SATAN'S FALL Drop "Afterglow" Single And Music Video

Finland is well-known as a country where metal talent abounds, and Satan's Fall, from Helsinki, is no exception. Today, the band presents the second single from their upcoming album Destination Destruction, accompanied by a music video. The song is called "Afterglow" and is one of the faster, more melodic tracks off the new album.

Guitarist Tomi Mäenpää: "'Afterglow' is easily one of the catchiest tracks on the album, both in terms of melody and delivery of the song. It reflects well how far we have come as composers and as a band. We think listeners will like it a lot! Once again we had the pleasure and honor to shoot the video with our trusted man Esa Jussila who is behind our previous videos."

The music video was directed, shot and edited by Esa Jussila. The album was recorded and mixed by Lassi Tiainen and mastered by Mika Jussila.

Satan's Fall are not the first band from Helsinki to set out on a triumphal march around half the (metal) globe. For many years, the Finnish capital on the southern tip of the country has been considered a melting pot for talented bands and musicians with the stamina to survive even the hardest of times.

After the release of their debut album, Final Day, in December of 2020, the pandemic, of course, made all tour plans redundant. However, Satan's Fall, the five-piece surrounding vocalist Miika Kokko, guitarist Tomi Mäenpää and bass player Joni Petander, hasn’t lost its idealism, as a matter of fact, quite the opposite. Following a lineup change that saw Ville Koskinen join on as new lead guitarist and Arttu Hankosaari take the drummer’s seat, the Nordic quintet sounds more impressive than ever before.

An even stronger album than the first, Destination Destruction features eight powerful metal songs and two bonus cover tracks.

The album will be available from Steamhammer/SPV on November 3 in the following configurations:

- CD DigiPak (incl. poster)
- 12" LP, 140 g, black vinyl, printed inner sleeve, poster
- Download / Streaming

Pre-order here.

- Exclusive 12" LP (solid white) and CD/LP Bundle with T-shirt only at the Steamhammer shop

Pre-order here.

FOGHAT Release "I Don't Appreciate You" Single And Music Video

Foghat have released the new single, “I Don’t Appreciate You”, which comes from their first new studio album in seven years, Sonic Mojo. This record is an eclectic blend of originals and some band favorites, and as the band declares, it is “blues infused, with a healthy dose of rock n’ roll and a bit of country, too.”

The song is out now on all digital outlets and the video can be seen below:

Sonic Mojo is exactly what Foghat will be bringing to their loyal legion of fans on November 10 in the form of their 17th studio album - their first in seven years - on the band’s label, Foghat Records, which is distributed by Select-O-Hits (part of the Sun Records family). It will be available as a single CD with 12-tracks and a six-page gatefold cover, as well as an 11-track, limited edition 180gram, purple neon vinyl.

Digital pre-orders are now available here (including CDs available on Amazon), while CD and vinyl (including autographed copies) and merchandise bundles are available to pre-order here.

From the opening notes of their 1972 self-titled classic, to their bombastic multi-Platinum gem, Foghat Live, to 2016’s slide guitar soaked Under The Influence and right on through to their upcoming album, Sonic Mojo, Foghat has always been about the music. Music played loud. Music played live and music played that makes you want to move.

On Sonic Mojo, founding member, drummer and leader of the pack Roger Earl is joined by stalwart guitarist, engineer and co-producer Bryan Bassett (Wild Cherry, Molly Hatchet), fun-loving, low-end thumper, fan favorite bassist Rodney O’Quinn (Pat Travers Band), and on lead vocals and guitar, Scott Holt (Buddy Guy) who has been the singer/guitarist of the band’s recent side project Earl & the Agitators since 2015. In typical Foghat fashion, there are a few surprises included on the album as well.

Three songs on Sonic Mojo have special meaning for Roger Earl, as they were co-written by Kim Simmonds, the man who gave Roger his first break back in 1967 as a member of Savoy Brown. Sadly, shortly after writing these songs, Kim passed away.

