Watch: IRON MAIDEN Performs 'Alexander The Great' Live For First Time At 'The Future Past Tour' Kickoff

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN kicked off their "The Future Past Tour" earlier today (Sunday, May 28) in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

"The Future Past Tour" features previously unperformed songs from the band's most recent studio album, "Senjutsu", along with a focus on 1986's "Somewhere In Time" LP, plus other classic cuts.

IRON MAIDEN's 15-song set at the 12,000-capacity Arena Stožice included the live debuts of "Days Of Future Past", "The Time Machine", "Death Of The Celts" and "Hell On Earth" from "Senjutsu", along with "Alexander The Great" from "Somewhere In Time".

The setlist was as follows:

01. Caught Somewhere In Time (first live performance since 1987)
02. Stranger In A Strange Land (first live performance since 1999)
03. The Writing On The Wall
04. Days Of Future Past (live debut)
05. The Time Machine (live debut)
06. The Prisoner (first live performance since 2014)
07. Death Of The Celts (live debut)
08. Can I Play With Madness (first live performance since 2014)
09. Heaven Can Wait (first live performance since 2008)
10. Alexander The Great (live debut)
11. Fear Of The Dark
12. Iron Maiden

Encore:

13. Hell On Earth (live debut)
14. The Trooper
15. Wasted Years

Asked in a radio interview a number of years ago why IRON MAIDEN had never played "Alexander The Great" live, singer Bruce Dickinson answered, "Because Adrian [Smith, guitar] can't remember the guitar solo." While Dickinson may have been joking, he did go on to say that, when the song was originally written, they put the solo through a load of then-very-advanced music computer wizardry, and it just couldn't figure out the time signature.

"Senjutsu" came out in September 2021. It marked MAIDEN's second consecutive double album behind 2015's "The Book Of Souls" which is the longest MAIDEN album, with a running time of 92 minutes.

IRON MAIDEN's first album in six years, "Senjutsu" was recorded in 2019 in Paris with longstanding producer Kevin Shirley and co-produced by bassist Steve Harris. It features three tracks whose running time exceeds 10 minutes each.

For "Senjutsu" — loosely translated as "tactics and strategy" — the band once again enlisted the services of Mark Wilkinson to create the spectacular Samurai-themed cover artwork, based on an idea by Harris.

"Senjutsu" bowed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, charting higher than even the band's early classics like "Powerslave" and "The Number Of The Beast". Nearly 90 percent of the LP's 64,000 equivalent album units earned came from pure album sales. The critically acclaimed double album debuted one place higher than 2015's "The Book Of Souls" and 2010's "The Final Frontier", which both peaked at No. 4.

"Senjutsu" was MAIDEN's 13th album to top in the Top 40 in the U.S.

TRIPTYKON Performs CELTIC FROST Set At Rock Hard Festival 2023; Pro-Shot Video Of Full Show Streaming

Triptykon, led by Tom G. Warrior (Celtic Frost, Hellhammer) performed a full set of Celtic Frost classics at Rock Hard Festival 2023 on May 26th. Check out the pro-shot livestream below.

The setlist was as follows:

"Into the Crypts of Rays"
"Visions of Mortality"
"Dethroned Emperor"
"Morbid Tales"
"Procreation (Of The Wicked)"
"Return to the Eve"
"Nocturnal Fear"
"Circle of the Tyrants"
"Visual Aggression"
"Suicidal Winds"
"The Usurper"
"Jewel Throne"
"Dawn of Megiddo"
"(Beyond The) North Winds"
"Necromantical Screams"

In late 2022, Tom G. Warrior was a guest on BraveWords' Streaming For Vengeance recently and the Celtic Frost legend talked about the mega Danse Macabre box set which captures the radical ambition and evolution of the band from 1984 through to 1987. Here is an excerpt from our chat.

BraveWords: Arguably, people say that the artwork for To Mega Therion is one of the greatest in metal history. Explain how you got the rights and acquired it. Did you have to pay Giger money, or what was the deal?

Warrior: "Well, Martin (Ain) and I had pored over H.R. Giger's Necronomicon (originally published in 1977), his oversized, standard work constantly. It was basically our bible, we looked at it literally every day. And of course we loved the Satan 1 painting. When we wrote to him in late '83, when I wrote to him in my little letter, handwritten letter, we mentioned that painting and said if it's at all possible, would it be possible to do a collaboration with this painting? And to our astonishment he actually responded. He called us and his then wife also called us, who did his administration at the time, and we began to have regular phone calls, we began to have regular letter exchanges. It was of course before email and so on, and he told me on the phone one day that he had just finished what he called The Red Phase, a series of paintings in red paint, and he said his favourite painting of the series is the only one that hasn't been published yet, and he said, 'If you're agreed to also use that red painting (called Victory III) that I love so much, and put it also on the album, I'll give you the Satan 1 for free'."

