SPIRIT ADRIFT Release "Hanged Man's Revenge"; Ghost At The Gallows Album Out Now

Spirit Adrift have released a video for "Hanged Man's Revenge", a song from the band's new album, Ghost At The Gallows, out now via Century Media. Watch the clip below, and order the album here.

Says the band’s mastermind, Nate Garrett: "Death has been an up close and personal part of my life since I was a young child. When I began writing Ghost At The Gallows, the spectre of death hung as constant as ever. This album navigates a world where ghosts are real, and they haunt us in the form of grief, trauma, and loss. Despite the subject matter, the songs aren’t just downtrodden dirges. The music is diverse and dynamic, ranging from mournful, southern-tinged acoustic passages all the way to aggressive speed metal assaults… and everything in between. And like every entry in the Spirit Adrift catalog, the deepest aim of the lyrics is to find good in the bad, strength in weakness, and hope in darkness. It wasn’t until I finished the record that I realized all the stages of grief are present on this album. Maybe these songs were my subconscious attempt at facilitating my own grieving process. Either way, this record helps me, and I hope it helps whoever else needs it."

BABYMETAL Teams Up With TOM MORELLO On New Single 'Metali!!'

Japanese pop-metal band BABYMETAL has released a new single, "Metali!!", featuring a guest appearance by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello. This is officially the first song by the newly reborn BABYMETAL, now consisting of Su-Metal, Moametal and the band's latest addition, Momometal. This up-tempo track was created with the vision of the band's audience forming a circle in a metal village-based summer festival.

On the new single and collaboration, Morello comments: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"

BABYMETAL is featured on worldwide rapping phenom Lil Uzi Vert's recently released album "Pink Tape", which topped the Billboard 200 chart.

This past April, BABYMETAL announced the addition of a new third member, Momoko Okazaki, who goes by the name of Momometal.

Okazaki had been a member of BABYMETAL's trio of backup dancers (along with Kano Fujihira and Riho Sayashi),known as "Avengers", since 2019, following the departure of one of BABYMETAL's original members, Yuimetal, in October 2018.

Momoko's addition to BABYMETAL was announced during the band's show at the Pia Arena MM in Okazaki, Japan.

Momoko was once a member of SAKURA GAKUIN and participated in South Korean reality TV show "Girls Planet 999" as a contestant. However, the singer left the series after the show's first elimination round.

In 2018, BABYMETAL announced the departure of Yuimetal, who was formerly one of the members of the Japanese group's core trio. She exited the band, explaining in a statement that she would go on to pursue a solo career as Mizuno Yu.

BABYMETAL was formed in 2010. Their mission was to unify the world through heavy metal by creating a fusion of heavy metal and the Japanese pop genre. Their music contains a stunning mix of electronic pop, a pinch of alternative and industrial rock, and is leveled up by fast-driven heavy metal. Their live shows are ground-breaking and epic visual as well as sound performances. BABYMETAL continued to travel the path of metal with the international release of their three albums, telling the story of the mighty Fox God and his brave metal warriors.

A book about the first ten years of BABYMETAL, "Bessatsu Kadokawa Souryoku Tokushuu", was released in Japan in October 2020. It contains a long interview with Su-metal and Moametal as well as never-before-heard stories from band producer Kobametal from BABYMETAL's decade-long history, photos taken from live shows, a discussion between Demon Kakka and Kobametal, and much more.

BABYMETAL's latest concept album "The Other One", was released in March.

Later this month, BABYMETAL will embark on a co-headline tour with DETHKLOK, the on-screen heavy metal band and stars of Adult Swim's "Metalocalypse", and support from virtuoso guitarist Jason Richardson. BABYMETAL's first time back to the U.S. since before the pandemic, the 29-date Live Nation-produced "Babyklok" trek will kick off August 30 in Houston, Texas, hitting Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, and many more before wrapping October 11 at Los Angeles's YouTube Theater. The tour will support BABYMETAL's recent, first-ever concept album "The Other One".

(HED) P.E. Releases Title Track Of Upcoming Album 'Detox'

Long-running SoCal band (HED) P.E. will release a new album, "Detox", early next year via Suburban Noize Records. The official animated video for the LP's title track can be seen below. The clip is the first installment in a series that combines the art of the legendary Jim "Taz" Evans, the music of (HED) P.E. and a storyline written years ago by Kevin Zinger of Suburban Noize/Regime. The story, and art were all pre-existing elements blended together with the music to make a new animated movie called "Detox: Planet Earth". The animated series will be released chapter by chapter and then in its entirety with the drop of the entire new (HED) P.E. album.

"I wrote this story years ago with no plans of it going anywhere and one day I was looking at the body of work of Taz and thought this art is the perfect visual for it," commented Kevin Zinger. "Some years went by and [(HED) P.E. frontman] Jared [Gomes] sent me the new (HED) P.E. record and it dawned on me. I've never seen anyone take pre-existing elements like this and mix them together to make something new. It was a challenge for sure but it came together unreal with the help of animator Bonez. And now it's a full-blown animated movie with (HED) P.E. as the soundtrack."

The story is a weaving narrative of a futuristic America that has undergone a metamorphosis into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Within this desolate terrain, a resilient group has formed, known as the New World Orphans. Bound together, they stand against government corruption, greed, and the degradation of the environment. The New World Orphans embody humanity's ultimate chance for survival, positioned to embark on the vital mission of cleansing the planet of its toxicity. This first release is a foreshadow of what is to come.

"Detox" was recorded at Jared's home studio, with production and songwriting led by Remy Dovianus and engineering/mixing by Ulrich Wild (known for his work with PANTERA, DEFTONES and STATIC-X). Gomes delved into the G-Punk essence reminiscent of their earlier albums, capturing the chaotic energy and all the distinctive elements of the (HED) P.E. signature sound. Wild undertook the mixing and mastering, skillfully harmonizing raw aggression, braggadocious hip-hop, and unfiltered hardcore to create a seamlessly integrated auditory experience.

Gomes shared: "This album marks a return to the cherished G-Punk sound that (HED) P.E. fans know and adore. When listeners hear this record, its familiarity will be striking because it encapsulates the essence of (HED) P.E."