The first of the three Kim Simmonds co-writes, “Drivin’ On,” is the debut single from Sonic Mojo. Vocalist/guitarist Scott Holt smiles as he proudly sums up what this bluesy rocker means to the band, “A song like ‘Drivin’ On’ celebrates the swamp funk blues of Slim Harpo and the cosmic boogie of John Lee Hooker.” Part blues, part ZZ Top and part Foghat this tune is destined to become a live, fan favorite.

“She’s a Little Bit of Everything” (also co-written by the late Kim Simmonds), just like Foghat’s classic “Slow Ride” that starts off with nothing but a drumbeat, followed by fuzzy guitar and, just like that famous song, this one also celebrates woman, albeit in a totally classier way! The third Simmonds co-write is the most emotional of bunch. “Time Slips Away” penned when Kim was terminally ill, delivers a strong message that is both beautiful and emotional.

Kim isn’t the only surprise on Sonic Mojo, however. Roger has a famous brother named Colin Earl, most known for the song “In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry. Together, the two brothers and the rest of the band created the most unique tune on the album titled “Wish I’d a Been There.” The song is an ode to country music legend Hank Williams.

Foghat does country? Well… sort of, but not really. This fun song shows that this band, even after 50+ years of making music, isn’t afraid of trying something new. And…like everything else they’ve tried, they do it well.

Sonic Mojo also sees Foghat tip their hat to great artists that came before them, as well as giving plenty of winks and nods from the current lineup. While there are songs on the album written by Willie Dixon, (“Let Me Love You Baby”), B.B. King (“She’s Dynamite”), and Chuck Berry (“Promised Land”), Foghat shows they can still boogie with the best of them.

Elder statesmen, and band leader, Roger Earl has played with enough of the greats to know when he’s in good company. “I love playing and working with this band. During my almost 60-year music career, I have had the honor of playing with some really great musicians. Lonesome Dave, Rod Price, Craig MacGregor, Erik Cartwright, Nick Jameson, Tony Stevens and Jeff Howell to name some that have graced this band. Many have sadly passed, some have retired or moved on, but I have to say that the current lineup has been one of the most inspirational for me, personally. Writing with Scott and Bryan has come easy. Words and ideas just seem to fall out at any time and another song is in the works. And Rodney’s input and bass playing has been invaluable. We are a band in every sense of the word.”

Adds Scott Holt, “I feel like Sonic Mojo is a perfect addition to the Foghat cannon. For over 50 years, this band has been a celebration of the varied art forms and genres that were created in this country. The pillars of Blues, Country, Soul, R&B and Jazz are woven into the fabric of this band at the molecular level. Sonic Mojo is a Rock & Roll audio mojo hand. We convened our spirits and went down to the crossroads at midnight and put some Mississippi dirt, black cat bones, and moonlight into the bag, Kim Simmonds donated some soul, the spirit of Dave, Rod and Craig were the essence that created the supreme funk that is the finished product. A soulful expression, an offering at the altar of Rock & Roll.”

“Making a record is an emotionally and physically draining experience,” Holt continues. “As an artist you disengage every other part of your being and focus on the art…the task at hand. You don’t record like it’s going to live forever, but you know it’s going to live forever. You forget to eat, to drink, you don’t sleep or rest until you’ve got your part correct, and then you rethink it until it’s pronounced “finished.” (You’ll always hear the part that you doubted, even after someone tells you that’s their favorite part.) This record was made under battle conditions. Roger was drumming with one good arm and would keep recording until the pain was too much…and then do another take.”

Roger Earl tore a tendon in his shoulder while shoveling snow after an intense blizzard at his New York home in January 2022. After spending most of that year looking for a qualified surgeon, while touring relentlessly and starting to record Sonic Mojo, he finally had surgery in December with a doctor who specialized in sports shoulder injuries. Because he knew he would not be able to play up to his standards for a while after surgery, Roger laid down all the drum tracks for Sonic Mojo in the couple of months before the surgery, enduring a lot of pain, but doing whatever it took to get the music right. Guess that’s why they call it the Blues!

