THE CEO Feat. SEVENDUST Bassist VINCE HORNSBY Release “Black Hearts” Music Video

Georgia hard rockers The CEO are releasing another music video for a song from their debut album Redemption. “Black Hearts” showcases the band’s softer side and is the longest track on the album. The song has been a fan favorite since the album was released and the band decided to film a video for the track after the positive response from the public. The video – filmed in black & white and transitions to color – shows the band performing as the story of the “black hearts” unfolds behind them.

“Since the album was released, we’ve received more requests to do a video for this song than any others, so we knew it had to be something special. Watch till the very end. Hopefully the audience enjoys it as much as we enjoyed making it,” explains vocalist and founder Mack Mullins.

Watch an unboxing video for the deluxe box set:

When it comes to modern heavy metal, there are few bands operating at the same level as Portrait. For a decade and a half, the Swedish unit have been forging their own path, and in the process, infusing life into a longstanding, well-established genre and taking it in new directions. Following up 2017's acclaimed Burn The World, they return with the mighty At One With None, which was recorded at JFK Studios in Kristianstad, Sweden with Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Hatesphere) handling the mixing. While Portrait fans will immediately recognize it as the work of their heroes, they are not simply rehashing old ideas and treading where they have before.

"One simple 'rule' that I have had personally is that no song written for this album and onwards should be similar to any song that we have already written and released. We have been doing this for 15 years now, and I am proud to say that I think we have managed to find our own identity and sound, which can't really be said about that many bands today. This is our greatest achievement, and the goal is to keep exploring and developing our own sound, without repeating ourselves." The results of working with this philosophy are undeniable, making for an essential addition to the Portrait canon.

VANILLA FUDGE Releases Cover Version Of THE SUPREMES Classic 'Stop In The Name Of Love'

VANILLA FUDGE has released a "fudged up" version of THE SUPREMES classic "Stop In the Name Of Love" and a tribute to their bandmate, "To The Legacy Of Tim Bogert".

The legendary VANILLA FUDGE, the original lineup of Mark Stein, Carmine Appice, Vincent Martel and Tim Bogert, together one final time, take listeners on a psychedelically tinged version of THE SUPREMES classic "Stop In The Name Of Love". This masterpiece is an instant classic, putting on display the virtuosity and raw talent of one of the pioneers of psyche rock.

Back in 2019, Stein put together an idea for VANILLA FUDGE to do an arrangement for "Stop In The Name Of Love". The dream was to capture the lightning in a bottle that happened with their classic arrangement of THE SUPREMES' "You Keep Me Hangin' On". That track has remained current decades after its release thanks to film and television placements such as "The Sopranos" finale, and big Hollywood blockbusters like "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood". While the FUDGE was out on tour later that year, they went into the studio and laid down tracks that would be the foundation of this new release.

Says Stein: "So back in mid-2019, I put together a blueprint for an arrangement for 'Stop In The Name Of Love' while the FUDGE was out there doing shows later that year. We went into the studio and recorded the track. We planned to complete it, there were delays, and then the pandemic put everything on hold."

They planned to complete it with Tim Bogert on the track. However, they ran into some unavoidable delays with the pandemic putting everything on hold. Tim had been living with cancer for some time, and they didn't know how much time he had. Carmine Appice took the matter into his own hands and when he went to Los Angeles's NAMM show in January of 2020, he arranged for Tim to record at Jorgen Carlsson's (the bass player for GOV'T MULE) studio in L.A.

Says Martel: "It was very cool that we were able to get Timmy on the track. I'm glad he was strong enough and gracious enough to record with us one last time. He gave me a great template to build on with my guitar. I created an East Indian raga intro in the spirit of our early albums and rocked out at the end. Hold on tight everybody, 'cause here comes the FUDGE..."

Upon Tim's passing, the band recorded tributes to their brother and bandmate with producer Leslie Gold. This heartfelt recording, "To The Legacy Of Tim Bogert", is a must listen for fans of VANILLA FUDGE.

