"As a kid I always questioned and challenged authority. That’s one thing that never changed for me," says Aftermath vocalist Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis.
"I’m a cynic and that has led to my search for the truth. I have been on a path to answer questions I have had for years. That search has led to some horrifying realities. The quest for the truth and the answers I have uncovered led to our latest album called There Is Something Wrong. It is a concept record that challenges the listener to question everything and to never believe the official story just because your government or media tells you to. From the Fed to organized religion to Agenda 2030, the lyrics expose it all."
He continues, "The song 'Diethansia' was written three years ago. If you listen to the lyrics it is literally about what is happening today. Bill Gates and his followers have been preaching and warning about a global pandemic for years. His attempt to scare the masses into a global vaccinated world that includes microchips used to track us should frighten us all. He is manipulating and distorting facts to justify 'his vaccine' and their ultimate plan. Diethansia was written to warn everyone about this plan. They talk about sustainable development and population stabilization. Those phrases are meant to sound like solutions to a problem – a way to help the planet. They aren’t. Do you trust Big Pharma to save you? Do you believe a computer salesman will save you? It is time to wake up and question everything."
"The lyrics in the song are not meant as an indictment of all lawyers, doctors, media, etc. The attack is meant for the few within those professions that aren’t interested in helping humanity, but instead destroying it."
German neo-medieval-meets-metal ensemble Corvus Corax Era Metallum has revealed the second single and video “Yggdrasill”, from their upcoming self-titled album, due out September 4th. The single will be available tomorrow, Friday, April 24, but the official video can be seen now.
"Yggdrasill" is the lyrical depiction of the self-sacrifice on the world ash tree in honor of Odin. Embedded with sawing guitar riffs and hypnotic flute and bagpipe sounds, vocalist Castus Karsten Liehm’s sonorous singing conveys victim’s experience - being intoxicated by toadstools and henbane, hanging on the tree, bleeding and in trance, announcing the wisdom of the all-father Odin.
"Yggdrasill, the tree of life, connects the entire world," explains drummer Norbert "Norri" Drescher. “It is where Odin was sacrificing himself by drinking his own blood mixed with honey wine, hanging in that tree for nine nights. It is where Odin died and resurrected to get the eternal wisdom of Yggdrasill."
Two days prior to the impending German shutdown due to COVID-19, Corvus Corax Era Metallum performed their first-ever streaming concert at a medieval countryside house. The band is currently re-streaming the concert via the YouTube clip below; note that the show does not begin until the 3:40 mark.
"This is the last concert by Corvus Corax recorded before in quarantine," says vocalist Castus Karsten Liehm.
Already known for mighty drums, impressive stage shows and an imposing bagpipe wall, Corvus Corax is going one step further with Corvus Corax Era Metallum. Blending the epic sound that Corvus Corax has come to be known for with the force of metal, Corvus Corax Era Metallum is a unique experience. With passionate metal guitars (courtesy of Kreator guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö) and skillful, progressive drums, Corvus Corax Era Metallum shapes their well-known playing styles into a successful symbiosis of traditional instruments and heavy metal. If the Vikings had had electric guitars, this is the form of metal would probably have been produced.
The first single from the upcoming album debuted in February. Watch the video for "Ragnarök".
Since 1989, Corvus Corax has contributed significantly to the development of medieval music. With mystical and myth-enshrouded albums like Mille Anni Passi Sunt, Corvus Corax awakened old gods and legends, while records like Sverker and Gimlie invoke Celtic and Nordic traditions and present the Viking culture in modern times.
The creative heritage conservation of Corvus Corax even caught the attention of Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Pirates Of The Caribbean), who approached the group to write music for the film Ironclad. The band’s bagpipes and drums can be heard in the BBC documentary The Crusades, presented by Monty Python-legend Terry Jones, as well as in the computer game Dragon Age. Producers of HBO’s mega hit series Game Of Thrones were also so impressed by Corvus Corax that they invited them to play live on set for a scene in the pilot episode, which sadly did not make it into the final cut.
What happens when you're in quarantine? You watch a LOT of movies!

