As New York City progressive rock/metal quartet, Ice Age, prepares to release their epic third album, Waves Of Loss And Power, through Sensory Records next week, the band offers another preview of the record, today issuing a visualizer for the song, “Together Now.”
Ice Age’s first in twenty-two years, Waves Of Loss And Power boasts a unit firing on all cylinders that cannot be ignored. The album showcases vocalist/keyboardist Josh Pincus, guitarist Jimmy Pappas, drummer Hal Aponte, and bassist Doug Odell wearing their varied influences confidently on their collective sleeve. The band conjures the spirits of Kansas and Genesis (“Riverflow”), fleeting shades of Queensrÿche, Rush, and Fates Warning (“The Needle’s Eye,” “Together Now”), and flexes their “hit song” muscle with the infectious hooks of “All My Years” and “Float Away.” In true prog tradition, Ice Age continues the epic sagas begun on the first two albums with abiding narrative nods to the musical motifs and thematic tapestries of “Perpetual Child” (from The Great Divide) and “To Say Goodbye” (last visited on Liberation). In all respects, Waves Of Loss And Power is a seminal masterwork of catchy, thoughtful, and bonafide progressive songwriting.
Engineering for Waves Of Loss And Power was principally handled by Jimmy Pappas with mixing and mastering exquisitely dialed-in by auditory guru Rich Mouser (Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic, Dream Theater). The cover art concept and booklet design were brought to life by Bjorn GooBes of Killustrations, with a fresh new band logo by Thomas Ewerhard.
“Together Now" encapsulates the maturity and next-level dynamics of Ice Age. This song went through a painstaking gestation period to arrive at what you hear on the new album. It’s a progressive epic full of heaviness, drama, soaring vocals, melodic soloing, and a precision drumming masterclass, all riding a cresting wave of lyrical optimistic power.
Waves Of Loss And Power will be released on CD as well as all major streaming and digital music platforms through Laser’s Edge division Sensory Records on March 10. Find pre-orders for the CD at the label webshop here and the digital at Bandcamp – the standard version here and the 24-bit hi-res version here.

German thrashers, Space Chaser, have released a brand new video (produced by Lucas Fiederling / Peregrine Films) for "Juggernaut", a song taken off the band's latest full-length, Give Us Life, which was released in the summer of 2021. Check out the clip below.
Comments the band: "Freeze your ass off in a Berlin club for two days and assemble a disrupted desert landscape from another planet? We thought that was a fantastic Space Chaser idea! Together with our buddies from Peregrine Films we brought the 'Juggernaut' - the merciless, warmongering monster - to life and sent him on a destructive journey. In well known "sci-fi meets thrash metal" style, we deliver the matching short film for our song 'Juggernaut' and headbang our brains out along the way. Watch out that you don't get buried under the tank chains! BOOM!"
Space Chaser will hit European streets again next week for a 9-day-trek. Dates below.
Space Chaser lineup:
Siegfried Rudzynski: vocals
Leo Schacht: guitars
Martin Hochsattel: guitars
Sebastian Kerlikowski: bass
Matthias Scheuerer: drums
Svalbard have released a new single, "Eternal Spirits", accompanied by an electrifying, live-performance music video. "Eternal Spirits" is an uncompromising, poignant track, dedicated to the memory of the legendary musicians of our community who we have sadly lost. It showcases Svalbard's finesse and fiery spirit, where musical ferocity and ethereality interflow, forging an evocative, raging sea. Svalbard are currently working on their fourth studio album.
Svalbard's Serena Cherry stated, "Eternal Spirits is one of the most tragic songs we have ever written, yet it is also a celebration of the legacy and musical heritage. It is a song about late metal musicians who sadly passed away too soon and the loss we feel within the metal community without their presence. This song is a heartfelt tribute to our metal heroes who are gone but will never be forgotten because their legacy lives on in the millions of hearts they have touched with their music. It's crushing when your heroes die, but with this song, we want to commemorate our late heroes' glorious music and the legions of bands they have inspired. That inspiration will never die.
On a more personal level, Joey Jordison was the person who inspired me to pick up an instrument. I started learning drums when I was 12 years old because of the energy and passion he exuded from his playing. When I listened to his drumming, every hit gave me a surge of motivation. His creative spark lit a fire within me that will never be extinguished. I'd like to dedicate 'Eternal Spirits' to his memory."
Stream "Eternal Spirits" here, and watch the video below:
Svalbard will be touring Europe in March 2023 with Cult Of Luna and Russian Circles, followed by a full spring/summer of European festival performances including; Inferno (Norway), Hellfest (France), Gränichen Open Air (Switzerland), Alkatraz (Belgium), With Full Force (Germany), plus 2000Trees, ArcTanGent and Portals in the UK.
