Joe Satriani has released the new video below, along with the following message:
"Kieran Johnston jumps into some 'Perfect Dust' seamlessly switching between modern, blinding-fast runs and tasteful classic rock phrasing. He always shreds with taste and style."
"At the heart of it is my love for composing unique and moving music for the electric guitar. I love the journey as much as the end result. With this compilation of backing tracks you get to peak behind the curtain a bit and experience that journey as I built the songs in the studio. And, of course, you can play along!" - Joe Satriani
Stripped x Three features full backing tracks from the complete Shapeshifting, Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards and"Is There Love in Space? albums, a special digital compilation booklet with original liner notes and credits and it is all packaged within a replica Joe Satriani Ibanez signature guitar USB stick and custom case. Pre-order here.
Satriani on Stripped x Three: "This collection represents three albums of backing tracks released years apart from each other spanning 16 years: Is There Love In Space? from 2004, Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards from 2010, and 2020's Shapeshifting. Three remarkably different albums recorded and mixed in remarkably different locations. At the heart of it is my love for composing unique and moving music for the electric guitar. Each album project I undertake pushes me to discover new ways to write , play, produce and record. I love the journey as much as the end result. With this compilation of backing tracks you get to peak behind the curtain a bit and experience that journey as I built the songs in the studio. And, of course, you can play along!"
Devin Townsend has returned with another installment of his sporadic yet ongoing Quarantine Project, this time with the new song called "Precious Sardine".

On October 29th, X Japan drummer Yoshiki uploaded pro-shot video of the band performing their classic single "Week End" live without an audience. This was part of a live broadcast. Check it out below, watch for more footage in the near future.
In a new commercial campaign for Asahi's Wonda Coffee, which began on September 3rd, Yoshiki transforms into a super-powered titan. Based on the worldwide hit anime series Attack On Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin), the 3D CG animated character was modeled after Yoshiki, and the thundering drum sounds were recorded live by the X Japan drummer himself.
Cathedral vocalist Lee Dorrian and guitarist Gaz Jennings have recently been trolling through their archives and are in the process of getting some old 8mm, Video 8, VHS and Mini DV clips transferred. A lot of this cool stuff will be added to the Cathedral YouTube channel in the coming months. First up is this rarely seen promo clip for "Utopian Blaster", which was filmed during their first ever Australian show at The Roxy in Brisbane, March 12th 1996. Enjoy!
They cut out "Huggy Bear Oh Yeah!" for some reason?
"Utopian Blaster" originally appeared on Cathedral's third album, The Carnival Bizarre, released in 1995 on Earache Records.
Leviathan Records, the label run by guitarist David Chastain, has posted more live footage from the archives.
A message states: "Chastain exploded onto the metal scene with the release of their epic debut album, Mystery Of Illusion, in 1985. Shortly after the release of that album the band met up in Cincinnati, Ohio to play a concert at Bogart's. The band for the show was David T. Chastain on guitar, Leather Leone on vocals, Mike Skimmerhorn on bass, Russell Jinkens on second guitar and Les Sharp on drums.
"The concert was actually a showcase for a major label that Mike Varney had arranged. We recently found this concert on a Beta tape and had it transferred to digital format. Considering the show was 35 years ago and shot on one camera by a fan, it obviously has some technical flaws but we decided to release it for its "historical" importance. Leather's performance alone is worth the price of admission!
"'I've Seen Tomorrow' features the bands speed metal chops. Mystery Of Illusion has just been reissued on CD by Divebomb Records."

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante has released the new video below, featuring a cover of U.K.'s "Presto Vivace".
Says Charlie: "U.K. were a late seventies British progressive rock supergroup. It featured singer/bassist John Wetton, Eddie Jobson, Allan Holdsworth and drummer Bill Bruford, who was later replaced by drummer Terry Bozzio. I can't tell you what their first two records and their live album Night After Night meant to me. The version of 'Presto Vivace' from the live album has always been a favorite of mine, probably because of Terry Bozzio’s drumming. I asked Alex (Skolnick) and Ra (Diaz) to rock this one out and they NAILED it. We needed someone to play this crazy keyboard part… hmmmmmm... WHO? Alex suggested Jordan Rudess, how AWESOME! Jordan was into it and he also NAILED it. I hope you dig this short but fiery blast of notes and hits; just an awesome display of musicians having fun!"
