See TRIVIUM's MATT HEAFY Play Acoustic Cover Of OZZY OSBOURNE's 'Crazy Train'

TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy has shared his acoustic cover of OZZY OSBOURNE's classic track "Crazy Train". Filmed and streamed from four separate angles on his Twitch channel, Heafy's stripped-down rendition can be seen below.

The cover, requested by Twitch user FyrstaCS, is part of a series Heafy calls KiichiChaosKaraoke in which his fans "choose a song for me to learn," explains Matt, "timing down the pick by 5 minutes — auction-style. Once picked, the song has to be learned and performed in its entirety — immediately — no matter how long it takes."

Over the past couple of years, Heafy has tried his hand at a variety of unexpected and unlikely tracks, such as BACKSTREET BOYS' "I Want It That Way", *NSYNC's "Tearin' Up My Heart", Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" and Britney Spears's "…Baby One More Time". He has also covered tunes by SLIPKNOT, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, RADIOHEAD and LINKIN PARK, among many others.

TRIVIUM is currently working on the follow-up to 2017's "The Sin And The Sentence" album for a 2020 release.

SEVENDUST's CLINT LOWERY: KORN 'Probably' Saved My Life

In a brand new interview with Inquisitr, SEVENDUST's Clint Lowery recalled hitting the road in 2007 with KORN as the latter band's backing/session guitarist. It was during that run that Lowery was arrested at the Hodokvas festival in Piestany, Slovakia following what was described at the time as a "wild drunken night" that resulted in the guitarist trashing his room.

"Those guys ended up ultimately probably saving my life by sending me home," Lowery said. "I was getting arrested, I was binge drinking, I had a lot of personal issues going on. So some of those things, like say when I got arrested in Slovakia, it doesn't seem real. It doesn't seem like I'm the same person. And I'm not. Looking back again, it's one of those things where I'm kind of glad it happened because it just needed to happen to pull my life together. I had that white flag up, surrendering."

Lowery went on to say that there's "a tremendous amount of poetic justice" to the fact that he was filling in for a guy who left KORN to get his life together and ultimately ended up being sent home by the band in order to do the same.

A day following Lowery's arrest, he was released from police custody after apologizing and paying for the damages. At the time, he released a statement explaining that he was "being a lil' rowdy and loud" in his hotel and acknowledging that he "pulled some Rock 101 stuff." He added that he was "not proud of it at all" and claimed that the entire episode was "scary enough" to where he knew he would never be doing anything like that "ever again."

Lowery made his debut with KORN on March 1, 2007 when the band made an appearance on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno".

Clint will release his debut solo album, "God Bless The Renegades", on January 31, 2020 via Rise Records.

HANSI KÜRSCH Expects Next BLIND GUARDIAN Studio Album To Be Complete By Fall 2020

Kyle McGinn of Dead Rhetoric recently conducted an interview with frontman Hansi Kürsch of German power metal veterans BLIND GUARDIAN. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

Dead Rhetoric: This [BLIND GUARDIAN's new all-orchestral album, "Twilight Orchestra: Legacy Of The Dark Lands"] was done for over a 20-year span. What sort of feeling does it finally coming out give you?

Hansi: "I'm relieved, and I'm just happy that we have come to the point where everyone involved — it's ready for people to listen to it. I'm overwhelmed still by the amount of work, but I'm more than just proud to have accomplished it and having the chance to give it to the people. That people will have a chance to listen to it — that's a relief! Over the years, we've been talking about that so many times. We've had to describe what it would sound like, and what it would be about, musically. I could literally see the question marks over the heads of people who never really understood what we were trying to say. If you haven't listened to it, it's very difficult to get an idea of what we are talking about. But once you have listened to it, you just figure, 'It makes sense, what the guys have spoken about for twenty years now.'"

Dead Rhetoric: There's obviously no metal band in the background but how do you feel that the "Twilight Orchestra" differs from the traditional BLIND GUARDIAN experience outside of that?

Hansi: "It does a lot of storytelling, and I believe that is what BLIND GUARDIAN is standing for as well. Now we have a combined conceptual album, but even if each BLIND GUARDIAN album isn't always a concept album, you still have these narrative aspects on each of them. This might be defined a little bit stronger on this album, but it shouldn't be different than what we have been doing since 'Nightfall In Middle Earth', at least. I believe the exploration of musical territories, not just because of using the classical instruments, but also in the way that we treated them — and sometimes abused them. They were supposed to do things that they would not normally do in a traditional orchestral arrangement. Some of them go into a metal direction, some go into a more jazzy direction and the orchestra had to play this in a classical way and capture these elements as well. That differs from what we do in BLIND GUARDIAN. Also, my singing might be a bit more elaborated in terms of dynamics and the way that I express myself. Other than that, it's certainly in the tradition of BLIND GUARDIAN."

Dead Rhetoric: So, do you feel that some of the songs could be translated in such a way that you could play them live with BLIND GUARDIAN?

Hansi: "Yes [laughs], that is very likely and very possible. We've had a few discussions about this during the creation process and production process. At the very end, we decided that the original intention was to be without using a metal band, but of course, we discussed using a metal band to make it more understandable for people to see what the album was about. But we didn't feel the necessity. The second step, after everyone had an idea about the original intention — it could be doable, but what we realized is that once we go into such a direction, the whole thing needs to be rearranged. We need to create space for the band, which means the orchestra as to take a step back. It also means that the orchestra has to be recorded again and rearranged. It would be very difficult, though it is doable. Though it's very unlikely that we are going to do this within the next two years. I'd rather see this as the beginning of another BLIND GUARDIAN experience, and we will bring this to the stage at a later time. For now, we have just released the album and we will immediately start he production for a new heavy metal BLIND GUARDIAN album, for which we have already composed most of the songs. That's our mission for the next year and after that we will for sure come up with at least a few shows featuring 'Legacy Of The Dark Lands' in the classical orchestration garment in the way that it was originally intended to be performed."

