Ted Poley’s new solo album, Beyond The Fade, will be released on May 13th. Best known as lead vocalist for the legendary melodic rock masters Danger Danger, Ted Poley is also an accomplished solo artist, having released two acclaimed releases, Collateral Damage (2006) and Smile (2007). The album track, “Hands Of Love”, is streaming below.

The story of Beyond The Fade starts after Danger Danger's performance at Frontiers Rock Festival in Milano in 2014, when he and the label developed the idea to work together on some new music. The next step was to speak to producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Edge Of Forever) and with a band that he put together, Ted performed at the second edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival. A few months later, Ted came back to Italy to finish the vocals on the album.

Ted says: "I am absolutely thrilled with the way the whole album came out. If I have one quote: "ITS AWESOME!" My great friend and co-producer Alessandro Del Vecchio brought my sonic vision to life and no request from me was too great for him toward his goal of making "The Ultimate Ted Poley Solo Album" and he surely delivered on his promise. We had a lot of fun making the album and its obvious when you hear it. You can practically hear my smile while I am singing. We decided to make it sound BIG and there are a ton of backing vocals (in some cases more than 80 tracks of them!), along with great songs, soaring melodic guitar leads, pounding bass and big drums, all layered with cool keyboards... like a delicious Musical Cake! The official video for the song "G O A T" from THE CULT can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's tenth studio album, "Hidden City", which was released on February 5 via Cooking Vinyl. The follow-up to 2012's "Choice Of Weapon" was written by singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy and was produced by Bob Rock, who has previously worked with METALLICA and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

The final installment in a trilogy of recordings, completing 2007's "Born Into This" ("The Fall") and 2012's "Choice Of Weapon" ("Dark Night of the Soul"), "Hidden City" is a tightly woven series of experience and visions with underlying themes of redemption and rebirth threaded through THE CULT's visceral music. Astbury's signature baritone and blood-soaked lyrics paired with Duffy's smouldering, textured guitar tones, create a musical environment that is fearless and peerless.

From the sonic assault of the opening track "Dark Energy", "Hidden City" launches quickly into the dark underbelly of its subject matter. Stemming from the Spanish phrase "La Ciudad Oculta" or "hidden city," the album reflects an awakening of consciousness through its tone and complexity.

"Hidden City is a metaphor for our spiritual lives, our intimate interior lives," explains Astbury. "I find today's gurus are trying to peddle some cure, product or insight as if it's a new phenomenon. My place is to respond, not react, to observe, participate and share through words and music. To celebrate their 35th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of their legendary album "Darkness Descends", reunited California thrashers DARK ANGEL will play the LP in its entirety on October 8 at The Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The band will also include songs from "Time Does Not Heal" for the 25th anniversary of this classic release.

The Vancouver show will mark the first DARK ANGEL appearance in Canada since 1989 and the band's exclusive West Coast appearance in North America for 2016.

Tickets for the concert go on sale on Friday, April 8.

DARK ANGEL released two albums with Don Doty on vocals — 1984's "We Have Arrived" and 1986's "Darkness Descends" — before he exited the group and was replaced by Ron Rinehart (after a brief stint with Jim Drabos in 1987). The band issued two more studio LPs — 1989's "Leave Scars" and 1991's "Time Does Not Heal" — before calling it quits in 1992. Rinehart, drummer Gene Hoglan and guitarist Eric Meyer reassembled DARK ANGEL more than a decade ago but were forced to abandon their reunion plans after health issues reportedly put Rinehart's singing career on hold.

Asked how it feels playing together as DARK ANGEL again, guitarist Jim Durkin told "The Metal Magdalene With Jet" show on Metal Messiah Radio: "One thing I can say about this band is we laugh a lot. We have a pretty twisted sense of humor, and there's some things that we say that only we get, when we're talking about stuff, old stories or something. And we laugh a lot, and that's really important. No matter where we go, we're always cracking up or cracking on somebody or making fun of somebody. We laugh a lot, and that's the key right there; that's what makes it so much fun. You know, everybody's been in a band with somebody where they're, like, 'Oh, God, I've gotta see that guy again. Oh, I've gotta put up with him or her.' Or whatever. And it’s not like that here. We have a lot of laughs. We make fun of each other and everybody's got a good sense of humor about themselves."