Formed in Bristol UK, Svalbard have released three studio albums, three EPs and several split releases. Their exceptional latest studio album, 2020's When I Die, Will I Get Better? was a career milestone, it cemented Svalbard as a powerful and vital component of our global music scene.
Whilst refining their distinctive blend of euphoric black metal, post-rock and d-beat, Svalbard have incorporated a few more surprising influences along the way. From soft, mournful singing to progressive guitar leads, it showcases a sensitive dynamic that lends impact to their most crushing moments - of which there are undoubtedly many. There’s no poetry, no ambiguity - just direct, raw honesty as the Bristolian quartet tackle some very uncomfortable subjects head on. This is heavy in the most evocative sense of the word. The blunt lyrics are equally as important as the music.
The band now look forward with renewed optimism and frankly have every right to. 2023 will see them head out across Europe with Cult of Luna and Russian Circles, having now signed a worldwide deal with the iconic heavy music label Nuclear Blast. In a world ever more open to breaking down doors that once seemed firmly closed, Svalbard seem as vital as any artist right now.
Svalbard is:
Vocals/Guitar - Serena Cherry
Vocals/Guitar - Liam Phelan
Drums - Mark Lilley
Bass - Matt Francis

"Beheading Of The Godhead" video:
Conquering the European charts for decades, the Legion crowned itself at #17 in the Official German Album Charts with predecessor Slaves Of The Shadow Realms (2019). For almost 35 years, they have formed their aggressive signature sound from the most horrific ingredients of thrash and death metal, combined with brutal blackened influences, resulting in one of the most defined and unique sounds in the scene.
The Poison Chalice comes to life by spreading its eerily beautiful wings within the first few seconds, then dives headfirst into a hellishly furious storm before the second song "Contamination" absolutely kills. In classic Legion Of The Damned manner, there is no escape as the track relentlessly drives into the abyss.
The album spreads brutal and ice cold thrash soundscapes through relentless attacking drums and incredible guitar harmonies from both lead guitarists, underlined by angry bass lines. Infectious thrash treasures such as “Progressive Destructor”, and the almost seven-minute berserk “Behold The Beyond” break necks with hammering guitar riffs and bloody double bass infernos. “Beheading of The Godhead” delivers what the song title promises, before the past 48 minutes of hate closes with a final deep gulp from “The Poison Chalice” - leaving no one behind.
Together with producer Erwin Hermsen, the band has closed the gates of the underworld in Toneshed Studio and demonstrates that they remain the unchallenged masters of brute and unrelenting death-thrash metal in 2023.
Legion Of The Damned are:
Maurice Swinkels - vocals
Twan Van Geel - guitars
Fabian Verweij - guitars
Harold Gielen - bass
Erik Fleuren - drums
Swedish modern sci-fi metal outfit Curse Of Cain recently joined the Atomic Fire Records roster. Check out the officiakl video for their new single, "Embrace Your Darkness", below.
Forged in 2000 by ex-Follow The Cipher and ex-Ad Infinitum forward-thinking bassist Jonas Asplind, Curse Of Cain focuses on both musical and visual elements to create a futuristic dystopian world while simultaneously unfolding fascinating stories about strong characters such as Cain himself.
Comments the band, "We are beyond excited and really looking forward to this collaboration. Atomic Fire Records is the perfect partner for us, and we are happy to take this huge next step together with them.”
Adds Atomic Fire Records CEO Markus Wosgien, "We were all completely impressed by what Curse Of Cain presented to us with their debut album: a coherent, exciting concept and a multi-faceted album with numerous catchy tunes. In short, everything is right here and fantastic musicians come together who have created something unique. I've had a close friendship with Jonas Asplind since his time in Follow The Cipher, so I'm all the more pleased to be able to further promote his musical career and to be able to walk with him. Curse Of Cain is one of the most exciting newcomers of the hour. Look forward to something very special!"
Check out the studio version of “Alive”.
"'Alive' is the natural song for us to start of with,” the band notes. “It’s catchy but dark at the same time; it really captures the movie metal feeling that is our signature.”
The video for “Alive” was produced and directed by George Grigoriadis and Jonas Asplind and filmed and edited by Grigoriadis. The story is by Grigoriadis and Victor Ganebrant.
The band’s debut album, Curse Of Cain, will see release in May 2023. Further details on the concept and the ordeal of Cain and his band of misfits will be revealed soon!

In December 2022, Apocalyptica released their single, "Rise Again", featuring Epica vocalist, Simone Simons. The clip below features Simons performing the song with Apocalyptica in Manchester, UK on The Epic Apocalypse Tour on February 3rd. It is only the second time they have performed the song together live.