He continued, "The 'Detox' album embarks on a spiritual journey from a state of chemical enslavement to self-liberation, and then, ironically, back again. I composed this from an intimately personal standpoint, as I grappled with addiction throughout my life."

"On this album, I'm unapologetically candid, addressing topics such as sexuality, substance use, and a hardcore lifestyle. I've incorporated more rap elements, and the music is notably heavier and thrash-oriented. I discovered the inspiration to delve into some gritty subjects. Balancing parenthood brings a unique challenge to finding 'alone' time with one's spouse, akin to a covert mission that must be accomplished at all costs! This album truly grants the audience what they've longed for, without compromising artistic integrity."

He added: "The album's title, 'Detox', stems from a period post-pandemic where I found myself engulfed in a sea of red wine, attempting to make sense of my thoughts amidst the influence of various substances in my mind. At a critical juncture, I confronted my struggles with substance abuse. This inner battle became the focal point of the album's narrative, addressing a topic I'm all too familiar with — addiction."

The unvarnished, raw honesty of this narrative compelled Gomes and the band to embrace their bold and provocative history, leveraging it as a stark contrast to more politically correct releases. While albums like the 2005's "Only In Amerika" reacted intentionally against the radio-friendly sound of prior works, "Detox" boldly extends a middle finger to mainstream conventions.

(HED) P.E. stands as pioneers of the G-Punk genre, an innovative blend of punk-rock, metal, hip-hop, and reggae. With a career spanning over two decades, the band has toured worldwide, sharing stages with rock heavyweights like PAPA ROACH and LINKIN PARK, hardcore icons SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and the iconic Ozzfest tour. The band's partnership with Suburban Noize Records in the early 2000s fueled a creative resurgence, contributing significantly to the flourishing underground music scene.

11. Perdido En El Espacio
12. Odio Que Amo
13. Testamento 3.0
14. Covid-666

16. Cocaína

"Esto Es Brujeria" was recorded worldwide at the following studios: Dog Run Studio in Riverside, California; Total Annihilation Studios in East Los Angeles, California; Robanna's in Birmingham, United Kingdom; and Audiocustom in Santiago, Chile. Production of the record was handled by the band while engineering was a joint effort between Eddie Casillas, Eddie Rivas and Miguel Seco. The mixing and mastering of the album was completed by Seba Puente who was also a part of the engineering team. The album artwork was created by Gary Ronaldson. "Esto Es Brujeria" sees the return of their metal mascot Coco Loco who is emblazoned on the ferocious cover.

In June 2020, BRUJERIA released a digital single, "COVID-666", via Nuclear Blast Records. It was accompanied by a quarantine-style music video for the title track, directed by Juan Brujo.

BRUJERIA's most recent album, 2016's "Pocho Aztlan", was the band's first release since "Brujerizmo" came out in 2000 via Roadrunner. It was recorded over the course of many years and at several studios around the globe. The end result was mixed by Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, THE EXPLOITED).

In a 2015 interview with The Moshville Times, Brujo said that BRUJERIA was never meant to be a touring band. "We only ever meant to make some records. What it was, was back in L.A. in 1989, there was a metal scene which included grind and hardcore stuff. There was a band called TERRORIZER, and they wouldn't let them play in the normal clubs so they'd play in backyards in the Mexican parts of town. We would go — in the backyard of someone's house — and none of the fans there watching the show spoke English. All these Mexicans — there are a lot of Mexicans in L.A., so we just thought, 'We have to start a band that sings in Spanish. Give them what they want.'

"There were issues with some of the guys — 'I've got a contract with my other band,' 'I might be on the road' — but we were only ever going to make music; we were never going to tour it. Just make music in Spanish and see how it went. We did the first record in a day at the studio. We had nothing written; we had no drummer… we just showed up. Someone who'd never played drums in their lives was playing drums. We recorded four songs and when we left, we gave a copy to a Mexican kid and a white guy — one of those hardcore dudes, just someone who didn't speak Spanish. The next day we met the hardcore guy again and he had a patch on his arm. He'd got a BRUJERIA tattoo. He wanted to be the first guy with a BRUJERIA tattoo. The day after we recorded the songs. The Mexican guy — he didn't speak any English — we saw him a couple of days later and he'd memorized all the words. I mean, they're really [makes harsh vocal noises] but he'd listened to them about a thousand times and worked them all out. He was singing them to us there and that's when we thought, 'This thing is gonna work.'"

BRUJERIA is:

Juan Brujo, Sangron - Vocals
Fantasma - Vocals
Pinche Peach - Vocals
La Encabronada - Vocals
El Criminal - Guitars
El Embrujado - Guitars
Hongo - Bass
El Cynico - Bass
Hongo Jr. - Drums

END To Release The Sin Of Human Frailty Album In October; "Gaping Wounds Of Earth" Music Video Posted

End - guitarist Will Putney, vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarist Gregory Thomas, bassist Jay Pepito, and drummer Matt Guglielmo - will release their second album The Sin Of Human Frailty on October 27 via Closed Casket Activities. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared the video for the enraged first singe, "Gaping Wounds Of Earth". Watch the clip below.

"'Gaping Wounds Of Earth' is a jarring and chaotic exploration into what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own skin," the band says. "The spiral of a broken human continues. As in all our work, there is no light at the end of this tunnel."

End initially materialized during 2017. The group's From the Unforgiving Arms of God EP spawned the fan favorite "Necessary Death," and lead to a signing with label Closed Casket Activities. Highlighted by "Covet Not" and "Absence," the band bulldozed the senses with their 2020 full-length debut, Splinters From An Ever-Changing Face.

In 2023, the members congregated once again to write and recorded what would become this sophomore release. "Part of the goal was to do things our way," states Putney. "We didn't want to lean on our influences too heavily, whether it's in terms of production, guitar tone, arrangement, or other elements. We were like, 'Let's just make a record that sounds like End.' I feel like there's more of an identity to the band than there has ever been on this record."

