JUDAS PRIEST Is 'Looking At Feasible Opportunities' Following Cancelation Of OZZY OSBOURNE Tour

JUDAS PRIEST Is 'Looking At Feasible Opportunities' Following Cancelation Of OZZY OSBOURNE Tour

JUDAS PRIEST is "looking at feasible opportunities" following the cancelation of the band's European tour with Ozzy Osbourne.

The trek, originally set for 2019 and then rescheduled three times, was officially scrapped this week because of a spinal injury Osbourne suffered four years ago and other health problems. The tour was scheduled to begin in Helsinki, Finland, on May 3, and include gigs in Nottingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and London, before finishing in Ozzy's original hometown of Birmingham on June 14.

On Wednesday (February 1),JUDAS PRIEST released the following statement via social media: "We send all our love and support for Ozzy and thank our fans in the UK and Ireland especially for your loyalty by standing with us..... Right now we're looking at feasible opportunities to see each other again soon and will post update's accordingly".

Four years ago, shortly after JUDAS PRIEST's European tour with Ozzy was postponed for the first time when he was admitted to the hospital due to complications from the flu, PRIEST singer Rob Halford was asked by Australia's Heavy if Osbourne's health scare made him question his own mortality. At the time, Rob said: "We love Ozzy to death. Oh my God! When you say 'Ozzy,' your head is full of this remarkable man's career and all the wonderful things he's done for rock and roll, for metal. He's touched so many millions of people's lives, and we're really, really happy that he's recovering.

"Life is life. And you do what you can to deal with the adversity that puts itself in your path. We're going through that with Glenn [Tipton, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist]. Let me just rephrase that — Glenn's going through that himself with his great battle against Parkinson's [disease] that he's dealing with. And he's a wonderful example — a really, really strong, powerful example — of somebody that's fighting back and pushing back and still living an active life with this challenge.

"Glenn comes out and joins us when he can. He's still an active, full member of JUDAS PRIEST. If he's not able to make [any of the shows], he's with us in spirit, in the songs that he's written, and he's up on the big screen.

"So, yeah, it is what it is. We're all getting on. But we're absolutely determined to keep going and live our lives in metal and share it with our fans."

The members of PRIEST have dealt with various health setbacks in recent years. Halford publicly revealed that he battled prostate cancer during the pandemic. He previously mentioned his cancer battle in the new chapter added to the updated paperback edition of his autobiography, "Confess". In "Confess", Halford revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer after experiencing symptoms for at least a couple of years.

Faulkner suffered an acute cardiac aortic dissection during the band's performance at the Louder Than Life festival in September 2021. Faulkner was rushed to the UofL Health - Jewish Hospital where the cardiothoracic surgery team needed approximately 10 hours to complete a life-saving surgery.

Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease ninie years ago — after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier — but announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of PRIEST's latest album, "Firepower". He was replaced by "Firepower" producer Andy Sneap, who is also known for his work in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.

We send all our love and support for Ozzy and thank our fans in the UK and Ireland especially for your loyalty by standing with us.....

UFO's PHIL MOGG Is 'Not Quite There Yet' In His Post-Heart Attack Recovery

UFO's PHIL MOGG Is 'Not Quite There Yet' In His Post-Heart Attack Recovery

UFO frontman Phil Mogg is still recovering from the heart attack he suffered more than five months ago. The 74-year-old British-born musician was rushed to the hospital in late August where he had two stents implanted into his coronary arteries. This is known medically as a coronary angioplasty and aims to re-open the blocked coronary artery by inserting one or more stents. This helps keep the narrowed artery open.

On Wednesday (February 1),the UFO social media channels shared the following update from Mogg: "Dear all, I have been asked for an update on my rematch with Mike Tyson. I'm not quite there yet, but making inroads to the peak of my former powers, whilst studying the magical charms of Shanky's Whipp made in Ireland (where else!). Rehab exercise has finished, the doc has signed me off, and I have been yodelling at Brighton Electric Studios and finishing up some tunes for a Moggish album - an eccentric collection of songs that will be in my spring collection and which will put some lead in your pencil. Ho Ho!

"I would like to most sincerely thank everyone for their kind get well messages, they have worked a treat, Thumbs up emoji.

