Canada's Apogean has unveiled the third single, “Hueman (The Pleasure Of Burn)”, off their debut record, Cyberstrictive, slated for release on March 8th via The Artisan Era physically (vinyl, CD) and digitally. The track, along with its accompanying music video, contributes to the album’s core theme of exposing the dark side of technology and digital poisoning by painting a dystopian picture of Blue LED Light Fallout.
Apogean states: “‘Hueman (The Pleasure Of Burn)’ tackles the aftermath of a lifetime of exposure to blue LED light. Describing the physical ailments and the effects of poisonous photoradiation on the human populace, this song and video serve as a metaphoric representation of what awaits a generation plugged into cyberspace. Musically, this piece marks a turn towards adding more black metal elements to our music. This allows us to use more atmospheric choruses and expand the depth of feeling that we can provide artistically.”
Apogean is a five-piece band from Toronto, Ontario, seeking to transcend metal’s traditional realms with their musical machinations. Drawing inspiration from a broad spectrum of artistic influences, this Canadian ensemble is set to embark on an unending journey, exploring the intersections of progressive metal, technical death, deathcore, and blackened death, positioning themselves at the forefront of heavy music’s ever-evolving landscape.
Despite their recent formation, Apogean features members bringing years of honed skills, diverse collaborations across genres, endorsements from leading musical instrument brands, and notable ventures into video game collaborations and licensing original compositions featured on ESPN. Cyberstrictive, the debut album, is Apogean’s first venture with the new vocalist Mac Smith, known for his involvement in various projects and recent stint as the live vocalist for Decrepit Birth. Beyond his vocal responsibilities, Mac, with a background in managing notable metal bands, also independently oversees the management of Apogean.
Across ten songs, Cyberstrictive discloses the dark aspects of technology, taking a broader look at its impact on our minds, bodies, and souls. Drawing significant inspiration from Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and echoing the dystopian excerpts of George Orwell’s 1984, the album explores the hazards of modern technology, covering risks such as sensory damage, psychological trauma, desensitization, information paradoxes, predatory practices targeting children, addiction complexities, and the erosion of creativity. Ultimately, the album culminates in a reflection on overarching manipulation and concludes by addressing the burdensome aspects of technology, employing wordplay and metaphor to illustrate the overwhelming drawbacks outweighing the benefits in the modern digital world.

Austin, TX prog-metal quartet Transit Method’s third full-length album Othervoid is out on February 2, 2024, via Brutal Panda Records. Today, the band shares the third single “Frostbite."

“I wrote ‘Frostbite’ in one fell swoop during the infamous winter storm that devastated Texas in February 2021. I remember sitting in my room, looking out the window, thinking about the millions of people without electricity, water, or food — some literally freezing to death in single-digit temperatures — and how it all could have been easily avoided.
“I felt frustrated and angry, but mostly helpless at the fact that there was nothing I could do to help anyone. I channeled those emotions into the music and lyrics. Once I presented it to the band, we all felt it was something special. We took care in fine-tuning the final arrangement together and consider it the centerpiece of Othervoid.”

Othervoid marks the prog-metal quartet's most bludgeoning, infectious and ambitious album to date. Brothers Matt LoCoco (vocals/guitar) and Mike LoCoco (drums) are joined by new members Bryan Rolli (guitars/vocals) and live Panopticon violinist Charlie Anderson (bass) cementing the band's definitive lineup.
Othervoid's seven tracks show the breadth of the band's songwriting. The punk-metal riffs and dueling guitars of "Psychometry" evoke Mutoid Man and Iron Maiden, while the vocal harmonies and trad-metal gallop of "The Outside" recall Mastodon and Thin Lizzy. The album reaches its astonishing climax on "Frostbite," a shapeshifting, nine-minute epic inspired by the 2021 freeze that left millions of Texans stranded at home without power and claimed hundreds of lives.
Othervoid is the result of years of turmoil and triumph. With their future uncertain, Transit Method charged into the eye of the storm and emerged on the other side with the strongest album of their career. The path was challenging, unpredictable and exhilarating - just like Othervoid.