Formed in 1971 when Lonesome Dave Peverett and Roger Earl left the British blues-rock band, Savoy Brown, Foghat has earned eight Gold records, one Platinum record and one double-Platinum record.  They continue to release new music every few years, and they’ve never stopped touring and recording although there have been several ups and downs and changes over the years. They sadly lost Lonesome Dave Peverett in 2000, Rod Price in 2005, and Craig MacGregor in 2018, but Roger Earl keeps banging and kicking to keep Foghat’s musical legacy going.

GO AHEAD AND DIE Release "Drug-O-Cop" Music Video; Unhealthy Mechanisms Album Available Now

Arizona death-crusters, Go Ahead And Die, have released their sophomore album, Unhealthy Mechanisms, via Nuclear Blast Records. A torrential whirlwind born from the livid minds of Igor Amadeus Cavalera (Healing Magic) and Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy). This new instalment to the band's dystopian catalog is a fresh dive into the madness of society and the pollution that ravages our minds.

In celebration of the new album, the band delivers an outpouring of raw vision in the form of the track, "Drug-O-Cop". The single is the perfect mashup of gritty pissed-off punk angst and extreme metal. Check out the RoboCop parody that features Igor Amadeus and Max as corrupt cops.

Max Cavalera states, "Igor and I are looking forward to bringing Go Ahead And Die on the road to the fans. We tackled mental health topics that are often taboo and have added to the corruption of civilization. I consider this to be the gnarliest record I have ever collaborated on.”

Igor Amadeus Cavalera comments, "'Drug-O-Cop' is an old-school punk song to its core. Heavily inspired by the late 70’s and 80’s d-beat scene. One of my favorite songs on the record and a big middle finger to the abuse of power acted out by police forces around the world.”

Unhealthy Mechanisms was produced by Igor Amadeus Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the recording in his Platinum Underground Studio steeped in the mystic ambiance of the Superstition Mountains’ foothills. The mixing and mastering were once again handled by Arthur Rizk (Cavalera, Soulfly, Turnstile ).

For the artwork, the band enlisted Santiago Jaramillo of Triple Seis Design to create the unnerving design that fits with the album title. Go Ahead And Die's newest record is a testament to declining mental health around the world, and a reminder that we are not alone in our pain. The mind is lost. The fuse is lit. Time to set everything ablaze.

Erik details his situation further in the new video below:

The new tour dates will now take place in March 2024, the fourth leg of The Gang’s All Here Tour in December with Buckcherry is still scheduled as planned.

To those who have purchased tickets, we kindly ask for your patience as all tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Refunds will be available for those who cannot attend the rescheduled shows. Thanks for your understanding and continued loyalty. You are truly the best!" - Snake, Rachel, Scotti, Rob, Erik

NARCOTIC WASTELAND Releases New Music Video For Single “Sex, Lies, & DNA”

Exploring dark truth, along with spewing relentless death and thrash riffs, renowned metal band Narcotic Wasteland, led by the talented Dallas Toler-Wade (ex-Nile) unleashes their latest music video for their chilling new single entitled "Sex, Lies & DNA" featuring guest vocals from Andrea_N_Black. Showcasing the band's signature intense sound, with haunting lyrics, the video delves into the intriguing world of true crime.

Directed by bassist Kenji Tsunami, also of Tsunami Films, the video was shot at various locations during the band's summer tour across the USA and Canada.

"This video has some real grit to it... One of the venues we played at on the tour had an electric chair and a really creepy green room area that looked like a place where someone could be murdered. At that point, the band was like this is perfect! It fits the concept of Sex Lies and DNA. I am very happy with how the song and video turned out, and I cannot stress enough how proud I am of this band and this video!" adds Toler-Wade.