Pagan folk metallers, Heidevolk, have released an acoustic version of their song, "Velua". Watch the video below.
Says the band: "While being mostly cooped up indoors right now, there's not much else left but to reminisce on what our beloved outdoors would bring us. Now it just so happens that we have just the right song for that!
"We decided to make a Special Acoustic Quarantine version of our song 'Velua' (from the album of the same title) to keep in touch with all of you, whom me miss playing to so much... Separate from each other, from our homes, we recorded our parts on either our phones or in our home studio's, and mixed it into a "Velua" like you have never heard it before.
"Meanwhile, of course, we keep ourselves busy writing new material for the upcoming album, so expect us to be Live and kicking when all this is over!"

Former VIXEN singer Janet Gardner has released a music video for a new song called "Talk To Me". The track is once again a collaboration with her husband, guitarist/producer Justin James, who has previously worked with STAIND, COLLECTIVE SOUL and TYKETTO. The clip was made at home during the shelter-in-place order due to COVID-19.
"Talk To Me"'s arrival comes less than a week after Gardner and James announced that they have completed work on her third solo album.
Janet's second solo LP, "Your Place In The Sun", was released in May 2019 via Pavement Entertainment. The effort combined modern rock elements with the classic sound Gardner has become known for in her decades of female-fronted and influential fury.
Janet announced her departure from VIXEN in January 2019, saying in a statement that it was time for her to step aside and let drummer Roxy Petrucci and bassist Share Ross "pursue their vision for the future of VIXEN."
Gardner, Petrucci and Ross are considered to be part of VIXEN's classic lineup, along with founding guitarist Jan Kuehnemund, who died of cancer in October 2013.
Gardner contributed lead vocals to VIXEN's most commercially successful studio albums — "Vixen" (1988), "Rev It Up" (1990) and "Tangerine" (1998) — as well as the group's latest release, 2018's live album "Live Fire".
In January 2018, Gardner underwent surgery to remove blood clots in her brain, a condition known as a subdural hematoma.
While Gardner was recovering from her surgery, VIXEN played a show in Durant, Oklahoma in March 2018 with a fill-in singer, Lorraine Lewis of FEMME FATALE. In January 2019, Lewis was announced as Gardner's official replacement.

Says the band: "We are very sensitive with the actual worldwide situation, specially hard in Spain, and for that reason, we wanted to make you a gift to thank you all for staying at home and staying safe, and most important, for keeping the rest of the people safe..."

German/American power metallers, Serious Black, have released the Corona Edition music video for "We Still Stand Tall", a track from their fourth studio album, Suite 226, out not via AFM Records. You can order the album here, and watch the video below:
Unlike Mirrorworld and Magic, which are much more hard rock, Suite 226 features more driving guitars, catchy hooks and finest riffing. After Magic, which is a concept album about the story of mysterious Mr. Nightmist, a witch and a lot of magic, this time Suite 226 also tells a complete narrative of a mentally confused man who is torn between his own dreamworld, reality and evil. In real life the protagonist has been held captive for many years in this dismal, cold padded cell number 226, the inhuman condition of the rotten psychiatry have driven him to total distraction. In his imagination he is the mighty king who lives in his feudal castle, surrounded by courtesans, good food and wine, commands an invincible army. Staggering between illusion and reality, he continues to be drawn into the maelstrom of madness, his life becomes a ride through purgatory, accompanied by demons, anxiety attacks and paranoia.
Serious Black takes the listener on a musically journey between heaven and hell, Suite 226 is the perfect soundtrack for this trip to the place of damnation. Ruthless riffs meets catchy melodies, driven by a manic rhythm section, Urban Breed´s top-rated unleashed vocals add the necessary amount of insanity. After listening to this dervish of an album one may ask oneself what is actually fiction, what is reality. And who knows, after that you may also hear these soft voices in your head. Don't say nobody warned you.