O'KEEFE MUSIC FOUNDATION Students Perform DROWNING POOL Hit "Bodies" (Video)

Music teacher Aaron O'Keefe - who works with his students under the O'Keefe Music Foundation (OMF) moniker - has posted an official video for their cover of
Drowning Pool's "Bodies". It features students between the ages of 15 and 18. Check it out below.

The backstory:

"A Drowning Pool cover has always been high on our list.  So when the stars aligned the kids jumped at the chance to cover 'Bodies'.  Prodigies from Iowa, Michigan, Georgia, Missouri and Ohio came together to bring this cover to life!   Aidan Fisher then wrote a guitar solo for 'Bodies', which was inspired by the late Edward Van Halen who passed away on October 6th, 2020.

A huge, tremendous thanks to all the kids for absolutely crushing this song and making it their own. And, of course, a big thanks to our donors who made this recording and video completely FREE for the kids. To music lovers everywhere, please consider donating to OMF so kids from around the country can PLAY. REAL. MUSIC."

Drums - Will Bright (age 15)
Rhythm Guitar - Ethan Olzak (age 17)
Lead Guitar - Aidan Fisher (age 18)
Vocals - Kaden Karns (age 18)
Bass - Jackson Toma (age 18)

Aaron O'Keefe: "OMF is a non-profit music organization based in Ohio, USA, with a mission to provide high quality music education to any child in the world for FREE! Why? Because art gives voice to our dreams and live music performance is becoming a dying art. Since 2006, OMF has helped over 1000 students make countless music videos… with over 80 million combined YouTube views!

You can read more about us on our website, view other great music vids, and even apply to be an OMF rockstar (as long as you are 18 or under)! You can also buy some cool merch, or support us in recording more great songs and videos in the future."

SWALLOW THE SUN Launch Video For Instrumental Version "The Void" Performed By TRIO NOX

In all the silence, Finnish death doom masters, Swallow The Sun, have written, recorded and mixed a new album called Moonflowers. It is done and ready and will be released on November 19.

Along with some of the album formats, there will also come a full bonus album featuring very special instrumental versions of all the regular album tracks. This instrumental album has been composed for strings and recorded at Sipoo Church in Finland. The strings were performed by the group called Trio NOX from Finland.

All these instrumental songs will be launched as animated videos, which were created by Dronicon Films. One by one every week, leading up to the first single release of the main album.

window._taboola = window._taboola || [];
_taboola.push({
mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',
container: 'taboola-mid-article-thumbnails',
placement: 'Mid Article Thumbnails',
target_type: 'mix'
});

The new instrumental song, "The Void", is accompanied by an animated video created by Dronicon Films. Watch below:

Check out the instrumentals for "All Hallows' Grieve", "Woven Into Sorrow", "Moonflowers Bloom In Misery" and "Enemy", below:

Juha Raivio comments: “I know well that I should not say this, but I deeply hate this album. I hate where it takes me, how it makes me feel and what it stands for me personally. I wish it wouldn’t. But for all its honesty I got no option than also love it. That is all that matters to me with the music anyway and it doesn’t matter how it makes me feel, as long as it does. For me this album is like a mirror of a deep self-disappointment. Even I still want to believe that there is and could be more than this in me. But I don’t need or want to talk more about it. After all music means so different things to each one of us by how we have walked our own paths, and that is a beautiful thing about music. There is no right or wrong.

