Germany's Beyond The Black have shared a live video of the song "Human", which was filmed in Oberhausen in 2022. Check it out below.
After the release of their very successful self-titled album Beyond The Black, which was released in January 2023 the band followed up with a deluxe edition of their album. The deluxe edition features three bonus tracks “I Remember Dying (Stranger Reprise)”, “Wide Awake (Piano Version)”, and “Raise Your Head (String Version)”. BTB has also released their brand new video for “Raise Your Head (String Version)”. Their Dancing In The Dark tour starts in April 2024.
Jennifer Haben comments about the deluxe edition:
"How quickly time flies. It’s been a year since the release of our 5th studio album Beyond The Black. We are very pleased that we can now give our fans a special gift for its anniversary with the digital deluxe edition including 3 exceptional bonus tracks."
Jennifer Haben states about “Raise Your Head (String Version)”:
"From the bottom of my heart, in my opinion, this bonus ‘String Version’ is one of - if not THE best bonus song we’ve ever released. 'Raise Your Head' is a call to everyone who feels trapped in their lives and is looking for a way out. It's a reminder that we are all capable of breaking free from societal expectations and forging our own path. If only we have the courage to look behind the illusions and ‘raise our heads’."
Pallbearer have released their new album, Mind Burns Alive, via Nuclear Blast Records. To mark the release of Mind Burns Alive, the band has unveiled a video for the title track, which was directed by Dan Almasy, who has created all of the videos for the album.
“This album is for everyone who has ever felt overcome by life’s negative turns, for those who have watched people you care about degrade into the shadows of themselves, for those who search for something to believe in, and come up wanting,” vocalist/guitarist Brett Campbell shares. “This world is hard; it will eat you up, and we must lift each other up in order to make it through.”
Pallbearer kick off their “Temporary Spaces" North American tour on June 6, with a European trek, joining Baroness and Graveyard, following later this year. Three additional European festival performances were previously announced: The Copenhell Metal Cruise (Copenhagen to Oslo) from October 25 to 27, Hell’s Ball Belgium (Kortrijk) on November 10, and Helldorado in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) on November 16. All ticketing links can be found at pallbearerdoom.com.
Chicago’s Avernus has signed to M-Theory Audio. The atmospheric doom/death metal band are legends in our minds and armed with a solidified lineup and a crushing new album we intend to cement their legacy. New video for “Nemesis” is available below and the song is now available on all streaming/download platforms.
“’Nemesis’ is a song that reacts to the gross neglect and indifference towards that neglect of Earth. We have polluted to no end, and we continue making a mess of things wherever we are,” explains drummer Rick Yifrach. “In the end, the Earth has the last laugh, because she will survive humanity's ravaging, while we will continue to bury our dead in the very mess we make, the rotten soil.
“Trying to capture the feel of the idea of the song, we knew that we would need the right videographer with the right set of skills to capture this correctly…enter Alex Zarek. We had a lot of fun making this video with Alex. Shot beautifully in a bit of a strange circumstance on location, Alex understood the direction of what we were going for and captured the correct shots,” says guitarist Erik Kikke.
“Nemesis” is a long-awaited return for Avernus, as their last official recording was released 21 years ago while their sole official album release, ‘Of the Fallen’ goes back even further to 1997. Still when the core foundational members (vocalist/guitarist Rick McCoy, guitarist Erik Kikke, guitarist James Genenz and drummer Rick Yifrach) regrouped to create new music our curiosity and excitement grew and as you’ll hear with “Nemesis” this is the most mature, dismally emotional and best Avernus have ever sounded.
And “Nemesis” is just one song, albeit it almost 10 minutes long, from a forthcoming new album, Grievances featuring 10 new compositions (an 11th song found on the 2LP vinyl set is a bonus re-recorded early demo song). The pre-order for that limited-edition (300) black ash colored vinyl pressing or CD on Bandcamp.
Tracklisting:
“Calling The Void”
“Nemesis”
“Exitus”
“Plateau”
“The Burning Down”
“Return To Dust”
“Open Arms (To The Apocalypse)”
“Utter Euphoria”
“Abandoned”
“Quietus”
Phil Collins classic "In The Air Tonight", released in 1981, has been given the swing treatment by Postmodern Jukebox vocalist Robyn Adele Anderson and her band. Check out this new rendition of the song, performed live and in one take, below.