"Solitude Etude"
"Fate Of All Humanity"

Norwegian singer Kari Rueslåtten is known to have one of the finest voices in alternative Nordic folk-pop. Her new album Sørgekåpe is out May 8th, and this will be her eighth solo album. For the first time since her debut-solo album Spindelsinn, she sings in Norwegian.
Sørgekåpe reaffirms Rueslåtten’s ability to deliver incredible vocals laden with dark-edged melancholy. She has always been aiming to uncover the beauty hiding in the dark. It is her first album in Norwegian since her debut-solo album Spindelsinn in 1997. Spindelsinn reached across borders, in spite being sung in Norwegian, a language spoken only by 5 million people worldwide. Fans all over the world embraced the album and found meaning in the music that spoke to them although they did not understand the meaning of the words.
Rueslåtten: "With my new album Sørgekåpe I am really looking forward to inviting people again into my native landscape of sounds and language."
She has been stunned by the amazing reception from all corners of the world for the first single, the title track Sørgekåpe.
"That so many people who follows me from around of the world embrace that I sing in my native language is wonderful. To be honest, I was not sure what people would think when I sung in Norwegian again, so this really warms my heart."
Some will say they know Kari Rueslåtten from her metal background in the early years of her career, when she sung in the Norwegian prog metal band The 3rd and the Mortal. At that time, she took lessons in classical singing in the daytime, sang in metal bands in the evening – all the time inspired by Nordic and Celtic folk music. Since then she has delivered dark-edged folk-pop to a world-wide audience. Kari Rueslåtten’s work with The 3rd And The Mortal is said by Tuomas Holopainen to be the reason why he was inspired to start Nightwish.
The Sørgekaape tracklist is below along with the new video for "Blind".
Kari Rueslåtten was one of the founder members of the progressive doom metal band The 3rd And The Mortal. The band defined a genre and was an inspiration for many other bands worldwide. After leaving The 3rd And The Mortal in 1995 she has now released seven solo studio albums, and one collection. She has toured in Europe and Latin America. Her unique talent has brought Kari Rueslåtten into collaboration with many different artists, such as Toumas Holopainen from the Nightwish, Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering), Liv Kristine (ex-Theatre of Tragedy) and the Norwegian rock legend Åge Aleksandersen.

In September 2019, the UK vocal trio The Lounge Kittens - known for their a capella covers of metal and rock classics - announced they were splitting up. They recently released an official video for their 2015 cover of Metallica's "Sad But True" along with the following update:
"It's 'Sad But True' (see what we did there), but here it is; the last ever Lounge Kittens music video. Thank you to everyone who's ever come to a show, shared the love, listened to a song, or left a comment about how Slipknot / Rammstein / Alice Cooper / Metallica / someone else would be ashamed of us for ruining their song (we're not sorry btw).
Kittens - this one's for you."
J, T & Z x
Following is The Lounge Kittens' original statement announcing they were calling it quits:
"Despite your unwavering support and generosity, we have struggled to keep TLK financially viable over the years, and although it’s never been ‘about the money’, when we add the financial strain to the demands of our own lives and our individual wants and needs, we have simply come to the point where it’s all just a bit too hard. What we don’t want to happen is to reach the point where it’s all too hard and it stops being any fun because the fun, dear Kittens, was always the only reason to do any of this.
We want to assure you that through a lot of honest conversation, our decision was made with love and care for each other, and for you all.
A social media post cannot adequately describe what being in TLK has done for each of us and we understand that some of you hold your memories and experiences of TLK just as closely as we do.
As always, big Kitten love. It’s been a helluva ride!"
The Lounge Kittens posted a special medley back in 2016. Some of the artists featured in the clip below include KISS, Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, Muse, Billy Idol, Five Finger Death Punch, DragonForce and In Flames.