"After I had finished writing all the music for this record in the fall of 2020 I started to write these small instrumental versions of the album songs for the violin, viola, cello and piano. Mostly because I was wondering how it would feel like to hear all these songs first as these intimate versions instead of a full band album. It was really beautiful to see and hear these songs come alive in this way and form, recorded live in this big church in Finland. To be able to hear the echoes of this music reflecting from the church walls and feel the very soul of these old wooden instruments played by real people in this sacred place. Something about hearing the strings breathe this fragile beauty into these songs that carry so much pain otherwise. Now looking back, maybe I wrote these versions just for myself to be able to hear and feel at least some kind of a beauty and solace in these songs, maybe…

"I wanted to create the cover art of this album myself this time, so it would stand as brutally honest for me as the music is. So I painted the moon on the ‘Moonflowers‘ cover with my own blood and I decorated it with the flowers I picked up and dried on the spring of 2016. Maybe it isn’t the most outstanding looking piece of art ever made in this world, but for me it is everything. I wasn’t going to write any new music before I would have moved towards the right direction in my life, but finally all this music just forced itself out of me during the long nights of this hope crushing and neverending lockdown prison. Something grew out from that void eventually and writing these songs made me think a lot about moonflowers that bloom at the darkest hour of the night, so that name felt right to call the album also.

"All my love to you, take care."

Moonflowers tracklisting:

"Moonflowers Bloom In Misery"
"Enemy"
"Woven Into Sorrow"
"Keep Your Heart Safe From Me"
"All Hallows' Grieve" (Featuring Cammie Gilbert)
"The Void"
"The Fight Of Your Life"
"This House Has No Home"

Raivio further states, “In other news, unfortunately our busy brother Jaani will step aside from the band at least for this new album cycle, but we are happy to tell that you can hear Jaani’s backing vocals on the new album anyway.”

Jaani Peuhu adds, "Sadly, Corona virus messed up everything including the release schedules of my bands. Both the Mercury Circle and Swallow The Sun albums are being released at the same time, making it impossible for me to tour with both bands. For this reason, I decided that it’d be better for me to solely focus on MC for this release cycle.

"That being said, the upcoming Swallow The Sun album will be amazing, and I am so happy we could still do it together. I wish the best of luck to StS on their tour with it! See you in the audience!"

Juha Raivio - guitars
Matti Honkonen - bass

TEMPERANCE To Release Diamanti Album In November; "Pure Life Unfolds" Music Video Streaming

Italian modern symphonic power metal maestros,, Temperance present the first single cut from their new studio album, Diamanti. Energizing and uplifting “Pure Life Unfolds” embodies the multifaceted sound of the five-piece with its grand melodies and thriving refrain - all topped by the fabulous performance of all three vocalists. With millions of streams across all platforms, Temperance are shaping up to be amongst the elite of symphonic metal.

Michele Guaitoli (vocals, piano) on the new single: “This song is proof that when we work as a team, we are limitless. I wrote this track 2 years ago, and it was a long suite with over 7 minutes of music. When Marco heard it, he saw a completely different potential in it and we started editing and working together. Basically, the intro and the chorus are the only elements that didn’t change if not for some little adjustments, the verses and the overall structure has been re-arranged during our songwriting sessions and the final result is just magic. This track leaves you breathless and makes your heart beating fast from the beginning to the end."

After releasing their vibrant fifth studio album, Viridian, in 2020, Temperance delight their devotees with the persuasive new offering Diamanti, to be released on November 19 via Napalm Records. With Diamanti, the exceptionally skilled Italian outfit once again showcases their extraordinary ability to merge brilliant vocal melodies, hefty power metal guitar riffing, and symphonic soundscapes in perfect harmony - all dressed in modern surroundings. This is an offering that fans of bands like Amaranthe will fall in love with immediately.

Diamanti was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Amaranthe), with the cover artwork once again created by Yann Souetre (Ayreon).

Marco Pastorino (vocals, guitar) on the new album: "With Diamanti, we managed to combine our best qualities and selected the best Temperance songs so far.  It's not our heaviest album, it's not our fastest work, but surely it's our favourite one so far! We weren't necessarily supposed to record a new album only one year after Viridian, but luckily we made it! In this album you will find our trademarks: the vocal harmonies, the catchy melodies, but also epic stuff, strong arrangements, and long tracks - I am very proud of Diamanti and I am convinced we have written a bombastic album!"

