DREAM THEATER

DREAM THEATER's JORDAN RUDESS Pays Musical Tribute To DAVID BOWIE (Video)

DREAM THEATER keyboardist Jordan Rudess has paid tribute to David Bowie, who died on Sunday, two days after his 69th birthday.

Said Rudess: "Here is my musical tribute to the iconic David Bowie, who, thanks to my friend Tony Visconti, I had the great experience to work with back in 2002 on the 'Heathen' album. Here is his classic song, 'Space Oddity', played in my home just this morning (January 11th) after hearing the very sad news."

Bowie died just three days after releasing his 25th studio album, "Blackstar".

The singer, songwriter, actor and fashion icon reportedly kept his 18-month battle with cancer so private that even close friends weren't aware of his struggle.

DESTRUCTION Pays Tribute To LEMMY With 'Ace Of Spades' Performance (Video)

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION paid tribute to iconic MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister by playing the MOTÖRHEAD classic "Ace Of Spades" during their January 9 concert at Club Citta in Kawasaki, Japan. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

DESTRUCTION's 30th-anniversary album, "Spiritual Genocide", was released on November 23, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Day Of Reckoning" was recorded at Gernhart Studios in Troisdorf, Germany with engineer Martin Buchwalter and was mixed by Andy Classen. The album featured guest appearances by Thomas "Angelripper" Such (SODOM), Andreas "Gerre" Geremia (TANKARD) and Ol Drake (EVILE). In addition, the "Mad Butcher"/"Release From Agony" lineup of DESTRUCTION — featuring guitarist Harry Wilkens and drummer Oliver Kaiser — reunited for one song.

Lemmy's January 9 memorial service was broadcast live on YouTube and was watched by more than 280,000 MOTÖRHEAD fans around the world.

Lemmy, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve, was told two days later that he had an aggressive form of cancer. Two days after that, he passed away at his home in L.A.

MOTÖRHEAD (and Lemmy) were legends in the eyes of metal and punk fans and performers, and he was especially beloved for his take-no-prisoners rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

KETZER Streaming New Song “When Milk Runs Dry”

KETZER Streaming New Song “When Milk Runs Dry”

Germany’s Ketzer will release their brand new album, Starless, on January, 29th via Metal Blade Records. The album track “When Milk Runs Dry” can now be heard streaming below. Check out a landing page, including a pre-order section, where exclusive bundles are available. Starless will be available on CD, LP and through all digital outlets.

In the summer of 2015, Ketzer entered the studio for the first time in four years. After two months of intense work the band finished recording it's third album - Starless.

"It is just now that we are realizing what we have done during this summer: We recorded an album which is very free from any boundaries and pre-conceived notions that you can find ever so often within the genre of heavy metal. From sounds of raging fury, to the echoes of calm and cleansing waves - Starless is an album that will take you on a journey that is unexpected, yet familiar at the same time. Starless is going to explore the crack between religion and reality. Is there a truth in between? Centuries ago, humankind looked up into the star filled night skies, questioning the universe and their lives within it. In order to find answers, mythology was born. But religion and myths cannot connect to the world we live in today. They have blinded the night skies - hence, we have become "starless". Join us to sing songs of the universe and play tunes of the spheres!"

To date, the band has played with metal legends such as DragonForce, Blitzkrieg, Jeff Scott Soto, Blaze, Doro, Rose Tattoo and Girlschool. In other bands, the members have toured with Saxon, Stryper, Hell and Kreator, and performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Sonisphere and Bloodstock.

Britain's LOST IN THOUGHT Re-Sign With Intromental

Britain's LOST IN THOUGHT Re-Sign With Intromental

Intromental are welcoming back British prog-act, Lost In Thought. After being disbanded for nearly three years, Lost In Thought have reformed, refreshed and refocused.

Consisting of two original founding members David Grey and Nate Loosemore, the band has now brought in some new blood, Bradley Ratcliffe and Josh Heard.

Lost In Thought originally formed in late 2007. The line up was then completed in 2010 which consisted of David Grey, Nate Loosemore, Greg Baker, Simon Pike and Chris Billingham.

In 2011, after teaming up with Intromental Management, Lost In Thought released their debut album Opus Arise with Inner Wound Recordings. Opus Arise, mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe), instantly made a broad impression within the progressive music scene.