Captivating audiences with its thought-provoking themes and powerful instrumentation, "Sex, Lies & DNA" will be on the band's forthcoming third full-length Digital Cordyceps out on Megaforce Records in 2024 (release date TBD).

An impressive lineup of talented musicians whose synergy produces an electrifying sonic experience, Narcotic Wasteland features Dallas Toler-Wade on guitar and vocals, Brett Lee on lead guitar, Joseph Howard on drums, and Kenji Tsunami on bass.

In additional news, Narcotic Wasteland will be headlining the Beer & Metal Fest in Wichita, KS on October 27, which will feature 20+ Breweries along with musical support from Imajjjin, Parthian, and Suffocate the Skies.

HYPERIA Streaming Video For Title Track From Upcoming The Serpent’s Cycle Album

Mosh your way to the forest of thrash where the Coven awaits for you to join "The Serpent's Cycle", the latest music video for the title track from Vancouver, BC's Hyperia forthcoming third full-length out on November 17.

"This is the first song that was fully written for the album. It is a heavy and unrelenting track that encompasses everything Hyperia is about - intricate guitar work, heavy-hitting bass, fast drums, and wailing powerful vocals, a perfect title track to show what the album is all about," adds the band.

Hyperia's new thrash attack The Serpent’s Cycle marks a new era for Hyperia. This album has some of the most aggressive thrash metal the band has ever written paired with lots of melodic vocal and guitar work along with a new invigorating lineup that welcomes Ryan Idris on drums and Jon Power on bass to join husband and wife Colin and Marlee Ryley. It consists of everything Hyperia stands for shred, speed, and intricacy.

Hyperia wants fans to have their faces blown off by The Serpent’s Cycle. The ten-track album (plus a cover of Heart's “Crazy On You”) will be appreciated by musicians and non-musicians alike. The songs vary enough to keep the pacing fresh throughout and there’s something for everyone on it.

When it comes to live performances, Hyperia takes pride in making them memorable and thinks the visual aspect is equally if not more important than the music. Especially with thrash metal, they want to create a party atmosphere - when all of them are having a genuinely fun time on stage they think it encourages the audience to go hard too. This energy is conveyed through The Serpent’s Cycle, which is recommended for fans of Havok, Municipal Waste, Lost Society, and Children Of Bodom.

Preorder on Bandcamp.

DUFF MCKAGAN Shares Music Video For 'I Just Don't Know' Featuring JERRY CANTRELL

Duff McKagan has released his third solo album, "Lighthouse", available now in a wide range of formats including streaming, download, CD, cassette, and LP. A number of deluxe versions and bundles featuring official Certificates Of Authenticity signed by McKagan are also available. In addition, two webstore exclusive vinyl variants – "Transparent Green & "Black Marble" and "Black Velvet" – of the deluxe packaging are on offer, including three lithographs, a 12-page booklet, a sticker, and a guitar pick, all enclosed in a transparent PVC sleeve allowing interchangeability of the graphics displayed on the album's cover. "Lighthouse" — as well as an exclusive line of brand-new "Lighthouse" merch — is available now at www.duffonline.com.

Duff says: "Some of the fruit of my musical travails and triumphs are now available for mass listenership with the release of 'Lighthouse'.

"Over the past fifteen or so years, I've delved into a songwriting area that seems to me, harkens back to my punk days in the simplicity of the chords, and trying to tell truths in the lyrics.

"Like the name of my and [my wife] Susan's radio show, I let 'Three Chords And The Truth' guide me when I sit down with a guitar.

"From the beginning song 'Lighthouse', a sort of illumination of goodness and hope, to the ending track 'I Just Don't Know'…where there is a pondering of what is next, my thought process of the songs that fill in the rest of the album is there is an arc of a story.

"I am a huge reader of good books, and like a good novel, I tried for some rises and falls from beginning to end, lyrically at least.

"I absolutely love my new studio in Seattle and realize I am a fortunate dude to have my own place to constantly create. I'm even more fortunate to have producer Martin Feveyear as my guide and mentor.