BraveWords: Wow.

Warrior: “For us being total nobodies, and not even having been sure if he would even talk about Satan 1 for us, the offer of two Giger paintings was jaw dropping, really. Of course we said yes, and it was an honour for us to also publish the red painting, Victory. The big obstacle to this was to talk the record company into financing a gatefold album so we could have both artworks."

BraveWords: That must have been a huge battle.

Warrior: "It was. Because again, the record company didn't really realize that this was a sensation, that Giger was actually collaborating with this little Swiss band. But we managed to convince them and the rest is history, I guess."

BraveWords: How do you think the catalogue has aged over time? When you were creating it, and this is a very general question, did you feel like you were creating something special?

Warrior: "We didn't look at it so globally, we looked at it much more privately, much more intimately. We didn't create to make an impact, we created because we had something inside of us that screamed to be let out, probably based on the conditions of our upbringing, of our youth. Both Martin and I, and also Steve Warrior from Hellhammer, we all had quite a difficult youth, and I think the music we created was a reflection of that. So, we didn't want to leave an impression, we really, first and foremost, it was a very personal thing. What it achieved afterwards was of course out of our hands, and I'm hugely grateful for having found an audience, and the audience being true to me for such a long time. That's a gargantuan gift. As for your question about how the catalogue has aged, well Celtic Frost was a very ambitious, courageous, and daring band, and we did a lot of experiments. Some of those worked and have aged quite well, some of those failed miserably and have aged accordingly. But that comes with the territory. If you try to reinvent yourself on every album, you're bound to sometimes hit a wall. Not that that's an excuse, we should have been more diligent I guess, in some of the albums, especially me, but live and learn. I think the first three albums, Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion, Into The Pandemonium, have aged very well. The last one, Monotheist, so far has also aged very well. The others, there's an album that is unbearably bad and there's an album that's basically irrelevant. It's okay, but it's irrelevant in that catalogue. That's my personal view of it."

HYPOCRISY Live At Wacken Open Air 2022; Pro-Shot Video Available

After 18 years, Swedish melodic death metal pioneers Hypocrisy finally returned to Wacken in 2022. Check out pro-shot video of "Eraser", "Chemical Whore" and "Roswell 47" below.

In November 2021, Hypocrisy released their 13th studio album, Worship, to massive acclaim from fans and media, ending up in the top ranks of many year’s poll lists and scoring some of their highest chart results to date.

Promoted on the band’s most extensive live cycle since ages, tracks like "Chemical Whore", "Children of the Gray" were very well received by their following, alongside such classic tracks as "Roswell 47", "Inferior Devoties", "Fractured Millennium" and "Eraser".

Hypocrisy toured the States, performed at festivals like Wacken, Summer Breeze, Maryland Deathfest, Alcatraz  to name but a few, played a highly successful European tour, and finished 2022 with an unforgettable trip to South America before launching 2023 aboard the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise.

But now, Hypocrisy and Nuclear Blast Records have started the first, and definitely not the final chapter, of a catalogue campaign bringing back all their legendary past records, some of which are much sought-after rarities.

“Chapter One” begins with classy vinyl and CD editions of Penetralia (1992), Osculum Obscenum (1993), The Fourth Dimension (1994), and Abducted (1996) on May 5.

Documenting the evolution from the violent and utterly morbid Masse Broberg fronted first two records, the much-revered opus The Fourth Dimension that showed a darker and more melodic approach until Abducted,  which includes live staple "Roswell 47", this first phase of Hypocrisy’s career laid down the groundwork for the Swedes trademark sound.

The 2023 reissues feature all original art with a few careful touchups - the band logo on Penetralia was for example never meant to be pink/purple - and preserve true death metal classics in an astonishing form that have been unavailable especially on LP for far too long.

Get ready to revisit one of the most consistent and dynamic discographies in the genre!

Order the following formats here, or here.

- Penetralia (Reissue 2023) Gatefold LP, CD
- Osculum Obscenum (Reissue 2023) Gatefold LP, CD
- The Fourth Dimension (Reissue 2023) Gatefold 2LP, CD
- Abducted (Reissue 2023) Gatefold LP, CD

APOCALYPTICA Share Performance Of "Burn" From Tuska Utopia 2020; Pro-Shot Video Available

Cello metallers Apocalyptica have shared their performance of "Burn" from Tuska Utopia 2020. Check out the pro-shot video below.