In mid 2015, each original member of the band was contacted about the possibility of reforming the band. After many conversations and due to varying commitments and reasons, Greg, Simon and Chris were unable to be a part of Lost In Thought's new lease of life. Although saddened by this, David and Nate were still keen with the concept of reforming Lost In Thought and decided to get in the studio and write a track to see what would develop from the process and so “A New Life” was born.

“We were so excited about the way the track was sounding and the maturity within the sound that we instantly knew, reforming and starting a new chapter for Lost In Thought, had to happen. We really feel that the music will speak for itself.”

Now, with Brad and Josh onboard, the band have been in the studio for several weeks and the writing process is well underway for Lost In Thought's second album.

Lineup:

Nathan Loosemore: Vocals
David Grey: Guitars
Josh Heard: Bass
Bradley Ratcliffe: Drums

METAL ALLEGIANCE Feat. MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL Members: Video Of San Francisco Concert

METAL ALLEGIANCE Feat. MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL Members: Video Of San Francisco Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of METAL ALLEGIANCE, the all-star metal band consisting of a rotating cast of musicians, including members of MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, performing on January 10 at The Regency in San Francisco, California can be seen below.

METAL ALLEGIANCE's self-titled debut album was released on September 18, 2015 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Brought together by METAL ALLEGIANCE principal partner Mark Menghi, the project's original material came together from the creative minds of David Ellefson, Mike Portnoy, and Alex Skolnick, alongside Menghi. The four writers then reached out through their metal rolodexes to a diverse lineup of performers, each adding their own personal musical stamp to the collection of nine original songs.

In a recent interview with I Probably Hate Your Band, Menghi stated about the songwriting process for "Metal Allegiance": "We wrote the majority of the lyrics for the record. In particular, Dave Ellefson and I co-wrote a lot of the lyrics to the record. We based it off our personal experiences in life, some of the fucking crap we went through. For example, with 'Can’t Kill The Devil', he had two lines for that song: 'Can't kill the Devil, the Devil never dies.' And when he said that to me, I was, like, 'Just stop right there,' and an hour later, I came back with all the lyrics for the song. And I basically told a tale, I told a story about the Devil. We all have a Devil in our life. I told a story about my Devil and combined it with his."

The standard edition CD of "Metal Allegiance" features nine original songs. A digipak edition was made available that features an all-star tribute to Ronnie James Dio with a cover of his classic song "We Rock" as well as a 45-minute behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the album. A double vinyl version was also made available that features all 10 songs as well.

OZZY OSBOURNE, NIKKI SIXX, SLASH, GENE SIMMONS, COREY TAYLOR Pay Tribute To DAVID BOWIE

OZZY OSBOURNE, NIKKI SIXX, SLASH, GENE SIMMONS, COREY TAYLOR Pay Tribute To DAVID BOWIE

Ozzy Osbourne (BLACK SABBATH), Nikki Sixx (MÖTLEY CRÜE), Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT), Krist Novoselic (NIRVANA), Slash (GUNS N' ROSES), Gene Simmons (KISS) and Brian May (QUEEN) are among the rock musicians and scores of other artists who reacted on social media to the passing of David Bowie, who died on Sunday, two days after his 69th birthday.

Bowie died just three days after releasing his 25th studio album, "Blackstar".

The singer, songwriter, actor and fashion icon reportedly kept his 18-month battle with cancer so private that even close friends weren't aware of his struggle.

Belgian theatre director Ivo van Hove, who worked with David on the "Lazarus" Broadway production, told DutchNews that Bowie told him he had liver cancer, because he needed him to know he would be too sick to attend rehearsals. "He said that because he knew that he may not always be able to be around," Ivo van Hove told DutchNews.

"Bowie was still writing on his deathbed, you could say," Ivo told the site. "I saw a man fighting. He fought like a lion and kept working like a lion through it all. I had incredible respect for that."

Just a month before his death, David attended the premiere of "Lazarus" in New York City in what turned out to be one of his last public appearances.

PRIMAL FEAR:

PRIMAL FEAR: 'Rulebreaker' Title Track Available For Streaming

"Rulebreaker", the title track of the new album from German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. Due on January 29 via Frontiers Music Srl, the effort will be made available in CD, deluxe CD/DVD and — in collaboration with Soulfood Music in Germany — on vinyl and a special super-limited vinyl edition featuring an eagle head on the vinyl.