Regarding whether there is new DARK ANGEL music on the way, Durkin said: "We have always had some things in the works, and there's some demos laying around. Yes. I won't give everybody a time limit. I want everybody to be excited, and it's gonna blow your heads off. But we want it to be the most badass thing that we can possibly do, and trust me, it will be."

Papa Emeritus III and his nameless ghouls from the Swedish occult rock band GHOST take things one-step beyond with the new wine Papastrello — an Italian red wine for the unholy moments of life.

Said Papa Emeritus III: "They say that this wine is the blood of Christ? I would argue otherwise. It's fermented grapes. That's all. Very nice fermented grapes… but fruit nonetheless."

About Ghost Papastrello: Rosso del Veronese is a powerful but well-balanced red wine, with perfumes of fruits and cacao and with a red color of great intensity. This wine is perfect with roast red meat, game and aged cheeses, but it is excellent also on its own. The very typical verenose grapes, Corvina and Rondinella, go under a natural drying process, without any alteration of the humidity and temperature level. Afterwards the wine goes through a very slow fermentation and a maceration of 8-10 days, followed by a second fermentation on the residue of Amarone’s dried grapes. From this second fermentation the wine gets more powerful, higher in alcohol, more tannins and acidity. Then the wine refines in oak barrels for approximately 12 months.

Detroit's progressive rock royals, Tiles, have release a lyric video for “Weightless”, a track from their upcoming sixth studio full-length, the massive 2xCD Pretending 2 Run album. Watch below:

Tiles recently released another new trailer preceding the April 15th release of Pretending 2 Run, the band's first album with prog powerhouse, Laser's Edge. Here the band takes fans inside the album, showcasing through interviews, studio footage, behind-the-scenes info on the album and more how this simple idea grew into the incredibly complex double-album undertaking it became.

Produced by Terry Brown (Rush, Fates Warning) and bearing artwork by Hugh Syme (Iron Maiden, Rush, Dream Theater), Pretending 2 Run is unquestionably Tiles' most ambitious project to date. Containing just short of one hundred minutes of music, the epic sees the band pushing their musical boundaries into new dimensions, and features a remarkable collection of guest musicians, including the first recorded father-and-son collaboration with Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs, Dream Theater) and his son Max Portnoy (Next To None), the recording of which is documented in the trailer. "Hearts/Wires", a brand new song from the California-based rock band DEFTONES, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the group's eighth studio album, titled "Gore", which will be released on April 8 via Warner Bros. Records. The CD was produced by Matt Hyde and DEFTONES. DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine about the new album title: "If you look at the title and the artwork, it's about a juxtaposition that, for me, is very beautiful.

"I think DEFTONES have always flirted with dynamic and that yin-and-yang of things that are provocative and things that are beautiful. Where our last two album titles were a lot more optimistic, I think this title is intentionally different. This record is very different.

"I feel like 'Diamond Eyes' and 'Koi No Yokan' were brother-sister records in a lot of ways. They were both recording in the same way. And even though it was a tough few years we went through while making those records, I think it was important to have their optimistic outlook."

Moreno also spoke in more detail about the making of "Gore". He said: "We recorded this record in a different way. I'm not saying we went in with any preconceived ideas as such, but I do think we went in knowing that we wanted to make this record a little different from the last two. And I feel, definitely, like we did that. It's still a DEFTONES record — we didn't really have any new influences that changed that — but it's an expansion of what we were comfortable with. And it's important to get out of your comfort zone sometimes witch the music — just to be excited. It's got a different look. A different shade of color. I'd say some shade of purple. I don't know why, but I think it sits somewhere between pink, red and purple. Sometimes when I hear music, I see color, and when it came time to work on the artwork for this batch of songs, I knew exactly what I wanted."

