Portland death metal band, Vitriol, have released an official video for "Hive Lungs", a track from their debut full-length album, To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice, available via Century Media Records. Find the clip below.
Fronted by the dual vocal assault given from guitarist Kyle Rasmussen and bassist Adam Roethlisberger, driven by the inhuman drummer Scott Walker, Vitriol proved to make a successful strike at the genre's heart with their 2017 EP, Pain Will Define Their Death. Released via Italy's Everlasting Spew, it already provided a shockingly intense glimpse at the whirlwind that is to be unfurled on the much anticipated debut record, To Bathe From The Throat Of Cowardice.
Featuring classy artwork by Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Krisiun, Angelcorpse), the album offers 44 minutes of utmost sincere and vicious music embodying a radicalness and personality rarely heard within the genre.

Toronto-based black metal outfit Astaroth Incarnate have posted a guitar playthrough video for "I Am Fire / I Am Death [Omega]", featuring the band's guitarist Pablo Sagastume. The song is taken from their 2019 EP, Ascendance.
With regards to the song, the band offers the following: "'I Am Fire / I Am Death (Omega)' is the continuation of the first track ('Alpha') that we released, and it continues on with the apocalyptic story concept from where it left of at the end of 'Alpha'. If you paid close attention to 'Alpha', you would've noticed four different characters (who represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse and are color-coded accordingly) intertwined in Death with the primary Astaroth character who represents Life. Therefore, Omega continues the story as representing the Astaroth character as someone who is beyond Death and one who incites the outcome of the eventual demise of a human."
Canadian melodic power metal quartet, Unleash The Archers, just released their fifth full-length album, Abyss, via Napalm Records. In celebration of the album's release, the band has unveiled yet another wild music video, this time for their triumphant new burner, "Faster Than Light". In the tongue-in-cheek video, the band members take part in a competitive footrace, but are met with unexpected twists along the way.
Frontwoman Brittney Slayes says about "Faster Than Light": "Being that this song is about racing off into the far corners of space, we thought it would be a fun idea to actually race each other in the music video to see which one of us was truly 'Faster Than Light'! Of course we had to have some fun with it though, and added a little bit of excitement into the mix. Our director mentioned an older Stephen King novel called The Long Walk as inspiration for a way to spice up the video and we all agreed it would be hilarious! Check out the plot synopsis on Wikipedia if you haven't read it already... This track has turned into a favourite of the band and we knew it had to be a single the moment the finished product was in our hands. It's fast, fun, and is going to be an absolute blast to play live!"
Abyss was engineered, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen of Hansen Studios in Denmark (Volbeat, Delain, Amaranthe), with production by guitarist Andrew Kingsley. Order Abyss in available formats here.
As mentioned, the Deluxe Earbook edition of Abyss features two bonus tracks - synthwave and gothic folk-pop versions of “Abyss” and “Soulbound”, respectively. This is something Unleash The Archers has never done before, turning their singles into something completely different!

Primitive Man are back with the extreme, terrifying, and confrontational new album, Immersion, out now via Relapse Records. A visualizer for the song "Foul", can be seen below.
True to the band's ethos, every moment of Immersion is overwhelming; from the sonic pummelling of the album opener "The Lifer" to the brooding, unnerving guitars whirring throughout "Entity", Immersion builds and builds. The tension throughout the record is palpable. Hair raising tracks such as "Menacing" push and pull constantly, shifting from passages of harsh doom to an endless corridor of horrid screaming, blast beats, and a formidable low end.
Adding to the album's darkness, a pervasive lyrical anxiety erodes throughout the record. A stark look at a mirror, Immersion's themes tackle sobering views on existential crises, a general distrust among another, and the current state of the world. Frontman Ethan McCarthy elaborates, "Souring your view on your existence and everything you had worked towards... allowing yourself to become possessed by the darkest parts of your mind that you have carried around your entire life and not dealt with."
True to these dark times, Primitive Man's Immersion is an introspective look into ruin and undoing. As McCarthy explains, Immersion dives into the point of no return. "Now you're a grown man and you're fucked."

Thin Lizzy legend Phil Lynott's birthday was on August 20th. He would have turned 71. Toronto rocker Danko Jones checked in on the day with a short tribute to him:
"Happy Birthday, Phil Lynott! When I recorded this I hadn’t heard the news Ron Heathman had passed away and dedicate this to him now. Ron 'Rontrose' Heathman was The Rocker. R.I.P. Phil Lynott. R.I.P. Ron Heathman."
