Juliano has been following SEPULTURA for the last few years, a time of tension and triumph for the band, as they toured and recorded their albums "Kairos" and "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart". Nothing has been off limits. This amazing story will go through SEPULTURA's history, myths, conflicts, personnel changes and struggles with the Internet economy in the early 2000s and will include interviews and rare footage.
SEPULTURA recently commenced the songwriting process for the follow-up to "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart", tentatively due before the end of the year via Nuclear Blast.
SEPULTURA released a limited-edition seven-inch single to mark its 30th anniversary. "Under My Skin" features artwork of fan tattoos on its cover, with a live version of "Kairos" on the b-side. The single was issued on black, yellow and green vinyl, with only 200 copies of each version pressed.

Video: TOM KEIFER Performs CINDERELLA Classics In MiamiFan-filmed video footage of CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer performing the band's classic songs "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" and "Nobody's Fool" with his solo group — including his wife, Nashville singer-songwriter Savannah Snow — at the Magic City Casino in Miami, Florida on January 20 can be seen below.
Asked how writing solo material is different from composing music for CINDERELLA, Tom told RockNLive in a 2015 interview: "It's creating music. I write from the same place, whether it was with CINDERELLA or with this [Keifer's debut solo debut, 2013's 'The Way Life Goes']. I try to write from real-life experiences and emotions and things I've gone through or observed other people going through. And that's really the start of all of it. The songs are the foundation of everything. So I work very much in the same way in terms of the writing. And then, you get into the studio and the process is the same; you're trying to get out of the studio monitors what you heard in your head when you first got that song inspiration. So, yeah, it's very much the same."
Snow had an emergency appendectomy on September 20, 2015 after suffering abdominal pains prior to Tom's concert in Houston. Tom told Eddie Trunk during an appearance the next day on Trunk's SiriusXM satellite radio show, "Eddie Trunk Live": "It's crazy, man. We had a really, really bad scare. We were down touring through Texas and Oklahoma, and she started to feel very sick and have a lot of pain on [September 19]. By the time we got on the bus [after the Houston show that night], she looked so bad, I said, 'We're going straight to the emergency room when we get back to Nashville.' And sure enough, she had appendicitis. It had ruptured, and she went under emergency appendectomy. So really, really scary. She's doing better now, though. The surgery went well."
Savannah wrote and co-produced some of "The Way Life Goes", which sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on in April 2013 via Merovee Records (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group).

KREATOR Frontman Misses METALLICA's 'Rebellious Spirit'During a recent appearance on the official podcast of Canadian rocker Danko Jones, KREATOR frontman Mille Petrozza spoke about his love for early METALLICA and where he hopes to see James Hetfield and Co. go on their next studio release.
"I really wish that METALLICA would put out an album that blows aways everyone," Mille said (hear audio below). "[2008's 'Death Magnetic'] was not great, [but it was] better than the one before [2003's 'St. Anger'].
"They had one song [on 'Death Magnetic'] that got me — the one that sounded like… The ballad that turned into [a] LED ZEPPELIN [kind of thing; referring to 'The Day That Never Comes']. That was a good song."
He continued: "I didn't like the sound [of 'Death Magnetic'] too much. The guitar tone was not really crispy. I think that one guy that [producer] Rick Rubin's working with [engineer/producer Greg Fidelman], he has a bad taste for guitar tone. He has this weird, non-distorted tone that might fit to some rock acts or whatever, but not to METALLICA. It sounds like the Tube Screamer [effects pedal] is turned off, you know what I mean? [Laughs]"
Mille went on to say that the musical side of things is not the only element of METALLICA's current direction that he finds disappointing. "With METALLICA, I'm missing the lyrics also, I'm missing the stories, I'm missing the political edge. You know what I mean? I'm missing the rebellious spirit, so to speak," he explained.
Mille added: "That's one of my all-time favorite bands that I was really looking up to and was, like, 'Yeah, yeah, they're right. They sang something true in their lyrics. Look at how they put this and what they think about this and that, and nowadays I'm just not interested anymore. It's weird."
KREATOR is working on material for the follow-up to its 2012 album, "Phantom Antichrist", for a tentative 2017 release.
"Phantom Antichrist" sold 3,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 1 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. 34

ACCEPT's WOLF HOFFMANN On His Upcoming Solo Album: 'This Has Been In The Works Forever And Ever'Ghost Cult magazine recently conducted an interview with guitarist Wolf Hoffmann of German/American metallers ACCEPT. An excerpt from the chat follows below.
Ghost Cult: [ACCEPT is] touring on "Blind Rage", but you also have a new solo album out this year. Tell us about that.
Wolf: This has been in the works forever and ever. I've always been busy with ACCEPT. I always go into the studio for a week here or there for years and years that I've been working on this. It's finally now over. [Around] Christmas, I had the time to put it all together and put it in the can, so to say, to get it out of my system. It's a follow-up album to one I did in 1987 where I took some classical pieces and metalled them up for guitar. I did the same thing again. This time I took well-known classical pieces and rearranged them completely for rock instruments. This time around I worked with an orchestra from Prague, the Czech Republic. That was an amazing experience just to go over there and work with these guys. It's going to come out soon, late spring.
Ghost Cult: How has writing and rearranging a classical album expanded your writing for ACCEPT?
Wolf: I think it all helps. It's actually quite mindblowing to see the details of what these grand masters from two hundred years ago what they've actually written. You see how timeless the melodies and pieces. They are so good, so well written. They are mindblowing. You think, hopefully, a little bit of that rubs off on you. At the end of the day, you can't compete with that at all. I'm a metal guitar player doing my thing. It pales in comparison to what Beethoven or Mozart did before. But, I do it for fun because I love it. It's a passion.
Ghost Cult: Was the arranging and writing on your own easier or harder than the process writing with Peter [Baltes, ACCEPT bass player]?
Wolf: I was lucky enough to work with a guy from Italy. He's a good friend. He plays piano. He's really good at string arrangements. He and I pretty much work together like I work with Peter, where the two of us sit in a room and we just hash out these ideas and bounce the ball back and forth. It was kind of similar in that respect. Only, obviously, the medium was way different because he was the guy writing all the string arrangements. I would just sort of tell him how I was hearing things in my mind and he was translating it to orchestra speak. To me, it's interesting to see how not so different it is, even though it is a totally different medium. There's an orchestra and nobody is singing, obviously. And these are old-time compositions, but at the same time, a lot of times there are segments that sounds like ACCEPT somehow just because of the guitars and drums and all that.

