Canadian death / thrash metal quartert Cathartic Demise will release their new full-length album, In Absence, on April 9. The official video for the new single, "For Power," can be seen below. The single is also available on Bandcamp.
In comparison to the band's self-titled EP, In Absence still consists of the melo / prog / death thrash metal elements, but with a more "mature" approach. The overall musicianship within the band improved, as well as the overall songwriting capabilities. In Absence features the same aggression as the self-titled EP, but brings an intense atmosphere with extreme tempos, and brisk riffs. This release heavily carries on the epic melodic sections heard previously, and even going further with more complex song structuring and longer tracks. Aside from the aggressive side of things, hints of experimentation can be heard, showing slower sections, and clean parts as well.
In Absence was recorded and mixed by Jonah Kay at HM Studio in Waterloo, ON. The album was mastered by Jamie King, and features artwork by Ioannis Vassilopoulas.
Tracklisting:
"With Lust"
"For Power"
"Blade In The Dark"
"Silence Within"
"Pale Imitations"
"Disparity"

"Waves"
"Desire"

Florida's The Noctambulant have released their stunning video for "Hellrazor". The song is from their upcoming album of the same name which will be released on March 5th. The song is the perfect representation of how the band has transformed from straightforward melodic black metal into an aesthetic more authentic to their southern Floridian roots.
Frontman E. Helvete commented, “For me personally, this rebrand and music video was very personal. The video was shot on our family property, of which I”m the 4th generation to live here. I spent so many years trying to fit into the Scandanavian/European motif, that it started to feel disingenuous. So after our last album, The Cold And Formless Deep, the band and I decided to look at what makes us unique in the Black Metal landscape, and that is our origin. From the swamps and bayous of the south, we found a love of extreme metal tempered with our own brand and influences.”
Last year, FOZZY singer Chris Jericho joined forces with TRIXTER bassist P.J. Farley (TRIXTER), guitarist Joe McGinness and drummer Kent Slucher to form a 1980s KISS cover band called KUARANTINE. The band's latest video, for the song "Love's A Deadly Weapon", which originally appeared on KISS's 1985 album "Asylum", can be seen below.
Jericho said: "After the huge response to the first two KUARANTINE singles and the hundreds of thousands of views and streams they accrued, we agreed it was time to release our next magnum opus, 'Love's A Deadly Weapon'. It's heavy, trashy, proggy and most importantly, catchy AF! So cuddle up to your Valentine and enjoy the filthiest love song ever... You're welcome."
KUARANTINE's "Love's A Deadly Weapon" is now available everywhere for streaming and download via Madison Records with distribution by The Orchard.
Jericho previously said about KUARANTINE's formation: "When Kent & Joe approached me to sing on a few 80s KISS songs, I jumped at the chance, as it's my favorite era of my favorite band. Once we brought in PJ, not only did we have a world-class band with years of touring experience, we also had four guys with one common bond: to stay creative and to do something special for all music fans during this pandemic."
In addition to his world-renowned wrestling career, first with World Wrestling Entertainment and now with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Jericho is the lead singer of the internationally successful rock band FOZZY, which will release its new album later this year. The group's eighth full-length will feature the band's latest single, "Nowhere To Run", their third Top 10 hit on Active Rock Radio. The pop culture icon is also the host of "The Rock Of Jericho" weekly radio show on SiriusXM Octane and the widely popular "Talk Is Jericho" podcast, an Official Honoree at last year's Webby Awards, as well as a four-time New York Times best-selling author and actor. For the past two decades, Chris Jericho has established himself as a multi-faceted talent with tens of millions of fans worldwide.
For KUARANTINE, Jericho has surrounded himself with a group of top-notch touring musicians. Kent Slucher has been the powerhouse behind the kit at Luke Bryan's shows for the past 12 years, from small clubs to headlining stadiums and amphitheaters. Joe McGinness is a rising country singer/guitarist, who has shared the stage with artists such as OLD DOMINION, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE and GRANGER SMITH, and is also a member of KLASSIK '78, a digital tribute to '70s KISS. Bassist P.J. Farley rose to fame in the New Jersey-based gold-selling rock band TRIXTER, which toured with KISS, POISON, SCORPIONS and more in the '90s and has released two albums since reuniting in 2008.