The final result is a unique blend of HM2 driven grind and metallic hardcore cross over with moments of Industrial chaos over ten tracks. Featuring guest vocal appearances by J.R. Hayes (Pig Destroyer), Debbie Gough (Heriot), and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell), this Graphic Nature Audio recording clocks in over 30 minutes of unhinged aggression and grind.

Produced and engineered by Will Putney and featuring the art of Alex Eckman-Lawn, this release pushes the complexity of End, both sonically and visually. Vinyl comes packaged in a ten panel die-cut jacket, pressed on deluxe colored vinyl and with a digital download code.

The Sin Of Human Frailty tracklisting:

"A Predator Yourself"
"Gaping Wounds Of Earth"
"The Sin Of Human Frailty"
"Thaw"
"Embodiment Of Grief"
"Twice Devoured Kill"
"Worthless Is The Lamb"

HARM’S WAY Share Single, Video “Devour”; Announce North American Tour

Hardcore forerunners Harm's Way have released their frenetic new single "Devour" which examines the impact of toxic relationships.

The band tell, "'Devour' is an expression of self-reflection following the realization that everything that was once there to give has been spent. Led down a path of deception and manipulation, one's sense of self has been lost along the way. 'Devour' is the process of waking up to your isolation, with actions and purpose that are somehow no longer your own. It's a crossroads that can lead you either the rest of the way down, or back to where whatever's lost may be found again."

For nearly two decades, Harm’s Way has evolved from whispered underground favorites to favorite sons with an arsenal of songs that helped shape heavy music’s trajectory – creating a roadmap for legions interested in “reinventing” themselves. Harm’s Way has never stayed complacent and constantly morphed shape– absorbing and reapplying influences in new and creative ways to create some of the most well-executed songs in hardcore punk and metal. And yet, considering the changeling that they and their previous efforts are, Common Suffering is easily the most musically diverse undertaking in their catalog.

Despite Harm’s Way’s reputation for unrelenting brutality, Common Suffering surprises at several turns with quieter moments of well thought out songwriting that emphasize light and shade. It’s their understanding of how to effectively orchestrate these dynamics that makes an already ironclad record feel infinitely more merciless. This is Harm’s Way at the top of their game – the ambitious sound of a band traversing new ideas. “We really tried not to settle on parts,” recalls guitarist Nick Gauthier. “Sometimes a direction that we could have taken in a song felt too obvious… We would just troubleshoot that until we felt creatively satisfied with the direction we were taking.”

The key to the success may be a shift to recording at Studio 4 in Pennsylvania with producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Code Orange). Going into the recording, the goal was to improve some of the band's processes, examine vocal cadences and experiment during production to gain the best idea from each track. The first change dealt with refocusing members on their specific wheelhouses. While Pligge had previously assisted with riffs, on this effort, his main objective was to ensure the perfect vocal attack– leaning into Yip for advice and letting the remainder of the band take the wheel with their respective parts. The result is each player pushing to the far reaches and creating material that has previously never been colonized by any band, or hardcore writ large, before.

The title Common Suffering is a clear nod to the collective experiences of the past three years of chaos, misanthropy, paranoia, disorder, confusion and anxiety, with the band exploring themes ranging from personal struggles with mental health, relationships, political upheaval, corruption, and political power. Pligge digs deep into these subjects such as the track “Cyanide,” which examines the expansion of media outlets, the correlative rise of disinformation, and the pervasive impact it has on people’s lives and systems of power. Additional tracks include “Devour,” which examines the impact of toxic people in one’s life, the highly personal “Hollow Cry,” where Pligge explores his own humanity and relationships, and the somewhat improbable “Undertow,” which features the haunting vocals or Kristina Esfandiari--AKA King Woman--who adds a whole new dimension to the record and helps exhibit the band’s willingness to push into uncharted territory.

Common Suffering sees its release September 29 across all digital streaming platforms, vinyl and CD formats via Metal Blade Records.

VARG To Release Ewige Wacht Album In October; "Immer Treu" Single And Music Video Out Now

Varg, Germany’s top-notch pagan metal force, returns stronger than ever on their new album, entitled Ewige Wacht (Engl. Eternal Vigil), to be released on October 13 via Napalm Records. With their last and most successful record to date, Zeichen (Engl. Signs, 2020, #16 in the German album charts), Varg put the thematic and musical focus completely on their pagan roots. On their brand new brainchild, the wolves follow this path unwaveringly, honestly, authentically and raw, and impressively manifest their reincarnation and matchless standing on top of the scene.

The eighth studio album transports Nordic mythology as well as values like honesty and loyalty. Varg once again show themselves to be an invincible unit, as the first single and opening track "Immer Treu" (Engl. Always Faithful) already is proof of. Upon very first listen, it becomes apparent how involved singer Fylgja has been in the full album process this time around. Her valkyrie-like singing expands the band's sonic spectrum and forms a perfectly harmonizing contrast to Freki's razor-sharp screams and growls.

Fylgja on “Immer Treu”: "’Immer Treu’ is a song that stands for many things. For fortitude, strength and loyalty. But it also underlines that hate, based on different views like for example in terms of religion, is absolutely bad and senseless. In the end we are all the same and should accept and respect each other. It stands for the freedom to be what we want to be."

Watch the official music video for “Immer Treu” below.

Songs such as "Schildmaid" (shieldmaiden), "Fylgja" and "Eisenseite" are emblematic of the striking interplay between both vocalists and the path Varg have been treading since Zeichen. "Weltenfeind" (enemy of the world), "Tyr" and "Hammer" resound as powerful hymns, uncompromising with mercilessly brute nagging and cutting riffs. The folky melodies in "Morgenrot" (dawn) lead to the epic "Siegreiches Heer" (victorious army), which once again sharpens the idea of unity that runs like a red thread through Ewige Wacht.  The title track forms the final climax and combines pagan themes, haunting melodies and the engaging power of the wolves to end this outstanding sonic adventure, leading into promising times for the German horde.

Freki adds: "Ewige Wacht is both our most emotional and strongest album. It is a journey through Nordic mythology that tells of old stories and the protection and preservation of the flame of our ancestors. Traditions and values like family, fortitude and desire are like a common thread running through the entire record. Uncompromising harshness meets epic and sustaining melodies. Authentically raw production and yet more powerful and mighty than ever. This album will pierce the hearts of our fans, because it comes deeply from ours.”