"So we have looked through some footage we filmed over the last few years and put together this awesome little video for 'The Devil's Whip', a track that will appear on our upcoming digital live album Rough & Ready, Live & Loud."
"We are all really missing being able to hit the road and the festival stages, so we hope that this short blast of heavy metal goodness helps relieve the boredom of isolation and inspires some booze-fuelled parties over the coming weeks, months or years!"
"Captured live at various shows between 2016 and 2019, this release is a definitive collection of songs from our entire catalogue," says Ward. "With no live shows to go to, Rough & Ready, Live & Loud gives the listeners an opportunity to experience Orange Goblin in their own home, preferably with a lot of cold beers and shots!"

We now present to you a relic from that ancient time-lost era; a 'live concert'! Behold in wonder as 3000 people stand shoulder to shoulder in a room without becoming deathly ill! Marvel at the careless abandon as 5 talentless musicians play a show for 90 minutes without once washing their hands! Recoil in horror as a 2 metre tall man inhales several beers in swift succession! Most importantly though, stay home, stay safe, and enjoy the show!"

BUSH's official Jesse Davey-directed music video for the song "Bullet Holes" can be seen below. The song is featured in the newly released film "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum"" and was written with film composer Tyler Bates, who has previously worked with Marilyn Manson.
"'Bullet Holes' is one of four songs Gavin Rossdale and I wrote together for the forthcoming BUSH record," says Bates. "At that time, I was working on the score for this film, and once Gavin sang the chorus, I felt the song would be a perfect complement to the movie. We sent the track to the director, Chad Stahelski, and he was into it. We are very psyched that this song is now part of the John Wick world."
It is not clear if "Bullet Holes" will also appear on BUSH's next studio album, "The Mind Plays Tricks On You", which is tentatively due in the fall. The disc was recently recorded at a Los Angeles studio.
Rossdale told SiriusXM's Larry Flick about how "Bullet Holes" came together: "Ironically, it was completely written disconnected to the movie. I've done this record with Tyler Bates, and he's doing the music for the whole movie. And I wrote that song with him with nothing of that in mind; actually, a different song we had in mind we were hoping for. And then just the way that the words that I wrote just really fit with the whole symphony thing, and bullet holes, obviously, 'cause that's what the song is called."
Rossdale recently told Consequence Of Sound that BUSH's new album turned out more aggressive than some of the band's recent efforts. He explained: "I decided to make a really heavy record. The last record I made was a bit more commercially minded because for whatever reason, I wanted to do that. But this time I was [inspired by] playing so many live shows and all these heavy metal festivals.
"I worked with Tyler Bates and I've written four songs with him, and he co-produced the rest of the album," he continued. "Tyler is a fantastic musician and songwriter and it's just great. The band is sounding great and I think the songs came together great… It's going to devastate people."
BUSH will hit the road with LIVE later this spring. "The Alt-Imate Tour", a co-headline summer run, will see BUSH and LIVE celebrating the 25th anniversary of their respective landmark albums "Sixteen Stone" and "Throwing Copper". Produced by Live Nation, this hits-packed road show will hit arenas and outdoor amphitheaters in 33 cities across the country, kicking off June 6 in Mashantucket, Connecticut, with stops in Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta and more before wrapping September 8 in Rochester, Michigan at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre.
BUSH's latest effort, 2017's "Black And White Rainbows", was crafted after the frontman went through a divorce with pop star/reality TV judge Gwen Stefani in 2015.
BUSH's current lineup also includes drummer Robin Goodridge, guitarist Chris Traynor and bassist Corey Britz.
The group, which broke up in 2002 but reunited in 2010, has released three albums since reforming.
The official animated music video for "The Winter Of Our Passing", the latest single from KATATONIA, can be seen below. The track is taken from the Swedish band's new album, "City Burials", which is being released today (Friday, April 24) via Peaceville Records. The clip was created by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media.
Vocalist Jonas Renkse states: "'The Winter of Our Passing' — masterly percieved by Costin Chioreanu. The letting go of what once was of great importance, now reduced to just another loss. Let's bow before the flame we've all deserted. But thank you for listening."