Toyah recently revealed in an interview with eonmusic that a movie of the Sunday Lunch series is in the planning. The weekly event, which sees Toyah and partner Robert Fripp cover songs from across the rock spectrum, started during the lockdown of 2020, and has grown into a "phenomenon," according to the singer.
Toyah made the revelation while speaking to eonmusic's Eamon O'Neill ahead of her performance at Rewind South in Henley-on-Thames in August.
Speaking about how Sunday Lunch has taken off; Toyah said; "Well, the Sunday lunch phenomenon, which is a worldwide phenomenon, it's basically, we picked up on classic rock, and our treatment of rock is; if you can teach Mozart and Beethoven in schools, then why can't you teach classic rock? Because that's what it is now; rock from Led Zeppelin, rock from Black Sabbath; it's classic, it's never going to go away. And it's something that I think, kids would really love learning about. That's not that we're going on the road and being educational, but our show kind of goes on a journey with artists we know, artists who visit us in our homes."
Going on to reveal that a movie about Sunday Lunch is on the way, Toyah said; "We have a documentary crew following us, and we have quite a big production company scripting an idea at the moment. Obviously we won't be in it. It's for actors to play, but that's all in the back kind of pool of what do you call pre-production. All of that's going on."
Asked when the movie might see the light of day, she was however, less committal; "I mean, movies take years, you know, for the even scripts to be accepted, so who knows what will happen?"

Vixen bassist Julia Lage has released a new solo song, "The Ride". It features her husband Richie Kotzen (The Winery Dogs) on guitar, Dug Pinnick (King's X) on guest vocals, and Michael Odabashian on drums. The video, directed by Vicente Cordero, can be seen below.

Tomi Koivusaari, known as the guitarist for Amorphis, released his solo project Bjørkø's debut album Heartrot in December.
The lineup for Koivusaari's solo album boasts talent, with drummer Waltteri Väyrynen (Opeth, ex-Paradise Lost), bassist Lauri Porra (Stratovarius), and keyboard wizard Janne Lounatvuori (Hidria Spacefolk) forming part of the core ensemble.
Additionally, each sung track on the album features interesting vocalists, ranging from extreme metal legend Jeff Walker (Carcass) to Marko Hietala known from Nightwish, through Mariska.
One of the most memorable guests on the Heartrot album is Ismo Alanko. The legend of Finnish rock has written lyrics and sung on Bjørkø's track ”Värinvaihtaja".
"The working title for the song was already 'Siekkarit' (short for Sielun Veljet) so it was obvious who to invite as a guest vocalist. Initially, as a fan, I hesitated to contact Alanko, but producer Nino Laurenne forced me to. At first, Ismo doubted the success of the project because he had never before written lyrics for a finished song composed by someone else. However, once we got going, both the lyrics and vocal parts came together organically and quickly," Koivusaari recounts.