"All the very best to you all, Phil x"

He also made a reference to the photo featuring several bottles of whiskey, rum and tequila which was included with the post, saying: "PS I would like to make it quite clear that I'm not endorsing excessive alcohol use of any kind!"

UFO's farewell tour was scheduled to kick off on October 15, 2022 at the De Casino in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and run through a final show at the Fuzz Club in Athens, Greece on October 29, 2022.

When the news of Mogg's heart attack was first made public, UFO said in a statement: "On Thursday September 1st, 2022 — after having performed several detailed examinations in the past days — the doctors pronounced a strict performance ban for Mogg until further notice. This is why the entire Last Orders farewell tour, which was supposed to lead across Europe from October 15 to 29, 2022 before ending in Athens, had to be cancelled.

"If and when the tour or — at the very least — individual shows can be made up for, is currently completely unclear and will depend on Mogg's recovery, among other things. His rehabilitation therapy will be starting in about six weeks. According to the doctors, it is not yet possible to give any concrete statements about the duration and scope of the treatment."

In 2021, UFO announced that it would embark on its final tour featuring a series of exclusive concerts in summer 2022 to bid farewell to its fans in style. UFO was scheduled to play the very last concert of in Athens, where the band performed its first show featuring current guitarist Vinnie Moore in February 2004.

When UFO's final concert was first announced, Mogg was anticipating this very special farewell show with mixed feelings, while also very much looking forward to UFO once again meeting their extensive fan base between summer and autumn 2022.

Mogg, who turned 74 in April 2022, said: "After so many years with countless highlights, fantastic experiences and lots of beautiful memories — as well as some difficult moments, naturally — it'll be a worthy finale to say goodbye to your fans in person. I know that there are bound to be some very emotional moments on both sides."

In his original statement announcing UFO's final tour, Mogg said the decision was "a long time coming," adding that while "being out on the road isn't always tremendously luxurious and although the playing is as great as it ever was, the stuff that surrounds it becomes very tiresome. I always told myself that when I reached that stage, I would step down, and that's what I'm going to do. This is the right time for me to quit."

UFO guitarist/keyboard player Paul Raymond died in April 2019. He appeared on more than a dozen of UFO's albums, including "Lights Out" and the live classic "Strangers In The Night".

UFO's current lineup includes original members Mogg and drummer Andy Parker, as well as Moore, who joined in 2003, and Rob De Luca (bass),a member since 2012.

UFO's latest release was the 2017 covers collection "The Salentino Cuts".

THUNDERMOTHER Loses Singer, Drummer And Bassist; New Lineup Announced

THUNDERMOTHER Loses Singer, Drummer And Bassist; New Lineup Announced

Acclaimed Swedish all-girl act THUNDERMOTHER has imploded following the departure of singer Guernica Mancini. Guitarist Filippa Nässil has announced her decision to continue with a new THUNDERMOTHER lineup featuring singer Linnéa Vikström (THERION, AT THE MOVIES) and bassist Majsan Lindberg, while Mancini, drummer Emlee Johansson and bassist Mona Lindgren will form a new band together.

Late Thursday night (February 2),Nässil released the following statement via social media: "The last year has been full of adventures, new impressions and we have made memories that will last forever. Unfortunately our journey ends in the constellation known to you until today and a new chapter will be written for THUNDERMOTHER with both old familiar and new faces and for sure a lot more adventures and memories to come.

"After seven years of being together, we unfortunately came to the decision that our paths lead in different directions. Guernica, Mona and Emlee will focus on their own careers and I wish them nothing but the best of luck.

"I am thrilled to announce that our bass player Majsan who left for studies 1,5 years ago has finished and will rejoin!

"I am happy to announce that THUNDERMOTHER could win Linnéa Vikström (THERION, AT THE MOVIES) with her incredible power, her extraordinary voice and her charming manners as a new singer for THUNDERMOTHER!

"We are beyond excited and looking forward to the future filled with a new positive energy and with these girls by my side the future is going to fucking rock.

"Let's show the world that there is so much female talent out there and let's give the girls a heart-melting warm welcome to THUNDERMOTHER! Rock must live on!"