Coming to cinemas in fall 2020, Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away is a feature documentary on the life and music of Phil Lynott, telling the story of how a young black boy from working class 1950's Dublin, became Ireland's greatest rock star.
As the lead singer of Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott was a songwriter, a poet, a dreamer, a wildman. Told extensively through the words of Phil himself and focusing on some of his iconic songs, the film gets to the heart of Philip, the father, the husband, the friend, the son, the rock icon, the poet and the dreamer.
Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away is produced by Universal Music’s Globe Production with backing from Screen Ireland. It is produced by Alan Maher and John Wallace for Cowtown Pictures and Peter Worsley for Eagle Rock Films.
DarWin's new single, “Nightmare Of My Dreams” from the forthcoming album, DarWin 2: A Frozen War, features a video directed by the legendary Nigel Dick (Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard).
“I started working on this ('Nightmare Of My Dreams') shortly after we finished the first Origin Of Species album. Our drummer Simon Phillips, his home burnt down in a tragic wildfire, and we had been thinking a lot about all the themes of the first album dealing with climate change. Those events actually affected our own lives very directly. I’d been working on some ideas for this song and one night it all seemed to come together. The video was shot in Australia, where we wanted to shoot in an area that had been affected by wildfires and climate change. We really want this song to be a tribute to those dealing with the challenges of wildfires around the world. We hope that people can think about the dangers facing many parts of the world and the challenges of the families who have to get their lives back together after these events.” - DarWin
Of the 400 plus videos Nigel Dick has directed, this is the first video he has directed remotely. The shoots took place in LA, Nashville, Iceland and Australia - with Nigel himself being in Colorado. Nigel provided the Australian crew with a 27-page storyboard to follow for the shoot in the Blue Mountains, Australia, an area that had been ravaged by fire at the end of 2019. Ironically the fire blistered landscape had begun to grow back green shoots when they filmed, so they had to hide those. Nigel also had to use a real family as actors so that they could work around social distancing. And for the final shot the teddy bear had to be flown across the world to be filmed beforehand had to be quarantined before coming out of its box. A curious tale for these curious times…
Once more DarWin has assembled a stunning ensemble of musicians. DarWin II: A Frozen War continues the core collaboration with Simon Phillips, Matt Bissonette and DarWin. Joining them are powerhouse players Billy Sheehan, Guthrie Govan, Greg Howe, Derek Sherinian, and more.
Darwin 2: A Frozen War was produced by DarWin and Simon Phillips and recorded primarily in Iceland and the USA. The DarWin 2: A Frozen War album will be released later in 2020.
DarWin’s critically acclaimed debut, Origin Of Species, was the first installment in an epic saga that addresses the challenges of mankind in our coming era. It depicts the role of a changing planet, and the potential, as well as limitations, of technology to help solve mankind’s greatest challenges. A complex project that’s eschews the hollow immediacy of much contemporary art. A story that demands attention and imagination. With music sweeping in scope, at times evoking hard rock virtuoso shredding, alongside grand orchestral compositions, warm harmonies and soaring choruses. A project that is even more relevant in the strange times we live in.
SMITH & MYERS, the duo comprised of SHINEDOWN's Brent Smith and Zach Myers, has released dual singles from its forthcoming full-length album, "Smith & Myers Volume 1", due out October 9 via Atlantic Records, alongside a brand new music video. Original single "Not Mad Enough" was written in the immediate aftermath of George Floyd's death, expressing the intense emotions that followed and laying bare a plea for racial justice through direct and urgent lyrics over acoustic guitar. The song is paired with the release of a poignant version of "Rockin' In The Free World", highlighting Neil Young's timeless lyrics that are just as relevant today over lone piano.
"Not Mad Enough" and "Rockin' In The Free World" are an introduction to SMITH & MYERS's eloquent songcraft, indelible melodies and glorious vocals created with nothing more than a microphone and an instrument or two. The "Not Mad Enough" video, directed by Paris Visone, can be seen below.
"Smith & Myers Volume 1" features five original tunes and five re-imaginings of fan-submitted songs, including Post Malone's "Better Now", INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart", Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse's "Valerie", and THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS' "Unchained Melody".