In the video below from AXS TV, released in March 2023, Phil Collins talks with Dan Rather about his first solo hit single, "In The Air Tonight", a track that's received revitalized attention in pop culture in recent years, largely due to its iconic drum solo.
Thomas Zwijsen is back with another acoustic guitar cover, this time giving The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes” a classical fingerstyle arrangement.
Thomas says: “‘Behind Blue Eyes’ was released by The Who in 1971 as a single for the Who's next album, written by Pete Townshend. Famous covers were done by Limp Bizkit, Within Temptation, Paula Fernandes, Sheryl Crow and many more.”
IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain performed reimagined versions of some of the band's classic songs with The Massed Bands of His Majesty's Royal Marines on March 8 at this year's 52nd Mountbatten Festival Of Music (MFM) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. Nicko played his kit, named Legacy Of Royals, for the piece "The Maiden Legacy" — a medley of the heavy metal band's most popular tracks: "The Trooper", "Wasted Years" and "Run To The Hills". Professionally filmed video of his appearance can be seen below.
On March 5, during McBrain's rehearsals with the Royal Marines Band Service at HMS Temeraire in Burnaby Road, Nicko told The News about how his involvement with the event came about: "Well, let's see, 2020, the year that we don't talk about, it was the 50th anniversary of the Mountbatten Festival, and I was in attendance as a guest… And it just came about that … the people that I met there at the event, they said, 'Oh, it'd be nice to…' 'cause it was THE PRODIGY, who did the halftime after the interval. And I was absolutely amazed at it. I thought, 'There's these guys playing PRODIGY. It's brilliant.' So that was where the idea came about. And they said, 'Well, what would you like to do next year?' And I was very honored and humbled, and I immediately agreed."
Asked how the rehearsals had been going up until that point, Nicko said: "Rehearsals have been great. Sunday was a bit of a — how do I say it? Very nervous. Because of my circumstances, my right hand doesn't work very well, so I was very, super nervous about that. We got through the rehearsals really well, and then it was, of course, time to come in yesterday with the full orchestra. And my goodness, the north wind does blow right behind me. It blew me away. The power and the sound of these great musicians and a hundred-piece orchestra jamming MAIDEN was just a joy to behold. I wanted to actually stop and listen to 'em, but I can't do that. It's been wonderful."
Nicko played a special kit made just for these shows, created by The British Drum Company. Stu Warmington, international sales manager for BDC, said: "For this kit, we've put different designs of MAIDEN's mascot Eddie as marines through history on each of the drums, from 1664 right up to the present day, so we've got the Yomper, at the battle of Trafalgar and so on. After the shows it's going to be put up for auction for the Royal Marines Charity."
The Mountbatten Festival Of Music is a major source of fundraising for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines charities and the Young Lives vs Cancer charity and takes the audience on an exhilarating ride through the world of music, often premiering spectacular new arrangements and compositions, unique to this event. When combined with traditional military marches, music from the big screen, superb solo items, all accompanied by spectacular lighting effects, the Mountbatten Festival Of Music has packed out the Royal Albert Hall annually for over 50 years.
Nicko's drumkit is being sold at auction to raise money for the Royal Marines Charity and the Grand Order of Water Rats Charity.
McBrain suffered a ministroke in early 2023 and has been recovering ever since.
When Nicko first went public with his stroke in August, the drummer said in a statement that the episode left him "paralyzed" down one side of his body and "worried" that his career with the band was over.
Four years ago, McBrain was diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer and opened up about it in a single interview in 2021 but otherwise kept it mostly under wraps. The musician received his cancer diagnosis after undergoing an endoscopy at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University Of Miami Health System and the Miller School of Medicine. Within a week, McBrain's cancer was surgically removed and he now gets check-ups every few months to make sure the cancer hasn't returned.

Las Vegas-based rockers Crash Midnight have premiered their new music video for “Dead Aces”. In conjunction with the video release, Crash Midnight has also announced a show at The Sand Dollar Downtown in the Plaza Hotel & Casino.
Vocalist Shaun Soho spoke to BraveWords’ Nick Balazs about the video and all things happening in the Crash Midnight camp.
BraveWords: Describe the process of putting together the "Dead Aces" video and why did it take so long considering this isn't your most recent single release?