KUARANTINE has emerged to entertain listeners with their versions of KISS rarities and some good ol' fashioned rock music during these unparalleled times.
SEETHER has shared a special fan version video of its hit single "Dangerous" that features an array of at-home performances submitted by a collection of its most ardent and talented admirers. The video premiered on SEETHER's official YouTube channel this morning along with the band's heartfelt message of appreciation for their fans' unwavering support of their latest album, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" (If You Want Peace, Prepare For War). Released last summer, the album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Hard Rock chart while "Dangerous" hit No. 1 at rock radio for three consecutive weeks last fall.
Last month, SEETHER shared the official music video for the LP's second single, "Bruised And Bloodied". Previously the band released videos for fan-favorite album tracks "Beg" and "Wasteland" while also highlighting songs from its multi-platinum-selling catalog with a series of virtual acoustic performance videos.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, SEETHER released three of its classic albums — "Disclaimer II", "Karma And Effect" and "Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces" — on vinyl for the very first time in November via Craft Recordings. Released early in the band's remarkable run, these three albums exemplify the distinctive musicianship and songcraft for which SEETHER is best known and helped solidify them as one of the most successful hard rock bands in the world.
Since forming in Pretoria, South Africa in 1999, SEETHER has amassed a global fan base that has grown organically with the quartet's sense of purpose and commitment spreading outwards, offering their fans around the world camaraderie, comfort and a sense of personal power. While others of their ilk faded away, SEETHER maintains a strong sense of self, ignoring trends and critics in favor of a consummate devotion to their craft. Their impressive sales and chart history includes three platinum and two gold albums, 16 No. 1 singles (including 2017's "Let You Down", 2014's "Words As Weapons" and 2011's "Tonight"); 20 Top 5 multi-format hits, with U.S. singles sales topping 17 million and over 1.5 billion streams worldwide across all platforms.
They are also creators of the Rise Above Fest, founded in 2012 to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness. Past headliners of the annual gathering include Slash, GODSMACK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, PAPA ROACH and many more. Since conception, the Rise Above Fest has turned into a broader movement, expanding its presence at additional music festivals around the globe. All SEETHER shows donate $1 of ticket sales to benefit the SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices Of Education) organization.
Making history as the first female solo artist to top the Hard Rock Albums chart with her acclaimed "Life Screams" (2016), Lacey Sturm returns today (Friday, February 12) with her second single, "State Of Me", from her highly anticipated sophomore project, due this summer. The platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated former frontwoman of FLYLEAF wrote the new song with SKILLET's John and Korey Cooper. The single is available now at digital and streaming outlets everywhere from Followspot Records / The Fuel Music.
Marking a continued return to Lacey's hard-rock roots, "State Of Me" extends an aggressive, musically violent lifeline to herself, and to those hanging over the precipice; those drowning under a crushing weight.
"Choosing life is violent in that we reject every subtle form of suicide, every eternal death choice that would try to disorient, distract and seduce us away," says Lacey, who lost someone close to her in this season and has herself narrowly escaped suicide twice in her life. "Eternal life starts in our soul. So look at the state of it. And if you see eternal death, be violent against it, cut off every temporary thing that would bring that into your heart and reach out and cling to eternal life, even if it costs you this temporary one."
Produced, recorded and mixed by Lacey's husband Josh Sturm, "State Of Me" follows the release of "The Decree", and remains uncommonly true to the artist's experience.
"During times of loss, it's obvious that what we see is temporary. We have to accept that. But what lingers after loss is what we can't see. That is eternal," continues Lacey. "What really matters is love, faith, the spirit. The soul. When I focus there, on the eternal things, I find a tremendous resolve to protect what matters most."
Performing live with SKILLET before the pandemic shut down arena tours, Lacey has since been writing new music and finding creative ways to connect with fans. Singing on BREAKING BENJAMIN's 2020 single "Dear Agony (Aurora Version)", which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 after 20 weeks on the chart while racking up well over 10 million views on YouTube alone, Lacey has also performed with SHINEDOWN and others on drive-in theater stages and has hit virtual stages along with METALLICA, THREE DAYS GRACE, SEETHER and others during the Recording Academy-sponsored Octane Home Invasion festival.