Spark TV, which is part of the Czech monthly magazine Spark, recently conducted an interview with vocalist Joakim Brodén of Swedish metallers SABATON. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On SABATON's follow-up to 2014's "Heroes" album:

Joakim: "We are actually just finalizing the details. I don't wanna say anything yet, because we can just change our minds in the last second; we've done that before. So I'm not trying to be secretive or anything. But I can promise everyone that as soon as we know and we know we started the recordings and most of the vocals are done, and me and Pär [Sundström, bass] and Chris [Rörland, guitar] and Thobbe [Englund, guitar] and Hannes [van Dahl, drums] can't change our minds, then we will let everyone know."

On whether the upcoming album will be a continuation of the lyrical themes covered on "Heroes":

Joakim: "No, not really. We were thinking about it, actually, because that was, for us, to research and to write the lyrics, that was one of the most interesting albums to do, from that point of view. And we tried, I think, two or three different themes, but we still couldn't get the same feeling, personally, as we did for 'Heroes'. We were actually considering doing that, but then we found a topic that… it's touching on the same subject, [but] a little bit different."

On whether SABATON's next CD will be about "evil guys" or villains:

Joakim: "No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We actually wanted to do that before, but our lovely record label didn't like that idea, and I can see the point in a way. Obviously, people in different places [have] different sensibilities about things. When we did 'Heroes', we wanted to also do a second CD that was called 'Commanders'. And in Sweden, it wouldn't be a big problem to put a song about Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin… you know, get all the crazy guys in there. The problem could be, though, that in other parts of the world… I'm guessing it would probably okay in the Czech Republic; you seem to be quite easy about these things. But I'm guessing Germany, America, doing these things… also maybe Russia wouldn't like us digging into those things. And we wouldn't want to make people really sad or end up on a 'banned' list. It would be kind of stupid for us."

SABATON released a special, three-disc limited-edition deluxe version of "Heroes" in the U.S. and Canada in April 2015 via Nuclear Blast. Speaking to Las Vegas Weekly, Stanley stated about how the idea for the KISS residency came about: "To spend as much time as we do in Vegas and to live as close as we do, the idea of doing a residency and leaving our stage setup, as opposed to breaking it down nightly, was really appealing."

He continued: "We just finished 42 cities and played for 600,000 people, but that meant that every night the show got disassembled and moved. There’s something appealing and challenging about building a set that doesn’t have to be moved. You don't have to take into account the practicality of it, being able to be broken down constantly and reassembled. So this was something that we had wanted to do for quite a while; it was just a matter of making sure we found people who were in agreement on how to do it. The Joint was the natural place to do it."

In advance of their 2016 Spring live takeover, California atmospheric tech death unit, Wrvth, unveils the visual companion to "Larkspur", from their self-titled full-length album released via Unique Leader last year.

Wrvth's latest run of onstage mayhem will commence with a short string of headlining dates this Friday, April 8th in Riverside, California and run through April 13th in Austin, Texas. Montessori Hale O Keiki has big plans to grow; in and beyond its current site in Kihei, but after weeks of searching could not find the environment they were looking for. When they heard of Sammy Hagar’s home for sale in Ukumehame they made an offer and it was a match made in heaven. James Hetfield and Sammy Hagar recently announced the lineup for their third annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure concert benefiting the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Acoustic-4-A-Cure returns to The Fillmore in San Francisco on Sunday, May 15th with another star-studded lineup (in alphabetical order): Melissa Etheridge, Sammy Hagar, James Hetfield, Tommy Lee, John Mayer, Pat Monahan and Joe Satriani - performing acoustic sets with true once-in-a-lifetime musical moments, collaborations and more.

UK-based modern rock quartet, Skarlett Riot, release their anthemic new single “Voices” today, April 4th. A new video for the track can be seen below.

Taken from the upcoming Sentience EP, “Voices” is a slice of hugely melodic modern rock, blessed with a stadium sized hook and showcasing the always exceptional vocals of frontwoman Skarlett.