Diamanti will be available in the following formats:

- 1CD Digipak

A View From The Top Of The World was produced by John Petrucci, engineered and additional production by James “Jimmy T” Meslin and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap and available for pre-order here.

Dream Theater - comprised of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung and Mike Mangini - was in the middle of a sold-out world tour in support of their last release Distance Over Time and the 20th anniversary of Scenes From A Memory when a Global Pandemic brought the world to a stop. The musicians found themselves at home with LaBrie in Canada and the rest of the group in the States. As fate would have it, they’d just finished construction on DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters) - a combination live recording studio, rehearsal space, control room, equipment storage, and creative hive. With LaBrie in Canada, he initially wrote with the band via ZOOM on a monitor in DTHQ. In March 2021, he flew down to New York, quarantined, and recorded his vocals face-to-face with Petrucci. The album ultimately threaded together lean and uncompromising hooks with tried-and-true technical proficiency.

“We just love to play our instruments,” observes Petrucci. “That never goes away. I love to be creative, write, and exercise that part of my mind. We’ve been able to do this for a long time, and we don’t take it for granted. Whenever we get together, we know we can’t disappoint ourselves or our fans, so we manage to try even harder.”

“We approach every album like it’s our first,” adds LaBrie. “It’s been such a great ride, but we’re not going to stop.”

A View From The Top Of The World tracklisting:

"The Alien" (9:32)
"Answering The Call" (7:35)
"Invisible Monster" (6:31)
"Sleeping Giant" (10:05)
"Transcending Time" (6:25)

GUNS N' ROSES' Set At BOTTLEROCK Cut Short By Organizers Due To Curfew

According to San Francisco Chronicle's Datebook, GUNS N' ROSES had its headlining set cut short at BottleRock Napa Valley on Saturday, September 4, by festival promoters after bumping up against the festival's hard 10 p.m. curfew.

The abrupt ending came while GUNS N' ROSES was performing the final song of the two-and-a-hour set, "Paradise City", with special guest Dave Grohl of the FOO FIGHTERS.

A wave of boos from the crowd could be heard as the musicians tried to complete the track, with GUNS N' ROSES and Grohl continuing to play through 10:03 p.m. Following the performance, singer Axl Rose threw his mike off stage, took a bow and walked off with the rest of the band trailing behind.

Located in a residential area, with houses that face the main stage, the curfew at the Napa Valley Expo was set when neighbors complained about the noise after BottleRock's inaugural year in 2013.

Previous artists who had broken BottleRock's curfew include Neil Young (in 2019), FOO FIGHTERS (in 2017) and THE CURE (in 2014).

BottleRock organizer Dave Graham said in a 2017 radio interview after cutting the FOO FIGHTERS' set short: "I was responsible for making sure that we ended at 10 and it pained me to have to do that. I would have happily paid a big fine to keep them playing. It's less about the money and it's more about the trust within the community and the credibility that our festival has within the community."

Prior to a partial reunion of GUNS N' ROSES' classic lineup in 2016, the band had a reputation for extreme tardiness but has since become unexpectedly punctual. Rose and his bandmates took the stage at about 7:30 p.m. at BottleRock.

Dubbed "We're F'N Back!", GUNS N' ROSES' current tour comes on the heels of the "Not In This Lifetime" run that began in April 2016 and became the No. 3 highest-grossing tour in the history of Billboard Boxscore.

As was the case with "Not In This Lifetime", the current GUNS N' ROSES tour features classic-lineup members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Rose backed by guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

The massive touring production will wrap up with two shows in Hollywood, Florida, at the Hard Rock Live Arena on October 2 and October 3.

On August 6, GUNS N' ROSES officially released a new song called "Absurd" across all digital music providers. The studio version of "Absurd" — which is a reworked version of a previously unreleased GN'R track called "Silkworms" — arrived three days after the band performed the tune live for the first time during its concert at Boston's Fenway Park.