Sturm left FLYLEAF in October 2012. She was replaced by Kristen May, who recorded one album with the group, 2014's "Between The Stars", before exiting.
A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris is included in the Ltd. CD+DVD Digipak and Ltd. CD Box Set edition of Alice Cooper's new studio album Detroit Stories - out February 26. Pre-order here, and check out "Billion Dollar Babies" below.
Named for the city that launched the original Alice Cooper group on the road to success, Detroit Stories follows last year’s Breadcrumbs EP as a modern-day homage to the toughest and craziest Rock n Roll scene there ever was.
In 1970, fledgling producer Bob Ezrin walked into a farmhouse on the outskirts of Detroit to work with the Alice Cooper band. Abandoning flower power Los Angeles, because they were the opposite of the hippie peace and love ideal, Alice had brought his decidedly darker gang back to his birthplace to the legendary rock scene that gave birth to hard rock, garage rock, soul, funk, punk…and more.
Ezrin drilled the band for 10 hours a day to define their signature sound. Whenever they nailed a song, the inmates at the hospital for the criminally insane across the road cheered and thus the classic Alice Cooper sound was born.
“Detroit was Heavy Rock central then,” explains Alice, “You’d play the Eastown and it would be Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, the Stooges and the Who, for $4! The next weekend at the Grande it was MC5, Brownsville Station and Fleetwood Mac, or Savoy Brown or the Small Faces. You couldn’t be a soft-rock band or you’d get your ass kicked.”
“Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield,” he says, “San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar driven, hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home.”
50 years later Alice and Ezrin gathered some legendary Detroit musicians in a Detroit studio to record Detroit Stories, Alice Cooper’s new album that celebrates that spirit for a new era. If 2019’s “Breadcrumbs” EP laid down the trail to the city, Detroit Stories drives like a muscle car right down Woodward Ave.
“We recorded with Wayne Kramer (guitarist and writer from the MC5), Johnny “Bee” Badanjek (drums - from the legendary Detroit Wheels), Paul Randolph (legendary Detroit jazz and R&B bassist) as well as the Motor City Horns and other local musicians,” explains Ezrin, “We had musical ideas and encouragement from John Varvatos, the support of the folks at Shinola, and we recorded at Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak. This was Made In Detroit for Detroit by Detroit denizens!”
Discover Detroit Stories as they were meant to be told.
Detroit Stories will be available on CD, CD+DVD Digipak, CD Box Set (including CD, Blu-ray, T-shirt, face mask, torch light and 3 stickers), and 2LP Gatefold on February 26th on earMUSIC.
The DVD and Blu-ray will show the incredible live performance, A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris, for the first time on video. With the whole concert culture being shut down due to COVID-19, Alice Cooper felt the need to share one of his latest shows with his fans as he cannot wait to get back on the road - better than ever.

Canadian hard rock / metal band 2 Shadows has released a new single and video, "Screamworks" via Rock Shop Records. The track was produced by The Veer Union frontman, Crispin Earl.
"'Screamworks' is a song about people who make you want to scream," says 2 Shadows vocalist Glen Bridden. "People who would rather manipulate you to serve their own end even when you have a common goal in mind. The song is an expression of the frustration found in dealing with someone who has their head shoved so far up their own… you know. In a lot of ways its hugely cathartic for us and allows us to finally talk about past experiences bottled up for far too long."
2 Shadows is a four piece metal band based out of Vancouver, BC, consisting of vocalist Glen Bridden, guitarists Tryst Germaine and James Holder, along with drummer Mitch Harsch. The group was founded in 2015 and for the last five years have meticulously and methodically honing in their craft, leaving no stone unturned. Inspired by Slipknot and Rammstein, as well as Motionless In White and Asking Alexandria, 2 Shadows is a combination of the most modern sounding metalcore blended with visually theatrical imagery, creating a duality that is the core of the band. According to vocalist, Glen Bridden, "Our live show is just as important to us as music. We try to make our live show a visual representation of our music. We are constantly building and evolving our stage show so our fans can always expect something different and exciting!"
2 Shadows will be releasing a new EP via Rock Shop Records in the summer of 2021 and will be out on the road, in its support, both nationally and internationally. Dates and venue info tba.
Wolf King has issued "Holy Serpent", the third single taken from their upcoming album, The Path Of Wrath, scheduled for release on March 5 via Prosthetic Records.
