] — he's done many of the BLINK records, and does a lot of projects with Travis. So [Travis] is kind of in and out of the house pretty often, like a couple of times a week. Just, like, 'What up, Trav?' He'll walk by and he's talking to John, and then he leaves.
"When 'Warrior' came up, I had the concept of wanting to do a really big bridge that I wanted to feel like you were mid-bleachers at a high school football game — that energy of the drums and that kind of power," Saller continued. "And I'm not a technically trained marching [band player]. I was never in a marching band; I never was a rudiment guy. I never did that. I just wanted to be like Animal from The Muppets and beat up drums. So I was, like, 'I don't wanna try and fake this, 'cause it's not gonna sound how it's supposed to. I wanna get someone that's real.' And, obviously, Travis is so good at that; he kills that whole realm. So he was stoked to do it. He came in and just laid down a bunch of layers on layers on layers, and it sounds like I wanted it to — like you're in the middle of a football game… A song like 'Warrior', with the subject matter too, sonically, it needed to match the power of the lyric."
"Baptize" marks ATREYU's first album since the departure of vocalist Alex Varkatzas last September. The LP showcases ATREYU's current lineup consisting of Saller focusing completely on singing after previously sharing lead vocals with Varkatzas for most of the band's two-decade-plus existence. Sitting behind the kit is Saller's HELL OR HIGHWATER bandmate Kyle Rosa, who had filled in for Saller on drums in 2019 after Varkatzas bowed out of the band's European tour while dealing with serious back and hernia issues.
ATREYU previously stated about "Warrior": "'Warrior' is song about persistence and never giving up. We hope this song can be the puzzle piece that helps people realize that we ALL have the capacity for greatness. Sometimes, greatness can exist in the shadows and lives buried under negativity, trauma, or anxiety. 'Warrior' is about searching through all of that endless darkness to finally find the sunrise."
MÖTLEY CRÜE's Vince Neil joined SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE on stage last night (Wednesday, May 26) at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, Florida to perform a cover version of the LED ZEPPELIN classic "Rock And Roll".
Earlier today, Hagar shared a photo of him and Neil at the gig, and he wrote in an accompanying caption: "look who showed up the second night in Orlando to sit in on LED ZEPPELIN's rock 'n' roll. two great shows thank you orlando #vinceneil #florida #livemusic #thecircle #singers".
SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE kicked off a five-date tour of Florida on Sunday (May 23) at Key West, Florida's Coffee Butler Amphitheater.
Earlier this month, MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was officially postponed until 2022.
"The Stadium Tour" was originally scheduled to take place last summer but was pushed back to this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The trek will now launch on June 16, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia and run through September 7, 2022 in San Francisco, California.
When it happens, "The Stadium Tour" will mark the CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. CRÜE toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017 — but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts have hit the road together for an extended tour.
MÖTLEY CRÜE's 2019 biopic "The Dirt" depicts his 1984 drunk-driving accident that killed HANOI ROCKS drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley and seriously injured two others. It also shows Neil's firing from MÖTLEY CRÜE in 1992, only for his bandmates to rally behind him in 1995 when his four-year-old daughter, Skylar, died of cancer. (He rejoined the group in 1997.)
SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has released a "pop-up" version of the official music video for his single "Samantha's Gone". This time around, Corey invited his friends to join him on-screen, including Tom Sandoval of Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules", actor Dean Cameron ("Summer School", "Ski School", "Straight Outta Compton"), STEEL PANTHER, plus actor Greg Grunberg, Ace Von Johnson, Travis Miguel and Jonah Nimoy.
About the visual, Taylor told Bravo's "The Daily Dish": "The video for 'Samantha's Gone' served two purposes: making fun of so-called 'indie rock' bands and getting all my friends together to hang out and have a good time. We all went back and forth between having fun and social distancing. Watching the first 'band' was great, then being fired from our OWN song in favor of STEEL PANTHER was the icing on the cake."
Taylor recently made history as he reached No. 1 at Active Rock Radio with his powerful single "Black Eyes Blue". The achievement put Taylor in a class all his own, making him the first artist in the history of the format to reach No. 1 with three separate projects, following chart-topping efforts from SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR.
"CMFT" made impressive debuts on charts around the world in October, entering at No. 1 on Billboard's Current Hard Rock Albums chart, while claiming No. 2 on Current Rock Albums, No. 6 on Vinyl Albums, and No. 9 on the Top Albums charts. Furthermore, "CMFT" landed Top 10 on the official album charts in Australia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with Top 20 debuts in the United Kingdom, Finland and Japan (international chart).
Featured in Rolling Stone's "Fall Album Preview 2020," "CMFT" has been garnering widespread critical applause, with Forbes affirming, "Corey Taylor's singing is undeniably the best it's ever been. From SLIPKNOT's last album to his new solo material, Taylor is easily among the best sounding rock singers alive." Kerrang! raved, "Corey Taylor certainly couldn't have predicted how important a sense of uninhibited joy would be on his debut solo effort, it's just what 2020 needs — and, even more importantly, exactly what he delivers." The Daily Beast attested, "'CMFT' finds the singer broadening his horizons and showing off his considerable versatility," while Stereogum noted, "Corey Taylor's lived several lives in the span that it takes most of us to push through just one, and it's clear that he cherishes every experience he's had so far." New York magazine added that "CMFT" "bridges his vast tastes and influences, dabbling in punk rock, metal, reflective acoustic tunes, plaintive piano ballads, and hip-hop, with Taylor's power-house vocals and introspective lyrics acting as a guide."
"CMFT" is highlighted by the singles "Culture Head", "HWY 666", "CMFT Must Be Stopped" (featuring Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie), and the Active Rock radio hit "Black Eyes Blue". Taylor also hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Songwriters chart following the unprecedented debut of "Black Eyes Blue" and "CMFT Must Be Stopped", the latter of which has racked up more than four million YouTube views for its star-studded music video. Furthermore, Taylor debuted the pummeling "Culture Head" during WWE's NXT broadcast on the USA network, illuminating yet another facet of "CMFT" and showcasing the broad spectrum of this fiery and fearless rock 'n' roll opus, as Taylor touches on lifelong influences ranging from hard rock to classic rock, punk rock to hip-hop. 14-time world champion and EVP of global talent strategy and development at WWE, Triple H, also shared a WWE exclusive performance of Taylor and his band tearing through the MOTÖRHEAD classic "Ace Of Spades".
"CMFT" has been a long time coming for Taylor, with newly written tracks alongside some dating back to his teens. Recorded at The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston and his band — Christian Martucci (guitar), Zach Throne (guitar), Jason Christopher (bass), and Dustin Schoenhofer (drums) — the album traces a wild and exhilarating roadmap through Taylor's musical psyche.
Earlier in the month, Taylor kicked off the "CMFTour". The run features Taylor and his band performing for fans socially distanced and following state recommended health guidelines.
Modern metal powerhouse Living Dead Girl has revealed a video for “Poltergeist,” the haunting fourth single from the forthcoming Exorcism debut.
“This song is very different from the first three singles, and we love the ‘90s industrial vibe,” says vocalist Molly Rennick. “The music video is the perfect visual to accompany the song, and I’m really in love with how it turned out. The creepy horror movie aesthetic combined with the choir vocals make for a video that people are telling me gives them chills - the exact reaction I hoped for!”

