ANTHONY KIEDIS And DEXTER HOLLAND Were Surprise Guest Performers At Last Night's 'Above Ground' Benefit Concert

Anthony Kiedis (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and Dexter Holland (THE OFFSPRING) were the surprise guest musicians who performed last night (Monday, December 20) at the third "Above Ground" benefit concert founded by guitarists Dave Navarro (JANE'S ADDICTION) and Billy Morrison (BILLY IDOL) at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, California. They joined an all-star bill that included Perry Farrell (JANE'S ADDICTION), Etty Lau Farrell, Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT), Mark McGrath and Franky Perez. The event was host Dr. Drew Pinsky and included an art installation by Risk Rock.

Following previous successful events in 2018 and 2019, while sitting out in 2020 due to COVID-19, the evening celebrated the vinyl album as an art form, with the performance of two seminal albums in their entirety, while at the same time raising awareness and funds for the treatment of mental health. Throughout the event, there was an art installation from multi-talented fine artist, sculptor and graffiti pioneer Risk Rock.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to MusiCares, the leading music charity that acts as a safety net for the music community.

"MusiCares has literally saved more than a few of our friends from dying," said Navarro and Morrison. "Their role cannot be overstated, and we have precious few organizations that actively step in to help people on the brink. On the frontline, finding and paying for beds in treatment, arranging therapy and counseling, and actually speaking up on a public level about the importance of mental health are all reasons why we continue to do what we can to draw attention to this subject."

Navarro and Morrison, with an array of special guests, performed two musically/culturally seismic albums: Lou Reed's 1972 album "Transformer" and THE SEX PISTOLS' 1977 release "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols".

In 2018, the "Above Ground" guest musicians performed 1980's "Kings Of The Wild Frontier" by ADAM AND THE ANTS and the 1967 self-titled album by THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO. In 2019, they tackled David Bowie's 1972 effort "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" and THE STOOGES' 1969 self-titled debut LP.

NANOWAR OF STEEL Release Lyric Video For "Il Signore degli Anelli dello Stadio"

Have you ever wanted to watch Lord Of The Rings characters play football? Chaotic Italian bunch, Nanowar Of Steel, have made it happen. On their single, “Il Signore degli Anelli dello Stadio”, the parody metallers combine their love for the classic J. R. R. Tolkien fantasy with the world’s favorite team sport.

Nanowar Of Steel on the song: "’Il Signore degli Anelli dello Stadio’ (‘The Lord of the Stadium Rings’) is the first epic-football-metal song ever released (at least by Nanowar Of Steel). What would happen if all of a sudden, all the creatures of the Lord Of The Rings had their own football team? And more importantly, which songs would their supporters sing? Nanowar Of Steel has got the answer for you!”

Watch the animated lyric video for “Il Signore degli Anelli dello Stadio”:

Nanowar Of Steel turns to the musical roots of their homeland, bringing heavy new life to traditional Italian music on their new album Italian Folk Metal. Filled with references to Italian folklore, Nanowar Of Steel puts its own comedic metal twist on the various traditional sounds of their beautiful country.

Each song on Italian Folk Metal is performed in a distinct style of Italian folk music: Napoli-based sounds of musica neomelodica clash with melodic guitar sweeps on “Scugnizzi of the Land of Fires" and speedy accordions (prominently known from northern Italy‘s mazurka) are layered with dizzying guitar solos on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri".

Mixed with the band‘s eclectic, comprehensive brand of catchy, comedy-infused metal, Italian Folk Metal is a truly multi-faceted listening experience and a deep dive into the roots of Italy’s folklore! In the process of recording the new album in Rome and Milan during the summer of 2020, Nanowar Of Steel took the Italian-focused theme as an opportunity to gather Italy’s crème de la creme of musicianship: the album features Francesco Paoli from Fleshgod Apocalypse on “L’assedio di Porto Cervo”, Alessandro Conti of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody and Trick Or Treat fame on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri” and Frozen Crown’s Jade on “Rosario", among others. Italian Folk Metal showcases Nanowar Of Steel’s musical versatility at its best!

Order Italian Folk Metal here.

RICHARD Z. KRUSPE's EMIGRATE Drops 'Always On My Mind' Music Video Featuring RAMMSTEIN's TILL LINDEMANN

EMIGRATE, the side project of RAMMSTEIN guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe, has released a music video for its cover of the classic song "Always On My Mind", featuring a guest appearance by RAMMSTEIN singer Till Lindemann. Check it out below.