Guernica, Emlee and Mona also released a joint statement regarding their departures from THUNDERMOTHER. "It's with a heavy heart that we are writing this," they said. "Filippa has made the decision that Guernica's time in THUNDERMOTHER is over. Because of this, and the lack of agreement regarding the decision-making process in the band, Emlee and Mona have decided to leave THUNDERMOTHER.

"Filippa will continue with a new THUNDERMOTHER lineup. Guernica, Emlee and Mona will continue playing music together and are forming a new band.

"To all the people who have been a part of this journey; Guernica, Emlee and Mona want to say thank you for the support, we love you all. We are so grateful for everything that we've experienced with THUNDERMOTHER, and hope you all will support our separate journeys.

"We understand how hard it is to read this. This is by far one of the toughest situations we've had to go through and right now we are mourning the loss of a big part of our lives. We humbly ask you to be kind and respectful. Thank you for your understanding."

Following the release of their latest album, "Black And Gold", last summer and countless live shows alongside an extensive tour with iconic SCORPIONS in North America last fall, THUNDERMOTHER recently announced plans to team up with SCORPIONS for more European live dates, as well as headline gigs on the "Black And Gold" tour 2023. It is not clear if any of those shows will be affected by the latest lineup changes.

"Black And Gold" was recorded at Baggpipe Studios in Stockholm, and was mixed and mastered by Søren Andersen at Medley Studios in Copenhagen.

Last November, Mancini released her first solo single "Inception" via Golden Robot Records.

GODSMACK's SULLY ERNA: TAYLOR HAWKINS 'Would Want' FOO FIGHTERS To Continue

GODSMACK's SULLY ERNA: TAYLOR HAWKINS 'Would Want' FOO FIGHTERS To Continue

In a new interview with Shannon Hernandez, a.k.a. The Shan Man, of 98KUPD, Arizona's Real Rock radio station, GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna reflected on his friendship with FOO FIGHTERS and the recent passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I became friends with Taylor and Dave [Grohl, FOO FIGHTERS frontman and former NIRVANA drummer] a while back. When I first met them, they're just such a warm group of guys. Their whole camp, their whole team, everyone that works for them, they're just a very welcoming committee. When you're invited to be a guest at their show, they treat you very, very well. They're just very grounded, humble, simple people that have a great heart and care genuinely about everybody. So it was very easy to become friends with them.

"What can I say that people haven't said about Taylor already? He was one of the greatest guys out there. He was an incredible drummer. [He had] just a big, giant heart. All of 'em. They're just real special people."

When asked if he ever had a chance to jam with FOO FIGHTERS, Sully said: "Yeah. I did a song with them at Fenway Park. When they came to Boston, they played Fenway. I jumped up on stage and did 'School's Out' with the band, which was really cool and fun. That was when Dave was in a cast still [after falling off stage]. But, yeah, it was cool.

"They're just great guys," Sully continued. "I can't say enough about them. I've grown to love them over the years. I still stay in touch with Dave. Every now and then, we connect and just say hi and see how they're doing and getting through all the stuff [after Taylor's death] and whatever. And it's been extremely difficult for them, obviously, but they're handling it the best they can and mourning in their own way. And I think they'll make a comeback. Music is in that guy's [Dave] blood. I know Taylor would want them to do that. And I don't think Dave can stay away from music, even though I feel that he was feeling defeated at times."

Erna added: "These are big blows. I mean, he lost Kurt [Cobain, NIRVANA frontman], and then he lost Taylor, and you start to question whether you wanna do this anymore. But when you're that kind of level musician and that kind of artist and you do it as well as you do at that level, it eventually comes back and it will remind you of who you are and what you're supposed to be."

Hawkins was found dead last March at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel in Bogota.

An official cause of death for Hawkins hasn't yet been released. But one day after his death, Colombia's attorney general's office released a preliminary toxicology report, saying that medical examiners found evidence of 10 types of substances in Hawkins's body, including opioids, benzodiazepines, marijuana and antidepressants.

Hawkins joined FOO FIGHTERS in 1997. Prior to that, he played with the Orange County band SYLVIA and was also in the backing band for Sass Jordan. He also toured with Alanis Morissette as her drummer.

Hawkins was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last year as a member of the FOO FIGHTERS.

Hawkins's most recent work with FOO FIGHTERS included last year's "Medicine At Midnight" album, a collection of BEE GEES covers and FOO FIGHTERS' horror film "Studio 666".

