SCORPIONS Post Rare "Big City Nights" Live Footage From Monsters Of Rock 1986

SCORPIONS Post Rare "Big City Nights" Live Footage From Monsters Of Rock 1986

German rock legends the Scorpions have posted rare live footage on their official YouTube channel. It was shot on September 13th, 1986 in Nürnberg, Germany.

"Yeah! We loved playing at Monsters Of Rock in Nürnberg along with Ozzy Osbourne, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and the Michael Schenker Group."

In addition, Rockpop was a popular music show on German ZDF Television in the 70s and early 80s. Check out the Scorpions slightly pyromaniac performance (towards the end) of “He’s A Woman, She’s A Man”.

Scorpions have released 50th Anniversary Deluxe Editions of their seminal albums Blackout, Love At First Sting, Animal Magnetism, Lovedrive, Savage Amusement, Taken By Force, Tokyo Tapes and World Wide Live.

“Arizona” was one of the single outtakes from the Blackout album. Check out this interesting promo video, especially the choreography of the girls:

An album player video for Tokyo Tapes can be found below:

Streaming below is another exclusive video from the Tokyo Tapes live album, the last Scorpions album with the legendary Ulrich Jon Roth on guitar.

This version of “Robot Man”, recorded on April 27th, 1978 at Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo, was not on the original tracklisting for the Tokyo Tapes album but has been released for the first time on the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Tokyo Tapes.

IN FLAMES Frontman Rates Metal Mascots (Video)

IN FLAMES Frontman Rates Metal Mascots (Video)

During a recent chat with Louder Noise, vocalist Anders Fridén of Swedish metallers IN FLAMES gave his opinion on some of the most famous heavy metal mascots, such as Eddie, Jack O. Lantern, Murray, and, of course, Jester Head. Check out the clip below.

IN FLAMES drummer Daniel Svensson announced last month that he was leaving the band to focus on his family life. He said in a statement: "It's hard to leave what have become my second family, but now it's time for me to take care and spend more time with the most important people in my life — my wife and my three daughters."

IN FLAMES' latest album, "Siren Charms", sold around 9,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 26 on The Billboard 200 chart.

PAPA ROACH

PAPA ROACH's JACOBY SHADDIX Answers 25 'Important' Questions (Video)

Impericon.com recently met up with PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix and asked him "25 important either-or questions." Check out his responses below.

PAPA ROACH's latest album, "F.E.A.R.", came out at the end of January. The new disc was recorded in Las Vegas, taking the band out of their Sacramento, California home base for the first time since 2006. PAPA ROACH worked with the father-and-son producing team of Kevin and Kane Churko on the new CD.

Shaddix told The Pulse Of Radio that he wasn't very happy at first about going to Sin City to record. "I ended up in this city where I've had some of my greatest failures and worst decision making, and some of my biggest debacles of my life happened in Vegas, you know," he said. "And I believe I was sent back to that city to go do right this time, and we went there and I just faced that fear of living in this city that I felt was gonna eat me alive. But really and truly I just gave myself to this music 100 percent, and that's what pulled me through."

Shaddix admitted that the band went into the studio this time with almost no new material prepared, explaining, "Usually when we begin working, we'll have a bunch of demos, and I'll have a bag of lyrics ready to go. We didn't have those things this time."

Guitarist Jerry Horton added, "We walked into the studio with nothing. It was frightening since it was so different, but it was also liberating. Once the ball started rolling, it was a snowball effect."

DROWNING POOL: Official Lyric Video For New Song 'By The Blood'

Texas heavy rockers DROWNING POOL will release their new album, "Hellelujuah", on February 5 via eOne Music. The follow-up to 2013's "Resilience" was recorded with renowned producer Jason Suecof (AUGUST BURNS RED, DEICIDE, DEATH ANGEL).