"Always On My Mind" is taken from EMIGRATE's fourth album, "The Persistence Of Memory", which came out on November 5.

"The Persistence Of Memory", which was named after a Salvador Dalí painting, features the following tracks:

01. Rage

02. Always On My Mind (feat. Till Lindemann)

03. Freeze My Mind

04. I'm Still Alive

05. Come Over

06. You Can't Run Away

07. Hypothetical

08. Blood Stained Wedding

09. I Will Let You Go

As a member of RAMMSTEIN, the music world's most explosive live act, Kruspe has been part of a ground-breaking global success story that continues to build and to ignite; along the way, he's turned his attention to a number of parallel projects, such as constructing a studio (and a home) in his native Berlin, but it's his decision to launch the EMIGRATE setup that has given him the greatest chance to satisfy creative instincts outside of the parent group.

The first EMIGRATE album appeared in 2007 (a self-titled record that went Top 10 in Germany, with single/video "My World" appearing on the soundtrack to the third "Resident Evil" movie); "Silent So Long" followed in 2014, featuring guest vocals from such high-profile artists as Marilyn Manson, Jonathan Davis, Peaches and the legend that will always be Lemmy. EMIGRATE's third album, "A Million Degrees" came out in November 2018 and was described as "less a successor to 'Silent So Long' and more a re-booted take on the overall concept, continuing Kruspe's desire to craft something personal."

"I really want the freedom to collaborate with different people and to explore different kinds of music," Kruspe explained when "A Million Degrees" was first released, "to express myself as both a writer and a singer away from deadlines, timelines and other such restrictions. The idea is to keep experimenting and to keep challenging myself. Plus, EMIGRATE works in an organic way, so musicians can come and go, and it's still okay, it's positive…"

RAMMSTEIN's seventh, untitled album came out in May 2019 via UME/Spinefarm in Europe and Caroline Records in the U.S.

RAMMSTEIN will bring its full-scale stadium production to North America for the first time ever in the summer of 2022.

METALLICA Plays Deep Cuts At Second 40th-Anniversary Show At San Francisco's Chase Center (Video)

METALLICA played the second of two shows celebrating its 40th anniversary last night (Sunday, December 19) at San Francisco, California's Chase Center.

While in-person tickets were available exclusively to members of the group's Fifth Member fan club, METALLICA fans across the globe were able to view the performance live from home or on mobile via Amazon Music, Amazon Music's Twitch channel, and Prime Video (with or without Prime on-demand viewing membership). The show — along with Friday night's (December 17) gig at the same venue — are now available exclusively at The Coda Collection/Prime Video channel for subsequent viewing.

As of a week ago, limited tickets for Friday night's show were going for between $757 and $1,457 via Ticketmaster, while tickets for Sunday's concert were going for at least $582, with several higher-priced tiers.

As was the case with Friday night's gig, METALLICA's show on Sunday opened with the band's usual intro — Ennio Morricone's "The Ecstasy Of Gold" — only this time including a voiceover from "Aquaman" star Jason Momoa.

The setlist for the December 19 concert was as follows:

01. Hardwired

02. The End Of The Line

03. Dirty Window

04. I Disappear

05. Am I Evil? (DIAMOND HEAD cover)

06. The Memory Remains

07. Fuel

08. Bleeding Me

09. Wasting My Hate

10. The Unforgiven

11. Enter Sandman

12. Harvester Of Sorrow

13. Master Of Puppets

14. Fade To Black

15. Whiplash

16. Seek & Destroy

Friday night's setlist saw METALLICA performing songs from all of its albums — in chronological order — in front of a capacity crowd of approximately 17,000.

The two sold-out shows were part of METALLICA's "San Francisco Takeover", a four-day citywide celebration of the band's 40th anniversary that also included a film festival, photo exhibit and curated lineup of smaller venue shows featuring other acts.

The 40th-anniversary shows marked METALLICA's return to Chase Center for the first time since the September 2019 "S&M²" concerts that also served as the venue's grand opening.

Formed in 1981 by guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, METALLICA has become one of the most influential and successful rock bands in history, having sold nearly 120 million albums worldwide and generating more than 2.5 billion streams while playing to millions of fans on literally all seven continents. The band's several multi-platinum albums include "Kill 'Em All", "Ride The Lightning", "Master Of Puppets", "… And Justice For All", "Metallica" (commonly referred to as The Black Album), "Load", "Reload", "St. Anger", "Death Magnetic" and "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", released in November 2016 and charting at No. 1 in 32 countries.