Ex-METALLICA Bassist JASON NEWSTED Is Putting Together A 'Heavy' New Project

Ex-METALLICA Bassist JASON NEWSTED Is Putting Together A 'Heavy' New Project

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted recently stopped by Gator 98.7 FM's Gator Garage for a VIP performance and question-and-answer session with the radio station's Jason and Franny. Asked what musical projects he is currently working on, Jason said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Actually, I spent six months of last year putting together THE CHOPHOUSE BAND 'Volume 1'. THE CHOPHOUSE BAND has been together [and] making music since 1992. So it was our first album after 30 years. I spent a lot of time on that. And then, once I got that under my belt, I'm kind of stepping back into the heavy now. So the last couple of weeks I've been auditioning guitar players for a heavy project. I'm back on bass and singing with a metal drummer — double bass, you know; getting' loud again. So I've got a couple of irons in the fire. I'm putting two new projects together right now — but loud."

Last April, Newsted told Gator 98.7 FM that he was "not playing any acoustic guitar" with THE CHOPHOUSE BAND "anymore — it's just Les Pauls and SGs and stuff now. Some of it's a little quieter but most of it's not," he said.

Elaborating on the musical direction of the new THE CHOPHOUSE BAND material, Jason said: "THE CHOPHOUSE BAND started out as almost a bluegrass-tinged thing, and now it gets to some places that are as heavy as anything else that I'd been involved with — VOIVOD, Ozzy [Osbourne], METALLICA, NEWSTED band; any of that stuff — it gets to those places now."

Adding that he "loves" singing, Newsted said: "Now since the last time anybody saw THE CHOPHOUSE BAND, we have a vocal group within the band. Now there are four singers in the band. So I can actually really concentrate on playing the guitar and then singing that background stuff. And there's screaming and some [growling] also. So I still haven't lost that. And it lets people know that there's still one foot in that place. You can take the boy out of the metal [but] you can't take the metal out of the boy; it's just the way it's always gonna be. So I'm excited for people to be able to witness what we have been working so hard at. I put a lot — a lot — of energy into these new songs."

Newsted also revealed that THE CHOPHOUSE BAND was planning to record its debut album. Asked if he would release the LP himself, Jason replied "yes" before clarifying, "Actually, it's possible — very possible — that I'll be back into the Q Prime fold [METALLICA's longtime management company] with that kind of backing, like a real-deal thing."

Named after Jason's four recording studio facilities around the U.S. and featuring a fluid roster of players, THE CHOPHOUSE BAND began in 1992 when Newsted founded The Chophouse Records Studio in San Francisco.

THE CHOPHOUSE BAND is led by Newsted, playing guitar and performing lead vocal, accompanied by
close friends/musicians of all walks and styles.

Jason previously told the Palm Beach Florida Weekly about THE CHOPHOUSE BAND: "We all get along great because there's not money involved. They've got their own bands, their own families, their own gigs. We do benefit gigs, six a year, and that's it. I record and write and play songs the whole rest of the time. They could all run circles around me musical theory-wise. They could tell you everything they're playing, and all the relating chords. I surround myself with the badasses, and they make me look really good. I'm playing cowboy chords the whole time, and they're doing their fancy shit to make me look good. I just concentrate on singing, and getting across the things I want people to hear."

Jason left METALLICA back in 2001, but was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and the man who replaced him, bassist Robert Trujillo, in 2009.

Nine years ago, Jason shelved NEWSTED, the heavy metal project he operated between 2012 and 2014, saying that it cost him "an awful lot of money — hundreds of thousands of dollars." He added: "I couldn't continue because the business is such a harsh thing now and so different than what I had known."

REO SPEEDWAGON Announces New Keyboardist

REO SPEEDWAGON Announces New Keyboardist

REO SPEEDWAGON has recruited Derek Hilland as the replacement for keyboardist and founding member Neal Doughty, who left the band last month.

On Thursday (February 2),REO SPEEDWAGON singer Kevin Cronin released the following statement via social media: "Hi friends, those of you who have caught any of our 2023 shows may have noticed a new face behind the keyboards.