Ewige Wacht will be available in the following formats:

- Deluxe Box  (incl. Digipac, drinking horn, bottle of mead, pendant) - limited to 500 copies
- 2CD Digipac in Slipcase (28 pages, bonus: guest vocal album)
- 1LP Gatefold (Marbled) - limited to 100 copies
- 1LP Gatefold
- 1CD Jewel Case
- Digital Album

Pre-order here.

Ewige Wacht tracklisting:

"Immer Treu"
"Schildmaid"
"Weltenfeind"
"Fylgja"
"Tyr"
"Járnsíðasleið"
"Eisenseite"
"Hammer"

"Siegreiches Heer"
"Ewige Wacht"

"Immer Treu" video:

Varg undoubtedly stand as a firmly rooted, leading entity in the German pagan scene that has been gathering fans around the world for over 18 years of the band's existence, touring Europe and North America, and have always driven their following upwards through numerous gigs at Europe's biggest festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Party.San and Metalfest. Even after all these years, Freki (vocals), Fylgja (vocals), Morkai (guitar) as well as the newest additions to the line-up, Ulvar (guitar, bass) and Rohgarr (drums,) still manage to provide incomparable sonic surprises to their devotees. The revitalized lineup with two highly talented and innovative musicians brings a breath of fresh air and leads Varg into a new chapter in the band's history. Grown artistic maturity meets a unique feeling of common bond between band and fans, which is reflected thematically in the new album. Ewige Wacht tells of myths and legends of long forgotten times and transfers them into the here and now in trademark multifaceted pagan garb.

WINGER Releases Music Video For 'Voodoo Fire'

WINGER has released the official music video for its latest single, "Voodoo Fire". The track is taken from the band's seventh studio album, "Seven" which was released in May via Frontiers Music Srl. The 12-track album was produced by WINGER frontman Kip Winger and recorded in Nashville.

In January, WINGER shot music videos for three of the songs from "Seven", including "Tears Of Blood", "It All Comes Back Around" and "Proud Desperado".

As with "Tears Of Blood", "It All Comes Back Around" and "Proud Desperado", the "Voodoo Fire" clip was directed by Jack Edward Sawyers.

WINGER's new LP is the follow-up to 2014's "Better Days Comin'".

In a recent interview with Metal Edge, Beach stated about "Seven": "Well, for starters, it took frickin' forever. But Kip Winger had a vision, and when that happens, we see it through until the end. The way it works for me is that I come in with stuff and show it to Kip, and when he hears a specific thing, we run with it. I mean, look, everyone knows I'm the '80s guy, so the riffs I'm offering up aren't anything alien. This stuff is true to what I've written with Kip in the past; they're very progressive and totally sound like WINGER being WINGER. Kip is really into the classical symphony thing, but we've made it heavy and super grandiose. Aside from that, Kip's voice is amazing, and I think he got some great solos out of me. I will say that this time around, Kip's lyrics are very intense, which made for this super intense record. This isn't like the first WINGER record; it's way more profound than that."

Regarding how WINGER has progressed from "Better Days Comin'", if at all, Beach said: "In a way, I'm the wrong guy to ask that question because I just do what I do best — play guitar how I always have. This record was Kip Winger's baby, so it's his thing to make all the calls on. I just come in, play a riff, and let Kip pick up on it so he can make a song out of it. Of course, I make suggestions, we're a great writing team, but Kip takes things to another level. As far as the progression, with 'Better Days Comin'', on my end, I lost interest in the second half of the record. But with this album, the whole thing is really good. There aren't any songs I dislike; every song is good, which is great for us. There's no question that 'Seven' is a strong record, and a lot of people are telling me they feel the same way. I think our last record was more fun and lighthearted, whereas this record is darker and will surprise listeners. I'd call it a step up for sure."

In the spring of 2020, WINGER invited artists, friends and fans — including Alice Cooper and members of SCORPIONS, STEELHEART and WARRANT — to sing along to "Better Days Comin'", the title track of the band's sixth studio album. An official music video for the new version of the song was made available in late April of that year.

WINGER formed in the late 1980s and soared to immediate success with its 1988 self-titled release. The album spawned the hit singles "Seventeen" and "Headed For A Heartbreak" and achieved platinum sales status. "Winger" also stayed on The Billboard 200 chart for over 60 weeks where it peaked at #21. Their next album, "In The Heart Of The Young", also achieved platinum status behind the singles "Can't Get Enuff" and "Miles Away". The change in musical climate of the mid-'90s, compounded with unprovoked ridicule on MTV's popular "Beavis And Butt-Head" show, led the band to go on hiatus in 1994. In 2001, WINGER reunited and has not looked back since. Kip also earned a 2016 Grammy nomination for the classical album "C.F. Kip Winger: Conversations With Nijinsky", recorded with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.

ATREYU Shares Music Video For 'Immortal'

ATREYU has released the music video for "Immortal". The track is taken from the band's "The Moment You Find Your Flame" EP, which is out now on Spinefarm.

"Immortal" carries a lesson to using negativity encountered from others as a powerful force to motivate and empower themselves. This concept is influenced by ATREYU's own experiences with fame and the challenges that come with it.

"We've never had things easy," frontman Brandon Saller said. "But the only thing that matters is doing what we love for the people that love us. That's a lesson that everyone can take something from: stay true to yourself and shut out any voices that would have you try to be what they want you to be, instead of what you are."

"The Moment You Find Your Flame", produced by ATREYU's longtime collaborator John Feldmann, reflects the struggle in recognizing one's self-worth and it touches on internal battles, self-doubt, and insecurities that can overshadow one's perception of their own abilities. The band has found its own flame, a metaphor for their soul-baring introspection and providing comfort and catharsis through music in the face of universal emotions that unite us all.

This four-track EP continues the journey set by "The Hope Of A Spark" EP, both integral parts of the upcoming album, "The Beautiful Dark Of Life", scheduled for release later this year. Together, the EPs form the concluding chapter of the profound "Seasons Of Life" narrative within the album.