"Rulebreaker" combines the strongest PRIMAL FEAR moments ever, with a well-balanced typical PRIMAL FEAR trademark riff vibe, crushing songs and some very ambitious musical journeys.

PRIMAL FEAR recently parted ways with Brazilian drummer Aquiles Priester (HANGAR, ANGRA) and replaced him with Francesco Jovino (U.D.O.). In addition, founding PRIMAL FEAR guitarist Tom Naumann — who has been touring with the group for the past couple of years years — has now officially rejoined the band as a full member. Singer Ralf Scheepers says: "We have so much energy, fantastic melodies and a hell of a drum groove on each and every song. There is no doubt that the fans will love it as much as I do! And again we have achieved to combine bombastic and atmospheric orchestral sounds with soaring heavy metal riffs and licks, together with ear-splitting screams and also emotional sequences. We have kept the promise of being a heavy metal band with all the trademarks for which people love PRIMAL FEAR." After the massive "Delivering The Black" world tour, PRIMAL FEAR started the songwriting in spring 2015 and recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark, with producer/bassist Mat Sinner and engineer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, PRETTY MAIDS, AMARANTHE). Mat Sinner adds: "We learned a lot during the 'Delivering The Black' sessions and the following world tour. We tried to put this know-how and all the positive energy into the songs and production of 'Rulebreaker'. Working the second time with Jacob Hansen and even recording in his studio, gave another dimension to our sound, plus the recording comeback of founding member Tom Naumann was the right move." Classic and ultra-fresh PRIMAL FEAR have created riff-rockers like the album opener "Angels Of Mercy", and groove monsters "The End Is Near" and "Bullets And Tears", which hit the bulls-eye from the beginning. The album features another untamed speed killer "In Metal We Trust" and the metal anthem and title track "Rulebreaker". The melodic and unique ballad "The Sky Is Burning" shows a different side of PRIMAL FEAR with a new vibe and a monster chorus. And of course, PRIMAL FEAR included again an 11-minute plus prog metal tour de force entitled "We Walk Without Fear", spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs. DREAM THEATER: Official

DREAM THEATER: Official 'The Astonishing' Album Trailer

DREAM THEATER's thirteenth album, "The Astonishing", will be released on January 29 via Roadrunner. The band has launched a mini-site for the CD, a full-blown rock-opera concept album focusing on various "characters" and spread over two "acts."

The official trailer for "The Astonishing" is available below.

DREAM THEATER had been working on the follow-up to 2013's self-titled album since January at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, New York.

Asked what prompted the idea to make "The Astonishing" a rock-opera concept album so elaborate, with a full, detailed storyline, DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci told RollingStone.com: "The idea to do a concept album as a band felt right. The last one we did [1999's 'Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory'] was about 15 years ago, and it really felt like we were in a good place to do this. I knew that what needed to happen, first and foremost, is that we had to have a story to base this on, because the idea of basing an album off of a loose concept or something that was sort of arbitrary, that didn't interest me at all. I wanted this not only to be a concept album, but really to write a full show. And to have all the elements in place, the story needs to drive that. We needed to have the storyline, a plot, places, characters, maps — you name it. So that started about two and a half years ago; it took about a year for me to get that story done and ready to present to the guys. And I wanted to write from a place that was familiar to me, so I knew that music had to play a role in the story somehow. I'm a huge fan of the sci-fi and fantasy genres, so I had a pretty good idea of where I wanted to go. But it was a matter of really diving into it and working on it, revising and revising again, and working on it every day until I had something solid."

Petrucci also talked in more detail about the songwriting process for "The Atonishing". He said: "Because of the sheer volume of music — you're talking, when all's said and done, probably two hours, 10 minutes' worth of music — every step of this has been a huge process. I don't think I've had time to do anything else over the last year or so [laughs]! In order to do this right, I had to be really, really organized about it. Jordan [Rudess, keyboards] and I wrote the music as really a prog-metal score to the story. We didn't sit down and say, 'Let's write a song, here's the first chorus, whatever.' We would go through the story and say, "What's happening here, where is it taking place?" We had to make sure the mythology was right, the timeline was right. And that carried through on every level. When it came to presenting the orchestration to [veteran conductor and orchestrator] David Campbell and getting him involved; when it came to writing the lyrics, and then me having to go through it song by song, character by character; even things like the artwork, creating the map and all those different towns and cities and roads — every sort of level and layer took a lot of organization and focus."

