MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Is Still Hoping To Be Inducted Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAMEMEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine spoke to Noisey about the band's forthcoming album, "Dystopia", which will be released later this month via Universal Music Enterprises / Tradecraft / T-Boy Records. Asked if it is still important for MEGADETH to one day be recognized by the Grammy Awards, he said: "The thing is, in the beginning, the Grammy thing was really important to us. Then, we started to see that it wasn't really as easy as somebody would think, because the people that are on the board, they've gotta listen to 45 Latin records and a bunch of Hawaiian stuff and then WEIRD AL YANKOVICH kinds of records, and so when it comes time to listen to metal, they just go, 'Oh fuck, I ain't listening to that. What's the name that I recognize there?' And that's why they saw JETHRO TULL and went, 'Okay, give JETHRO TULL the metal award.'
He continued: "There's been some bad ones. But I'm cool with it. If I get the Grammy or if I don't get the Grammy, I've been recognized by my peers a lot. I've been nominated almost a dozen times, so at the end of the day, it's, like, are you satisfied with what you have? And I'm — let's say this — I'm content. I'm not satisfied. I'm not giving up yet."
Mustaine added: "I'm hoping that I'll be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, too, but, you know, if they don't want me in there, it's okay. I mean, I am in there vis-à-vis METALLICA, and no matter what those guys say or what anybody believes about their induction ceremony, they wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for me being in the band, because I was there in the beginning, so I have some satisfaction."
Mustaine, who was a member of METALLICA for less than two years, from 1981 to 1983, before being dismissed and replaced by Kirk Hammett, was not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band during the April 2009 ceremony at Cleveland, Ohio's Public Auditorium.
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich later explained to The Plain Dealer that Mustaine was not included because "you've got to kind of cap it somewhere. Dave Mustaine never played on any METALLICA records. No disrespect to him. But there [were] half a dozen other people that were in the lineup in the early days. We thought . . . the fair thing to do would be to include anybody that played on a METALLICA record."
He added: "Dave Mustaine was in the band for 11 months, predominantly in 1982. . . . I'm not trying to play it down. I have nothing but respect and admiration for his accomplishments since."
METALLICA invited Mustaine to attend the Rock Hall induction. He declined, citing European tour commitments, but issued a statement congratulating the band. He later explained his absence in an interview, saying: "I'm not gonna sit in the audience and watch the band I started with these two guys get inducted and me not be a part of it."
He added: "There's ten million people that agree [I should have been inducted]. . . You know what [Lars] said to me?! He said, [imitating Lars' Danish accent] 'Only the people that are on the fucking record can be at the Hall Of Fame, man.' And I was like, 'Well, Hooked On Phonics worked for me; I can read my name; it's all over [the first METALLICA album]. [Laughs] But you know what?! It's OK, 'cause if I'm gonna get into the Hall Of Fame, there's nothing he can do to stop me." 17

DEVIL TO PAY Release New Song "Your Inner Lemmy" In Tribute Of MOTÖRHEAD Legend; Free Download AvailableOn December 28th, 2015, the music world lost a true legend with the passing of Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, the long time leader of seminal heavy metal band, Motörhead. Known for his fierce independence and true originality, his spirit has influenced several generations of musicians and music lovers.
Devil To Pay is one such band that owes a tremendous amount to Lemmy's enduring legacy. Originally inspired by the great man, the Indianapolis quartet have chosen to honour his memory with the free download of new song, “Your Inner Lemmy”, taken their forthcoming album A Bend Through Time And Space, due for release later this summer on Ripple Music.
As Steve Janiak, singer and guitarist of Devil To Pay explains, "We initially came up with the riffs in 2013 and they obviously sounded very Motörhead-ish. I named the track “Your Inner Lemmy” because it felt like we were channelling the rock god. Months later we fleshed out the arrangement and wrote the lyrics; it’s a textbook lesson on everything Lemmy was about to us personally. We initially didn't intend to put it on the record, but the more we played it, the more it spoke to us and after we recorded it, we really hoped that somehow he would end up hearing the song. His unfortunate passing shocked and saddened us all."
Through ten years of soul searching and survival – crawling out from the dank underbelly of the Indianapolis heavy music scene – Devil To Pay established themselves in the underground rock community after signing to Ripple Music to release their album Fate Is Your Muse. Released worldwide in early spring 2013, the album was a heavy, lyrical journey through the metaphysical realms of consciousness. A subject that the quartet will be revisiting again very soon with their latest collection of paranormal/mind-bending heaviness on A Bend Through Time And Space.
In the meantime, their heartfelt tribute to the spirit of the man who never bowed down to anyone, can be shared and downloaded for free at this location.