Dead Rhetoric: What do you have planned for 2020? You've already mentioned the new BLIND GUARDIAN album.

Hansi: "There's a lot of production for BLIND GUARDIAN, that's for sure. I would think this will occupy most of the year. My ideal schedule looks like we will end up handing in the next BLIND GUARDIAN album to the record label in September or October at the very latest. What I have on the agenda for 2020 is the release of the next DEMONS & WIZARDS album. We did some touring over the summer and it was quite an impressive experience to bring DEMONS & WIZARDS to the stage in a real touring format for the first time and see how the people reacted. It was a very pleasant surprise. At the same time, when we had some off time, we finished the successor for 'Touched By The Crimson King', and it's a very intense metal album. It will be released in the beginning of next year. Jon [Schaffer, also of ICED EARTH] and I discussed if that there is a chance for us to free up a few spots to add DEMONS & WIZARDS shows, but that is up in the air. The album will be released in the first half of 2020 and this is something that people can really look out for. It's a very vivid, entertaining and classy album."

You can read the entire interview at this location.

"Twilight Orchestra: Legacy Of The Dark Lands" was released November 8 via Nuclear Blast.

To create the concept, lead guitarist André Olbrich and Kürsch worked alongside German bestselling author Markus Heitz, whose latest novel, "Die Dunklen Lande", was released on March 1. The book is set in 1629 and contains the prequel to "Legacy Of The Dark Lands".

Original AC/DC Singer DAVE EVANS: 'It Feels Fantastic' To Be One Of Five Founding Members Of The Band

Original AC/DC singer Dave Evans says it "feels fantastic" to be one of the five founding members of the band.

Dave recorded AC/DC's first two singles, "Can I Sit Next To You Girl" and "Baby Please Don't Go". But in October 1974, less than a year after AC/DC's first gig, Evans was out of the group.

During an appearance on Chile's Radio Zeta earlier this year, Evans was asked how it feels to know that he was once part of one of the most legendary bands in rock. He responded (see video below): "It feels great. It feels fantastic. It's amazing [to be] part of world rock history. There's been quite a lot of players through AC/DC — way over 20, sort of thing — but there's an exclusive club within those players: the five founding members of the band. There can only ever be five in that club, and I'm one of 'em. So, it's fantastic."

Evans also commented on AC/DC's most recent run of shows, which featured GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose on vocals instead of longtime singer Brian Johnson, who was forced to leave the trek due to a dangerous level of hearing loss.

"Axl has been very, very successful — we all know that," Dave said. "And anybody that's successful you must take your hat off to; you must give respect to anybody that's successful.

"I know fans were upset when Axl was singing with AC/DC. But the thing is Brian wasn't with the band anymore, for one reason or another, which I won't go into, and Angus [Young, AC/DC guitarist] wanted to finish the tour, so he called on his friend. That's all it was — he just called on his friend to fill in. And Axl said, 'Yeah, sure. Of course.' Who wouldn't? But fans got upset; they thought Axl had joined the band. But Axl never joined the band. He only helped out a friend. So AC/DC fans should know that — that he just helped out a friend, Angus. And it was Angus's call. Angus could have cut the tour, but Angus wanted to play. He needed a singer. He asked his friend Axl. He could have asked anybody. So the fans were upset for nothing, really, because he didn't join the band; he just helped out his friend Angus."

Earlier this month, Evans took to his Facebook page to shoot down rumors that he was hoping to come back to AC/DC, explaining that "the real essence of the band" died when founding rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young passed away in November 2017.

Dave wrote: "Despite reported rumours I have no interest in returning to AC/DC as the vocalist. As far as I am concerned Malcolm Young was the inspiration, the driving force and the musical genius of AC/DC since we first formed the band and in my opinion when he died the real essence of the band also died and could never be the same without him. I do however wish any new form of the band success."

Evans was replaced in 1974 by Bon Scott, who sang on AC/DC's first six studio albums and became a legend himself after his death in 1980.

VOIVOD Frontman On Winning JUNO AWARD For 'The Wake' Album: 'It Was Something Else'

VOIVOD frontman Denis "Snake" Belanger spoke to Metal Express Radio about being honored with a Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Award) in the "Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year" category. VOIVOD won the award for its latest album, "The Wake", which was released in September 2018 via Century Media Records. The disc was recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Recording Studio in Canada. The album's artwork was once again created by VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin.

Belanger described the experience of landing a Juno Award as "something else." He explained (hear audio below): "'Cause we're not used to those kind of reception and stuff like that. It was quite surprising, but in a sense, in the other way, I thought it was well deserved, because we've been doing it for 36 years now, and I think the whole industry in Canada wanted to recognize that effort over the years. And, of course, 'The Wake' album, they had no choice [but] to put us somewhere, because the reviews were so good and we had such a killer album that they had to do something. And also because of the career that we had, the long stretch of work, they wanted to give us a sign that [it wasn't going unnoticed]."

The rest of this year's "Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year" nominees were BEYOND CREATION ("Algorythm"; Season Of Mist), CANCER BATS ("The Spark That Moves"; New Damage), KEN MODE ("Loved"; New Damage) and KOBRA AND THE LOTUS ("Prevail II", Napalm).

Artists who released albums between September 1, 2017 and November 9, 2018 were eligible for nominations.