On Exorcism’s 11 banging tracks, Rennick channels her inner “goth girl gone bad” attitude. From the raging, down-tuned riffs of the title track and “Worship Me,” to the infectious, singalong chorus of “Villain,” to the enticing, taunting melodies of “Beautiful” and “Alive,” Rennick commands your full attention.

Formed in 2017, Living Dead Girl’s style is a unique combination of goth-inspired heavy metal meets fellow Canadian frontwoman Avril Lavigne, possessing an amalgam of genres including rock, metal, industrial, goth, pop and punk rock. The music perfectly encapsulates Rennick’s personality, which she admits is a dichotomy of “one wears baby pink and Hello Kitty and listens to pop music, and the other a goth girl in fishnet stockings who listens to dark heavy metal.” The 21-year-old Rennick’s amazing vocal range sees her seamlessly switching from taunting, high-pitched croons, to menacing, harsh barks, to haunting growls with relative ease.

You would never know listening to Finding Elysium’s newest single, “Alone” (Heart’s classic #1 smash hit) that the song was recorded, mixed, and mastered in separate stages with band members and engineers in different parts of the world during the pandemic.
The song and video are now available to stream and download via Ingrooves on digital outlets.
"Since starting Finding Elysium with Angie, the comparison we most often receive is to the band Heart," explains singer/guitarist Noel Waters. "Ann and Nancy Wilson have been huge influences on us since we were old enough to make sound out of our vocal cords or hold an instrument. I thought it would be fun to take one of their hits and try to put our own spin on it. I believe that a song contains hooks that aren’t just found in the vocals."
"For example, when people hear Heart’s version of ‘Alone’, they often think of that piano motif in the intro. I basically kept that same melody throughout as a recurring ostinato theme, and completely started from scratch around it. I kept the harmonic progression the same while reharmonizing wherever I felt it was necessary. I really wanted to honor the rock ballad vibe of the original, while adding some programmed synth layers to break up some of the live instruments. For the solo, I wanted to pay homage to the original, but also bring a little of my own style into it."
What makes the release of their favorite Heart song even more special and meaningful to Finding Elysium is Noel Waters’ latest gift to herself: the new Epiphone Nancy Wilson Fanatic signature guitar that she proudly plays on the track. She recently did a demo and review of the guitar, which can be seen below.