"Hellelujuah" track listing:

01. Push02. By The Blood03. Drop04. Hell To Pay05. We Are The Devil06. Snake Charmer07. My Own Way08. Goddamn Vultures09. Another Name10. Sympathy Depleted11. Stomping Ground12. Meet The Bullet13. All Saints Day

The official lyric video for the first single from "Hellelujuah", a song called "By The Blood", can be seen below.

"We're excited as hell to announce the release of our new record titled 'Hellelujah'," says the band. "This is the most metal record from DROWNING POOL to date. Can we get a Hellelujah? Amen!"

DROWNING POOL earlier in the year embarked on the second leg of its "Sinner Unlucky 13th Anniversary Tour", on which the band played its 2001 debut album, "Sinner", from start to finish.

The "Sinner" album arrived in June 2001 and featured the monster single "Bodies", plus follow-up rock radio hits "Sinner" and "Tear Away".

Original DROWNING POOL frontman Dave Williams, who sang on "Sinner", passed away from heart disease on the band's tour bus in August 2002, while the group was out promoting the record.

In January 2004, the band announced the addition of singer Jason "Gong" Jones. Their sophomore effort, "Desensitized", followed several months later. In 2006, Ryan McCombs assumed the vocal duties, and a year later they released "Full Circle", followed by a self-titled album in 2010. McCombs, the only singer to ever record more than one album with the group, departed the following year, and was replaced by SUICIDE HOOK vocalist Jasen Moreno, who made his official debut on "Resilience".

Video: WHITESNAKE Performs At London

Video: WHITESNAKE Performs At London's Wembley Arena

Fan-filmed video footage of WHITESNAKE's December 18 performance at London, England's Wembley Arena can be seen below.

WHITESNAKE's new touring lineup — David Coverdale (vocals), Joel Hoekstra (guitar), Reb Beach (guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums) and Michele Luppi (keyboards) — made its live debut on May 28 at Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Washington.

WHITESNAKE's twelfth studio album, "The Purple Album", was released in May via Frontiers Music Srl.

"The Purple Album" is billed as "a re-imagination of classic songs from David Coverdale's time as the lead singer for DEEP PURPLE's Mark III and Mark IV studio albums." PURPLE classics revamped for the new set include "Stormbringer", "Lady Double Dealer", "Soldier Of Fortune" and "Sail Away". Coverdale was DEEP PURPLE's frontman from late 1973 to early 1976 and sang on the albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band". Coverdale explained that shortly before DEEP PURPLE co-founder Jon Lord's 2012 death, he was eyeing a DEEP PURPLE gig featuring all the band members throughout the lineups. The Pulse Of Radio asked Coverdale what if any relationship he has with the frontman he replaced — the great Ian Gillan. "Ian was one of the nicest blokes I met," he said. "I'd flown over to [England to] do a charity show for Roger Glover at the [Royal] Albert Hall — a thing called 'Butterfly Ball' [in 1975] — and Ian was there and we ended up carousing for, like, four days and nights. I ended up sleeping from the moment the plane took off from Heathrow back to Los Angeles. Woke up as we landed. The perfect journey! [Laughs] But, yeah, I have absolutely no problem sharing a microphone with Ian. None. Y'know? To me, it would be the ultimate expression of gratitude to breathtaking loyalty from PURPLE fans. It's amazing. It truly is."

The deluxe edition of "The Purple Album" features two bonus tracks, four music videos and a "Behind The Scenes" featurette on the recording of the album.

ROB ZOMBIE To Release

ROB ZOMBIE To Release 'The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser' Album

Rob Zombie has uploaded a one-and-a-half-minute teaser for his forthcoming album, "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", which is tentatively due in early 2016.

The first full song from the disc is expected to arrive on January 11, 2016.

Rob Zombie spoke to Louder Noise about why he has held back the release of his new album even though the record was completed months ago. Zombie said: "It'll probably come out in March, because what I wanna do is I wanna do a very large visual component to go with the record — shoot thirteen videos, or shoot a movie go with it. And because of [Zombie's upcoming sixth live-action feature film, a horror thriller called] '31', I couldn't get to that yet. So I'm gonna do that probably in January, so we'll put it out soon after that."

