TRUE VILLAINS Launch New Single / Video "The Villain"

2020 has been a rough year for most, but rising from what seems to be a crumbling time is music that will power us through. Part of the much-needed revival is Nashville-based, rock ‘n roll act, True Villains and their new single, “The Villain”.

The quintet’s new release was produced by Grammy-award winner Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Velvet Revolver, Alice In Chains), and according to the band, the song, “highlights that sometimes in life we are forced into positions that cast us as the anti-hero. This track deals with the realization and overall acceptance of that role, and learning to lean into the characteristics of becoming the villain.”

True Villains introduce a fresh take on rock n’ roll, melding the raw energy and excitement of a bygone era with a voice, sound, and songwriting that is completely their own.

True Villains' founding members, Tim Venerosa and Matt Carter, first met in Los Angeles while attending Musician’s Institute, and reconnected  in Nashville in 2015 after touring and working on other various projects. After bringing bassist Barry Conaway and Greg Herndon onboard, the band embarked on an exhausting search for their frontman (think of Mötley Crüe’s search in The Dirt for Vince Neil) who would share the same vision of bringing rock back to center stage.

Though Nashville is full of incomparable talent, it was not a swift process to nail down a singer. Finally, the group connected with lead singer Beau Lastavich who was still living in his home state of Minnesota at the time through a post on Craigslist. The five bonded over their mutual love for rock music, citing influences like Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden, Mötley Crüe, and Skid Row. Together they vowed to create, perform, and move fans with their music as their idols once did for  them.

STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET Criticizes CARDI B's 'WAP', Says He Doesn't Want His Granddaughter Subjected To 'That Garbage'

Michael Sweet of openly Christian rockers STRYPER has criticized rap superstar Cardi B over the suggestive lyrics to her single "WAP", saying he doesn't want his granddaughter subjected to that "garbage."

"WAP" debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart last month, breaking numerous streaming records and spawning a viral TikTok dance challenge. The track's lyrics, which are about female sexual liberation, have also been the subject of controversy, with several right-wing commentators implying "WAP" was specifically marketed to young girls, when the song's obvious audience is adults.

Sweet offered his opinion of "WAP" in an interview with the "Cobras & Fire" podcast, where the vocalist/guitarist was promoting STRYPER's new album, "Even The Devil Believes".

Asked by host Jason "Bakko" Bakken about his September 2 social media post in which he called "WAP" "a piece of crap," with the word "crap" replaced by a poop emoji, Sweet said: "I don't wanna come across like a prude or someone that is closed-minded, but I just find it interesting how, here we are in 2020 fighting for women's rights, as we should be, and you've got videos like that.

"There's a time when it's not about judging — it's just about what's right and what's wrong," he continued. "I have a little granddaughter who has probably heard that song, and I'm thinking to myself, that just pisses me off. It pisses me off, the fact that she most likely has heard the song, because I don't want that garbage going into my granddaughter's ears.

"I think that we have a responsibility as artists, and many artists cross that line," Sweet added. "I said the same thing about [former child star] Miley Cyrus. Here she is on Disney — all these kids are looking up to her and following her — and the next thing you know, live in concert, she's riding a big, hanging… whatever," referring to the fact that Miley had a giant inflatable penis as a stage prop during her "Bangerz" tour. "And I'm just thinking, can't she just have a little responsibility — even just a smidgen of responsibility?"

Still, Sweet said he respected Cardi B's right to express herself freely as an artist.

"We live in America — she can do whatever she wants, as can I, by commenting on it," he said.

"Even The Devil Believes" was released on September 4 via Frontiers Music Srl.

SIX FEET UNDER Releases Video For New Single 'Blood Of The Zombie'

On October 2, death metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER will release their 17th full-length album, "Nightmares Of The Decomposed", via Metal Blade Records. The official Reino Aedmäe-animated music video for the disc's third single, "Blood Of The Zombie" can be seen below.

Vocalist Chris Barnes comments: "Working again after 25 years writing an album with my old bandmate from CANNIBAL CORPSE, Jack Owen [guitar], was like coming home...To a room full of dead bodies. Jack's writing and riff work on this album gave me the fuel to write some disturbing lyrics and really set my creative mind on fire."

Comprised of 12 tracks, "Nightmares Of The Decomposed" is a defining statement, making it very clear that more than twenty-five years into their career, SIX FEET UNDER remain at the forefront of the genre. Dynamic, heavy as hell, catchy, and uncompromising, it is everything that the band's longtime faithful have come to expect from the deadly unit, and is clearly the product of a lot of hard work by Barnes, guitarists Owen and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell and drummer Marco Pitruzzella.