The 2020 pandemic put a sudden halt to performing live and the ways musicians work together, especially during the recording process. For FINDING ELYSIUM, to make matters more complicated, many of their band and creative team members returned to distant homes after the start of the lockdown. “We’re not joking when we tell people that this band is from all over the world,” said producer/guitarist Noel Waters, the only native of Los Angeles in the band. “When facing the lockdown, we knew we needed to have the recording process strategically well thought-out to give this alt-rock version of such a classic song a cohesive band sound.”
While lead singer Angie Grayfox is originally from Moscow, Russia, she remained in Los Angeles with Waters to track her lead vocals. The recording was ultimately completed with guitarist/singer Niko Kiknadze at his home in Batumi, Republic of Georgia, bassist Alfie Lucero-Canaan in Mexico, and drummer Adam Soucy in New Hampshire.
With all of their respective tracks completed, Waters sent the completed session to recording engineer Raul Lopez (Grouplove, Lennon Stella, Lewis Capaldi) at Larrabee Studios in North Hollywood, CA. Working at a distance, Waters and Lopez completed the mix and then it was off to famed Grammy® award-winning mastering engineer, Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Vampire Weekend, Royal Blood) at Sterling Sound in Edgewater, NJ. “It’s amazing that when you listen to the recording, none of participants in the recording, mixing and mastering process except Angie and I were in the same room at the same time, but we were still able to still make it sound like a band thanks to modern technology,” says Waters.
Sweden's Seventh Crystal recently release their debut album, Delirium, via Frontiers Music Srl. Watch a music video for the song "Broken Mirror" below, and order the new album here.
Seventh Crystal, a new rock band from the fertile Swedish music scene, was put together by singer Kristian Fyhr. Initially, Kristian wanted to pursue a solo project, but when the songs started to take form, he realized he wanted to involve more musicians. So, he moved to vocals only and brought in Johan Älvsång (Pinstripe Conspiracy, Lamashtu) on keyboards/piano and Olof Gadd (Osukaru) on bass as the first key pieces, and then recruited Anton Roos on drums and Emil Dornerus on guitar to complete the lineup.
Seventh Crystal's music can best be described as arena hard rock with melodic rock influences. The band comments, “We would describe the band’s music and sound as an “intelligent” hard rock, but still very melodic. Our songwriting is very varied. We like to write songs in a pop style and then "beef" them up and make it rock. We're big admirers of everything from Cheiron Studio and Max Martin to Behemoth and Iron Maiden. So our influences come from a lot of different bands and music. But we kind of end up in the modern hard rock and arena rock sound, since that's where we have our common roots. When it comes to the songwriting, it is usually one or two of us who write the basic idea. But then each member adds their own touch and flavour and what comes out is the heavy, intriguing and exciting sound of Seventh Crystal!"
If you love the new wave of Scandinavian hard rock embodied by bands such as One Desire, H.E.A.T., and other bands who bring a huge sense of melody to modern rock, then this band is going to be right up your alley.

Dutch death metal legends, Pestilence, have completed their instrumental rundown of "Morbvs Propagationem". In this final playthrough video (and in anticipation of a new single coming out soon) they present Rutger van Noordenbvrg's guitar part. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album Exitivm, out June 25 via Agonia Records.