FOOD & BEVERAGE MAGAZINE Renames Jack And Coke In LEMMY's HonorFood & Beverage Magazine has officially named the industry standard call-out drink of Jack & Coke to "The Lemmy" in honor of MOTÖRHEAD legend Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister's favorite drink which he made famous on the Sunset Strip at the Rainbow Bar And Grill.
"We are honored to represent the industry and bring the moniker The Lemmy to every bar in the world!" exclaims Food and Beverage Magazine publisher Michael Politz. "Owning a rock club with ANTHRAX's Scott Ian and ALICE IN CHAINS' Jerry Cantrell gave me the chance to meet Lemmy and experience his legend myself."
Lemmy, who just celebrated his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve (December 24), learned two days later that he was afflicted with an aggressive form of cancer. He died on December 28 in Los Angeles.
MOTÖRHEAD was revered by both metal and punk fans, and Lemmy was considered an icon for his musical talent and his embodiment of the rock and roll lifestyle.
Lemmy had been dealing with serious health issues for the past two years, including getting a pacemaker in 2013 and suffering from a hematoma in 2014. But despite 40 years of hard living and drinking, he continued to tour and record at a feverish pace.
The band was forced to cancel or postpone a number of shows last year due to Lemmy's poor health, which also forced him to cut back on his drinking and give up smoking. 4

ALICE COOPER On DAVID BOWIE: 'I Have Certainly Lost One Of My Lifetime Rock And Roll Theatrical Comrades'Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has paid tribute to David Bowie, who died on Sunday, two days after his 69th birthday.
"It's hard to know exactly what to say when you hear of someone's passing," Alice said. "I know that I have certainly lost one of my lifetime rock and roll theatrical comrades in David Bowie. We both started in theatrical rock 'n' roll at the same time, and in some cases we challenged each other to go farther and push the envelope."
He continued: "The loss of David Bowie will be hard to swallow for everyone. He leaves behind a rich history of musical and cultural experimentation and invention that will rarely be seen again, if ever. He was one of a kind.
"The man that fell to Earth has gone back to the planet that he came from.
"Condolences to his family and fans."
Bowie died just three days after releasing his 25th studio album, "Blackstar".
The singer, songwriter, actor and fashion icon reportedly kept his 18-month battle with cancer so private that even close friends weren't aware of his struggle.
In the early Seventies, Bowie was occasionally accused of borrowing from Cooper's onstage persona. "I kind of expected all that to happen, and I just trusted in my own conceptions that eventually we'd split off and have separate identities, Alice and myself," Bowie said in a 1977 interview. "I just trusted in my optimistic ideas of what I could do."

SPIRITUAL BEGGARS To Release 'Sunrise To Sundown' Album In MarchSPIRITUAL BEGGARS — the Swedish band featuring ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo, along with vocalist Apollo Papathanasio (ex-FIREWIND) — will release its ninth studio album, titled "Sunrise To Sundown", on March 18 in Europe and March 25 in North America via InsideOut Music. Just like on their previous two album releases, "Return To Zero" (2010) and "Earth Blues" (2013), SPIRITUAL BEGGARS' stellar lineup is is rounded out by Per Wiberg (CANDLEMASS, ex-OPETH) on keyboards and Ludwig Witt (GRAND MAGUS, FIREBIRD) on drums. After a busy couple of last years with ARCH ENEMY, Michael Amott and his bandmates have once again found the availability and inspiration to lay down eleven dynamic and uplifting new songs, which not only easily demonstrate how much on top of their game SPIRITUAL BEGGARS still are after over twenty years of activities, but also add a fresh and spontaneous vibe to their impressive catalogue. Speaking about how the new album came together, Amott said: "We've been writing the album here and there over the last couple of years when our schedules have allowed us to meet up and spend a few days jamming. A few of the songs I wrote on my own; others were written by our keyboard player Per Wiberg. Our drummer Ludwig Witt submitted two tracks that are actually his first major contributions to the band as a writer — and they're great songs too! I also co-wrote a few tunes with Per Wiberg and that was really a lot of fun as well, it's been a very collaborative process." In contrast to the often-soulless current high-tech digital cut-paste recordings, "Sunrise To Sundown" was tracked live off the floor. Amott said: "I'm super excited about how the album sounds sonically. Our engineer, Staffan Karlsson, also produced and mixed the album, and the result is something we're very proud of.
"I think every album we have made (this being our ninth) has had its own vibe and atmosphere. I can honestly say this band has never made the same album twice.
"To me, 'Sunrise To Sundown' is the next chapter of the book we've been writing since we started the band over twenty years ago. Of course, the foundation of our style is heavy rock music, but we always keep evolving adding new influences and colours to the bands core sound." SPIRITUAL BEGGARS will embark on a European tour in support of "Sunrise To Sundown" in March.
SPIRITUAL BEGGARS reissued two of its classic catalog titles on October 14, 2013: the band's 2005 "Demons" album was made available for the first time ever on vinyl via InsideOut Music; and their acclaimed and hard-to-find debut LP, the self-titled "Spiritual Beggars" from 1994, was re-released with over 70 minutes of unreleased bonus material via Century Media Records.
SPIRITUAL BEGGARS is:
Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY, CARCASS) - Guitar Ludwig Witt (FIREBIRD) - DrumsPer Wiberg (OPETH) - KeyboardsSharlee D'Angelo (ARCH ENEMY, MERCYFUL FATE) - BassApollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND) - Vocals