Smith says: "We've spent a great deal of time and energy making sure this project is completely authentic. The main reason SMITH & MYERS exists has to do with the fans. A project that was born from multiple requests over the years has now evolved into its true identity. Make no mistake — it's about the songs, it's about the story, and above all it's about the message."
Adds Myers: "It was an odd time to make a record at the beginning of a global pandemic, but the state of the world is reflected in the art we made on this album. It was some of the most creative times I've ever had as a musician or a songwriter. For the covers, we felt that we should approach them as a duo as if we had written the song modern day. With the originals, Brent and I had never discussed some of this subject matter before and we dug so deep while also touching on a world that's rapidly changing around us the last eight months. We felt it would be disingenuous not to touch on social issues we ALL face as humans. We put a lot into this album and we truly hope you enjoy listening to it."
With two hearts and one truth, lifelong musicians, longstanding friends, and eternal brothers Smith and Myers put forth a body of work encompassing vulnerability, fearlessness, honesty, outrage, love and understanding. "Smith & Myers Volume 1", produced by Grammy Award winner and longtime collaborator Dave Bassett, is the duo's first full-length album and first original music since releasing a pair of acoustic cover EPs, "Acoustic Sessions, Part 1" and "Acoustic Sessions, Part 2", in 2014 when fans first fell in the love with the magic that is created between Brent and Zach in the studio and on stage, leading to SMITH & MYERS live shows that instantly sold out. With no boundaries on what their songwriting could discuss on the new album, Brent and Zach explore everything from certain personal topics that they have left largely unexplored until now, to commentary on children being ripped from their parents at the border, to the reactive nature of social media, to our national reckoning with racial and systemic injustice — focusing not on politics, but on right and wrong and our connection as human beings.
SMITH & MYERS will bring its powerful live duo show to a string of drive-in locations around Pennsylvania including Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park Parking Lot on September 3, Scranton's Circle Drive-In on September 18, and Butler's Starlight Drive-In on September 19.
SMITH & MYERS illuminates the depth of Brent and Zach as a duo and showcases a very different yet just as intriguing musical side of these two versatile artists. As one half of multiplatinum band SHINEDOWN, Brent and Zach can often be found topping the rock charts, earning mainstream recognition, and playing to sold-out arenas around the globe with 10 million albums and 10 million singles sold worldwide, 14 platinum and gold singles, five platinum and gold albums, more than 2.7 billion streams and 16 number one rock hits (breaking the record this week for the most ever #1s in the 39-year history of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart with their single "Atlas Falls").

Actor, comedian and acclaimed heavy metal drummer Richard Christy has paid tribute to QUIET RIOT's Frankie Banali, who died earlier this week after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Christy, who has played with CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED, ICED EARTH, DEATH and CONTROL DENIED, and who currently works for "The Howard Stern Show", took to his social media on Saturday (August 22) to upload a video of him playing along to the QUIET RIOT classic "Run For Cover". He wrote in an accompanying caption: "Here's a drum tribute video to the legend Frankie Banali. I would not be a drummer if it weren't for Frankie & the Metal Health album. This is the song that made me want to play double bass. Thank You Frankie. RIP @FrankieBanali @QUIETRIOT @EddieTrunk @rudysarzo"
The 46-year-old Christy began working on "The Howard Stern Show" in 2004 after winning the "Get John's Job" contest. He is known for his prank calls, song parodies, personality and stunts performed on the show. He is also a stand-up comic and an actor, appearing in and directing several independent films.
Frankie was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer on April 17, 2019 and given six months to live. He put up an inspiringly brave and courageous 16-month battle to the end and continued playing live as long as he could. Standard chemotherapy stopped working and a series of strokes made the continuation on a clinical trial impossible. He ultimately lost the fight at 7:18 p.m. on August 20 in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and daughter.