To be eligible for a Juno Award, musicians must be Canadian citizens. This is defined by CARAS as 50 percent or more of group members holding Canadian birth certificates, passports or are Canadian Permanent Resident(s) with residency in Canada during the last six months of the eligibility period.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Singer DANNY WORSNOP Releases New Single 'Another You'

ASKING ALEXANDRIA singer Danny Worsnop has released brand new single, "Another You". The track comes ahead of Danny's U.S. headline tour that kicks off on January 3 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Speaking on his latest, blues-laden song, Danny says: "Beyond excited to finally have this out. 'Another You' was the first song I recorded in my home studio when I finished building it... it might have even been before it was finished! But either way, it was a great sense of accomplishment, and it instantly became one of my favorite songs I'd ever written. Huge thanks to Denis Lesjak (Golds House Music) for writing an amazing instrumental bed and Austin Hull for the great job he did mixing and mastering."

Fans can catch Danny live throughout January 2020 on his "On Tour: The Tour" headline run across the U.S. with special guests STARBENDERS. Tickets are available from DannyWorsnop.net

"Another You" follows the release of Danny's solo album "Shades Of Blue", which arrived earlier this year to much critical acclaim.

Worsnop told Alternative Press about his solo project: "Don't go into it expecting it to be an ASKING ALEXANDRIA album. A lot of people compare the work I do with [WE ARE] HARLOT and the work I do as a solo artist with ASKING ALEXANDRIA. And they are totally different things. It'd be like watching Keanu Reeves and being, like, 'Well, that was nothing like 'The Matrix'. It's Keanu Reeves. It should have been 'The Matrix'."

"People are scared of creativity," Worsnop elaborated. "But it's only within this weird little subgenre where people have this elitist, closed-minded mindset where people can only do one thing. And in all of these genres, I find that artists are celebrated for trying new things and being adventurous, and for some reason, in the little rock community, it isn't [like that]."

ROB HALFORD On Possibility Of Former Members Performing With JUDAS PRIEST At ROCK HALL Induction: 'It's An Open Book'

In a new interview with Fox Sports 910's "Freak Nation", JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford was asked if fans can expect to see any of the former PRIEST members joining the band on stage during a hypothetical Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction next year. He responded (hear audio below): "With something like the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, there's a tinge of 'what if' [and] 'whatever,'" he responded (hear audio below). "It's an open book.

"I know what you're alluding to, and as I've had to [say] in the past, it's just a case of 'wait and see,'" he continued. "But it's a celebration, and it's 50 years of PRIEST, and, man, it's gonna be great. Should we get in, it's gonna be amazing."

After host Kenny Sargent brought up the original KISS lineup's controversial 2014 Rock Hall induction which was at least partly overshadowed by the musicians' decision not to perform, Halford said: "[PRIEST is] not the first band that this has happened to, and on the day, some things turn out the way a lot of people want 'em.

"I was thinking about this the other day," Halford added. "And this thing came into my head: 'Jim, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or of the one.' Spock [in] 'Star Trek'. When he goes in the radiation room. Isn't that great? … That's a t-shirt, or an inspirational card."

Bassist Ian Hill is the sole remaining original member of JUDAS PRIEST. Halford joined JUDAS PRIEST in 1973 and guitarist Glenn Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then returned to PRIEST in 2003. Founding guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Richie Faulkner.

Having been eligible for induction since 1999, JUDAS PRIEST was on the ballot for last year's class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but was ultimately left out of the inductee list.

This past October, it was announced that JUDAS PRIEST is among the nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's class of 2020. The top vote-getters will be announced in January and inducted May 2, 2020 at a ceremony at Cleveland's Public Hall.

Current members Halford, Hill, Tipton and drummer Scott Travis would be inducted along with Downing, Les Binks and late drummer Dave Holland.

Downing recently told Rockin' Metal Revival that there is a very good chance that he will perform with his former bandmates again if PRIEST gets the nod. "Oh, I think absolutely," he said. "I mean, why wouldn't you, really? It's a special thing. We're all of an age now. These opportunities only come once in a lifetime. And it seemingly takes a lifetime to get into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I've always said, there's no such thing as a young legend, right? [Laughs] So, while we're still here, it would be great to receive that accolade and put on a great performance and put that one to bed."

A month before the start of PRIEST's "Firepower" tour, Tipton bowed out due to the worsening of his Parkinson's disease, first diagnosed six years ago (after being stricken by the degenerative condition at least half a decade earlier). His spot in the band is being filled by "Firepower" album producer Andy Sneap.

Former AUTOGRAPH Guitarist STEVE LYNCH Launches PROJECT 2:22 With Nashville Recording Artist ALENA RAE

Metal Express Radio recently caught up with Autograph's founding guitarist Steve Lynch, who decided to leave the band in July 2019. He has since launched a new project, dubbed Project 2:22, with Nashville recording artist Alena Rae. Following is an excerpt from the interview.

MER: Was it difficult to say goodbye to old band members in Autograph? Do you think that there will be future collaboration?

Steve Lynch: "It was difficult because I have known Randy, the bassist since 1981 and the rest of the bandmates became like brothers to me as well. I’m on a completely new musical venture now, so I don’t foresee any future collaboration, but you never know for sure."

MER: When discussing the new music you are venturing into with Project 2:22, do you feel that you have more artistic freedom with this project?

Steve Lynch: "Yes, we are writing what we feel and that is total artistic freedom. Alena is the most amazing vocalist and can sing any style very well, therefore it is an open slate for whichever direction we wish to go in per song. We are rock edged but with a world music vibe, so it can go anywhere we wish musically."

Lynch was with Autograph from 1983 – 1989 and again from 2013 – 2019. Autograph is best known for their 1985 hit "Turn Up The Radio", taken from their 1984 debut album, Sign In Please.

MACHINE HEAD's New Drummer MATT ALSTON: Drum-Cam Footage Of 'Ten Ton Hammer' Performance From Gdansk

Drum-cam footage of MACHINE HEAD drummer Matt Alston performing the song "Ten Ton Hammer" with his bandmates on October 18 at B90 in Gdansk, Poland can be seen below.