Harrisburg, PA-based heavy rock band, Eternal Frequency, has released the official music video for their cover of Queen's 1991 hit single, "The Show Must Go On."
Self-directed and filmed and edited by Eric DiCarlo, 100% of "The Show Must Go On" proceeds will go to NIVA - National Independent Venue Association to help #SAVEOURSTAGES.
Says the band: "Our cover of 'The Show Must Go On' (originally performed by Queen) is a tribute to all of our fellow musicians, roadies, technicians, stage hands, managers, venue owners, and most importantly the listeners and fans that are being affected by this pandemic. We essentially wanted to send a message that things will get better. That is why we are donating 100% of the song proceeds to NIVA - National Independent Venue Association."

Eternal Frequency is a young, up and coming band hailing from Harrisburg Pennsylvania who use anthemic rock and metalcore as their muse to formulate a fresh, modern, hard rock sound of their own. In just under two years of being a band they have released several singles including "Down", “Temptations”, and the lastest "Parasite" which garnered over 140,000 views on YouTube. They have continued to develop their following in the Pennsylvania market and continue to expand their fan base through means of digital strategy during the current pandemic.
Accompanying the drive and power of their songs, they also bring a strong, energetic stage presence with them when they perform live. "The biggest test to us is to deliver to our fans an experience that they will never forget. We should be complimenting what we create."
The band during it's tenure has shared the stage and opened for established artists such as Of Mice And Men, Smile Empty Soul, Vixen, and Sponge. In January of 2020 the band was awarded Best New Artist/Band for the annual Central Pennsylvania Music Awards.
2020 has been a great starting point for Eternal Frequency. It is only a matter of time before they break out onto the national scene.
Shark Island was once the house band at the world famous Gazzaris on the Sunset Strip. Signed to Epic Records in 1989 the band released their debut album, Law Of The Order, and also saw the tracks "Dangerous" and "Father Time" featured in the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, as well as the song "My City" from the movie Point Break.

In 2018 the band started work on Bloodline which was recorded in Croatia and Los Angeles. It was limited to self release before being picked up by Deko Entertainment, and fans and critics are liking what they hear.
Richard states this about the new video and song, “Written as a companion song to ‘On And On’, ‘Someday’ is a song about procrastination and our fleeting life as it passes before our eyes.”

Emerging rock artist Bald Man today released the music video for his latest track, “2020 Vision". Playing alongside Bald Man, the music video features lead guitarist Phil X (Bon Jovi), bassist Dan Spree (Phil X And The Drills), drummer Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake), and keyboardist and musical director Steve Ferlazzo (Avril Lavigne, Nuno Bettencourt, R.S.O). Check out the music video below.
“2020 Vision” comes as Bald Man travels across the country on his Hellbilly Hollow-ween North American Tour, a COVID-19 safe live concert and movie premiere experience. Featuring hard rock and heavy metal radio personality Eddie Trunk (select show dates), the run kicked off in Frenchtown, NJ on Friday, October 16, and includes 15 show dates.
“Nothing goes better with Halloween than serving up a new horror film with a side of in-your-face rock ‘n roll,” said Bald Man. “These projects have been years in the making and I can’t wait to hit the road and share Music for the Rest of Us and Hellbilly Hollow with fans across the country. It’s showtime.”
“It has been an honor recording with Bald Man. I’ve been having a blast, too, as I really get to stretch my legs as a guitar player,” said Bald Man lead guitarist, Phil X. “It would've been awesome to do this tour with all my bros, too, but with Bon Jovi, The Drills and other projects on my plate, it was hard to connect the dots. There is HUGE talent in the current lineup, and this is exactly what people need right now, especially after being stuck at home for the last seven months. In the end, I believe it’s ‘music’ that will bring us all back together and get us through this."