MOTÖRHEAD

MOTÖRHEAD's PHIL CAMPBELL Explains Absence From LEMMY's Funeral

MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell says that he was unable to attend Lemmy's funeral because he was advised by doctors not to fly.

Many MOTÖRHEAD fans were wondering why Campbell was a no-show at Lemmy's Hollywood funeral, which was attended by such notable rock and rollers as Dave Grohl, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash and METALLICA members Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo Ozzy Osbourne, Dee Snider and Gene Simmons.

In a series of tweets, Campbell explained that he was under doctor's orders not to make the trip from the U.K. He said: "Amazing service for Lem the other day, everyone there spoke beautifully. I really wanted to attend but I wasn't able to make it. Unfortunately, I was advised on doctor's orders not to fly on such a long haul flight due to my recent hospitalisation. I'm doing well though and I managed to watch the whole service via the online stream, so thanks to the MOTÖRHEAD team for organising that."

MOTÖRHEAD had to reschedule three European shows late last year after Campbell was taken to hospital with an undisclosed health problem.

Lemmy's memorial service was broadcast live on YouTube and was watched by more than 280,000 MOTÖRHEAD fans around the world.

Lemmy, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve, was told two days later that he had an aggressive form of cancer. Two days after that, he passed away at his home in L.A.MOTÖRHEAD (and Lemmy) were legends in the eyes of metal and punk fans and performers, and he was especially beloved for his take-no-prisoners rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

GRAHAM BONNET BAND:

GRAHAM BONNET BAND: 'My Kingdom Come' Song Available For Streaming

GRAHAM BONNET BAND's song "My Kingdom Come", from the group's current EP of the same name (available on iTunes), can be streamed below. The track was written by none other than Russ Ballard, who previously collaborated with Graham on such hit singles as RAINBOW's "Since You've Been Gone" and on Graham's solo album "Line-up" from 1981. This collaboration marked the first time the two have worked together since 1990 (FORCEFIELD's "Let The Wild Run Free").

Currently making preparations for a February tour in the U.K., the GRAHAM BONNET BAND is a four-piece hard rock outfit led by Graham Bonnet, the former singer of RAINBOW, ALCATRAZZ, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and IMPELLITTERI. The lineup is rounded out by guitarist extraordinaire Conrado Pesinato, bassist Beth-Ami Heavenstone and former FATES WARNING and WARLORD drummer Mark Zonder. During the upcoming tour, the band will showcase many acclaimed songs spanning Bonnet's illustrious career, plus new compositions from the band’s forthcoming, as-yet-untitled studio album. Bonnet says: "It has been a while since I last released a full-length album, but this band is the perfect group of musicians to do just that.

"We are very excited about working with the great folks at Frontiers for our first 'GRAHAM BONNET BAND record. We look forward to a productive and exciting 2016!" GRAHAM BONNET BAND's new album, which will be made available later in the year via Frontiers Music Srl, will also include a bonus disc of brand new recordings of classic songs from the Graham Bonnet repertoire.

Graham Bonnet's authorized biography, titled "Graham Bonnet: The Story Behind The Shades", is tentatively due in early 2016.

ROB ZOMBIE:

ROB ZOMBIE: 'The Electric Warlock Acid Witch' Release Date, Track Listing Revealed

Rob Zombie's new album, "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", will be released on April 29 via UMe/T-Boy Records. The CD was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris and features Zombie alongside guitarist John 5, bassist Piggy D and drummer Ginger Fish.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. The Last Of The Demons Defeated02. Satanic Cyanide! The Killer Rocks On!03. The Life And Times Of A Teenage Rock God04. Well, Everybody's Fucking In A U.F.O.05. A Hearse Overturns With The Coffin Bursting Open06. The Hideous Exhibitions Of A Dedicated Gore Whore07. Medication For The Melancholy08. In The Age Of The Consecrated Vampire We All Get High09. Super-Doom-Hex-Gloom Part One10. In The Bone Pile11. Get Your Boots On! That's The End Of Rock And Roll12. Wurdalak

Rob Zombie spoke to Louder Noise about why he has held back the release of his new album even though the record was completed months ago. Zombie said: "It'll probably come out in [the spring], because what I wanna do is I wanna do a very large visual component to go with the record — shoot thirteen videos, or shoot a movie go with it. And because of [Zombie's upcoming sixth live-action feature film, a horror thriller called] '31', I couldn't get to that yet. So I'm gonna do that probably in January, so we'll put it out soon after that."