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn recently spoke to France's HEAVY1 about the addition of Polish guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka (DECAPITATED) and British drummer Alston (DEVILMENT, EASTERN FRONT) to the group's ranks. Kiełtyka and Alston joined MACHINE HEAD on the first leg of its 25th-anniversary tour for the band's classic debut, "Burn My Eyes", which kicked off in Germany on October 5 in Freiburg, and wrapped in Dublin, Ireland on November 8.

"We were doing auditions for a while, and Vogg's audition just fucking blew my mind — it was so fucking tight and fucking accurate," Flynn stated about how the guitarist ended up landing the gig. "He sent over [a recording of] 'Imperium' as his first song just as a test. We always had all the dudes do a sound test, just to make sure the levels are good and stuff. I was, like, 'Oh my God! This dude is playing 'Imperium' better than I can right now.' [Laughs] It was crazy. And we ended up talking. Super-nice guy. Matt, same thing. We flew him out, jammed with him, and he killed it."

Each show on MACHINE HEAD's latest tour was described in a press release as "a three-hour musical extravaganza," comprised of two parts: part one features a battery of MACHINE HEAD's modern classics, such as "Imperium", "Halo" and "Now We Die", featuring Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern performing alongside Kiełtyka and Alston. Part two features "Burn My Eyes" played in its entirety for the first time ever, with original drummer Chris Kontos and guitarist Logan Mader joining in.

Asked how all the musicians are getting along and whether they are traveling together, Flynn told HEAVY1: "We're all in the band together — we all live together. The band's all on the bus — all six of us. And it's a great ride, man. Everybody is very respectful; everybody knows their role and just kind of doing it here and enjoying it. Everybody is out here having a blast. It's so nice to have people who are in a positive frame of mind, 'cause it wasn't like that in the past. And now it is, and it's fucking awesome."

Kontos left MACHINE HEAD before the release of the band's second album, 1997's "The More Things Change", and was replaced by Dave McClain.

Mader contributed to two MACHINE HEAD albums, the aforementioned "Burn My Eyes" and "The More Things Change", before exiting the group and being replaced by Ahrue Luster and, later on, Phil Demmel.

McClain and Demmel both left MACHINE HEAD in October 2018.

The North American leg of the "Burn My Eyes" 25th-anniversary tour will kick off in Phoenix on January 16, and continue across Texas, Florida, New York, Toronto, Chicago and Denver, wrapping up at the legendary Fox Theater in Oakland, California on February 21 and House Of Blues in Anaheim, California on February 22.

FERNANDO RIBEIRO Says MOONSPELL 'Got Kicked In The Head A Little Bit' For 1998's Experimental 'Sin/Pecado'

In a recent interview with Dead Rhetoric's Kyle McGinn, frontman Fernando Ribeiro of Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL discussed the transitional phase of the band's career that started with their 1998 album, "Sin/Pecado". Released after 1996's highly successful "Irreligious", "Sin/Pecado" saw MOONSPELL start to abandon some of their core gothic metal elements for a more experimental sound that divided fans and critics.

"I think that was the last year in heavy metal music where people [didn't] have the patience for bands experimenting," he said. "Twenty years later, I'm happy to see more experimental bands like ZEAL & ARDOR, ULVER and LEPROUS are getting really big and famous. I wouldn't say that 'Sin/Pecado' was ahead of its time or underrated — that would be an overstatement in my opinion, but I think that not only us, but PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE and TIAMAT — we were in a musical path that really involved experimentation and messing with the fans heads with the boundaries of dark metal. Some people really dug it, and took it to heart, but there was also a countermovement leading to these bands. It's just a name — I have no opinion about it. But for instance, bands like HAMMERFALL, were the forerunners of a certain type of 'classic,' let's call it, metal. So, there was a division in the waters.

"If you ask me as a musician, I have no regrets about 'Sin'. I would like to re-record it because I wasn't happy with the production, and I think some of those ideas were lost in translation. In a way, that's why we got a different producer for 'The Butterfly Effect'. But if people know about metal history, they should know that the main MOONSPELL influences of BATHORY and CELTIC FROST, they were experimental bands as well. We kind of didn't invent anything new, we just followed the lead and extended our wavelength to what we thought our idols would have done. Quorthon [BATHORY] actually wrote 'Under The Sign Of The Black Mark' as well as 'Twilight Of The Gods'. CELTIC FROST wrote 'Into The Pandemonium' as well as 'Morbid Tales'. So, I think that we followed that path. But you can never control what people think. That's the beauty and the curse of being a musician. We just moved on, and we are still here.

"People needed time to appreciate 'Sin', so I don't mind. We were coming from a very glorious time with 'Wolfheart' and 'Irreligious', and we got kicked in the head a little bit. But if I didn't want to be kicked in the head, I wouldn't be a musician. [Laughs] I don't want to…but I can definitely deal with it. Then some things grow on you — when I listened to 'Hammerheart' from BATHORY, I said, 'What the fuck is this?' but after a few days I loved it. When someone you love makes something you don't like, it's not a reason to get them out of your life…and music imitates life."

You can read the entire interview at this location.

"Sin/Pecado" was recently re-released by Napalm Records, and includes the "2econd Skin" EP and additional bonus tracks.

MOONSPELL's "Lisboa Under The Spell" live DVD/CD was released in August 2018 via Napalm Records. The live DVD/Blu-ray/3CD package captures the band's performance before 4,000 fans at the sold-out Campo Pequeno arena in their hometown of Lisbon, Portugal on February 4, 2017.