Was THE CULT Instrumental In The Birth Of Grunge? In a brand new interview with U.K.'s Loaded, THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy argues his band had more to do with the birth of the grunge movement than they're given credit for.
"I wouldn't say we invented grunge," he says. "But there are a couple of facts that can't be disputed. The first track on our album 'Love' is called 'Nirvana'. And the only city that 'She Sells Sanctuary' was a big hit on the radio was Seattle. Also, if you look at the first scene in PEARL JAM's documentary 'Twenty', they're at the back of a THE CULT gig trying to get in."
An article on the Grunge Story Tellers web site tells the story of THE CULT's influence on Andrew Wood, the late lead singer for early Seattle alternative rock bands MALFUNKSHUN and MOTHER LOVE BONE.
In a 2012 interview with Drowned In Sound, THE CULT singer Ian Astbury echoed some of Duffy's comments about their band's impact on the grunge scene, saying: "We had a Top 40 hit in Seattle on their mainstream radio station, which is pretty much unheard of for a U.K. artist. We played a gig there and anyone who's anyone from what later became the grunge movement was there, so we're kind of influential in that way."
THE CULT's popularity peaked with 1989's "Sonic Temple" album, which cracked the Billboard Top 10 and produced the hit singles "Fire Woman" and "Edie (Ciao Baby)".
By the time the grunge movement exploded in 1991, THE CULT's popularity was waning and by mid-decade the band had gone on hiatus.
THE CULT's tenth studio album, "Hidden City", was released on February 5 via Cooking Vinyl. The follow-up to 2012's "Choice Of Weapon" was written by Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy and was produced by Bob Rock, who has previously worked with METALLICA and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

LOU GRAMM Wants FOREIGNER's Original Lineup To Reunite For 40th AnniversaryFormer FOREIGNER singer Lou Gramm has told ABC News Radio that he would like to see the band's original lineup reunite next year to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the group's self-titled debut album.
"I think it would be terrific," he said. "It wouldn't have to be any kind of commitment or anything. Just to honor that anniversary and do something."
Gramm admitted that he hasn't spoken to founding FOREIGNER guitarist/songwriter Mick Jones about a possible reunion, although the two do keep in touch. "I do talk to Mick, periodically," he said. "I haven't heard anything about any kind of reunion show or anything. Maybe he'll celebrate that 40th anniversary with his own band in his own way. And if so, I'll certainly honor it with my [solo] band too." Lou added that he thinks "if we don't do anything to mark [the anniversary], then we never will."
If the FOREIGNER reunion does occur, it will not include the band's original bassist Ed Gagliardi, who died last year.
Jones and Gramm's June 2013 performance of "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Juke Box Hero" at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in New York City marked the first time the pair has performed together in a decade after Gramm left FOREIGNER for a second time.
Jones told The Pulse Of Radio that upon forming FOREIGNER in 1976, he knew that Gramm would prove to be invaluable with a signature voice — with the songwriting chops to match. "I knew he had written, he was a writer too, and always felt that, y'know, it was important that the singer in any band had something to do with, [laughs] obviously, creating the songs, 'cause they're gonna sing them," he said. "Lou came up with some great titles; I think 'Head Games', I think 'Hot Blooded', too. And he developed into a really good writer." 1

AL JOURGENSEN: The Scary Part Is The American Culture, Not DONALD TRUMPMetal Wani's Anne Catherine Swallow recently conducted an interview with MINISTRY and SURGICAL METH MACHINE mainman Al Jourgensen. You can now listen to the chat in two parts below.
Speaking about the popularity of controversial Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Jourgensen said: "Donald Trump is not the main problem. He's a result of society's problems here. And what's more scary than Donald Trump is the fact that three out of ten Americans think that he would be a good idea to unleash on the world. The scary part is the American culture and these American people, not Donald Trump. Donald Trump is just like… He's society's robot. This is what we want, or three out of ten people want that."
He continued: "I know Europe's very scared about the possibility… well, the whole world is scared about the possibility of a Trump presidency. But you have to remember, there's seven out of ten people here that are still sane. You guys are grappling with that in Germany right now and all over Europe with the fear of the migrant crisis and of the Islamic faith. I mean, there's that fear there. Trump plays upon that fear here, and three out of ten people fall for it. And if you look at the rise of the National Front in Germany, and the right wing in France is just going absolutely crazy… I mean, they might actually gain seats in their parliament; I mean, big-time seats. Same here. Like I said a few albums ago, fear is big business."
Asked if he is still optimistic about this planet's future, Al said: "I can't help but be optimistic, because I have a very strong faith-based thing where I know I'm going other places. And I know the other places, and some of them are far more interesting; some of them are worse. This one's pretty bad, though. I think this planet's pretty fucked up in its thinking, in the way that society thinks, or the way that society's becoming."
SURGICAL METH MACHINE will release its self-titled debut album on April 15 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was recorded primarily at Jourgensen's home studio in Burbank, California with his longtime engineer Sam D'Ambruoso. 3

OZZY OSBOURNE - “I’m Not Saying I'll Never Record With TONY Or GEEZER Again, I Just Don't Want To Tour With BLACK SABBATH After This”In a new interview with Rolling Stone Australia, Black Sabbath legends Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler talk about their final tour appropriately called The End. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:
Ozzy on calling it quits: “I don't want to drag it into the dirt," Osbourne says. "The best thing that happened to Sabbath the first time was we went our own ways for a while (in 1979). It was good for them and good for me. The decision is final. You could put money on it.”
Geezer on calling it quits: "It'll be bittersweet. I’m glad we're finishing on a high note but sad that it's the end of what I've known for most of my life."
Ozzy on the future: ”Time ain't on our side. To be honest with you, if the new record wasn't another Number One, we would have been pissed off, so we just left it on a high note with 13. I'm not saying I'll never record with Tony or Geezer again. I just don't want to tour with Black Sabbath after this."
Ozzy on the band’s heavy-partying days: “We're not killing ourselves [anymore]," Osbourne says. "It doesn't get any easier physically. I don't know how the fucking Stones do it. I was the fucking rebel for so many years. Now I can't understand why I was going out, getting full of Jack Daniel's, having a bag of white powder and talking shit till daybreak, thinking that was fun. I would poke my fucking eyes out if I had to do that now."

