Holland's ELEGY Announce Reunion Tour; Back Catalogue To Be Re-Issued On Limited Edition Picture Disc Vinyl

Holland's ELEGY Announce Reunion Tour; Back Catalogue To Be Re-Issued On Limited Edition Picture Disc Vinyl

After almost 25 years, Elegy celebrate the release of their entire 8 album collection on special picture disc vinyls with The Reunion tour, starting in 2023. Looking back upon their long career, Elegy have sold more than 250,000 albums in more than 60 countries worldwide.

The origins of the band name Elegy as dictionary’s explanation is rock solid. A poem written in elegiac meter; a lament or song of sorrow. However, the band's entire musical history was nothing more than a unique success story in the annals of Prog rock metal.

Antje Lange (Noise Records): "Elegy is one of the most talented bands I worked with. Extremely creative and virtuosic. We worked together for many years and it was always a pleasure sharing ideas with this dedicated band. I am really happy to hear that Elegy has re-united and I wish them all the best from the depth of my heart."

Elegy has reunited with their ultimate line-up;

Ian Parry – Vocals
Henk van der Laars – Guitar
Gilbert Pot – Guitar / keyboards
Martin Helmantel – Bass
Dirk Bruinenberg – Drums

The band will perform songs from their first three albums - Labyrinth Of Dreams, Supremacy, and Lost - as well as their internationally successful State Of Mind record from  1997, and followed Manifstation Of Fear from 1998, produced by Helloween's Keeper Of The Seven Keys producer Tommy Newton.

Stay tuned for updates.

Elegy released seven albums and one EP between 1992 and 2002:

Labyrinth of Dreams (1992)
Supremacy (1994)
Lost (1995)
Primal Instinct (EP) (1996)
State of Mind (1997)
Manifestation of Fear (1998)
Forbidden Fruit (2000)

THE HU Release "Black Thunder" Single / Video Featuring SERJ TANKIAN And DL Of BAD WOLVES From Rumble Of Thunder: Deluxe Album

THE HU Release "Black Thunder" Single / Video Featuring SERJ TANKIAN And DL Of BAD WOLVES From Rumble Of Thunder: Deluxe Album

Following the success of their acclaimed 2022 sophomore effort Rumble Of Thunder, groundbreaking Mongolian rock group The Hu —who use traditional Mongolian instrumentation, throat singing and perform entirely in their native language—have announced a deluxe version of the album will be released June 30 via Better Noise Music. Rumble Of Thunder: Deluxe Album will further highlight the band’s “stadium-sized metal riffs and thunderous vocal melodies” (Revolver Magazine) with seven new tracks: four acoustic renditions and three newly recorded singles featuring guest appearances and English-translated vocals from some of rock’s top musicians including William DuVall of Alice In Chains, Serj Tankian (System of A Down), DL of Bad Wolves and international solo artist LP (Laura Pergolizzi). Pre-orders for the album across all digital platforms as well as physically on CD and vinyl are available now at this location.

The Hu have unveiled the deluxe album’s second single, the volcanic anthem "Black Thunder (feat. Serj Tankian and DL of Bad Wolves)". Following the release of the eco-conscious single "This Is Mongol (feat. William Duvall of Alice In Chains)”, in February, the new track includes a refreshed look at the culturally shaped track with a new perspective and English-translated vocals. Its original “visually stunning” (Louder Sound) music video was filmed in The Hu’s home country of Mongolia, logging 3 million views to date. The video of the Serj Tankian and DL featured track directed by Michael Lombardi (The Retailiators, Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach)--is also out today. View it streaming below.