"We had that period of the pandemic, where it was just Martin and I in the studio for months on end. These 10 songs on 'Lighthouse' are just the beginning of what we finished song-wise in this time. More to come on that…..but for now, we hope you enjoy this record."

"Lighthouse" sees Duff McKagan baring more of his artistic spirit than ever before, fusing acoustic elements with hard-edged rock 'n' roll to land at the sweet spot between soul-searching reflection and pure energy. The album was first announced earlier this summer alongside its title track, "Lighthouse", joined by an official visualizer streaming now at the official Duff McKagan YouTube channel.

"Lighthouse" was soon followed by "I Saw God On 10th Street", also joined by an official visualizer streaming now. "I Saw God On 10th Street" received immediate praise from such outlets as Kerrang!, Revolver and American Songwriter.

"Longfeather", the latest single from "Lighthouse", arrived next, hailed by Revolver as "folky, elegiac" and joined by an official music video — directed by longtime visual collaborators Connor Ellmann, Kuj Durollari and Arben Durollari — streaming now on YouTube. A new video for the song "I Just Don't Know (Feat. Jerry Cantrell)" is now streaming on YouTube as well.

For more than 40 years, McKagan has been an unstoppable creative force, spanning a multitude of bands, tours, collaborations, and writings. Now, with his long-awaited new solo album, "Lighthouse", the veteran musician proves to be, at his heart, a gifted singer-songwriter with a distinctive knack for authenticity and introspection.

In 2019, McKagan opened his own recording studio, allowing him a long-hoped-for opportunity to "finally explore songs that I may have written the night before or some of those old riffs from years ago. This is a big deal for me." He spent much of the next two years working with longtime producer/collaborator Martin Feveyear (Mark Lanegan, Brandi Carlile),chipping away at a series of intensely personal new songs.

"Lighthouse" now marks the first full-length collection born in McKagan's studio. Songs like "Hope" (featuring veteran Paul McCartney drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. and melodic lead guitar from Slash) and the philosophical "I Just Don't Know" (featuring contributions from McKagan's longtime friend, Jerry Cantrell of ALICE IN CHAINS) see McKagan baring more of his artistic spirit than ever before, fusing acoustic elements with hard-edged rock 'n' roll to land at the sweet spot between soul-searching reflection and pure energy. The 11-song collection is further highlighted by an additional take on the title track, "Lighthouse (Reprise)", joined by the one and only Iggy Pop.

McKagan first unveiled his new music earlier this year with "This Is The Song", a three-song EP honoring Mental Health Awareness Month alongside a call to action on Propeller. The EP — which was met by critical applause in Rolling Stone, Consequence Of Sound, Loudwire and American Songwriter, to name just a few — includes the deeply moving title track, "This Is The Song", joined by an official companion video streaming now on YouTube.

Starting at just 15, McKagan has been a part of such diverse and influential bands as THE VAINS (1979),THE FASTBACKS (1980),THE LIVING (1982),THE FARTZ (1982),10 MINUTE WARNING (1983) and LOADED (1998),along, of course, with his historic role as founding member of both GUNS N' ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER. Produced by three-time Grammy Award winner Shooter Jennings, McKagan's 2019 second solo album, "Tenderness", marked a powerful new chapter for the ever-evolving artist, taking on societal ills and his own personal transgressions against a rich sonic backdrop of Americana-fueled arrangements. Named by Loudwire as one of that year's "50 Best Rock Albums" and hailed by Rolling Stone in a three-and-a-half (out of four)-starred rave as "an album full of beauty and heart…It's music of conscience, heavy songs with a light touch," the album includes the volatile rocker "Chip Away", which earned extraordinary praise from the maestro himself, Bob Dylan, who recently declared the song a personal favorite.

"There's a Duff McKagan song called 'Chip Away' that has profound meaning for me," Dylan told The Wall Street Journal. "It's a graphic song. Chip away, chip away, like Michelangelo, breaking up solid marble stone to discover the form of King David inside. He didn't build him from the ground up, he chipped away the stone until he discovered the king. It's like my own songwriting, I overwrite something, then I chip away lines and phrases until I get to the real thing."