LIFE OF AGONY Signs With NAPALM RECORDS, Announces New Album 'A Place Where There's No More Pain'LIFE OF AGONY has signed a worldwide deal with Napalm Records. The band's fifth studio album, and their first in over a decade, titled "A Place Where There's No More Pain", will be released later in the year.
LIFE OF AGONY bassist Alan Robert comments: "I think our fans know that our music comes from a very real place of suffering, from all of us in the band.
"Many of our fans have told us over the years that sharing our personal struggles has been cathartic for them in healing the pain in their own lives. That uplifting energy we share at the shows gives us hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. And for us and hopefully our fans, that short time when we're all together is a place where there's no more pain."
Adds Thomas Caser, CEO of Napalm Records: "LIFE OF AGONY is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting and energetic rock bands of our times. It is an honor to work with such talent. We are excited to announce their signing to Napalm Records and release the band's first album after over a decade."
LIFE OF AGONY returned to the stage and performed on multiple festival dates in Europe over the summer of 2014. The band's famed "River Runs Red" lineup, consisting of vocalist Mina Caputo, guitarist Joseph Zampella (a.k.a. Joey Z), bassist Alan Robert and drummer Sal Abruscato, was excited to take the stage together once again after a three-year hiatus.
During an interview at last summer's Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, Mina Caputo (formerly known as Keith Caputo), who came out as transgender in 2011, was asked if there are any plans for LIFE OF AGONY to release new music. She said: "We can't predict the unseen. We have spoken about some stuff. We're shooting around some ideas, but [there's] nothing solid at the moment. But we may pop out with a song or two. We're not one hundred percent sure. We're having a great time. [There's] no pressure. We're getting offers from so many different kinds of companies and labels that just wanna throw money at us. But we're just, like… We don't even know if we wanna be with a label. We're tired of it. We make our money. We do all of these big shows in between the festivals. We're selling out. We don't need tour support. We don't need anybody."
Asked in a December 2015 interview with The Aquarian Weekly how LIFE OF AGONY's music is still relatable and influential to the hardcore the scene today, Alan said: "Well, I think there is something to be said about the message and the music. When a lot of those songs were written, especially lyrically — you know, 'River Runs Red'… I was probably in my late teens writing those songs. It was all about dealing with depression and struggles growing up, and you know… just taking in everything that we were all going through in our families, and also dealing with troubles socializing things. And these are all common themes even now. Kids today, I think, are still going through these problems — maybe even more so, because you know, now that technology is in everyone's hands, it almost isolates you even more in a way. And these are common themes in all of our records, especially on the 'Ugly' record. Themes like feeling out of place and feeling like the ugly duckling, basically, and, 'We are the black sheep.' These are just common issues with growing up, and I think that some of these personalities gravitate towards hardcore music and metal music because it's still kind of on the outskirts of mainstream, and it's kind of going against the grain of what's expected, and I think they find community there. I know I did growing up, and going to shows to let out some angst, and anger, and turn it into positivity — I think that's been the whole message of LIFE OF AGONY from the start."
He continued: "Whether we realize it or not, we started out as these angry, depressed [laughs] kids, and by venting through our music, we created a community we're accepted in, and we can bond with people who were going through the same emotions. That is the 'hardcore' aspect of the music. There's a lot of 'metal' type of sounds and guitar riffs, but as far as the 'hardcore elements' in LIFE OF AGONY, the honesty and the purity of the message that we were trying to communicate was trying to basically lift someone up when they're feeling down, and let them know that you're not alone out there."
Alan added: "Time and time again, we have fans coming up to us from all over the world thanking us for making the music that we do because it saved their lives, and that means the world to us because we knew how it felt to be alone when no one was listening. Here are these kids listening to our music, knowing that they're not alone, and that no one else feels the same way that they do."
Regarding LIFE OF AGONY's future plans, Alan said: "I think ever since the summer of 2014 when we kicked this back up again, it's been so much fun and the energy has been so good between us and the people everywhere we go that we want to keep it going; we absolutely do. We're having a great time. And I think now that Mina has come out, she is free as a bird, and there is no holding back. It's just so great to see, not just as a bandmember, but as a longtime friend, to see her really comfortable in her own skin. I'm just really proud of her for her bravery, and everyone's been so accepting and so positive that it's really encouraging to see."