"As most of you know, our brother and co-founding member Neal Doughty concluded that fifty-five years on the road was enough, and is home in Minneapolis enjoying this time with his wife and family. We, on the other hand, are in hotel rooms in Asheville, NC, awaiting our show at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort tomorrow night.

"So, I will take a moment here to introduce Derek Hilland. Coincidentally Neal and Derek met several years ago when Derek was playing in IRON BUTTERFLY. After that show, Neal approached the young keyboardist and complimented his playing; Derek has never forgotten that encounter.

"Since his stint with IRON BUTTERFLY, Derek has toured with WHITESNAKE and FOREIGNER, and most recently spent fifteen years in Rick Springfield's band.

"When I contacted my old buddy Rick for a reference, he said of Derek, 'He is the sweetest, most gifted fucking keyboard player since Keith Emerson, a great harmony singer, and a really decent human.' And Rick was right.

"Derek is a bit younger than the rest of us, (who isn't),grew up listening to REO SPEEDWAGON, and is a long-time fan of Neal's keyboard work. He is a perfect fit, and fits right in with our band vibe.

"So, once again REO SPEEDWAGON survives a major personnel change, and keeps on rolling.

"While Neal is certainly irreplaceable, Derek is an extremely gifted keyboardist and a fine singer, who brings renewed enthusiasm to our band. We will carry on, continue to raise the bar musically, and have fun in the process.

"We hope to see you at our upcoming shows in Orlando and Clearwater, with our friends Levon next week, and a big night in San Juan, Puerto Rico next Saturday, with NIGHT RANGER as our special guest.

"Onward and upward, with love."

When Doughty announced his departure from REO SPEEDWAGON, he said in a statement that "it was all that traveling that finally got to me." The 76-year-old added: "I always enjoyed playing the shows and looking out to see all the loyal fans who allowed me to do this for so long."

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by Cronin since 1972, REO SPEEDWAGON's unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. Platinum albums and radio staples soon followed, setting the stage for the release of the band's explosive "Hi Infidelity" in 1980, which contained the massive hit singles "Keep On Loving You" and "Take It On the Run". That landmark album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the RIAA's coveted diamond award for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States.

From 1977 to 1989, REO SPEEDWAGON released nine consecutive albums all certified platinum or higher. REO SPEEDWAGON has sold more than 40 million albums around the globe, and Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass),Neal Doughty (keyboards),Dave Amato (guitar),and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert with hits and fan-favorites such as "Ridin' The Storm Out", "Can't Fight This Feeling", "Time For Me To Fly", "Roll With The Changes", "Keep On Loving You", "Take It On the Run" and many, many more.

REO SPEEDWAGON remained busy throughout the pandemic before the band was able to return to the road. Beginning in April 2020, Cronin began a series of webisodes from his home titled "Songs & Stories From Camp Cronin". Consisting of anecdotes and acoustic performances from him and his family, the series posted 24 episodes. Cronin and members of REO gave back over the past 16 months by participating in charity events for St. Jude Children's Hospital, Marilou and Mark Hamill's USC McMorrow Neighborhood Academic Initiative, John Oates's "Oates Song Fest", "Stars To The Rescue," Acoustic-4-A-Cure, and more. Additionally, while Cronin began keeping a journal of the band's 2016 U.K. tour, he never stopped writing and recently submitted what turned out to be his life story, as well as his telling of REO SPEEDWAGON's history. He says, "Putting out an autobiography is risky. Once it's out there's nowhere to hide!"

KORN Releases 'Requiem Mass' EP

KORN Releases 'Requiem Mass' EP

A day ahead of the first anniversary of KORN's latest album, "Requiem", the band has released a new five-song EP.

A year ago today, KORN delivered one of the most unique performances of its career — a livestreamed 300-person intimate ceremony and epic performance at the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California honoring souls that had passed, especially those lost during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Now, music from that evening is being officially released for the first time as the "Requiem Mass" EP, featuring five highlights from the performance. Simultaneously, the band is sharing performance footage that was originally live streamed from the event on YouTube. The EP is available now via Loma Vista Recordings on streaming, digital, limited edition vinyl, and 2xCD deluxe edition packaged with the original "Requiem" album.