Here’s a drum tribute video to the legend Frankie Banali. I would not be a drummer if it weren’t for Frankie & the Metal Health album. This is the song that made me want to play double bass. Thank You Frankie. RIP @FrankieBanali@QUIETRIOT@EddieTrunk@rudysarzopic.twitter.com/9cHjOdlaVo
The latest episode of Couch Riffs With Mike Squires features a performance of the Rod Stewart classic, "Young Turks", by special guests William DuVall (Alice In Chains, vocals), Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers, drums), Jon Skibic (Afghan Whigs, lead guitar), Mark Watrous (The Shins, keys), and Ryan "Fluff" Bruce (Dragged Under, rhythm guitar) with Mike Squires (Loaded) on "Couch Riffs" with audio mixed by Don Gunn (Death Cab For Cutie/Postal Service/Soundgarden).
Says Squires: "This video is the culmination of much effort over the last 2 years, as I slowly figure out what the hell I'm doing. I book, schedule, film, edit, and promote Couch Riffs, a video series and an audio podcast, which celebrates its 100th podcast episode the week of this release! I can't believe I'm still going some days and I’m not sure how I maintained the energy for it through this year.
"Sometimes you think you're creating something very specific that you've fully imagined and realized but life and circumstances have a way of showing you how it will be its best if you listen and take cues. In some ways Couch Riffs is the most fun I've had in any musically related project in my life and career. It is challenging and can be a real test of patience at times but is always worth the effort. I'm constantly laughing at the situations I'm finding myself in and always laughing directly at myself. It is an absolute honor and privilege every time someone says yes to the question 'will you be on Couch Riffs with me?'.
"This ensemble Couch Riffs video is made up of folks that I've known for varying amounts of time. The choice of song inspiration actually came from Ronnie Vannucci who told me years ago before The Killers released Sam's Town that they were going to cover this song (it never happened). I remembered this and when we started talking about song choices I threw that out and he didn't remember! He just thought I picked a great song. I've known RV since the 90s and am so happy to finally get the opportunity to play on a track with him!
"Mark Watrous first came on my radar around 2000 when he was in a NW band called Loudermilk, one of my absolute favorites. This guy SHREDS guitar, keys, and strings. He's gone on, of course, to play with some very big and successful acts because that's where he belongs. With the best of the best.
"I've met William DuVall over the years a handful of times but never spoke to him at length and digested the depth of his experience and influence on underground music over the last 4 decades until he guested on the Couch Riffs podcast. His stories are some of my favorites of all time on the show and it was an absolute jaw dropping experience for me to hear his track on this the very first time when he sent it back to me. Alice in Chains is lucky to have him and I'm even luckier to have him on this track.
"Jon Skibic is in one of the greatest American indie bands of all time, the Afghan Whigs, and he really shines on this track in a way that he doesn't always get highlighted on stage or record. When I moved to NY a number of our mutual friends pestered both of us to meet each other until we finally did and have become fast friends.
"Ryan Bruce is likely the most familiar person to most folks watching this video if you've EVER been on YouTube and wanted to learn about some great piece of guitar gear. He has been a super resource to Couch Riffs in nearly every way imaginable. He actually saw one of my earliest videos where I was using an iPad and iRig along with my iphone and he sent me a bus-powered interface so that I could improve my game a bit. He's also been a very patient resource to me as I work out the kinks and riff on ideas to him. He's also a killer guitar player in a vicious metal band called Dragged Under and you should check them out.
"It was an absolute pleasure making this and hosting each of my guests. I thank them for trusting me to present them to you and I thank you for watching and supporting the videos and podcast."
Modern rock storytellers COHEED AND CAMBRIA have teamed up with Grammy Award-winning singer Rick Springfield in the sequel to one of the most iconic stories in rock 'n' roll history with "Jessie's Girl 2". The track, which finds the two extending the narrative of "Jessie's Girl" with some unexpected twists, is available now on all streaming platforms and is joined by an official music video (directed by Craig Bernard and Cully Bunker). Featuring both Springfield and the band, the video comically explores the unexpected and diabolical nature of Jessie's girl, proving that things are not always as they seem.
COHEED AND CAMBRIA vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez wonders, "Has anyone ever written a sequel to another artist's song?" He continues: "I don't think so. As a fan of movies, it just seemed like a really interesting idea." The song's concept evolves around the premise that "he got the girl" and asks, "where are they now?" Let's just say it's not a fairytale ending, as Sanchez surmises: "It's kind of like a National Lampoon's movie meets 'So I Married An Axe Murderer'."