KATATONIA, formed in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström, and transitioning from early pioneers of the rising black/death/doom movement, to powerhouses of the progressive metallic rock genre. Following on from their 2016 haunting "The Fall Of Hearts" album KATATONIA have returned with arguably their finest album to date, the enormously vivid and powerful "City Burials".
With the winds of a new direction steering the band on their latest journey, "City Burials" stands as KATATONIA's new triumph of deep and enigmatic progressive rock — the fruits of a rejuvenating and profound chapter in the band's legacy; a catalyst for its creators, with a collection of moments constructed out of the fragments of an ever-evolving life. Compiled into one of their most important modern works and statements to date, the finely honed instrumentation provides a multi-textured backdrop with the voice of Jonas Renkse guiding us through these latest trials of loss and ruin.
The proof of Jonas and Anders's enduring artistic bond is displayed throughout "City Burials" absorbing 58 minutes of meticulously crafted melodies and inspired, idiosyncratic arrangements. From the spine-tingling dynamics of opener "Heart Set To Divide" through and the simmering menace of "Lacquer" to the wildly evocative sorrow-scapes of "City Glaciers" and the exquisitely delicate "Vanishers" (featuring a guest vocal from Anni Bernhard, of Stockholm art rockers FULL OF KEYS) KATATONIA's eleventh studio album is a showcase for a partnership that was magical from the very start.
Inspired by an injection of fresh blood into KATATONIA's creative brew, with their most recent recruit, guitarist Roger Öjersson, whose contributions have been extremely significant, "City Burials" is an album that sees the band reclaim part of their heavy metal roots, via several moments of exuberant, old-school classicism, deftly woven into these new songs' kaleidoscopic fabric. Although songs like "Behind The Blood" and "Rein" are as heart-rending and immersive as any in KATATONIA's illustrious catalogue.
The result is an album that looks certain to push the band ever further into the spotlight. With grand plans for extensive touring around the world in support of their latest and perhaps greatest album, KATATONIA are wringing fresh hope from life's gloom-sodden tapestry.
"City Burials" was produced by Nyström/Renkse and recorded at Soundtrade Studios, Tri-Lamb Studios and The City Of Glass throughout October and November 2019, with engineering work handled by Karl Daniel Lidén and mixing and mastering from Jacob Hansen, who states: "Once in a while, you end up working with artists that are special, and that particular session being something you'll remember forever. This session is one of them, and only for good things! Proud to say I mixed and mastered the new KATATONIA album."
"City Burials" also sees the return to the KATATONIA fold of Anders Eriksson (FRANK DEFAULT) beloved for his keyboard contributions to "Night Is The New Day", "Dead End Kings" and various remixes. Artwork appears courtesy of Lasse Hoile, the image itself representing the ongoing era of the "Dead End King".
ALTER BRIDGE has released a new music video for the song "You Will Be Remembered" from the band's 2016 album "The Last Hero". The clip is a poignant tribute to the first responders and frontline workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti stated about the clip: "We wrote 'You Will Be Remembered' as a tribute to anyone who gives of themselves in service to others. In this current climate, those stories are around us every day and we just wanted to offer our own small visual tribute to some of those people. There are numerous stories and we want to thank everyone that is doing their part to get us through this unprecedented time. Thank you."
ALTER BRIDGE recently postponed its previously announced U.S. headlining tour with special guests BLACK STONE CHERRY and SAINT ASONIA due to the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the globe.
In an effort to show support to everyone being affected by the global pandemic, Myles Kennedy recently performed acoustic in partnership with American Songwriter for their "Behind The Mic" series. Aside from discussing songwriting and his musical inspirations in front of a live global audience on Facebook, Myles performed songs from various projects including ALTER BRIDGE, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS, and his critically acclaimed debut solo album from 2018. The live event has been viewed over 470,000 times on Facebook and is now live on YouTube.
ALTER BRIDGE's latest album, "Walk The Sky", was released in October via Napalm Records.