He continued: "I love it. I mean, I really like the record. The last record was my favorite record in a long time. 'Cause I had kind of hit a low with making records. It just kind of got boring; I hated being in the studio, and I kind of got reinspired on the last record. And this sort of follows up on it. So I think that, much like '31'… You just have those things in your career where you're, like, they all can't be the best one. With records, sometimes you have those moments where you can tell, 'This one's special.' And that's how it feels."

Zombie told Loudwire that the follow-up to 2013's "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" was recorded over the course of a year, with the band working for a few weeks, taking a break for a few months, then coming back. He said, "We were living with it for a long time, and it really — I think it made the record so much better."

Although Rob spends a lot of time making movies, he told The Pulse Of Radio a while back he's not ready to quit music yet. He said: "People go, 'How long can you do this, how long do you want to do this?' I want to do it as long as it's fun, because that's what it's supposed to be. I mean, I don't need the money, so I don't have to drag my ass out on tour just to make money. I'm all good there, so if it's not fun, it's nothing, it's just stupid, you know. And when you're not having fun, you're not gonna do good work. You're gonna seem like a miserable guy who's just doing it for the money, and I just never wanted to do that."

Worldwide Petition Launched To Rename Jack & Coke As "A LEMMY"

In honour of fallen Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister, who died on December 28th, 2015 due to a form of aggressive cancer, a petition has been launched via Change.org to rename the classic drink Jack & Coke - Lemmy's drink of choice - as "a Lemmy". How much weight a move like this actually has is anybody's guess, but at press time 17,766 signatures had been collected and 7,234 were need to make it official.

To add your signature to the list go to this location

On Saturday, January 9th, the world will come together and celebrate the life Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister.

Family and close friends will observe a service at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Hollywood, commencing at 3 PM, PST and ending at 4:30 PM. With such limited space available on-site, Motörhead respectfully ask that you don’t attend the cemetery… but they want you all to be a part of this, so they are setting up a live feed of the service via the internet on Motörhead’s official YouTube channel.

Says Motörhead: “So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch the service with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. Go to your favourite bar, or your favourite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home. “ATTN!!! Due to the overwhelming and supportive response to Lemmy's memorial we are now using the entire Strip to compensate for overflow. The Rainbow will close from 5 until 9 PM for a private service, however the Roxy and Whisky will remain open to accommodate those looking to show their respects during this time.”

Watch the Rainbow's official Facebook page here for updates.

Lemmy Kilmister died on December 28th at the age of 70 following a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Motörhead manager Todd Singerman revealed to Sky News that Lemmy went to the hospital two days after his birthday bash at LA’s Whisky A Go Go on December 13th because he wasn’t feeling well. Tests were done, and doctors discovered he had terminal cancer which had spread to his brain.

Singerman told Sky News, "Nobody had any idea, we just learned Saturday, two days ago, that he even had cancer and the doctor told him he had between two to six months to live. He goes today as I was making calls to Phil and Mikkey telling them to come on out so they could have a last goodbye while he was still upbeat and everything. He was feeling mighty low... He wasn't expected to die like that.

"He gets home (from tour), we have a big birthday party for him at the Whisky A Go Go. His friends came down and played. Two days later I could tell he wasn't feeling good so we took him to the hospital, they release him, then after the brain scan they found the cancer in his brain and his neck... The doctor comes with the result a couple of days later and says... it's terminal."

Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee told Sweden’s Expressen: ”Motörhead is over, of course. Lemmy was Motörhead. But the band will live on in the memories of many. We won’t be doing any more tours or anything. And there won’t be any more records. But the brand survives, and Lemmy lives on in the hearts of everyone.”