The song is taken from the band's Worlds Collide album, released in 2007.

"The collaborations don't stop!," begins a message from Apocalyptica issued back in March. "We captured our performance of 'Rise Again' with Simone Simons of Epica in London. Check out the performance and then come out to one of our remaining tour dates and if you're lucky we'll perform it together for you!"

In support of the start of the second leg of their successful European tour, Epica and Apocalyptica teamed up for a unique collaboration on the atmospheric ballad, "Rivers", that they recorded live during the first leg of the Epic Apocalypse Tour, at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live in front of more than 5,000 fans.

“To play with these legendary musicians on our biggest indoor show in the Netherlands was a dream come true “, comments Coen Janssen and Mark Jansen adds: “To perform with Apocalyptica added an extra layer of pure magic to the song. Not only are these guys great musicians but also on a personal level, we match very well with these lovely people. Therefore, it was particularly special to perform ‘Rivers’ with them and we are very proud to present you the result of this collaboration in the form of our live performance.”

SABATON Guitarist TOMMY JOHANSSON Shares Cover Of THE PROCLAIMERS Classic "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" (Video)

Sabaton guitarist / Majestica frontman Tommy Johansson has shared his solo metal cover of the The Proclaimers classic, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". The song is taken from the album Sunshine On Leith, released in 1988.

Sabaton's final EP in the Echoes Of The Great War EP trilogy, entitled Stories From The Western Front, is now officially available on all platforms and features a never-heard-before cover of Motörhead's well-known track, “1916". Stream Stories From The Western Front here.

In celebration of this final EP, the band has also unleashed a brand-new music video for “1916” filmed in Birmingham, England, and at Britain’s famous Black Country Living Museum. The music video features an overload of historical characters from the Sabaton lore, a headbanging metal army from Birmingham, and even a cameo from the living members of Motörhead - Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell. Watch the music video below.

The Western Front was one of World War I’s main theatres of conflict. It stretched across more than 400 miles through France and Belgium from the Swiss border to the North Sea. It was a deadly place, and to put things into perspective, at least four-million men died there, although the true figure can never be confirmed.

The Stories From The Western Front EP tells stories of those who fought and fell on the Western Front, a place where the trenches and the ceaseless shelling drove men to insanity. Often, those who returned from this treacherous place did so with shell shock and chronic nightmares, PTSD or injuries that changed their lives forever.

“We are excited to release the last EP in the Echoes of The Great War series as well as a new music video, which we had a blast filming in the UK. Our new EP tells the tales that came from the Western Front, a brutal and unforgiving theatre of war. The Battle of Verdun, which was the longest battle of the First World War, the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917 in Flanders, the Battle of the Somme… these are all things we should not forget,” explains Pär Sundstrom. “And through this EP – in fact, through this whole EP collection – our sole mission has been to immortalize these stories and ensure that these are at the forefront of everyone's minds.

“Speaking of the Battle of the Somme,” Pär adds, “this conflict resulted in a huge loss of human life – around 300,000 fatalities. It was one of the bloodiest and deadliest conflicts of WW1 - and in human history! This is what “1916” was written about, and that’s why it was the missing puzzle piece of this EP.”

Meanwhile, Joakim Brodén shares more information about the band’s cover of Motörhead: “We believed that ‘1916’ was the perfect fit for this EP, not only because it’s related to the First World War, but because we just love everything about the song. Lemmy was inspired to write this track after watching a documentary about the Battle of the Somme. The lyrics are emotionally charged and perfectly describe the experiences of all the young soldiers, most of whom were essentially just kids. A lyric that really moves me and hits home is: ‘We were food for the gun, and that’s what you are when you’re soldiers.’ I can’t get that out of my head.”

“We think we did this song justice. It’s our tribute to one of the greatest bands in the world and a nod to those who fought in the First World War and made the ultimate sacrifice!” he notes.

With each EP in the Echoes Of The Great War trilogy, Sabaton is releasing an exclusive digipak in limited numbers. They often sell out immediately, so if you want one for your collection, be quick!