Apocalyptica issued the following statement when the single was released last year:
"Surprise! We just dropped 'Rise Again' our 'new' song with Epica's incredible frontwoman, Simone Simons! Why is 'new' in quotes you ask? Because this song features Simone singing over "Rise", a track from Cell-0!
Eicca says: "It was so great to make 'Rise Again' with Simone Simons! When we were putting the Epic Apocalypse-tour together we were thinking of making this collaboration with Epica even deeper by releasing a song together. 'Rise' from Cell-0 album had the beauty and feel which we felt could fit perfectly for Simone’s unique voice. We are so happy for the song and really excited about this tour with Epica as it will be something really special and amazing!!!"

Are you ready to start a Revolution? Since launching in January of 2022, Tailgunner have taken the world of underground heavy metal by the scruff of the neck, and grasp with an iron first.
Today, Tailgunner release their hymn "Revolution Scream" and return to all streaming platforms. Listen here, and watch a video below.
“Yesterdays embers are ash now, the future always out of sight. We only know that it’s ours now, so take it - This is your right", says the band. Tailgunner send a message direct to those who try to claim that heavy metal is dead. A slice of melodic power metal, with a ‘more is more’ video rarely seen this side of 1990, "Revolution Scream" is a metal anthem about staking your claim to the future, and grabbing with both hands.
You can get the song also on the strictly limited (500 copies) MCD "Crashdive" at the Atomic Fire Webshop here. Or send your request to shop@fireflash-records.com.
The band are also confirmed to play their first German show at Keep It True - Rising festival in Würzburg, Germany (October 6 - 7) In October, Tailgunner return to the UK, for the Guns For Hire headline tour.
Following last year's release of their Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous album, selling out shows throughout Europe on their headline tour, and supporting Electric Callboy and other acts on the road, Finland’s Blind Channel are kicking off 2023 with their new standalone single, "Flatline", via Century Media Records.
Stream and purchase the album here, and watch the video for "Flatline" below.
“This is the beginning of the next chapter of our career,” say the band. “"Flatline" is Blind Channel on steroids. We captured the energy of last year’s 130 shows into one song and threw it to a Berlin rave. The song was written with songwriting duo Blyne and it’s one of the heaviest tracks we’ve ever made. This is pretty unique from scratch. If you’re sick and tired of ups and downs, this song might help you.”
The single is released ahead of a massive touring schedule for Blind Channel across the first half of 2023, taking in headline dates throughout Europe and three huge support tours with I Prevail, Electric Callboy and Lacuna Coil. Find the band's tour itinerary here.
“It took me eight years to become an overnight success.” This line, buried away in the fourth Blind Channel album, Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous, is where their uncompromising journey finds its continuation. When forming in Finland in 2013, vocalists Niko Moilanen and Joel Hokka, drummer Tommi Lalli, guitarist Joonas Porko and bass player Olli Matela, plus the later addition of DJ and percussionist Alex Mattson, knew that it was all about going big or going home.
The stepping stone of Eurovision, where they were Finland’s representatives, allowed them to amass more followers but, in truth, they had already been building a large and fervent fanbase thanks to their three previous albums – Revolutions (2016), Blood Brothers (2018) and Violent Pop (2020).
Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous takes the next step, offering a brutal, sincere and swaggering depiction of their lives, backed by their trademark and unforgiving “violent pop music”. Whilst being a homage to the Good Charlotte track "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous", it’s most importantly a statement of intent that this is merely the beginning.

WHITESNAKE returned in 2008 with "Good To Be Bad", the band's 10th studio album and its first in over a decade. Fans embraced the comeback, pushing the album into the Top 10 in the U.K. and flocking to shows on the band's massive world tour. Today, album tracks like "Best Years" and "Summer Rain" have taken their place in the band's live repertoire alongside global hits like "Here I Go Again" and "Still Of The Night".
WHITESNAKE explores the group's 2008 return with the upcoming legacy retrospective, "Still Good To Be Bad". The collection will be available in different configurations on April 28, a few days after the original album's 15th anniversary. The first collection is a 4-CD/Blu-ray with two new versions of the original album (one remastered and the other newly remixed),a selection of rare and unreleased studio and live recordings from the period, and videos all the music videos, interviews, and electrifying live performances from the "Good To Be Bad" world tour.
Three other versions of "Still Good To Be Bad" will also be available on April 28. The album's 2023 remix will be released on vinyl as a double-LP and a single CD. "Still Good To Be Bad" also comes as a 2-CD set that includes the remixed and remastered versions of the album. The new alternate mixes also feature new background vocals from the "Hook City Harlots", Cami Thompson, Misty Rae and Jackie Landrum, plus the "Hook City Horns" with Rick Metz on saxes and the trumpet of Joshua Reed.