“We had so many great fans out here sending us videos they'd shot at our shows that we came up with a concept of using some of that footage for a music video. Dead Aces was originally written in homage to all the cool bars and venues we used to hang at back in Boston so we thought it'd be interesting to have the video be like a "flash forward" to where we are now, going through all our spots here in Vegas. It took a while to collect all that footage at a level of quality that was decent enough to make it work for something like this. Luckily, in the meantime I guess they've come out with some programs that can sharpen up older footage and make it look a lot better, so I think that worked out in our favor and made the video better in the end despite the wait. It also gives our fans all over the world a chance to get a taste of the energy of a Crash Midnight live show ...and maybe that puts them over the top to book a trip to Vegas.”
BraveWords: You have a huge show coming June 29th at The Sand Dollar - what can fans expect to see and hear?
“We're officially announcing the show today alongside the music video debut. Getting back to The Sand Dollar Downtown here in the Plaza Hotel has been something we've had in the works for a long time now. We're working on a long-term series over there, but there have been some hurdles with scheduling something of that scale so in the meantime, we just said f*ck it, let's do a big headline show and get the ball rolling into the summer here. We're inserting two of the new songs we're recording right now into the set – ‘Too Far Gone’ and ‘Toxic Propaganda’. Should be cool for fans to get their first chance to hear those. In general, we really do like to play each new song live a bunch for people to get some feedback on how the song is working or you know, going over with the crowd and give us a chance to tighten it up. We've also got our favorite rock station KOMP 92.3 and morning DJ, Gooch, on board for this one. Gooch will host it and you'll be hearing a bunch of ads and ticket promo giveaways on KOMP throughout the month of June. In support is going to be this cool band Double Wide that our bass player, Drake, discovered out here. Looking forward to seeing what they bring too.”
BraveWords: How is the rock 'n' roll scene in Las Vegas and how would you compare it to other scenes?
“The Vegas music scene has been great to us. Coming from Boston where you had to scrape and scratch to build a fan base one person at a time, taking that same approach out in Vegas helped us earn a rock-solid following much more quickly out here. There are a ton of real rock fans in Vegas whereas, maybe Boston was more fragmented with the hipsters, college kids, and all that stuff. Here we have a huge number of people that are really into what we're doing. Then you add on how supportive the venues, booking agents, and radio stations, like KOMP, have been to us and it really does feel like you're part of a family out here.”
BraveWords: The creative juices are flowing - when can fans expect a new track?
Shaun: “We're about halfway through recording our next single ‘Too Far Gone’ and we've demo'd out about three more singles so it should be a busy summer. We ended up coming up with a great process for getting multi-tracked demos together so the recording process seems to be even smoother these days. Hoping to have about seven songs completed through that demo process over the summer and that should make the actual recordings go a lot faster instead of having to figure out anything on the fly in the studio. To the shock of all involved, we already have the artwork completed for the next five or six songs, which puts us in the unfamiliar position of being terrifyingly ahead of the game on that end too.”
BraveWords: Anything else you'd like to say about the band?
Shaun: “Vegas fans and those flying in for the show June 29th at Sand Dollar Downtown at the Plaza Hotel & Casino can get their tickets now at crashmidnight.com - we made it simple for everyone trying to order tickets five drinks deep at the bar, it's the first thing that pops up when you open the site. Also, we like how this video turned out so much that we're going to keep filming at these shows so if you come on out, you might end up seeing yourself on the next video. Doors are at 7:30pm tickets are $15 advance and $20 at the door (not including taxes and fees). There's also free parking with validation at the bar, which is pretty cool for this town. We'll see you all there!”

Countless Goodbyes, the modern metal powerhouse from Pori, Finland, unveil their brand new single "Paralyzed". This powerful new track follows their recent singles "Room Without Walls" and "Hollow", further showcasing the band's dynamic energy and emotional depth through a seamless blend of modern metal and metalcore elements. Watch the accompanying music video for "Paralyzed" below.
"'Paralyzed' delves into the overwhelming feeling of losing control, reflected in the urge to run without direction. It explores the mental burden that has cornered you over time, leaving no clear escape. As your mind becomes paralyzed, you begin to act mechanically, with routine turning into a curse," vocalist Onni Kivikaarre explains.