RUSH’s Alex Lifeson Says Neil Peart “Didn’t Even Want To Do” The R40 TourIn a new interview with Rolling Stone, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson says that drummer Neil Peart “didn’t even want to do” R40, Rush’s 2015 tour that celebrated 40 years of Rush that ran from May 8th to August 1st.
"We had such a great time on the tour," Lifeson tells Rolling Stone. "And it was really nice to go through all the material in reverse chronology, and I think our fans really enjoyed it. I think that no matter how long it would have been, it would have been too short. Neil was prepared to commit to 30 dates and he told us that right from the very beginning. He didn't even want to do the tour, to be honest with you. It's been increasingly difficult for him, but he committed to the tour and we got through it. As far as he was concerned, that was the end of touring."
Rush have released the following video, showcasing their classic track “Tom Sawyer” through the years of 2003-2015 from Rush In Rio, R30, Snakes & Arrows Live, Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland, Clockwork Angels Tour, and R40 Live.
Rush frontman Geddy Lee recently sat down with Music Radar and went through a track-by-track overview of the band's critically acclaimed fourth album, 2112, released in 1976. An excerpt is available below:
Lee: “It begins with the 'Overture', which – despite being the first thing you hear – was the last piece to be written, much like with any classical overture. We wanted to take the most important musical threads from each of the subsequent parts to create a ‘new’ piece of music that would represent the album as a whole. So that’s where it all starts.”
“And then 'The Temples Of Syrinx' sets the scene, because 2112 is about a totalitarian society that controls everything about your life, including the music that you hear. It manufactures it all, so that’s what we wanted to say with this track. It sets up the hierarchy in this futuristic world that we’ve arrived in.”
“'Discovery' is where the hero of the story finds a device in a cave. It’s a guitar, but he doesn’t know it because they don’t exist in his time period. So he picks it up and realises that it’s a device that can make music and create sounds. Previous to that point, everything he’d ever heard had been provided to him by the people that run his world.”

Former AC/DC Vocalist DAVE EVANS Says Fans Would Welcome His Return In Wake Of BRIAN JOHNSON’s Hearing Issues - “They're Pretty Appreciative Of My Vocals And Performances”AC/DC have been forced to reschedule 10 dates on the US leg of their Rock Or Bust World Tour. The band’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss. AC/DC dates through early April will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist.
Meanwhile, Sydney Morning Herald are reporting that the band’s first singer, Dave Evans, is set to return to the band following Johnson’s withdrawal
It may have been 43 years since Evans briefly sung with Angus Young in the first version of AC/DC, but he says his fans would back him to fill the vacancy left by Brian Johnson.
"When I perform around the world the fans love my music and my performances and I hear what they tell me," the 62-year-old says.
Presumably that he is still the man to take the mic again for the rock giants?
"That's what they all tell me. They're pretty appreciative of my vocals and performances," says Evans, whom rock legend has it refused to go on stage 10 months after joining and was duly replaced with a scruffy chauffeur by the name of Bon Scott.
Read more at Sydney Morning Herald.

GLENN HUGHES Is Still Hoping To Perform With DEEP PURPLE At ROCK HALL InductionFormer DEEP PURPLE bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes spoke to Billboard.com about the band's upcoming induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the controversy surrounding guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's decision to sit out the ceremony because the current touring configuration of the band refuses to perform with the guitarist at the event.
The DEEP PURPLE members that are being inducted are: Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord and Ian Paice.
"All I know is I'm getting the award," Hughes said. "There's a lot of gossip and innuendo about who's saying what. I'd love to play. I'd love to sing. And so would David [Coverdale]."
He added: "A month ago, David said to me, 'Shall I reach out to Ian Gillan to figure out what we're gonna do?' He came back and told me that there's a problem that Don [Airey, current DEEP PURPLE keyboardist] and Steve [Morse, current DEEP PURPLE guitarist] aren't getting inducted and there's all sorts of scenarios with that and grumblings and this and that, and I said, 'Well, I'm just gonna stay out of the way,' and Coverdale is as well. If Ian Gillan wants to run the show on behalf of his DEEP PURPLE, that's his business; my business is to show up and gracefully accept my award. But we're really hoping that we will be invited to sing. I'd like to think that DEEP PURPLE can be just one big happy family on the night, y'know? Egos outside the door and be graceful in what we do."
Ian Gillan last month defended DEEP PURPLE's decision to only perform with the group's current lineup at the upcoming Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, explaining that "there is no slight intended nor any desire to upset anyone" with this move.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony seemed like a rare opportunity for DEEP PURPLE to reunite with Blackmore, who wrote many of the band's most memorable riffs, including "Smoke on the Water", but hasn't played with the group since 1993.
But Gillan has since confirmed that no such reunion will take place, saying that only "the living breathing DEEP PURPLE" will play at the event, which will take place on April 8 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
It should be noted that Gillan has insisted that he has no problems with Blackmore attending the Rock Hall ceremony and has said that he is not opposed to sharing the stage with the guitarist at the end of the April 8 event. "We would love to perform with Ritchie, David, Glenn et al on 'Smoke On The Water' in the encore jam," Ian said.
HBO will air this year's ceremony on April 30. 8

TOKYO BLADE's Classic 'Night Of The Blade' Lineup To Reunite For European ShowsBritish classic metal band TOKYO BLADE has announced the return of not one, but two vocalists who have formed part of the group's lineup in previous years.
Vick Wright (1984-1985) and Chris Gillen (2008-2010) will rejoin the four original members Andy Boulton, Steve Pierce, John Wiggins and Andy Wrighton and perform alternate live shows depending on where in the world the band is playing.
Guitarist and founder member Andy Boulton explains: "Firstly, can I say that individually Chris and Vick are two of the best vocalists I've ever played with and two of the finest voices in rock full stop?
"It's been a pleasure to work with Chris again recently, and now to have Vick available to reunite a 'classic' lineup for the band is great for us and particularly the fans.
"'Night Of The Blade' is such a classic album and holds a place in everyone's heart so to be able to perform those songs again with Vick will be very special.
"Playing live is so important to us and over the past few years it's been difficult because most of the band is based in the U.K. and our vocalists have been in another country, so we've come up with the perfect solution. Chris lives in Michigan so can perform all shows in the U.S., Canada and South America and Vick will be based in the U.K. to do everything in Europe for the 'Night Of The Blade' reunion shows.
"It's a somewhat unique situation, but I'm sure the fans will jump at the chance to see the classic lineup again. At the end of the day everything we do is for the fans so it's such a joy to be able to do this."
Chris Gillen never recorded with TOKYO BLADE during his first tenure but toured with the lineup during 2008-2010 and performed with the band during 2015. His other band OVERLOADED has toured with the likes of ALTER BRIDGE, GODSMACK, HELLYEAH, DOPE, SKID ROW, SLAUGHTER and countless others
Vick Wright replaced original singer Alan Marsh in time to record vocals for the band's now-classic "Night Of The Blade" album in 1984 and its follow-up, "Black Hearts And Jaded Spades", before departing and moving to the U.S. where he's had a successful career as a musician, writer and film director. His band JOHNNY CRASH toured with MÖTLEY CRÜE and PRETTY MAIDS and at one time included former GUNS N' ROSES members Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed. The award-winning supernatural thriller "To Hell With A Bullet", which Vick wrote and directed, was recently released in the U.S. and will be available in Europe soon. Live dates in 2015 have been announced in Spain, Holland, Belgium, France and Germany, with more to follow. South American shows will take in Mexico, Brazil and Columbia, with final dates to be confirmed soon.