Tracked at various studios, including Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida, which over the years has played host to the likes of AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH and AEROSMITH, among others, it was produced, engineered and mixed by Chris Carroll, who has given it a full and chunky feel. The album's mastering was handled by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado. The finished product comes packaged in artwork by Luke Hunter and is packed with songs that will sound great live, and will sit comfortably alongside the classics already filling out their set lists, helping to drive the band ever closer to their fourth decade of existence.

"Nightmares Of The Decomposed" track listing:

01. Amputator

02. Zodiac

03. The Rotting

04. Death Will Follow

05. Migraine

06. The Noose

07. Blood Of The Zombie

08. Self Imposed Death Sentence

09. Dead Girls Don't Scream

10. Drink Blood Get High

11. Labyrinth Of Insanity

12. Without Your Life

There are exactly ZERO cases of COVID-19 in the freezing cold arctic tundra of Antarctica. This is great news as your Lords and Masters GWAR have been cleared for travel.

Truly, what is October without a global pandemic and the chance to watch GWAR from the comfort of your shitty old hoopty?! Grab a hotdog, slather it in chili, and shove it down your throat as we bring you the pinnacle of entertainment, the ultimate creature feature, live and writhing...all over your windshield!"

THE DEAD DAISIES Release Animated Music Experience For New Single "Bustle And Flow"; Video

Rock bands have always used music videos to express their creativity and innovation, “Bustle And Flow” is no exception.

The Dead Daisies have collaborated with Creative Works (London), a branding and content studio (live concert graphic artists for Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith, amongst others) to provide the latest visuals for their newest single, “Bustle And Flow”. Together they are forging new ground creating narrative driven real-time immersive visual and music content, that spans live, social and digital channels. This Animated Music Experience (A.M.E) uses the Unreal Engine game engine that is behind the worldwide online video game phenomenon Fortnite, amongst others.

The Dead Daisies are always looking for original ideas and providing unique experiences for their fans. This new offering taps into the gaming aesthetic that dominates the globe and enables the band to connect with audiences of all ages, whilst remaining on the cutting edge of technology.

A spellbinding animation sets the backdrop for the song from their upcoming album, Holy Ground which will be released January 22, 2021.

In this dark, fiery tale a Mysterious Woman arrives at the entrance of a foreboding Sideshow Carnival that has pitched up on the outskirts of town in the grounds of an old dilapidated church graveyard. With stealth and speed on her side, the Raven deals out her punishment outwitting her prey at every turn and subjecting her quarry to a swift demise.

“Filled with energy and vigor, 'BustleAand Flow' emerged as one of the last tracks to make the cut. It builds and builds and has great movement. The song and the video are about walking through the fear,” says vocalist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Hughes.

The Animated Music Experience can be seen below:

Lineup:

Vocals/Bass: Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion)

The band comments: "Berserkers! Behold, this is our week of gold! First, we are very proud to say that our 'Jomsviking' album has been officially certified gold in Germany. A mighty special thanks from us to our dedicated German fans for making this happen, for without you on our side we are nothing. This award is a glorious victory for all of us! Skål!"

The gold celebration continues with the launch of a new video for "Fafner's Gold" — a track that appeared on 2019's "Berserker". The video was produced by FOG Productions GmbH and Eat The Beat Music, directed by Jörg Maas, edited by Daniel Barnes, with final editing by Denise Korycki of Wild Wind Productions.

AMON AMARTH adds: "Has anyone ever wondered what it's like to see a full power AMON AMARTH live arena show in Europe? Please enjoy, stay safe out there and Raise Your Horns!"

"Berserker" was released in May 2018 via Metal Blade Records. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, URIAH HEEP and STONE SOUR.

EXMORTUS Release "Night On Bald Mountain" Playthrough Video

One year ago, Los Angeles-based death/thrash/shred quartet Exmortus ushered in the Halloween season with a new horror-themed EP, Legions Of The Undead.

This year, the group kicks off the festivities with a new playthrough video for one of the tracks from that release, “Night On Bald Mountain”. The clip can be viewed here, where a limited-edition cassette (only 100 pressed) of the EP is now available exclusively for purchase on the group’s Bandcamp page (which includes digital download).