"We draw strength from each other and give each other the space and support to be the best, most creative person we can be," guitarist Dan Jacobs explained. "And together, right now, that makes us the best band we've ever been."

"'The Moment You Find Your Flame' is the path you've set out on to recovery. You've followed the glimmer of hope and potential, and the way forward is beginning to reveal itself. But it is still only a little flame. It needs nurturing still," said bassist/vocalist Marc "Porter" McKnight.

"Everything that we have put out to this point has built up to this moment," concluded Jacobs. "Something special is happening with ATREYU right now. We can feel the creativity and collaboration when the five of us get in the studio. We can feel the confidence we all give each other when we stand on stage together. And we can see it in the audience when they're losing their minds. They're having as good a time as we are ourselves."

"The Moment You Find Your Flame" track listing:

01. Good Enough
02. Immortal
03. Gone
04. I Don't Wanna Die

ATREYU will co-headline with MEMPHIS MAY FIRE on the "We Want Your Misery" tour starting August 27 in Ventura at the Ventura Theater with CATCH YOUR BREATH and ANOTHER DAY DAWNS as support.

ATREYU will join GODSMACK on September 5 in Pensacola at the Pensacola Bay Center for select dates then head back out on the "We Want Your Misery" tour followed by their Canadian run with IRON MAIDEN starting September 28.

ATREYU will perform at California – Is For Lovers and Rocklahoma 2023 ahead of the Canada dates.

ATREYU ushered in a new movement in heavy music. Their music seamlessly intertwines with formative experiences for a diverse legion of dedicated listeners, many of whom started their own bands. They've broken into the Top 10 in the Billboard 200 more than once; two of their albums, "The Curse" and "Lead Sails Paper Anchor", are certified gold with two million albums sold worldwide and an encompassing 600 million streams. Their most recent album, "Baptize", has clocked 65 million streams alongside a Top 10 at rock radio hit with "Warrior" featuring Travis Barker.

Where once the band was heralded as the early innovators of the nascent metalcore scene, their place in heavy music's diverse and boundary-breaking scene has never felt more relevant, with inspirations of pop-punk, hardcore, thrash, '80s rock, and more melding into a unique and varied sound that has never felt more relevant than in today's increasingly genreless world.

With a 20-year career and eight acclaimed albums in the rear-view mirror, ATREYU in 2023 is focused only on the present and the future, and a mission to continue shaping and defining the rock and metal scene, just as they have always done since their emergence from Huntington Beach in Southern California.

Watch: GUNS N' ROSES Releases Official Music Video For 'Perhaps'

The official music video for the new GUNS N' ROSES single "Perhaps" can be seen below.

The official release of the shelved "Chinese Democracy"-era song, which was originally expected to be made available last Friday (August 11),comes less than a week after the track was leaked on TouchTunes machines at bars and other locations. As the fans showed up at their favorite watering hole and went to play a GN'R song, they noticed the new selection in their catalog. The track came with what was the official single cover art, and was attributed to Geffen Records, which is the band's longtime record label home owned by Universal Music Group.

GUNS N' ROSES reportedly soundchecked "Perhaps" ahead of the band's concert in Tel Aviv, Israel on June 5 but ended up not performing it at the gig. However, astute fans who stood outside the venue during soundcheck were quick to bust out their phones and record the rehearsal, with low-quality clips surfacing online immediately thereafter.

Like GUNS N' ROSES' 2021 single "Hard Skool", "Perhaps" was originally written and recorded during the sessions for "Chinese Democracy", and a rough demo version of the song had previously been leaked and uploaded to YouTube.

Last month, GUNS N' ROSES' longtime production manager Tom Mayhue confirmed that a new single from the band was coming soon.

Mayhue discussed the Axl Rose-fronted outfit's future plans while speaking to the media ahead of GUNS N' ROSES' July 13 concert in Paris, France. Noting that GN'R will finish the North American leg of its tour in mid-October, he added: "And I know that the band's gonna start working on new music. They've got a bunch of stuff recorded already. So there will be new GUNS N' ROSES music very soon. In fact, I think they're trying to get a single out any day now, so you may hear something very, very soon."

Regarding what the new GUNS N' ROSES material sounds like, Mayhue said: "It sounds great. It's a lot more kind of 'Appetite [For Destruction]'-orientated. They had a lot of songs. When the band went in originally and recorded 'Appetite For Destruction', I think they recorded, like, 29 songs. So there's a bunch of other music that was left over that didn't make the first record. I think there's only 11 songs on the first record."

This past June, Oslo's Urban Sound Studios shared a new photo of Rose and GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash, apparently taken the day after the band's performance at the Tons Of Rock festival in Norway's capital city. The picture was posted on the Urban Sound Studios Instagram account along with the following message: "We got to hang out with these 2 rock legends in the studio today. Really cool guys! (The two in the middle...). The band wanted a nice studio with a variety of speakers and headphones to listen to new mixes before they head for Glastonbury. It sounds awesome!"

During an October 2022 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" show, Slash was asked about GUNS N' ROSES' plans for new music in the coming months. He said: "I wanna go in and cut a whole brand new record at some point, probably sooner than later. But other than that, we have stuff that we've still got to come out. So that's gonna be coming out piecemeal over the next — I don't know — over the next few months or something like that. So that's basically it. We have one more tour left to do next summer, and then that'll free us up to be able to go in and work on a new record."

GUNS N' ROSES' most recent release was a four-song EP, "Hard Skool", which came out in February 2022. The effort, which was exclusive to the GUNS N' ROSES' official store, contained the two new songs the band released in 2021 — the title track and "Absurd" (stylized as "ABSUЯD") — as well as live versions of "Don't Cry" and "You're Crazy".

In September 2021, the guitarist and his bandmates dropped "Hard Skool", which came more than a month after their performance and subsequent official release of "Absurd", a reworking of GUNS N' ROSES previously unreleased "Silkworms".