“Fifth BEATLE” SIR GEORGE MARTIN Dead At 90 The ”Fifth Beatle" and record producer Sir George Martin died aged 90 at his home yesterday (March 8th). Martin's manager Adam Sharp called him "one of music's most creative talents and a gentleman to the end."
Sir Paul McCartney, who had worked with Martin for decades, paid an emotional tribute:
“I’m so sad to hear the news of the passing of dear George Martin. I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever. He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me. He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.
It’s hard to choose favourite memories of my time with George, there are so many but one that comes to mind was the time I brought the song 'Yesterday’ to a recording session and the guys in the band suggested that I sang it solo and accompany myself on guitar. After I had done this George Martin said to me, "Paul I have an idea of putting a string quartet on the record". I said, “Oh no George, we are a rock and roll band and I don’t think it’s a good idea”. With the gentle bedside manner of a great producer he said to me, "Let us try it and if it doesn’t work we won’t use it and we’ll go with your solo version". I agreed to this and went round to his house the next day to work on the arrangement.
He took my chords that I showed him and spread the notes out across the piano, putting the cello in the low octave and the first violin in a high octave and gave me my first lesson in how strings were voiced for a quartet. When we recorded the string quartet at Abbey Road, it was so thrilling to know his idea was so correct that I went round telling people about it for weeks. His idea obviously worked because the song subsequently became one of the most recorded songs ever with versions by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and thousands more.
This is just one of the many memories I have of George who went on to help me with arrangements on 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Live and Let Die' and many other songs of mine.
I am proud to have known such a fine gentleman with such a keen sense of humour, who had the ability to poke fun at himself. Even when he was Knighted by the Queen there was never the slightest trace of snobbery about him.
My family and I, to whom he was a dear friend, will miss him greatly and send our love to his wife Judy and their kids Giles and Lucy, and the grandkids.
The world has lost a truly great man who left an indelible mark on my soul and the history of British music.
God bless you George and all who sail in you!”

HATEBREED: 'The Concrete Confessional' Artwork, Track Listing UnveiledConnecticut-based hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED will release their new album, "The Concrete Confessional", on May 13 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The follow-up to 2013's "The Divinity Of Purpose" was produced by longtime collaborator Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, SUICIDE SILENCE, WHITECHAPEL) and mixed by Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, MEGADETH). The artwork was created by Marcelo Vasco (SLAYER).
Regarding the "The Concrete Confessional" artwork, HATEBREED vocalist Jamey Jasta said: "I think da Vinci said it best when he said painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen. Marcelo was able to capture a feeling that will accompany our musical and lyrical vision and he put together a striking piece that speaks volumes."
"The Concrete Confessional" track listing:
01. A.D.02. Looking Down The Barrel Of Today03. Seven Enemies04. In The Walls05. From Grace We've Fallen06. Us Against Us07. Something's Off08. Remember When09. Slaughtered In Their Dreams10. The Apex Within11. Walking The Knife12. Dissonance13. Serve Your Masters
In support of "The Concrete Confessional", HATEBREED will embark on a North American headlining tour. Joining them on the trek are modern metal stalwarts DEVILDRIVER, Nuclear Blast labelmates DEVIL YOU KNOW and Metal Blade recording artists ACT OF DEFIANCE (featuring former MEGADETH members Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover).
HATEBREED's last album, "The Divinity Of Purpose", sold 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 20 on The Billboard 200 chart. 2

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Feat. Ex-SLAYER Drummer DAVE LOMBARDO: Video Of San Francisco ConcertFormer SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo is sitting behind the kit for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES during the latter band's North American tour as the support act for MEGADETH.
Fan-filmed video footage of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' February 29 performance at The Warfield in San Francisco, California can be seen below.
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES frontman Mike Muir told The Bulletin about Lombardo's addition to the band: "Dave's a legend, you know. It's a little bit different than other things — people call him the godfather of the double-kick and bass and stuff. He just has an amazing intensity, but besides intensity, he just has a musical mindset that — he totally understands what we're doing and where we came from when we started, different, but at the same time and stuff. We've always kind of done shows together, this and that, been kind of close. He knows where he's coming from is the right place."
Lombardo made his live debut with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES on February 26 at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Muir recently hinted at not one, but two follow-ups to the group's 2013 album "13" — an EP and a full-length — inspired by the current political climate and upcoming election. He did not reveal any information about these new releases, but implied that these may be the band's final recordings. However, he pointed out: "I thought the first one would probably be the last we would do, too."
"13" sold around 3,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 187 on The Billboard 200 chart. The first studio album in 13 years from SUICIDAL TENDENCIES was produced by vocalist Mike Muir and Grammy-nominated engineer/mixer Paul Northfield (DREAM THEATER, HOLE, RUSH).