The Hu band leader Gala comments: "'Black Thunder'—the latest single from our sophomore album, Rumble of Thunder—is the composition we worked on the longest, and because of that, we recorded many different variations of the song, The lyrics and the video have several different meanings on the surface as well as on a deeper level. Therefore, every version of 'Black Thunder' carries a certain unique idea. Our producer and our band members were amazed by the additions that were made by DL and Serj and their unique singing styles, which added to our beloved song. DL’s powerful vocals, topped by the Serj’s signature voice and one-of-a-kind Armenian-American style, is shedding different light to The Hu’s music. We hope our fans enjoy this featured version and feel the soul of the song through their ears.”

Tankian shares his experience working with The Hu: "I had discovered the Hu’s music from a YouTube video that a friend sent me and was instantly struck by their powerful and delightful merging of Mongolian folk and metal. A few years back I had scored a film called Furious where we also used the legendary Tuva singing and heavy guitars. So, when they reached out to collaborate, I was intrigued. I appreciate the pride with which they represent their culture through music. It led me down a historical rabbit hole of Mongolians and Armenia. Genghis Khan conquered Armenia along with the rest of Europe, but the Mongols also later teamed up with Armenia to fight the Turkish hordes. Happy I had the chance to collaborate with the Hu and learn all of this in the process."

Says DL: "Working on this version of The Hu's 'Black Thunder' was so much fun and so different from what I normally get to do. Their vision, their voices…they’re special. This is more than music, it’s a movement, it’s culture, and I’m honored that I was presented with the opportunity to be part of it."

The Hu will bring their enveloping live show to audiences across Europe this summer as they embark on a headlining run in support of their 2022 sophomore album, Rumble Of Thunder, via Better Noise Music. The tour kicks off June 6 with their set at Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria on and includes venue and festival stops across the UK and Europe until they reach their last stop on July 22 at Malakofff Festival in Norway.

RUÏM Feat. Former MAYHEM Guitarist Announce Debut Album

RUÏM Feat. Former MAYHEM Guitarist Announce Debut Album

Ruïm was formed in 2020 by the Norwegian born, Grammy award winning guitarist Blasphemer (Rune Eriksen), known from acts such as Vltimas and Mayhem. Joining Blasphemer on drums is French born drummer César Vesvre (Agressor, Thagirion).

Driven by a firm desire to revisit the style of music he has dedicated himself to and been associated with since the mid-‘90s and inspired by the rediscovery of a long lost tape of old, unused Mayhem-era riffs from 98/99, the concept of starting a new project based around these ideas manifested itself quickly. Soon, a new vision was born for an album immersed in Brazilian witchcraft and the left-hand path of the Umbanda tradition - a practice in which Blasphemer himself is taught in - to deliver a new blackened opus in the vein Blasphemer has been synonymous with since his inception into Mayhem back in 1994 (until 2007).

Black Royal Spiritism – I – O Sino da Igreja is Ruïm’s debut studio album. It presents a glimpse of something new, unique, visionary and highly eclectic. This album marks the beginning of a concept set to span a trilogy of releases exploring and incorporating a deeply personal expression of Blasphemer’s own beliefs regarding the greater spirits of the left-hand path. A pitch-black offering, Black Royal Spiritism is steeped in ominous and eerie, unnerving darkness. Each track is meticulously woven with a sinister undercurrent, given flesh by Blasphemer’s highly distinctive brutal riffing style, with atmospheric, ambient, and clean passage interludes featuring among the chaos.

Vocals on Black Royal Spiritism – I – O Sino da Igreja are also handled by Blasphemer himself, sung in a mix of English, Portuguese and Norwegian, with lyrical themes rooted in a celebration and dedication to the lore and rituals of linha da esquerda.

The album was recorded at Drudenhaus Studio in France and mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door and artwork created by Sindre Foss Skancke.

Black Royal Spiritism – I – O Sino da Igreja will be released on Peaceville Records on May 26 on CD / LP / Limited edition gold coloured vinyl and digitally. Preorder options available here.