According to Slash, several other older GUNS N' ROSES tracks have also been reworked during the pandemic. "There's a handful of those songs that we actually fixed up and did when we were in lockdown," he explained to "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". "So those have yet to be released. So those are gonna come out. They're really good, too. So I'm excited for those. We're just gonna put out like one or two songs, and another one or two songs. And I think that's gonna be pretty much all of 'em. I'm not sure exactly how many we did in total."

When host Eddie Trunk noted that "Hard Skool" in particular was a strong cut, Slash said: "These other ones, they don't have the same kind of amount of history, 'cause I know 'Hard Skool' seriously has… [it] goes way back. But there's a couple of epic ones coming out, so I'm excited about that."

If and when it happens, the new GUNS N' ROSES studio album will be the first under the GUNS banner since "Chinese Democracy" and the first to feature Slash, singer Axl Rose and bassist Duff McKagan since 1993.

Slash previously spoke about "Hard Skool", one of the first two songs he recorded with GUNS N' ROSES in more than 25 years, this past February in an interview with Rolling Stone. At the time he said: "'Hard Skool', in essence, was a completed song when I was first introduced to it. And Duff and I went in and redid the bass and the guitars. It's a simple song, so it didn't take a hell of a lot of thought and analysis. I think it was a lot of fun just because it was part and parcel of a bunch of stuff that we were working on that was all sort of new — at least to Duff and I — so we had a good time."

In October 2021, Slash told Audacy Check In host Remy Maxwell that GUNS N' ROSES had yet to begin writing new material after releasing the two reworked songs from the "Chinese Democracy"-era sessions.

"As far as new GUNS is concerned, we haven't even gotten to that point of really in earnest sitting down and writing," Slash said. "We've been doing a lot of material that's been sort of sitting around for a while. So that will be a whole focused endeavor unto itself."

As for how "Hard Skool" and "Absurd" came about, Slash said: "They both have a lot of history. What happened was Axl has all these songs that he recorded at some point along the way. And so Duff and I went in and re-did them, basically… Like, I wrote my own kind of parts to what else is going on, and [we] just sort of took the drums and re-did everything else."

Written by Rose and co-produced by Rose and Caram Costanzo, "Hard Skool", which had the working title "Jackie Chan", was originally recorded during GN'R's "Chinese Democracy" era but was eventually omitted from that album. Short clips of the song were later posted online and a full version was leaked in August 2019.

On "Hard Skool", Axl sings: "But you had to play it cool, had to do it your way/Had to be a fool, had to throw it all away/Too hard school and you thought you were here to stay/ If that were true, it wouldn't matter anyway."

"Absurd" came out on August 6, 2021, three days after GUNS N' ROSES performed the tune live for the first time during its concert at Boston's Fenway Park.

GUNS N' ROSES last performed "Silkworms", which was also reportedly written during the "Chinese Democracy" sessions, in 2001.

BAD WOLVES Announce Fourth Album 'Die About It', Share 'Legends Never Die' Track

BAD WOLVES will release their fourth full-length album, "Die About It", on November 3 via Better Noise Music. Nodding to inspirations as diverse as THE 1975 and MESHUGGAH, BAD WOLVES challenged themselves to experiment and redefine their sound on "Die About It" with trusted collaborator Josh Gilbert (AS I LAY DYING) who co-produced the album alongside John Boecklin (drums) and Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz (vocals). With a story that emphasizes the sarcastic statement pointed towards those defending their own beliefs into absurdity, wrong or right, BAD WOLVES believe if you're gonna cry about it, then you might as well "Die About It".

"We definitely challenged ourselves to experiment, but we maintained a heavier edge," notes Boecklin. "We spent a lot of time making sure these songs weren't all the same, which was important to us. We tried to push the possibilities of what you can do with heavy music. This is as fresh of a start as you can get on your fourth album."

"Nobody is against any idea in the studio," says DL. "That's the most beautiful thing about this. There's no limitations. We went to the far ends of the really soft and the extreme. We made it a point to separate ourselves from the past and make this our own."

Following the release of "Die About It"'s opener and lead single "Bad Friend" on July 21, BAD WOLVES today have unveiled a hypnotic new track "Legends Never Die" across all digital platforms.

"We wanted to write a song for our heroes, whether that's our children, mothers, fathers or the likes of, sending their stories into eternity, forever igniting spirits and imaginations of those who follow," DL shares. "With every retelling, their legacies resonate forever. This song reminds us that true greatness can never be extinguished. Legends NEVER die."

"Die About It" track listing:

01. Intro
02. Bad Friend
03. Die About It
04. Savior
05. Hungry For Life
06. Legends Never Die
07. NDA
08. Move On
09. Masquerade
10. Say It Again
11. It's You (2 Months)
12. Turn It Down
13. Set You On Fire

BAD WOLVES will hit the road across the U.S. this fall with Better Noise Music labelmates ASKING ALEXANDRIA and THE HU on their co-headlining "Psycho Thunder" tour from August 30 to October 8.

Since 2018, BAD WOLVES, whose lineup consists of John Boecklin (drums),Doc Coyle (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Kyle Konkiel (bass, backing vocals),have earned a platinum plaque, topped iTunes, and continued to rule Active Rock radio charts with six No. 1 singles ("Hear Me Now", "Killing Me Slowly", "Lifeline", "Remember When", "Sober" and "Zombie") and two Top 10 singles ("If Tomorrow Never Comes" at No. 2 and "Learn To Walk Again" at No. 10). Their debut album, "Disobey", made a Top 25 debut on the Billboard Top 200 and saw BAD WOLVES perform to sold-out audiences on multiple continents with heavyweights such as FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and MEGADETH. 2019's "N.A.T.I.O.N." brought their total stream tally past the half-billion mark — unprecedented for a modern rock band. On top of that, Loudwire hailed it among the "50 Best Rock Albums of 2019" as Billboard and Consequence Of Sound chronicled their rise. In the midst of 2021, they welcomed Laskiewicz — previously of THE ACACIA STRAIN — as lead vocalist, ushering in a new chapter with their third full-length offering, "Dear Monster".

TESSERACT Launch Visualizer For New Single "The Grey"

Following their recently announcement of a world tour, new single, and epic, 11-minute cinematic video for title track "War Of Being", TesseracT continue their journey into The Strangeland in the form of new single. "The Grey". Watch the visualizer for the track below.