METALLICA's awards and accolades include nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and its 2009 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. In June of 2018, the band was awarded one of the most prestigious musical honors in the world: Sweden's Polar Music Prize.

On Thursday, San Francisco mayor London Breed presented Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo with a special declaration marking December 16 as "Metallica Day" in the city.

"When you talk about San Francisco," Breed said at the news conference, "you talk about cable cars and then you talk about METALLICA."

Watch DREAM THEATER's JAMES LABRIE Sing A Cappella Version Of Christmas Classic 'Let It Snow!'

Video of DREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie belting out an a cappella version of "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!", the 1948 Christmas classic made famous by Frank Sinatra, can be seen below.

LaBrie sang a couple of lines from the track while filming a new video message on Cameo, which lets users hire celebrities to record brief, personalized video messages about virtually any topic.

Cameo reportedly features more than 20,000 celebrities — from musicians and actors to drag queens and from YouTubers to Olympic gold medallists — who, for fees from $1 to $2,500, will offer video messages that mention another person by name. Happy birthday messages are common, as are baby announcements, but some celebrities have also recorded messages for Cameo users looking to quit their jobs or ask a potential date to a prom. The price for a video is determined by the celebrity.

LaBrie charges $75 for each of his Cameo videos for personal use $300 for a video for business use.

LaBrie's new solo album "Beautiful Shade Of Gray", is due on May 20, 2022 via InsideOut Music. Unlike previous LPs "Elements Of Persuasion" (2005), "Static Impulse" (2010) and "Impermanent Resonance" (2013), which were written and recorded as a collaboration with LaBrie's songwriting partner for over a dozen years, Matt Guillory, the new effort was tracked with Scottish musician Paul Logue, bassist and founding member of the multinational melodic metal band EDEN'S CURSE.

DREAM THEATER's latest LP, "A View From The Top Of The World", was released in October. It was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, with engineering and additional production by James "Jimmy T" Meslin and mixing and mastering by Andy Sneap. The artwork for "A View From The Top Of The World" was created by longtime DREAM THEATER collaborator Hugh Syme (RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, STONE SOUR).

DREAM THEATER — comprised of Petrucci, LaBrie, Jordan Rudess, John Myung and Mike Mangini — was in the middle of a sold-out world tour in support of its 2019 last release "Distance Over Time" and the 20th anniversary of "Scenes From A Memory" when a global pandemic brought the world to a stop. The musicians found themselves at home, with LaBrie in Canada and the rest of the group in the States. As fate would have it, they'd just finished construction on DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters) — a combination live recording studio, rehearsal space, control room, equipment storage, and creative hive. With LaBrie in Canada, he initially wrote with the band via Zoom on a monitor in DTHQ. In March 2021, he flew down to New York, quarantined, and recorded his vocals face to face with Petrucci.

Watch GEORGE LYNCH Rejoin DOKKEN On Stage At Legendary Whisky A Go Go

George Lynch rejoined DOKKEN on stage Friday (December 17) and Saturday night (December 18) at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California to perform three of the band's classic songs: "Kiss Of Death", "When Heaven Comes Down" and "Tooth And Nail". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

Lynch had previously played the same three songs with DOKKEN on several occasions this past summer and earlier this fall, including in Glenside, Pennsylvania; in Waukegan, Illinois; in Ashland, Virginia; in Moline, Illinois; and in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

This past March, Lynch was asked in an interview with Jeff Gaudiosi of MisplacedStraws.com if there has been any talk of more shows featuring the reunited classic lineup of DOKKEN. He responded: "I've actually been talking to Don [Dokken] a little bit, and we're both in agreement that that should probably happen — meaning some kind of a meaningful reunion done in the right way, carefully and with proper preparation and time and rehearsals and not just throwing it out there like we did last time." George went on to say that "the obvious choice" to replace DOKKEN's recently retired drummer "Wild" Mick Brown would be Mick's brother Steve, who can be heard playing alongside Lynch and ex-DOKKEN bassist Jeff Pilson on the latest THE END MACHINE album, "Phase2".

In a separate interview with Alamo True Metal, Lynch reflected on the last time DOKKEN's classic lineup — Dokken, Lynch, Pilson and Mick Brown — reunited for a short Japanese tour in the fall of 2016. The trek marked the first time in 21 years the four musicians had hit the road together.