The playthrough video for “Night On Bald Mountain” - a classical piece originally written in the 19th Century by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky, and famously featured in the 1940 Disney animated feature Fantasia - showcases the impressive instrumental prowess of the group’s four members.

"What a year it's been since ‘Legions…’ came out! To celebrate the anniversary, we thought it would be cool to release the EP in cassette form and finally do a ‘Night On Bald Mountain’ jam video,” says guitarist/vocalist Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez. “We have more in store for the end of the year so stay tuned and most importantly stay safe! Thank you all for the support! Shred on, legions!"

“Legions Of The Undead” marked the first Exmortus release featuring the lineup – Gonzalez, guitarist Chase Becker (also of Warbringer), bassist Cody Nunez and drummer Adrian Aguilar – that had logged numerous miles on the road together over the prior two years with the likes of Obituary, Venom Inc., Sabaton, Kreator, Havok, Allegaeon, Hatchet, Homewrecker and The Absence. The five-track release – recorded with longtime producer Zack Ohren (Machine Head, Immolation) at Oakland's Sharkbite Studios – also includes two originals (“Swallow Your Soul” and the title track), as well as covers of two other well-known instrumentals performed in the band's inimitable neoclassical metal style: Danny Elfman's “Beetlejuice” theme and Bernard Hermann's iconic “Psycho Theme”.

Founded by Gonzalez when he was just 12 years old, Exmortus released their debut album, In Hatred's Flame, via Heavy Artillery in 2008. After gaining additional acclaim with their 2011 sophomore effort Beyond The Fall Of Time, the group signed a three-album deal with Prosthetic Records in 2013. In support of that acclaimed trilogy of releases (2014's Slave To The Sword, 2016's Ride Forth and 2018's The Sound Of Steel), the band toured alongside some of metal's biggest names, including Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Abbath, Dark Tranquillity and Marty Friedman, earning extensive praise along the way for their live power, prowess and proficiency.

INSIDIOUS DISEASE Spews Death On New Track "Born Into Bondage"; Visualizer

Norwegian death metal beasts Insidious Disease, featuring current/former members from Dimmu Borgir, Morgoth, Nile, Susperia and Napalm Death, will release their new album, After Death, on October 30 via Nuclear Blast.

Today, the band release a blood curdling anthem called "Born Into Bondage". A visualizer can be found below.

The track is found on the group's first album in a decade, “After Death,” that's due out on October 30th with Nuclear Blast.

Commenting on the new single, vocalist Marc Grewe states: "Recalling the time Silenoz and myself wrote 'Born Into Bondage,' I totally remember it was a foggy and rainy Norwegian day in the fall, just as it is right now, actually...perfect scenery to fall into philosophic talks about lost relationships, lost hopes and so on. We were talking about dependency in any kind of way, may it be religion, ego, drugs or whatever we once were trapped  in one way or the other .

"We had this traumatic sounding Intro-Theme... words were flying around and all of a sudden it was assembling together. I just tried out some vocal phrases out of the top of my lungs... and it somehow fitted perfectly. After that it was just like a hot knife cutting the butter.

"I guess Silenoz and I have a common sense about what "freedom" means, so after these first takes with an SM 57 in Silenoz basement we just recorded those vocals, that you can actually listen to on this recording...it's OLD SCHOOL as it was meant to be! No posh studio shit...recording in the basement...its more about the common sense of how you "feel"about a song, not so much about technical abilities! That's  how it works, and how it was meant to be... right?!"

Sonically inducing a depraved and morbid condition of the mind, Insidious Disease returns this fall to present their second full length album. Freshly signed to Nuclear Blast Records, the band convenes to create a modern venture into classic death metal. Still in the early stages of existence with only their debut album Shadowcast (2010) preceding, Insidious Disease are ripe with a hellish energy that seeks to sear its way across the universe of heavy metal.

“It’s not supposed to be re-inventing the wheel or anything, it’s just about finding a good groove that we feel comfortable with,” explains Silenoz.

WHITESNAKE Release "Easier Said Than Done" 2020 Remix Video From Upcoming Love Songs Collection

Whitesnake brings together some of the most-passionate music of its multi-platinum career on Love Songs, a new collection that contains remixed and remastered versions of the group’s best love songs. It’s the second release in the band’s Red, White and Blues Trilogy, a series of compilations organized by musical themes that began this summer with The Rock Album (white) and will conclude next year with The Blues Album (blue).