Tracklisting:

"1916"
"Great War"
"Hellfighters"
"The Price of A Mile"
"Fields of Verdun"
"Race To The Sea"
"Devil Dogs"

SIGNS OF THE SWARM To Release Amongst The Low & Empty Album In July; "Tower Of Torsos" Music Video Posted

After dropping standalone single "Amongst The Low & Empty" last month, Pittsburgh deathcore unit Signs Of The Swarm is back today to reveal their upcoming fifth full-length of the same name: Amongst The Low & Empty will be unleashed via Century Media Records on July 28.

To coincide with this announcement, the band has dropped a new single from the record, "Tower Of Torsos". The video (directed by Joey Durango) can be seen below.

Drummer Bobby Crow comments about the single: "We wanted to bring the old school, in-your-face vibes of our favorite OG deathcore bands - with a fresh spin. We endearingly call it psycho-music. It's something of a continuation of what we started with 'The Collection,' musically, while the lyrical core is about doing whatever you must to come out on top. If you caught us on the road with Whitechapel recently, this one should be familiar to you!"

Vocalist David Simonich adds: "Mike and I were BINGING the hell out of the 'Hannibal' show while writing lyrics. It definitely pulled out our inner psycho, especially for this one where we wanted to paint a repulsive picture of a person chasing the idea of becoming god. The path to ascend is only to kill and build a monument of misery: his tower of torsos."

Regarding Amongst The Low & Empty, Crow explains: "'Amongst The Low & Empty' is more than just a title; it's also a feeling or state of mind. The phrase first came up in the lyrics of our last album, 'Absolvere', and became a driving force for our band ever since. When it came time for us to enter the studio with Josh Schroeder last November, 'Low and Empty' resonated in a very special way with the band. We had just completed well-over a year of non-stop worldwide touring and had to finalize an album we barely had time to wrap our heads around. We were literally low (energy) and feeling empty (of ideas). I still marvel at what we pulled off primarily in under a month (with a few extra days later to add the album's penultimate closing duo).

"If it weren't for the ideas flying around Josh's special studio, that time could have kept me feeling low and empty. I was very alone, locked away writing the music - we'd only come in with somewhere between 4-5 songs - with the only break from my strained and drained thoughts and ideas being visits from Schroeder to check in and add his genius.

"David and Michael wrote lyrics in another room, with the prose spewed forth balancing the beauty/beast meter, with Dave's recognizably rabid voice bringing it back to Signs when I'd push our sound boundaries (soundaries?). I'd always ask myself, 'How can we make this moment feel beautiful and terrifying at the same time?' Fortunately, the lyrics' grace contrasted gnarly subject matter to achieve and elevate that goal. It's kind of like the art of the album - serenely calming yet brutally when you truly take it in - inverted; musically we're brutal up-front with the beauty underlying.

"This album breathes a new sense of life into Signs of the Swarm that was much needed. We're grateful for and proud of our previous works and the platform that they have provided us over the last 10 years, but 'Amongst The Low & Empty' is a true and pure representation of each member's current creative and performative abilities that elevates the passion and confidence of the band tenfold."

Pre-order Amongst The Low & Empty here, where the album is available in the following versions:

- Jewelcase CD
- Gatefold black LP
- Gatefold aqua colored LP - USA retail exclusive
- Gatefold transp. light blue-black marbled LP - EU retail exclusive
- Gatefold white-dark blue marbled LP - Signs Of The Swarm exclusive
- Digital album

Produced by Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, King 810, Tallah, Varials), Amongst The Low & Empty is the first Signs Of The Swarm album to feature an outside producer. Massive, unapologetic and unrelenting in its assault, this fifth full-length keeps listeners on the edge of their seat. Songs like the title track, "Pray For Death" and "Malady" put to shame the slamming "br00tality" of sophomore LP The Disfigurement of Existence, with vocalist David Simonich's animalistic growls and screeches outdoing any swarm, pack, or otherwise, found in the wild. Despite the savage brutality, the leader of this herd IS the structure that is simultaneously more rigid yet more explorative, complete with a catchy groove underneath - the likes of which hasn't been heard from Signs Of The Swarm. It's the bedrock that allows "Tower of Torsos," "DREAMKILLER" and "Pray For Death" to be as catchy as they are. Songs like "Shackles Like Talons" and "Fire and Stone" split the difference incisively. On the more cacophonous side, industrial flirtations were added both in-studio by band and producer, and beyond, with Joshua Travis (Emmure, Glass Cloud, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza) and Cameron Losch (Born of Osiris) throwing riffs and ruckus into the mix ("At one point, Joshua Travis was recording a chainsaw in his backyard," the band reveals). Trivium mastermind Matthew K. Heafy even sent over a guest shout for "The Witch Beckons".