He continued: "I love it. I mean, I really like the record. The last record was my favorite record in a long time. 'Cause I had kind of hit a low with making records. It just kind of got boring; I hated being in the studio, and I kind of got reinspired on the last record. And this sort of follows up on it. So I think that, much like '31'… You just have those things in your career where you're, like, they all can't be the best one. With records, sometimes you have those moments where you can tell, 'This one's special.' And that's how it feels."

Zombie told Loudwire that the follow-up to 2013's "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" was recorded over the course of a year, with the band working for a few weeks, taking a break for a few months, then coming back. He said, "We were living with it for a long time, and it really — I think it made the record so much better."

Although Rob spends a lot of time making movies, he told The Pulse Of Radio a while back he's not ready to quit music yet. He said: "People go, 'How long can you do this, how long do you want to do this?' I want to do it as long as it's fun, because that's what it's supposed to be. I mean, I don't need the money, so I don't have to drag my ass out on tour just to make money. I'm all good there, so if it's not fun, it's nothing, it's just stupid, you know. And when you're not having fun, you're not gonna do good work. You're gonna seem like a miserable guy who's just doing it for the money, and I just never wanted to do that."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Members Pay Musical Tribute To SCOTT WEILAND

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Members Pay Musical Tribute To SCOTT WEILAND

The surviving members of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have paid tribute to former singer Scott Weiland with a video where they spotlight one of Weiland's most powerful, resounding vocal performances.

"Recently the three of us sat down together to share our memories of Scott and take a moment to reflect on the amazing times we shared," guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz said in a statement to Rolling Stone. "We put the master up of a song called 'Atlanta' from the 'No. 4' record that we feel really highlights the true brilliance of Scott. We would like to share it with you."

"Together let's honor Scott. ... 'Memories of Candles and Incense.' Having the opportunity to listen to these tracks individually reveal the beauty of Scott's lyrical and melodic gift. This is one of the many musical moments we shared together. It is in this way we would like to remember Scott."

Toxicology tests revealed on Friday (December 18) that Weiland died from a combination of drugs and alcohol. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner in Minneapolis said that the former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman overdosed on cocaine, MDA — which is chemically related to ecstasy — and ethanol. The report also indicated that heart disease and asthma were "significant" conditions and that Weiland's "multi-substance dependence" was also a factor.

Weiland was found dead on his tour bus on December 3 at the age of 48.A small amount of cocaine was found on the bus, with Tommy Black, bassist for Weiland's band THE WILDABOUTS, arrested for possession. He was later released without being charged.

Weiland's wife, photographer Jamie Weiland, told TMZ at the time of her husband's death that he was drug free for years, adding, "He was the best he has ever been."

But Scott's former wife, Mary Forsberg Weiland, published a brutally candid letter online a few days after he ex's death, saying, "[Scott's children] lost their father years ago."

Weiland had a history of drug abuse. He was arrested in 1995 for attempting to buy crack cocaine before being arrested again two years later for heroin possession.

In 1999, the singer was ordered to spend a year in a county-jail recovery center due to a probation violation. He entered rehab following a DUI arrest in November 2007.

STP fired Weiland in February 2013 for his erratic behavior after reuniting with him in 2010 for a series of tours and one self-titled album. The band had previously been on hiatus since 2002, primarily due to the singer's struggles with drugs and alcohol.

DOOGIE WHITE & LA PAZ - New Album To Be Released In April

DOOGIE WHITE & LA PAZ - New Album To Be Released In April

British band, Doogie White & La Paz, return with a brand new studio album entitled Shut Up And Rawk!. Almost immediately after their previous offering, The Dark And The Light (2013) had been released, Chic McSherry and Doogie White started writing new material. A total of 17 ideas were demo’d with 11 of them finally being crafted into songs for a new album. Recording could only be done in stages because of other commitments, but in many ways that extra time allowed the songs to develop and mature into a very powerful rock album, entitled Shut Up And Rawk!, which is due for a worldwide release via Metal Mind Productions on April 8th.