Ravage, the traditional heavy metal rockers from Boston, Massachusetts, will self release a new full-length album, entitled Spider On The World, on April 19. The album will initially be available on limited edition vinyl and streaming platforms worldwide through the band's own Thrash With Power Records label.
Spider On The World is the band's first full-length offering of brand new material since The End Of Tomorrow album, which was released by Metal Blade Records in 2009.
The new record was mixed and mastered by Peter Rutcho who is known for his work with Revocation, Havok, Cellador and Danny Elfman amongst others. It features the band's signature blend of trad metal stylings which weaves together elements of melodic heavy metal, speed metal, power metal and thrash.
Cover and interior artworks for the record were created by the legendary Andreas Marschall, known for his work on classic records by Kreator, Blind Guardian, Sodom, Hammerfall and others.
Singer Al Ravage comments: "It's pretty cool to finally be able to share this with everyone. This record has obviously been a very long time in the making and we've worked hard to make the release as special as possible. Honeymoon Suite was originally formed in 1981 by lead vocalist and guitarist Johnnie Dee from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Following the departure of the original lead guitarist, Derry Grehan, also from the Niagara Falls area, joined the band. Johnnie and Derry decided to re-build the band at that point and recruited Dave Betts on drums, Ray Coburn on keys, and Gary Lalonde on bass. They hit the road hard playing 6 six nights a week and writing songs with the hope of scoring a record deal.
In 1983, the band entered a demo of “New Girl Now” to a homegrown contest put on by Toronto rock station Q107. They won that year and this led to a multi album deal with WEA Canada after being signed by Bob Roper.
The band recorded their debut self titled album which was released in July, 1984. The album was an instant success, and with the help of massive airplay, several videos on MTV and MuchMusic, it went on to sell over 300,000 units in Canada alone.
Since their debut release, Honeymoon Suite has released a total of seven studio albums with over 1 million units sold worldwide driven by the success of a string of hit singles such as "New Girl Now", "Burning In Love", "Wave Babies", "Stay In The Light", "Feel It Again" and "What Does It Take", to name a few.
The band has won numerous awards including a Canadian Juno for group of year in 1986, triple platinum sales in Canada with the first 3 albums, and platinum sales for the greatest hits CD The Singles, released in 1989. They also received an award in June, 2015 for 100,000 + performances on Canadian radio for “Burning In Love”, “New Girl Now”, “Wave Babies” and “What Does It Take”.
They have toured extensively in the US, Canada and Europe with acts such as ZZTop, Heart, Billy Idol, Journey, Bryan Adams, Saga, Loverboy, Jethro Tull and .38 Special to name a few.
Honeymoon Suite has also enjoyed many of their songs being placed in film and TV shows such as Miami Vice and Bones, and movie's such as Lethal Weapon and One Crazy Summer.
During the 1990’s, the band went through several lineup changes, but in the early 2000’s, the original lineup of Johnnie, Derry, Gary and Dave was re-formed, along with the addition of keyboard player Peter Nunn, and is still intact to this day.
Fast forward to 2020. Derry & Johnnie, armed with a surplus of new original songs, reached out to fellow Canadian producer/songwriter MIke Krompass based in Nashville, TN. Mike, a long-time fan, was all in to co-write and produce a new Honeymoon Suite album for his new record label. They got to work and before long, they were joined by Dave, Gary and Peter cutting bed tracks for studio album number eight.
The first single, “Tell Me What You Want” was released in October of 2019 along with a groundbreaking new video and response was immediate from fans and radio alike. A second single called “Find What You’re Looking For” was released in June, 2020. The song was an immediate hit on AOR Rock Radio in Canada, charting in the Billboard Top 30, the first time in 19 years for Honeymoon Suite!
The band are excited for their upcoming February release and with no sign of slowing down, Honeymoon Suite plan to continue to create new music and tour year round thanks to a legion of loyal fans.

Each month of 2024 will be dedicated to an album from Sabaton’s discography, beginning with Primo Victoria and ending with The War To End All Wars. Special activities and insights will be provided to grant fans a better understanding of each studio album.
Highlights include album stories, song facts, and album listening parties during which band members will reminisce on and discuss their favorite tracks, while sharing never-heard-before experiences with Sabaton fans.
Other exciting initiatives include fun games, contests, and giveaways that will grant fans the chance to win unique prizes, as well as a limited edition 25-year anniversary merch, including some very exclusive items.
Frontman, Joakim Brodén, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming celebration, saying: "This is a massive milestone for us. Our fans have been with us every step of the way and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate this monumental occasion with them. We're planning some great things that we've never done before, and we're confident that 2024 will be one to remember, especially as we are heading to the studio at the beginning of next year to begin working on new music!"
Meanwhile, bassist and band manager, Pär Sundström, stated: “It’s hard to believe that a quarter of a century of us playing music and doing what we love the most has passed already. It’s been one hell of a journey, that’s for sure. We sing about history, but looking back we also wrote some history! Stay tuned!”
The 25th-anniversary celebrations will also include throwback photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into Sabaton's incredible journey, taking fans on a nostalgic trip through the band's history.

Finally, Paris-based alternative rock and metal act ONLAP has revealed new details about their forthcoming, hotly-anticpated studio album! "Waves" is slated for a release on June 14, 2024 via AFM Records.
Their first ever release on AFM Records, sees ONLAP to step up the ladder and evolve their already digitally incorporated DNA. Following a series of previously-released album tracks, such as "Nevermind", "Fever", "Hypnotized" and "Crawling In The Dark", now, the band is premiering a video clip for their new single "Afterglow".
"Afterglow" is a very special song, and one of the last single releases before our album "Waves" will drop in June 2024," the band comments. "This song is that kind of a message of comfort for all those who think that their best period, of age, of glory, of love, of happiness, of strength, of health, is behind them and past. The best is yet to come and this song is here to remind and accompany anyone who needs it. The video is quite a very special project, paying tribute to the Workout community, which has always supported ONLAP for all these years. So we brought together famous Youtubers and members of the ONLAP family to participate in this video and we are honored that so many people responded to this call.