In support of Music For The Rest Of Us, Bald Man’s recently released 10-track debut studio album of original material, Hellbilly Hollow-ween North American Tour features a premiere screening of Bald Man’s new horror film, Hellbilly Hollow, which features six tracks from Music For The Rest Of Us on the film’s soundtrack, and a live concert performance of the entire album. To keep fans safe during the tour, shows will be limited to 25% occupancy, and include temperature checks, face coverings, and hand sanitizer stations for all guests. Check out Music For The Rest Of Us here.
A significant portion of proceeds from the Hellbilly Hollow-ween North American Tour will be donated by Bald Man’s L Foundation charity to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Joe Satriani has released the new video below, along with the following message:
"Doug Doppler soars over 'If I Could Fly'. With an emphasis on tone, vibrato and melodic phrasing, Doug delivers the goods on this track and shows us his unique blend of techniques and styles."
Doppler is one of Satriani's former students.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS singer Taylor Momsen played a piano-driven version of the band's latest single, "25", on this past Friday's (November 13) episode of Fox 5's "Good Day New York". You can now watch her performance below.
"25" is taken from THE PRETTY RECKLESS's upcoming album, "Death By Rock And Roll", which will be released on February 12, 2021 via Fearless Records in the U.S. and Century Media Records in the rest of the world.
Momsen stated about the track: "'25' is an interesting song that came from a lot of different places. It was the first song we recorded for the record in early 2019. I had just turned 25 when we wrote it. In a way, it's an autobiography and hopefully shows that this album really ventures out into new territory with the music."
"Death By Rock And Roll" is THE PRETTY RECKLESS's first album to be made without longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who died in April 2018 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
A few months ago, Momsen confirmed that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello guests on "Death By Rock And Roll". Morello appears on a track called "And So It Went".
Morello joins previously announced guests Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron from SOUNDGARDEN. The song with Cameron and Thayil, called "Only Love Can Save Me Now", was recorded at Seattle's legendary London Bridge Studios, where seminal LPs like PEARL JAM's "Ten" and SOUNDGARDEN's "Louder Than Love" were laid down.
Momsen told Forbes about "Death By Rock And Roll": "We worked really hard on this album and we went through a lot of loss, a lot of tragedy, and we really poured our hearts and souls into it and in a way I can't express verbally. It's all there in the music, so that's why I say it feels like a rebirth. It almost feels like the first record in a sense, because we really had to go back to the beginning after losing Kato, our producer. I'm just really excited for people to hear it because, in my opinion, it's the best album we've ever made so it's hard to sit on this music.
"We talked about holding the song 'Death By Rock And Roll' for longer too, and I was, like, 'I can't do this. I can't just sit on this album forever.' The world needs music and music has such a healing thing to it, and it saved my life, time and time again. If we put out a song and if it can put a smile on some people's faces, great, we'll take it from there. That's kind of what we're doing — we're riding the wave. This is just such an unprecedented time so we're trying to take it step by step, and see where things go. Everything is still up in the air, but we are planning on releasing more singles before the full album is out. There's going to be more music to come."

Violent Life Violent Death's new video for "Grave Walk" can be seen below. The track is found on the Charlotte, North Carolina-based metallic hardcore act's fourth EP, The Color Of Bone, which just saw release at the end of October through Innerstrength Records.
The "Grave Walk" video was filmed by Justin Beasley. With its premiere, VLVD vocalist Scott Cohen offers, "'Grave Walk' is about the deafening silence in graveyards and what that silence is saying - the memories and emotions that are left behind in the ground, trapped in stone and dirt."
Since their formation in 2016, Violent Life Violent Death has delivered a blistering, damaging brand of brutal metallic hardcore, having been on a constant mission to deliver the most aggressive, hardest-hitting, yet straightforward music the genre has to offer, drawing comparisons and influence from the likes of Zao, Converge, Hatebreed, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Everytime I Die.