BLACK VEIL BRIDES Frontman Teases 'We Don't Have To Dance' Single From ANDY BLACK ProjectA short preview of "We Don't Have To Dance", the first single from BLACK VEIL BRIDES singer Andy Biersack's solo project, ANDY BLACK, is available below. The song will be released digitally on March 18.
Tentatively due later in the year, ANDY BLACK's debut album — which was produced by John Feldmann — is expected to include collaborations with FALL OUT BOY's Patrick Stump, Gerard Way, 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER's Ashton Irwin and ALL TIME LOW's Rian Dawson.
Biersack states: "['We Don't Have To Dance'] is hands down one of my favorite tracks from the record and it was fun to write about loathing social events, hatred of small talk and refusal to dance at clubs haha!"
Regarding the making of ANDY BLACK's debut CD, Biersack told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine: "It's completely different, very unlike my entire career, which has been spent in a collaborative effort with four other individuals. There's also a precedent when it comes to making a BLACK VEIL BRIDES record. At this point now, this is our fifth record that we're making — and that's not to say that we go in with a cookie-cutter approach, but we certainly know stylistically what we like. The odd thing about the solo record was there was no precedent."
Asked what ANDY BLACK sounds like, Biersack said: "I think my intention for this was to go as far in the other direction as possible. Sonically, the goal was to really play with music and a lot of different stuff, to have a lot of odd instrumentation and to have a lot of programmed stuff, keyboards and more classic, almost pop-rock guitar. It's more U2 than MEGADETH. There are no guitar solos on the record. There's a lot of drumming styles; there's some weird sleigh bells. It was about playing with music and seeing what happened. We came up with something in the vein of stuff I love — U2, Adam Ant… It's somewere between Springsteen, new romantic and modern goth-pop music."
Biersack previously described ANDY BLACK as a "fun and artistic way for me to try something that musically I wouldn't want to force into BLACK VEIL BRIDES."
Asked why he couldn't incorporate his songs into BLACK VEIL BRIDES, Biersack replied, "There are so many bands I loved growing up whose singer would have a new idea for a sound and then completely ruin the band by taking a shit on the whole audience. That wasn't my interest."
Biersack continued, "It would be different if the reason I was doing this was that I wanted to get away from BLACK VEIL BRIDES… This is more that I didn't want to cross the two things."
The singer said that when he informed his bandmates about the project, "I made it very clear… it was a passion project on the side, and everybody in the band gets it." 1

BAD BRAINS Launch $100,000 Crowdfunding Campaign For Ailing Guitarist DR. KNOWHardcore punk legends BAD BRAINS have released the following update:
"As many of you know, [BAD BRAINS guitarist] Gary Miller (a.k.a. Dr. Know or Doc) suffered cardiac arrest in early November last year. His condition quickly progressed to multiple organ failure, and he was on life support for almost two weeks. At the time, his doctors gave him a 5% chance of survival. But by the power of PMA, LOVE and FAMILY, he was able to pull through and survive.
"We started this campaign in an effort to raise money for Doc's medical expenses and additional care that will be needed once he returns home.
"For more information on how to help, please click this link. Thank you and keep up the PMA."
A number of musicians took to social media last November to express their concern about Dr. Know's health, with the Deen Ween Facebook group reporting that the guitarist was on life support. Other artists, including the LIVING COLOR vocalist Corey Glover and AGNOSTIC FRONT, also tweeted in support of the 57-year-old guitarist, who is one of only two members of BAD BRAINS to have played with the seminal D.C. group since they formed in 1977.
Back in July 2015, Dr. Know and Daryl Jenifer of the BAD BRAINS joined FOO FIGHTERS on stage at New York's Citi Field to perform the BAD BRAINS classics "How Low Can A Punk Get" and "The Regulator". FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl invited the special guests out to perform with the band and help him "live out my childhood fantasy". Grohl later described the experience as "the greatest fucking moment of my entire fucking life."
BAD BRAINS' most recent album was 2012's "Into The Future". 1

ACCEPT: Pro-Shot Footage Of Sioux Falls ConcertProfessionally filmed video footage of German/American metallers ACCEPT performing their classic song "Balls To The Wall" on March 3 at Badlands Pawn in Sioux Falls, South Dakota can be seen below.
The latest ACCEPT album, "Blind Rage", was released in August 2014 via Nuclear Blast. Like its two predecessors, 2010's "Blood Of The Nations" and 2012's "Stalingrad", the new effort was helmed by British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with MEGADETH, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, ARCH ENEMY and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. The cover artwork was created by Daniel Goldsworthy.
"Blind Rage" sold around 6,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann recently told Metal Rules about the songwriting process for the band's next CD: "It has always been the same formula for years, where Peter [Baltes, bass] and I jam on ideas, add some scratch vocals then combine it with other elements of songs. We let it sit and simmer for a little while come back to it. It's a piecemeal process that takes shape over a course of many weeks. Very seldom do we write a song after just one go at it. It's always about coming back to it and going over it again and again. Once we have a demo that's worth listening to, and an idea of what the songs is about, we give it to [singer] Mark Tornillo to write the lyrics and put his spin on it. It's meant to be released in 2017. It's always hard to plan these things. We made a mistake a few years back and committed to a date as the tour was booked and then had to scramble to finish the album. It wasn't fun and we don't want to do it again. We just want to work hard until we feel it's ready."
ACCEPT in April 2015 announced the addition of guitarist Uwe Lulis (GRAVE DIGGER, REBELLION) and drummer Christopher Williams to the group's ranks.
ACCEPT parted ways with guitarist Herman Frank and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann in December 2014. 4

NAPALM DEATH: Official 'Dear Slum Landlord' Video Released"Dear Slum Landlord", the new video from British grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH, can be seen below. The clip was created by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight Media and includes performance footage shot by Oliver Barth of Visions In Fear.
Comments NAPALM DEATH vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway: "Being a very queasy and deliberately monotone kind of song, we felt simplicity was the key with the video for 'Dear Slum Landlord'. Suitably, thanks to two production people in Oliver and Costin — who really understand the contrasting elements of NAPALM DEATH — it's simple, desolate, black and white and just that little bit grim, befitting the subject matter of interconnected housing/labour exploitation which does its best to remain hidden from view."
"Dear Slum Landlord" is taken from NAPALM DEATH's 15th studio album, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat", which was released in January 2015 via Century Media Records. The CD's striking artwork was created by Danish designer Frode Sylthe (Friktion.com), who has previously worked on the band's "Utilitarian" album as well as with such other acts as AT THE GATES, TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER, THE HAUNTED and BURST.
NAPALM DEATH and the MELVINS will join forces for the "Savage Imperial Death March Tour", a six-week spring trek that that kicks off on March 24 at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California.
"We have been talking about doing a tour like this for a long time so we are thrilled it's finally happening," said NAPALM DEATH bass player Shane Embury. "Having been longtime fans and friends of the MELVINS, we are very happy to be embarking on this six-week tour of musical madness with them and MELT BANANA. Expect the unexpected!"
This isn't the first time the two bands have collaborated. In 2004, Buzz Osborne, Shane Embury and Danny Herrera played together in VENOMOUS CONCEPT, with their debut release ("Retroactive Abortion") out via Ipecac Recordings. 5