The newly remixed version of "Can You Hear The Wind Blow" is out today as a digital single and new music video.
WHITESNAKE founder and lead singer David Coverdale played an integral role in making the new collection, serving as its executive producer. In the set's liner notes, Coverdale traces the creative spark for "Good To Be Bad" back to 2003 when he reconvened WHITESNAKE for a tour celebrating the band's 25th anniversary.
"We went out for two months and came back nine months later, and I had a big smile on my face and felt really energized," David said. "I thought, 'Wow! I've got thirty years of music here that I can go out and play, and I don't have to promote a new record…I can just have fun out there.'"
The anniversary ended, but the tour buses kept rolling as WHITESNAKE remained in demand on the road. As a result, in 2006, the band released "Live…In The Shadow Of The Blues", a concert album that also introduced four new studio recordings. Those songs raised fans' hopes for a new WHITESNAKE studio album, the first since 1997's "Restless Heart".
Coverdale enjoyed a newly forged creative friendship with electrifying guitarist Doug Aldrich. After initially saying he wasn't interested in new projects, after three years of touring, he felt the need for new music — not only for the fans, but also to reinvigorate himself. He found the perfect writing partner with Aldrich. Not only as a co-writer but, as a co-producer, too.
Coverdale said: "Doug and I got on so well, I suggested we sit down with our acoustic guitars & see what unfolded…I was thrilled how effortless it was to create new WHITESNAKE music with him…"
So, it was that in 2007, Coverdale, guitarists Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, keyboardist Timothy Drury, bassist Uriah Duffy and drummer Chris Frazier began recording tracks for WHITESNAKE's tenth studio album, "Good To Be Bad". Celebrated by both fans and critics, the record was named "Album Of The Year" at the 2008 Classic Rock Awards.
"Still Good To Be Bad" explores the creative process behind the record with 28 different mixes and alternate versions of album tracks, all but one of them previously unreleased. High points include "If You Want Me", backed by the Hook City Harlots and Horns and a version of "All For Love" that features a different guitar solo by Aldrich. The collection also includes "Evolutions", a disc of unreleased recordings that presents a guide through the genesis of each song, from initial ideas with rough vocal melodies, lyrics and riffs through to finished demos and full band production versions.
The Blu-ray delivers a variety of WHITESNAKE video footage, including live tracks from the band's 2008 European tour, acoustic performances from the era, and an interview by Eddie Trunk. New songs like "Best Years", "A Fool In Love" and "Can You Hear The Wind Blow" come to life in these incredible live performances. The Blu-ray also features promo videos for "Ready To Rock" and "Lay Down Your Love".
March 17, 2023 will see Redemption release their much-awaited, new album I Am The Storm on AFM Records. Following previously-shared singles, the blistering album title track as well as "Seven Minutes From Sunset", today, the Los Angeles-based outfit presents a brand new music video for the song "Remember The Dawn"!
Redemption belongs to one of the leading progressive metal bands in the heavy music world today. Formed in 2000 by guitarist / keyboardist / songwriter Nicolas van Dyk, the band features iconic vocalist Thomas England of Evergrey, the rhythm section of Chris Quirarte (drums) and bassist Sean Andrews, as well as Vikram Shankar on keys.
As the album title already promises, I Am The Storm is a gripping, stirring, overwhelming and dramatic, new record by the power prog metal act. Combining unapologetic melodies and hooks with technicality, complexity and thundering riffs, Redemption once again occupies a unique place with its powerful, heavy, intelligent and deeply emotional music.
Says band mastermind Nicolas van Dyk about the new single: "With out first two advance releases, we have emphasized the heavier side of Redemption and the economic melodic metal side of Redemption. We have a third side — longer form songs with roots in progressive rock as well as metal, delivered in a cinematic style. Remember the Dawn showcases this third side of Redemption, both musically and — thanks to Vikram’s video assembly — with the visuals of us performing the piece individually in-studio. The meaning of the song touches on a familiar theme with Redemption: live is full of challenges and rewards, of ugliness and beauty, of despair and hope."
I Am The Storm was produced by van Dyk, Vikram Shankar and sound engineer/guitarist Simone Mularoni (DGM), who – alongside Chris Poland (ex-Megadeth) and Henrik Danhage (Evergrey) – will be also featured as a guest musician on the album. The new Redemption record also contains two cover songs, 'Turn It On Again' by Genesis and 'Red Rain' by Peter Gabriel.