GRAHAM BONNET BAND To Film Documentary On U.K. Tour

GRAHAM BONNET BAND To Film Documentary On U.K. Tour

Canada's The Metal Voice will film a documentary diary on the GRAHAM BONNET BAND's U.K. tour. Titled "All Day And Night Long", the documentary will be shot starting on January 22 at the band's warm-up gig at this year's NAMM convention in Southern California and ending on February 2. The Metal Voice producer Jimmy Kay stated: "We are very excited to work with legendary singer Graham Bonnet and his team.

"The video will be a first-person account, including the fanatic fans, the encounters, the interactions, the hotels, the behind the scenes and the joy of playing live." GRAHAM BONNET BAND's "The Mirror Lies" video can be seen below. The song is taken from the group's two-song single titled "My Kingdom Come", which came out last summer. The single's title track was written by none other than Russ Ballard, who previously collaborated with Graham on such hit singles as RAINBOW's "Since You've Been Gone" and on Graham's solo album "Line-up" from 1981.

Bonnet said: "It has been a while since I last released a full-length album, but this band is the perfect group of musicians to do just that.

TOBY KNAPP Releases Rare DARKEN And ONWARD Projects

TOBY KNAPP Releases Rare DARKEN And ONWARD Projects

Guitarist Toby Knapp recently revisited his ‘90s black metal roots. Knapp compiled and remastered all material recorded by his little known mid-nineties band Darken. A full-length CD to be released by his own label, Spectral Evidence Entertainment, in conjunction with Sumthinfierce Records will be available by February. Knapp commented on the significance and reasoning behind the forthcoming Darken compilation Black Metal Grimorium.

"Darken had a very successful demo in the mid-nineties called Reign From Funeral Thrones and this recording quickly started a series of events that still are in effect with me today." The guitarist continues "That demo landed us a recording contract with Defiled Records immediately and the continual unfolding of events from that point on led to the formation of Onward and a situation where Century Media contacted me, wanting my band, I was oblivious to the label and just went with the flow. It was all a shock to me. When Onward were finished I immediately wanted back on track with my Darken project, but things had changed and Darken could not exist, which led to the idea for my one man band Waxen." "Finally" Knapp concludes, "Waxen signed with Moribund Records and the work continues to this day. On this Darken compilation Onward fans will recognize lots of black metal riffing that was transformed into music used for albums like Reawaken. Darken was the big bang in my musical universe that continues to expand. Plus the material sounds great and needs to be heard properly.”

Tracklisting:

“Reign From Funeral Thrones”
“Eternal Winters”
“Autonomous Closing Of Time”
“Lurking Past The Stars”
“Shadows Dark Embrace”
“Enthroned By Night”
“Under The Blood Stained Moon”
“Sorrow’s Season”
“The Necromantic Bell”
“A Mournful Chorus”

In November, Knapp released the live Onward DVD Live Magick consisting of four shows filmed by fans during the band's heyday in the early 2000's. Access to the Darken CD and Onward DVD can be found via Knapp's website. Knapp has also been busy contributing to projects from bands such as Italy's Abhor, Fetid Zombie from the US in addition to wrapping up work on a third Waxen album slated for a 2016 release through Moribund Records.

Video: SLIPKNOT, SEPULTURA, Ex-SLAYER Members Join METAL ALLEGIANCE On Stage In West Hollywood

Video: SLIPKNOT, SEPULTURA, Ex-SLAYER Members Join METAL ALLEGIANCE On Stage In West Hollywood

Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT), Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA), Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), John Tempesta (WHITE ZOMBIE, THE CULT) and Mikkey Dee (MOTÖRHEAD) joined METAL ALLEGIANCE, the all-star metal band consisting of a rotating cast of musicians, including members of MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, on stage last night (Saturday, January 9) at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Video footage of the concert can be seen below (courtesy of California Rock News).

MAGNUM: Teaser For

MAGNUM: Teaser For 'Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies' Album

British melodic rock icons MAGNUM will release their new album, "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies", on February 26 via Steamhammer/SPV as a digipak version (including a DVD), 2LP colored version, CD and as a digital download.

A teaser for "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies", featuring the song "Don`t Grow Up", is available below.