Ex-IMMORTAL Frontman ABBATH: Entire Debut Album Available For StreamingThe self-titled debut album from ABBATH, the band led by ex-IMMORTAL frontman Olve Eikemo (a.k.a. Abbath), can be streamed in its entirety below. The CD will be released on January 22 via Season Of Mist.
"Abbath" track listing:
01. To War02. Winter Bane03. Ashes Of The Damned04. Ocean Of Wounds05. Count The Dead06. Fenrir Hunts07. Root Of The Mountain08. Endless09. Nebular Ravens Winter (bonus track)
The album can be pre-ordered at this location.
ABBATH released a seven-inch single, "Count The Dead", on December 11 via Season Of Mist. The A-side features the title track while the B-side consists of a cover version of the JUDAS PRIEST classic "Riding On The Wind".
Bass duties for ABBATH are being handled by a man familiar to metal fans across the world — Tom Cato Visnes, more widely known as King Ov Hell and main composer for several GORGOROTH albums as well as his own bands OV HELL, with singer Shagrath from DIMMU BORGIR, and GOD SEED, with exceptional black metal vocalist Gaahl.
In a recent interview with Australia's TheMusic.com.au, Abbath spoke about the circumstances surrounding his departure from IMMORTAL and his decision to launch a new group. "I feel like I've been fired," he said. "It was never my intention to go solo but I really feel like I've been forced into it. Apparently they [lyricist/guitarist Demonaz and drummer Horgh] are going to continue on [as IMMORTAL] without me and that's fine — but it was very disappointing that no one, not even [IMMORTAL's record label] Nuclear Blast, wanted to hear my side of the story. The other guys wanted to do things solely on their timetable and also claimed that I need to go to rehab, which was just nonsense, because I've always delivered, live and in the studio — always. My plan was to go into the studio last year. If I had my way, IMMORTAL would have been on tour right now."
He continued: "I just think they ended up being in it for the wrong reasons. They weren't showing any passion for what we were doing.
"Even though my new band is called ABBATH, it finally feels like I'm in a real band — part of a group of musicians who have a great dialogue and share a passion for the music. It didn't feel like that in IMMORTAL for a long time."

Former SLAYER Drummer DAVE LOMBARDO Exits PHILMFormer SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo has left PHILM, the Los Angeles-based experimental post-hardcore act he launched several years ago with guitarist/vocalist Gerry Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE) and bassist Pancho Tomaselli (WAR).
During an interview on episode 224 of the "Let There Be Talk" podcast with rock and roll comedian Dean Delray, Lombardo declined to reveal the reasons for his exit from PHILM, telling Delray (hear audio below): "I'm not gonna talk about it. They didn't want me to promote the band while I was with them, and I'm certainly not gonna do it when I'm without them."
Lombardo added: "I don't wanna talk about it anymore. Yeah, so I just said, 'See ya!'"
According to Lombardo, he was also told that he had to change his playing style to accommodate PHILM: "[They said] 'Don't play hard. We want you to play a little softer.' I said, 'Nope.'"
PHILM officially took form in late 2010 with a handful of tour dates and an early four-song demo that quickly began to make the rounds of in-the-know music critics.
In a 2014 interview with Journey Of A Frontman, Lombardo was full of praise for his PHILM bandmates, explaining that "it felt like a rejuvenation when I first got the band together in 2010."
He went on to say: "When you're in a band for more than 20 years, it becomes a job. There's hardly any communication with bandmembers — you rehearse with the band a couple of days before the tour, then fly back and that's it. You see them on stage but there's really not much to it."
PHILM released its sophomore album, "Fire From The Evening Sun", on September 16, 2014 (one day earlier internationally) via UDR.
Lombardo recently formed a new band called DEAD CROSS with members of THE LOCUST and RETOX. The group is currently recording its debut album with producer Ross Robinson, who has previously worked with KORN, DEFTONES, SEPULTURA and LIMP BIZKIT, among others.
Lombardo described DEAD CROSS's sound to Noisey: "It's just straightforward brutal punk— metal-esque, but it's definitely not metal. I think it definitely leans more towards the punk style, because I feel that the way things are in the world, a punk attitude is definitely necessary to help you along with the shit that's going on. There's no time to sing, 'We Are the World', or all this bullshit, we're all pissed right now, and there's no better way to release anger than to be in a punk band and write punk music."
Lombardo was effectively fired from SLAYER after sitting out the band's Australian tour in February/March 2013 due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. He has since been replaced by Paul Bostaph, who was previously SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001. 7