The Color Of Bone sees Violent Life Violent Death continue to explore the darker and more eerie sounds the band started experimenting with on their previous release, 2019's Sadness Rains. With five new tracks recorded, mixed, and mastered by Kyle Dameron at Rareform Recordings in Hickory, North Carolina, the record was completed with photos by Justin Driscoll, art by Justin Campbell, and layout by Mark De Gruchy.

"Grave Walk"
"Dead With Me"

TSO performing an all-new staging of its beloved album Christmas Eve And Other Stories, means that fans, despite missing so much in 2020, won't have to miss their favorite holiday tradition. This electrifying livestream will bring some much-needed rockin’ Christmas spirit to fans everywhere. In addition to the full album concert, fans will view special pre-show content including behind-the-scenes footage and classic interview segments.
General public on sale begins today. TSO’s Music Director & lead guitarist Al Pitrelli said, “So many things have changed in 2020. Masks, social distancing, home schooling, and of course live entertainment. What will not change is all of us being able to celebrate the holidays together. It will just be in a different way. For 21 years we’ve had the privilege of bringing our tours, including Christmas Eve And Other Stories, to hundreds of cities and millions of people. This year we will bring this timeless story to your living rooms. We will miss seeing all of you in person, but like Paul O’Neill always said, ‘adapt, overcome, and improvise.’ That’s exactly what we are going to do. This will be an opportunity to see your favorite holiday story up close and personal. We can’t wait to share this with all of you. In the meantime... Stay safe. Stay healthy. We’re on our way!”
This special event will bring together members of both the East and West bands for the first time since 2000 when TSO first began touring with two full groups. For the livestream, Bryan Hicks will narrate and Al Pitrelli (guitar) and Derek Wieland (keyboards) will serve as musical directors. The band will feature Chris Caffery (guitar), Mee Eun Kim (keyboards), Johnny Lee Middleton (bass), Asha Mevlana (violin), and Jeff Plate (drums). Vocalists will be Russell Allen, Nate Amor, John Brink, Erika Jerry, Chloe Lowery, Georgia Napolitano, and Jeff Scott Soto.
A product of the vision and imagination of TSO’s late founder, composer, and lyricist Paul O’Neill, Christmas Eve And Other Stories gave birth to the unique format O’Neill called “Rock Theater.” The story is set on Christmas Eve when a young angel is sent to Earth to bring back what is best representative of humanity. Following favorite TSO themes of “strangers helping strangers” and “the kindness of others,” “Christmas Eve and Other Stories” takes listeners all over the world to help reunite a young girl with her distraught father. The album features such fan-favorites as both of which have not been performed live in recent years. The rock opera also features such TSO classics as "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24," "O’ Come All Ye Faithful," "Good King Joy," "Promises To Keep," "This Christmas Day," “Ornament,” and the epic “Old City Bar.”
The debut studio album of Christmas Eve And Other Stories is available as a part of "The Christmas Trilogy," a three-album collection that also includes definitive TSO albums The Christmas Attic and The Lost Christmas Eve. "The Trilogy," which has been out of print for several years, will be available on November 20, and is available for pre-order now.
Since its historic touring debut, TSO has played approximately 2,100 concert dates for more than 17 million fans and has sold in excess of 12 million albums and DVDs.
German legends Scorpions continue to roll out the classic footage - this time a performance of "Big City Nights" live in Berlin, 1990. Check it out below.
Scorpions are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their Crazy World album, released on November 6, 1990. The band have released the Fact Video below.
Says the band: "30 years and it's still a Crazy World. Thank you for helping to make this record so special."