“The Triumph (Of Night & Fire)”

KINGDOM OF TYRANTS Feat. MELIAH RAGE, STEEL ASSASSIN Members Release “Ghosts Of Industry” Music Video Plus Interview

KINGDOM OF TYRANTS Feat. MELIAH RAGE, STEEL ASSASSIN Members Release “Ghosts Of Industry” Music Video Plus Interview

Metal On Metal Records has published two videos featuring Kingdom Of Tyrants, a U.S. power/heavy metal band comprising veterans of the Boston, MA, metal scene, whose debut album Architects Of Power is slated to be released on CD and digitally on April 20.

"A Boston Metal Story" is an interview with guitarists Kevin Curran (Steel Assassin) and Michael Mooney (Steel Assassin), vocalist Mike Munro (ex-Meliah Rage), drummer Stu Dowie (Meliah Rage) and bass player Dave Liolios who talk about their shared history and their new project.

"The blend of band mates is just top-notch. You couldn't ask for better men to be surrounded by; friends, musicianship, no pressure, everybody's doing this for the same reasons and that's just because we want to. We didn't do it because we had to, we're doing it because we want to, because we love each other, because we had never played all together in this particular arrangement before. And once we started writing songs, the chemistry became evident, and it just flows. I am probably head over heels about this project more than anything I've ever done." - Michael Mooney.

As mentioned in the interview, the band has recently filmed two video clips, one of which is for "Ghosts Of Industry", a song inspired by the History Channel series about the Gilded Age called "The Men Who Built America" and, like the interview, directed and produced by Rudy Childs.

SPIRIT IN THE ROOM Unleashes “I Used To Be A Machine” Performance Video; Live Dates Confirmed

SPIRIT IN THE ROOM Unleashes “I Used To Be A Machine” Performance Video; Live Dates Confirmed

Spirit In The Room is pleased to unveil a live video for the track "I Used To Be A Machine”. The disquieting hymn appears on the band’s Flamingo EP, released last year via Housecore Records.

If you ever wondered what goes on in the head of a film noir hitman, horror novel asylum inmate, or a golden age silver screen villain, it might sound something like Spirit In The Room. The vision of Louisiana-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dennis R. Sanders unfurls through cigarette smoke, cheap booze, and distortion like an anachronistic fever dream soundtracked by a collision of gothic vocal hues, immersive alternative architecture, and jarring metallic catharsis. It’s scary at times. It’s sad at other times. However, it’s always unpredictable - especially on Flamingo.

Elaborates Sanders of "I Used To Be A Machine,” “We invited a couple of friends and shot a live session at Center Staging in Burbank recently. This is one of the songs we filmed. It’s also my favorite song from the Flamingo EP. It’s a song about being at war with your shadow self. Which I’m sure is something we can all relate to.”

Spirit In The Room has confirmed a host of live dates through April and May including an appearance at Days In Space Festival in Bakersfield, California, with additional shows to be announced in the weeks to come.

Dates:

April
6 - Transplant Brewery – Palmdale, CA
19 - Alex’s Bar - Long Beach, CA
28 - Kensington Club - San Diego, CA
29 - Days In Space Festival @ The Empty Space – Bakersfield, CA

May
4 - The Monty Bar – Los Angeles, CA

AVALAND - The Legend Of The Storyteller Full Album Audio Preview Streaming

AVALAND - The Legend Of The Storyteller Full Album Audio Preview Streaming

Fantasy symphonic power metal band, France's Avaland, will release their sophomore full-length, The Legend Of The Storyteller, on Friday, March 31, via Rockshots Records. Check out a full album audio preview below:

Compared to its predecessor, The Legend Of The Storyteller is heavier and is a much more epic power metal record full of anthems upon anthems for fans to chant to as they are taken on a journey over twelve theatric tracks. The record also hears double vocal duties from Adrien G. Gzagg and Jeff Kanji, along with album guests that include Zak Stevens (Savatage / TSO), Madie (Nightmare / Faith In Agony), Pierre “Cara” Carabalona (Eltharia), Ivan Castelli (Lionsoul), Angèle Macabiès, Jens Ludwig (Edguy) and Bruno Ramos (Sortilège / Manigance).