METAL CHURCH: 'XI' Album Cover Artwork, Track Listing RevealedHard rock titans METAL CHURCH will release their new album, "XI", on March 25 via Rat Pak Records. Produced by Kurdt Vanderhoof and co-produced by Chris "The Wizard" Collier, the band's eleventh studio release also marks the return of legendary vocalist and frontman Mike Howe.
"XI" is available for pre-order in various exclusive bundles at this location. A limited number of the deluxe international version are available on the web site and features a bonus disc of eight extra songs. Other bundles include guitar picks, stickers, a special-edition behind-the-scenes photobook, t-shirts and even a limited number of personal phone calls from Mike Howe himself. The album is also available for pre-order on Amazon, Google Play and via iTunes. Fans that order the digital version will receive an instant download of the song "Killing Your Time" from the new album.
The reunion between Mike and METAL CHURCH was put in motion in July of 2014 when Mike started working with Kurdt Vanderhoof on a side project he was forming with Nigel Glockler from SAXON. Through these initial conversations, Kurdt convinced Mike to ultimately return to METAL CHURCH. The idea was to see if they could recapture some of the magic from the three albums METAL CHURCH released in the late '80s: "The Human Factor", "Blessing In Disguise" and "Hanging In The Balance". Out of those sessions, "XI" was born and captures the sound that made the band fan-favorites in the '80's and mixes it with a new, invigorated sound for 2016. "Sometimes I still can't believe it myself," says Vanderhoof. "No one would have ever thought Mike would return after his departure almost two decades ago."
Adds Howe: "At first, I struggled with the decision to come back, but after hearing the riffs that Kurdt was writing, I just couldn't resist. The music called to me and I wanted to be part of it!" METAL CHURCH has also released an official music video for the debut single from "XI", a song called "No Tomorrow". The clip was filmed in the Satsop Nuclear Facility, an abandoned nuclear power plant in Elma, Washington, with Seattle filmmaker and documentarian Jamie Burton Chamberlin (of Black Dahlia Films), who previously worked with DUFF MACKAGAN'S LOADED on "The Taking" series.
The track listing for "XI" is: 01. Reset02. Killing Your Time03. No Tomorrow04. Signal Path05. Sky Falls In06. Needle & Suture07. Shadow08. Blow Your Mind09. Soul Eating Machine10. It Waits11. Suffer Fools Rat Pak Records has entered into a licensing agreement with Nuclear Blast for distribution of "XI" in all territories outside of North America, South America and Japan.
"We here at Rat Pak Records were very excited to receive a licensing request from Markus Staiger and his amazing team at Nuclear Blast Europe to release this new METAL CHURCH [album] into their international territories, ultimately ensuring that this album will reach every corner of the globe," states Rat Pak Records president Joe O'Brien.
Staiger adds: "We are happy and proud to welcome METAL CHURCH, an absolute metal legend, to the Nuclear Blast Europe family! When the self-titled debut album was released in 1984, it was a revelation to me — that this was how heavy metal had to sound like — with killer riffs and plenty of speed!
"We will do our utmost to help re-establish METAL CHURCH here in Europe and get them back where they belong — in the 'Champions League' once again!"
King Records will oversee the new METAL CHURCH release throughout Japan.
"We are very excited to be releasing the new album by METAL CHURCH," adds "Ryo" Saito of King Records.