"Requiem Mass" track listing:

01. Start The Healing
02. Lost In The Grandeur
03. Hopeless and Beaten
04. Worst Is On Its Way
05. Let The Dark Do The Rest

"Requiem", which was produced by Chris Collier and KORN, entered Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart at No. 1. The band sold 23,000 equivalent album units in the February 4-10 tracking week, according to Billboard. Of that sum, 20,000 units were from album sales. "Requiem" also landed at No. 2 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts. On the all-format Billboard 200, it arrived at No. 14.

KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu announced in June 2021 that he would sit out the band's touring activities in order to "heal" after "falling back" on some of his "bad habits." He is being temporarily replaced by Roberto "Ra" Díaz (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).

Despite the fact that he hasn't performed with his KORN bandmates for nearly two years, Fieldy did play on "Requiem".

DORO PESCH Is Continuing Work On New Solo Album (Photos)

DORO PESCH Is Continuing Work On New Solo Album (Photos)

German metal queen Doro Pesch recently spent time at Miami Beach Recording Studios laying down vocal tracks for her upcoming studio album.

Earlier today (Friday, February 3),Doro shared a few photos from inside and outside the studio, including a couple of her sitting behind the wheel of a RAM truck. She captioned the pictures: "Here I RAM in Miami, doing more vocals for the new album!

"Wish that ride was mine, but it's the studio owner's. Thanks, Pablo, I'm soooo jealous".

Last October, Doro spoke to Metal Rules about the status of the songwriting and recording sessions for the follow-up to her 2018 double album "Forever Warriors, Forever United". She said: "The new record is almost done. It's like 80 percent done, and there are awesome songs. There are anthems, fast songs, and some really soulful songs. So, I think that 80 percent of the record is already done. I mean, 80 percent of the songwriting is done, and we have recorded lots of stuff. It will be out sometime later [in 2023]."

Asked if her new album will be stylistically similar to "Forever Warriors, Forever United", she said: "Yeah, but it's probably not a double album. The next year is my 40th anniversary as an artist. And, of course, we want to do something special, but it will be a single album."

"Forever Warriors, Forever United" featured 19 regular tracks and six bonus songs.

In September, Doro released a very unique single — a soulful adaptation of her classic metal anthem "Raise Your Fist In The Air". The track was made possible by the new ZDF (national German TV channel) music show "Music Impossible".

In May 2022, Doro told Sleaze Roxx that she does most of her songwriting now with former SISTERS OF MERCY guitarist Andreas Bruhn. "I met him, I think, in 1986," she said. "We've always worked good together. Actually, the new bass player we have in Europe, we wrote a new killer song together so that's a new friendship. It's an anthem. It's good! And I wrote one song with my very first producer from the 'Hellbound' album. We met up again and wrote a nice song together. It's a song for the animals because I love animals. It's called 'Heavenly Creatures'. That will definitely be on the new record I'm planning on putting out next year. Next year, I have my 40th year anniversary so we want to celebrate it big."

In celebration of 35 years of the "Triumph And Agony" album from her former band WARLOCK, Doro released "Triumph And Agony Live" in various formats, including CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD, Blu-ray, and a huge box set, in September 2021 through her own label, Rare Diamonds Productions. The "Triumph And Agony" artwork centered on Geoffrey Gillespie's famous original drawing of the "Warlock" embracing the blonde rock star.

RILEY'S L.A GUNS To Release 'Rewind' Single

RILEY'S L.A GUNS To Release 'Rewind' Single

RILEY'S L.A. GUNS will release a new single, "Rewind", digitally via Golden Robot Records. The track is taken from the band's upcoming sophomore album, "The Dark Horse", tentatively due mid-2023.

"Rewind' tackles the complex relationship lulls surrounding infidelity. "[It] is about how something so sweet can turn so sour," says RILEY'S L.A. GUNS bassist Kelly Nickels.

It's a tale as old as time: finding someone really special and becoming involved, then, as time passes, you learn they are cheating on you and stringing you along with lies. The feeling of frustration sinks in as you realize you have to end it and wish you could go back and "rewind" and make different decisions.

Golden Robot Global Entertainment founder and CEO Mark Alexander-Erber said: "As expected, another blistering assault by RILEY'S L.A. GUNS. I cannot wait for the world to hear their second album — it will definitely set them apart from all others."