The genesis of "Jessie's Girl 2" dates back to COHEED AND CAMBRIA studio sessions from 2019, when the band began riffing on an idea as Sanchez extemporaneously sang the hook from Springfield's 1981 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 smash. A germ of an idea was planted as Sanchez pondered, "What if a band created a sequel for a song that wasn't originally theirs?" After fleshing out new lyrics and tinkering with the concept (even considering a future album of likeminded material called "Sequels"), the band revisited the idea during their time spent at home quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Sanchez pitched the idea to Springfield on Instagram Live. As the song started coming together, they sent it off to Springfield and upon hearing it, the legendary singer agreed to pick up where he left off almost 40 years ago, and feature on the song. "Jessie's Girl 2" looks at what could have been by flipping the timeless anthem of unrequited love on its head, further broadening the legacy of this songbook essential which earned Springfield the 1982 Grammy Award in the category of "Best Rock Male Vocal Performance."
To celebrate "Jessie's Girl 2 (Featuring Rick Springfield)", COHEED AND CAMBRIA has launched a special webstore pre-order for a seven-inch vinyl release of the single which will arrive on September 4. The webstore exclusive vinyl includes a Side B "Jessie's Girl 2 (Directors Cut)" version of the song and is available for pre-order alongside limited-edition "Jessie's Girl 2" merch items including: a t-shirt, trucker hat, button-set, and poster. Pre-orders are available now at www.coheedandcambria.com.
COHEED AND CAMBRIA has a handful of tour dates scheduled for 2021, including a gig with BLINK-182 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 2, Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois on September 16, and their very own S.S. Neverender cruise setting sail from Miami, Florida on October 26.
On July 25, Douglas Blair of W.A.S.P. joined the Turku, Finland-based "fuzz rock" quintet ATOMIC ANNIE for an engaging acoustic version of the W.A.S.P. hit "Wild Child". Blair holstered his Crimson Oath "Borra" custom aluminum Telecaster, and played an uncharacteristic yet effective slide guitar over the well-adapted version.
ATOMIC ANNIE is an active member of the Rock Academy's Turku branch, in which Blair has been deeply involved in "band coaching" for several years. The franchised city-funded social programs (there are currently six nationwide) include two-year free enrollments for young bands in which they receive close support, recording and live experience, instructional clinics and personal tutoring from pros.
Blair states: "'Wild Child', of course, is one of our favorite epic old school tunes to perform with the band, and it's one of those perfectly written ones that works in many interations — like 'Love Machine' by Sweden's GRANDE LUXE or the swing/ska 'Somebody' by THE JUMPIN' JIMES.
"I really never sit in with anyone for our own songs, but this was an invitation tough to refuse indeed.
"It was a rush to play with these guys who have been in our band coaching program (Turku Rock Academy) for years, and they nailed it! Benji's (Benjamin Stromsund, ATOMIC ANNIE singer) in this context is enthralling and spot-on. However, the guys did throw me a curve ball when they transposed the key, so all of my normal shit that I play just went flying out the window. I had to start from scratch, and an open tuning used for SIGNAL2NOISE stuff actually worked perfectly with the slide guitar!"
SIGNAL2NOISE, Blair's unique "power duo," also appeared on VR Sonic Temple for a full set on Wednesday July 21. On August 8, the duo also performed its European debut at the SmugglerRok6 festival in Lieto, Finland.
W.A.S.P. was forced to cancel all nine weeks of the fall 2020 "1984 To Headless" European tour, and rescheduling is in progress.
The official music video for "Hypnotic", the debut single from ASHBA, the solo project of former GUNS N' ROSES and current SIXX:A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba, can be seen below. The track, which was mixed and mastered by three-time Grammy nominee Luca Pretolesi of Studio DMI (Steve Aoki, Diplo, Lil Jon), features a guest appearance by Cali Tucker, the daughter of country music singer LaCosta Tucker and niece of country music legend Tanya Tucker.
According to a press release, Ashba is "the first artist to combine multiple genres with EDM into one unique, explosive sound."
Says Ashba: "My debut single, 'Hypnotic', is a high intense EDM track with big rock guitars. When I perform live along with my DJ, the futuristic AI visuals will take the crowd on a journey to the unknown. I will be featuring a different singer on each track. This music will have no boundaries."
"Ashba's unique version of EDM immediately caught my attention. And now, the industry is calling 'Hypnotic' the new sound coming out of Vegas," says Tony Guanci, Edgeout Records founder and label head.