MAYHEM's NECROBUTCHER Says He Felt 'Sick' Watching EURONYMOUS Murder Scene In 'Lords Of Chaos' Movie

Bassist Jørn "Necrobutcher" Stubberud of Norwegian black metal legends MAYHEM says he felt "sick" watching the murder scene of founding member Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth in Jonas Åkerlund's film adaption of Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind's 1998 book "Lords Of Chaos: The Bloody Rise Of The Satanic Metal Underground". Necrobutcher recently made headlines when he said he was on his way to kill Euronymous before BURZUM's Varg Vikernes beat him to it. Vikernes would end up serving 15 years in a Norwegian prison for murder.

In a new interview with Finland's Kaaos TV, Necrobutcher explained how MAYHEM came around to the idea of lending its involvement to Åkerlund's film, marking a shift in strategy from its Norwegian black metal contemporaries who either outright declined participation or dismissed the book and film entirely.

"First of all, we were kind of hesitant toward the whole thing," he said (see video below). "You get this prompt call, 'Hey, I'm making a movie out of your band. What do you think about it?' I was like 'Ha? Fuck off!' He [Åkerlund] didn't even bother to ask us anything and they're going to base the film on the book, which is complete nonsense. Then I got worried — not worried that I was being slandered, but worried that someone would falsify the story and make money on it as well. Then I saw they had even had printed pictures of [deceased MAYHEM vocalist] Dead [Per Yngve Ohlin] in the book, I tried to sue the whole fucking book, too. With that in mind, I just told everybody 'Fuck off!' when this project came along. Then there were forces trying to get me and Åkerlund to meet. I was in L.A. two times without meeting him. He was there but I was doing accounting for the tour and stuff, so I didn't have time. But I was another tour, so it turns the guy is a good guy. We started to talk about several things and I said to him that 'Okay, you want something to make this film more authentic and you need some photos, maybe some music and shit like that? I must see the pre-movie first before I can okay anything. I met you a couple of times, but I don't trust people. I'm a paranoid guy.'"

He continued: "But when I saw the trailer or the pre-movie, I was thinking to myself and what I had in mind that the producer had said, 'This movie is coming out anyway.' The parts where they needed a little bit of music, they would just come up with something similar. And so it wouldn't change anything except a little bit of quality in the movie. And then I was thinking to myself, 'These people are good people. They come up to me now. They send me the preview. If we just give them a little bit, then that would make the movie a little bit more quality-worthy, then why not? And we'll get a little check on the side for the help.' Then the movie came out and first of all, all the journalists in the world, they didn't use L.A. [Times], but CNN, BBC, ABC, NRK, SVT, DR, everybody, RT, everybody wanted me to have a comment. I told them all, 'I'd gladly comment on this movie after it comes out because I want people to make up their own mind about this movie.'

"First of all, I don't think anything about movies. I like movies, but I don't know anything about making movies, so I don't know what's really good quality and what's not, and not keeping up to date with the new technology or anything. Of course, I was curious about the actors that were going to play us, to see if they had used some time and had effort into the characters. The first thing that hits me is that they actually, where they did a good job on the wardrobe, and everything around is made so back in time, back to 1990, because it's all the posters in the world in the Helvete [record] shop and all the t-shirts we're wearing all the patches and everything, it's spot-on. It's the same. That gave me a little shock. They had taken a lot of these historical things that we all know from court papers, from newspapers, from interviews, like, for example, when Vikernes drove in his mother's Volkswagen over the mountain and the story was that he was driving while under a blanket in the backseat [to murder Euronymous]. Some of these details, he put forward in the movie."

Necrobutcher was then asked whether the scenes depicting MAYHEM vocalist Per "Dead" Yngve Ohlin's suicide and Euronymous's stabbing death made him feel "emotional." Necrobutcher had previously expressed dismay over the fact Euronymous took photos of the aftermath of Dead's suicide, who reportedly made necklaces out of the fragments of his skull.

"Yeah. I dreaded it," he said. "It wasn't a good thing to be [watching]. Before I saw, Jonas had told me he studied autopsy reports on both killings and he had reconstructed the killings stab by stab because you can read from the autopsy where the first stab was in. When knowing that and when I saw that, and it was a slowed-down scene, it was really quick, they drove out both scenes, they were drawn out a little bit, it made me sick to watch. I felt sick to my stomach when I watched that. Afterward, I felt completely empty inside and really down and, like, 'Fuck…' It really hit me, actually. I didn't want to talk to anybody the rest of that day, that's for sure."

MAYHEM's latest studio album, "Daemon", was released on October 25 via Century Media.

VOODOO GODS Feat. GEORGE "CORPSEGRINDER" FISHER And VICTOR SMOLSKI Sign To Reaper Entertainment; Lyric Video For NECROPHOBIC Cover "Before The Dawn" Streaming

Voodoo Gods, the new flagship on death metal heaven, signs a worldwide record deal with the up-and-coming label Reaper Entertainment Europe. The new studio album, The Divinity Of Blood, will be released in spring 2020.

Since their formation in Tampa (US), the band has unleashed powerful death/thrash, which is influenced by voodooism, rituals and anti-Christian forces as well as the spirits of nature.

The band was founded in 2001 by Alex von Poschinger, Tony Norman (ex-Monstrosity, Terrorizer) and Seth Van De Loo (Severe Torture). Five years later guitarist Hiro (Dies Irae, Sceptic, Decapitated) and Nergal (Behehoth) joined the band as singer. One year later bass guru Jean Baudin (Nuclear Rabbits, Element Of Surprise) and Mike Browning (Morbid Angel, Nocturnus) followed as additional vocalist and guitar legend David Shankle (ex-Manowar) joined. With this lineup the band released the EP Shrunken Head in 2008.