The resulting 11 tracks are so destructively deafening, it blew out Josh Schroeder's subwoofer! "We've always been a deathcore band," states Bobby Crow, the quartet's longest-standing member, who serves as drummer and main songwriter. "But this record is a lot MORE - it's got death metal, metalcore, djent, some industrial stuff...We wanted to make something that was just heavy."

Amongst The Low & Empty tracklisting:

"Pray For Death"
"Borrowed Time"

This weekend, Signs Of The Swarm wraps up their Mexican tour, before hitting Toledo Death Fest next week. Upon album release, the band will play several special shows in the US, then head overseas for the summer; European fans can catch them at some of the biggest festivals, in addition to co-headlining off-dates with Humanity's Last Breath and more. To finish off the season, Signs Of The Swarm will trek to the UK for a headliner with To the Grave and Harbinger.

DANKO JONES Releases "Good Time" Single; Official Music Video Streaming

Toronto rockers Danko Jones have released "Good Time", the second single from their forthcoming album, Electric Sounds, out September 15. Watch the official music video below, and get the song on digital services, here.

Danko Jones: "We quietly finished the album while everyone wasn't looking, and we can't wait for you to hear the rest of the tracks very soon."

With Electric Sounds, Toronto’s archbishops of amplification prove that even a global pandemic couldn’t stop Danko Jones.

“Not working for two years really felt like touring rock bands were being put out to pasture,” recalls Danko. “But I guess that only made us try harder. We were still able to record and release an album during the pandemic (Power Trio, 2021). We toured as soon as we were allowed. Now that Electric Sounds is getting released, it doesn’t feel like we missed a beat. During the pandemic, we moved away from each other. JC lives in Finland and Rich lives in Prince Edward Island. So the writing for this band has changed. We used to bash out ideas in our rehearsal place, day after day, but it’s more about sending files back and forth now. However, last summer, while on tour, we did manage to jam out ideas in a rehearsal room in Berlin for a few days. Out of those jams came the nubs for five songs...”

Five songs have since been expanded to eleven new Danko Jones songs, and Electric Sounds promises to have the instant sound and feel of a classic. With no need to reinvent the wheel, the group have further honed and refined their craft - always at full volume - although Electric Sounds is a deceptively diverse affair. No band has ever sounded more ready to hit the road than the pumped-up threesome showcased on the hell-for-leather ragers featured on their forthcoming album.

Electric Sounds was produced by Eric Ratz, and features guest spots from Tyler Stewart (Barenaked Ladies), Damian Abraham (Fucked Up) and guitarist Daniel Dekay (from Canadian thrash legends Exciter).

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of METALLICA Performing 'Blackened' In Paris During 'M72' Tour

Professionally filmed video of METALLICA performing the song "Blackened" at the third show of the band's "M72" world tour on May 17 at Stade De France in Paris, France can be seen below.

The trek, which launched in late April in Amsterdam, sees the band playing two nights in every city it visits — with each "No Repeat Weekend" featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The "M72" tour features a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the "I Disappear" full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age.

METALLICA launched the first Paris show with "For Whom The Bell Tolls", marking the first time that song has opened a METALLICA concert since February 2016. The group's 16-song set also included three new songs from the "72 Seasons" album: "Lux Æterna", "Screaming Suicide" and "Sleepwalk My Life Away".

The setlist was as follows:

01. For Whom The Bell Tolls (first time as show opener since February 5, 2016)
02. Ride The Lightning
03. Holier Than Thou
04. I Disappear (tour debut)
05. Lux Æterna
06. Screaming Suicide
07. Fade To Black
08. Sleepwalk My Life Away
09. Orion
10. Nothing Else Matters
11. Sad But True
12. The Day That Never Comes
13. Blackened (tour debut)
14. Fuel
15. Seek & Destroy
16. Master Of Puppets

Opening acts include Floor Jansen, EPICA, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, ICE NINE KILLS, MAMMOTH WVH, PANTERA, ARCHITECTS, GRETA VAN FLEET and VOLBEAT.

METALLICA promises fans who purchase a two-day ticket that they won't see the same song twice for a total of over 30 songs spanning the band's 40-plus-year career.

Each weekend offers a variety of "Enhanced Experiences", ranging from access to a meet-and-greet, production and stage tour, food and beverage in the "Black Box" lounge to early entry into the venue and the Snake Pit. The very popular "Black Laminate" is back, now known as the "I Disappear Ticket", and is the ultimate pass for the fan who wants to run away with METALLICA for multiple weekends.