For a musician like Tony Clarkin who composes constantly, viewing and selecting the material he has written is always one of the most significant moments during the creation process of a new MAGNUM album. On the one hand, it's a luxury to have the opportunity to separate the wheat from the chaff and to be in a position to use only the strongest numbers. On the other hand, it's also a difficult process, because after all the creator of those songs has grown fond of every single one of them. "I usually start composing for our next album immediately after the release of the previous one," Clarkin explains. "When 'Escape From The Shadow Garden' arrived at the stores in March 2014, my thoughts had already turned to our next recording." Clarkin wrote 25 new songs during the subsequent months, the most promising 13 of which were selected for "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies". Ten of those tracks made it onto the new album, the other three onto the included bonus CD. "It would have been too much of a shame to disregard them," Clarkin reckons, "particularly since our fans want to know after every release what happened to the rest of the material. This time they're getting it in addition to the album tracks." The ten numbers on the regular album present MAGNUM from their most rocking side again. The epicentre of this soundquake features, along with frontman Bob Catley's charismatic voice, Clarkin's awesome riff and lead guitar which provides the all-important substructure to the songs. Courtesy of his driving style, "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies" counts without a doubt among the group's most dynamic releases. Clarkin: "I've always been into rock numbers. But it isn't necessarily that easy to write really good rock material. It's much more simple to compose a ballad. But that dynamic pace suits MAGNUM perfectly." Clarkin is referring mainly to the title track and opener of the new album. "I feel that Bob delivered it really well," Clarkin praises his vocalist Bob Catley. "As far as I am concerned, 'Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies' is definitely likely to join the ranks of great MAGNUM classics." So it comes as no surprise that "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies" with its significant message became the album title. Of course, there are more highlights on this thoroughly powerful recording. Clarkin was inspired to write the anthemnic "Gypsy Queen" at a concert in St. Petersburg, a city which deeply impressed him with its unique atmosphere. By no means less memorable is "Your Dreams Won't Die", which is based on a piano chord sequence and could lead you to believe that MAGNUM have put to music their own band philosophy. "To me, the title and lyrics have an almost religious depth," says Clarkin. "There's a saying that somebody is not forgotten if their name is remembered." A successful rock group like MAGNUM should be entitled to eternal renown, shouldn't it? Says Clarkin: "You want my honest opinion? I don't think that far ahead, but of course it's a nice notion that this band may always be remembered because so many people love our music." And last but not least: "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies" closes with a song which surprised even Clarkin. "I liked the general sound of 'Don't Cry Baby' from the start," he remarks. "Although I initially didn't have a lyric, the melody kept going through my head, as well as the chorus with acoustic and e-guitars plus piano. We even kept the drums from the demo version because our drummer Harry James liked them so much. He said: 'I love it the way it is. We shouldn't change a thing about it.'" "Sacred Blood 'Divine' Lies" once again features a fantastic cover by Rodney Matthews.

FAST EDDIE CLARKE Explains Absence From LEMMY's Funeral, Posts Tribute - "The Message Got Across About The Great Man"

FAST EDDIE CLARKE Explains Absence From LEMMY's Funeral, Posts Tribute - "The Message Got Across About The Great Man"

Former Motörhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke commented on his absence from Lemmy's funeral this past Saturday, January 9th via a post on his Facebook page. It reads as follows:

"I have been a bit quiet lately. I was unable to get a visa to go to Lemmy's funeral. I have past sins, which means it takes longer for me to get a visa and with being Christmas, there wasn't enough time...

I watched it online last night. I thought everyone did very well.

Todd did an amazing job as compere. I thought his son Paul spoke magnificently and Mikkey Dee followed up well. It all reminded me of what a great man Lemmy was and how much he lived for his music and Motörhead and the fans. It was great to see the picture of the old band with Phil in the middle. They were great days and I miss them both.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. It was very sad but the message got across about the great man.

Rest In Peace, my old friend."

On January 9th, the world came together to celebrate the life of Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Hollywood, California.

With almost almost 300,000 watching on YouTube and millions more thinking about a man that changed the face of heavy metal. And what a face … an image. An icon. Kinda like James Dean … but for us metalheads, much more of presence in life. Manager Todd Singerman led the ceremony: “Man, I hate using these words in past tense!”