"I think I was slightly disappointed in it — not overwhelmingly disappointed, but I have some regrets," he said. "I wish we had prepared more. And I know we all feel that way. 'Cause of the logistics, we all had things we had to do right after the time we had allotted and beforehand. So we just were barely able to even pull it off with everybody else's pre-existing commitments. The fact that we got to do it at all was… you know, we were fortunate for even being able to pull it off. So we were a little underprepared, I feel. And yes, we were offered a good amount of money to go to Japan and do some other things, so it made it just kind of a no-brainer."

A DOKKEN concert DVD focusing on the band's reunion tour, "Return To The East Live (2016)", was made available in 2018. In addition to the Japanese performance, the set included footage from the classic lineup's only U.S. show in September 2016 at Badlands in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as well as newly recorded acoustic reworkings of "Heaven Sent" and "Will The Sun Rise". Also featured on "Return To The East Live (2016)" was "It's Just Another Day", the first DOKKEN track featuring the group's classic lineup since 1997's "Shadowlife".

Since completing the Japanese reunion dates, DOKKEN has continued to perform with the group's current lineup — including bassist Chris McCarvill, guitarist Jon Levin and drummer BJ Zampa (HOUSE OF LORDS).

DOKKEN recently finished recording a new studio album, tentatively due next year via Silver Lining Music, the label owned by Thomas Jensen, one of the founders of Germany's Wacken Open Air festival. It will mark the group's first disc since 2012's "Broken Bones".

Over the past four years, Lynch has appeared on recordings by THE END MACHINE, KXM, ULTRAPHONIX and SWEET & LYNCH. He released his first-ever full-length instrumental album, "Seamless", in August via Rat Pak Records.

Last show of the year! Dokken live at the Whisky A Go-Go with George Lynch! ??

Watch THE AGONIST's First Live Performance In Nearly Two Years

Team Montreal Metal has uploaded video of THE AGONIST's December 17 concert at Théâtre Corona in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event, which also included headliners CRYPTOPSY along with THE GREAT SABATINI, NECROTIC MUTATION and BURNING THE OPPRESSOR, marked THE AGONIST's first live performance in nearly two years.

THE AGONIST released a new EP, "Days Before The World Wept", in October via Napalm Records. The effort was produced by Christian Donaldson, who has previously worked with BEYOND CREATION, CRYPTOPSY and DESPISED ICON.

In an interview with Heavy Music HQ, singer Vicky Psarakis stated about the making of the EP: "I can't say the process was any different than usual. The only thing that was difficult was crossing the border and having to quarantine to record my vocals. I'm the only person in the band that resides in the USA and there were serious travel restrictions at the time."

Vicky went on to say that "Days Before The World Wept" is a conceptual tale inspired by real-life experiences. "It talks about a character's journey through afterlife and the many stages until they're brought back to this earth," she said. "It's a fictional story, filled with my own personal emotions and beliefs, and the lyrics are written in a way that are very relatable, even if you have no idea what the general concept is."

THE AGONIST is:

Vicky Psarakis - Vocals / Piano

Danny Marino - Guitar

Pascal Jobin - Guitar

Chris Kells - Bass

Simon McKay - Drums

PINK FLOYD - Upcoming Restored & Re-Edited Edition Of P•U•L•S•E• Unboxed; Video

Earlier this week, Warner Music for Europe and Sony Music for outside Europe announced that Pink Floyd's P•U•L•S•E• Restored & Re-Edited, will be released for the first time on Blu-ray on February 18. You can now watch an unboxing video below.

The P•U•L•S•E• concert film (helmed by esteemed director David Mallet) will be available as 2x Blu-ray and 2x DVD deluxe box sets, with the video footage having been expertly re-edited by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis from the original tape masters especially for The Later Years release in 2019. The cover design, originally created by Storm Thorgerson and Peter Curzon for the 2006 DVD release, has also been updated with photography by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis and Rupert Truman/StormStudios. The packaging artwork is designed by Peter Curzon from StormStudios, under the direction of Aubrey Powell/Hignosis.

This release also sees the reintroduction of the iconic pulsating light as per the original 1995 CD release, this time operated by two replaceable AA batteries. The deluxe packages include music videos, concert screen films, documentaries, Pulse Tour rehearsal footage and more, alongside a 60-page booklet.