Along with his prolific musical efforts, McKagan is The New York Times best-selling author of 2011's "It's So Easy: And Other Lies" and 2015's "How To Be A Man: (And Other Illusions)", and the co-host (with Susan Holmes McKagan) of SiriusXM's popular "Three Chords & The Truth" radio show on Ozzy's Boneyard (Ch. 38). McKagan currently serves as a core member of a modern-day "Wrecking Crew" alongside Grammy Award-winning musician/producer Andrew Watt and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Chad Smith, recording and co-writing on such recent albums as Ozzy Osbourne's "Ordinary Man" (2020) and two-time Grammy Award-winning "Patient No. 9" (2022) and Iggy Pop's acclaimed "Every Loser" (2023). What's more, McKagan — with Watt, Smith, and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Josh Klinghoffer — is part of the recently unveiled IGGY POP & THE LOSERS lineup, who made a high-profile televised debut earlier this year with an electrifying performance of the feverish "Frenzy" on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

PLAGUEMACE Release "Rhythmic Demise" Single And Music Video

Neck-bending Danish death metal band, Plaguemace, impresses with the brutal soundscapes of their second single, “Rhythmic Demise”, off of their upcoming debut album, Reptilian Warlords, out November 17 via Napalm Records.

Formed in 2020 in the heart of Denmark, Plaguemace released their convincing EP, Primal Priest, in November of the same year. Throughout their first year of performing live, Plaguemace delivered high energy shows at their several headlining gigs and opened for bands like Baest, Katla and Crocell. In spring 2023, Plaguemace toured the UK in support of their new labelmates Nervosa, and took over European stages as support for death metal legends Left To Die.

Plaguemace is one of the most promising bands of the new generation of old school death metal, and there is no doubt that fans of bands such as Grave, High on Fire, Entombed and Obituary will enjoy their new offering. Watch the official music video for “Rhythmic Demise” for another taste of what’s to come.

Plaguemace on “Rhythmic Demise”: "‘Rhythmic Demise’ is a midtempo gutpunch of a song dragging itself across the cavefloor in a steady, yet intrusive manor. The song is about the poisoning of the cavedwelling barbarians, which makes them dance eternally."

Plaguemace’s thrashy death’n’roll is spiced up with brutal breakdowns and infectious grooves as witnessed on the album opener “Cannibalicious”. The brutal soundscapes on “Rhythmic Demise” impress, before the track fades out into “Warcries from the Crypts”, where trumpet and trombone add to the threatening atmosphere. Catchy title track “Reptilian Warlords” kicks off with metallic soundscapes, with groovy rhythms carrying competent death metal vocals and skillful guitarwork. Closing track “Carnivore” attacks immediately, as low growls are joined by contrasting screams, and bombastic melodies lead the album to its end.

Plaguemace on Reptilian Warlords: “Reptilian Warlords is the first in a series of concept albums taking place in our own fictional universe. The story has been torn apart chronologically, and will be put together throughout this, and the following releases. So stay tuned to find out what happens next. The themes of Reptilian Warlords include ANGER, VENGEANCE, DESIRE, WAR and ENRAGING BLOODTHIRST.”

Reptilian Warlords will be available in the following formats:

- CD Digisleeve
- 1LP Gatefold Reptilian Green
- Digital Album

Ex-FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Guitarist JASON HOOK's FLAT BLACK Shares Music Video For 'Justice Will Be Done'

FLAT BLACK has shared the official music video for another new song, "Justice Will Be Done". You can now check it out below.

FLAT BLACK is the new band formed by ex-FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Jason Hook. He is joined in the group by singer Wes Horton, bassist Nick Diltz and drummer Rob Pierce.