VENDED, the band fronted by Griffin Taylor, the son of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor, played a short set at this past Friday's (November 13) "Knotfest.com Presents: Pulse Of The Maggots Fest", a free online festival sponsored by ESP Guitars and presented by MusiCares, Ernie Ball and Rock Against Racism. Hosted by Knotfest.com's very own Beez, Ryan J Downey and special guests, "Pulse Of The Maggots Fest" was comprised of three digital stages (the MusiCares stage, Rock Against Racism stage and ESP stage) with performances from 20 of the the most exciting up-and-coming artists.
VENDED played its first headlining show in March at the iconic local club Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines, Iowa.
Griffin, who looks a lot like his father, previously showcased his skills when he joined Corey onstage during STONE SOUR shows in 2017 and 2018. According to The Pulse Of Radio, he's also played cover tunes with Shawn "Clown" Crahan's son, Simon Crahan, who's also in VENDED. Clown's daughter Alexandria Crahan-Conway has snapped VENDED's press pics.
Corey told the Wisconsin radio station 102.9 The Hog about sharing the stage with his son: "A million things go through your head. First of all, he's a natural. He'd never done anything like that before. We didn't even practice on stage with him. He and I went through it acoustically backstage. He was 14 at the time. At 14, not only could he lean back on the adrenaline and fall in the pocket, but note-wise, he was so dialed in on it. And then had the presence of mind to be running around stage, going for it, and then at the end, he jumps up on my check-me-out box and takes a selfie with the audience. I would have never in a million years thought to do that. I'd never felt that kind of pride in my life, man. I was, like, 'Oh, you've got the Taylor curse now, dude. You're screwed.' [Laughs]"
He continued: "In one split second, I was up on stage and I'm playing guitar, and I was really just kind of backing him up on the choruses and stuff. But a million things are going through my head. I'm seeing him as a kid, I'm seeing him on his first day at school, I'm seeing him struggle with just trying to figure out who he is and stuff, and then all of a sudden — boom! — and there he is. And I'm like, 'Wow!'"
Asked if Griffin has always gravitated to music, Corey said: "No, man. When he was really young, he wanted to be a florist. And then he was just, like, 'Well, dad, I'm just gonna be a professional gamer.' And I was, like, 'Are ya? All right. Let's hear your rationale.' 'Well, you know, there are people that get paid to play video games.' And I'm, like, 'Hey, if you can do that, please, by all means, get in there.' And then he realized there's actual work [involved] and a lot of those gamers are actually programmers as well. And I'm, like, 'That means college.' And he was, like, 'Ugh.' My son's not the biggest fan of school."
METALLICA played both unplugged and electric sets as part of its "Live & Acoustic From HQ: Helping Hands Concert & Auction", which was streamed live earlier today (Saturday, November 14) from the band's headquarters in San Rafael, California.
The acoustic portion saw James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo perform stripped down versions of METALLICA songs "Blackened", "Creeping Death", "The Unforgiven", "Now That We're Dead", "Nothing Else Matters" and "All Within My Hands", as well as covers of DEEP PURPLE's "When A Blind Man Cries" and Bob Seger's "Turn The Page". The electric set consisted of a reimagined version of "Disposable Heroes" — described by Hetfield as "a heavy song we did acoustic, and we're doing it heavy the acoustic-version way" — plus "Wasting My Hate" (performed for the first time since 2011), "For Whom The Bell Tolls", "Master Of Puppets" and "Enter Sandman", along with cover of the traditional folk classic "The House Of The Rising Sun".
"DEEP PURPLE was my first concert back in 1562," Ulrich remarked at the end of "When A Blind Man Cries". "Hearing James sing it was so fucking awesome. So thanks for indulging us."
Joining METALLICA at the event were mandolin player and multi-instrumentalist Avi Vinocur and keyboard player Henry Salvia. There was also a guest appearance from Hetfield's son Castor and Ulrich's son Layne, who added backing vocals and percussion to "All Within My Hands".
The reimagined version of "Disposable Heroes" can be seen beginning around the 7:30 mark in the second video below.
This was the second All Within My Hands foundation (AWMH) benefit held by METALLICA and this time around fans from all over the world were able to participate, as it was the band's first-ever worldwide pay-per-view event.