Marking their return late last year, the Bay Area four-piece's blend of blackened metal and punk attitude is as potent as ever on their latest single. Accompanying the single is a live in-studio performance video, shot at Rapture Studio in Hayward, CA, where the band spent time recording The Path Of Wrath with Cody Fuentes.
Of the new single, the band comments, “'Holy Serpent' is about the manipulation and greed of religion. How they have caused wars and feed lies to the weak minded for their own profit.”
On the live in-studio video, the band adds, "We did the video at Rapture Recordings to capture the live sound and energy that this track deserves. This song is easily one of our most anticipated from the album, and we can’t wait to play live. It’s groovy, packed with riffs, and is energetic from start to finish."
Recorded at both Prairie Sun Recordings and Rapture Recordings in California by Cody Fuentes, with mixing and mastering handled by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden, Wolf Kings's blackened metal sound is captured at it's most captivatingly unrestrained on The Path Of Wrath. For an uncompromising, filth-drenched, smoke-infused take on the genre, The Path Of Wrath delivers the goods and then some. Pre-orders can be placed now at this location.

"Triumph Of the Slain"

Madame Mayhem has released her new single "Cruel Heart" to all digital platforms. The single was co-written by Madame Mayhem and Keith Wallen (of Breaking Benjamin).
"This was one of the first songs Keith Wallen and I wrote together. I always have such a great experience co-writing with Keith. I remember listening to this demo on my way home after we finished writing and just getting so excited to share it. I have been patiently waiting for the right moment to release this single and I think now is as good a time as any! This song is near and dear to my heart and I am excited for the world to hear it!" says Madame Mayhem.
She adds, "I performed this song live on tour a few times prior to recording it, which only makes this release even more special because of the excitement the crowds had for "Cruel Heart" hearing it for the first time as an unknown song. I remember having conversations with fans after the shows about how much they connected with it, which means so much to me! I hope the song continues to connect with people through this release."
This song was produced and arranged by Johnny K (Disturbed, Megadeth, Sevendust, Finger Eleven), who also played bass on the track. Lead vocals and backing vocals were performed by Madame Mayhem, Keith Wallen performed guitars and backing vocals and Jason "JBomb" Harrison was on drums.
Malacoda have released the first video for their title track from their upcoming EP Crawling Chaos.
Malacoda adds: “Usually we do really elaborate music videos for our releases, but Covid prevented us from getting together and making something grandiose. We felt a performance/lyric video would be cool, we haven’t done one of those before. We filmed it at my studio ourselves and sent to a video editor we know in Sweden to make it a little bit more interesting. It was a fun process, and probably the quickest music video shoot I’ve ever done!”
While looking for a drummer, the band recorded throughout the rest of 2019/2020 with friends behind the drum kit.
Tracklisting:
“Crawling Chaos”
“Deadlights”
“From The Depths” (feat. James Delbridge)
“The Harsh Law”
After a successful release of the first single “The Fisherman”, Nad Sylvan has issued the second song “The Stolen Child” off of his new album Spiritus Mundi, to be released on April 9 2021. The album’s lyrics are based on poems by W.B. Yeats.
Nad comments on the new song as follows: “‘The Stolen Child’ is one of W B Yeats’ most popular early poems first published in Irish Monthly in 1896. Like much of his early work, it is based on the myths and legends he heard from local people while growing up in County Sligo. I feel this song is a very captivating take on the lyrical content and will place you in a colorful dreamy landscape which will take you back to your own gullible childhood. Let the fairies come and get you.”
Spiritus Mundi is available as Special Edition CD Digipak (incl. two bonus tracks), 180g Gatefold LP Vinyl Edition (incl. the entire album on CD) and as Digital Download. Preorder here.
Tracklisting:

Joseph Williams and The Players Club / Mascot Label Group present "Wilma Fingadoux," the third and final instant gratification release from his upcoming new studio album out February 26. The accompanying video was self-produced and directed by Williams can be screened below.