In an interview with Jake Daniels of the Rock 100.5 The KATT radio station conducted at last month's Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, Hook stated about how FLAT BLACK came together: "Well, I was pretty hell-bent on starting a new band. Music's in my blood. It's a part of my DNA, and I just knew that… I didn't really care how long it took. It just had to be potent. And so, one [musician] at a time… I found Rob first, and he's awesome. And then, of course, Nick; he's from Los Angeles. All my guys are just stellar players. And I wanted to have a good pack of songs. And so here we are."

Regarding the importance of getting along with his bandmates on a personal level, Hook said: "Well, it was a bit of a prerequisite to find guys that were mentally stable and free of drama and that we could hang. It's all about the hang. When you're on tour, you're stuck in this submarine, this rolling submarine, for 18 months. It's important that everyone is compatible. The personalities, I wanted to be very specific about that this time around… We're getting along great."

In August, FLAT BLACK released the official music video "Halo". "Halo" and the other previously released track "It's Your Lack of Respect" will appear on FLAT BLACK's debut album, which will arrive in early 2024 via Fearless Records. The LP, produced by Hook, was recorded at both Hook's home studio and The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas.

"I feel like FLAT BLACK is a secret I've been keeping for three years," Hook previously said. "It's finally time to unleash this band on the world."

Having left his prior band in February 2020, which was right before COVID-19 put the entire world on pause, Hook wanted to assume creative control and let his musical free spirit soar in a project that was truly his. He opted to gamble on himself. With great risk comes great reward and the decision to form FLAT BLACK clearly worked out in his favor.

"As a musician, I crave freedom and I wasn't ready to stop creating," Hook shared.

"Life is short," he continued. "We all want to feel satisfied and happy with what we are trying to accomplish in life."

The pandemic shutdown allowed him the opportunity to assemble the right musicians and carefully craft their debut album. FLAT BLACK is armed with an arsenal of riffs that'll rattle your teeth loose from your gums, stadium-sized hooks, arena-ready anthems, and choruses that are guaranteed to touch a nerve. All of those factors combined make FLAT BLACK poised for success.

The origin stories of the rest of the players are indicative of a lifelong love of music and plenty of road-worn experience. The desire to play courses through their veins and propels them forward, which is why they all meshed so well with Hook.

Horton was introduced to music at age 13, thanks to his sister and Guitar Hero. He honed his vocal chops by playing in local bands and making online videos. Various music industry friends and acquaintances would become the connective tissue between himself and Hook. Horton knew he wanted to be a frontman, and FLAT BLACK afforded him that opportunity. Wes loves the fact that his bandmates prioritize songcraft — and that allows him to be the singer he has always wanted to be.

Diltz, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, is the son of a legendary rock music photographer who brought him to concerts during his formative years. He recalls being inspired by watching a VHS video of U2 performing at legendary venue Red Rocks. Seeing fans clamoring for a piece of Bono in the footage is a vision that never left his head. This first exposure to the power of a true rock icon solidified Nick's destiny as a live performer.

Pierce hails from Nashville, a.k.a. Music City. His dad was a race car driver and his grandfather was a pastor. He grew up racing go karts and at first, wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps until he joined the fourth grade band and was bitten by the music bug. He chose the snare drum over the saxophone and from that moment on, music was the only thing that mattered. Rob got his first drum kit at age 11, which he set up in his dad's car shop. He learned to play his instrument next to 1,000 horsepower engines, which influences his highly energetic style to this day.

The chemistry between the players in FLAT BLACK is palpable. And while FLAT BLACK's songs are built to take up real estate in the brains of fans for weeks at a time, the true nature of the band's material is meant to be experienced live. FLAT BLACK are now ready to hit the road and bring these brutal bangers to the masses live and in the flesh.

FLAT BLACK made its live debut on August 24 at the FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California as the support act for GODSMACK.