P•U•L•S•E•, originally released as an album in 1995, was recorded on the European leg of the Division Bell tour and the DVD and Blu-ray packages include the whole live performance of The Dark Side Of The Moon – the only full live filmed recording of this seminal album. The concert, filmed on 20 October 1994 at Earls Court in London, saw Pink Floyd play some of their classic tracks as well as highlights from the recently released album The Division Bell. Standout tracks include "High Hopes", "Keep Talking", "Sorrow", "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb" and "The Great Gig In The Sky".

Nick Mason reflects on the original CD release and the pulsing LED light: "Essentially, it's a device which we thought was entertaining. It's an idea of Storm Thorgerson's which related to The Dark Side Of The Moon and the pulse, and it's a live album so the box is 'alive'. After that, in terms of seriously deep meanings, one might be struggling a bit".

You can pre-order P•U•L•S•E• Restored & Re-Edited here.

AYREON Mastermind's STAR ONE Releases New Single / Video "Prescient" Featuring HAKEN's ROSS JENNINGS And TOEHIDER's MICHAEL MILLS

Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon) is back with a new Star One album, titled Revel In Time. The new album comes more than 10 years since the previous release and is due out on February 18 via InsideOutMusic.

Lucassen is pleased to share the third single and video for the album’s opening track, "Prescient", featuring Michael Mills (Toehider) and Ross Jennings (Haken, Novena). Check it out below.

Lucassen: "For me, this is the most varied Star One album so far, every track has a totally different feel. The first single, 'Lost Children Of The Universe', is a big epic track; the second single, 'Fate Of Man', is a fast metal track, and 'Prescient' is definitely the most proggy on the album. With the video we tried to capture that vintage black and white Twilight Zone feel with a touch of David Lynch!"

The album will come as Ltd. 2CD Digipak, Ltd. Deluxe 3CD+Blu-Ray Artbook (incl. a poster of the cover artwork), and as 180g Gatefold 2LP (incl. the album on CD & an LP-Booklet).

CD2 features alternate versions of the same songs as CD1, but with different vocalists. Also available will be a 5.1 mix, a high-res audio version, and an exclusive, hour-long Behind The Scenes video, on the Blu-ray included in the Artbook.

Revel In Time tracklisting:

Watch SHADOWS FALL Reunite For First Concert In Six Years

SHADOWS FALL, the Massachusetts metal band which was at the forefront of the New Wave of American Metal scene that dominated the '00s, reunited to play a one-off show last night (Saturday, December 18) at The Palladium in Worcester in their native Massachusetts. Also appearing on the bill were UNEARTH, DARKEST HOUR, WITHIN THE RUINS, SWORN ENEMY and CARNIVORA. Fan-filmed video of SHADOWS FALL's performance is available below.

A few days before the concert, SHADOWS FALL singer Brian Fair told Heavy New York about the preparations for the gig: "Jon [Donais, guitar] and Jason [Bittner, drums] have been full-on touring full time with two legendary and super-professional bands in ANTHRAX and OVERKILL, so those dudes are at the top of their game in every way. I've been playing a bunch of shows, but I haven't done real touring type of stuff, so I had to make sure physically I was gonna be ready. So when I was practicing the set, I literally had headphones on and I would do cardio in between any of the vocals to just try to simulate the adrenaline and the chaos and that type of thing, and also to see if I could make it through an hour-and-a-half headlining set. And Paul [Romanko, bass] hadn't played, really, with anyone since we stopped, so he really went into the workshed and was playing a ton again. We got to practice and we were, like, 'Man, we sound better than we used to.' But also we were notoriously bad about rehearsing. We would do one rehearsal before an eight-week tour, and halfway through it we were, like, 'Ah, we know these songs. Do we really have to play 'Destroyer Of Senses' again? We know fucking 'Destroyer Of Senses'.' And looking back, we're, like, 'Man, we should have rehearsed. We're really good when we rehearse.' [Laughs] All the harmonies are in lock. And this whole week [of rehearsing] has just been, like, 'All right. We sound good. We're ready.' Hopefully, barring technical difficulties or any of the things that normally follow SHADOWS FALL around, we're definitely ready to come out and crush it. So now, if the gear can keep up with us, we're ready."

SHADOWS FALL released a statement in August 2014 in which the bandmembers explained that financial difficulties made it virtually impossible for the group to continue as a full-time concern.