"The Grey" builds on signature grooves that undulate in TesseracT's sound, flanked by polyrhythmic rhythms tied together by the band's iconic melodies. It's yet another example of the multi-faceted appeal of their sound and proves that they can craft immediate and affecting tracks just as masterfully as their epic 11-minute opuses.

Regarding the track, Amos Williams says, "'The Grey' explores the story and character within The Strangeland of the same name — a character who has suppressed their own voice to the point that they have blended into the shadows, their story lost amongst the white noise of the world. Through the song, we experience their journey as they wrestle with their frustration and sorrow at how they have ended up this way. It's a powerful, energetic piece that pushes each member of TesseracT to a next level of musicianship and expression. And continues to shine a light upon the diversity that can be expected from War Of Being."

Alongside the release of the single is a fully functional, immersive video game titled "War Of Being", Launched on August 11, the user can enter the world of the album bridging the gap between listening and experience to create a living, breathing concept that brings you closer to the world of TesseracT than ever before.

In celebration of the early access game, the band have made a visualizer for the single which incorporates areas seen in the game alongside the track itself. The visualizer was made by Amos Williams.

In the game's 'Early Access’, fans can expect to explore several surreal landscapes, meet characters from the concept of "War Of Being" and solve puzzles in order to unlock parts of TesseracT's second single "The Grey." The end of the game will unlock the full song where the play can listen from within the same breathtaking landscapes used in the "War Of Being" music video.

Download + play here.

After finishing the album recording in August 2022, singer and frontman Daniel Tompkins immediately began his focus on developing "War Of Being" VR and desktop computer game based entirely on the album's original concept, created by Williams and himself. Tompkins is the lead designer and developer of the game alongside Adam Boyt (Programmer/Developer) and Kirsty Harvey (3D Designer).

Regarding the game, Tompkins says, "As a keen gamer and livestreamer, I have always understood the potential waiting for a musical project to bridge the gap between the gaming and music worlds and with such a visually stunning concept, I could see that this was the perfect opportunity to bring it to life in virtual reality and as a desktop game. This has been without a doubt the biggest project I have personally ever undertaken and is a huge achievement for our developers. It has pushed us to our absolute limits and I'm so proud to have accomplished the beginnings of a fully developed game on Steam."

The game will be available exclusively on Steam and playable in VR on Viva/Rift S and Oculus accompanied by a SteamDeck playable version.

War Of Being was recorded at Middle Farm Studios in the United Kingdom with Peter Miles (Architects/Sylosis/Dodie) co-producing with the band alongside Katherine Marsh of Choir Noir (Bring Me The Horizon/Architects/Marillion). Assisting with additional programming and production, the band were joined by Randy Slaugh (Periphery, Architects, Devin Townsend). With additional engineering by Forrester Savell (Karnivool). The artwork, which features characters 'ex' and 'el' was created in collaboration between AI and human as a means to extend the concept into its presentation.

The album will be available in the following formats:

3RD SECRET, Featuring Members of SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA And PEARL JAM: 'Queens' Video Released

3RD SECRET, the new band featuring SOUNDGARDEN guitarist Kim Thayil, NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic and SOUNDGARDEN and PEARL JAM drummer Matt Cameron, has shared a new performance video for the song "Queens". The track is taken from 3RD SECRET's second full-length album, "The 2nd 3rd Secret", which came out on June 23.

The group, whose lineup is rounded out by Bubba Dupree, guitarist for D.C. hardcore outfit VOID and alt-metal supergroup HATER (also featuring Cameron),and vocalists Jennifer Johnson and Jillian Raye (Novoselic's bandmate in GIANTS IN THE TREES),surprised-released its self-titled debut album in April 2022, recorded and mixed by longtime Seattle producer Jack Endino, and played its first live show that same month at the Museum Of Pop Culture in Seattle.

The "Queens" performance video was filmed on August 6, 2023 at Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle, Washington.

"The 2nd 3rd Secret" track listing:

01. Reckless Room
02. Her Disease
03. State Of Mind
04. Climb Aboard
05. So Close
06. Queens
07. Ditch
08. Awaken Ye Sleeper
09. Gift From Above
10. Let It Burn

Novoselic initially hinted at 3RD SECRET's existence in February 2022, writing in a since-deleted tweet: "I am really busy trying to finish a record. In the middle of some hangups — looking for a mid-March release. But it's a secret, so don't tell anybody!"

"3rd Secret" marked Cameron and Thayil's first full-album collaboration following the 2017 death of SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell.

Thayil recently expressed his hope that he would re-team with his former bandmates on a new project. "I think the three of us have an interest in doing new things," he said of Cameron and SOUNDGARDEN bassist Ben Shepherd. "We certainly like working together."

XANDRIA Release Summer 80's Remix Of “My Curse Is My Redemption"; Visualizer Streaming

German symphonic metal band, Xandria, have released a new single - a summery 80’s style remix of hit single, “My Curse Is My Redemption”, featuring producer Canttias. The original track is taken from Xandria's latest and most successful album to date, The Wonders Still Awaiting, which peaked at #9 on the official German album charts.

The band came together to experiment with heavy 80’s influences to find that it compliments the poppy nuances of talented new vocalist Ambre Vourvahis’ multifaceted voice and creates one of the catchiest melodies. These nostalgic and playful vibes represent another musical color of Xandria’s rich palette, fascinating their fans with the highly addictive version released today alongside the retro visualizer.

Xandria returned with an impressive new lineup, enchanting their fans with new songs during this year’s spring European tour with labelmates Delain. Now Xandria looks forward to their North American tour with Kamelot, kicking off tomorrow, and next year's debut appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival.

Xandria on “My Curse Is My Redemption (Summer 80's Remix)”: "It’s summer, we just rewatched Stranger Things and some 80s movies, so all of this getting us in the mood for… hmmm… maybe doing an 80s retro version of one of our songs? Just for fun and for you fans to enjoy the summer mood with us! What about ‘My Curse Is My Redemption’? It already has that 80s pop vibe. Well, you’ll see how much more 80s pop it can REALLY get ;-) Enjoy this amazing and wonderfully nostalgic remix made by Canttias, an artist whose specialty is these magical 80s synth sounds, and the equally nostalgic video clip for it created by Ingo Spörl (Hard Media)!”