A single "I Disappear" ticket purchase gives you access to as many of METALLICA's 46 headlining tour dates across Europe and North America in 2023 and 2024 as you choose. You decide how many shows you'd like to attend around the world, and for how long, and METALLICA will make it as easy as possible.

According to Billboard, "72 Seasons" sold 146,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marks the band's 12th Top 10-charting album, of which eight have reached the top two.

"72 Seasons" had the biggest week for any rock or hard rock album since TOOL's "Fear Inoculum" arrived in September 2019 with 270,000 equivalent album units.

"72 Seasons" was released on April 14 via METALLICA's own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, it is METALLICA's first full-length collection of new material since "Hardwired…To Self-Destruct".

Speaking of the album-making process, Ulrich explained: "It's one of the only things that hasn't changed in 40 years. There'll be a whole slew of riffs and jams and sound checks, then it falls into my lap to go through them and identify, 'That one's great, that one's good, maybe there's a song over here.'"

Regarding the fact that guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo were given writing credits on more than half of "72 Seasons", Hetfield told the Associated Press: "All four guys were on the floor when we were writing, which is new for us. Usually it's just Lars and I sitting out there hashing it out. It felt really great to have the energy of all four. There's a lot more democracy on this album. Lars and I gave up the steering wheel a little more than usual."

Hammett agreed, saying: "It was much more collaborative. The attitude was just more open. There is less limitations on everyone's creativity and I think that shows."

In the seven years since the arrival of "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", METALLICA has reissued some of its classic albums, released a second live album with the San Francisco Symphony, commissioned a covers album featuring the likes of GHOST, VOLBEAT, WEEZER, Corey Taylor and THE HU, and landed on the Billboard songs chart with "Master Of Puppets" after a prominent placement in the hit Netflix show "Stranger Things".

Las Vegas’ CRASHING WAYWARD Release “Closer” Video

Coming off the musically powerful and evocative single “Breathe,” Las Vegas-based modern rock band Crashing Wayward—vocalist Peter Summit, guitarists Stacey David Blades and David Harris, bassist Carl Raether, and drummer Shon McKee— share the music video for their new single “Closer”.

Powered by Summit’s striking voice, multiple guitar textures and gripping fast-paced rhythm, the song “speaks to relationships—specifically unhealthy, addictive romantic relationships,” explains Summit. “It focuses on the obsession someone might have and also to the awareness that this might not be the right place for that person.” Watch the video, which captures the band’s onstage dynamism, below.

“Closer” is one of many highlights on the band’s debut album LISTEN! that’s due out June 9 on the RFK Media label. The 11-track album was produced by heavy hitter Mike Gillies, whose credits include a long tenure with Metallica as well as studio work with Mötley Crüe and The Cult. Lyrically poetic and musically illuminating, Crashing Wayward paints a landscape that stretches beyond alternative hard rock and explores the diverse influences of each of its band members,

“There are four strong songwriters with all different types of influences, so this creates a unique sound,” says Blades. “From a guitar standpoint, David Harris plays a lot in open tunings which gives the riffs a very different vibe along with my mainly Drop D tuning. When you put the guitar parts together, they are very different. Added to that is Carl Raether’s powerful bass lines plus Shon McKee's fantastic drumming—and with Pete's distinctive vocals and melody lines, you get Crashing Wayward.”

The band came together in the spring of 2020, just when the world seemed to come to a halt. In that stillness, the band grew restless, feverishly writing emotionally fueled songs of hope, inclusion, and escape. The music on LISTEN! represents a cathartic release raw in approach yet refined in tone.

Says Summit about the striking album cover, an image of a woman with her mouth shut and masking tape across it: “The album art was taken during the 'Breathe' photo session, although the concept of ‘No one will be silenced’ has been used in various high-profile projects such as the ‘NOH8’ silent campaign in 2008, which showed celebrities in protest of the 'Proposition 8' banning of same-sex marriage. The intention is to focus on the power in her eyes. ‘See us. Hear us!’ We felt that the title LISTEN! was powerful in portraying both the album's cover and the lyrics throughout the album. LISTEN! speaks directly to life itself touching on topics of Intolerance, Mental Health, Suicide, Love, Peace, Loss and Political Unrest.”

Crashing Wayward’s official introductory single “Breathe,” was released in December 2022 and achieved international recognition via Apple Music’s “Breaking Hard Rock” and “New in Rock” playlists, YouTube’s “Heavy Gauge” playlist, and a barrage of media interviews and radio play resulting in #1 status on radio stations in the U.S. and Canada.