Lead by Adrien G. Gzagg (autor / composer / lead singer / synths and orchestrations), the album's storyline is aprequel to the band's first album Theater Of Sorcery, as he explains further:

"This album, as the first one, is a journey, a trip out of our world, into the universe of Avaland. We enjoy seeing Avaland as a great saga, as a movie, or series. We feel like listening to Avaland is like watching Game Of Thrones, The Lord Of The Rings, or reading comics, it’s an escape from everyday life. For this album, we took a lot of inspiration from Game Of Thrones and Arthurian Myths. We love fantasy and mythologies and we also find ourselves having a great fascination for alchemy and esoterism. Time is also a great subject, it's mystical… in fact, time will be at the center of this saga. This new opus is showing a heavier and darker atmosphere of Avaland’s theatrical universe. Are you ready to be part of The Legend Of The Storyteller?"

BOUNDARIES Release New Single "Bedlam"; Audio Streaming

Boundaries, whose 3DOT Recordings’ debut album, Burying Brightness, arrived in October, have released a new song, “Bedlam”. Listen here, and below.

The song is part of a two-song digital single dubbed “Armageddon,” with the title track arriving in May. Both songs were recorded during the Burying Brightness sessions with producer Randy Leboeuf (The Acacia Strain, Kublai Khan).

“We utilized their voices for the first time,” Matt McDougal said of the band’s approach to the session that bore both Burying Brightness and “Bedlam.” “There’s definitely a new dynamic. We focused on writing some choruses. We made it a little prettier and calmer, changing up the listening experience. We wanted to use all of the tools we have at our disposal on this record. We didn’t leave anything out.”

“Our goal is to write exactly the kinds of songs we want to with no barriers,” adds guitar player Cory Emond. “I feel like we did that. We’ve always wanted to have songs with singing, but we were never able to capture it until now. We also have some of the heaviest songs we’ve ever written. It has both extremes.”

Watch PANTERA Perform At Tokyo's LOUD PARK Festival

Watch PANTERA Perform At Tokyo's LOUD PARK Festival

PANTERA headlined the 2023 "comeback" edition of Japan's Loud Park festival. The two-day "limited" event took place on March 25 at Intex Osaka in Osaka and March 26 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City near Tokyo.

Fan-filmed video of the Tokyo concert, which marked PANTERA's second live appearance of 2023, can be seen below.

PANTERA's setlist for the Tokyo show was as follows:

01. Mouth For War
02. A New Level
03. Strength Beyond Strength
04. Becoming
05. I'm Broken
06. Use My Third Arm
07. 5 Minutes Alone
08. This Love
09. Yesterday Don't Mean Shit
10. Fucking Hostile
11. Planet Caravan (BLACK SABBATH cover)
12. Walk
13. Domination / Hollow
14. Cowboys From Hell

PANTERA's surviving members Philip Anselmo (vocals) and Rex Brown (bass),along with guitarist Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX),are headlining a number of major festivals across South America, Asia, North America and Europe and staging some of their own headline concerts. They will also support METALLICA on a massive North American stadium tour in 2023 and 2024.

According to Billboard, the lineup has been given a green light by the estates of the band's founders, drummer Vincent "Vinnie Paul" Abbott and guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, as well as Brown, who in 2021 said Wylde wouldn't tour with PANTERA if a reunion were to happen. It's unclear what changed his mind.

In December, PANTERA played seven shows in Mexico and South America.

Brown was forced to leave PANTERA's Latin American tour after testing positive for COVID-19. Filling in for him at some of the shows was CATTLE DECAPITATION bassist Derek Engemann, who also plays with Anselmo in both PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS and SCOUR.

Up until his passing, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for Dimebag's death.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

Vinnie passed away on June 22, 2018 at his other home in Las Vegas at the age of 54. He died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn't pump blood as well as a healthy heart.