"METALLICA doesn't do anything halfway. This is an example of that," Hammett said of All Within My Hands prior to the start of the concert. "We've helped so many people through our music. Now we want to help in a different way."
"Thank you for supporting All Within My Hands and, even more importantly, thank you for supporting METALLICA through thick and thin," Ulrich said. "We love you. We can't wait to see you in all corners of the world as soon as possible."
10. House Of The Rising Sun (traditional folk cover)
11. Wasting My Hate
12. For Whom The Bell Tolls
13. Master Of Puppets
14. Enter Sandman
All Within My Hands is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation established in 2017 as a way for the METALLICA family to give back to communities that have supported the band. Just this year, AWMH has donated $645,000 to COVID-19-related relief funds including Feeding America, Direct Relief, as well as to charities assisting those in the entertainment and hospitality industries suddenly without work. More recently the foundation donated $350,000 to aid those affected by the West Coast wildfires. Finally, the foundation's Metallica Scholars Initiative is now in its second year, supported by a $1.5 million grant benefiting 15 community colleges across the country.
METALLICA and All Within My Hands are committed to running an organization of the highest integrity where expenses are kept to a minimum and are paid for entirely by the band, the board, and friends who have worked with the band over many years and are excited to help in this mission. As always, 100% of proceeds from this year's "Helping Hands" event — tickets, fees and auction items — will go directly to help those in need, with METALLICA and the foundation covering all production costs and expenses.
Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON played a short set at the virtual Adult Swim Festival on Friday night (November 13). The five-song performance, which can be seen in full below, kicked off with the live debut of the "Once More 'Round The Sun" track "Asleep In The Deep", before continuing with "Thickening", "Steambreather", "The Motherload" and "Blood And Thunder".
MASTODON has just entered the studio to begin recording its next album. The follow-up to 2017's "Emperor Of Sand" will mark MASTODON's first collection of new material since the death of longtime manager Nick John and the passing of tour manager Bob Dallas.
MASTODON drummer Brann Dailor recently told the 100.3 The X Rocks radio station that the band had demoed 30 songs for its next LP, with the intention of including 12 on the final product.
MASTODON's new rarities collection titled "Medium Rarities", was released in September. The compilation includes a new song called "Fallen Torches" as well as a bevy of classic covers, soundtrack contributions, instrumentals, B-sides, and live recordings on one complete package for the very first time.
"Emperor Of Sand" debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. That LP was nominated for the 2018 Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album," and its opening track, "Sultan's Curse", won the Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance."
Earlier in the year, MASTODON wrote and recorded a new song called "Rufus Lives" for inclusion in the latest "Bill & Ted Face The Music" movie.
"Bill & Ted Face The Music", which reunites Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves in the title roles for the first time since 1991's "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey", was released in August.
NIGHTWISH's Floor Jansen has released her cover version of the song "Let It Go" from the Disney movie "Frozen". The Dutch-born vocalist revealed that she got the inspiration to record the track through her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Freja, who has been listening to it and singing it "for months."
In a statement accompanying the YouTube release of her "Let It Go" video, Jansen wrote: "Freja has been listening to singing Let It Go from the Disney movie, Frozen, for months. For fun and also because I miss performing for you, I decided to cover Let It Go from Frozen for all of you! Let It Go has been stuck in my head for months, so now it's your turn. ;) We added a bit of a rock & metal sound to it and gave it a bit of our own twist!"
The music for Floor's version of "Let It Go" was laid down by Oscar Fläring from the band THE FOUXES.
Released in 2013, the original version of "Let It Go" was written by husband-wife songwriter duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won both an Academy Award and Grammy Award in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
Jansen made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band's lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon.
Jansen officially joined NIGHTWISH in 2013 and made her recording debut with the group on 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" album.
NIGHTWISH's ninth studio album, "Human. :II: Nature." , was released in April via Nuclear Blast. The effort is a double album containing nine tracks on the main CD and one long track, divided into eight chapters on CD 2.