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE: New Song 'Embrace The Journey… Upraised' Available For Streaming"Embrace The Journey… Upraised", a brand new song from Massachusetts-based metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's seventh album, "Incarnate", which will be released on March 11 via Roadrunner.
"Incarnate" track listing:
01. Alone I Stand02. Hate By Design03. Cut Me Loose04. Strength Of The Mind05. Just Let Go06. Embrace The Journey… Upraised07. Quiet Distress08. Until The Day09. It Falls On Me10. The Great Distress11. We Carry On12. Ascension
Bonus tracks:
13. Reignite14. Triumph Through Tragedy15. Loyalty
Asked in what way the making of "Incarnate" changed him, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach told RockSverige.se: "I think it initially started out that I had an idea of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go lyrically. I had a moment where I questioned stuff. I questioned myself as a writer, I questioned if what I was doing was the best it could be, and the answer was no, so I kind of spiraled myself into depression, almost purposely. I purposely put myself into a dark place and started thinking about the bigger questions of life, and from there I started to write stuff I never thought I'd write before and came to self-realizations about how I was raised and what I believe and don't believe. I'm in a good place now, but I question a lot of what I was raised with and I question a lot of my beliefs. All this stuff that surround how I was brought up, I realized some of that stuff I was just believing because I was taught it and I didn't really accept it as true. The way the state of the world is now and the way the American media has been aiming towards… between police brutality and gay rights, all these things that just upset me and anger me, I realized that the organization of religion and the organization of politics, I don't want anything to do with that anymore. Who we are as humans is so much greater than these confines that this particular systematic way of thinking puts on us. I think I liberated myself through a pretty heavy depression, but it was an artistic depression. I almost don't want to use depression; it was just a dark place. I didn't go quite down into the rabbit hole like I have before in the past, but enough so it affected my wife and she was worried about me. But, to me, it was like I needed to do it. I'd wake up in the morning and have extremely strong coffee and go out into the wilderness and spend all day just by myself and contemplate life and contemplate God. These heavy questions and I wanted to tackle that on this record, and I think that I did."
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist and producer Adam Dutkiewicz recently told Revolver magazine that Leach "hit a wall with ideas" during the songwriting process for "Incarnate" after completing the first three or four songs in the studio. "He couldn't find lyrics he was really stoked on," Adam explained. "But Jesse's a great lyricist and a great songwriter, so I just told him, 'Keep writing, and when you hit on something that inspires you, bring it to me.'"
Leach told Revolver about the "Incarnate" title: "The definition of incarnate is 'in the flesh.' And this record is who we are right now. Whereas [2013's] 'Disarm The Descent' was sort of my 'comeback' album, and was about us feeling out the new vibe. But now, after spending a few years traveling the world together, I think we're all in a really comfortable place. We definitely have a strong sense of self as to who we are as a band
The band will embark on a North American headline tour shortly after the new album's release. They will be joined by MEMPHIS MAY FIRE and 36 CRAZYFISTS for the trek, which runs from March 16 in San Antonio, Texas to April 24 near Charleston, South Carolina. 2

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE: Audio Samples Of Entire 'Tango Umbrella' AlbumAudio samples of all the tracks that are set to appear on "Tango Umbrella", the fourth album from the Minneapolis, Minnesota hard rock/industrial metal outfit AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE, can be streamed in the YouTUbe clip below. The CD will be released on March 25 via Napalm Records. The cover artwork was created by Sam Shearon. Comments AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE's Chad Hanks: "'Tango Umbrella', sonically, feels like a combination of 'The War Of Art' and 'The Feeding'. It's a logical progression for us, as we continue experimenting with different feels, sounds, vocal styles, etc. It's heavy in every way possible, and I really think our fans are going to love it. We made the record we wanted to hear, and I feel like we definitely achieved that."
AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE's sound remains firmly rooted in catchy alternative metal, the NWOAHM, with industrial influences and groovy heaviness. "Tango Umbrella" track listing:
01. Let All The World Believe02. Drowning Under Everything03. Perfectionist04. Sacred05. I Will Have My Day06. A King Among Men07. Suffer Elegantly08. Antidote09. Prolific Catastrophe10. Down And Depraved

DARK FUNERAL To Release 'Where Shadows Forever Reign' Album In JuneSwedish black metallers DARK FUNERAL will release their new album, "Where Shadows Forever Reign", on June 3 via Century Media.
Comments DARK FUNERAL guitarisdt Lord Ahriman: "Wow, did six years pass already? Time surely flies fast! But you know what, we're back! DARK FUNERAL is back! And in true DARK FUNERAL spirit, like so many times in the past, we continue to push all boundaries musically and bring black metal into a new, fresh and dark dimension. This is by far our most professional, technical, dynamic and epic album thus far. And compared to previous albums, each new song offers a unique spirit and identity that is more profound than ever. And whether you like extreme black metal or not, I'm sure every fan of metal will find songs on this album that they can enjoy to its fullest!"
He continues: "Every piece of the new album is combined into total perfection. The music, lyrics, musicianship, artwork and production. The artwork was made by Necrolord and the album was recorded at Dugout Studios with producer Daniel Bergstrand and studio engineer George Nerantzis. And I couldn't be more satisfied with each and everyones contribution.
"Anyway, it feels absolutely fantastic to be back with new music. And I can't wait to let you all enjoy our latest satanic symphony 'Where Shadows Forever Reign'. See you all soon somewhere on the road!"
DARK FUNERAL last year announced the addition of frontman Heljarmadr and bassist Natt to the group's ranks.
With roots in the second half of the '90s black metal scene and with tentacles in bands such as highly respected GRÁ, DOMGÅRD and CURSED 13 comes Heljarmadr, a raw force from the underground. Known as a fierce frontman, both on stage and on recordings with his previous bands, he has now stepped up and claimed a seat in the throne room of DARK FUNERAL to inflict deep scars and infect wounds in the black metal scene. The name Heljarmadr derives from the old Scandinavian languages, simply meaning "a man belonging to hell." With a lot of experience in the arts of creating dark satanic music, he is playing a key role in shaping the future vocal and lyrical direction of DARK FUNERAL. Expect nothing but excellence, pure darkness and uncompromising evil!
Before DARK FUNERAL, Natt was a member of the black/thrash metal band ANGREPP where he met his now-close friends Adrian Lawson (ANGREPP, IXXI) and Fredrik Widigs (THE UGLY, MARDUK) and later on joined the deeply devoted black metal act WITHERSHIN. 10