Due to the full Behemoth schedule, Nergal had to leave the band and was replaced by none other than George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (Cannibal Corpse). Together with him the band released their debut album Anticipation For Blood Leveled In Darkness in 2014, which was produced by King Diamond's Andy La Rocque.

In 2016 guitar virtuoso and all-rounder Victor Smolski (Almanac, ex-Rage) joined the band. With him Voodoo Gods recorded their second studio album, which will be released by Reaper Entertainment Europe in spring 2020. The new album once again will be produced by Andy La Rocque.

Voodoo Gods are a band and not a side project.

To celebrate the signing the band presents a brand new lyric video for their cover of the Necrophobic song, "Before The Dawn". Check it out below:

Alex from Voodoo Gods states: "We are very proud and highly honored, to be part of the Reaper universe. We are really happy, to have found a record label, which put such a diligence and effort to also support death and thrash metal music. It's a huge step for Voodoo Gods, to have Reaper Entertainment and Universal distro at our ringside."

Victor Smolski adds: "It was a great experience for me to be part of recording process of new Voodoo Gods CD! Very powerful, aggressive songs with unexpected parts and interesting arrangements."

George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher states: "I look forward to the release of The Divinity Of Blood and I can't wait to see the reaction towards the new songs."

Greg from Reaper adds: "We are out of words when it comes to Voodoo Gods! What a Line Up - and what a pleasure to have such renowned artists on REAPER and to have the chance to release their killer new album. Stay tuned and watch out for this SUPERGROUP! You will soon hear and see what I mean..."

HEAVEN SHALL BURN To Release Of Truth And Sacrifice Album In March

Heaven Shall Burn have announced their upcoming album, Of Truth And Sacrifice, which is due for a release end of March 2020.

Instead of getting stuck in the ever grueling cycle of studio recordings, album release and playing live Heaven Shall Burn allowed themselves a well-deserved break. While taking the time off the band the individual members could recharge their batteries and gather new influences and ideas.

Maik Weichert (guitars) says: “We decided that one album wasn’t good enough, but we wanted to create a double album as a statement. Our goal was a total work of art that people could dive into, something that leaves a lot of room for surprises and experiments. It was only fair to give our fans twice as much after letting them wait for so long.”

Conceptually the album is split into two halves: "of truth" and "of sacrifice".

Maik Weichert: “The title is exploring the idea of truth and the question what kind of sacrifices you are willing to make for it. Something reflected in the artwork: A warrioress is shielding her child with her own body. While the mother is representing the willingness to sacrifice the child is standing for truth.” The original artwork courtesy of Eliran Kantor (Testament, Iced Earth, Sodom) is a triptych showing the mother as a child and her son as a grown up. “It’s a title that refers to numerous current developments: people’s blindness in daily life and the unwillingness to make any sacrifices in order to bring about change. Still, there are many people in this world who do exactly this: teachers in Africa risking their lives in order to be able to educate children, journalists and whistleblowers who are putting their own safety at risk in order to flag things going wrong.”

When it comes to the music you can look forward to their trademark Heaven Shall Burn sound, but also to atmospheric strings that the band fleshed out with Sven Helbig and recorded with conductor Wilhelm Keitel in Minsk. On top of roughly 100 minutes of music on the regular album the limited editions come with a 90min documentary, “Mein grünes Herz in dunklen Zeiten“ (“My Green Heart In Dark Times“), by renown producer Ingo Schmoll who followed the band for almost a year in order to get to the bottom of the phenomenon Heaven Shall Burn.

Tracklisting:

CD1
"March Of Retribution"
"Thoughts And Prayers"
"Eradicate"
"Protector"
"Übermacht"
"My Heart And The Ocean"
"Expatriate"
"What War Means"
"Terminate The Unconcern"
"The Ashes Of My Enemies"

CD2
"Children Of A Lesser God"
"La Résistance"
"The Sorrows Of Victory"
"Stateless"
"Tirpitz"
"Truther"
"Critical Mass"
"Eagles Among Vultures"
"Weakness Leaving My Heart"

First pre-orders for Of Truth And Sacrifice will go online in early January.

Heaven Shall Burn lineup:

Guitar: Maik Weichert
Bass: Eric Bischoff
Guitar: Alexander Dietz
Vocals: Marcus Bischoff
Drums: Christian Bass

THE ACACIA STRAIN Surprise-Releases New Album, 'It Comes In Waves'

THE ACACIA STRAIN has released a new album titled "It Comes In Waves". The effort is now available for streaming, download or purchase via Closed Casket Activites. The follow-up to 2017's "Gravebloom" was recorded in the spring of 2019 and was mixed and mastered by Steve Seid of Graphic Nature Audio. The cover art was created by MFAXII.

"It Comes In Waves" track listing:

01. Our (3:44)

02. Only (2:43)

03. Sin (3:59)

04. Was (5:45)

05. Giving (2:54)

06. Them (2:19)

07. Names (8:47)

Asked in a 2018 interview with Distorted Sound if he feels THE ACACIA STRAIN fans have a certain expectation of what new material should sound like, vocalist Vincent Bennett said: "I feel like at this point in any band's career that the fans are going to expect one thing and since they have expectations that they are going to be upset that their expectations aren’t met. Everybody always wants a new version of an old album, and that's too much pressure to put on a band. I mean, we've already [written] 'Continent', so why would we wanna do that again? We just wanna move forward, and a lot of people are, like, 'We need more breakdowns,' or, 'We need less breakdowns,' and no one ever agrees what they want. We write for ourselves and if people like it, that's great."

Regarding where THE ACACIA STRAIN's main source of creativity comes from, considering all of the band's lineup changes, Vincent said: "I think the changes in lineup have been a blessing, because people [were] kinda get burnt out. Bringing in new people who are already fans of the band know what they want to hear and do and they have something to prove and it's a fresh head in the mix. If it's feeling kinda stale, and if you get someone new, they are, like, 'Well what if we do this?' and everybody's in agreement. It's a very democratic writing process — everyone has something to say — and it's really helped us to stay fresh."