Written and produced by Ashba, "Hypnotic" opens with his signature guitar sound accompanied by the sultry vocals of Tucker, who teases the listener with "time to steal the show." With Ashba's unwavering experimental vision and Pretolesi's skillful mixing touch, "Hypnotic" exalts life on the dance floor as a space where the cares of the day are cast aside for a night that "makes you lose control" while enjoying a live experience like no other.
Produced by Ashba and following the recent filming guidelines, the video for "Hypnotic" was filmed at one of Sin City's most exclusive mansions and embodies the ultimate Las Vegas fantasy. Beautiful provocateurs, outrageous "colorscapes" and mind-blowing music inspire guests at this private affair to shed all inhibitions and celebrate life as if "tomorrow may never come." Just as the night is about to climax, the intimate over-the-top rave gives way to a surprise twist, injecting his playfulness and humor.
Ashba has brought together a formidable team for his project that includes Gavin Maloof, founding partner Vegas Golden Knights/vice chairman, Maloof Companies; and Tony Guanci, Edgeout founder and label head.
"Hypnotic" will appear on ASHBA's first full-length effort, which will arrive later in the year via Edgeout Records.
On the set of the "Hypnotic" video, Ashba told Las Vegas Now about his solo project: "I left GUNS N' ROSES, and SIXX:A.M. went on hiatus for a bit. So I've always had this vision to take all the genres that have inspired me as a kid growing up and put 'em in a blender as a producer and see what comes out. And this really unique sound came out. And I'm a big fan of EDM, so it's been great. It's EDM with big rock guitars and cellos and violins and congas. There's no limits. It's awesome!"
Although Ashba initially started work on the project as a collaboration with his SIXX:A.M. bandmate James Michael — under the band name PYROMANTIC — it has since evolved into an Ashba solo venture, with Michael announcing in 2018 that he was stepping away from the group.
Ashba commented: "Over the past couple of years, I have found myself going through a musical transformation — almost an evolution, you could say. I allowed my creativity to flow freely without trying to restrain it to conform to a particular genre. I found the whole journey very liberating and also very exciting. It allowed me to experiment with new sounds and compositions that cross the boundaries of multiple music genres, to create something so unique and exciting that I cannot wait to share it with the world."
Last year, Ashba spoke to "Vegas Junkeez" about how his new project came together. He said: "It started off in the beginning, me and the singer from SIXX:A.M., James Michael, we had some time off and we started writing like we did. And it eventually evolved, and obviously, it went in a direction, and I pushed it really hard in a direction, and then James kind of got busy and went off [to do] his thing. But it's evolved into this incredible thing that's just awesome. And to have congas and horns… And it's very worldly. It's designed to make the body move. It's full-on dance stuff, but it's great."
Calling his solo effort his "number one priority," Ashba said that he is "so, so inspired" by the music that he recorded thus far. "This is everything I've ever wanted to do," he said. "It's kind of like your whole career, you learn all these things, you work with all these people… [This] is kind of just my labor of love — it's something I truly wanna do for me — and it's so gratifying to be able to be in a position…
"I've had an incredible career — thank god — but this new thing is just the next chapter," he explained. "It's really special, and it's really a lot of fun. And it's given me the freedom as a songwriter and a producer just to create any style… Basically, I don't have to write for one vocalist or one voice… I can write not only for that, but multiple genres, as long as we keep it within kind of these wide walls that we call [ASHBA]. It's finally my vision unfiltered. So it's really cool. And I'm excited. I think people are really gonna like it. It's something completely different than I've ever done — something new. It's very creative. And me being a creative person, it's the perfect, perfect thing for me, I guess — the perfect project."
Danish Progressive Power Metal group PYRAMAZE has just inked a record deal in order to put out their next full-length studio album called “Epitaph” via AFM Records. The album will be released on November 13th – pre-order started a week ago.
Both AFM Records and PYRAMAZE are extremely happy about the deal and are looking forward to a strong, professional and hopefully long partnership. This new musical union offers good prospects for both parties – while PYRAMAZE found a partner that has great expertise working with a lot of successful Progressive and Power Metal artist such as Evergrey, Orden Ogan, Redemption, Brothers Of Metal and many more, the band offers a tremendous amount of musical and technical craftmanship and quality to add to the labels roster.