Next month, Small Stone will release Sonic Debris from Portugal riff rockers, Miss Lava. A music video for the album track "In The Arms Of The Freaks” can be found below. A true sonic voyage with a diversity beyond anything yet evidenced by the band, Sonic Debris explores new auditory landscapes and an open and inclusive creative process. Sonic Debris was captured at Pentagon Audio Manufacturers, JDB Showroom and Estúdio Crossover in Lisbon at various times throughout 2014 and 2015, produced by Fernando Matias and Miss Lava, engineered by Matias, José Pedro Ataíde and Ricardo Bravo, mixed by Benny Grotto at Mad Oak Studios in Boston, Massachusetts, and mastered by Chris Goosman at Baseline Audio Labs in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Sonic Debris follows 2013's Red Supergiant and 2009's Blues For The Dangerous Miles, which was listed among Loud Magazine's Top Five Portuguese albums of that year, and 2008's limited edition, self-titled EP.

"With this album we left the door of our spacecraft wide open... this is a trippy ride with lots of headbanging going on," comments guitarist K. Raffah. Dan Reed Network’s new album, Fight Another Day, will be released on June 3rd.

Fight Another Day marks the return of one of the most infectious and gifted bands to come out in the melodic rock world in the second part of the 80's. The new album was recorded primarily in the home town of members of DRN, Portland, Oregon, while most of the writing process took place in Dan Reed's private studio in Prague in the Czech Republic, where Reed currently resides with his family. Demos were sent back and forth between Derek Shulman (A&R for Frontiers), Brion James, Melvin Brannon Jr. and Rob Daiker, making notes and refining the songs over great distances via the internet. This process was not unlike with DRN composed songs back in the late 80's and early 90's as Dan Reed used to demo out songs on his Akai 12 track machine and bring the songs into rehearsals where the band members would then arrange and flesh out the band's classic 'funk rock' sound.

After the tracking was completed, band's keyboardist Rob Daiker went to work editing and mixing each track alongside Shulman and Reed, sending mixes back and forth, making notes and shaping and moulding the album to best represent what DRN sounds like currently, while paying respect to what brought the band to the world's attention back in the late 80's.

"I thought it would be a great experiment and interesting challenge to revisit what endeared the band to so many back in the day and deliver a rock record with funk and soul elements, strong melodies, but this time around incorporate even edgier lyrics while not losing sight that this release needed to be uplifting, infectious, and most of all, powerful when performed live," says Dan Reed. "The title Fight Another Day'represents the fact that after 25 years we were able to gravitate back to the passion we discovered playing together all those years ago, and battle once more!"

The band looks forward to the world's response to this new labor of love, and this testament to the bonds of friendship and musical chemistry! Worldwide touring over the next twelve months will support the album release.

“Renegades Of The Last Rites”, a track from Southend-On-Sea, UK-based metallers Forged In Black’s upcoming Fear Reflecting Fear EP, out on April 29th, is streaming below.

Forged In Black came into being in 2013, when the members of Merciless Fail decided a stronger, more metallic name was needed to accompany a new, more focussed and driven attitude to their music. Their aim was to bring together the virtuosity and guitar melodies of traditional metal, the power and energy of thrash metal, the atmosphere of the darkest doom and the epic scope of power metal. Everything they loved in music alchemically blended into one potent potion of metal magic.

Having released their self-titled debut album - an expanded version of a Merciless Fail EP with additional material and new cover art - Forged In Black quickly powered ahead, barely pausing for breath, before unleashing a new four track EP entitled The Tide. This highlighted their formidable new found sense of purpose and lead to them recording a single, “The Exodus”, with producer Romesh Dodangoda, noted for his work with Motörhead, Sylosis and Bullet For My Valentine.

Now, in 2016, Forged In Black are preparing to unveil their finest release to date, their music honed to perfection through years sharing the stage with the likes of Breed 77, Savage Messiah, Praying Mantis and Beholder. The Fear Reflecting Fear EP was recorded with the legendary producer Chris Tsangarides, a man who helped to craft some of the finest albums recorded by bands such as Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and King Diamond.