The track was created in collaboration with an exceptional team, including mix and mastering by award-winning producer Henrik Udd, renowned for his work with Bring Me The Horizon and Architects, post-production by Joakim Karlsson of Bad Omens (US) and choir arrangements by Kat Marsh and Choir Noir, adding a profound depth to the track.
Former SKID ROW singer Erik Grönwall joined veteran Swedish hard rockers EUROPE on stage earlier tonight (Thursday, May 23) at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden to perform the latter band's song "Cherokee". Fan-filmed video of his appearance can be seen below.
Grönwall took to his social media to share a few photos from Gröna Lund, and he included the following message: "Thank you @officialeuropetheband for having me. It was an honor sharing the stage with you for a few seconds! And what an incredible show you guys did on your home turf."
This past March, Grönwall — who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021 — announced his departure from SKID ROW. He said at the time that he decided that the travel and rigors of the road were not conducive to his overall health and recovery, and he wanted to focus on a lifestyle that is more amenable for his well-being, healing and family.
SKID ROW's longtime friend Lzzy Hale (HALESTORM) handled lead vocals for two of the band's concerts last weekend.
The SKID ROW members said in a statement that they are "proud of what they have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years" and "wish nothing but the best to him and his health. To celebrate the last two years, the band will be releasing a live album that perfectly captures this moment of time in the band's 35-plus-year history, to be announced soon."
Grönwall, who was a member of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T. for nearly a decade before exiting the group in October 2020, announced in September 2021 that he was cancer free after receiving a bone marrow transplant one month earlier.
Grönwall sang on four H.E.A.T. studio albums — "Address The Nation" (2012),"Tearing Down The Walls" (2014),"Into The Great Unknown" (2017) and "H.E.A.T II" (2020).
In September 2021, just four months before he joined SKID ROW, Grönwall released his new cover version of "18 And Life" via all streaming platforms.
In 2018, Grönwall debuted in the U.S. for 10 million viewers in NBC's live broadcast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Tim Rice's musical "Jesus Christ Superstar". Along with John Legend, Alice Cooper, Sara Bareilles and others, Erik played the key role of Simon Zealotes.
In January 2022, Grönwall told Headbangers Lifestyle about beating cancer: "Some anonymous wonderful human being somewhere in the world donated his/her blood cells so that I could get a second chance at life. Sometimes I can just get tears in my eyes when I think about it. It's so beautiful that one person who is not connected to me in any way wanted to do that for me. He/she doesn't know that the blood cells were for me. It's completely anonymous."
In late March 2022, SKID ROW released its first single with Grönwall, "The Gang's All Here". The song is the title track of the band's latest album, which arrived in October 2022 via earMUSIC.
SKID ROW played its first show with Grönwall on March 26, 2022 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada as the support act on the rescheduled dates for SCORPIONS' "Sin City Nights" residency.
Thank you @officialeuropetheband for having me. It was an honor sharing the stage with you for a few seconds! And what an incredible show you guys did on your home turf.
Swedish high-energy rock 'n' roll legends THE HELLACOPTERS have released a new single called "Stay With You", their first new original song since the release of their triumphant, chart-topping comeback album "Eyes Of Oblivion" in April 2022.
And unsurprisingly, "Stay With You" picks up exactly where the band left off two years ago. It's a no-bullshit action rock stunner that cuts right to the chase and yet again the band has delivered a stylish music video to be released alongside, which was directed and edited by Emil Klinta.
"Stay With You" is out today on all streaming platforms. The song will also be available as a limited seven-inch single via Lightning Records. The B-side contains a cover version of "Fire In Cairo" by THE CURE.
THE HELLACOPTERS' Nicke Andersson (guitars and vocals) commented: "We're in the middle of recording our new full-length album which has no date of release just yet. In the meantime, we're very excited about the release of our new single, 'Stay With You'. It was originally intended to be included on the upcoming LP but we decided to do a BEATLES and release it as standalone track with a B-side. 'Stay With You' is a straight-up minor key rocker and it's backed with our interpretation of THE CURE's 'Fire In Cairo'. We hope you dig."