Watch THE CULT Perform In Atlantic City

Fan-filmed video footage of THE CULT's December 13 concert at Sound Waves at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey can be seen below.

THE CULT frontman Ian Astbury told Atlantic City Weekly in a new interview that the band is planning to work on new music in 2020.

"We've got a few pieces lying around in various stages of completion," he said. "The intention is to get together in the New Year and take a look at what we've got and decide how we are going to go about moving forward. It's is an essential part of any creative lifeblood."

THE CULT's last collection of new material, "Hidden City", was released in February 2016 via Cooking Vinyl. The follow-up to 2012's "Choice Of Weapon" was written by Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy and was produced by Bob Rock, who has previously worked with METALLICA and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

Earlier this year, Astbury spoke to Global News about how the songwriting process has changed since he and Billy first met and started DEATH CULT over 35 years ago. He said: "Well, when we first met, we were living in his flat in Brixton; I'd sleep on the couch. [Laughs] So yeah, you could say it's very different. We spent a lot of time together and we were immersed in each other every day. We were always exchanging ideas but now we have very separate lives. We both have different lifestyles so when we do come together, we bring whatever it is that we've been musing on outside of that. Then we come into an intensive writing period. It's a different way of writing as opposed to like a gradual thing when we were younger because as you get older, your life takes over. But we've been managed to maintain a relationship over 10 studio albums and three decades so it's still there; there's still a chemistry that works.

THE CULT has spent the last few months touring in celebration of the 30th anniversary of its "Sonic Temple" album. The LP catapulted THE CULT into superstar status and remains their most commercially successful release. It has sold over 1.5 million copies in the U.S. alone and was certified platinum in 1990. It made it to No. 10 on the Billboard charts, and several of the album's songs remain rock-radio staples to this day.

"The Cult: Sonic Temple 30" has been released as a deluxe box set and a five-CD set. Plus Beggars Arkive reissued "Sonic Temple" on double LP, which has been out of print for over 20 years.

STEVE BROWN Says TRIXTER Will Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of Debut Album With Select Shows

In a brand new interview with Izzy Presley of the "Another FN Podcast", TRIXTER guitarist Steve Brown was asked about the current status of the band he co-founded back in 1983. "Myself and [bassist] P.J. Farley, yeah, we're still out there doing it with [MR. BIG singer] Eric Martin," Steve said. "Pete [Loran, vocals] and Gus [Mark Scott, drums], I haven't really spoken to them much, and you have to ask them what they're doing. But P.J. and I, we do this thing with Eric Martin called 'Eric Martin And Trixter', and we go out and we do a MR. BIG greatest-hits set, and I sing the TRIXTER songs. And we've been doing that for the better part of the last three years. We've been to Japan, and we plan to take it all over the world. That's kind of where we're at."

He continued: "We've had offers [for TRIXTER shows], and every time an offer comes in for TRIXTER, it's given to the other guys, and sometimes they choose not to show up. But if the offer's good enough for me… That's one of the good things about being a guitar player who can sing as good as the lead singer and play guitar. You don't wanna come? You don't wanna do the gigs? I'm gonna go out and do the gigs and sing my songs. And that's the way it is. If people wanna hear TRIXTER, it's just the way it is. And if someone doesn't wanna come, I can't make anybody get on the plane to fly out to a gig. So, that's pretty much the answer on that."

Steve added: "Yeah, there's always a TRIXTER. We're looking forward to 2020. It's the 30th anniversary of the first record. I'm sure we're gonna do shows. Who's gonna be there, I can't tell you. As it is right now, the TRIXTER that we've been playing with is me, P.J. Farley and [drummer] Joey Cassata from the great ZO2 band, who plays with us with Eric Martin. And that's pretty much all I can tell you on that."

Since reuniting, TRIXTER has released two studio albums via Frontiers Music Srl — 2012's "New Audio Machine" and 2015's "Human Era".

Back in 2017, Scott released a holiday album, titled "Christmas Miracle".

SABATON - "We Didn't Really Find Our Musical Identity Until Primo Victoria"

Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström and frontman Joakim Brodén recently spoke with Guitar World about the band's difficult early years, finding their identity with the release of the  Primo Victoria in 2005, and Sabaton's rise to fame.

Sundström: "2002 and 2003 were definitely the slowest years in Sabaton’s history - it was really boring around that time. Even before that, in 1999, 2000 and 2001, the band was much more active and playing quite a lot of shows. But by 2002-2003, we were almost dead."

Brodén: "We got so angry and so determined that it made us even more focused (after the failed first album). We rehearsed even harder than before and worked on writing an even better second album, and we knew that this time we weren’t even going to give it to a record label, but would record it and finance it ourselves and then see who wanted to put it out. So without that setback of the first album, maybe Primo Victoria wouldn’t be the album that it is. We didn’t really find our musical identity until Primo Victoria. That was when things started to make sense for us musically. That was when Sabaton became Sabaton.”

Sabaton recently released an official music video for "Seven Pillars Of Wisdom", taken from their critically acclaimed latest album, The Great War. The video was shot by Tunisian filmmaker Mehdi Jouni in the Sahara desert and features Swedish-American actor Indy Neidell, who also hosts the Sabaton History Channel. Check it out below.

The Sabaton History Channel has released Episode 046 - "Seven Pillars Of Wisdom" - T. E. Lawrence Of Arabia.

A message states: "The British T. E. Lawrence played a major role in bringing together a coalition of Arab factions to rise up against the Ottoman Empire. Their efforts helped the British War Effort in the Middle East, but the British-Arab coalition was not as stable as it might have seemed."