METALLICA will reissue its first two albums, 1983's "Kill 'Em All" and 1984's "Ride The Lightning", on April 15. Both albums have been remastered for the most advanced sound quality and will be available in three formats — CD, vinyl, and deluxe box set. Both deluxe box sets include original source material from the band's personal collection with many never-before- heard-or-seen recordings, along with a book including rare photos and essays from those who were there.

The deluxe numbered box set of "Kill 'Em All" includes four vinyl records, five CDs, one DVD, a deluxe book including rare photos and a patch while the deluxe numbered box set of "Ride The Lightning" includes four vinyl records, six CDs, one DVD, a deluxe book including more of those unseen photos, a mini-book of lyrics handwritten by James Hetfield and a set of three posters. The deluxe box sets are limited-edition collectors' items.

Fans can pre-order both deluxe box sets at the Met Store now and all six new items will, of course, also be available at your local record store on Friday, April 15, just in time for Record Store Day.

Originally issued on July 25, 1983 through the independent label Megaforce Records, "Kill 'Em All" was recorded in two weeks on a miniscule budget in upstate New York. Although only 1,500 copies were initially pressed, the album was reissued by Elektra Records after the band signed to that label in 1984 and has since been certified triple platinum for sales of more than three million copies.

The varied sounds of "Ride The Lightning", which included the first METALLICA ballad in "Fade To Black", drew mixed responses from some fans. The band's drummer, Lars Ulrich, told Rolling Stone magazine: "It did surprise us a little bit, I guess. People started calling us sellouts and all that type of stuff. Some people were a little bit bewildered by the fact that there was a song that had acoustic guitars."

Noting that at least four songs from the album are still part of METALLICA's live set today, Ulrich said that "Ride The Lightning" "holds up very well," adding, "There's kind of a youthful energy that runs through the record."

Danish/American rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT have finished mixing their sixth full-length album with Joe Barresi, the American record engineer and producer who has previously worked with bands such as KYUSS, MELVINS, TOOL, CHEVELLE and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. The follow-up to 2013's "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" was once again co-produced by Rob Caggiano, who joined VOLBEAT as the band's lead guitarist in February 2013.

VOLBEAT last November parted ways with bassist Anders Kjølholm. A replacement bassist has not yet been announced.

VOLBEAT performed a brand new song, "The Devil's Bleeding Crown", in full live for the first time in August 2015 in front of over 37,000 people at Tusindarsskoven in Odense, Denmark.

VOLBEAT last year signed a North American management agreement with Q Prime, the New York-based music management firm founded and run by Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch.

VOLBEAT will return to the road this spring with a string of dates around their first-ever Coachella performances April 15 and April 22 with support from BLACK STONE CHERRY and MONSTER TRUCK.

Celebrating its return to the U.S., the band will play with an intimate "Evening With Volbeat" show at the Roxy in West Hollywood, California on April 13. The legendary venue will serve as the perfect setting to get up close and personal with the band's signature hybrid of rock prowess, metal power, blues soul, and rockabilly swing.

Announced today, in conjunction with this summer's U.S. tour, Jeff Beck will release a new studio album on July 15. This marks his first studio album since the Grammy-winning "Emotion & Commotion" in 2010. In addition, more U.S. tour dates, co-headlining with the blues legend Buddy Guy were also announced today. As was previously announced, the duo will begin their joint tour on July 19 in Port Chester, New York before hitting New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Michigan. The tour will make a special stop at the Ravinia festival in Highland Park, Illinoois on Sunday, July 31, before heading to Nashville and then making the trek west to Los Angeles. As was previously announced, Beck will make a very special appearance at the Hollywood Bowl on August 10 to celebrate 50 years of "dynamic music making." Over the course of Beck's illustrious 50-year career, the trailblazing guitarist has earned many accolades. He's been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame twice — first as a member of THE YARDBIRDS in 1992 and then again as a solo artist in 2009. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him as one of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and he has earned a total of eight Grammy Awards during his long career. In addition, Beck has been a guest performer at scores of sessions with everyone from Stevie Wonder and Buddy Guy to Tina Turner and Mick Jagger. Throughout his career, Beck routinely makes the fantastically difficult sound effortless. The Cult have released a teaser for their upcoming “G O A T” video. The track is featured on the band’s recently released Hidden City, their 10th studio album (and second for Cooking Vinyl).