BRAINSTORM – New "How Much Can You Take" Song StreamingGerman power metallers Brainstorm have released another taste from their upcoming new album, Scary Creatures, due for release on January 15th. Check out "How Much Can You Take" below:
The band continues where they left off one and a half years ago with the previous release, and also mix and mastering was once again handled by Achim Koehler. But right away you feel that Scary Creatures is just that notch better than Firesoul; more anthemic, heavy and all musicians plus vocalist Andy B. Franck delivering to the max. Starting with the infectious opening track “The World To See” (which will also be the album’s first single and video clip), Brainstorm once again prove why they are one of the most popular and respected metal acts in the European scene. The band will embark on European tour in February 2016, followed by many festivals around the world in the summer.
Vocalist Andy B. Franck states: "Scary Creatures is a very emotional, an almost personal, album. All songs reflect the events and feelings of the past months, which made the music incredibly intense. To me, Scary Creatures is the logical successor to 2014's Firesoul and perfectly bridges to Brainstorm 2016. Also for the first time we achieved that many of the band members' children were integrated into several songs. It's another reason why the new album is very valuable and unique to us. Add to this the rough lyrical concept dealing with severals atrocities all over the world in the past centuries, Scary Creatures turned out to become an impressive metal album we all are proud of."
Tracklisting:
"The World To See"
"How Much Can You Take"
"We Are..."
"Where Angels Dream"

"Twisted Ways"
"Caressed By The Blackness"

Fan-filmed video footage of both performances can be seen below.
ROYAL MACHINES is the "all-star covers fun-times band" featuring former CAMP FREDDY members Dave Navarro (JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist), Donovan Leitch (son of legendary folk singer Donovan), and Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION, ALANIS MORRISETTE), alongside frequent CAMP FREDDY collaborator, singer Mark McGrath (SUGAR RAY), and acclaimed drummer Josh Freese (THE VANDALS, DEVO, A PERFECT CIRCLE).
Lemmy's January 9 memorial service was broadcast live on YouTube and was watched by more than 280,000 MOTÖRHEAD fans around the world.

EXUMER: New Song 'Sinister Souls' Available For StreamingGerman thrash metallers EXUMER will release their fourth full-length album, "The Raging Tides", on January 29 via Metal Blade Records.
Recorded with producer/engineer Waldemar Soychta at Waldstreet Sound in Dortmund, Germany, "The Raging Tides" is a deliberate and violent thrash attack that stays true to the band's 30-year legacy. Conceptually and lyrically, vocalist Mem V. Stein has based the bulk of the record around human suffering — specifically "caused by torture or other means for political, religious, or personal gain for the individuals/organizations who inflict the pain," Stein asserts. Inspired by a wide range of books and articles, the title of the album itself, according to Stein, "represents the ebb and flow of human misery and despair around the globe."
"The Raging Tides" track listing:
01. The Raging Tides02. Brand Of Evil03. Catatonic04. Sacred Defense05. Welcome To Hellfire06. Sinister Souls07. Shadow Walker08. There Will Always Be Blood09. Dark Reflections10. Death Factory11. Forever My Queen (PENTAGRAM cover; bonus track) 12. Hostage To Heaven (GRIP INC. cover; bonus track feat. Rob Dukes, Waldemar Sorychta, Markus Freiwald)
The song "Sinister Souls" can be streamed below.
Formed in 1985 by Mem V. Stein and guitarist Ray Mensh, EXUMER went on to release two albums (1986's "Possessed By Fire" and 1987's "Rising From The Sea") that are regarded as some of the most cult thrash metal releases ever to come out of Germany. EXUMER was also one of the first thrash metal acts to capture exotic, foreign markets like Poland and Brazil, where their albums were domestically released in the 1980s. The subsequent tours that followed those releases secured the band live shows in front of thousands of fans and an unusually large following outside of Germany.
Plagued by lineup changes and internal turmoil, EXUMER broke up in 1990, and did not perform live, with the exception of 2001 appearance at the prestigious Wacken Open Air festival, until 2009. 2

BRIMSTONE COVEN Premier New Track “Beyond The Astral”On January 29th, West Virginian dark occult rockers Brimstone Coven will release their debut full-length, Black Magic, via Metal Blade Records. The album track “Beyond The Astral” can be found below.
Formed only four short years ago in Wheeling, West Virginia, Brimstone Coven self-released Brimstone Coven and its follow-up II in 2013, before Metal Blade inked a deal and packaged both releases as a single set, entitled Brimstone Coven (2014). Inspired by the Appalachian's darkness and mysticism (such as the Mothman, a winged creature that emerged in the '60s; Screaming Jenny; and the Phantom Of Flatwoods), the quartet's heavy rock also pushes the atmospheric envelope when the mood fits.
Brimstone Coven explains, "What sets Black Magic apart to me is the genuinely eerie aura it invokes. We strove for a sound that makes you feel like you're wandering through a shroud of mist, unable to see your own hand in front of your face. We want you to feel equally excited and creeped out, letting your imagination run wild and get the best of you."
Tracklisting:
“Black Magic”
“Black Unicorn”
“Beyond The Astral”
“As We Fall”
“Upon The Mountain”
“Slow Death”
“The Seers”
“The Plague”
“Forsaken”
“The Eldest Tree”