Watch GEOFF TATE Perform QUEENSRŸCHE Classics In San Donà Di Piave, Italy

Fan-filmed video footage of original QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate performing a couple of the band's classic songs on December 22 at the Revolver club in San Donà di Piave, Italy can be seen below.

Geoff has spent the last couple of years celebrating the 30th anniversary of QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime" album by performing the LP in its entirety on European and U.S. tours.

In April 2014, Tate and QUEENSRŸCHE announced that a settlement had been reached after a nearly two-year legal battle where the singer sued over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being fired in 2012. Original QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Eddie Jackson (bass) responded with a countersuit. The settlement included an agreement that Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson would continue as QUEENSRŸCHE, while Tate would have the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.

Tate has been replaced in QUEENSRŸCHE by former CRIMSON GLORY singer Todd La Torre.

Tate will perform the QUEENSRŸCHE albums "Rage For Order" and "Empire" in their entirety on the "Empire 30th Anniversary Tour" in 2020.

1986's "Rage For Order" introduced a much more polished look and sound for QUEENSRŸCHE. The album featured keyboards as prominently as guitars, and the group adopted an image more closely associated with glam rock or glam metal than with heavy metal (of which glam metal was a subgenre). A video was filmed for the song "Gonna Get Close to You", originally recorded in 1984 by DALBELLO.

Released in 1990, "Empire" included the hit ballad "Silent Lucidity", which reached No. 9 on the Billboard singles chart, helped propel "Empire" to No. 7 on the album chart and earned two Grammy Award nominations.

Manca veramente poco... ?festeggiamo tutti insieme il compleanno di Alex... con il grande Geoff Tate.. ❤️? vi aspettiamo numerosi...

TNT's RONNI LE TEKRØ Wants To Collaborate With TONY HARNELL On PAGE/PLANT-Style Album

TNT's Ronni Le Tekrø was interviewed for episode 6 of the "80's Glam Metalcast". Asked if he is still on good terms with the band's former singer Tony Harnell, the guitarist said (hear audio below): "Definitely. We talk regularly and we're even discussing making a kind of Page/Plant album, a Harnell/Le Tekrø album, which could maybe lead into something in the future. But I think me and Tony Harnell — I'm speaking not on behalf of him, but on behalf of myself — we need a different playground to do more extensive hard rock with other ideas, whereas TNT is more limited to a [specific] sound. You see what I mean? So, we're definitely buddies, and that will last forever. We don't hate each other, and we never did. That was never the [case]."

Harnell's most recent split with TNT took place in October 2017, less than a year and a half after he rejoined the group. He later described his relationship with TNT in an "Unphiltered" interview as "a very long marriage. I'm here [in New York], they're there [in Norway] — they're across the pond really far away. It's a very difficult situation to be in without having a very unified business organization, and no matter what I did, I could not get the thing unified. We were just on two totally separate not only continents physically, but mentally, psychologically, we were on two different continents as well."

Harnell said that he "really, really wanted" his latest collaboration with TNT to work out. "In my opinion, this was gonna be it — we were gonna stay together until I didn't feel like singing anymore," he said. 'I was gonna do other things and do other projects and so forth, but my goal was that TNT woud be my band for at least another five years, maybe 10 years or whatever, until it ran its course. So this was kind of an unexpected thing."

Harnell also wanted "to make clear" that he "did not quit" TNT at the end of his latest tenure with the group. "I really haven't quit the band as many times as other people in the band have said and also the press has said," he explained. "Most of the time, it's been either a mutual parting of ways or a break. We've taken several breaks that were just not even talked about — we just didn't record or work [together] for a couple of years and then just started working again. The only time I legitimately actually quit the band was 2006. And then this [latest split] was just sort of a, 'This isn't working.' It was kind of a mutual thing. It [was] working on stage really well — actually, some of the best shows we have ever done were [in 2017]. And I was actually really happy. In August [2017], I thought we did some of the best shows we've ever done, and then at the same time, we could not get the business stuff together. And at our age, the business really does have to be organized."

The singer went on to suggest that some of the individuals closely associated with TNT were to blame for his most recent exit from the group. "There are people that often are maybe well-meaning, but there, unfortunately, were people around the band that were, instead of trying to bring the main characters in the band together, they were more… maybe inadvertently — I don't think they were on purpose trying to do this — but they ultimately drove a wedge between the two most important members of the band, and that was ultimately the thing that I think caused this last thing to fall apart," he said.

Harnell added that was aware of the fact that he was being blamed by many of the TNT fans for his latest departure from the group. "I don't read Blabbermouth — I don't," he said. "I mean, I read the stories, but I don't read the comments under the stories, because those are dangerous to read. But I know just from peeking at my page and having to delete a few things here and there, and over at the TNT page, and then hearing from a few friends some things that the people were saying some not-such-nice things. But, honestly, at the end of the day, I don't really hold it against them, because they don't know. They weren't there, and anything they're hearing is either second-hand or third-hand [information]."

In November 2017, TNT recruited Baol Bardot Bulsara as the band's new singer. The Spanish vocalist made his live debut with TNT at the Oslo Spektrum on Oslo, Norway, where the group performed as the support act for the SCORPIONS.

Lisbon, Portugal-based metal outfit, Vëlla, will release their debut album, Coma, during spring 2020 via Raising Legends Records. The album artwork can be seen below.

The entire album is being recorded at Raising Legends Lisboa studios, with the band's bass player, Caesar Craveiro, in charge of the production, mix and mastering duties.

In the words of the guitar player Oz Vilesov, "This is a record with several nuances within the metal universe, and the same music can go from a melancholic and melodic vibe to a fast and destructive abyss. Lineup:

Pedro Lopes - Vocals