Crashing Wayward genuinely pour their soul, blood, sweat, tears, and hearts into their songs and live shows. The album will be available worldwide on CD and all digital/streaming platforms, with the vinyl edition to follow later this summer. Preorder at rfkmediashop.com.

The band recently performed a record release show for LISTEN! at the Viper Room in West Hollywood and will next be seen presenting a very special event merging music, art and more at The Industrial in Las Vegas on July 14 at which they will headline (more details TBA).

TEETH Announce The Biblical Worship Of Violence Canadian Tour; Release “Drip” Visualizer

The volatile powerhouse that is Ontario, Canada’s hardcore/metal quintet Teeth have emerged from the sludge of a foul generation - a vessel whose sole purpose is to create the most assailing, aggressive music imaginable. Born from illegal back-alley shows that resulted in literal fires, Teeth has come off a string of sold-out - and absolutely vicious - headliners while independently amassing over 1 million streams, gaining recognition from metal titans Slipknot and deathcore innovators Emmure. Teeth is just getting started, and they’re playing for keeps.

Today, Teeth have announced they are hitting the road for "The Biblical Worship Of Violence" Canadian tour with Boston hardcore band Great American Ghost. The 11-trek will kick off on July 21 in Hamilton and will make stops in Windsor and Montreal before concluding in Barrie on August 8.

More information and tickets available here.

Dates:

July
21 – Hamilton, ON – Corktown (no Great American Ghost)
28 – Toronto, ON – Sneaky Dee’s
29 – St. Catherines, ON – Warehouse
30 – London, ON – Rum Runners

August

4 – Ottawa, ON – House Of Targ
5 – Montreal, QC – Cabaret Foufounes
6 – Quebec City, QC – L’Anti
7 – Kingston, ON – The Mansion
8 – Barrie, ON – Queens Nightclub

The band also dropped the video visualizer for the track “Drip”.

Resolved to utilize the carcasses of their conquered demons as fodder for a new euphonious weapon, Teeth wanted to create the most ignorant, aggressive-sounding music imaginable. Their latest offering A Biblical Worship Of Violence will be unleashed digitally on May 5th and on vinyl on July 21 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The band states, "A Biblical Worship Of Violence is our ode to the ache of change - a snapshot of a moment in time where we were all going through dark shifts in our personal lives that forced us to see life through the lens of true pain and discomfort. We knew we needed to create something so visceral and honest to articulate what we’d been going through while also giving us the opportunity to speak on the state of this world. Division, compulsion - an intrinsic gravitational pull toward cruelty and brutality. ABWOV is a commentary on human beings darkest, most volatile conventions."

A Biblical Worship of Violence was recorded in the fall of 2020 at Bell Tower Studios. Davis Maxwell and the band were responsible for producing and engineering the record while Lance Prenc handled mixing and mastering. This time around the band enlisted Heavy Sleeper Co to create the album artwork and layout.

A Biblical Worship Of Violence will be available as a red with black splatter vinyl. Preorder/pre-save here.

HAKEN Launch Official Video For "Lovebite" Filmed Live On European tour

Progressive rockers Haken are in the midst of a North American tour in support of their recently released album, Fauna. In March and April, the band performed live in Europe alongside Between The Buried & Me, and today they launch a video for the track "Lovebite", filmed live at their show in Paris, France at Alhambra on March 17th.

The band commented of the current North American run: "We've been having an incredible time out on our North American Fauna Expedition, playing a brand new setlist, visiting cities old and new for us, and meeting fans every night at the VIP experience. It's been a busy year of touring so far but it doesn't end here - with festivals in Europe over the summer and our Latin American Fauna Expedition later in the year there are still many opportunities to see us live!"

Haken has the following dates still to play, before returning to Europe for Summer festivals including: Download, Loudfest, Graspop, Tuska, Arctangent, as well as some select headline shows.

May
25 – August Hall - San Francisco, CA
26 – Hawthorne Theatre - Portland, OR
27 – Neptune Theatre - Seattle, WA
28 – Rickshaw Theatre - Vancouver, BC
30 – The Commonwealth Room - Salt Lake City, UT
31 – Gothic Theatre - Englewood, CO

June
1 – Granada Theater - Lawrence, KS
2 – Fine Line - Minneapolis, MN
3 – Concord Music Hall - Chicago, IL

Fauna sees the band exploring new ideas conceptually as Ross Jennings states, “The premise of the album when we started writing it was that every song would have an animal assigned to it. They all have something related to the animal kingdom that we could write about, but they also connect to the human world. Each track has layers, and some of them are more obvious than others.”