Watch STEPHEN PEARCY Perform RATT Classics In Houston

RATT singer Stephen Pearcy and his solo band performed on September 3 at Warehouse Live in Houston, Texas. Fan-filmed video footage of the entire concert can be seen below (courtesy of YouTube user "Carlos Live Metal TV").

This past June, Pearcy spoke to Vintage Rock Pod about his upcoming follow-up to 2018's "View To A Thrill" solo album. He said: "So much time has passed since we started writing, Erik [Ferentinos] and I — my guitar player and co-writer guy [for] most of my solo [stuff]. It was so long ago. And the record was done; we had the songs written, like, six months ago. And that was a year process. Since then, I've been writing like a fool and writing with him, and all these new songs [came out]. So I figure let's do a double record and give it all you've got — just go in there and lay it down and say, 'Here. This is what happens in two years when you write tunes.' 'Cause they're way different. It goes all over the place, this record. Our new bass player, Jerry Montano, he did time in HELLYEAH; he's more of an aggressive writer/player. So these songs could be real heavy, heavy or they could be RATT sounding, obviously, if I write 'em. I'm trying to take 'em outside. I'm trying to do a lot of different things. And it's gonna be interesting, because it's gonna go all over the place, so good luck."

According to Pearcy, fans shouldn't expect to see his new solo LP until sometime in 2022. "It's been put off," he explained. "We're gonna try to get through this year. I've got some things to take care of with what the band RATT's gonna do… And once I get in the studio, I don't mess around. That's one thing I learned from [producer] Beau Hill, is you make shit happen. Don't waste time. And we don't. I crack a whip."

Less than five months ago, the 65-year-old founding RATT vocalist, who has been focusing mostly on his solo career while the band has been off the road, dropped the official music video for a previously unreleased solo song called "Don't Wanna Talk About It". The track was written "circa 2000s" entirely by Pearcy and features Stephen on vocals and guitar, Ferentinos on lead guitar, Mike Duda on bass and Greg D'Angelo on drums.

"Don't Wanna Talk About It" arrived two months after the release of Pearcy's cover version of DURAN DURAN's 1981 hit "Girls On Film". Prior to that, Pearcy issued another new solo single, "Night Flight", a collaboration between Pearcy and Ferentinos, which is expected to appear on Stephen's upcoming LP.

Pearcy's fifth solo LP, "View To A Thrill", came out in November 2018 via Frontiers Music Srl. The follow-up to 2017's "Smash" was produced by Matt Thorne and Pearcy and was mixed and mastered by Thorne and Ferentinos.

Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier are the sole remaining original members in RATT's current lineup, which made its live debut in July 2018 in Mulvane, Kansas. Joining them in the band are drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE, RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER) and guitarists Jordan Ziff (RAZER) and Frankie Lindia.

In January, Pearcy told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was open to the idea of making a new RATT album with all the surviving members of the band's classic lineup.

RATT hasn't released any new music since 2010's "Infestation" LP.

RIVERS OF NIHIL Release Instrumental Playthrough Video For New Track "MORE?"

On September 24, Rivers Of Nihil will release their fourth full-length, The Work, via Metal Blade Records. The band has released an instrumental playthrough of the new track "MORE?", which can be viewed below.

Reading, Pennsylvania's Rivers Of Nihil have never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018's Where Owls Know My Name, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with The Work, they have forged further into new territory, delivering an album that is as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own. Inarguably a very dense, heavy collection, The Work is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record, and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly on "Wait" and the gorgeous "Maybe One Day," and the band have included far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano and alto saxes to great affect.

With guitars and synths/keys tracked at Uttley's home studio, the band then we went back for the third album in a row to Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio to do drums, vocals, bass, sax, and mixing.

"We've done so many sessions with those guys that they're basically an extension of our band at this point. They usually know what we like, and we always encourage them to roast us to make stuff better," says guitarist Brody Uttley.