FLAT BLACK is:

Jason Hook - Guitar
Wes Horton - Vocals
Rob Pierce - Drums
Nicholas Diltz - Bass

In October 2020, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH confirmed that it had officially parted ways with Hook eight months earlier during the band's sold-out European arena tour. He has since been replaced by renowned British virtuoso Andy James, who made his recording debut with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH on "Broken World", a song that was included on the second installment of the group's greatest-hits collection, "A Decade Of Destruction - Volume 2".

After his recovery from emergency gallbladder surgery at the end of 2019, Hook had to leave midway from FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's tour of Europe to address further complications.

Jason, who joined FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in 2009, said about his exit from the band: "As for the reason I'm leaving… well, there really isn't just one. I've been in bands my entire life and I feel like I've done all the good that I can here. It's time to pass the baton and move on to new challenges."

Canada's AGGRESSION To Release Frozen Aggressors Album In December; Music Video Posted For First Single "Circus Of Deception"

December 1 will see Canadian thrash metal masters, Aggression, return with their sixth studio album, titled Frozen Aggressors. The band's new offering will be released as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats through Massacre Records, the pre-sale is now available here.

A music video for their first single, "Circus Of Deception", is now streaming below.

Says guitarist and vocalist, Denis "Sasquatch" Barthe, about the song: "A little bit of an unusual topic for Aggression: social studies!! I think that conceptually, I wanted to write about failed relationships and sometimes individuals expecting different outcomes while not changing anything about themselves. Everyone is responsible or should be accountable for failed relationships or a friendship fallout. Not learning through the process is the biggest obstacle to improving your life. Musically, I wanted to recreate the vibe from our first record Forgotten Skeleton (1986) and add memorable guitar riffs through the process. It's got to be catchy and memorable so that's what we attempted here."

Frozen Aggressors brings the listeners back to the golden era of thrash, where every song was a unique experience. The new album promises to propel Aggression in its right due place amongst other Canadian thrash legends. Frozen Aggressors was mixed and mastered by Dan Yakimow at Northview Studios, the cover artwork was created by Stephanie White of Artistry Fartistry.

Edmonton’s DEGENERATOR Feat. ALL ELSE FAILS, Ex-STRIKER Members Release “Eternalism” Video

Buckle up for a relentless journey into aggressive alt-rock as Edmonton's sonic titans Degenerator, unveils their latest creation, The Abyssal Throne. Led by Barrett Klesko (All Else Fails) on vocals, guitar, and bass, along with drummer Jonathan Webster (Pass of Era, ex-Striker), this highly anticipated debut release takes listeners on an exhilarating ride through stoner, sludge, grunge, and goth rock, pushing the boundaries of alternative music.

The first single is “Eternalism”, which Klesko comments on:

“Time slips away fast. Aggression and melody. Balance the darkness. This was the first song crafted for the album, and it captures the essence of the album, both musically and lyrically. I am exploring the conflict between being stuck in the past and living only in the now. It starts fast, hits hard, but carries a depth of melody and thought that goes beyond a standard set of 4/4 metal riffs and faux melancholia.”

Klesko describes the project as a journey to unleash the noise that was haunting his mind. He aimed to capture the essence of the old Smashing Pumpkins, with their distorted and fuzzy guitars, while infusing a touch of gothic darkness that adds a unique and appealing layer to their sound.

Both Klesko and Webster boast prolific careers in the international music community, contributing their talents to bands such as Striker, All Else Fails, The Order of Chaos, Tyler Dory Trio, and more. Together, they form a musical powerhouse that combines their expertise into an extraordinary sonic tapestry.

The Abyssal Throne is more than just an album; it's a testament to the unyielding creativity and dedication of two musicians driven by a shared passion for sonic exploration. It is recommended for fans of Baroness, Type O Negative and Alice In Chains.

The Abyssal Throne is due out November 24, 2023. Preorder on Bandcamp.

Tracklisting:

“Eternalism”
“Finality”
“The Day That Never Comes”
“Darkness Prevails”
“Neurotonic”
“The Children Of The Night”
“Hiraeth”
“The Spiral”
“Heart Like A Hole”