Chic McSherry, the band’s guitarist comments: “The great thing about being in La Paz is that we have been together now for over 30 years and we all know each other extremely well. That helps a lot when writing new songs: we just know what to do. This record was a long time in the making though, mainly due to Doogie and Paul’s touring schedule. The initial demo tracks were actually finished by me in 2013, literally within weeks of the release of The Dark And The Light. It was the same process we always use: I would write what I call a ‘framework’ using a drum machine and the basic guitar parts, send it to Doogie and he would say ‘yeah, I can work with that’ or ‘no, doesn’t work for me’. We started with 17 of these ideas and reduced them to 11 workable songs. Shut Up And Rawk! took a while but it was worth it. Now we can’t wait to get it released!”

The album has been mixed and mastered by Rolf Munkes at Empire Studios in Frankfurt, Germany. Full details to follow soon.

La Paz was formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level - they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. Andy Mason (keyboards) joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap. Unquestionably the loudest and the most accomplished was/is their current drummer, Paul McManus.

They gigged regularly and played some prestigious venues including the world-famous Marquee Club in London as well as at some festivals in Milton Keynes. They were featured regularly in music magazines of the day, and attracted interest from a number of UK and US record companies, finally agreeing terms with one of them for a three album deal. But it was not to be - for reasons which were never explained by the record label the deal fell through at the very last minute. Sadly the band didn't survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now Michael Schenker. And then legendary DJ Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio called Doogie and asked him if he would do some acoustic numbers at The Garage in Glasgow for Rock Radio's Birthday Bash in January 2008. Doogie agreed and asked Chic to play guitar.

It was a big ask after 20 years: almost 1000 people, Doogie singing alone and Chic with one flamenco guitar! "We had such a blast though and it woke up so many great memories in both of us that we decided to give it a go with the full band for my 50th birthday" said Chic. And so the full band started to rehearse and it was clear that they could still play a bit. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the idea of re-recording some of the favourites from the set that had never had a proper production job was conceived. The final result can be heard on the album Granite, released in February 2012 on Metal Mind Productions. The band’s second album, The Dark And The Light, was also released on Metal Mind Productions on 27th May 2013 to critical acclaim.

Live appearances are difficult due to Doogie White’s touring schedule with Michael Schenker and Paul McManus’ also being involved with Gun, but the band made a rare appearance as the headline act on the opening night of the 2014 Hard Rock Hell Festival on March 20th. The show was “packed” and well received.

La Paz lineup:

Doogie White - vocal
Chic McSherry - guitar
Alex Carmichael - bass
Andy Mason - keyboards
Paul McManus - drums

LIMP BIZKIT

LIMP BIZKIT

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has apparently been banned from the Ukraine for five years. Billboard.com have word of local Ukrainian publication Apostrof reporting that Durst had recently been banned from the country “in the interests of guaranteeing the security of our state.” The ban was later confirmed by the Interfax News Agency, though no additional details were provided.

As to why Durst would be banned, it probably has a lot to do with his recent interests in Crimea, a region of the Ukraine that was controversially annexed by Russia in 2014. Durst had previously expressed interest in buying a residence in that area and was also said to have partnered with their local government to produce Crimea and Russian friendly film and TV projects. That arrangement was said to be a part of a cultural initiative backed by Crimea’s government, which has been trying to entice Western celebrities to the region for film/TV with various incentives. It’s probably also worth noting his wife Kseniya Beryazina was originally from Crimea.

While it’s not clear if it was part of that arrangement, Durst recently shared a number of videos from the band’s extensive Russian touring last month, in which he took in various local culture, visited a vodka distillery and spoke to students at a Russian school.