This album being the third one with their current lineup, PYRAMAZE continues to fuse their signature meld of memorable melodies, powerful riffs and soaring catchy vocals to keep listeners coming back for more - pleasing both old and new PYRAMAZE fans alike. This upcoming release will prove to be their most melodic and accessible creation to date, featuring guest appearances by Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers, and former PYRAMAZE singers Matt Barlow and Lance King.
With their majestic a clearly progressive first single “A Stroke Of Magic” released this Friday, PYRAMAZE show that they belong to the top of the European Progressive Power Metal Genre!

The official Rafatoon-directed music video for "Ohms", the title track of the new album from the DEFTONES, can be seen below.
The band's ninth studio LP will arrive on September 25. The follow-up to 2016's "Gore" was helmed by Terry Date, who produced such DEFTONES classics as "Around The Fur", "White Pony" and the group's self-titled album. It was recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles, California, and Trainwreck Studios in Woodinville, Washington.
"Ohms" track listing:
01. Genesis
02. Ceremony
03. Urantia
04. Errorr
05. The Spell Of Mathematics
06. Pompeji
07. This Link Is Dead
08. Radiant City
09. Headless
10. Ohms
DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno told Kerrang! magazine that "Ohms" was a more collaborative effort than "Gore", which saw guitarist Stephen Carpenter largely excluded from the production process.
"When you've made a lot of records with the same people, everybody has to be engaged," Moreno said. "We've learned the hard way. A perfect example would be 'Gore', when Stef basically admitted, like, 'I didn't have much to do with this record.' And that was not because we didn't want him — my favorite ideas of DEFTONES songs are ones that he spearheads."
He added: "When the record came out, I think people felt that Stef wasn't as big a part of it and that it may have suffered in certain areas because of that, so one of the most important things [with the new album] is that everybody is engaged and everybody is excited."
DEFTONES have released eight studio albums to date and have sold over ten million albums worldwide. The band is Moreno, Carpenter, drummer Abe Cunningham, programmer Frank Delgado and bassist Sergio Vega.
This past May, DEFTONES postponed their 2020 North American tour due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe. The Live Nation-produced 20-date trek with GOJIRA and POPPY was scheduled to kick off on July 27 and conclude on September 5.
"Gore" bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2016, moving over 71,000 units first week and marking DEFTONES' highest chart position in 13 years.
Los Angeles quintet HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD has released the official music video for the new track "Idol", featuring a guest appearance from rapper Tech N9ne. Continuing to push the boundaries of ingenuity, "Idol" sees HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD effortlessly blend heavy riffs, huge hooks, dubstep-tinged industrial bombast and impassioned lyrical dexterity into a hard-hitting sonic canvas that is uniquely and undeniably their own. "Idol" is out now via BMG/Dove & Grenade Media.
Speaking on the new video, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD's Johnny 3 Tears says: "I think the video best represents the chaos and turmoil of the song itself. Organized and introspective. But something insidious always right below the surface."
"Idol" is the first track to be released from the upcoming "Vol. 2" of HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD's two-part opus "New Empire", produced by Matt Good (ASKING ALEXANDRIA, SLEEPING WITH SIRENS). The first part, "New Empire Vol. 1", was released back in February of this year and spawned hits "Already Dead", "Time Bomb", "Heart Of A Champion" and "Nightmare". They hit the road for a mammoth European tour with PAPA ROACH and ICE NINE KILLS in support of "Vol. 1", but it was unfortunately cut short when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Since the release of HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD's RIAA-platinum-certified 2008 debut album, "Swan Songs", their distinctive and infectious music has incited a cult audience of millions of fans, resulting in sold out shows across the globe and huge festival appearances at Reading and Leeds, Rock Am Ring, Rock On The Range, and more. The band has shared the stage with AVENGED SEVENFOLD, KORN, STONE SOUR and CYPRESS HILL, in addition to receiving nods in the press from the likes of Consequence Of Sound, Billboard, Alternative Press, Rolling Stone and Revolver. The quintet has also garnered massive mainstream appeal, with its 2011 sophomore record, "American Tragedy", going gold and hitting No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Their 2013 full-length, "Notes From The Underground", seized the #2 spot, and in 2018, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD crossed one billion total global streams across its catalog.