A video for a fresh, new remix of one of "Easier Said Than Done" (2020 Remix) can be seen below:

The new collection includes a mix of hits and deep tracks that were originally released between 1987 and 2011 on five Whitesnake studio albums and David Coverdale’s third solo album, Into The Light. Available for pre-order now, Love Songs will be released on November 6 as a CD , as a double-LP set pressed on 180-gram red vinyl, and digitally. The album will also be available via Rhino.com .

Like The Rock Album, Coverdale says all the tracks on Love Songs have been revisited, remixed and remastered. “Some have been musically embellished where my co-producer Michael McIntyre, my new mixer Christopher Collier and I felt it appropriate or necessary to bring out the best in these songs,” he explains.

Coverdale continues, “As most of you know, pretty much all the songs I write are love songs in some way, shape or form. These are some of my favorites. Not all are ballads. Some are out and out rockers with powerful romantic themes… and of course… include heavy breathing in all of them!!”

Released in October 1987 as the follow-up to the #1 smash “Here I Go Again,” “Is This Love” would peak at #2 on the US singles chart, making it the second-biggest hit of the band’s career. The group’s next album, the platinum-certified Slip Of The Tongue (1989), is represented here by the hit singles “The Deeper The Love” and “Now You’re Gone.”

In addition to the album tracks “Don’t You Cry” and “Midnight Blue,” the set also introduces three previously unreleased outtakes from the Into The Light album sessions: “With All Of My Heart,” “Yours For The Asking,” and “Let’s Talk It Over.” The albums Restless Heart (1997), Good To Be Bad (2008), and Forevermore (2011) are also represented on the compilation with multiple tracks (“Too Many Tears,” “Summer Rain,” and “Easier Said Than Done”).

In the coming months, some of the band’s most adored MTV-era hit videos will be released on Whitesnake’s YouTube channel in brand new HD, including a fan-requested promotional video for the song “Easier Said Than Done” from the Forevermore album.

WARFECT Release "Left To Rot" Single And Music Video

The second single, “Left To Rot”, off Swedish war machine Warfect’s new album, Spectre Of Devastation, spices the thrash outfit with a blackened and old school attitude. Relentless riffs and brutal bass lines drive this demolition ball directly in your head. More than six minutes of pure aggression and hate - perfectly underlined by an intense official video.

Warfect on ”Pestilence”: “The new single and music video 'Left To Rot' is a heavy mid-tempo song depicting the horrors surrounding a massive railway construction project in northern Siberia where lots of people perished. It will make your head bang!”

Founded in 2003, Warfect is one of the most convincing yet underrated acts in the Swedish metal scene. Straight from the Gothenburg underground, the three-piece carries their full potential to the next level with their fourth studio album Spectre of Devastation.

For over a decade, Warfect have brought their blackened thrash metal to the hordes. Now, four years after the release of their previous full-length, Scavengers, the Swedish thrash metal three-piece hailing from Uddevalla are even more forceful and have announced their furious new offering, Spectre Of Devastation, out November 13. After recently signing with Napalm Records, Warfect are now taking the next step with their fourth album by unveiling a true thrash metal engine.

Warfect states: “We're thrilled to unveil the details of our upcoming album Spectre of Devastation! The album was recorded earlier this year with our own Fredrik Wester at the helm and Flemming Rasmussen doing the mastering. The cover artwork was masterfully done by Andreas Marschall and sets the mood of the album on the spot.”

The thrash metal powerhouse pushes itself through spheres of pure heaviness directly into your core! Songs like “Left To Rot” mix a blackened attitude into the thrash outfit, while “Into The Fray” leads back to the origins of the genre by implementing fast screaming guitar tunes. The exceptional cover artwork is illustrated by leading German cover artwork designer Andreas Marschall, known for his work for bands like King Diamond, Kreator, Sodom, Obituary and Blind Guardian, to just name a few.

The eight songs of Spectre of Devastation convince with on-point production and the great mastering skills of Grammy winning producer Flemming Rasmussen, who burst onto the scene by working on Rainbow’s Difficult To Cure and Metallica’s all time genre classics Ride The Lightning, Masters Of Puppets and ...And Justice For All, before he won the Grammy for his work on the legendary song “One”.

Spectre Of Devastation will be available in the following formats:

- 1-CD Jewel Case
- LP Gatefold Black
- LP Gatefold Blue (limited to 100 copies)
- LP Gatefold Red (limited to 100 copies)
- Digital Album