DESTROYERS OF ALL Release “Death Healer” Lyric VideoPortuguese prog-death metallers, Destroyers Of All, will release their first full-length, Bleak Fragments, on March 18th through the newly founded Mosher Records. A lyric video for the track “Death Healer” can be found below.
Recorded at Golden Jack Studios Coimbra, the follow up to critically acclaimed EP Into The Fire (2013) features ten songs packed with mad riffs, virtuoso lead work, intricate dynamics that will catch you off-guard and a dark vocal delivery that ties together this complex gem.
On working with producer Joao Dourado, the band stated: “He knows us better that anyone else, and mainly, he knows our sound and how we want to mould it, and that makes it all easier to work with.”
Regarding the album concept, vocalist Joao Mateus says: “The main focus is the real world, it is what inspires us. Each song has it's own identity, it's own history and concept. They may not have a direct link or sequence, but they only make sense when coming together on our record.”
The band reached out to indonesian artist Silencer8 (As I Lay Dying, Kylesa, Caliban, Suicide Silence) for the album cover. “It was awesome to see he was extremely interested in working with us”, the band reveals. “So we passed on the themes our music gravites around and some pre-productions of Bleak Fragments,” the result is an impressive piece of art, as intricate as the music itself.
Tracklisting:
“From Ashes Reborn”
“Hollow Words”
“Hate Through Violence”
“Bleak Fragments”
“Death Healer”
“Unexistence”
“The Pain That Feeds”
“Speed Of Mind”
“Tormento”
“Day Of Reckoning”
“Death Healer” lyric video:
Destroyers Of All will promote the new album with live gigs starting in 2016, and the band has the intention to expand their touring schedule beyond the national borders. Bleak Fragments will have worldwide distribution and will also be available through the usual digital marketplaces and streaming platforms. Pre-orders will be available soon through the Mosher website.

DREAM DEATH To Release Dissemination Album March; Artwork, Tracklisting RevealedSomewhere in the darkest depths of Pittsburgh, Dream Death have risen from their self-imposed grave.
After making their full-length debut in 1987 with the groundbreaking doom/death/thrash masterstroke Journey Into Mystery - an album that somehow bridged the groaning gaps between Celtic Frost, Slayer and Saint Vitus while going on to influence many a notable death metal and death/doom faction - the vastly under-appreciated band pulled their own plug in '89 and formed the more traditional doom outfit Penance. The latter's 1992 album The Road Less Travelled was one of the earliest Rise Above releases, while Dream Death began what would prove to be a 22-year hibernation. In 2011, vocalist/guitarist Brian Lawrence, drummer Mike Smail (formerly of both Pentagram and Cathedral), bassist Richard Freund and guitarist Terry Weston regrouped and eventually stormed the studio for Dream Death's 2013 comeback album, Somnium Excessum.
The band's third and latest, Dissemination, marks the return of The Road Less Travelled lineup to Rise Above, this time in their resurgent Dream Death incarnation. Forged in the dank recesses of Lawrence's basement, Dissemination is the apogee of a creative process that recaptured and reinforced the singular spirit of Dream Death's late '80s triumphs. "While I'm proud of the material on Somnium, I think there was some experimentation there that could have been reigned in a bit," Lawrence offers. "The tracks on Dissemination are much more focused and delivered with intent."
The opening title track was the first song written for Dissemination, and ultimately formed the basis for one of the album's lyrical themes. "Mike had the title before we ever had a song," Lawrence explains. "He wanted something to express the idea of people blindly accepting the crap that's dished out to them on a daily basis and how little ability they have to change it even if they were aware of it in the first place. You think you're in control of your life? Guess again."
Elsewhere, "Expendable Blood Flow" opens with a nod to a certain classic horror score before descending into a gloriously moaning riff while "Nothing Ever Will" is very loosely based upon Russian novelist and naval engineer Yegeny Zamyatin's dystopian 1924 novel, We. "The song deals in some ways with the 'unheard voice' being crushed by the masses," Lawrence explains.
The album's other main theme is mortality, as perhaps best exemplified by closer "In Perpetuum," which was written shortly after Lawrence's mother passed away. "The theme of death can be very clichéd in this genre but I've attempted to take a mature, personal view on this subject," he says. "In some ways I feel that I'm always running from my own mortality. On this album I've looked my enemy in the eyes and met him head-on."
Head-on just happens to be the best way to experience Dissemination. Not to mention loudly and often. Dissemination is set for a March 4th release via Rise Above Records.
Dissemination tracklisting:
“Dissemination”
“Expendable Blood Flow”
“Crawling”
“The Cold Hard Light”
“All in Vain Start”
“Dominion”
“The Other Side”
“Nothing Ever Will”
“Neutral Ground”
“In Perpetuum”