He proceeded to pass the mic to Lemmy’s son Paul: “He had a feeling something was wrong in August. We will know the pain he was in … all of his years he was a stage warrior. Having moved mount everest, the show would go on. He wasn’t just a musician and songwriter … he was a figurehead. He set the bar. It was about keeping it real. Performing was everything to him. He was Lemmy all the time. He wasn’t a poseur. He paid his his dues. Motörhead’s last album was a struggle … it never revealed his frailed health. Born to lose, live to win. He wasn’t religious, but he was profoundly spiritual. He never tolerated anybody talking over music … especially his! Music wasn’t a background to him. Nobody on this earth posed his brand of of humour. He was 100% real. I won the lottery when I got Lemmy. You were perfect. You are on the road to the great great gig in the sky.”

The elite of heavy metal praised the man, the legend, the icon.

Guns N' Roses Slash: “Lemmy was somebody that I feel blessed to be friends with. He was such a a fucking great example of what my peers wanted to be. More integrity than anybody. 100 loyal. All these fine attributes. When I got sober he was so disappointed when I didn’t greet him with a flask of Jack Daniels!”

Judas Priest's Rob Halford: “Over the years we’ve had some amazing times. We always looked forward to seeing the lads! When I was in the the presence of lord Lemmy. I was overwhelmed! As we know, the music lives forever!”

Anthrax' Scott Ian : “Elvis you taught us how to dress, how to look. It was Carl Perkins and Little Richard how to sound. And it was The Beatles who taught us we could to write our own songs. And Lemmy it was you who taught us that we could be fucking real.”

Metallica's Lars Ulrich: “I lived and breathed every note they sang! Lemmy was so hospitable and the ultimate party host. I’ve always cited Motorhead and Lemmy as in the inspiration and the primary reason Metallica exists musically and attitude wise. So thank you Lemmy for shaping who I am today.

Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl: “There is not enough time to tell you what Lemmy meant to me. He’s my person … he’s the one that bridged my love of ACDC and Sabbath and Zeppelin … and my love with GBH, the Ramones and Black Flag.

Lemmy Kilmister died on December 28th at the age of 70 following a brief battle with an aggressive cancer.

IRON MAIDEN

IRON MAIDEN's BRUCE DICKINSON To Launch New Limited-Edition Beer

According to the International Business Times, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson will launch a new limited-edition beer at the end of this year. The as-yet-unnamed beer will be "somewhere between a stout and a porter" and will be devised by Dickinson in a joint venture partnership between the band and Robinsons, a privately owned Cheshire brewery.

"This isn't a cash grab. This isn't about making millions of pounds from beer. This is about making a quality product that corroborates the band's position as a great British export and a very proud British institution," Dave Shack, managing director of Phantom Music Management, which takes care of IRON MAIDEN, said.

Launched in May 2013, MAIDEN's original Trooper has proved to be a global success story. The premium British beer is now being exported to 42 countries and has already been awarded a gold medal by the British Bottler's Institute. Trooper has proved unusually resilient overseas for a new beer, maintaining its stunning initial export success with repeated high volume orders across some of the world's leading importers.

IRON MAIDEN's latest album, "The Book Of Souls", was released on September 4, 2015 through BMG in the U.S.A. (Parlophone Records in the rest of world).

IRON MAIDEN announced in May 2015 that touring plans to support the album wouldn't happen until 2016 to allow Dickinson time to fully recuperate after his successful cancer treatment.

DEVILMENT Reveal Song Titles From New Album

Witch County jailed lunatics Devilment are nearing completion of the follow-up to 2014's The Great And Secret Show with their as-yet untitled second album.

Tracks include: "Shine On Sophie Moone", "Life (Is What You Keep From The Reaper)", "Hitchcock Blonde", "JudasStein", "Hell At My Back" and "Plot Spoiler: There Will Be Monsters".

The band (four of their kind pictured above at rehearsal) enter the studio within the month to begin tracking the pots and pans.

Earlier this year, guitarist Colin Parks commented, "Right time to finish writing this album, everyone has worked hard on this and it shows. Head down and time for some serious graft. Can not wait to get this album to you guys, it's gonna be a belter. The chains are off on this outing, if you liked the first album... You ain't seen nothing yet!"

Devilment, fronted by Cradle Of Filth vocalist Dani Filth, released their debut album, The Great And Secret Show, in 2014 via Nuclear Blast. It spawned videos for "Even Your Blood Group Rejects Me", and "Sanity Hits A (Perfect) Zero"; both of which can be enjoyed below.