The final installment in a trilogy of recordings, completing 2007's Born Into This ("The Fall") and 2012's Choice of Weapon ("Dark Night Of The Soul"), Hidden City is a tightly-woven series of experience and visions with underlying themes of redemption and rebirth threaded through The Cult's visceral music. Astbury's signature baritone and blood-soaked lyrics paired with Duffy's smouldering, textured guitar tones, create a musical environment that is fearless and peerless.

From the sonic assault of the opening track "Dark Energy" (streaming below), Hidden City launches quickly into the dark underbelly of its subject matter. 2112 has been newly-remastered on 200-gram, heavyweight vinyl at legendary Abbey Road Studios using the Direct to Metal Mastering (DMM) audiophile copper plating process, all from original analogue masters. RUSH's fourth album, 2112, first released in 1976, proved a breakthrough, highlighted by its seven-part title suite - written by Lee and Lifeson, with lyrics by Peart - recounting a dystopian story set in the year 2112. It came in at #2 on Rolling Stone's list of 'Your Favorite Prog Rock Albums of All Time.' Most Rush fans consider it the band's definitive recording and it has sold over 3 million albums in the U.S., going triple-platinum.

This unique reissue showcases a custom, limited-edition, hand-etched hologram of the 'Red Star of the Federation' pressed in the album's dead wax runout of side two. To reveal the spinning hologram, fans can use any focused source of light, such as the LED flashlight on a smartphone, directly above the turntable while playing.

Rush frontman Geddy Lee recently sat down with Music Radar and went through a track-by-track overview of the band's critically acclaimed fourth album, 2112, released in 1976. An excerpt is available below:

Lee: “It begins with the 'Overture', which – despite being the first thing you hear – was the last piece to be written, much like with any classical overture. We wanted to take the most important musical threads from each of the subsequent parts to create a ‘new’ piece of music that would represent the album as a whole. So that’s where it all starts.”

“And then 'The Temples Of Syrinx' sets the scene, because 2112 is about a totalitarian society that controls everything about your life, including the music that you hear. It manufactures it all, so that’s what we wanted to say with this track. It sets up the hierarchy in this futuristic world that we’ve arrived in.”

“'Discovery' is where the hero of the story finds a device in a cave. It’s a guitar, but he doesn’t know it because they don’t exist in his time period. So he picks it up and realises that it’s a device that can make music and create sounds. Previous to that point, everything he’d ever heard had been provided to him by the people that run his world.”

Former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen’s new heavy rock album, The Shadow Self, is due for release on August 5th via earMusic. Today (April 4th) she will shoot the official video for "No Bitter End" in Nuremberg, Germany. On April 3rd she had a photoshoot with Tim Tronckoe; a sample from the shoot is available below.

With the release of her fourth rock album, the versatile singer is following up on the success of the multi-platinum and gold-awarded previous records: My Winter Storm (2007), What Lies Beneath (2010), and her most recent album, Colours In The Dark (2013), which charted all over the globe, including four Top 10 entries.

Frontiers Music Srl will release "Ghost Of Graceland", the new album from Swedish hard rockers TREAT, on April 15.

Building on the success of their last album, 2010's "Coup De Grace", hailed by both fans and critics as a masterpiece, TREAT has put together an album packed with reflective, soul-searching songs dressed in devilishly seductive yet hard-hitting melodic rock. "This is where we are today, as a band, as musicians, songwriters and individuals. It's a statement: this is us in 2016," says TREAT's main songwriter and guitarist Anders Wikström. "Ghost Of Graceland" was produced by longtime TREAT fan and respected writer/producer Peter Mansson and co-produced by Anders Wikström, showcases a band with a thirty-plus-year career, that are hungrier and more energetic than ever!