DAVE MUSTAINE: 'This Is By Far The Scariest Time That America Has Been In My Lifetime'MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was interviewed on a recent installment of HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta's official podcast, "The Jasta Show". You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud widget below.
Asked if the current two-party political system in the U.S. can really work, Mustaine said: "It's not a two-party system. I think that's just the way that they want the masses to look at it. There's four actual parties that people are aware of, if you say the names, and a fifth party that most people don't know about. There's the Independents, who run up the middle. There's the Libertarians, who probably… That's kind of like how a Rand Paul kind of guy is. I think you and I probably have a lot more along the lines of what a Libertarian is, because… For me, some of the Democratic stuff is a little too loosey-goosey, some of the Republican stuff is too tight-ass. And I've always been kind of right up the middle. I voted for both parties. I covered the Democratic national convention for Rock The Vote. I got a bill passed into law — the Motor Voter clause. So I've been involved in politics since '92.'
He continued: "I think that's one of the things that makes my heart ache is that so many people go through life… They just don't participate in stuff like this. And there's so many people who cast dispersions towards me because I am involved in writing about politics, and say, like, I should leave the country or I should die or I should this or I should that. And it's, like, you know, fucker? I've seen ten presidents in my lifetime, and this is by far probably the scariest time that America has been in my lifetime. I lived it; I have comparisons. Other people can say, 'I don't know what it was like back then.'"
Mustaine added: "Would I have wanted to live in the '50s and have to have my hair greased back every single day? Fuck no! It was hard enough growing up in the '60s. But what I'm saying is that part of the political process is if you don't say anything, people make decisions for you. And I don't want people making decisions for me. If the people, as a whole, make a decision, that's different."
Dave also talked about the fact that the media shapes how we interpret and observe political information, such as election coverage and other political events. He said: "You've gotta ask yourself, too, how much of this is real, how much of all of this political process has been bought off. I saw something that went around a couple of years ago that all the networks are owned by six people. When I saw that, I was kind of, like, 'Oh!' No wonder it's so easy to twist things. I read '1984' and how they can manipulate the news to make you think whatever you want. I mean, we don't know that any of this shit that we see is real. Unless you were there… I imagine the guys in EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, that situation [the November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris], being there is very sobering, to be in the middle of that stuff. But a lot of the other stuff that happens, you just kind of wonder, how much of this is propaganda?"
MEGADETH's latest album, "Dystopia", debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 49,000 equivalent album units in the week ending January 28.
In terms of pure album sales, "Dystopia" opened with 48,000 copies, marking MEGADETH's highest-charting album since 1992's "Countdown To Extinction" debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the chart dated August 1 of that year. "Dystopia" also logged the group's best sales week since 2007, when "United Abominations" landed at No. 8 with first-week sales of 54,000.
In addition to Mustaine, MEGADETH's current lineup includes longtime bassist David Ellefson, LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler and Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro, best known for his work with ANGRA. 14

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Reveals Details Of New, Self-Titled AlbumVeteran Arizona metallers FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have inked a worldwide deal with AFM Records. The band's new album, simply titled "Flotsam And Jetsam", will be released on May 20.
Comments AFM Records A&R representative Timo Hoffmann: "We're honored that FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have decided to join our roster. Of course we've followed their career for many years and always valued the band's qualities.
"This new, self-titled album is a blast! We've been convinced right from the very first demos sent.
"It was obvious to us why the album is titled as it is: 'Flotsam And Jetsam' holds the essence of what defines the band. This album is a statement, something to be proud of. And we are proud to start working with the band with such a special release."
Adds FLOTSAM AND JETSAM: "FLOTSAM AND JETSAM really appreciated the fact that AFM laid out a legitimate business plan for us when they made their offer to sign us. We believe they are as committed to us as a band, as we are to providing them with quality metal to get behind and promote.
"Along with signing to a new label, all the forward movement for the band in the last two years has also allowed us to partner with new team members, like Chris Collier of CMC21 Productions, who just completed the mixing and mastering of the album, and Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art out of the U.K., for the album cover and stage production art, who are both doing a phenomenal job for us.
"We're looking forward to playing the music on this album live, which hasn't been a luxury for the band on past releases, as well as debuting our new stage look."
"Flotsam And Jetsam" album track listing:
01. Seventh Seal02. Life Is A Mess03. Taser04. Iron Maiden05. Verge Of Tragedy06. Creeper07. L.O.T.D.08. The Incantation09. Monkey Wrench10. Time To Go11. Smoking Gun12. Forbidden Territories
Knutson told From Hero To Zero last summer about the band's forthcoming follow-up to 2012's "Ugly Noise": "The new record has songs that sound like they came from the '80s, some songs that sound like they came from the middle of our career, and some songs that sound like they're brand new, and they're all on one record together."
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM in 2014 parted ways with guitarist Edward Carlson and bassist Jason Ward and replaced them with Steve Conley and Michael Spencer, respectively. The band also recruited SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner after Kelly Smith left the group in November 2014 to focus on caring for his family.
Spencer stated about the new FLOTSAM AND JETSAM material: "There's a great, old-school thrash vibe going on with the direction of the songs and what originally influenced the band, mixed with a little of what we like about today's sound, in metal."
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM is:

SHARON OSBOURNE Says She's Caught OZZY In Bed With NanniesAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, Ozzy Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, was discussing recent scandals involving nannies on "The Talk" earlier this week when she revealed that she had caught Ozzy in bed with a couple of them in the past. Sharon recalled, "We used to have four nannies, because I had three children. I would work five days a week, I would travel."
Sharon added that the nannies would work on a rotating schedule, but called them "the bane of my existence," saying, "They were all wanting to be celebrities. They were all wanting money… I caught two of them in bed with Ozzy!"
She clarified that she had caught the two nannies in compromising positions with the Prince Of Darkness at "different times," adding that Ozzy was "out of his mind" on drugs at the time.
Sharon said she finally hired a "manny" named "Big Dave," concluding, "Never trust a nanny!"
Other marriages that have recently been ruptured at least partially because of nannies have included that of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, as well as that of Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani. 24