A new album, on a new label armed with a whole new lineup and a new dynamic: no matter what, Pestilence - or more specifically their maestro Patrizio Mameli - is like the phoenix, rising from the ashes, over and over again. An official website has been launched for Exitivm, providing access to all relevant information surrounding the new album, here.
Back in 1986, in the small town of Enschede in the Netherlands, nearby the German border, a true metal phenomenon was born. More than three decades later, not only is Pestilence alive and well, but about to once again reaffirm their place in the extreme metal pantheon, with their ninth studio album entitled Exitivm, which is Latin for "total destruction".
As controversial as he can be to some, nobody will ever deny the band’s undisputable driving force, Patrizio Mameli, and his constant ability to reinvent himself. Unlike most of the bands in the scene, Pestilence just keeps evolving. From the raging thrash leanings of their cult 1988 debut Malleus Maleficarum to the jazz-infused versatility of 1993’s Spheres or 2009’s Resurrection Macabre frontal assault, not to mention the fans’ favorite and Scott Burns-produced Testimony Of The Ancients from 1991, he never did the same record twice. No matter who playes with him on any Pestilence album, Mameli always gets the best out of the musicians he is working with. But first and foremost, the man has a one-of-a-kind vision, instantly recognizable style and yet always stretching musical boundaries. And it’s never more true than on Exitivm.
After a vast reissue campaign in between 2015 and 2018 and an acclaimed new album Hadeon, the band got seemingly stopped in their mission to conquer the death metal scene in early 2020, like everybody else, by the global pandemic, going as far as forcing some of the band’s Hadeon line-up members to drop the towel. But what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger and instead of letting that whole situation drag him down, Mameli chose to do the exact opposite and write the best and darkest album possible to date. And he just did that. With its ambitious lyrical concept about "global domination", "induced mental illness", "inner and outer demons" and malicious external entities, Exitivm is propelling the band one again to the forefront of the death metal movement with yet another original and brilliant artistic overhaul.
Mind you, as soon as you’re past the very cinematic introduction "In Omnibvs", you’re instantly caught up by "Morbvs Propagationem" whose intense riffing will take back to the Testimony days. Except that their core sound has been revived, with now extra layers of ominous soundscapes ingeniously suggesting an atmosphere of suspence and horror, boosted by Mameli’s jazz-fusion impressive solo works and a renewed sense of urgency. This rejuvenation, with emphasis on "new musical landscapes but also sick and twisted riffs" as stated by Mameli himself, is no accident though. Not only has Mameli been extremely inspired by the turmoil humanity had to face since March 2020 but with a line-up once again, entirely based in the Netherlands and made up of only super-seasoned players – besides former Dew Scented and Creepmime Joost van der Graaf on bass and Bleeding Gods’ Rutger van Noordenburg on lead guitar, former God Dethroned Michiel van der Plicht joined on drums last year – Pestilence is more than ever a BAND where everybody feeds off of each other's musical talent. And it definitely shows.
With the exception of the drums - tracked down by van der Plicht himself at his home studio - the album was recorded over a period of two months in between June and August 2020 at Pitchnote Productions. The album has been produced, like all Pestilence albums, by Mameli and is co produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Jory Hogeveen (Shinigami and Ancient Rites). Last March, the band filmed their second ever official video – three decades after Land Of Tears – for the song "Morbvs Propagationem". Exitivm will be available in various formats, including supra-limited picture, pin-wheel, "firebreath" and clear vinyl versions. The cover artwork once again brought the band’s iconic sphere and was done by Michal "Xaay" Loranc, known for his various cover for Nile, God Detheroned or Evocation and who had already worked on "Hadeon".
Both a reinvention and a confirmation of everything the band has been standing for since 1986, thirty-five years later Pestilence are more than ever breaking new grounds and exploring the further outposts of the extreme metal sound on Exitivm.

The new single "Fabricated Hope" is out today via Inverse Records. Check out the official video below.
Kankainen: "Song that came straight from the dark depths of my heart and soul. I bet you can hear the contradiction of hate and love, beauty and brutality, which still interwine together seamlessly. Anger, hate, love and melancholy."

2021 marks 30 years since the formation of extreme metal pioneers, Emperor. Formed in 1991, their game-changing debut In The Nightside Eclipse (1995) set the template for symphonic, bombastic, melodic black metal, whilst their follow-up record, Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk (1997) became an instant hit.
Emperor were a force to be reckoned with as underground, experimental and extreme forms of music twisted expectations throughout the end of the 20th Century. 2001 saw the end of Emperor with their fourth album, the ambitious and labyrinthine Prometheus: The Discipline Of Fire & Demise.
Hellscore, otherwise knowns as The Hellscore Choir, came to BraveWords' attention thanks to thier appearance on the recent Ayreon album, Transitus. Led by Scardust vocalist Noa Gruman, the Israeli outfit has released an a capella cover of the Metallica classic "For Whom The Bell Tolls".
"Being one of the biggest metal bands in the world, Metallica couldn’t have escaped our tribute list. Their brilliant combination of heavy metal music and a symphonic orchestra in their legendary S&M performance was the inspiration behind this a cappella arrangement. It combined Michael Kamen’s epic orchestration together with the harsh sound of metal, which fits perfectly into Hellscore’s musical esthetic.
We chose to film the video in the desert during sunrise, an image that came to our minds while reading the powerful lyrics of this song. It was self produced by all of the members of the choir, and was an unforgettable adventure for us all.
We proudly present: 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' by Metallica, performed by The Hellscore Devils."