He offers, “’Wilma Fingadoux’ is the latest in a long line of musical messages, songs and poems to my mother who died at the age of 41. I was 13 years old. This song is a reflection of the painful yet wonderful place in my memory where I can speak to her. Also singing with me are my daughters Hannah Ruick and Ray Williams. Their voices, their presence, makes me so proud of my beautiful girls and their unparalleled talent. And I feel relief also because in this way they too can speak to her through music the way I always have. My mom had such a sharp sense of humor. The title of the song is the punch line of one of my favorite jokes she used to tell…she taught me how to feel funny deep inside! This lyric is my release letter. Miss you Momma! Xojoe.”
Steve Lukather (aka “Luke”) and Joseph Williams will release individual solo albums on February 26 via The Players Club / Mascot Label Group. Both artists have made significant contributions to the other’s album.
Steve Lukather’s solo album titled I Found The Sun Again was co-produced by Ken Freeman, who also both engineered and mixed the new collection of repertoire. The players feature many dignitaries that have been in Luke’s life for decades. Amongst those are drummer Gregg Bissonette, keyboardist Jeff Babko, and bassists Jorgen Carlsson and John Pierce. Life-long friend and Toto band-mate David Paich performs piano and organ across the album, while Joseph Williams sang on multiple tracks alongside writing string and horn arrangements and tracking keys on the aforementioned “Run To Me.” Both Paich and Williams co-wrote that specific composition, while friend and band leader of the All-Starrs, Ringo Starr makes a special appearance on the recording and in the video. Other co-writers include Stan Lynch, Jeff Babko, and of course Joseph Williams.
A portion of the proceeds from this album will be directed to The Ed Asner Family Center for Autism. For more information, head here.
Joseph Williams’ Denizen Tenant was self-produced outside of the compositions “Black Dahlia” and “No Lessons” which were arranged and produced by Jay Gruska and mixed by Dave Way. The musicians and singers who made contributions in the studio reads like a who’s who of players that have been in the artist’s life over the past four decades. Amongst these contributors are band-mates from Toto David Paich and Steve Lukather. Simon Phillips, Leland Sklar, Lenny Castro, Nathan East, all of whom enjoyed tenures in Toto are also featured players on the album. Additional contributions include performances by Oscar Bugarin, Jay Gruska, Mike Landau, Barbara Gruska, Steve Overton, Dylan Ronan, Hannah Ruick, Steve Tavaloni, Weston Wilson, Ray Williams, and Mark T. Williams. The album was produced and mixed at Digbyroad Studios, Sherman Oaks, CA.
There are so many contributors with deep connections and history with the artist, all of whom have a significant footprint on Denizen Tenant. For a complete overview, click here.
The recordings will be available individually on both CD and LP, alongside on all streaming services globally. A limited-edition deluxe edition is available with the two titles bundled together. The pre-order is now live and available here: Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams.
Luke and Williams hope these albums present an enjoyable experience when listened to on shuffle.
At the end of last year, Anneke van Giersbergen announced the release of her new solo album, The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest, one of the most important and personal albums in Anneke’s career to date. An album inspired by heartbreak - not something Anneke ever anticipated writing. It will be released on February 26.
The third single, “Agape”, sees the light of day today and Anneke is very excited to be sharing this new piece of music with the world. She comments: “Agape refers to the highest form of unconditional love, the type of love we all yearn for. I’ve tried to create a distinct echo of a love song from the ‘70s with a meditative guitar arrangement. The lush sound of a string quartet adds a dreamy quality to the song.”

Spain-based rock outfit, Bala, have inked a deal with Century Media Records. The two-piece power horse will release their label debut, Maleza, on May 14. To celebrate the announcement, the band releases the video for their raw and fuzzy new track “Agitar”. Watch below, and stream the single here .
The band comments their signing to Century Media Records: “Well, what can we say...? We are tremendously excited to be able to carry on despite the circumstances and a new album and a new label are a delicious start to this new stage of the adventure. This is a reference label, which has given support to many bands that we have grown up with and we can't wait to see our name in the midst of so many others. We hope that the general situation improves and that we can return as soon as possible to the road and to the heat of the concerts and we want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who in one way or another have accompanied us throughout this time.
Fire!”
Paco Fernandez, Label Manager Spain & Portugal: "I met Bala in Colombia back in 2018 and they immediately caught my attention. I followed them for months and it didn't take long before I realized that they had something really unique . The blend of influences, the energy of their live performances and the relentless raw attitude gets leaked in their timeless music.