Members Of EVANESCENCE, ALICE COOPER And GRANNY 4 BARREL Join Forces In KILLINGTON PIT

Members of EVANESCENCE, ALICE COOPER and GRANNY 4 BARREL have joined forces in a new band called KILLINGTON PIT.

Born from the pandemic, this unique and unexpected collaboration features the theatrical GRANNY 4 BARREL singer Terry LeRoi, ALICE COOPER bassist Chuck Garric, and a pair of EVANESCENCE members — guitarist Troy McLawhorn and drummer Will Hunt. To mark the new band's formation, a cover of the 1983 ACCEPT classic "Balls To The Wall" has been released as KILLINGTON PIT's debut single.

"From the moment we decided to record this track, it was pure magic," recalls LeRoi. "Chuck, Will and Troy went back and forth with digital files until we had the music dialed in.

"I've always been inspired by Udo's [Dirkschneider] voice and singing style so I did my best to channel that while adding my own flair stylistically," Terry continues, "Our manager Matt Holmes produced the vocals with me in New York and when we put it all together, we realized we had something pretty special going on. It was and is an honor to record music with these incredible musicians! We're so stoked with the way that this legendary track came out!"

"I grew up listening and learning from bands like ACCEPT when I was younger and just starting to play the guitar," adds McLawhorn. "'Balls To The Wall' seemed like the right choice because of its popularity and badassness! I really wanted to do the guitars justice so I stick closely to the original parts with a little bit of my flavor on them as well."

"It was so badass and fun to do this cover of 'Balls To The Wall' with the guys," says Hunt. "I'm proud to call all of them friends. Each of them are musicians and performers that I love and respect.

"I saw ACCEPT open for Ozzy [Osbourne] on his 'Bark At The Moon' tour in 1984. It was their first tour of the U.S. and 'Balls' was just starting to make noise over here. They absolutely blew me away that night! So cool to record this cover!"

Also, according to LeRoi, a special guest contributed backing vocals. "When it came time to record the choruses, it was myself, Matt Holmes and Matt Pinfield in the studio," he says. "Pinfield happened to be in town and he said he was down to take a stab at the gang vocals with us. Fortunately, we all have good pitch. [Laughs] It all happened pretty organically and turned out amazing. I wouldn't change a thing about it!”

"Balls To The Wall" is part of a larger body of classic metal/rock recordings KILLINGTON PIT will be releasing in the coming months. Over the last year, the band stockpiled epic cover versions of tracks and videos from RAINBOW, JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH and more. The chemistry between the foursome can be heard all throughout this impressive body of work.

"It's an honor to be in the same room with these guys," explains Garric. "Musicians that I respect and musicians with the spirit of rock 'n' roll running through their veins."

LeRoi adds: "KILLINGTON PIT is modern rock/metal with roots in classic rock but we're really not trying to limit where this can go. There are so many collective influences between the four of us, I think sonically it's going to evolve naturally. But rest assured the foundation of the sound will always be heavy. In addition to the cover album project, we are at the beginning stages of original music as well. We're really looking forward to sharing the growing sound and image of KILLINGTON PIT!"

PRIMORDIAL To Release How It Ends Album In September; First Single And Video Out Now

Long-running, Dublin, Ireland-based Pagan metallers, Primordial, will release their tenth full-length, How It Ends, on September 29 via Metal Blade Records.

Primordial has nothing to prove. Having lasted thirty-two years and now returning with their devastating new studio offering, the Irish band has made it clear they are a primal force who consistently lay it all on the line. The follow-up to 2018's critically lauded Exile Amongst The Ruins, How It Ends sees them delivering more of their seminal blend of Celtic and black metal, with an extra added urgency, and staring down the apocalypse.

"The title is a question - is this how it ends? How it all goes down: culture, language, history, society - humanity - who knows?," says vocalist A. A. Nemtheanga. "Regardless of who you are or were, you get one chance at all of this, and it's asking is this the end of your town, state, nation? Myths, traditions, relationships, and I suppose it asks the question, who reacts, who rebels - how does it end now for them?"

Working alongside founding members Pól MacAmlaigh (bass) and Ciáran MacUilliam (guitar) and longtime drummer Simon O'Laoghaire, the band started writing in earnest in the fall of 2022, having lit a fire under themselves to work hastily and productively. Primordial never plans out a record beforehand, letting them come together naturally, though Nemtheanga knew he wanted something with a bigger, more open sound, and something more aggressive, which is exactly what they achieved. "How It Ends is a very angry, defiant, visceral, and rebellious album, and as we worked it all began to take more shape and form itself. It may be the note we go out on but it will be a note of resistance, in musical terms. I think it's also more metal! And more epic!"

It only takes one listen for these claims to be proven true, whether it's the surging, gruff, dark "Ploughs To Rust, Swords To Dust," the moody, desperate "Pilgrimage To The World's End," or the sprawling "All Against All," which is drenched in a sinister air and driven by pounding rhythms, wielding a towering climax. "It certainly sounds like Primordial, there is no doubt about that, we have our own style and this is a new chapter of the same book. If we have done anything new it's really to work with more conviction than ever, and trust more than ever our instincts."

Drawing lyrical influence both from modern and historical ideas, Nemtheanga always gives the listener something to think about. How It Ends is no exception. "If for example To The Nameless Dead (2007) was about the movement of borders, building of nations and those sent to war who gave their lives forming them, then this is the album more about resisting those empires, the freedom fighters, the outlaws, the people who made suicidal stands for freedom of speech, or independence - or for the most important word in the English language: liberty. It's not hard to see why the album is inspired by this considering where we are right now in the world."

In advance of the record's release, today the band unleashes first single and album closer, "Victory Has 1000 Fathers, Defeat Is An Orphan," and its accompanying video. Watch the clip below.

How It Ends was tracked at Hellfire Studios on the outskirts of Dublin, produced by the band and engineered by previous collaborator Chris Fielding.