“It reminds me of 'The Mountain',” adds guitarist and fellow founder Richard Henshall. “There, we had the idea of not really a narrative-based album, but more the concept of climbing a mountain and overcoming the obstacles along the way. Then we took that and thought about how it could relate to our everyday lives. All of Fauna’s animals relate to us, personally.”

Fauna also marks the return of keyboard player Peter Jones, whose sounds can be heard permeating the entire album. “What Pete’s brought sonically to the band has played a massive role in why we do have a lot of new sounds on this record,” says Ross. “It’s always a new dynamic when there’s a change in personnel, and this is a fresh and reviving one. It’s certainly helped proximity-wise, with Pete being in the country: Pete and Ray [Hearne, Haken’s drummer] would be at Rich’s place and they’d just start jamming. That’s really key to how the songs start.”

Fauna is available on several formats, including Ltd 2CD (incl. instrumentals), Standard CD, Gatefold 2LP & as Digital Album. The albums stunningly detailed artwork was created by Dan Goldsworthy (Charlie Griffiths, Sylosis).

GRACELESS Issues Video For "This Ends With The World In Ruins"

Graceless has used Artificial Intelligence to create a video for the song "This Ends With The World In Ruins", taken from their 2022 album, Chants From Purgatory.

According to the band, "The song deals with confrontations, religions and other behaviours that will cause the complete destruction of our society. Artificial Intelligence can be one of our potential downfalls, so it seems appropriate to let a machine determine the content of the video. The result is outright eerie, weird, uncanny, intense."

Pre-order for the re-releases of all Graceless albums (including bonus tracks) is available now at this location.

KRASHKARMA Debut "Survive The Afterlife" Music Video

Los Angeles' Krashkarma can easily be described as one of metal’s most accomplished duos. With an impressive track record, which includes over 3 million views on their YouTube channel, over 100,000 followers on Facebook and more than 600 shows performed around the globe, the band is ready to unveil new material with their sixth studio album, entitled Falling To Pieces, coming in June via Rockshots Records.

The band have released this video for the track "Survive The Afterlife":

Looking behind the facts and figures, the band is one of the only few metal duos with a female drummer and vocalist, and a single guitarist/bassist. From behind the drum kit the energetic Niki Skistimas keeps the rhythm rock-tight as she delivers her seductively-charged vocals; meanwhile, guitarist/bassist and co-vocalist Ralf Dietel brings the material to life with his unique Frankenstein guitar/bass creation. Never before have two people created a sound so immense yet so vibrant.

For the new full-length, the duo wrote and recorded at Karma Kollective Studios in North Hollywood, California along with Ralf Dietel taking on producing, mixing, and mastering plus artwork duties. They are a self-producing duo that can be considered a jack of all trades when it comes to everything from creating to presenting their music.

A representation of the universal human experience, where the blending of differences creates something extraordinary, Krashkarma is intense, raw, dynamic, and electrifying. Featuring 12 tracks, Falling To Pieces is a story that will take fans on a journey from start to finish. From the thunderous drum intro and heart-wrenching scream pouring out of Niki Skistimas' whole being, it sets the stage for what's to come. From there, the album takes you on a wild ride! Krashkarma has put a lot of effort into crafting a narrative that's both compelling and epic, with each song building on the last to create a cohesive whole. Along the way, listeners will encounter soaring melodies, crushing riffs, and blistering solos over hammering grooves interplaying with the vocal harmonies between Niki and Ralf that Krashkarma is known for.

"Our fans will absolutely love our new album. It's heavier and better than anything we've ever done before. We are confident that they will be blown away by it. There are all the elements that make our sound our own. Ralf really dove into utilizing every resource available to him to write the most creative riffs and bass lines possible on his prototype guitar/bass instrument, Ms. Frankenstein. We wanted the sound on the record to be as close to how we will play it live as possible and kept that in mind in the recording process. Our fans know we love a good melody and any opportunity to chant together, so there will be plenty of that as well. All the songs represent a significant moment in time for us and we're excited to share them with the world," adds drummer/vocalist Niki Skistimas.

Falling To Pieces is out June 23, and is available to pre-order at this location.

Tracklisting:

"Falling To Pieces"
"15 Minutes Of Pain"
"Survive The Afterlife"
"Tap Dancing Through Minefields"
"Last Rites"

"How God Lost Her Virginity"
"Orphans In Zombieland"