In August 2015, SHADOWS FALL played a few reunion shows on the U.S. East Coast, one year after completing what was being billed at the time as the band's "final" European tour.

SHADOWS FALL's latest album, "Fire From The Sky", released in May 2012 via Razor & Tie. The CD sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SHADOWS FALL members Jon Donais and Matt Bachand recently launched a new project called LIVING WRECKAGE, in which they are joined by guitarist Matt LeBreton (DOWNPOUR), drummer Jon Morency (LET US PREY) and vocalist Jeff Gard DEATH RAY VISION.

STONE WHISKEY Release "Talkin' Dirty" Video

Eyes of fire, lightin up your face. Stone Whiskey continues to promote their incredible debut album, Rebels Of The Sun, with the release of a seventh single and video, "Talkin' Dirty".

North Carolina hard rockers, Stone Whiskey, released their debut album, Rebels Of The Sun, a record chock full of hard-hitting rebellious rock ‘n’ roll, in May 2021.

“This album screams rock ‘n’ roll from start to finish,” says guitarist Bill Spears. “It's got all the key ingredients I want in a band... killer vocals, big guitars, catchy hooks and stories delivered with just the right amount of swagger and character.”

Stone Whiskey’s classic, time tested sound was bought to life by producer Anthony Focx, whose more than 500 releases include Buckcherry, Night Ranger, Vince Neil, Daughtry, Aerosmith and 17 gold and platinum awards.

“Quarantine really gave us the time to focus on writing songs and recording the album,” says vocalist Alan Rueda. “Being able to work with a producer like Anthony Focx was awesome. He took what we had and made it sound like a rock album should sound.”

There’s no filler on Rebels Of The Sun, with each of the record’s nine tracks delivering a hefty dose of high-energy rock. Drawing comparisons to Guns N’ Roses’ early recordings, Stone Whiskey has already garnered praise for their classic sound, with fans enthusing that the Raleigh-based quintet is carrying the old school rock ‘n’ roll torch for a new generation.

“This album is made to be played as loud as possible,” notes bassist Jim Hunter. “If you dig albums like Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite For Destruction and The Cult’s Electric, Rebels Of The Sun just might scratch that rock n roll itch.”

Check out the videos for the first five singles from the release, the title track “Rebels Of The Sun”, “Into The Moonlight”, "Empty Eyes", "Feels Like Yesterday", and "Out On The City" below.

JONAS LINDBERG & THE OTHER SIDE Release "Oceans Of Time" Music Video

Swedish progressive rock outfit, Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side, recently signed with InsideOutMusic for the release of the upcoming new album, Miles From Nowhere, due out on February 18. The band have released a video for the song "Oceans Of Time", which can be found below.

Led by multi-instrumentalist and composer Jonas Lindberg, the new album consists of seven songs which spans the full range of the progressive rock landscape - from the soaring ”Summer Queen” (led by Jenny Storm), to the folksy instrumental ”Astral Journey” to the closing title track; a sprawling 25 minute epic which features none other than Roine Stolt Pale Rider (The Flower Kings, Transatlantic) on lead guitar.

Jonas Lindberg on signing with the label: “It’s a great honor to be on this label alongside such great acts like Dream Theater, Yes, Jethro Tull among others! Being a fan of the genre myself, many of the bands on the label are big influences and longtime favorites of mine.”

Miles From Nowhere is available for pre-order here on CD, Gatefold 2LP+CD & as Digital Album.

Lindberg had this to say about the new album: "Miles From Nowhere is my fourth release and second full length album with my progressive rock project Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side. It was recorded between 2019 and 2020, in part during the pandemic, and is a followup to my 2016 release called Pathfinder. This album is much more "symphonic" in a way with much longer songs and it even features a couple of epics. The lyrics are also much more personal in a way, and reflects a lot upon things happening in my life between both albums. While I considered Pathfinder to be a band effort at the time, on this one I'm playing a lot of the instruments myself and even singing lead vocals on a couple of tracks. In part due to logistical difficulties caused by the pandemic. It also features some more guest musicians than just the lineup of my original project members, with one of my biggest influences in the genre, Roine Stolt guesting on the epic title track."

”It’s such an honor to have one of my biggest influences in the genre playing on one of the tracks! I’m so happy that he wanted to do it. Roine’s solo follows one of Jonas Sundqvist’s strongest vocal tracks ever, and he somehow managed to top that. Such a great guitar player,” says Lindberg.