Germany’s STORMAGE Streaming “Deniers Of Reality” Music Video

Germany’s STORMAGE Streaming “Deniers Of Reality” Music Video

A few days after the announcement of the new album Ashes Of Doom, Germany’s Stormage present the first "firecracker" from the new album: "Deniers Of Reality" is the name of the song and deals with missing values, selfishness, greed, war and violence, and that each individual can do something against it.

Ashes Of Doom is out on May 26 via El Puerto Records. Album presale is available on the El Puerto Records webshop.

Bassist Dirk Heggemann on the album: "The idea behind it is to address the things that are currently going out of control worldwide. The character stands as a representation for all of humanity, hoping for a helping hand through a broken window to turn everything around. That helping hand could be any one of us."

In the 20 years of their existence, the quartet from the German Sauerland has continuously honed their own style. For the upcoming fourth album Ashes Of Doom has Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann (Orden Ogan) co-producer. The result is a multifaceted, cleverly arranged power metal album, but just a touch "darker" than the rest.

Finland’s SHADE OF SORROW Signs To M-Theory Audio

Finland’s SHADE OF SORROW Signs To M-Theory Audio

Finnish melodic death metal newcomer Shade Of Sorrow are the latest talent to collaborate with M-Theory Audio and are looking forward to the completion of their debut album.

The one-man project is spearheaded by multi-instrumentalist Mika Kankainen, the former drummer of Finnish bands WWOC, Soul Terror, and Warceremony. With Shade Of Sorrow, Mika plays all instruments including drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, while also handling vocals showcasing his immense talent and virtuosity.

"My dream came true as M- Theory Audio contacted me and proposed a collaboration with Shade of Sorrow,” explains Mika. “I know they have a huge amount of professional experience in the field of music business, and I really think that the company has a heartfelt purpose of lifting promising bands and music up for the masses. Needless to say, I´m super stoked about this collaboration and will make sure that we will get a hell of a debut album to release!  There is a lot of passion, big dreams and a huge work ethic behind this project and I’m really looking forward for the future release and collaboration with M-Theory Audio!”

The genesis of this band started back in 2017 when demo songs were sent to friend and collaborator Tuomas Saukkonen (Wolfheart, Before the Dawn, Dawn of Solace) who promptly agreed to produce. Fast forward to 2020, their busy schedules finally lined up and they went into the studio to record the first two Shade Of Sorrow songs -- “No Return” and “Fabricated Hope”.  Both songs were recorded, mixed and mastered by Esa Uusimaa (Wolfheart, Rain of Acid, Crowen) with vocals produced by Juha Kylmanen (Full Nothing, For My Pain…) from Whiteleaf Studios. Those two songs were then followed up by a stand-alone digital single “Meteor” in 2022, which Tuomas from Wolfheart played some acoustic guitar on. Videos were made for all three songs and all will be available on the forthcoming full-length release, along with six new ones again produced by Saukkonen.

THOMAS ZWIJSEN Performs Acoustic Guitar Cover Of IRON MAIDEN's "When Two Worlds Collide"; Video

Guitarist Thomas Zwijsen has released the new video below, in which he performs an acoustic cover of Iron Maiden's "When Two Worlds Collide", featured on the band's 1998 album, Virtual XI.

A messages states: "'When Two Worlds Collide' was written by Blaze Bayley, Dave Murray and Steve Harris and is on the Virtual XI album with Blaze on vocals. Blaze is a frequently returning guest on Thomas' Nylon Maiden albums, on tracks such as 'The Clansman', 'Judgement of Heaven', 'Como Estais Amigos' and 'Blood Brothers'. Blaze Bayley recently suffered a heart attack and had to cancel his current tours, which is a great loss of income. In order to support Blaze in his recovery, order his albums and merch at BlazeBayley.net."