THE HELLACOPTERS released their eighth studio album titled "Eyes Of Oblivion" in April 2022. It marked the first full-length since the release of their temporary farewell record "Head Off" in 2008, and was met with massive acclaim from fans and media alike. Charting at No. 1 in Sweden, No. 3 in Germany, No. 6 in Finland, the band celebrated a triumphant return culminating in a show with the mighty IRON MAIDEN in Gothenburg in July 2022, and gigs with GHOST in Germany in June 2023. In February 2024 their beloved classic album "Grande Rock" was re-released on physical formats, featuring a re-worked companion piece with additional guitar, piano and vocal tracks called "Grande Rock Revisited".

NONPOINT has unveiled a new single, "Underdog", along with an accompanying official music video. According to a press release, the song embodies the spirit of perseverance, urging listeners to embrace their underdog status and defy expectations.
NONPOINT frontman Elias Soriano states: "Being the underdog doesn't mean you're defeated; it means you have more room to surprise everyone with your resilience and determination."
The music video, directed by Drew Johnston, complements the song's empowering message and can be seen below.
In a recent interview with DJ Force X, Elias confirmed that he and his NONPOINT bandmates were working on a full-length studio album after focusing on a series of EPs over the last couple of years. He said: "It's been three years since we put out a full-length; we'll be tapping on four years here shortly. So, for us, it's just time. It's time for us. We normally put — year after year, there was constantly music coming out, and I feel like with the EPs, we got a chance to fool around with some styles and play with some themes and entertain our fans outside of the normal NONPOINT brand. And I think now it's time to kind of pull it in and put a body of work together that people ask for from our group.
"We're creators, and we're constantly creating, so we're sitting on a ton of music," he explained. "It's just about which ones kind of work together and kind of fit together and we wanna finally put together into a body of work."
Soriano also discussed NONPOINT's decision to launch its independent record label 361 Degrees Records LLC after working with other record labels for most of the band's two-and-a-half-decade-plus career. He said: "Yeah, it's a workload. It's definitely a workload. You got the creative side and the administrative side and juggling it both is about putting people that you trust and putting at least some sort of plan and even a small team behind things that need to be recirculated back into the brand and checked on and nurtured, like our socials or like our merch store and things like that. So, we definitely try to get some sort of administrative plan and team behind those certain things so that way they're kind of running on autopilot. So that way, when we wanna do grand things within the label plan, it's easy for us to do and take on those projects within the label."
After DJ Force X applauded the "DIY" nature of running an independent record label with no external pressure, Elias clarified: "There's definitely really no outside influence, but I wouldn't call it just DIY, because I have to give credit where credit's due. We have people that we've brought on that we work together. We see the value in the NONPOINT brand. And where we see that we can grow and we wanna scale, we lean on professionals and get advice and get plans and get things calendared so that way we have a finish line that we try to aim at. And I think that, being smart with your team, being smart with your plan is paramount to surviving, especially today."
Last December, Soriano told "Cutter's Rockcast" about the decision to work on a full-length album next: "I think we've kind of felt out the crowd, felt out the fans in our independence right now and have just a clear mind of what we feel like we wanna do that is not only gonna connect with us, but we feel like will translate to the fans. Just fooling around with some different styles, some riskier things that we've really held back, when we were either with the label or just concentrating on writing a certain type of song versus just writing a song."
Last July, NONPOINT released a new single, "A Million Watts", via 361 Degrees Records. The track, which was produced by Chris Collier, who has previously worked with KORN and WHITESNAKE, among other bands, was the third single from NONPOINT's latest "Heartless" EP, which came out in November. The EP was made available digitally and as a limited-edition cassette along with a NONPOINT-branded cassette player.
Three years ago, NONPOINT launched 361 Degrees Records and filmed the process, along with documenting the making of new music, in a docu-series titled "A Path To Independence" that can be seen on the band's YouTube and official web site.
In December 2021, NONPOINT released its previous EP, "Ruthless". This followed their independent label plan of delivering music to their fans through more frequent releases and videos from the band.
NONPOINT's songs "Bullet With A Name", "Alive And Kicking", "In The Air Tonight", "Circles", "Your Signs", "Everybody Down" and many others have been featured in trailers, hit movies, television, iconic video games, as well as broadcasts from NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WWF.
NONPOINT has toured with major acts like DISTURBED, PAPA ROACH, MUDVAYNE and SEVENDUST, to name a few. They have also been featured on the main stages and support stages of iconic festivals like Soundwave, Rock Am Park, Rock Am Ring, Ozzfest, Rock On The Range, Welcome To Rockville and many more.