To accompany "Rewind", RILEY'S L.A. GUNS will release a limited-edition bundle series of vinyls. With each single leading up to the release of "The Dark Horse", RILEY'S L.A. GUNS are putting out a limited-edition bundle, with bundle No. 2 out for pre-order today. Each bundle will include a limited-edition red seven-inch vinyl and a different-colored 12-inch of the upcoming album, with bundle No. 2 12-inch being a red and black splatter.

Last October, RILEY'S L.A. GUNS released a single called "Overdrive".

RILEY'S L.A. GUNS drummer Steve Riley said: "We are so excited about this second album from the band, 'The Dark Horse', and we feel we really took it up a notch with the songwriting, performances, and production after our well-received first album 'Renegades'. This first single, 'Overdrive', is a balls-out rocker and a great way to open this new album. We know you guys are going to love it, and we can't wait to see you out on the road in 2023!"

In April 2021, an out-of-court resolution was reached in the legal dispute over the rights to the L.A. GUNS name. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, guitarist Tracii Guns and singer Phil Lewis are continuing to operate under the L.A. GUNS trademark, while Steve Riley and his bandmates from the other version of L.A. GUNS are now operating under the new name RILEY'S L.A. GUNS.

RILEY'S L.A. GUNS features Riley alongside Orlando, Florida-based guitarist/vocalist Kurt Frohlich, bassist Kelly Nickels (a member of L.A. GUNS' "classic" incarnation) and guitarist Scott Griffin, who played bass for L.A. GUNS from 2007 until 2009, and then again from 2011 to 2014.

In January 2020, Riley was sued by Lewis and Guns in California District Court. Joining Riley as defendants in the case were the three musicians who performed in his rival version of L.A. GUNS; that group's manager, booking agent and merchandiser; and Golden Robot Records. The complaint, which requested a trial by jury, alleged that Riley's version of L.A. GUNS (referred to in the case docket as "the infringing L.A. GUNS") was creating "unfair competition" through its unauthorized usage of the L.A. GUNS trademark. In addition, Guns and Lewis were seeking relief from and/or against false advertising, breach of contract and unauthorized usage of their likenesses.

In May 2021, Guns discussed the resolution in an interview with The SDR Show. He said: "We ended up settling in a way where, basically, [Steve] licenses the words L.A. GUNS for free; I'm not even asking for a percentage of when he plays. I'm just saying, 'Hey, I could have taken your house. I could have taken anything you own. But I don't want you to die in the street, and I don't want you to be poor.' And I really love his son, Cole. It just got to the point with all this litigation…

"I live in Denmark half the time, so when we did this thing called a mediation, that mediation started at 11 p.m. Denmark time, and it was nine hours," he continued. "And I just had a baby. And my wife and my baby were in the bedroom, and I'm in the living room, and this is our first apartment there, which is, like, 72 square meters — it's tiny. And I'm up, and I'm doing this mediation. And finally, it just got to the point where [we were] just going back and forth, and I'm, like, 'How can I easily make it just make sense?' 'Cause in the end, they had no argument. 'Well, I'm in L.A. GUNS.' That was the argument. No, you're not — you're not in L.A. GUNS. You were hired by me. The bass player guy was hired by me. And it's as simple as that. But if you wanna pretend that you came up with the name or you formed the band or it was your musical vision or that you even wrote one fucking song, you can go live in that fantasy, as long as it doesn't infringe on my business."

In a separate interview with Sonic Perspectives, Guns addressed the fact that Riley's version of L.A. GUNS played at the M3 Rock Festival in 2019 and released a full-length album under the L.A. GUNS name, 2020's "Renegades". He said: "Dude, when they did those couple of shows, we got so much angry e-mail from our fans. People were, like, 'What the fuck? None of you guys were there!' We would have to explain it's a different band with the same name. When I say a lot, I'm talking over a thousand e-mails. Then they put out a record using the name L.A. GUNS, [and] the e-mails just escalated. That was the point where some from our family stepped who had unlimited funds, which we used to stop this. It was what we needed to do, and it is done. Can you imagine, now they have to make up their legal fees? In what reality is it worth it? For Steve Riley to spend $80,000, and they will never make that back with RILEY'S L.A. GUNS. There is no logic, and it's so bizarre."