Alongside the band, James Dorton from Black Crown Initiate provided some vocals on "Episode," Grant McFarland played cello on "The Void From Which No Sound Escapes", and Uttley's friend Stephan Lopez helped out with all of the field recordings, an integral part of the sonic textures of the record.

The Work can be pre-ordered here in the following formats:

THE RASMUS Teams Up With APOCALYPTICA For 'Stranger Things'-Inspired Video For 'Venomous Moon'

Finnish rockers THE RASMUS have collaborated with APOCALYPTICA on a new song called "Venomous Moon". The track is the second single from THE RASMUS's upcoming album, recorded during the pandemic, with the bandmembers being stranded in Hawaii, Helsinki and Sydney and with the producer Joshua in England. It is co-produced by Martin Hansen who has worked with THE RASMUS on four albums, including their breakthrough single "In The Shadows". The members of APOCALYPTICA, who had also worked with Hansen before, contribute their trademark intense cello riffs to the track. THE RASMUS's singer Lauri Ylönen and APOCALYPTICA previously joined forces on the songs "Bittersweet" and "Life Burns".

Says Ylönen: "'Venomous Moon' is about isolation and being separated from the world, but I wrote it before the virus came along. I must have caught a glimpse of the future, which then added a whole new layer of melancholy to the song."

The "Venomous Moon" music video, which can be seen below, was directed by Vertti Virkajärvi and produced by No Office. THE RASMUS and APOCALYPTICA both perform in the video, which is inspired by the "Stranger Things" TV series and features spooky creatures stemming from the same deep forests as the Groke in the Moomin stories.

THE RASMUS was formed in 1995 while the members were still in high school. Their debut, "Peep", rapidly went gold in their homeland Finland, making the members rock stars at the age of 16. The follow-up, "Playboys", also went gold and earned the group an Emma, Finland's version of a Grammy. Their third album, "Hell Of A Tester", included "Liquid", a track that was voted "Best Single Of The Year" by Finland's music critics. 2001's "Into" album went double platinum in their native country, with its debut single, "F-F-F-Falling", hitting the top of the charts. An international audience started to build, and the band toured throughout Europe. Their fifth album, "Dead Letters", released in 2003, became the band's biggest breakthrough yet, due in large part to the success of the single "In The Shadows". 2005's "Hide From The Sun" went platinum in Finland. Their fourth Finnish chart-topper, "Black Roses", was released in 2008, produced by Desmond Child. After the release of compilation "Best Of The Rasmus: 2001-2009" and a 2011 solo LP from Lauri Ylönen titled "New World", THE RASMUS released its self-titled eighth album, "The Rasmus", in 2012. The band returned in 2017 with the album "Dark Matters". THE RASMUS is still one Europe's most in-demand rock acts. They have toured Scandinavia many times as well as Central Europe, Asia, Japan, Canada, USA and South America.

THE RASMUS is:

Lauri Ylönen - vocals

Eero Heinonen - bass

Pauli Rantasalmi - guitars

Aki Hakala - drums

DAMNATION DEFACED Issue New Single And Video For "Scorn"

German death metal band, Damnation Defaced, has released "Scorn", the second single and video from their upcoming album, They Brought Death To The Darkness.

"'Scorn' is a nice and nasty hate bomb and clearly different from the first single 'The Black Ark'. Furthermore, some German lyrics made it into this song again," says singer Philipp Bischoff.

CADAVERIA Release “The Woman Who Fell To Earth” Music Video

In early June Italian black/gothic metal act Cadaveria released the single "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" on all digital platforms.

Now the band have premiered the video for the single. Made by Morbid Vision and shot around an old village in Piedmont, North Italy, among woods and fields, the video was inspired by a shamanic prediction.

The images evoke the existence of parallel dimensions and of a multifaceted female presence, at times mysterious, who visits our sick planet to give new energy.

The video also shows a preview of some handmade jewels, a necklace and a pendant worn by Cadaveria herself, which are now available to order at cadaveria.com.

"The Woman Who Fell to Earth" is available for streaming from a digital outlet here.