TEXTURES Release “Illuminate The Trail” Track VideoDutch poly-rhythmic metal maniacs Textures will release the first of their upcoming two albums, Phenotype, on February 5th via Nuclear Blast. The second record of the musical diptych, Genotype, will be released one year later. Today, the band have released another song from the forthcoming record. “Illuminate The Trail” is streaming below:
The band recently released a playthrough video of the first single from Phenotype, entitled “New Horizons”. The sextet offer modern metal at its finest and have done so for over a decade now. No fashionable compromises, no 'fast food music'. “New Horizons” stands for the last five years the band has faced and above all the future of Textures. It’s an honest, catchy and boisterous metal track longing to be played at steaming festival grounds.
“New Horizons” playthrough video:
Check out the lyric video for ”New Horizons" below:
The new virtuosos Uri Dijk (synth) and Joe Tal (guitar) deliver a new, harmonic vibe to the mature Textures sound. Genotype, which will be released a year later - is a 45-minute long conceptual track. The root material, Phenotype consists of, is presented in this song, but in a totally different context. Textures go out-of-the-box. More proggy, more atmosphere and lots of extra layers to fill the last gaps left in this extensive, double rollercoaster ride.
In support of Phenotype, Textures will hit the European stages in February 2016.

KETZER Streaming New Song “When Milk Runs Dry”Germany’s Ketzer will release their brand new album, Starless, on January, 29th via Metal Blade Records. The album track “When Milk Runs Dry” can now be heard streaming below. Check out a landing page, including a pre-order section, where exclusive bundles are available. Starless will be available on CD, LP and through all digital outlets.
In the summer of 2015, Ketzer entered the studio for the first time in four years. After two months of intense work the band finished recording it's third album - Starless.
"It is just now that we are realizing what we have done during this summer: We recorded an album which is very free from any boundaries and pre-conceived notions that you can find ever so often within the genre of heavy metal. From sounds of raging fury, to the echoes of calm and cleansing waves - Starless is an album that will take you on a journey that is unexpected, yet familiar at the same time. Starless is going to explore the crack between religion and reality. Is there a truth in between? Centuries ago, humankind looked up into the star filled night skies, questioning the universe and their lives within it. In order to find answers, mythology was born. But religion and myths cannot connect to the world we live in today. They have blinded the night skies - hence, we have become "starless". Join us to sing songs of the universe and play tunes of the spheres!"
Starless tracklisting:
“Starless”
“When Milk Runs Dry”
“Godface”
“Count To Ten”
“The Hunger”
“White Eyes”
“Shaman's Dance”
“Silence And Sound”
“Earthborn”

Britain's LOST IN THOUGHT Re-Sign With IntromentalIntromental are welcoming back British prog-act, Lost In Thought. After being disbanded for nearly three years, Lost In Thought have reformed, refreshed and refocused.
Consisting of two original founding members David Grey and Nate Loosemore, the band has now brought in some new blood, Bradley Ratcliffe and Josh Heard.
Lost In Thought originally formed in late 2007. The line up was then completed in 2010 which consisted of David Grey, Nate Loosemore, Greg Baker, Simon Pike and Chris Billingham.
In 2011, after teaming up with Intromental Management, Lost In Thought released their debut album Opus Arise with Inner Wound Recordings. Opus Arise, mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe), instantly made a broad impression within the progressive music scene.
In mid 2015, each original member of the band was contacted about the possibility of reforming the band. After many conversations and due to varying commitments and reasons, Greg, Simon and Chris were unable to be a part of Lost In Thought's new lease of life. Although saddened by this, David and Nate were still keen with the concept of reforming Lost In Thought and decided to get in the studio and write a track to see what would develop from the process and so “A New Life” was born.
“We were so excited about the way the track was sounding and the maturity within the sound that we instantly knew, reforming and starting a new chapter for Lost In Thought, had to happen. We really feel that the music will speak for itself.”
Now, with Brad and Josh onboard, the band have been in the studio for several weeks and the writing process is well underway for Lost In Thought's second album.
Lineup:
Nathan Loosemore: Vocals
David Grey: Guitars
Josh Heard: Bass
Bradley Ratcliffe: Drums