KIRK WINDSTEIN Hopes That PHILIP ANSELMO 'Can Better Himself And Move Forward'CROWBAR frontman Kirk Windstein has commented on the incident over a month ago when ex-PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo said "white power" and made the Nazi salute on stage. Anselmo later claimed he was referring to drinking white wine as part of an "inside joke" but has since released a video message, saying that he "deserves completely" the "heat" that he has been getting over his actions and claiming to be "a thousand percent apologetic to anyone that took offense to what [he] said."
During an appearance on HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta's official podcast, "The Jasta Show", Windstein — who was bandmates with Anselmo in DOWN from 1991 until 2013 — stated about Philip's actions: "I don't condone what he did at all, and I wanna go on record as saying that. But if I was to come out now and make some big statement [about it], [it would look like all] I am doing is trying to get my name in the press and beating a man that's already down in order to do that. After it immediately happened, I understand making a statement, and I thought Pepper's [Keenan, DOWN guitarist] statement was great. I thought he hit the nail on the head with what he said. Of course, I can't condone any of it, but for me to come out and make a public comment on it would be stupid right now; there's no need for it. It's not gonna make the situation better or worse. It's just unnecessary."
Windstein added: "It was a big story, and rightly so, but it's… To me… I always quote Phil, which is ironic, 'cause we're talking about this. Yesterday don't mean shit. And that does not mean by any means that I condone what he did. That's Philip's actions and that was his choice. I don't condone it, but it's in the past. And we can only hope that he can better himself and move forward and try to [get] some type of positivity out of this unfortunate incident."
Several other notable musicians have come out and criticized Anselmo for his actions, including MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn, who uploaded an eleven-minute video response to the incident in which he called Anselmo a "big bully" and described Philip's behavior as "fucking wrong."
In a message posted to his personal web site in the days following the incident, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian suggested Anselmo show how sincere he is by making a donation to Jewish human rights organization the Simon Wiesenthal Center. He also wrote: "Philip's actions were vile and that should be the focus here; anything else is just noise." 4

SLAYER's KERRY KING: PHILIP ANSELMO 'Crossed A Line' With His 'White Power' Gesture, Nazi SaluteSLAYER guitarist Kerry King has commented on the incident over a month ago when ex-PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo said "white power" and made the Nazi salute on stage. Anselmo later claimed he was referring to drinking white wine as part of an "inside joke" but has since released a video message, saying that he "deserves completely" the "heat" that he has been getting over his actions and claiming to be "a thousand percent apologetic to anyone that took offense to what [he] said."
Asked by Vanyaland for his take on what Philip did and whether he had any advice for Anselmo, given SLAYER's own issues in the past of being called anti-Semitic, King responded: "[SLAYER being accused of anti-Semitism] is all unwarranted; I've said since 1986, if [the SLAYER song] 'Angel Of Death' [about Nazi physician Josef Mengele] was a documentary on History Channel, it would probably win awards, but SLAYER said it — so they're racist. That's just people not knowing what things are about. Now, what Phillip did — I wasn't there, but, of course, I've seen some of it [on video]… [laughs] There's a line I think he crossed a little bit; yeah, he may not come back from that. It was massive."

Former IN FLAMES Guitarist JESPER STRÖMBLAD Quits THE RESISTANCEFormer IN FLAMES guitarist Jesper Strömblad has left THE RESISTANCE, the Swedish metal band he formed in 2011 with Marco Aro (vocals, THE HAUNTED) and Glenn Ljungström (guitar, ex-IN FLAMES).
The remaining members of THE RESISTANCE have issued a statement, saying: "It's been a long time coming with a lots of ups and downs regarding Jesper and his struggle with depression. We all thought we could ride out this storm but sometimes all things have to come to an end.
"We part ways on friendly terms and don't want any bad blood run under the bridge.
"We've written and re-written this countless times and there's just not a good way to put it… Jesper is no longer going to be in the band with us.
"To be honest, this has been really painful. After taking time to consider how to move forward, we ultimately found that we really do believe THE RESISTANCE can, and should, continue on. And so we will.
"We're really thankful for the people who have helped see us through hard times before and what we've discovered is that those people are just as much a part of this as we will ever be.
"We're hopeful for THE RESISTANCE's future and we're also excited for what Jesper's going to do next.
"Thank you all for your support and your belief in us. It's kept us going.
"We will see some of you really soon, we hope. Until then, spread the good old violent fun!"
Jesper has since released a statement of his own, disputing his former bandmates' version of the split. He wrote: "So I read on THE RESISTANCE page that I quit the band. Yes, I did. I was not aware that depression was the reason, though.
"I was to hell and back last year. I totally admit, though, I am alcoholic and the band suffered a lot for that, but stuff happenend during that time that changed my mind about lot and the direction I personally wanted to go.
"I want to go all in metal/[hardcore], but, hell, I made 'Scars' — a proof that I was back and not a drunk in the gutter. I think all in the band can agree we kind of stood in a limbo, and it was lot of frustration.
"I will not say a bad word about my former members. They have always been really supportive, but there is always more than one side to a story.
"I wish them the best, and my depression...well, haven't seen it in a long time, therefore my surprise to read about myself on THE RESISTANCE page about my whom I luckily have under control and play more than ever.
"Big respect for Marco, Chris, Rob and Daniel. Good luck in future endeavors!"
THE RESISTANCE's sophomore full-length album, "Coup De Grâce", came out on January 22 via earMUSIC.
Ljungström wrote music for, and played on, "Coup De Grâce", but left the band after the EP was recorded due to "personal stuff." Joining Aro in THE RESISTANCE's current lineup are Daniel Antonsson (ex-SOILWORK, DARK TRANQUILLITY) on guitar, Chris Barkensjö (ex-KAAMOS, GRAVE) on drums, and Rob Hakemo (ex-M.A.N.) on bass.
THE RESISTANCE released its debut EP, "Rise From Treason", in North America on January 29, 2013 via earMUSIC. Another EP, "Torture Tactics", followed in February 2015.
THE RESISTANCE made its live debut on October 8, 2011 at Club Distortion in Stockholm, Sweden.
Strömblad quit IN FLAMES in February 2010 in order to continue receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction. 8
